49. “Who hurt you?" Anxciet maybe??
I’ve never written Anxceit I hope this is okay lol.
~
It was weird, Deceit realized. Anxiety had been avoiding him all day. Normally, he sat on the couch, waiting for Deceit to ask if he felt like cuddling. If he wasn’t in the mood for that, he could usually be found in the kitchen, working on a backlog of social interactions that he never seemed to be on top of. Even though he was working, he’d always stand up and give Deceit a shy peck on the lips, before blushing and immediately returning to his work.
Virgil was in neither of those places, which meant either two things:
 he was in his room, or
 with one of the other Sides.
The second option was unlikely; Virgil didn’t much care for any of the others. He only tolerated Remus because Deceit treated Remus like his son, and he ignored the other Dark Sides. The first one was possible, but scared Deceit. Virgil stayed in his room when he was trying to hide from something. Normally, even if he was scared, he trusted Deceit to protect him from whatever it was. Since he hadn’t even attempted to contact him, that meant that either something very real or something very scary had frightened him, and Deceit would kill both options for his boyfriend to feel safe again.
The problem was, he couldn’t just intrude. Virgil deserved his privacy, just like anyone else. Maybe he just needed some time alone (though it was unlike him to not warn Deceit first). Deceit tried to forget about it, tried to not freak out.
That went out the window the next morning when Deceit realized that Anxiety was still in his room.
“VIRGIL!” Deceit slammed the door open, ignoring the startled hiss. “WHO HURT YOU?”
“Dee, wha--”
Deceit stormed in, flipping on the light switch. Anxiety hid under the covers, his laptop falling off his bed with a thump.
“I WILL MURDER THEM! GIVE ME A NAME AND THEY WILL FACE MY WRATH!”
A muffled voice came from the bed. “Dee, pl--”
“DON’T QUESTION MY WILLINGNESS TO DEFEND YOU! I WILL--”
“DEE!”
Deceit stopped yelling, his face red with the anger of a thousand suns. Virgil had rolled out of bed, standing to face him with a raised brow. Deceit faltered.
“Yes, dearest?”
Virgil ran a hand up his face, sighing. “Nobody hurt me. You need to chill,” he said, then muttered, “you sound like Princey.”
Wait. Princey? Did he mean. . . .
Creativity? Good Creativity? The Light Side?
Better not jump to conclusions. He should take it slowly, calmly.
“YOU’RE TALKING TO A LIGHT SIDE?!”
“Look, Thomas actually summoned me for some reason and they were there and--”
“YOU’RE TALKING TO ALL OF THE LIGHT SIDES?!”
“And this is why I didn’t tell you.” Virgil slipped into bed again, pulling the blankets over his mussed-up hair. “I knew you’d overreact.”
“Wha--I am not overreacting,” Deceit sputtered. “I just--I want you to be okay.” He sat beside Virgil on the bed, careful not to get too close in case Virgil didn’t want to be touched right now. “You didn’t leave your room. I wasn’t worried at all.”
Virgil groaned, then poked his head out. “I’m fine. They didn’t hurt me or anything, they’re actually way nicer than I expected. I mean, they don’t like me or whatever, but it’s fine.”
Deceit felt a surge of anger. How could anyone not like his boyfriend? He was going to give those Light Sides a piece of his mind. Virgil seemed to know his thoughts and laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey, it’s okay. I promise I didn’t mean to avoid you, I’ve just been really stressed about making a good impression and all that. I didn’t mean to shut you out.”
Deceit sighed. “It’s okay. You totally won’t do amazing.”
Virgil smiled, then cuddled up to his side. “Y’know, I could use some hugs. I haven’t seen you in forever.”
Deceit trailed a hand through his beloved’s hair, parting it before planting a kiss on his head. “Happy to oblige.”
~
It turned out a lot fluffier than I expected! Hope this was all right!

Note
What if Deceit was the only female side. Like naturally a girl. And she was the youngest side. Now imagine that Thomas does not know she is a girl and freaks out the first time he finds out because he accidently summons her while she is getting dressed. Like in the middle of putting a dress on and whatever side she is next to just throws something on her. Like Virgil just throws his hoodie on her or Remus yanks his cape off and wraps her in it while Roman stands in front of them.
(This is a concept I can definitely get behind. All the boys being protective of her would be so cute. I just had to write this. I had to. Sorry it took so long!)
Thomas sighed as he called Deceit up for his opinion. He’d heard a lot about this side, nothing much but maybe he’d be a good tiebreaker for the disagreement. So he called him up, only to be met with a girl midway dressed, jeans on and hair down as she seemed to have been looking in a mirror to do makeup, dancing around and laughing.
But she was only halfway dressed, no shirt, no bra. Immediately, she screeched and tried to cover herself, Remus yanking his cape off and covering her while Roman stepped in front of her, Virgil wrapping her in his hoodie and Deceit was turning red.
“Deceit?” Thomas asked softly.
“What!?” She snapped as she held Remus’ cape over her chest as she glared at him past Roman.
“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t know you were um...” He vaguely gestured, trying to convey her having been in the middle of getting dressed. “I wouldn’t have called you up if I knew you were getting dressed.” He admitted.
“Oh.” She seemed to relax as Remus handed her one of his tee shirts, that appeared way too big on her as she put it on.
“Are we good?” He asked as Roman left from in front of her.
“Well, you didn’t mean to so...I guess, yeah.” She agreed as she pushed the three boys away and stood by herself next to Patton.
“Also, you three remember I’m incredibly gay, right?” He told Virgil and the twins.
“Well, Dee screamed so I panicked!” Remus justified them, Roman and Virgil nodding along with his explanation.
Little did the other sides know that Deceit would get comfortable around Thomas to walk around in her jeans and a bra and not care at all about what he saw not even a month later and Thomas didn’t care as long as she was happy with her body.

Ep 203: The Beast of Gévaudan
“This animal is a monster whose father is a lion; it remains open what the mother is.”
– Dragoon Captain John-Baptiste Boulanger Duhamel, speculating on the origins of La Bête du Gévaudan in January of 1765.
Description:
In the years between 1764 and 1767, a real-life monster had brutally savaged the residents of the former province of Gévaudan in the highland region of south-central France. While the creature's first attack was reportedly unsuccessful in killing its intended victim, it did provide a horrific description of it. Some sort of massive, canine-like creature was stalking the villagers out in their fields of the Margeride mountains. And it would remain as elusive as its killing spree grew nightmarishly effective. In a three-year span, contemporary and modern estimates put the death toll anywhere from around 100 to 500 people, mostly women, and children. To add to the fear and suffering, these were no ordinary large animal predator attacks. Considering that only a small percentage of the victims were found partially consumed, with livestock untouched, the bodies of all were so shockingly mutilated that it could be surmised this abomination of nature was not killing out of hunger but for sport. As news of the relentless slaughter spread throughout France, tens of thousands from every walk of life, peasants, soldiers, and noblemen alike, joined in the hunt to stop this menace. Reports had even reached Versaille, where King Louis XV had placed a large bounty on its head. When survivors and eyewitnesses had given their statements, a puzzling picture of the beast emerged. Although many accounts described this creature as having some features like an abnormally large wolf, or wolf-dog hybrid, other details combined didn't fit any known animal. It was also described as the size of a calf or donkey, with reddish hair and a black stripe down its back, giant, razor-sharp teeth set in the gaping mouth of a pig-like head, a tail with a tuft on its end, and talons on its feet. This being was shot and wounded on several occasions at close range only to escape and kill again, adding a supernatural element to the legend. Many believed then as they do now that this animal must have been a canine mutation of some sort. However, without the descriptor of "werewolf" or "skinwalker" added to the story, saying it was just a vicious, big dog leaves an unsatisfactory conclusion. With no remains or taxonomy to define this murderous freak, the only name that could be given to it then is the one that remains today: The Beast of Gévaudan.

Reconciliation
Part 4 of my Dark Side Logan series.
I decided these two boys needed their own time to work things out, so no actual Cygnus this chapter. More just dealing with the fallout.

Virgil and Deceit have a talk
...
         He sighs, hanging his hat up on his coat rack, slinging off his capelet, carefully hanging it up so it won’t wrinkle, flopping down into his desk chair with an exhausted groan.
 It has been a long day.
 Patton came by, at Cygnus’s request, and they all just… talked. It was a bit strange, having a civil conversation with Patton. He could see Patton stopping himself from interrupting or saying something immediately dismissive just because his gut instinct was to go no, wrong, disagree. He could see Patton forcing himself to think past his first impulse when something was said that he disagreed with, thinking twice before he said anything.
 It was… odd. It felt odd, being listened to, like that, by Morality, of all people. But it went well. Remus was his usual boisterous self, which helped cover some of his own awkward unsureness, and, once again, Patton handled it extremely well. He blushed and winced at Remus’s lewd comments, sure, but he didn’t scold or berate him for them, instead trying to simply move on from them or, in some cases, digging deeper, understanding what Remus was actually trying to say but couldn’t find the words for.
