The CMAs and the Grammys. Lemonade losing AOTY and the CMAs backlash did a number on her. She did her research, and it paid off and it shows
I can’t wait for the reactions of the people if Beyonce gets nominations in the country music categories for the Grammy Awards in next year

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is deeply concerned about any government proposal that restricts access to evidence-based medical care, including the Alberta government’s proposed restrictions on gender-affirming treatments for pediatric transgender patients. Canadians have a right to make personal choices about their health with the support of their families, the guidance of licensed, regulated health professionals and free from political interference. Exploring and determining one’s sexual orientation and gender identity is part of normal childhood and adolescent development. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating patients experiencing gender dysphoria. An approach that restricts the most appropriate care options for some patients has the potential to cause permanent harm.

Cowboy Carter Review
sorry if i write a lot. i like to yap lol
Ameriican Requiem- i'm a huge sucker for a sitar so i was gripped in from the beginning. i grew up on country music (mainly 90s/early 2000s) and so when she showed up at the CMAs and performed with the chicks it was a childhood dream. but as a person who liked country music around the time 9/11 happened, it's only become even more racist since. the way they treated her that night even though she was one of, if not THE, best performer of the night was so upsetting to watch. even as the best artist on the planet, at the top of her game, she's always going to work a million times harder than any of her peers. i'm so proud of her being able to make a song like to this to put her thoughts out on the whole night that night.
Blackbiird- obviously everyone has heard this song before. i was unaware of the actual backstory to the song since i don't follow the beatles too much (i like george harrison but that's about it lol). i was not aware that the song the song was written for black women during the civil rights movement. i assumed the song was mainly written by john lennon who to my knowledge was kind of a grifter when it came to his activism. having this song come right after ameriican requiem is so poetic.
16 Carriages- shockingly i was able to avoid hearing this song in full until tonight. i tend to only do one single per release and so texas hold em was the one. this song is so heartbreaking because i think about all the kids in the entertainment industry who can probably relate to this song all too well
Protector- these songs she makes for her kids... i'm gonna need her to stop. not because they're bad but i straight up can't listen to blue and probably this song because i want a mom like this 😭
My Rose- i hate that this is an interlude. it's so beautiful and not to be dramatic should've been 10 hours long
Smoke Hour • Willie Nelson- idk what to say about this one lol
Texas Hold 'Em- i love this song. the only problem i have with it is it sounds too clean. like the production sounds too clean. maybe it sounds better on the radio where the quality is lower than streaming but its definitely a song that needs to be played not so isolated.
Bodyguard- there's something in this song. she channeled carole king for this on or something. it's so good instantly a top 20 if not top 10 song of hers through her whole discography.
Dolly P- once again idk what to say about this one its too short to say anything
Jolene- i mean i think the same way about her version as i do about dolly's version. why are we getting mad at these women when we should be getting mad at the men?? take away that beyonce is beyonce for a second. if she was a normal lady and this girl was unaware her man was taken, isn't that more on him than anyone? he's letting it happen.
Daughter- her voice in this song is insanity. the control she has is unmatched truly.
Spaghettii- the beat omgggg. i know this would hit so hard in a mashup with "my house" i'm obsessed.
Alliigator Tears- just from hearing snippets of the country music that's on the radio nowadays, i think this might be one of the few songs from this album that they will eat up. i'm not saying that as a diss at all. i love this song alot especially after a second listen.
Smoke Hour II- i guess i can add on here a random tid bit. i made a country playlist in preperation for the album to come out. i made it on valentine's day. tell me why i named it KNTRY. i didn't even know the "radio station" she has on the album was called that lol.
Just for Fun- i don't listen to lana del rey anymore. i had a small time during last year where i did but then she got real messy again and signed that letter thanking joe biden. that being said this song sounds identical to "norman fucking rockwell". which is a compliment because both are good songs. keep jack antonoff away from beyonce though. that's the good thing about beyonce is she doesn't sound like everyone else which he makes everyone do (yes i am a fan of him but i'm critical of his production lol)
II Most Wanted- i'm sorry i've never been a fan of miley cyrus (except for the song she did for black mirror and that one EP she put out). i want to like this song because i like aspects of the song but it being a miley cyrus song with a beyonce feature is not want i want.
