The daughter's of Lady midnight: oc introduction
I introduced a new wip yesterday. Here are first patch of the characters. These are the assasins of Lady midnight. Other character's will be on a separate one.
All pics are from pinterest. Send me an ask if you know the og creator.
Tw: lot of murder talk, mention of a racist attack
Lillian Blackburn aka "the ember"
Age: 27
The most well known killer in London since jack the ripper. Best known for the cross she leaves in her victim's bodies in a cross formation. Taught by a french soldier during her time as a nurse in the war how to use a gun.
Lillian Blackburn has been a cynic ever since her brother, the only living family member, died in a great war. There has always been only one person she trusts fully: herself. She has never even trusted Lady midnight, the enigmatic widow of a king of london crominal underground, who gave her a job as a assasin to Lady midnight's growing network, and a cabaret singer by day. Only time she has fully let herself trust someone, was the biggest mistake she has ever done. Victor Sharpe, her would-have-been husband.
Inez Morley aka "the crimson"
Age: 19
Inez Morley, even as full blown member of the assasin group, is the one not taken seriously, mostly due to her using seduction as a part of her killings. She is the most loud and brash of the group, getting into most trouble with the law, but get off most easiest with lady midnight. Lady midnight swears Inez to be the heir of her empire, a child of her and her late husband only known as Mr. Morley, but her darker skintone looks more like Mr. Morley's former assistant Gian Raval.
Inez loves her work though. She loves her weapons, the look on people's faces when they pass. She even loves her coworker's, especially Loretta, but totally non-sinful way.
Loretta Spencer aka "Scarlett"
Age: 20
Loretta Spencer is the sweetest of the daughter's. So sweet, you couldn't guess in your wildest dreams her profession as a killer. Loretta hates what she does, which she does only to stay with her mother, and repay Lady midnight for helping her with Loretta's abusive father. That's how her mother explained it at least.
Loretta has a plan to get out of killing, which includes Lady midnight's assistant Farhan Raval, and the happy ending she has imagined in her head. One without murder, bloodshed and poison.
Laila Spencer aka "nightshade"
Age: 38
Laila Spencer is a woman that has been trough hell and back. She got pregant at 18, lived on a street with a newborn, and finally, finally after a while, agreed to become the first female assasin under Lady midnight. Laila knows how the life has been to her, and the last thing she wants is for her daughter to repeat her mistakes. Still, even after all that has happened to her, she never stops being goodhearted abd softspoken.
Nellie Mitchell aka "Velvet"
Age: 24
The singer of the moonlight Cabaret where all the daughters perform in. When Nellie was a child, after her parents traveled from USA to UK for a better life, she was attacked by local kids which made her limp slightly while walking. It also gave her the most brutal of the murder weapons: a metallic cane Lady midnight gifted herself.
Nellie, like Laila, understands the shelter being under Lady Midnight was the most out of the group. Nellie has always dreamed of bigger, so much bigger than she felt was capable.

HOMILY for the Christmas Mass during the Night
Isa 9:1-7; Ps 95; Titus 2:11-14; Luke 2:1-14
Christmas is a declaration of war! Or to be more precise, the birth of God in the flesh, in our world, in our human condition, makes visible and manifests in blood and bones and in our own human body, the spiritual warfare that began when the angels had fallen in love with themselves. For the angels had fallen through pride, which is essentially an overblown love of one’s own excellence, and an overestimation of one’s own correctness combined with a desire to dominate others, and so to get my own way always. Pride, in short, is believing that “I know best”.
And so the angels’ rebellion infected humanity, and Eve had thought she knew better than God how to gain for herself happiness, and freedom, and the knowledge of good and evil. This temptation to create our own meaning, and reality, and happiness independently of God has never gone away, so dictators wage wars, and families continue feuds, and our hearts become battlegrounds – all because of pride. So Mankind fell out of love with God, and so we began to “walk in darkness” as Isaiah says.
But tonight God comes to shatter the darkness: “On those who live in a land of deep shadow a light has shone.” By his coming as Man, Jesus himself enters into the fray, and because he is God so he comes with victory to end this mad war, this insane rebellion against Mankind’s highest and truest good. For one of the insights of St Thomas Aquinas is that every act of sin is a lapse of reason, a kind of momentary insanity as we knowingly choose an apparent good over the true Good, God himself! Hence God comes to break the heavy burden of Mankind’s sin, the rod of pride that stiffens our will. Thus (Isaiah says) “the yoke that was weighing on him, the bar across his shoulders, the rod of his oppressor, these you break as on the day of Midian” – just in case you’ve forgotten, this refers to a battle between Gideon and his 300 soldiers against the vast army of Midian, and Gideon was victorious against the odds because God’s power was with Gideon and his men. And so at Christmas, God declares war on all that separates us from him, or turns us against him, and in doing so, they would diminish our humanity.
