35. “Have you ever heard of personal space?”

“You don’t have to go there if you don’t want to,” Even said as he sat on the couch reading some news article on his phone. “Like, nobody is forcing you.”

“Lea is my sister, Even,” he reasoned. “If she’s getting married, then I have to go.”

Even sighed and sat his phone down on the couch. “I thought that you liked this guy,” he argued. “When you visited her you said that he was very nice.”

“He is nice, Even. He’s fucking amazing and she’s perfect. That’s why I have to go,” he said frantically.

Even furrowed his eyebrows. “Then I’m not sure that I really understand what the problem here is.”

Isak didn’t know how his boyfriend could be so fucking blind. “She’s perfect and I’m gay,” he stated.

His boyfriend blinked for a few moments. “Isak, I think you’re being dramatic.”

“Dramatic?!” he exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air. “I am not being dramatic. In fact, if anything, you’re downplaying the entire situation.”

“Being gay doesn’t make you any less perfect,” Even reasoned.

Isak crossed his arms. “I know that, obviously. But does my family think the same thing?”

Even hauled himself up off of the couch and made his way over to Isak. “Does it really matter what they think?” he asked before running his fingers through Isak’s hair.

Yes, it absolutely did matter what his family thought of him. Isak lightly shoved his boyfriend away.

“Have you ever heard of personal space?” he retorted. Even back up a few steps and kept his arms at his sides. Isak didn’t want to be touched right now and Even understood and accepted that.

“I just think that you don’t need to focus so much on what other people think,” Even said softly, as not to make things worse. “You know who you are and I know who you are. You’re amazing and that’s what really matters.”

“I just want to them to love me for me,” Isak replied quietly. “And I want them to see what a fantastic guy you are.”

“Maybe they will,” he pointed out. “But there’s only one way to know for sure. You need to face your fears and show them how fucking in love we are.”

Isak bit his lip and looked up at his boyfriend. “Okay,” he started, “I think that I might be ready for a hug now.”

Even stepped forward and wrapped him in his arms. Isak had never truly felt loved until he met Even and he supposed that, if people couldn’t see it, then their opinion didn’t really matter anyway.

Headcanon A: Linn wanted Noora to move in more than Eskild did. Eskild is, of course, always ready to accept a baby gay into their home, but Linn saw something in Noora: she saw herself. She saw her own sadness, her own struggles. She saw herself aged 15/16, and she wanted to help Noora because she didn’t feel like she could help herself.

Headcanon B: Every time Linn got chlamydia, it was from a guy or girl she’d slept with, except for once–when it was from a koala she’d held.

Headcanon C: People think Linn is too depressed to party, or go out, or do things with friends. But that’s not always true. Sometimes, all Linn wants to do is go out, but nobody ever invites her because they think she’s too tired and won’t go. When she got invited to the kosegruppa neon party, she was so happy, even though she knew it was only because she lived where it was hosted.

Headcanon D: Linn and Even are bffs and they bond while he lives there (lbr, Even basically lived there w Isak lmao) and they still go out for dinner or something every once in a while

Listen I know for a fact that they carry that through every single house they live in, and add to the collection. By the time they buy a house and Even's career's taken off while Isak's working hard at his own job, the Art Wall™ is now in the center of their living room, filled with their kids' artwork, Even's doodles and portraits, Isak's dad jokes and in the center of it all: Alt Er Love.

Do you ever feel scared to sleep? Like there's this whole world you're going to miss out on if you close your eyes for too long?

last night, probably around the time you sent this, i was struggling with fear of sleeping. couldn’t keep my eyes open and kept nightmaring. and yes, i have the fear you mention here, in seasons. sometimes i go months completely convinced i don’t need sleep, that i’m missing half the day by going unconscious, even if im not entirely sure i want to be around to experience it.

the only thing that i’ve found to help is to fall asleep to music.. rap or just certain playlists, and eli turned me onto minecraft music lol. it quiets the thoughts, i guess.

I’m ... honestly it seems so perfect for them doesn’t it? Because they just fit so seamlessly together and at the same time they never once violate each other’s boundaries. It’s always the push and pull, like a dance where they are both so in tune with each other’s needs that they know when they need their space to breathe and when they need to be challenged, a gentle tug of encouragement to get them to discover the strength of character that was inside them all along. They seem to create their own world, their own private bubble when they are together and it happens in such a natural and easy way!

70. “I can’t do this on my own.”97. “Your life was my life’s best part.”

Eva has seen a lot of sides of Noora. Her angry side, her happy side, her Justin Bieber loving side (this side never faded, even on the bad days), the sides that Noora never wanted her to see. Her favorite side is the most authentic one, the one when it’s barely seven in the morning and they’ve just woken up and Noora’s smile is still bright even so. This is the side she never thought she’d see, not so soon. The side of Noora that’s 73 years old, hair still blonde as ever, hooked up to so many machines that Eva is tired of hearing them beep.

Noora’s been sick for the better part of the last year and a half. They take it day by day, going with whatever comes their way. Most recently, Noora’s been sleeping more and more, and Eva’s begun to fear that maybe one of these days, she won’t wake up.

She tries not to think about things like that. If it’s Noora’s time then so be it, they’ve lived a good life full of love and happiness and Eva’s at peace with the fact that their lives are limited. She tries to live for the here and now, for the way Noora’s hand still squeezes hers.

Some days get harder than others. On days like today, when Noora’s been sleeping for 11 hours and counting, Eva can’t help but cry, because she knows they don’t have much longer together, and Eva wants forever.

“I can’t do this on my own,” she whispers, tears in her eyes, barely audible over the beeping machines. “I don’t know how to live without you anymore. I don’t know how to sleep without you, how to eat without you, how to go to the store without you. I don’t know how to breathe without you there, Noora, you have to teach me how. You have to tell me how, because I can’t do this alone.” The tears fall on their own accord, and Eva’s shaky, frail hands wipe at them.

Her age is showing, too. She has more wrinkles than freckles and her skin is pale and she’s showing some signs of dementia, maybe, if what her doctor says is true. She guesses it is, but then again, seven months ago they gave Noora six months to live, and here they are.

“I know Dr. Olson says I’m forgetting,” Eva whispers, voice so full of water that if Noora was awake, she wouldn’t be able to understand anyway. “I don’t want to forget. I don’t want to forget you when you’re gone. I don’t… Your life was my life’s best part. When I lose you, I don’t want to lose that memory, too. It’s all I have. You’re all I have. Please don’t let me forget, please, god, don’t let me forget.”

Eva cries harder than she means to, but Noora squeezes her hand, gentle as ever, and that means more than anything.