Levii's Jeans- this is also a collab i'm not a fan of. i actually enjoy post malone but i would've liked to see them in a more upbeat song.
Flamenco- idk how to take this song. it's stunning as usual. my thoughts on the lyrics though is she's kinda talking to fans maybe like the OG like destiny's child fans who have started to leave because she's starting to experiment more with her sound and they miss her old sound. i would love to know her take on this song in particular. because i know so many artists who decide to change their sound throughout each release are terrified of losing fans because they're so stuck on a certain sound.
The Linda Martell Show- another one i can't say much on since it's an interlude
Ya Ya- now.... remember what i said about bodyguard??? easily top 10. idk where on my ranking but it's there. the interpolation of "these boots were made for walking" and "good vibrations". there's something about that old soul rock sound that gets me every single time. i know that it doesn't sound anything alike but "freedom" has that same vibe, where it takes alot from old 60s blues soul rock. this is gonna hit so good on tour!
Oh Louisiana- i will say i really like this interlude. second favorite out of the ones with actual music
Desert Eagle- another song she chose to make extremely short when it should've been hours long... come on B
Riiverdance- its a fun and cute song. i think the beat is good but i think i like it more on my first listen.
II Hands II Heaven- i'm hoping this will finally click for me. im seeing everyone really love this song but idk whats not clicking for me. i'll definitely keep listening to it though maybe someday.
Tyrant- someone said this is the thique of cowboy carter and yeah i can definitely hear it. it's a sexy song and it's a fun song. definitely like it alot more after a second listen
Sweet • Honey • Buckiin'- her sampling "i fall to pieces" in this song is so special to me. i do want someone to take this "honey" and add it to the end of pure/honey though i wonder if it would sound any good. i think sweet and buckiin are the best songs out of the three of these.
Amen- i love how this really rounds out the album, calling back to the first song. it feels and is a very emotional song. don't know if i'll go back to it only because i think it could make me cry lol
overall, i think it's a solid album. if we're comparing the acts, which idk how you can because they're two distinctly different sounds, i would probably still go with renaissance but there's still so many solid songs on this album that are now some of my top faves. usually i rate out of 10 but it feels too low tbh, so i'm rating it out of 100. it will definitely grow on me just like renaissance did. 89/100.

There’s a nasty not-so-secret secret no one likes to talk about, so it’s best to start there: Black women are among the most hated demographic worldwide. In America especially, anti-Blackness is the air. It’s everywhere even when you can’t see it. From the ivory halls of Washington to C-suites at Fortune 500 companies, Blackness is treated as less than. And because that is how it works and how it has worked generation after generation, not even Beyoncé, currently the most commanding force in music, can escape the fangs of misogynoir.
Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: A Black woman was told she did not belong, that she was not welcome in a certain space, so she paved a path all her own. That’s the story Beyoncé recounted in an Instagram post in March, the day she announced her new country album, Cowboy Carter. “The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me,” she wrote. Unlike other musical genres, country is infamous in who it chooses to exclude. The genre’s history is rife with allegiances to the old ways of American prejudice, and no bearing or social position can change that.
The sweet irony, of course, is that now we have Cowboy Carter, the second installment in a three-act project of historical and musical restoration that Beyoncé began in 2022 with Renaissance, her dance-floor tribute to house music. She is on a mission to reclaim her time. The rare artist who can pull off such a canny move, Beyoncé now represents something bigger than music. She’s an industry unto herself: swaggering and audacious in reach, with a built-in fan base that anticipates every album drop, Instagram post, and product release. Whether you agree with the motivations behind her work or not (and there are valid criticisms to be made for artists who create at such a grand scale as her; mass influence in all arenas of life necessitates questioning, there’s no denying that), no other contemporary Black musician will bring more awareness to country’s gated meadowlands—its past, present, and possible futures—than Beyoncé. If nothing else, she gets people talking.