 It was impressive, really, how hard Patton had tried. How much he listened. How careful he was with his words and his actions, trying to understand better their own roles, how he could help ease them into the group, help reintroduce them to Thomas, help them get a seat at the table.
 He was surprised, too, at Patton’s intentions. Because everything Patton had said was sincere, about wanting to help, wanting to understand, wanting to work together. But Cygnus had told him later, after Patton had left, what his intentions had been.
 Part of it was trying to earn back Cygnus’s trust, yes, and Cygnus leaving is what had sparked Patton’s interest at all. But that was more like a catalyst, than the true intent, which was simply that Patton was tired of people getting hurt.
 He was tired of hurting people, he was tired of leaving people out, he was tired of all this dark side, light side business, he was tired of fighting with people who wanted the same things he did, even if they chose vastly different methods, he just wanted everyone to be okay, and happy, and cared about, no matter what the end result looked like.
 He sighs again, running his hands through his hair. Only Patton would have intentions that pure, of course, and as naïve as that kind of thinking seems to him, he knows Patton is willing to give his all, his everything, to make right all the wrongs he had done them.
 “hey.” He practically jumps five feet into the air at the quiet voice, spinning the chair around so fast it gives him whiplash, hand pressed over his hammering heart.
 “Virgil, I was completely expecting you to be lurking in the shadows of my room, didn’t nearly scare me to death.” He deadpans, and Virgil snorts, a smile flicking across his face, and for a moment it’s like nothing has changed.
 Then Virgil looks down, fiddling with his hoodie, his new hoodie, his purple patched hoodie, and he leans back in his chair, steepling his hands in front of his face, inhaling deeply to keep himself from freaking out.
 “sorry. About, startling you. I just… you weren’t here so I decided to just wait for you to get back.” Virgil mumbles, and he tilts his head, unable to get a read on what exactly Virgil is doing here, with him, of all places.
 “Not that I’m not pleased to see you but… what exactly are you doing here?” Virgil flinches, though he didn’t mean it cruelly, and starts biting at his lip, nervous tension radiating off of him.
 “I… I know Patton talked to you guys. And… and he’s trying to work out some stuff with you. To… to help, get you accepted, and stuff.” He stiffens, hardening himself, because he knows that Virgil, of all people, will be against this, and he is ready for whatever threats or insults are hurled his way, he can keep it together now, even if it breaks him later. “so I… I thought we should… should talk, too. I… this is dumb, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be here, I should just go.” Virgil heaves out, and starts getting up, and for a moment he is too stunned to respond.
 “virgil. Wait. It’s not. Stupid, it’s not stupid, I mean. I… if you want to talk.” He’s lightly grabbed Virgil by the wrist, stopping him halfway to the door, and he quickly pulls back his hand, wincing at his own mistake. But Virgil just shuffles his feet, nodding once, before collapsing back on top of the bed, hood flipped up, knees pulled to his chest, bangs hiding his face as he takes a deep breath. Slowly, he scoots his chair a bit closer, only a foot between them.
“I… haven’t been fair, to you, or Remus. I… I know we fought, before I left, and we both said some stuff, but I… I know I didn’t mean even half of what I said. But I was too stubborn and stupid and… and prideful to apologize or admit I was wrong. So I bottled it all up, and I… I took it out on you, whenever you showed up, because I was ashamed of myself, for saying it all, at all, for… for just leaving you, after everything and I” Virgil took a shaking breath, trying to steady himself,  “Hated… hated myself for it, even as I was doing it, I hate myself for doing that to you, I hate myself for misrepresenting the two of you to Thomas, I hate myself for leaving, I hate that it took… took this, for me to have the fucking nerve to actually apologize!” Virgil exclaims, voice breaking.
 He inhales a sharp breath, realizing Virgil’s eyeshadow has darkened to nearly pitch black, is starting to run down his face, making his tears look black. Virgil buries his head against his knees, arms wrapped tight around them.
 “I’m sorry.” Virgil mumbles, shakily. “I wanted to fit in, with them, so I acted like I hated you, so they wouldn’t hate me, and I should have stood up for you guys, but I didn’t, I was afraid, and I don’t… I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” Tempest tongue slips out as Virgil curls tighter, hands tangling in his hair. “A decent person would have stood up for you. You raised me, you took care of me, and I just left, I just left and then didn’t give you any explanation for why I suddenly hated you, and it wasn’t fair and it isn’t and I don’t hate you, I never did, I just hate myself, because who does something like that?! What kind of terrible, shitty person just turns on everyone they love for someone else’s stupid approval? And just keeps doing it over and over and over again even though I hated myself for it, even though it made everything worse, and I wanted to stop, I want to scream, I want to shatter, because I’m just a monster that keeps on hurting you.”
 He can hear Virgil’s breathing from here, rasping and unsteady as he tugs at his hair. He doesn’t have to see Virgil’s face to know that dark, black lines will be creeping across it as his own anxiety worsens, slipping him back and back into the darkness of his own mind, back into paranoia. He can’t remember the last time he’s seen Virgil get this bad, it must have been when he was new and still trying to control himself, and it scares him, to feel how much loathing Virgil is holding for his own self.
 It scares him, because he’s felt it before, and he knows what it leads to.
 “Virgil. I need you to breathe, darling.” He keeps his voice steady, though his own alarm is just below the surface, trying to unpack everything that Virgil had said.
 “can’t, I can’t, I…” Virgil chokes out. Instantly, he is slipping out of his chair and onto the bed beside Virgil, slow and careful as he reaches up, disentangling Virgil’s hands from his hair before he can hurt himself, rubbing circles on his knuckles.
 “I’m going to do the counting thing, ok? Join in whenever you can.” He sees Virgil manage a nod, which is good, it means he can still hear him, as he starts to count. After several long fits and starts, his breathing seems to be evening out. When Virgil finally looks up at him, eyeshadow smudged all over his face, he looks nothing but tired and broken and devastated, in a way he feels all too familiar with.
 “Vee…” he doesn’t say anything more, he doesn’t know what else to say. Instead he opens his arms, and Virgil barely hesitates before he launches into them, burrowing into his shirt, gasping out broken sobs as he rubs his back and shushes him gently, assuring him over and over that everything is going to be ok, everything is going to be alright. He doesn’t know if it’s true, but he wants it to be.
 “I know you don’t always lie, I know that’s not all you do, I know you just want to protect Thomas, I know you always do what you think is best for him, I know you care about us, all of us, too, I know you always do your best for us, even when we don’t appreciate it, I know you’re more than just Deceit, so much more, and I’m… I’m sorry. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Dee…” Virgil trails off, curling tighter against him, and he can feel him trembling.
 “I’m sorry too, Virgil. I wasn’t kind, either. I taunted and belittled you because I was hurt and angry. We’re… we’re both just a couple of petty bitches, aren’t we?” He smiles just a bit as Virgil lets out a shaky bark of laughter against his chest, clinging to him tighter, which he hadn’t known was even possible.
 He lets it go on a moment longer before he pulls back, gently disentangling Virgil from around him, tilting his chin up so they are face to face, though Virgil avoids his eyes. Because Virgil is telling nothing but truths. About everything. Which is good, but a bit concerning, given some of his statements.
 “Vee. Look at me, darling.” It seems to take a monumental effort on Virgil’s part, but after a long moment, he lifts his eyes, just barely meeting his for the most fleeting of moments. “it’s ok to be not ok. But you need to reach out, you need to tell someone, so they can help before it goes too far. You need to take a break.”
 “I’m telling you. Does that count?” Virgil asks smally, arms wrapping around himself. He huffs and fumbles around on the bed, finding his weighted blanket after a moment and settles it around Virgil’s shoulders. Virgil immediately pulls it tighter around him, some of the tension leaking out of his shoulders at the weight, though he is still hunched over himself.
 “Barely, considering we haven’t really spoken in years.” He regrets his words as Virgil flinches against them, tugging the blanket closer.
 “that’s fair.” Virgil whispers, a sad smile settling across his face.
 “no it isn’t, Vee. I should have come to you, after you left, I should have tried to talk to you, but I let my own pride get in the way, too. We both should have tried a little harder.”
 “nothing’s ever been fair for you, Dee. I should have helped even out the odds.”
 “Look, we can sit here wallowing in past mistakes and misery all day, feeding off each other until we’re both just sad,” He pulls a face at that, making Virgil snort, “or we can do something fun and distracting, because neither of us is good at all this… guilt and negative emotion stuff.”
 “Dude, I’m literally anxiety, guilt and negative emotions are my whole shtick.” He folds his arms and looks sternly at Virgil.
 “Handling and processing them for Thomas is your ‘shtick’. Directing it all at yourself is unhealthy.” Virgil shrugs, looking away.
 “might have gone a bit downhill without you. You… you were always better at helping me manage than anyone else. I… haven’t really been managing, recently.”