Hence, an army of the good heavenly angels appears in the night sky outside Bethlehem declaring “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace to men who enjoy his favour.” This, in fact, is a declaration not merely of war but of victory already won as peace is restored to men and women who live by God’s favour, meaning, for anyone who will receive his grace and live by it; anybody who will thus allow God to be their ally and friend. As St Paul said to Titus: “God’s grace has been revealed, and it has made salvation possible for the whole human race and taught us that what we have to do is to give up everything that does not lead to God, and all our worldly ambitions”. In other words, Christ comes to lead us away from all that would lead us away from God and so end the strife begun so long ago. Therefore, tonight, by his birth among us, God declares war on sin, on pride, which leads us away from God. God comes to us to fight for humanity’s liberation from vices and evil, not with material weapons nor even with a mighty army of angels. Rather, God takes flesh and is born of the virgin Mary, born for us, as a vulnerable, little, human baby. There, lying in the manger – a domestic animal’s feeding trough! – helpless and vulnerable in his little body, is the Creator and Sustainer of All that Is. Isaiah, excitedly gives him a string of titles: “Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace” – many of us will hear these titles, I think, and hear the stirring music of Handel in the back of our minds. Nevertheless, no grand music, nor red and gold decor, nor warm glowing lights should distract us from this strange truth, this marvellous mystery, the sheer creativity of the divine stratagem of war that bring us our peace.
For born in the cave at Bethlehem, and gawped at by outcast shepherds, and wrapped in simple strips of linen cloth is God himself, God-with-Us, a human baby. And this baby, even before he is full grown, is already our champion and warrior and victor in the ancient war against sin and pride.
How? For the root of all sin, as we saw when the angels fell, is pride. So God, in answer, comes in all humility to demonstrate humility. Come to the manger and see the humility and meekness of God in the flesh. And Christ comes to teach us humility. This is enacted in a striking manner if you were to visit the Grotto where Jesus was born in Bethlehem: To get down into that small cave, you’d first have to stoop down and make yourself small, squeezing through an ancient doorway that leads into the birthplace of Christ. However, Christ teaches us not to become small physically - that is not his intention – but rather he wants to teach us to humble our thoughts, our intellect, our fundamental attitudes.
And so tonight Christ, born for us, is here to teach us humility. For when we come to the altar, here in church, we see the humility and meekness of Christ. Because Jesus is present for us in the Eucharist, hidden under the appearances of bread and wine. So, in the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is held up for us to adore and worship as God, and given to us here in Holy Communion, but we can only do this fruitfully if we have learnt to be humble and docile, if we can truly say, “God knows best”, and so we trust in the teachings of God’s Word given to his Church. God knows how this mystery of the Eucharist comes to be – our human minds will always fail to fathom this sublime sign of God’s love and humility. Certainly, the angels themselves marvel and wonder at the humility of this great Sacrament. Hence St Francis of Assisi said: “O sublime humility! O humble sublimity! That the Lord of the whole universe, God and the Son of God, should humble himself like this and hide under the form of a little bread, for our salvation.” So, if you marvel that God is so great that he can humble himself and become a little baby, so we marvel that Jesus, who took flesh from the Virgin Mary, is truly present here and now, just as he had been in Bethlehem. For tonight, and indeed, at every single Mass, the church becomes Bethlehem, which means ‘the house of bread’, and the altar becomes the manger, the feeding trough, because from it you and I are fed with Jesus himself – we receive his Body and Blood into our own bodies, we become united to his flesh. This is the true wonder of Christmas that is extended to us day after day in the Mass. As Pope St Leo the Great said: “God took the nature of a servant… enlarging our humanity without diminishing his divinity.”
Christ comes to us in the Sacraments, therefore, to enlarge our humanity. Christ comes, therefore, to fight with us, alongside us, and indeed, within us. As St Paul says to Titus that Christ has “sacrificed himself for us in order to set us free from all wickedness and to purify” us. Hence Christ empties himself and gives us himself, giving us his grace in the Sacraments especially in the Eucharist, so that we might share in his victory, so that we might taste the goodness of God, and enjoy his peace.
Today, then, war has been declared and victory has been won. For today the Word became flesh and dwells among us. The prophet Isaiah says that it is the “jealous love of the Lord of Hosts” that motivates this, meaning, God’s all-consuming and intense love for humanity, for you and for me. St Thomas Aquinas suggests that God became Man, a little baby lying in the manger in Bethlehem, “so that even children could know and love God as someone like themselves”. Therefore, in this Christmas season do visit the Crib, our Nativity Chapel, or whatever favourite image of the birth of Jesus you have, and pray and ask that you can come to know and love Jesus, God-with-us, who is born for this. Or, if you ever find yourself sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, if you are anxious and frustrated and lonely and feeling unloved, come to Mass more often, and come to adore the Lord in the Eucharist, and discover the true beauty and miracle and wonder of Christmas. For as J. R. R. Tolkein said: “Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament… There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth”.