“I’d like to actually thank the CMAs for pissing her off,” X user @gardenoutro wrote Friday morning, just past midnight, in the hour following the album’s official release, calling attention to Beyoncé’s 2016 performance with the Chicks that was later shunned by Country Music Association members. Where Lemonade was scorned memoir and Renaissance flirted with fantasy—a disco-lit dreamscape where freedom and love have no inverse—Cowboy Carter unravels like autofiction, blending biography with novelistic flair on songs like “Daughter” and “Spaghettii.” It takes country into uncharted terrain. “It’s easy to listen to 27 tracks when they’re all good,” songwriter Rob Milton wrote on X.
That’s the other thing about the Beyoncé Effect: There is no room for dissent in her universe. Online, and particularly across social media, new albums of hers are given billboard status. It is cause for celebration but rarely one for challenge or sharp inquiry.
“A lot of people still want to join in with something larger than themselves. Fandom offers them a way to do that. It is not, though, entirely a utopian space,” says Mark Duffett, a professor at the University of Chester who researches fandom. “The concerns and issues that society has are mirrored in fan communities. They do not escape from being part of the wider social world.”
As powerful as her music can be, the release of a Beyoncé album exposes the fiction of a shared internet. There is not one but many. In its most intense form, fan logic thrives in isolation. On Beyoncé’s internet, as with comparable fan cultures, logic finds comfort in the sideways geometry of the echo chamber. Its reasoning animorphs into blind zealotry, wagging its finger in the face of disagreement. Fan logic butts against balanced judgment. It has led Barbs (Nicki Minaj fans), Beliebers (Justin Bieber fans), Hive members (Beyoncé fans), and the like into a cycle of heated confrontation, and sometimes wild irrationality.
Brittany Luse wasn't expecting death threats when she commented about a Cowboy Carter ad that was projected onto the front of the Guggenheim Museum, but she also knew “the Hive can be so intense in their defense of any criticism of Beyoncé, let alone any perceived slight. So I wasn't expecting nothing to happen.” Luse is the host of NPR’s pop culture podcast It’s Been a Minute and a fan of the singer. “I maintain a pretty low-key presence online, so over the years, I’ve only dealt with wild social media attacks a handful of times, with the Swifties or the manosphere, but never death threats. They probably should have stressed me out, but they mostly just confounded me. I said I didn’t like an ad, and now you want me to choke? That’s too much.”
That, more than anything, is the tenor of fandom on the internet today: Perceived disloyalty is met with Tony Soprano–style intimidation. The rise and permanence of social media has led, in part, to the decomposition of fan culture. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram brought us closer together. Platforms that prized connection boosted the careers of artists from burgeoning to box office stars. But it had costs, Luse says. Instant access to celebrities rewired our relationships entirely.
“You can find seemingly endless content from your fave and befriend other fans more easily than ever before. Of course that would bring people joy,” she says. “But that constant, instant access also at least partially fuels an us-against-them mindset that puts some people into attack mode over their favorite artist.”
But perhaps the problem is not that such intense fandoms exist, but where they take root and make a home. “Another thing that has happened is that fans might be talking on social media to each other in ways that they do not necessarily anticipate nonfans will seek out or understand,” Duffett says. “It raises the question of whether a community can keep to itself and yet communicate in a public space.”
Beyoncé represents a monoculture at a moment when monocultures have gone all but extinct. For her, extreme fandom is both anchor and ascendence. There are downsides, unquestionably so, but the people who power Beyoncé’s platform provide a necessary function too: When the door has been slammed in her face and she’s told she’s not welcome inside, or when the Recording Academy twice overlooks her for Album of the Year, it is her fans who give her the authority to reboot country music in her image, and perhaps, in doing so, chart a new course altogether. “It would be cool if she never mentioned the Grammys again,” Luse said on X. “When you can do all this, who cares?”

