Onewa fakes the weakest struggle possible and tells him he sucks at a host bc he doesnt even take him somewhere comfortable for this smh, and then as soon as he gets very gently pushed forward he splays himself down all wiggly with excitement. its very cute and also satisfying to see the resident contrarian like that. plus Nuju knows this low quiet coo that makes Onewa shiver really hard bc he likes it a lot and you KNOW hes teasing the hell out of him with it. theyre playing :)

and he also sort of plays with Whenua but in that case its more like they affectionately insult and tease one another the whole time. Whenua will sit him on his lap with some excuse like teaching him how to deal with an earthquake or smth and go at it and then Onewa will say "is that the best youve got?" with a shiteating grin and hell laugh like fuck off you pillow princess i dont see you doing much, and they go back and forth like that until Onewa starts struggling to think straight, at which point Whenua will tease him mercilessly until the other is just straight up incoherent and its time to ease him down a little more gently before his brain explodes. and then once theyre all good n resting he jokes that his stamina sucks and Onewa goes how DARE you and they have sleepy aftercare banter until one of them starts snoring

Vakama is the only one who doesnt tend to dick Onewa down. thats because hes one hell of a cowboy. hell be all unassuming, invite him for tea after meeting with him, chat a while, yknow, typical turaga stuff, and then oh whoops would you look at that its gotten too late you should stay over... and when Onewa smiles and goes "ohhh you sly lil firespitting bastard you done trapped me huh?" Vakama acts all innocent and denies all accusations while also actively seducing him. master of looking like an angel going "i dont know what youre talking about" while very gently laying him down on the bed, climbing over him, and sitting right on his crotch. and Onewa just lets him bc its hot as hell when the firespitters sort of softly in charge like this. plus from his perch atop him Vakama always leans down to give him smooches on the chin while hes riding the absolute shit out of him so hard that Onewa gets genuinely winded and its the best

they sometimes all get together for this kind of thing too. Can’t sleep, so I am creating a Catradora playlist with all my songs that I listen to and am like “YOOOOOO THATS SO CATRA AND ADORA!!!!!!!!”

They’re in no particular order aside from the last song, which I feel is the most like their dymanic. Okay!!! Here you go 😼

Turning Hate into Rage - Boundaries

This song is definitely more specific to Catra, there’s not really a point where I can imagine Adora feeling the emotions I associate with this song but I think it’s fine that way. They’ll both have their little solo moments in this playlist I think… So! I think this song is definitely around the point where Catra activated the portal and is losing her shit in the alternate reality she created. I think the spastic, unhinged nature of a band like Boundaries speaks to this part of Catra’s character, and it’s in overdrive for this song, clearly it’s very heavy and borderline psychotic. Some big lyrical moments in the song I associate with her are “I live and die by your comparison, your immortal perfection.” and “This world is an evil place and you still pretend, you pretend that you can hide” and “This world is evil and I am the Devil” Really the whole song is something I can imagine Catra screaming in Adora’s face as the warped reality she created collapsed on itself. It’s definitely Catra at her most resentful, and a very big moment for her character.

Alkaline - Sleep Token

Before continuing into the thoughts for this song I’ll have to ask you to excuse how much Sleep Token there will be on this playlist, it’s almost low hanging fruit cause Sleep Token’s music is so full of that desperate longing and unrequited love that they are both feeling for the whole series until the end. But unfortunately I DONT CARE AND SLEEP TOKEN IS FUCKING PERFECT FOR CATRADORA!!!!!! I really can’t picture a moment in the series where she might be saying it aloud, but I kinda picture lots of these lyrics in Adora’s head about Catra. To me these are the things that Adora is thinking about Catra throughout most of the show. Lyrics like in the chorus “…She’s perfectly misaligned, I’m caught up in her design, and how it connects to mine. I see in a different light, the objects of my desire.” and literally the whole first verse “Let’s talk about chemistry, cause I’m dying to break through, to the heart of her molecules, till the particles part like holy water. If anything she’s an undiscovered element, either born in hell or heaven sent, either way I’m into it.” First of all… fucking kill me, I love this song so much. Idk man, I feel like Adora has mad game in her head but is too goofy to say anything like those thoughts out loud to her. All of the sexy ass lyrics that Sleep Token writes, Adora is for sure thinking about her stupid mean cat lover.