Therefore, tonight, gathered around the manger that is this altar, we sing our victory song: “O come let us adore him, o come let us adore him, o come let us adore him, Christ the Lord!”

Loararyn tried to break free from the guards that were almost dragging her to the council room. Her heart was pounding against her chest.
She could only hope that the group she was leading would come for her. Who is it to say that they might have decided that she is only a loss to them?
The guards forced her to a stop when they got to the council room. The guards had heard what the king had said and they are pissed off that someone thought that they would be able to get away with it.
For a moment all she could hear was the whispers around them. The council look tired and as if they wished that they were anywhere else.
Arthur stood up, giving her a quick once over. His eyes harden slightly when he saw the smirk on her face.
“Princess Loararyn of the West Island, you are bought under trail for trying to bring King Arthur Pendragon down with the help of a love potion. Do you understand what the charge is against you?” Leon was the one who stood up to bring up the charge.
Loararyn’s eyes shifted to the knight, there was a hardness in her eyes that sent a shiver down Leon’s spine.
“Yes.” Loararyn presented herself just like a queen would, even when she was scared to her stomach on the inside, she made sure that it didn’t show.
“Why did you do it?” Leon easily continued with the questions.
Loararyn looked at Arthur. “Because my people are suffering, this was the only change they would have had to get a better life. When I learned that the king already had someone he loved, I decided that the best course of action would be a love potion.
“They aren’t hard to make. But I swear that every blood person in this castle would find a way to make sure he is safe, first I had tried the kitchens, but the cook just shooed me off like I was some errant child.
“I tried to follow him, to learn more but nope that didn’t even work out because that pet sorcerer of him keeps getting in the way. So I placed a mild mind-control spell on the boy serving him last night, making sure the tankard was spiked with the potion.
“But not even that had worked since he loves that boy so much.” Loararyn felt everything bubbling out of her. She was tired of trying to do the right thing, to keep the people alive.
Her eyes closed for a moment, she could feel the magic surrounding Camelot. With a smirk and wide eyes, she looked up.
“I am truly sorry to say, but at least you had tried, your kingdom will fall.” Before she could continue the door burst open.
Merlin gave Arthur one look and they know that the time has come for them to take up arms and fight.
“Sorry for the interruption but Camelot is under attack.” Merlin was slightly out of breath.
They could hear the faint roar in the background and Arthur gave Merlin a look. The knights weren’t ready for this, but Arthur knows that they will stand and fight as long as they can.
“Get all of the woman and children into the caves under the castle. I want every man that can wield a sword in the yard. We will fight for Camelot as long as we can.” Arthur’s voice was hard.
The council scattered to follow orders.
When Arthur turned to Merlin, his eyes softened. He knows that there is no way that Merlin would leave him behind.
“Stay safe.” Arthur didn’t know what he would do if something is to happen to Merlin, but he knows that Merlin would do his best.
“You too, come back to me.” Merlin’s eyes flashed gold for a brief second before he pulled Arthur in for a kiss.
“I will see you tonight.” With those words, Merlin disappeared to find the sorcerers that he had trained.
They will see this trough and when all is done, they will rebuild there lives like it should be.

I’ve been in this community for a while, less as an active role and more as a passive. Been lurking around DOA and Instagram and some other places and I feel like the community is too split appart and that there’s this “Them” mindset towards younger or newer people in the hobby and this “Us” for older, more experienced people in the hobby. It’s not too rare to have newer people flock together because none of the older Hobbyists bat an eye at them making a thread on DOA asking about something or just generally wanting to create a little discourse. It’s also quite silencing how DOA has bans of things such as Mirrodoll discussions, restrictions on what type of BJD is allowed and what not, just because they are missing an elbow joint or a split torso and ofcourse: DOA has been dying. We can’t point at the high number of members and go “Ha! See it’s not dead!” if daily there’s maybe a few hundret people online spread out trough the day, with the most active being the doll creators and people who generally want to talk about their projects.
Instagram is too vast, most BJD hobbyists there are not always on it and likeley use it more as a sharing platform. Especially if they are older and have a more complex life style with children or just a bussy scedule. It’s easy to feel like people might not talk to you anymore because you leave them on read or just use Instagram to browse the BJD ta and nothing more complex. Many younger hobbyists there also often feel looked over because they not always have an exclusiveley doll related Instagram but also share things of their lives on there. Not every other Hobbyist wants to see that an is often only for dolls there.