watching a CNN documentary on the backlash to Beyonce going country and there's a dude there telling a story of attending the 2016 CMAs where Bey was performing "Daddy Lessons" with the Chicks and he was in ecstasy because it was so good, then he heard someone in the crowd behind him say "get that black bitch off the stage."
it's horrifying how they treated her! also I will never forget that performance it happened the same night the Cubs won the World Series and I watched the performance during the 17 minute rain delay and it calms me so much with how wonderful it was. But I remember the crowd looked like crickets. Kenny Chesney looked bored/confused
Faith Hill was clapping and singing along tho, good for her <3

Title: Cuteness Member - Ricky
Hello, August! 🏫🎒 No #OnThisDay throwback post for this date, but my G-Pal sammirthebear2k4 (formerly named: "rafacaz4lisam2k4") 🇬🇹 has been waiting for months just to see his HTF OC Ricky the pirate Chipmunk 🐿️⚓ in his first "Cuteness Mecha Armor" (since he's now a "Cuteness Member" from the academy), and so... The wait is over! 😁 I picked the armor "Flint" from Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam as a starter, but soon he'll be suited by a different powerful armor from the mech mateys at the "Crossbone Vanguard". Arrr! 😉🤖☠️⚓
Flint Ricky Based on: XM-10 Flint [CLICK ME!]
Armament(s):
• Vulcan Gun These head mounted shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire, but little power and are generally ineffective against armored opponents. However, they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors, and are ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
• Mega Machine Cannon The Flint is equipped with a pair of fire-linked mega machine cannons in its chest and they are stronger than the vulcan guns.
• Beam Saber The beam saber is the standard close-combat weapon of many CMA ("Cuteness Mecha Armor") suits, it emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-field that can cut through any physical armor not treated to resist it. The Flint is equipped with two beam sabers stored in shoulder racks when not in use. They also serve as the beam guns, as well.
• Heat Dagger An alternative close combat weapon, the heat dagger is unlike most heat weapons as its blade is heated using leftover heat from the leg's thrusters. The heated blade can melt the enemy's armor on contact, which when combined with the force applied to the attack can inflict significant damage. The heat daggers are stored in the legs, one in each calf. Normally, it is handheld when in use, but it can also slide out of the sole as a surprise attack.
• Beam Shield/Brand Marker Unlike an I-field generator, which is effective only against beam attacks, the beam shield blocks both beam and projectile weapons. The beam shield generates a plane of energy similar to the blade of a beam saber. This plane is divided into multiple sections, which can be turned on or off as needed to conserve energy. Individual sections are also automatically deactivated whenever they're in danger of coming into contact with the CMA suit itself. The beam shield generators of the Flint are mounted on the forearms, and can further take advantage of beam energy malleability, forming four short beam blades at the corners of the beam shield generator that meet at the center, which gives the brand marker as a whole a pyramidal shape. The brand marker slides over the fist of the CMA suit and is used as a punching weapon. When used, the the brand marker leaves an X-shaped hole, if the target area isn't completely destroyed.
• Zanbuster Unlike the ones used by the Crossbone CMA suits, the Flint's zanbuster has a new gunbarrel attachment instead of the traditional buster gun add-on.
○ Beam Zanber The beam zanber is a high power beam saber and is the primary weapon of the Flint. The hilt of the beam zanber is modeled after that of a traditional pirate cutlass, as is the beam blade when it is formed, and is stored on the left hip when not in use. The power of the beam zanber is significantly higher than that of ordinary beam sabers, such that it is easy for the Flint to overpower an enemy in melee combat or even "cut" through the beam of an ordinary beam saber.
• 120mm Machine Gun The machine gun serves as one of the Flint's ranged weapons. It fires physical rounds at a rapid rate and possesses enough firepower to destroy lightly armored CMA suits with ease.
Special Equipment/Feature(s):
• Anti-Beam Coating Cloak As with other Crossbone Vanguard CMA suits used, the Flint could be equipped with a cloth cloak that had been treated with an anti-beam coating. Functioning similar to the old physical shields that had received the same treatment, the cloak was used to protect the CMA suit from beam shots. With its size it could completely cover the CMA suit, with the exception of the head, providing full body protection. However, despite its advantages, one of which is conserving power, the cloak has two disadvantages. First, unlike a beam shield the cloak can only handle about 5 shots before the coating wears off, rendering the cloak to simple cloth. The second disadvantage is that the cloak offers no protection from physical weapons.
• Booster Unlike normal CMA suits, the Flint is equipped with long variable X-shaped thrusters, composed of four thrusters can be pointed at any direction: with the addition of AMBAC, the main thrusters allow high mobility around Jupiter's orbit, while combined into one huge rocket column they largely increased the unit's top speed, without increasing the size and mass of the CMA suit.