 “You haven’t-“
 “no. Not… I’ve thought about it, a l-lot. Specially after Logan. I… I was too wrapped up in my own shit to be there for him, a-and I’m glad you guys are. I s-saw him the other day, for just a m-moment and he looked good. Like, b-better than I’ve ever seen him. and I kn-know that’s good, but…”
 “but it feels like it’s all on you. And you feel guilty for not being there.” Virgil nods, face crumpling as he closes his eyes against the wave of guilt and shame and loathing that washes over him.
 “I c-c-came so cl-close Dee. I h-had the kn-knife in m-m-my h-hand.” He doesn’t hesitate, scooping Virgil back onto his lap, into his arms.
 “Oh, darling, darling, darling. But you didn’t. I know how hard that is, to be so close and then not. I know how much it must hurt, inside, if you got so close to doing that. But I’m proud of you, I’m so proud, that you didn’t.”
 “’m s-sorry. I sh-shouldn’t be unloading all this o-on you. N-not after being so cr-cruel for so long, f-f-for no reason, y-you shouldn’t h-ave to touch me, y-you shouldn’t h-have to care…”
 “I don’t have to care, darling, but I choose to. I choose to care that you’re hurting yourself, that you’re tearing yourself apart for nothing, and I won’t sit by and just watch it happen until you do decide to tear yourself apart physically, as well. You left, because you thought it would be best for you, just like Ambition left, because he thought it would be best for him.” He’s running a hand through Virgil’s hair, Virgil biting his lip as he looks down at his lap.
 “W-was he right? W-was I? I d-don’t know anymore, Dee, I d-don’t know h-how to be wh-what anyone n-needs, I j-just get it the way, I j-just ruin things. I d-don’t know how to b-be ok, anymore.” Virgil mumbles the last sentence, and his heart softens a little more, because Virgil has slipped so far backwards. It seems Ambition isn’t the only one whose self care is being neglected over on the Light Side.
 “I know. And that’s ok, Virgil. You just go one day at a time, until, without you even realizing, the pain starts to hurt a little less, and a little less, until one day you wake up and it’s just an old ache where an open wound used to be. You know we will all help you get there, you must know Patton would drop everything in an instant if you told him how you feel, you must know Roman would do everything and anything to make you happy. You must know that Remus would still die for your smile, that I still love you, that Ambition just wants what’s best for everyone.” Virgil shakes his head, staring off into the distance for a moment.
 “That’s not the problem. I… I know that, I do, I just… I don’t deserve,” Virgil’s voice cracks, and he shivers, “I don’t deserve their help. I don’t deserve yours. I sure as hell don’t deserve anything from Ambition. I deserve to hurt, I deserve to do this alone, I deserve to let myself get torn apart.” He lets out a small sound of hurt, forcing Virgil to look at him, eyes wet with his own tears.
 “no. Virgil, no. Trying to go it alone is how we all ended up like this in the first place. It doesn’t matter if you believe you deserve it or not, you have my love, you have my support, and you have my help, even if I have to force feed it to you, you have my help. Don’t you dare for a second think otherwise. You’re still my baby, Vee. You always will be.” He states firmly, making sure Virgil sees the sincerity in his eyes, the truth in them, before he lets go, Virgil slumping against him with an exhausted sigh.
 “Is anything ever gonna be ok ever again?”
 “yes. Not soon, not even in a year, maybe, with the mess of things everyone’s made, but eventually, yes. Everything will be ok.” He murmurs, kissing the top of Virgil’s head, who snuggles closer to him, and he brings his arms around the exhausted side, hugging him close with all of his extra arms.
 “I missed this. I missed you. I-“
 “I know, darling. I did too.”
 “Dee? Are… are we ok? I… I want us to be ok.” He smiles, pressing another kiss to Virgil’s head at the smallness of his voice, feeling his own tears starting fall, his own voice stuck in his throat for a moment.
 “yes. I can promise you that, Virgil. We’re ok. And I’m going to make sure that you’re ok.” He replies, holding his baby just a little tighter, until he falls asleep.
 Things are a mess. They’re all messes, at the moment. But he knows he’s right, knows he has to trust his own words. Eventually, they will all be ok. It will take time, but he will help make sure of it. And he knows the others are ready to put in the work, too.
 “it’s going to be ok.”

“Why did you save me?” “That’s what family does.” with either Prinxiety or Moceit
Deceit knew that no one was coming for him. Why would they? The subconscious was a dangerous place; it was all too easy for a side to completely lose themselves if they didn’t have the fortitude to resist its pull.
And Deceit? He definitely had the fortitude.
The subconscious had taken the form of an icy tundra around him, and with every step, Deceit could feel his limbs growing more sluggish. It wasn’t good enough that he was going to fade away down here, no, the mind had to use his absolute worst nightmare to do it. His teeth chattered and he wrapped his arms around himself, though it didn’t do much to ward off the cold seeping into his bones.
He’d barely made it another fifty feet before he collapsed, the snow doing little to break his fall. He was tired, so so tired, and if he were honest with himself (heh), if he hadn’t found his way out of the subconscious by now, he was never going to.
As his consciousness drifted away, he couldn’t help but think that it would have been nice to see the others one last time. He knew they didn’t want to see them….but still. It would have been nice. And as his eyes slipped closed to the sound of the wind howling overhead, the last thing that Deceit was aware of was the cold seeping into his bones.
…
Deceit woke up, which was the first surprise to him. The second surprise was that he was warm, dressed in fuzzy pajamas and wrapped up in a pile of soft blankets on the couch in the commons. The third surprise was Patton walking into the room carrying a steaming mug of what smelled like hot chocolate. Deceit’s tongue flicked out of his mouth voluntarily, tasting the air. Yes, that was definitely hot chocolate.
“Patton?” he asked, his voice thick and sluggish, and Patton smiled at him as he set the mug down on the coffee table.
“Hey there, kiddo,” he said softly, brushing Deceit’s bangs out of his eyes. “You gave your ‘ol pops quite a scare there. How’re you feeling?”
“Cold,” Deceit said, not having the energy to hold back his reverse speak.
“I’m glad,” Patton said with a gentle smile. “I was really worried when I found you in the subconscious like that…I wasn’t sure if I’d made it to you in time. Luckily Logan knew some great things for helping with hypothermia. Which include drinking some of this,” he added, passing Deceit the mug.
For a few moments, he sipped the drink in silence, relishing the way the liquid warmed him from the inside out. After awhile though, he set the mug down and looked at Patton, taking a deep breath.
“Why didn’t you-” he stopped, and shook his head. No, he would not lie right now, this was important. He had to know, and he had to be sure Patton understood him.
“Why did you save me?” he asked, his words deliberate and slow.
Patton looked like his heart was about to break, and before Deceit knew what was happening, the moral side was pulling him into a hug.
“That’s what family does, Dee,” he whispered. “I know we don’t always…see eye to eye. But you’re a part of Thomas, and you will always be one of my kiddos. Okay?”
Deceit couldn’t speak. But the tears welling up in his eyes apparently told Patton all he needed to know, because he pulled Deceit closer and began carding his fingers through his hair, humming a soft melody as he did so.
And as his eyes slipped closed to the sound of Patton’s lullaby, the last thing that Deceit was aware of was the warmth seeping into his heart.

Don’t Go
Trigger warning: swearing, I think that’s it but if there’s anything else let me know
I hate you
I know
I love you
I know
Don't go
Deceit...
I know
I won’t actually be joining the Light Sides. But Thomas has to start listening to me more, and that can’t happen if I’m back here in the subconscious. I need to do this.
I hate you... I hate you so goddamn much but I also love you and I hate you so don't do it. I need you Virgil please...
You know what. Forget it. I know you. My God, how I hate you.
Deceit I will always-
Don't say that you love me cause what does it matter? You're still going to leave me! So leave me, whatever. It's not like I need you...
But I do; don't leave me. You know I'm not selfish but let’s just make it about me for once: me
me
me, me, me, me
I, I, I
I Need You.
I need you to stay, okay?
In my life, I haven't made that many promises. I don’t like to make things permanent, cause you never know what’s gonna happen. I’ve just made two: one to you and Remus and one to Thomas. To protect and love Thomas even if he doesn’t want me to. And you know me like no one has known me before. And so you know what I have to do. And no matter what you say... you want me to
How are you taking this so calmly? As I sit here discussing how I hate you? And the ways that you've hurt me? And how you're clearly about to if you walk out of the door and go to them!
Listen-
Don't touch me!
I hate you! Just leave us, whatever! We'll get on without you! I'm tough and resourceful and steady and sturdy and freaking the fuck out
Because I love you and I hate you, fuck you! You're making me crazy! You’re splitting me in half! So go!
... goodbye Deceit. I’ll see you later.
...
...
...
Wait, no!
In my life, I've always said I don't need anyone. I like our life and I love you and I swore that I'd love, without wanting or needing... But it's too late; I need you too. And now you’re gone.
You're the reason I think this life might not be meaningless. You're my North Star, my path to grace. You're my single best decision in a life of many awful ones. My one big yes, my one embrace. With you I never feel I'm out of place. So where’s my place when you’re gone?
...
