after a couple of hours of thinking.. i'm so angry at the new writers they got for s4 and ironically— it's not for madison's actual death. they kinda killed madison from the get go of her eight episode s4 arc. we went from a character who right out of the gate of s3 lost her 'husband' and for all intents and purposes, her moral compass, and proceeded to take down roadblock after roadblock regardless of the repercussions so long as the end goal remained the same: her and her kids got to stay at the ranch. travis died for them to get there and she wanted a sense of community so it felt like her family could still be a family with a sense of purpose. she either directly or indirectly kill.ed so many people to make that happen. "that ranch's got problems to spare but it's the closest thing to what i know. it's where i want to be." there wasn't anything that madison wasn't willing to do to keep it and despite everything she did try.. it still was inevitably lost in the end. it isn't surprising that when maddie laid eyes on that stadium she wanted to turn it into something else, with or without meeting al (although even i agree the decision to make it into something more than just for her, alicia, nick, luci and victor was influenced by al) it felt like she wanted to have some sort of redemption arc for all the shit she did. of course, she couldn't change it and she would do it again. something she, herself, vouches for at least a dozen times over the course of her 3.5 seasons. ......just for these new writers to decide oh yeah madison can build this community that she's been trying to forge since the beginning and oh yeah she's also just going to let the vultures take it all away from her and do nothing even remotely unhinged, brutal or meaningful to try and stop it. i'm upset maddie died but i'm more upset over the makeshift version of madison they tried to create??? dying in place of her kids makes sense. letting people so easily put her in the predicament to have to doesn't.