• Special Weapons Targeting System In order to increase the accuracy of the Flint, a Targeting System was equipped on this CMA suit. It's a high resolution camera, which takes the look of a pirate's eyepatch. This device was more than enough to raise the efficiency of the user.
• Blackrow Shipping Worker CMA Suit Disguise The Crossbone Vanguard created this device to hide the Flints. When they are inactive, the Flint was disguised as a Working CMA Suit of the Blackrow Shipping Company (A front company of the Pirates).

But they were ok when Justin Timberlake and Gwyneth Paltrow was singing up there
what's more infuriating is the fact that country music, rock & roll were created by black people!! & they have THE NERVE to want to & try to snub & shun US from participating?? absolutely infuriating. I hope she & others make them even more BIG MAD & keep doing it over & over!! CMAs you will crumble
And I just want to know right NOW WHO THE FRUCK CALLED HER THAT???? Drop the names and the hive will take care of the rest

All of these people witnessed freaking history and all they could do was turn their nose up in disgust as if it’s shameful that a black woman is performing country music. I hope all of them get the karma they deserve when she dominates the country music scene and inspire a lot of black artists to be country musicians while also highlighting black country musicians as well even those who are criminally underrated

But let’s say Taylor swift was black, Asian, or Mexican….and she wrote the same music that she does today and she had the same career start out, do y’all think she would’ve still been this successful?
Absolutely not. She was Country and Country hates black artists, which is why we now have Cowboy Carter considering how the CMAs treated Beyonce all those years ago. She never would have been played on the radios.
Correct

"Texas Hold 'Em" by Beyoncé
DV:
Conceptually I love the idea of Beyoncé making a country album - it's seemed like one was just around the corner ever since her CMAs performance with The Chicks eight(!) years ago. And making this Act II of the Renaissance project, reclaiming country music as Black music, makes perfect sense. I just wish the songs themselves didn't leave me so underwhelmed. "Texas Hold 'Em" is cute, don't get me wrong! It's catchy and memorable and fantastically produced - immaculate without being overpolished. It features some incredible artists who have been in the country/Americana space for years and deserve the bigger spotlight. I like it. But I also remember the first time I heard both "Break My Soul" and "Formation", and how both of those songs sounded like absolute revelations - lightning bolts in pop wrappers. "Texas Hold 'Em" sounds like a country song and feels like a country song, which is not an easy thing to pull off. But that's about as far as it goes - and it's not really fair to Bey, but I was expecting something more. I'm curious to see where the rest of the album lands, and I'm even more curious to see how country radio treats this - "Daddy Lessons" didn't even appear on the airplay charts.
MG:
The fact that "Texas Hold 'Em" was preceded by the return of Beyoncé's silly side via a Verizon Super Bowl commercial was, I think, a big clue about where along the spectrum of radio friendliness this first country single would fall. Before that commercial I, too, expected a more searing, rootsy, and avant-electronic exploration of the genre -- the kind of single that makes a case for Gil Scott Heron as a country artist. But I have to say, I'm actually delighted she swerved and I think it's classic Beyoncé to upend our desires, to challenge us in this way. As the introduction to the second act of Renaissance, "Texas Hold 'Em" clarifies the project's purpose a step further: it's an exploration of dance music foremost. This means it's not high concept art, not a history lesson, and not an autobiography even as it continues to use those creative lenses. On the Monday post-Super Bowl DV lamented to me that this song isn't forward enough, that it was written six years ago and it sounds like it, that it isn't breaking new ground in country music. This is all true, and I think it's the best criticism of this single, but neither then nor now is the charting country music suitable for line dancing. "Texas Hold 'Em" with its driving rhythm and bouncy swing just about demands you rock on your boot heel or slap your knee at the bar counter. The premise is uncomplicated and Beyoncé delivers -- whether or not "Texas Hold 'Em" gets airplay is kind of irrelevant, this is a song that belongs on the dancefloor.