(There are sides to everyone that they'd prefer not to know about.)
(What are you doing here?)
(Do not allow him or any of his friends to stick around that long ever again.)
(The others.)
(Because I was one of them.)
Was

God damn it, you did it! I knew you would do it! I knew you would leave us! You asshole, I hate you, how fucking could you?!
I hate you
I hate you!
I Hate That I Hate You!
I HATE THAT I LOVE YOU!
I LOVE YOU!
I...
loved you.
I loved you!
...
And I lost you. I hate you, you- god damn you- you asshole! You motherfucker!
Deceit? Are you okay? You’ve been sitting here in Virgil’s old room for a while
In my life, I haven't made that many promises. Just one to him, now to you too. So Remus, I promise that I will never let this world take me away from you
Dee... please stop crying. I’m still here.
I know. And I also know that whatever comes, whatever I must do, it's me and you.
It's me and you...
There’s only me and you.
Author’s note: So this is something I randomly got inspired to do when the song these lyrics are from came on my playlist. It’s called I Hate You from the musical If/Then. 10/10 would recommend checking out.

Snek Cuddles and Consequences
Ok, so I had an idea inspired by a post made by @dailysandersidesaudoodles (go check them out). So it just kind of developed into this... anyways, let's do this! There is am odd POV change just so you know. It changes from Roman's to Virgil's and goes back in time a little. I also may do a part two, depending on if anyone wants it.
Summary: Virgil and Deceit liked to cuddle before he left the Dark Sides and old habits die hard
Trigger warnings: Snake Deceit, sword, let me know if I should add anything
Pairings/Ships: platonic Anxceit (or romantic if you really want to)
Before Virgil had left the Dark Sides he and Deceit loved to cuddle. Although Deceit had often changed into his snake form when they did. Deceit was often too cold and Virgil was too hot because he refused to take off his hoodie, so it was a pretty good way to regulate their temperatures.
So, one day after Deceit had revealed himself to Thomas, he was sensing a lot of heat from something in the living room. He walked in expecting a heater on (that's how hot it was), but instead he found an overheating Virgil. He was sprawled out on the couch fanning himself and sweating too. His face was red as a tomato, but he still had his hoodie on. The Light Sides had all told him he needed to take off his hoodie, but every time he simply said he would never take it off.
"Virgil, you stubborn moron," Deceit muttered under his breath, walking to stand in front of him. He looked at Virgil as the anxious side noticed his presence.
"Oh, hey, Dee," Virgil said, in between his panting. Deceit didn't respond, but instead sat down beside Virgil and changed into his snake form. Now he was a 4 foot-long, yellow, black, and brown boa constrictor. Virgil looked at him confused for a moment, but then said as he lifted up his oversized jacket sleeve, "Come on."
Recognizing the invitation, the snake slithered onto Virgil's arm and continued until he was comfortably wrapped around Virgil's shirt and neck. Virgil sighed in relief as he felt the cold snake cooling him off. It wasn't as cold as he would've liked, but it was still better than before.
Virgil didn't realize how much he had missed this until he felt himself relax in the tight, but not uncomfortable, grip of Deceit. He also didn't realize how tired he was until he drifted to sleep, feeling safe enough to do so.
As he felt Virgil relax, Deceit stuck out his tongue in what Remus described as 'a blep'. There wasn't really a reason he did this, except when he was trying to figure out his surroundings. He subconsciously tightened his grip on Virgil, as Deceit felt he was protecting him like he had before.
Deceit felt Virgil relax more and figured he had fallen asleep in Deceit's embrace, which made Deceit feel proud since Virgil thought he was safe enough to go to sleep.
Eventually sleep also overcame Deceit, as Virgil's warmth crept into his cold body, and although his grip did not lessen, his head was hanging over Virgil's shoulder. They slept peacefully until the Light Sides came to check on him.
Roman was the first to walk into the room and seeing Virgil's head tipped back slightly, motioned to Patton and Logan, who were behind him, to be quiet. They continued in slowly and quietly, but when Roman got close enough to see a huge snake on him, he summoned his katana, with a shriek. Patton and Logan saw it as well. Patton joined Roman in his screaming, but Logan stood there in shock, his eyes wide.
Virgil heard their screams and shot off the couch with a jump and and stared at them with wide eyes. The snake moved too, although it seemed like Virgil didn't notice the snake on him. It was then that Roman realized it was a boa constrictor, and that it was wrapped around Virgil's chest and could easily wrap itself around his neck and choke him.
"What the HECK was that about?" Virgil shouted, still clearly startled. The snake moved again.
"Virgil, don't move," Roman said, trying to keep his voice calm, so Virgil wouldn't freak out.
"What? Wh- Wait. Why do you have your sword?" Virgil asked, pointing to his katana.
Patton and Logan were too scared and shocked to say anything, so Roman continued inching forward keeping his eyes locked with Virgil's but keeping the snake in his view, "Virgil, don't freak out. Just stay still. Don't move."
"Why would I freak out? The only reason I 'freaked out' was because you screamed."
Roman saw the snake's head move closer to Virgil's. He also saw the snake's tongue move out of its mouth and flick up and down, as if feeling Roman's nervousness. Roman was standing about 3 feet from Virgil when Virgil winced and muttered a small, "Ow."
Roman realized the snake had been tightening its grip with every step that Roman took so he stopped, fearing the snake would squeeze Virgil too tight.
Deceit was obviously uncomfortable being in this form around anyone else besides Remus and Virgil. Then Roman started to move forward with his sword in his hands. Dee started to tighten around Virgil defensively as if relying mostly on instincts. Eventually he got a little too tight so Virgil quietly said, "Ow." Roman stopped moving.
Deceit seemed to recognize this and loosened a bit, but not much.
Roman started moving again, but more slowly, and Deceit hissed in response. Roman jumped back and yelped. Logan and Patton shouted in surprise. Virgil understood why they all seemed so frightened. They had never seen Deceit in his snake form. They thought Deceit was going to hurt him.
"Guys, it's ok. I'm ok," Virgil said, although he didn't show that he realized that there was a boa constrictor around him.
Roman couldn't believe it. Virgil had a giant snake wrapped around his chest and he didn't even realize it. The snake had even hurt him. Roman was somewhat infuriated with him. How could he be so... so... oblivious!
Logan spoke up, finally finding his voice, "Virgil. Do you realize there is a... snake... on you? Please do not get upset at this information."
"Why would I- Oh! You guys haven't met... uh... Dolos! My... pet... snake..." Virgil trailed off, hoping Dee wouldn't be mad at Virgil for calling him a pet. If the others didn’t know about Deceit’s snake form, he was not going to tell them. Thankfully, he wasn't, since Virgil felt him loosen his grip a bit more, almost as if relieved.
The others stared at him in shock, disbelief, and surprise. Roman was the first to speak.
"Why the heck would you have a snake for a pet?! Do you know how dangerous that is?!"
Logan joined in, "Indeed, Virgil. This," he paused looking for the right word, "arrangement... is not safe." He emphasized the word 'arrangement' while motioning to the snake wrapped around his friend.
"Guys, it's fine. I've done this hundreds of times before."
Patton finally spoke up, "Uh... kiddo. I agree with Logan. This isn't safe. Maybe you should keep him in a cage or something, at all times."
Dee hissed at him for suggesting such an atrocious action. He looked up at Virgil as if pleading him to take his side, then back at Roman and the sword in his hands. Virgil seemed to understand as he said, "Roman, put the sword down. He won't hurt anybody. Look."
He lifted his chin a little and Deceit wrapped around his neck once like a scaly scarf, understanding the need to prove his harmlessness.
"Virgil! Don't do that!" Roman yelled, brandishing his sword. Dee hissed once more, at his movements. Roman instinctively took a step back. Logan was sharing concerned looks with Patton, who was biting his nails and almost crying.
"Fine! Fine! Chill out, guys." Instead he lifted his arm and looked at Dee. He responded by unwrapping his body from around Virge's neck and moved to his arm, although most of him was still around his chest. Virgil didn’t understand why they wouldn’t trust him. He told them the snake was harmless. Why couldn’t they believe him?
“What would it take to prove that he’s harmless?” Virgil asked.
“If he does whatever I tell him to do, I’ll believe he’s ‘harmless’,” Roman responded. Logan and Patton nodded.
“What do you have in mind? I won’t let you hurt him, in any way.”
“Virgil! It already hurt you! Just a couple of minutes ago!”
“Yeah! Because he thought you were threatening me!”
Roman sighed and Patton spoke up. “Maybe we should trust Virgil and... Dolos. I mean, if it was going to do anything, it would’ve done it already. Um... Virgil? How long have you been like... that?” Patton gestured to him.
“Oh. Um...” Virgil looked at the clock. He had been asleep for four hours. That was more sleep than he usually got at night. “About four and a half hours, give or take.”
Roman’s jaw dropped. Virgil could’ve died four hours ago? And he wasn’t there to protect him? How could he have been so stupid?! He had to protect Virgil from that ferocious fiend, no matter the cost.
