An interesting trend I've observed in other Beatles fandom spaces (mainly reddit) is a resistance to the concept of John being attracted to men due to a general impression that John was fundamentally an open book and would not have shied away from mentioning/naming his own sexual orientation.
On the one hand, this feels like a naïve way of interacting with John's image, which he very consciously branded as Authentic™, and also demonstrates some ignorance regarding the hardships of coming out as a public figure, especially in the 1970s.
On the other hand, I do think it points to an interesting underlying contradiction within John: because, even if his image was crafted, I don't think he would have crafted it in that way if authenticity wasn't a core value to him – and, given he was almost definitely not straight, I wonder a lot how that would have played into his feelings on the topic.

#these aren't all of them just a random collection but just thinking about how much him not talking is such a strong part of his character#which is. well i think some of it is just that he's naturally quiet but some of it is definitely something that's grown in him over time#like when we first see him in digne he talks a Lot more than when we see him again in montreuil. which is probably bc he then has something#to hide but the way that him having something to hide ends up bleeding this sort of silence over into the rest of his life. hh.#there's more of these particularly there's a lot where it goes like. someone says something to him. he does something in response. they say#another thing. he does something in response. they say something else. he does something in response#<- so it's like a dialogue except actually they're the only ones talking#there's like whole sections of text that are just like this. whole conversations he's in that only really have one vocal participant#anyways. uox faucibus haesit coded of him for real :(#thoughts#les mis#also thinking abt how i think this is a big part of why he comes across differently in the musical. which is not the fault of the musical#bc it's just not possible to do in that medium i think . but it does chance things impression wise#Also this paralleled with all the places cosette is described as quiet/not talking when he first goes to get her

i believe that shipping tentoo/rose and recognizing that the way it happened was fucked on the doctor's end and traumatic on the end of rose herself can coexist. saying both of these things do not contradict each other.
i can say that the metacrisis is still the doctor and say that rose was right at first to say "he's not you," because of the context rose has in the moment and the work rose had put into finding the doctor that she conceptualized as the doctor.
i can also say that he tried to manipulate her into choosing the metacrisis because that is what he believed was best for her, even though i can also say she did choose to kiss the metacrisis in her own right.
and finally, i can say, that it was fucked up he left her in norway, solely because, bro, that's a long way away from where they need to go lol.
#i have a lot to say about the authority over her own narrative that is stripped from her here#at fault primarily due to rtd's shitty writing and wanting to wrap her character up in a way that he felt gave her a happy ending#but i think it's foolish to argue that this wasn't a fucked up way to have the end of this story start#do i think they're happily together and that she sees him as the doctor? yes. do i think they were in love right off the bat? no.#ALSO imagine what the metacrisis himself had to work through like ... but alas#they are not black and white but a secret third grey optoin#rose tyler#the doctor#timepetals#tenrose#metacrisis doctor#tentoorose#doctor who#also don't get me started on the big finish audios and how rose's narrative almost always centers on the doctor#when in those audios she explained that it wasn't just that it wasn't just him but she did not FIT in that world#she didn't feel like she belonged#and that's a large part of the feelings she was fighting the entire time

i will now be nice to myself and work on my fanfic and smaller drawings for a while. i will do eye posts sometimes still when i get a slow day and wanna do some peepers for 3 hours, i have collected many eyes [klinger, fr mulcahy, trapper, margaret, charles, hawkeye, bj. ive been busy stealing eyeballs to paint on. theyre all on one document its pretty funny]. i will be doing my best to force the cast into my style so i can do quick stuff.
i also WILL do more paintings of full shots again, but. fellas. ive done 3 back to back full paintings with no other digital art projects in between.

new post-canon life for Garak I can't stop thinking about: the people want the last surviving member of Damar's Rebellion™️ to have a government job, but in the end with a bit of finessing, it's as... head of the Parks Department. I want him to live Parks and Rec as Cardassian Ron Swanson. Him being all private and closed off at the office bc that's how he gets his kicks (or maybe he has a secret like Ron's jazzsona, like a bunch of orphans he secretly adopted, or writing poetry under a pen name, or secretly dating a human long distance-), but his coworkers lovingly bully him into being Part Of The Team. #byler#will byers#stranger things#every season besides s4-5 opens with non main characters#for el we got a flashback of the lab followed by her perspective in the scene directly after#and I think for Will we will see something similar#with us getting the flashback of him in castle byers in the UD#followed by him in the present in the scene after#but what exactly would warrant that memory being brought up in association with Will in the present?#mayhaps his connection to the mindflayer and the UD run deeper than we realize…#it’s likely not something he could just rid himself of in s2 and now he’s all good#he literally still feels a connection to everything he is feeling#that means he is still technically at risk of being the spy in some capacity#the massacre at Hawkins lab also was a guiding force for El discovering the ‘truth’ in s4#so it’s likely for Will this instance will operate in a way that re-contextualizes the events in the past up to now#like that time Will suggested they go to the hospital in s3 only for the flayed to be waiting for them#or how flayed Billy knew they were at the cabin…#all while Will was looking cryptic as hell in that scene watching over el#or the fact that he picked Billy in the first place the season after he focused on Will…#you know.. williams#I think the easiest way to introduce the castle Byers flashback is a dream honestly#specifically a dream within a dream#seeing that recent leak and Will looking like either he has a black or hasn’t slept in days#is giving very much ‘I am afraid to sleep bc I’m scared of what will happen’#I think dude is not exactly possessed in the sense that we already saw in s2 with like the particicles#but he’s still vulnerable#the door is still ajar…#no but fr this idea of opening a door in your mind was so blatant in st2 AND s3b of teen wolf#I think a big part of it will be guilting Will over the fact that Will has helped him before without Will telling the others#hence his weird vibe in s3… like he’s already successfully fucked with Will post s2 potentially with us being none the wiser aka here we go