it hurts my heart reading all the spoilers from the new BTS book not because they're spoilers, but because of how much sadness the guys went through. i met them in 2020. they could have ended in 2018 or 2019.
if it wasn't for BTS i would be in such a bad place right now.
because of them, specially Namjoon saying "your anger is valid", i left a job i thought i wanted my whole life. i went to this short school to be a medical assistant to work my way up the medical field because i've always wanted to be a doctor as a kid. well i got the cma job and it was awful. my first job at a hospital was bad, so i thought being at a doctor's office would be better. my boss was a raging racist who treated he staff of black workers like shit.
i was listening to Love by Namjoon everyday just letting the vibes heal me. i was so happy getting off work to listen to that particular song. i started to learn korean. i actually googled it and came across this huge youtuber who learned korean on her own and now lives in south korea. she talked about language school and a light bulb went off in my head. i was like, that's an option? this can be more than a hobby of mine to destress? because i love learning and i love learning how to communicate with others.
i quit my medical assistant job and gave up on being a doctor. after nearly over 2 decades of wanting it so bad. i kept getting blocked from it. and today i realized why. because it wasn't meant for me.
i finally understand the phrase "god (higher power of any sort) closes a door to protect you"
i could be tens of thousands of dollars in debt right now if i went to school to be a doctor. hundreds of thousands of dollars in fact. i'm not. i'm debt free at 31. not a lot of 90s babies can say that. and that makes me feel so lucky and grateful.
i suffer severe depression. i thought not getting to go to college was the worst thing that ever happened to me. turns out it was a blessing in disguise.
i now have new goals that make my heart actually happier. all thanks to BTS. to Namjoon's wordplay in Love. his vlog to ARMY about how our feelings and anger matter.
i'm so incredibly grateful for BTS being in my life. they helped me come to terms with the military trauma i suffered being in the usa air force as a teenager. i was just burying it and seeing them have to enlist gave me the courage to process my grief of being 19 and starting my hellish process of getting enlisted.
on good days or reflective days i do think everything happens for a reason. i mean, during my gratitude journaling i smile to myself thinking, all this pain in my life, all that grief, led me to 7 men in BTS and they make me so happy.
i took my first solo vacation to see Yoongi in concert at 31! the most ghetto stadium i s2g on the whole tour list, but i got to go! and i saw Jimin too! like i'm so incredibly proud of myself for traveling from georgia to new jersey by myself. i didn't think i could do it and i did!
i just wish them all the happiness and comfort in the world. they have given me so much! so much! i am forever thankful they stayed together and stayed in this music industry because i got to meet them.
and it's so wild because a lot of our last 10 years crossed at so many points and i'm like, wow, is this fate? was all this meant to be? it's weird sometimes looking back on this last decade. like i have minor ocd, and i avoided purple like the plague. and now? i have purple everything! purple and pink! i'm like, this is huge for me ok. they have just helped me so much.
i love them and i wish them all the love in the world. thank you BTS for making my life so much more filling. y'all gave me a new reason to live. i'm forever thankful.
borahae!

It’s CMA-
I can’t believe I forgot to mention in that bit about the first time she tells him about her parents and just the way he would be so tense and angry and silent and clover’s anxiety would be through the roof and she’d be panicking about his reaction when ever so slowly, so carefully, more gently than either of them even thought he was capable of being, he reaches towards her to hold her and tell her that that will never happen to her again.
And she’s scared and starting to cry and vulnerable and doesn’t know how to receive his comfort because she’s not used to it and also it’s not a big deal to her it’s just something that happened but what if he gets angry?? But just for the first time allowing herself to feel vulnerable and all of that and her fighting it but also giving up because she’s so tired and exhausted she’s been dealing with this for years and not even realizing the toll it’s been taking
And like there’s a lot in the literature about treating childhood trauma when the victim is an adult about like… healing their inner child and how when revealing this part of her is still that scared child and so Anthony isn’t just comforting her and telling her that she’s safe and nothing like that is ever going to happen to her ever again but also telling all of this to her childhood self.
It’s an apology for not being there though how could he have been? and an apology for all the things he wishes he could say but can’t because he’s not Benedict- he’s not emotionally mature enough to know what to say, to make overflowing promises and reassurances but what he can do is just hold her, right here and now and do everything in his power to protect her going forward.