“See? Virgil’s been fine for more than four hours,” Patton said, although a bit hesitantly. “And Virge said he’s done this a lot before.”
“As much as I hate to say this, I agree with Patton. We should trust Virgil and his decisions, even if they are not the smartest ones.”
“Fine,” Roman said, his sword vanishing into thin air. “But I’m keeping an eye on it.”
“I would expect nothing less,” Logan said. Virgil and Patton made noises of protests, but Logan continued, “I said I would trust Virgil, not his pet.”
Virgil looked down at Deceit and saw him take a more offensive stance. ‘Uh oh,’ Virgil thought. Now Deceit was angry. He didn’t mind Virgil calling him a pet, as long as it was for protection, but Logan... that was a big no.
“Guys, you might want to take a step back,” Virgil said, trying to put as much distance between them and the angry snake.
Logan took a step back as he asked, “Why?” They were all confused, but did what Virgil said. And just in time too. Deceit had been uncoiling from Virgil and was now lunging at Logan. Fortunately, Logan was out of reach. Unfortunately, Roman registered the attack and willed his sword into his hands and swung it at Deceit.
Deceit had just barely dodged the sword, when Virgil reached forward and grabbed him. He was heavy and it was hard but it he managed to lift him up completely and put him back on his shoulders.
“Dec- Dolos, no!” Virgil chastised him. “I’ll go take him to my room.”
Virgil ran upstairs before anyone could say anything else. He shut his bedroom door as Deceit slithered onto the floor. He shifted back to his human form, and sat on Virgil’s bed.
“Sorry, Virge. I just... I really do like people calling me a pet. It’s not fine with you. I don’t know you are just trying to protect me. Thanks, for that, by the way.”
“It’s fine... just, be more careful next time.”
“Sure thing, Virge. Does this mean that were somewhat friends?” Deceit said quietly.
“Yeah. Friends,” Virgil said giving him a soft smile.

Puzzle pieces ch 3 (out of 3)
Characters: Deciet, Remus, Patton, Roman, Logan, Virgil and Thomas (briefly mentioned)
Trigger Warnings: unsympathetic Roman, yelling, ripping heart out
Ship: demus
Author’s note: wow! Two fics so close?! Why not?! Thank you, everyone, for supporting the blog! I’ve gotten more confident in my original content ever since the blog started so many months ago. It’s crazy to believe how popular this had become. Now, enjoy the fic!
“Now the last room of Thomas’s home is his living room. It's like an entertainment room. But we also use this room as a location for our YouTube channel.” Logan said as he guided Princess to the living room. He froze. Roman, Virgil, and Thomas were in the room. They were recording for a short Thomas wanted to upload on a later date.
“Hey, Nerd! Padre! We are recording a lovely short!” Roman said happily. He turned and saw Princess. “Who’s this?” He asked.
“Virgil’s off feeling. Her presence was made known to Virgil for unknown reasons. She’s just a child so please be sensitive.”
“M’lady.” Roman said bowing to Princess.
Virgil smiles happily but wary. “Sup kid, I’m Virgil. That’s Princey aka Roman. He’s creativity. I’m anxiety.”
“I know you! I was taught everything about the light sides! I’m Princess! You can call me Princess or 626 or even both! I’m a…..dark…….side.” She said, saying the last sentence with caution.
Virgil blinks and chuckled. “Then I guess related then huh?” He joked, seeing that Princess was worried about reactions.
“More than you realize Virgil.” Logan said. Logan got a confused look from Virgil and before he could explain everything, Roman turned the living room into an interrogation room. He shone a light in her face. Poor Princess was so confused.
“So, why are you here?” Roman asked.
“Because….I…...wanted to…….explore?” She asked confused.
“I see……..maybe…….YOU’RE HERE TO INFILTRATE THE LIGHT SIDE!” Roman said accusingly. Princess jumps by the sudden loud voice and tears up. She had never been yelled at before and she hated it.
“You’re asking a 5-year-old if she’s a spy?” Logan asked. He was annoyed by Roman already.
“Yes.” Roman said proudly.
Princess sniffs. “I wanna go home.” She said sadly.
“Do you hear how ridiculous you sound Roman?!” Virgil asked. “You’re treating her like she’s a criminal! She’s a child!” Virgil kept defending her. As an ex dark side, he had a duty to her.
“Nobody expects a little girl to spy! It’s perfect! I bet she’s older than she presents herself!” Roman said, defending his actions.
“What?! Are you crazy?! Look at her! She’s in tears because you yelled at her! She! Is! A! KID!” Virgil said yelling at Roman. As the two kept arguing, it seemed harder and harder to inject. Logan tried to get to Princess but Roman wouldn’t let him do it.
As Princess was watching the two fight, she gets more and more terrified. She didn’t actually SEE a fight in person before but for her first time, she was having trouble staying calm. She was freaking out. She was in tears and had trouble breathing. Were they gonna beat each other? Will they hit her? The millions of possibilities of the fight ending ran through her mind but none of them seemed to calm her down. She just HAD to get away but didn’t know how. She covered her ears and shut her eyes. She tried her best to get rid of whatever upset her.
The lights went out, there were huge winds blowing all of sudden. The light sides were in a void of nothingness. Roman grabs the others and puts up the light source with his hand and a shield to protect them from the winds.
“What’s going on?!” Thomas asked.
“We’re under attack!” Roman said, trying to convince himself that he was doing something good.
“STOP ROMAN! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! MAYBE MINE TOO BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER! PRINCESS IS WHAT MATTERS!” Virgil said. Roman looks down in shame. Virgil was right. He was a butthole.
“Princess is scared. I can feel her fear. It’s overwhelming. We need to do SOMETHING to help her. And fast.” Virgil said.
The others nodded in agreement. They didn’t know how but they were going to help her. One way or another.
Princess sobs loudly as she tries to calm herself down. She tried the techniques her parents had taught her but that was harder than she thought. She didn’t know what else could work. She started to panic even more. She didn’t want to hurt the others. Then it came to her. Remus had once said, “Princess, if you are in a situation that you can not handle alone, it is perfectly ok to run away or call for your family. We’re going to come immediately. No matter the situation.”
“MoMmY! DaDdy!” She sobs out as her last effort before she lost herself in her anxiety. She gasps for air before going back to sobbing into the void.
Meanwhile, Deceit and Remus were waiting silently in the dark side for Princess’s return. Deceit was so ready to hug his little girl and kiss her all over. He just wanted his daughter back. He leaned into Remus as he waited. Then they heard it. The most gut wrenching sound they ever heard. Princess was in distress. Extreme distress. Deceit and Remus didn’t think twice to go after Princess. Once they got to the border, well…..there was no border. Just nothingness.
“Ooooohhhhhhhhhh! They are soooo dead once I get there!” Deceit said angrily. Remus nodded and followed deceit as they get closer to the others. The moment they saw the others, deceit decked Roman.
“What the hell?!” He asked as he was fuming in rage.
“Questions later. Action now!” Virgil said. “She’s too scared and overwhelmed! She needs help!”
Deceit and Remus nodded as they looked at each other as he read each other’s mind. They knew exactly how to calm her down. They do it all the time when she’s upset. They walked up to her and sat with her. “Well dee, someone is upset.”
“Thanks captain obvious.” Deceit said annoyed before he put her in his lap and started humming. Remus smiles as the winds slowed down to a stop and then pulled out his own heart out and gave it to Princess. The lights come back on and she stares at the heart before laughing.
“Silly daddy! That doesn’t help me!” She said.
Remus smiles and falls onto his side and sticks out his tongue out. Princess laughs and puts his heart back.
“Oh thank you, doctor Princess!” Remus exclaimed.
Princess giggles and yawns, snuggling into Deceit’s arms. Deceit smiles softly before standing up. “We’ll come back again later. I expect an explanation and an apology when we return. But right now, A nap is in order for Princess.” He looked at the others before the dark sides went back home.
Now all sides are ready for questioning

I'll Be Safe In Your Sound Till I Come Back Around
Word Count: 1,684
Warning(s): Manipulation, mind control, toxic relationship, blood, injuries, stab wounds.
Author's Note: Editing is for the weak. The title is taken from Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi.
Patton took a deep breath, fidgeting with the hem of his glove. He wouldn't take them off, not unless he absolutely had to. Most of the time Patton didn't even consider his powers an option. Not even Monsters deserved to feel themselves turn to dust. But he knew that, while he'd look for another option, for Dennis? He'd rip them off in a heartbeat. He never worried he'd need to, but this time he wasn't sure. He had a feeling something was going to happen, something was going to go wrong.
"Patton?"
Patton turned around at the sound of his boyfriend's voice.
"Hey," Patton said, his voice shaking.
"You can do this, Patton," Logan promised. His voice sounded so sure, so confident, that Patton couldn't help feeling it too. "I know what it's like to be loved by you, it is so warm and powerful, just like you. I know that Dennis misses that just as much as you do. You'll get him back."