Easily Erased - Boundaries

*Realizing that these are like the only 2 bands I’ve been listening to for like at least 10 days, sorry if it makes this playlist lame, I hyper fixate on bands so hard.* This song I feel exemplifies the anxiousness they feel toward each other. They both know on their own that they love the other but trust each other so little that nothing can be done about it, leaving them wishing that they could just get over the other. The first words of the song speak a lot to this idea to me “I still see you when I close my eyes. I can’t even know peace when you’re not near me.” We see them haunting each other’s dreams multiple times in the show soooooo.. otherwise there’s the chorus “Will you break all of the promises that you made? For you it should be easy to erase.” side note, this is the best song on this album, should you ever listen to it, so fucking good… but anyway, I think dynamic of them spending so long longing for each other but being stopped not only by their opposing circumstances within the Horde and the Rebellion, but also their inability to trust one another.

Realize and Rebuild - Boundaries

This one to me, when I hear this song and specifically the part I’ll reference, I see the scene of Catra sacrificing herself to save Glimmer’s life while on Horde Prime’s ship. This is what I feel Catra must’ve been thinking while she thought she must’ve been in the last moments of her life. After telling Adora that she’s so sorry and making her greatest effort to redeem herself by saving her friend, she was probably ready to just die at peace, I know I would lol. And in that moment I hear her thinking this spoken word part at 1:28 in the song “The world walks by my cage, as I attempt to colour each day. In a way that makes me want to stay. In a way that makes me worth the air that I breathe. My charity is in excess in the company of death. I have so much to give when there’s no one left. I have so much to give. I have so much to give. Rebuild.” That scene made me cry SO very much, btw. Absolutely Catra’s peak moment to me.

Jaws - Sleep Token

Peak sexy Sleep Token song. I think song fits their vibe so well. I feel it definitely plays on some internal dialogue that they could be having. This song feels like one that links the two together. Some lyrics I feel are very fitting for this point are “And I’m not here to be the savior you long for, only the one you don’t.” Makes me think the scene after the princess prom where Adora catches Catra from falling off the cliff side, or where Catra gives Adora back her sword in the fright zone. Those moments are where they are choosing each other. No matter the situation, they clearly want to just be free of the pain of being enemies. Lyrics in the chorus “…show me what you’ve lost, and why you’re always taking it slow. Show me all the wounds you’ve got, show me love.” I can feel them just wanting. One of the biggest themes of their relationship, obviously, is just the raw desire.

The Offering - Sleep Token

This song I can kinda just hear during the whole kiss scene, disabling the heart. It feels like Catra pouring everything out for Adora, just begging her to see how much she FUCKING LOVES HER!!!! The final chorus of the song “Give up the game and let me in. My arms belong around you. So take a bite…” and with that Adora finally says what she longs to hear so badly, that she loves her too. Not that much more to write about this one tbh, it just feels really right to me, it feels like the outpouring of love for each other in that moment.

Rain - Sleep Token

If you have read to here and you are going to listen to any one of these songs, PLEASE CHOOSE THIS ONE. Not a single part of this song doesn’t feel like the two of them to me. It could be because I have listened to it about 50 thousand times in the past few days just thinking about them, but seriously, listen to it and think about all the best scenes of them. I’m not even going to write any of the lyrics cause fucking ALL of them are perfect. If you wanna know why you gotta go listen, you are now contractually obligated. 🤝 Far and away my favorite Sleep Token song, it’s perfect, I literally don’t know what else to say.

Love You To Life - American Theory

If one of these songs is Adora’s it’s this one. It speaks to the way Adora absolutely never gave up on Catra no matter what. This song to me is what Adora’s optimism and her faith for her lover sounds like. The chorus “I wanna know what it’s like when you hit the bottom. So I can be there by your side. I wanna love you to life. Show me how you fight through an endless battle. So we can fight it side by side. I wanna love you to life.” Fuuuuck bro can you not imagine her saying these things to her? It’s so cute to think about, makes me fucking sick.