And in some ways the hug is comforting and reassuring clover but it’s also comfort and reassurance to Anthony as well- bad things happened and he couldn’t stop it.
It’s his worst fear- bad things happening to people he loves and not having any control of when or how it might happen, as well as the reminder of all the bad things that could have happened that kept this moment from ever happening in the first place.
So he, maybe even more than she does, needs this moment to hold her, to reassure himself that her heart is still beating, that she’s safe now, that she survived and is okay and so, so loved and that from this point forward he can and will protect her from all harm.
I think it’s just this oddly vulnerable moment between them where neither is sniping at the other, they’re just sitting in silence for hours, both lost in their thoughts. Neither of them are good with words; they act more than they say and they think too much for their own good, but they can be there together.
I think it’s a confrontation for both of them of where clover was then- the realities of it hitting them both in these moments- and what this means for her future going forward.
and up to this point in their relationship they were both trading barbs with one another indiscriminately, trying to get under each others skin, to make the other break, keeping their guards up to avoid showing a vulnerability the other could exploit. Not because they ever thought the other was malicious- an important distinction- but because this was very much a personal challenge; a matter of pride more than anything.
And in this moment the last thing either of them is worried about is their pride. This is a situation that’s raw and vulnerable for both of them; pride has no place here nor should it.
And I think that this laying aside of arms fundamentally changes their relationship. Sharp barbs are changed to playful quips and banter instead because there’s suddenly an understanding of the complexity of one another and the respect they now have in their exchanges.
Before they didn’t really care about one another on a more personal level; they didn’t respect each other because they couldn’t be bothered to take the time to understand that the other is a fully complex human being with emotions and trauma and layers not unlike their own.
And that’s not an insult towards either of them, it’s just a reflection of how most everyone sees most everyone else in their lives; it’s hard to care about everyone when you’re already so busy caring about the people in your life.
But now there’s a foundational respect for one another and what they’re going through and how they feel and who they are as people. They’d obviously deny it if someone brought it up, but the two of them before were teetering on an edge and now they have irreversibly and undeniably fallen off that cliff into the great unknown that is terrifying and terrible but being together in this mess of everything is infinitely better than staying where they were, alone and in the dark.
Sorry to be spamming you with these thoughts but I feel like you should have known as soon as you posted that other ask about Anthony/clover that Id come running to go on and on about my favorite what if in the DCU (dream cinematic universe)
CMA my love!
First of all, never ever say sorry for this because you know how much I love it! ❤️
Secondly, DCU?! ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE ME CRY OF GIDDINESS OMG THIS IS SO SWEETTTTT😍❤️❤️
I have so many thoughts about this!
So first of all, ABSOLUTELY! Like, Clover allowing herself to be vulnerable would be huge and at first it would be only because she's completely exhausted 😱 And she would be so shocked if Anthony actually held her and assured her that it would never happen again, she would definitely have tears in her eyes but she would be trying so hard to keep it together ❤️
Anthony being at loss for words but still being protective and trying to make her feel safe, I just- 😍
Neither of them are good with words; they act more than they say and they think too much for their own good, but they can be there together. EXACTLY!
And like, it will definitely make tem see each other in a completely different light after that point! ❤️ I feel like Anthony basically became her guard from that moment, because like you said, Benedict can be very romantic with words but for Anthony it's mostly acts of service and such ❤️
and up to this point in their relationship they were both trading barbs with one another indiscriminately, trying to get under each others skin, to make the other break, keeping their guards up to avoid showing a vulnerability the other could exploit. Not because they ever thought the other was malicious- an important distinction- but because this was very much a personal challenge; a matter of pride more than anything. OH THIS IS SO TRUE! ❤️ It was a personal challenge for them both, and they both do have a lot of pride 😏 Mirroring each other's chaos ❤️
Sharp barbs are changed to playful quips and banter instead because there’s suddenly an understanding of the complexity of one another and the respect they now have in their exchanges. Yes! And I think it will be obvious to everyone just how that dynamic changed 😍
they have irreversibly and undeniably fallen off that cliff into the great unknown that is terrifying and terrible but being together in this mess of everything is infinitely better than staying where they were, alone and in the dark. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL OMG-
Darling I love your analyses so muuuuch! 😍😍😍