Patton smiled and pulled Logan down so he could kiss him, slow and sweet with something more bitter... something like an apology. Patton pulled back and let his hand linger on Logan's face. He knew he had tears in his eyes, and he wasn't even trying to hide them. He wasn't ashamed to admit he was scared.
"I have to go now," Patton told him. He turned to look at the others and suddenly he had an armful of black cloth and purple hair clinging to him and Patton laughed wetly. "I'll be fine Virgil. Dee would never hurt me."
"Just...be careful," Virgil muttered.
"Always."
Roman approached next after Virgil had forced himself to pull away from Patton.
"I just hate that we can't go with you," Roman sighed, also pulling the shorter boy into a hug.
"I know," Patton agreed. "But we can't risk Dee reacting badly when he sees you guys."
Patton stepped back. He was wasting time, time he didn't have. He looked around the room again, eyes catching on the faces of the people he loves so so much and would do anything for and smiles again.
"I'll be back," Patton promised. He believed he would, but it was whether or not he'd come back the same that was the question. "I promise."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dennis didn't think he had ever felt the amount of hate and panic he was feeling at the moment. He stared through his own eyes with no control over his body and mind at Remus. He was a prisoner in his own mind with thoughts slamming into him that didn't belong to him, trying to convince him that they did. He just couldn't believe this was happening! He'd loved Remus, and he thought Remus loved him back but this…even he knew this wasn't love.
Dennis couldn't even console himself with the fact that Patton was coming to save him because Remus knew about that! Worse still, Remus had ordered Dennis to kill his brother once he'd arrived. No matter how he screamed and fought and pleaded no one heard him. All that happened was Dennis hearing his own voice agree flatly. He wanted to sob as Remus handed him his own black and yellow rapier, the weapon that had protected him for years, and Dennis watched his gloved hand wrap tightly around the handle.
What was he going to do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Patton had been worried finding Dennis and Remus would be difficult but he found out quickly that they were in the Eris cabin. He probably should have been able to figure that out himself but he was a little frazzled. Gods, he didn't even know what he was going to say. Beg? Plead? He'd tried all that before but it hadn't worked then. Why would it work now?
He paused in his tracks as the Eris cabin came into view and he saw...Remus and Dennis were standing outside of it, looking directly at him. They knew he was coming. How did they know he was coming? Patton ignored Remus and focused entirely on his brother but almost wished he hadn't. The look on his face wasn't just blank, it was empty. Not even guarded like Patton had seen plenty of times before. It wasn't even Dennis.
Patton's hand reached into his pocket and tightened around the small metal object there as Remus said something to Dennis and his little brother began to advance on him, rapier at the ready. Now that, that was just SICK. Remus was forcing Dennis to kill him? What was WRONG with him. Patton couldn't dwell on it because Dennis was only a few feet away. He switched the object into his left hand and grabbed the dagger Thomas had shoved into his hand as he left.
Dennis swung before Patton could even open his mouth and Patton just barely managed to dodge out of the way, the blade putting a small rip in his camp shirt. This wasn't good. Dennis was fast, much faster than Patton, and Patton wasn't a skilled fighter with a blade to begin with.
"Dennis listen to me," Patton begged, taking a step back for each step Dennis took forward. "I know you, alright? I know you think I don't, not anymore. And I know you hate me, that you think I betrayed you and abandoned you when you needed me most and you have every right to think that because I did."
Dennis charged forward and Patton ducked under his sword and rolled to the side so he had a long stretch of grass behind him.
"I'm sorry. I have never regretted anything more than I do that. I was wrong but I NEVER meant to hurt. I love you Dee-Dee, I could never hurt you."
Patton stopped in his tracks and tossed his dagger to the side. Dennis paused too, looking between Patton and the dagger in confusion, like he couldn't understand why Patton wasn't fighting back. But when he looked back into his eyes Patton saw something flicker there, something behind the blankness, behind the spell. Something that recognized him, something that was hopeful and afraid and fighting, and that gave Patton what he needed to push on.
"And I know you won't hurt me." Patton pulled out the object in his pocket and held it out for Dennis to see. It was the pin Dennis had given Patton when he'd comforted him what felt like forever ago. The two snakes caught Dennis's attention and Patton huffed out a laugh of relief. It was working. It was actually working!
"I know you still love me Dee. You have to remember this. You gave it to me when I was upset. You hugged me, and I knew that meant I still had a chance. And if I still do then you HAVE to come back to me Dee! I swear to you, I will never leave you again as long as you want me there. You're my little brother, I will always love you. So come back. I know you're stronger then this because you are stubborn and hate being told what to do and who to be so FIGHT IT!"
It felt like Gaia herself was holding her breath as Patton watched Dennis freeze mid stride and his rapier fall out of his hand. It rolled across the grass out of Patton's vision but he didn't turn to watch it. He could practically see the war within him, the spell versus Dennis. More than once Patton thought Dennis was losing. Then something amazing happened. Dennis moved and shook his head, looking down at his hands and flexing his fingers. Then he looked up and Patton let out a sound that was a cross between a laugh and a sob.
"Patton?" Dennis breathed. There was so much emotion behind just his name and Patton laughed in pure joy.
Dennis sprinted towards him and when they collided, Patton wrapped his arms around the son of Apate like he wasn't ever going to let go. Gods he'd missed his brother. But now he'd gotten him back. Dennis was free, free to be himself and free from Remus and they could finally stop him. Patton was so freaking happy.
Then he knew nothing but pain.
He felt a horrible burning sensation from his stomach and suddenly he couldn't breathe. It hurt so much that when he tried to scream all that came out was a strangled groan. Dennis pulled back and looked at him in confusion before he looked down and his eyes widened in horror.
"PATTON!" He screamed. Huh. That didn't sound like a good scream. He looked down to see the narrow bronze blade of Dennis's rapier jutitng out of his stomach, his orange shirt all ready stained with blood. Well that was probably why.
Patton felt the blade getting pulled back out of him and his entire vision flashed white from pain as he was finally able to scream. When he was back to himself he was on his knees and Dennis wasn't in front of him. He heard someone yelling in anger that he was pretty sure was Dee but he couldn't be sure. Everything sounded distant and muffled, like he had water in his ears. He tentatively pressed his hand against his stomach and it came back coated in blood. Everything hurt, so freaking much, his stomach and back felt like they were on fire. His mouth tasted like metal and when he coughed he saw blood splatter against the green grass. That wasn't good.
Dennis reentered his vision and grabbed his shoulders, shaking him a bit so he would look at him. He heard his name a few times and then Dennis screamed out to the side something about someone helping. Patton supposed he did probably need help. He fell forward and Dennis caught him, cradling Patton against him. He moved him so Patton's side was against him and his head was on his little brother's shoulder and Patton couldn't help thinking 'This is nice'.
"PATTON!" He heard Logan cry.
Then he closed his eyes.

Coffee and Concern
Hi, I wrote this in one sitting last night because the thought of Deceit freaking out about the whole ‘hitting Roman on the head with a morning star’ thing that Remus did. Technically inspiration from a text post that @coconut-cluster and @very-virgil made? I had the thought and then I saw the text post, so this was made. (I’m in a hurry, so I’ll add the taglist later!)
Trigger warnings: Deceit (sympathetic), Remus (appears briefly and asks some mild random questions), mention of a head injury and medication, please tell me if there’s anything else!
Word Count: 1520 (just like my eyesight before senior year of high school)
Deceit flipped the page of his book, enjoying the quiet that so rarely fell upon the darker side of the mindscape. He had sent Remus to Thomas almost an hour ago, and he was hoping he could finish the chapter of his book before the other side came back. He was about to turn to the next page, feeling almost giddy at how close he was to the end of the chapter, when he felt another presence enter the common room.
“Have you ever thought about snake butts?”
Deceit sighed and shut his book. “Remus, I see you’re back.”
The eccentrically dressed man popped up from behind the couch, arms spread wide.
“Ya caught me! So, snake butts?”
Deceit ignore the question as he stood, setting his book down and heading towards the kitchen. He grabbed a mug and started the coffee machine, and briefly debated putting something stronger in it before he answered.
“No, I can’t say that I have. How did your talk with Thomas go? Did you convince him to be more honest with himself?”
Remus leaned against the counter, propping his head on his fists and kicking one leg into the air. “Nah, Logan did that better than I could. I did knock Roman out of commission though. Unfortunately, he stood back up.”
Deceit, who had absentmindedly been nodding along, not entirely surprised at Logan’s success, froze. “Pardon?”
Remus shrugged. “He stood back up. Say, what if you put unground coffee beans into your coffee, wouldn’t that be an extra kick?”
“Remus, focus. What do you mean, ‘he stood back up?’ What did you do to Roman?”
“I hit him over the head with my morning star so I could get Thomas’s attention.” At Deceit’s horrified look, Remus did an over-exaggerated shrug. “What? He’s fine, he was just out for most of the video. I thought you were all about dramatic entrances.”