I also feel like information about BJD’s that should be more out there is not as readily avalable or renewed. It doesn’t help at all to be told to google before you ask somewhere if all the blogs and journals or anything are from 2010 and are dated or if the links that could’ve helped maybe a few years back are broken. It’s not as easy as someone thinks with such a niche, and spread out hobby to find what you need. I tried to look for doll dyeing experiments, extensive mods, there are rareley any new blogs, Videos or anything about it wich is sad. This hobby is such a creative outlet, people are not sharing it. Possibly out of fear of being copied? I know enough people who don’t share their knwoledge because they belive it’s going to bring a rise of copy cats. That’s likeley not going to be the case, and even ig someone copies, it’s not going to look the exact way. Never will. Maybe it’s just the fear of getting confessed about. Some people have been teared on horribly, This blog can be avoided, but the effects of if the person doesn’t avoid it are verry true and should not be ignored. Don’t get me started on the stigma behind Males in the hobby and Women who collext more sexualized dolls.
I would love to create a new BJD discord to try and create not only a place where newbies, seniors, Male female or anything in between/ outside and what not can come together, but also where there’s room for open discussion, a market for dolls and an archive chat where things are put such as resin match comparrison, hybrid references and so on. Im aware there’s already a BJD discord, mine is not supposed to be some kind of war on it or anything, Mine is just going to be an alternative to the other. If there’s enough interest, I’d confess once more with a link to it and regularly drop in a confession to it if Mod is okay with that.

Luke 2:8-20 comments: the shepherds visit the infant Jesus
Luke 2:8 ¶ And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Some writers, quoting sources like the Greek philosopher Aristotle from hundreds of years before and the Jewish Babylonian Talmud much later, insist that shepherds held a very low social status in the Palestine of the first century. Perhaps, as common laborers they did but let us remember that the Jews would remember King David was a shepherd boy who likened God to a shepherd in my late father’s favorite Bible passage, Psalm, chapter 23. Keep in mind that the people in verse 18 wondered at the message the shepherds delivered and the text does not say they were shocked that the “lowly” shepherds were involved.
If you take this account at face value as I do you will notice that the appearance or angel of the Lord, who is also Christ, shows Himself as He is also lying in a feeding trough as a baby. An angel is a presence, an appearance of someone who is someplace else physically.
Isaiah 63:9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
Judges 2:1 ¶ And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
Acts 27:23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
And this verse, understanding that even typically connects two things that are the same or similar. First, for the definition of even.
Genesis 6:17a And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life...
And now this verse for my point…
Galatians 4:14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Notice how Christ, talking about Himself can show that He could be in two places at one time.
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
And even those who trust Him.
Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
This, of course, if the angel of the Lord here is not Gabriel who has previously been given the task of being the spiritual world’s version of John the Baptist, heralding the first arrival of Christ.
Christ is the long-awaited Messiah of the Jews, Saviour of mankind.
John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
Notice in verses 13 and 14 the angels are not singing as in Christian mythology. They are saying and what they are saying is not conditional as in peace to men of good will. They are saying good will toward men. This is not conditional. This is God’s peace being presented. See in the following the peace between Jew and Gentile and between both as the Church and God.
Ephesians 2:11 ¶ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 ¶ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar
off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Mankind is at war with God. He ignores or fights against God’s standard of righteousness in the moral aspects of the Law given to Moses and the admonitions of Christ, Paul, Peter, John, and James. Mankind is malicious, murderous, evil, and vile in his affections and his plans. He is constantly trying to change God’s plans. He tries to cheat death desiring to live as long as the men and women before the Flood of Noah in this sinful flesh, change and destroy the natural world trying to place his own twisted sense of order on it, and in some cases even deny that the physical condition of gender and age have any bearing on him or her. Mankind is constantly trying to control that which he can have no control over and claim to know that which his finite man cannot know.
But, God made peace with us. He did all the work and all we have to do is to receive His mercy, the mercy of a God dealing with a rebellious mob. There is no chance of defeating Him and we would not be able to exist for another moment where we able to do that as He is the author of every heartbeat, every cell function, and every breath. We are fools to fight our Creator.
So, He entered our space in physical flesh like ours and suffered the consequences of our rebellion, death and agony, and then rose again for our justification before Himself having preached to the spirits in Hell and taken Paradise to Heaven. As in a medieval conflict, the herald rides up and offers us peace, a peace we only need to receive, the parts of all parties having been satisfied by God. This is the only offer you’ll get, the only chance for your king’s mercy.

off, and to them that were nigh.
He tries to cheat death desiring to live as long as the men and women before the Flood of Noah in this sinful flesh, change and destroy the natural world trying to place his own twisted sense of order on it, and in come cases even deny that the physical condition of gender and age have any bearing on him or her.