(And a little tangent about this band… they are absolutely phenomenal and so underrated. I saw them live and when they played this song the vocalist Devyn talked about how he had just married his wife who he wrote this song for, so fucking cute. They were so kind to me when I talked to them, lovely lovely people. They laughed with me, they immediately felt like they were my friends, and that they cared so much about people that took the time to see them play. Thinking about that show almost always makes me cry, I’m crying about it RIGHT NOW, okay sorry I promise this is still about Catradora, lol.)

Okay, seriously every single word to this song is exactly them. The whole thing that’s so cute and so beautiful about Catradora is all the struggle it took for them to finally give in and realize how much they need one another. This song details two people who are lost in a battle that they long to give up on if it means they could just let it all go and love each other. The first words of the song are “You shout cease fire, but the booms and bangs keep drowning out your cries, and the world comes crashing down around your eyes. And before mine.” Immediately I can envision everything that they destroyed while fighting each other. They destroyed people, they destroyed cities, they destroyed anything in the way of the other on the path to destroying them. But even through all that destruction it was never ever hate that fueled either of them, it was destruction through blind devotion. The chorus “I’d lay down my guns, if I weren’t the only one. And I’d give up this fight if it meant we’d sleep tonight. And I’d go gladly through the flames if it meant you’d speak my name with love in your voice.” It’s so clear that they’d both give up fighting if they weren’t under the illusion that they were fighting for different things. In the end all it took was one real display of vulnerability for them to make peace with each other and allow themselves the love that they were choosing not to see. I love this song so much, it’s absolutely everything that Catradora means to me.

4. How many WIPs do you have right now?

actually shockingly few! ever since i finished my big owl house editing pass back in june i've not done a whole lot in terms of projects...and recently i've been playing rain world so instead of writing im playing rain world like 24/7. currently my only main project is the dess raises kris au, and in that 'verse the only thing i'm writing right now is a dess/chara relationship study. i WOULD finish it, but, uh. rain world. (<- guy who is trying so hard not to write rain world fic. i probably wont but also i am always tormented by ideas. but consider i have to tell the story of my slugpup scooter SCOOTER I WONT EVER FORGET YOU--)

5. What's a fic idea you've had that you will never write?

probably countless that i do not remember right now! but digging around through my drafts, i've got a few deltarune daemon aus that won't ever see the light of day...one of them was a fangame where the player played as one of kris's two daemons, and the other was a fic where ralsei was kris's daemon. the ideas from there have basically been repurposed elsewhere--a lot of my kris&ralsei stuff went into various works, and the fangame stuff is being reworked into the dess raises kris au.

beyond that, in terms of things that are actually abandoned and won't be used elsewhere, there are so many daemon aus that i've left behind for one reason or another, though the gravity falls transcendence au is the one that i think was the best...that one postcanon his dark materials fic i was gonna write where lyra and pan return to will's world and cause general shenanigans there with him and kirjava...a vera-centric son of sea foam wings of fire au because vera is the love of my life and i was rereading wings of fire bc i felt nostalgic....oh my god fantasy high SOPHOMORE YEAR FIC, which i tried to start TWICE, once from fig's pov and once from ayda's that was their road trip back home and i have some very funny snippets from...MY INFINITY TRAIN DAEMON AU WAIT THAT ONE STILL GOES SO HARD ACTUALLY. okay drop everything ive ever said the fact that i never wrote my infinity train book two daemon au is a travesty. i was cooking with that one.

sort of! i usually always have at least one or two songs i connect to any given fic, but in terms of what i listen to when actually WRITING, it's changed over the years. i used to put on compilations of video game music--usually utdr, pmd, and then just whatever got recommended to me lol--then i did like. those character playlists people make on youtube? mostly bc they tended to pull from the same pool of songs so it became good background noise lol. now i use the youtube mix or whatever its called for a similar reason--it tends to play the same handful of songs ive listened to a lot, so they dont distract me.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

oh i LOVE this question, and it would be without a doubt my nimona daemon au oh, are you at all like me. nimona itself is obviously both a comic and a movie, and i'd say animated film since the fic follows the movie plot more--i think there'd be a LOT of really cool scenes you could get with that fic. i also think i could make killer animatics based on my fics if i could draw good enough <3 and thats not a joke i have scripts and sketch storyboards and everything. maybe one day i'll finish one of those.