Deceit cursed, told Remus to stay put, and quickly sunk out of their side of the mindscape. Remus blinked in surprise, shrugged, chugged the rest of Deceit’s coffee, and proceeded to fling himself backwards over the edge of the couch to watch tv.
 When Deceit rose into the light side of the mindscape, it was to find Roman sitting on the couch with Virgil sitting on one side, holding his hand, Patton on the other securing an ice pack to the back of Roman’s head with some gauze, and Logan sitting on the coffee table across from them holding a first aid kit. They all looked up in surprise at Deceit’s entrance, but before they could say anything, he was already crossing the room and batting Patton’s hands away from Roman’s head, talking all the while.
“I can’t believe he did that. Actually, I can, he’s a mess and honestly needs more supervision, I should have come with him or given him stricter instructions, oh my goodness he hit you with a morning star, what the hell.” He quickly unwrapped the gauze and removed the ice pack, muttering “Sorry, sorry,” when Roman hissed in pain. He quickly hissed in sympathy when he saw the angry bump, but thankfully it didn’t look to bad. Deceit was still upset at how big it was, though.
“Why did it swell up so much? Why didn’t you guys do something earlier, or pause the video to see if he was alright?” Before the others could even open their mouths, he plowed ahead. “Right, right, check on Thomas first, you all had the video to shoot and I doubt Remus would’ve sat still long enough for you all to do something. How did he even get that morning star back, I locked it away before I let him go, I’m going to have to childproof the safe, aren’t I? Ugh, I wish he actually thought ahead of the next ten seconds for once in his life, I might ground him for this, unbelievable, the audacity to try to permanently hurt one of you.”
Deceit sighed roughly, a contrast to how gently he replaced the ice pack and rewrapped Roman’s head. Once done, his hands fluttered around Roman’s head, unsure of what to do. He didn’t see the slightly exasperated but fond expressions the others gave him, but he did see Roman reach up and grab his hands. Roman turned, nothing but amused fondness on his face.
“Dee, I’m perfectly alright. Just a slight headache and a bump, but I’ve already taken medicine and Lo made sure I wouldn’t get a concussion.” He squeezed Deceit’s hands, Deceit only faintly noticing that he had forgotten his gloves in his panic to check on the fanciful side. “I’m okay, truly.”
Deceit, though he couldn’t detect a lie, couldn’t help but glance behind him to Logan, who gave a slight nod. His shoulders relaxed, and he briefly squeezed back.
“I didn’t think you would care, Dee, seeing as you sent Remus up there.” Virgil said, but there was no heat behind his words, only a sort of smugness and a careful questioning tone that had the snake-like side tensing and ripping his hands from Roman’s to tuck them under his cape, turning the human side of his face away to hide the blush he could feel forming.
“Well—well, I just… I am a form of self-preservation after all, wouldn’t it make sense to check on one of the sides that helps with Thomas’s career? And, and to see of the other sides that he works with are doing their jobs correctly, too?”
It was a weak excuse and he knew it, and from the snorts and quiet giggle he heard, the others knew it too. The human side of his face burned from the force of his blush. Someone began to lightly bat at his cape, trying to pull his hands back out, and he turned to see Patton leaning over the side of the couch to reach for him.
“Don’t be embarrassed, kiddo! It’s okay to care!” Patton tugged on his arm again. “Come on, come sit down.”
“Patton is right.” Logan set the first aid kit down and moved to sit next to Patton, who quickly snagged his hand.
“Despite your more…” He waved a hand through the air, “eccentric actions in the videos, we are aware that you aren’t the bad guy you attempt to portray yourself as. As for Remus, he is certainly not the first side to get a tad bit too… excited during one of the videos.” Logan grimaced, but smiled when Patton leaned into his side.
“Still, I should have more control over him.” Deceit said, cautiously sitting in between Patton and Roman when Patton patted the seat cushion. Virgil leaned around Roman to tap Deceit’s leg, a frown on his face.
“Hey, no, don’t blame yourself for him. I just did that, and they all told me off about it. You do your best to protect Thomas and us the way you know how, just like I do, and just like the others do.”
“Right,” Roman chimed in, “Shakespeare knows that my brother is a handful, and if he doesn’t want to be controlled you can’t force that, nor can you blame yourself when he does something out of hand.”
Deceit hummed, leaning back into the couch. “I suppose you all are right, as much as it pains me to say it.” He grinned a bit when Virgil snorted.
He moved to stand, saying, “Well, I best be getting back and making sure he hasn’t wrecked the place. By the way, nice job today, Logan.”
He was stopped by a hand on either arm, and both Roman and Patton were giving him a hopeful look.
“No, come on, stay! We were about to start movie night; you should join us!” Patton said, giving him puppy dog eyes as Roman did the same. Virgil gave him a shaky but hopeful smile, and Logan, to his credit, looked mildly interested in what Deceit’s answer was going to be.
Deceit opened and closed his mouth a few times, unsure. “…Someone needs to keep an eye on Remus.”
“He’ll be fine for one or two movies, and you know that, Dee.” Virgil said, leaning against Roman, who had amped up the puppy dog eyes to maximum. Deceit wavered for a moment, before sighing. “Alright, one or two movies sounds fine.”
He sat back down, grinning as Patton cheered and pressed himself to his side, pulling Logan with him. Roman and Virgil did the same on his other side, and he felt himself relax as Logan pulled up Netflix on the tv. Maybe, he mused, he should come to this side more often, if it led to reassurances and moments like this.
 A few hours later, after he had extracted himself from the sleeping cuddle pile the light sides had made, he took in the casual chaos Remus had caused in his absence and made a mental note to lock Remus in his room before he left next time. Spotting five empty coffee mugs, he sighed and began to clean up. Or, at the very least, hide the coffee.

Don't know it I've posted this before but it's one I found in my old phone, apparently written before svs
~~~
Deceit rubbed his scales. They were burning slightly, as they did when he was newly shed. He sneered. Shedding. It was disgusting. Strings of snakeskin clung in clumps to the walls of his stone room making it grosser than it was already. At least he wasn’t nearly blind in one eye anymore from the cloudy layer of dead cells. His scales were tender and any form of friction felt like rubbing on sunburn. He spread ointment over his face and hips, soothing the burn slightly. He hated his scales. More than anything. They caused him problem after problem, but overall they were disgusting. They were hard and cold to the touch, and made him look just like the monster he made himself out to be. There was a knock at the door.
“Dee? Dinnertime kiddo!” Deceit sighed. Patton was kind to him, but he knew it was only out of his nature. And pity. Fear or pity was the only way he got any sort of care. He hated dinner, especially considering he only ate once weekly and every other time he was sat awkwardly with the others, trying to disappear. But Patton wanted him to be included, and no matter how evil nobody would dare hurt Patton’s feelings. He shoved himself out of bed and pulled the bun out of his hair, ruffling it up and combing it back. He pulled on his shirt and jacket and opened the door.
Patton grinned and grabbed his hand. “I made steak and potatoes, your favorite!” Deceit sighed.
“I already ate Monday.” This was a lie, of course, but he didn’t feel like eating. He’d lost his appetite.
"Aw... can’t you eat a little more? I’m sorry, I should have remembered...” Patton cast down his big blue puppy dog eyes. Deceit sighed.
"Seared?” Patton smiled.
“Course! I know what you like!” Deceit paused.
“Fine. I’ll eat.”
"Yaaaay!” Patton sunk out, probably to set the table. Deceit took a breath and sunk as well, appearing in the dining room. Logan was already there, his elbows on the table, reading an advanced physics textbook. VERY interesting. Virgil was at his seat with his head in his arms. He peered up at Deceit.
"Why is HE here again?” Patton gave Virgil a Dad Look.
“He comes twice a week, we agreed on that. He needs to be social.” Deceit hissed to himself. There was the pity.
"Why can’t he eat with the other Darks?”
"I eat with them on Mondays.” He lied like a liar. “Besides, I could ask you the same.” Virgil growled.
"Hey, be nice you two!” Patton set Deceit’s meal in front of him and looked at each of them sternly. “Logan, no reading at the table.” Logan groaned and shut his book, grabbing a napkin to stuff it in as a bookmark. He dropped it next to him.
“Oh! Deceit! When did you get here?” "Three years ago. You’ve been wrapped in that book for too long. Come back to us Logan, the mind has been a mess.” Deceit sawed off a piece of meat.
“Ha ha.” Logan shoveled a bite of potato into his mouth. Roman burst in.
"Hello to those I like and those I hate, you know who you are!” Roman had figured out a way to insult the others without Patton being able to yell at him. He sat and dug in, and all the sides began to talk about daily activities Deceit hadn’t taken any part in. He ate quietly, feeling the others eyes boring into him once in a while, judging. He growled.
"Thanks for the dinner Patton. I really do feel appreciated.” He lifted his plate. “But I think I’ll take this elsewhere.” Patton looked up from his food.
“What? No! Are the others being too mean? Stop being mean you guys!” He grabbed Deceits arm. Deceit yanked it away.