Awase - he somehow manages to sound like a dieing pig, and a acream at the same time but somehow his voice can be really good in certain situations

Sen - his voice is okay but he cant hold a note to save his life

Kamakiri - he doesnt really sing as much as he screams...

Kuroiro - he tries to make the lyrics all dark and edgy but he just ends up sounding like the black crayon from the crayon song. If ykyk

Kendo - shes above average in singing skill and shes a bit more confident than most. She has more range with higher notes though.

Kodai - she has a softer voice than most and is overall a kinda shy singer but its really good.

Komori - shes always up beat and energetic when she sings. She always puts her whole heart into every note and does her best no matter what.

Shiozaki - acapella or whatever that really slow church type of singing is called lol

Shishida - he definitely has a more 'old school' singing style but he sounds a lot better than people would think. Though its hard for him to hold a note for most newer songs

Shoda - hes very quiet and shy when he sings alone and hes kinda bland but when hes singing with someone (like background vocals) he can really bring out their voice.

Pony - shes always happy and upbeat when she sings. Its a bit harder for her to sing slower songs because of that but shes definitely above average voice wise.

Tsubaraba - he has a good voice but he only sings meme songs... he will sing 'the actual cannibal shia leabouf' with his whole heart in such a serious tone (idk if thats how you spell his name but whatever lmao)

Tetsutetsu - he puts his entire soul into the song just to sound like a dieing cow... but he does have passion

Manga - hes way too dramatic for his own good. During any song he sings hes throwing himself around and putting his soul in every note... its kinda funny to watch tho. His voice itself is kinda average though

Honenuki - hes calm and has a good voice but is overall, kinda akward when he sings. Hes too focused on hitting the right notes to be overly dramatic.

Bondo - he has a deeper voice and is better at being the background vocals for some of the more high pitched students. Hes overall better at being a bass than anything else (music kinda bass not the fish)

Monoma - hes the token theater kid. He sings well and he puts his entire soul into every single note.

Reiko - shes good at singing higher notes but the lower she goes the harder it is for her to hold a note (or even make a sound)

Rin - hes pretty average when it comes to singing but he can easily switch languages in the middle of a verse to make it sound a bit cooler. That also makes it to where some songs only he (pony and honenuki) can preform

My first thought was to say songs that reminds me of them singing but I only listen to about 3 different artists so....

HAHAHA ok yeah well in that case i would honestly stand by my original top 10 list!! but here are 5 honorable mentions that didn't make that original cut

you're on your own kid -- if midnights gave us one good thing it was this song. holy shit. i can't believe she didn't release this as a single and do like, a career retrospective style music video for it -- i feel like that could've been so beautiful. that instrumental that comes before the final chorus/bridge just FEELS like a montage waiting to happen (side note but thats what i always wish she'd leaned more into with midnights -- she could've done so much cool stuff with the "career retrospective" aspects of that album, which would've dovetailed so nicely with the eras tour/rerecording eras -- and instead it was like, 70s night aesthetic? idk i just wish she'd really leaned into the whole "exploring my past through my present lens" part of midnights bc like, yeah that was cool!! idk why you didn't talk about that more actually!)

seven -- what an insane song. like the whole first verse is just perfection to me lyrically and her like wistful vocals in the high register over that gorgeous piano line... perfection. no notes. perfect song

holy ground -- sorry but the re recording of this song sucks, but the original is so good. those driving drums, the backing vocals in the final chorus, the ... desperation in her voice -- i love it!! and it has some amazing lyrics -- i love "while having coffee all alone" (wonderful image that ties so sweetly into begin again "on a wednesday in a cafe" -- like on red, we go from the lovers being together but hidden from the world in state of grace "we are alone just you and me, up in your room and our slates are clean" and alone in the kitchen in all too well "dancing in the kitchen in the refrigerator light" and then she kind of emerges out into the world in holy ground in that coffee all alone line, and then by the end she meets someone new but they're in a cafe together -- idk i just kinda love that progression) and also the line "back when you fit my poems like a perfect rhyme" being a perfect rhyme with "time" -- it's so clever and cool. love that one too (holy ground and state of grace are like sisters to me tbh, being the best songs on red and they kind of speak to each other -- i mentioned the alone/together part but there's also "i'm walking fast through the traffic lights" vs. "took off faster than a green light go" which is also a connection i love.)

invisible string -- i can't quite believe i didn't include it in my original list. it might be my favorite song she's ever written. also the guitar they use on the recording is so cool, i loved getting to see it in the long pond sessions. "time, mystical time, cutting me open and healing me fine" is just <33333 so beautiful

this love -- i feel like this love doesn't get enough credit for how much work it’s doing on 1989 because it's more understated but i just think it's SO BEAUTIFUL. i've said before it ties together so much of the 1989 imagery and has so many callbacks to other songs but still stands alone so beautifully -- like all the water imagery tying into clean but the "lantern burning" connecting to all the fire/flames on 1989.... so perfect. the comparison of a lover coming and going to the tide... obsessed?? and "been losing grip on sinking ships" / "loose lips sink ships all the damn time" and "struggled through the night with someone new" / "you been out and about with some other girl [...] i been there too a few times" and "this love is alive back from the dead" / "stand there like a ghost shaking from the rain" and "in silent screams and wildest dreams" / "say you'll see me again even if it's just in your wildest dreams" ugh I COULD GO ON (and on on and on AND I WILL) -- i love that songggggggg

Which [first] trial cover do you enjoy the most, and why? - for t1 its definitely mikoto's monopoisoner with zero contest except MAYBE kotoko's antibeat or haruka's 2bw... monopoisoner was already my one of my favorite songs from continew and the scarier more tense & horror-adjacent arrange is suuuch a good match especially with hanae's vocals!!!

Which [second] trial cover do you enjoy the most, and why? - haruka's android girl!! close runner up would be kotoko's streaming heart, but android girl will forever be my favorite out of t2... i think haruka's genre in general is just one of my favorites, and horie's vocals are SO good always. ntm the slight "trap-adjacent" segment in the first verse, which is muu's main genre too?!?! perfect cover to me...

1. What do you think of [Haruka] and why? - i never talk about him that much because i'm not too well-versed in his character, but i love him soo much as a character he's so coollllll!!! i think he's one of the best depictions of an intellectual disability or disability in general i've seen in fiction. his whole "compared child" & envy-driven murder aspect is also something i realllyy enjoy about his character. this isn't a haruka-exclusive thing, but i also like how they tricked us initially with a "perfect victim" narrative and then threw that out once his verdict was granted ♥️ he's the perfect opening prisoner for milgram

5. What do you think of [Mikoto]'s song/s? - i have >11k listens on their songs i sure wonder...... anyway I really really REALLY like them and am obsessed with their genre-fuckery. MeMe was my favorite from t1, and double, though not my favorite (despite all my listens,) rewired my brain completely.. i think it was me rewatching MeMe that actually got me into milgram discussion instead of just being a casual viewer, so thank you mikoto!!!

So you stop yourself everytime, hoping that we can talk comfortably again. you felt like maybe why you feel so bad is because you love me as a friend and, you’re scared thats going to happen is that you’re just going to get blocked then boom never get to speak again. its hard for you to keep thinking about it just randomly you go to bed, then you wake up and you wont see my name there anymore. like you got it though your head. what you did was your mistake, but its just thinking about the chance of waking up and it all going to be real then. it doesn’t help that the other mistakes you’ve done just come back as well. even the ones that you told your dad you were going to be fine and fix, but you never got to before he died. so you’re just trying your best to be normal again but its getting harder and harder. you’re afraid of losing someone you trust most and seems like they care. Our story is just like the song “Promise” by Laufey. This specific verse: “I’ve done the math. there’s no solution. we’ll never last. Why can’t I let go of this?”. The song perfectly explains our relationship. We know we should leave, but we can’t. We know that we’re fading apart but, we keep coming back. “No matter how long I resist temptation, I will always lose. It hurts to be something, It’s worse to be nothing with you.”