"Thanks. But no thanks.” He stalked away. He could hear Patton’s stern mumbling behind him and took solace in the idea of the others being scolded. But being pitied and protected only made him feel weaker. He made his way through the kitchen, headed to his room.
"Hey! Snake Boy!” He looked up. Two sides he’d never met we’re sat at a small table in the kitchen. He’d always wondered what that table was for. He raised a brow. He couldn’t for the life of him tell what type of side they were supposed to be. And why weren’t they at the dining room table?
"What?” He decided to indulge the side with the sunglasses which made oh so much sense to be wearing indoors at night.
"You’re the new one huh? What’s with the scales?” He swirled his coffee cup. “Remy, be nice.” The second spoke up. He straightened his bubblegum pink tie. “You’re Deceit, aren’t you?” Deceit blinked.
“Um... no...” The cardigan-clad side beamed.
“I KNEW it! Where you going?”
"Away. My room.” Deceit contemplated making a run for it.
"Um, no, you’re sitting with us!” He patted the chair next to him excitedly. Deceit raised a brow.
“Let it go Em, he doesn’t want to have to deal with you.” The side who he assumed was called Em huffed.
“Don’t be rude, I was offering, if he doesn’t want to-“
"Sure.” Deceit sat down. It felt odd sitting with people he didn’t know, but he was intrigued. And he had to prove that Remy didn’t already know him. Em squealed happily. "Fun!” He stuck out his hand. “I’m Emile, Emile Picani, and this is Remington!” "Remy, Em, it’s REMY.” Deceit chuckled.
“Deceit. Though you seem to know who I am already...?”
"Well duh, you’re the new dark side, you were in the last two episodes!” "Episodes...?” Deceit blinked. This Emile Picani must be insane.
"Don’t worry about it, I just want to get to know you!” Deceits heart skipped. Get to know him? But he had some questions first.
"Wait, first, who are you two? I’ve never seen you, are you Sides?”
"Oh, heavens no!” Emile giggled. “He’s sleep, and I’m an OC!”
"An OC...?”
"Yeah, were expecting more non-side extras at some point but for now it’s just us. At least, we’re the most accepted by the fandom.”
"What the ever loving f*ck are you talking about?”
"Oh!” Emile gasped. “You can censor yourself, that’s so neat!” He ignored the question.
“Sometimes in media a sharp beep can be more effective in conveying a swear than the swear itself, while still being deemed more appropriate.”
"Uh huh...” Deceit was lost. But he didn’t quite mind. The guy was charming, in a confusing sort of way.
“Why don’t you eat at the dining room table?”
"Well that’s for the sides.” Emile shrugged. Remy nodded. Deceit furrowed his brows.
"Do they not let you sit with them?”
"Oh, no no no, they’re perfectly kind to us. But usually they talk about Thomas’ problems, their jobs, things we really have no part in or fascination with.” Deceit nodded. “Now your turn to talk. What’s your story...?” Deceit picked at his fingernails.
“My story?”
"What’s your character? Your internal conflict? Why should I like Deceit Sanders? What does he add to the show? What are his quirks?” Deceit looked between the two not-sides. They stared at him in anticipation.
“Well... I’m the bad guy. I lie. I show up and ruin things.” Emile chuckled. "What’s so funny?!” Deceit glared at him.
"Oh, sorry, I’m not laughing at you. I’m laughing because you remind me of another certain dark side I used to talk with quite a lot.”
"...Virgil?” His heart sank. “You talked with Virgil?”
"Well someone likes killing the suspense.” Emile smiled. “Yeah, I talked with everyone’s favorite worry wart. He said a lot of the same things.”
"Really?”
"Um, have you even WATCHED Accepting Anxiety?”
"I have literally no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Okay... way to be honest.” Emile smiled. “But like Virgil, I’m gonna have to ask you to go a little deeper. Don’t tell me what you are to everyone else, tell me how YOU feel. YOUR story.” Deceit bit his lip. “There’s not much to tell...”
“I don’t mind.” Emile’s warm periwinkle eyes egged him on. His heart swelled in his chest. Nobody had ever shown such a deep interest in him. He sighed.
"Maybe... maybe I feel a little... gross. Sometimes. And being born a ‘dark side’...with this monster face... it feels easier to act how other people expect me to rather than trying to be anything else.” He looked up. Emile was staring, and Remy had stopped eating. He could see the edges of hot pink irises side eying him from behind his sunglasses. An awkward tension hung in the air.
“Kidding!” Deceit grinned far too wide. “I’m Deceit for f*cks sake, I’m a dark side, a villain made to be feared, not pitied! And I LOVE IT!” Emile’s expression didn’t change.
“Deceit. Calm down. I’m a therapist, I can tell when you’re lying.” Deceit’s grin faltered and faded. He sunk into his chair and put his head in his arms.
“I’m not ly-ying...” his voice hitched. He wasn’t about to cry in front of two people he just met.
“It’s okay. Talk it out. Breathe.” He felt Emile put a reassuring hand on his back. “This is common in a character arc. Denial followed by an explosion followed by an acceptance. It’s how these things go.”
"I’m not a character in one of your stupid shows...” Deceit shrugged Emile off him. “I’m a freak and I’ll always be a freak.”
“A common cliche.”
"I’m NOT CLICHE!!!” Deceit shot up and banged his fists on the table. Emile caught his arm.
"Remy, can you give us a moment?” Remy tossed his hair to the side.
“Go nuts girl, I’m done anyways.” He set his plate on the counter and sank out. Deceit watched him. They were alone.
“I know you’re not cliche. But this arc of a villain has common components. And always, ALWAYS, it works out in the end. Beauty and the Beast, Nick from Zootopia, I’ll leave it at that to spare you from a long long list.” Deceit huffed.
“This isn’t a cutesy animated Disney film.” "Sure it’s not. But it applies to your situation. And I think, despite what you say, you’ll turn out fine. Just use a little elbow grease. Break through the expectations of others and show them who you really are, be who you wanna be.” “It’s not that easy...” Deceit rubbed his scales. Picani took his chin and turned his head so they were looking into each other’s eyes.
"I know. Not much in life is. I’m not throwing some empty phrases at you like ‘be yourself’, ‘follow your dreams’, ‘believe in yourself’, now THOSE are cliche. I’m saying you have the ability to be who you feel is the real you. All you need to do is show it. It’ll be hard. I know it will. But keep at it and it can and will be okay.” Deceit blushed and looked away. “Everyone already hates me. How do I take that back...?”
"Apologize, show them you’re a good guy.”
"I don’t look or feel like a good guy... my scales-“ He freezes when Picani gently runs a finger down his scaled cheek.
“I like your scales. They’re fascinating. They’re pretty but they make you look badass, don’t worry about them, they’re great.” Deceit flushed bright yellow.
“I-i... really?”
"Really really! Everyone loves the villain, and a reformed villain retaining their quirks can be even more fun! But remember: Nobody likes a flat character. Show your colors, your conflict, drop the textbook villain act and don’t be afraid to get messy to show people the real you. Understand?” Deceit smiled slightly.
"I think I might.”
I was sitting in the shadow of the couch, my dark outfit lending me cover. I was stuck like this, and none of the others could see. Least of all, the side currently walking in. Roman was humming to himself, and I refused to come out. Unfortunately, he decided to fling himself onto the couch. I reached for the couch too late, and was tossed onto his shoulder. I froze, hoping he’d think I was some bug or something. He had an arm draped across his face, so I could get away clean if I was careful…
“ANXIETY! Did you conjure more of those ugly decorations to freak me out?” He yelled, reaching towards me. I scrambled away, making a leap just as his fingers brushed off his shirt. I made it back to the safety of the shadows. He huffed at my lack of answer and stood up to choose a movie. I took the chance to begin lowering myself to the floor. He was singing to himself as he flipped through them. Another set of footsteps started at the top of the stairs. I scrambled back up, wiggling into the crack. Not comfortable, but I didn’t exactly need to breathe. I recognized the eager footsteps as Patton’s and was relieved I was hidden.
“Another movie night? Should I get the others?” He asked, dropping blankets over the couch. There was a hum of approval from the creative side, and the steps retreated again. I poked my head out, seeing a blanket conveniently on the floor. I jumped into it, a soft thud the only thing indicating my presence. Princy was too busy picking a movie to notice. I ran under the couch as the quick patter of Patton and Logan’s precise footsteps came downstairs.
“I couldn’t find Virgil. He isn’t in his room, and there’s no sign of him” Pat said anxiously, and I felt a twinge of guilt. I wish I could be my normal size. I didn’t like disappointing the fatherly side.
“Ugh. DOOM AND GLOOM! You’re gonna miss out on Mulan! I picked it with you in mind” Roman called. I poked my head out, using a bit of my meager power to make my voice echo from somewhere else.
“I’ll be there in a minute. Just.. busy” The last word snapped back to my location as I ran out of power. I squealed and ducked back under the couch. The others accepted that as me doing something, so they started the movie. Logan was taking Patton upstairs after it finished when Princy got suspicious again.
“Where is he?” He mumbled, hurt.
“Oh, Princy… I’m sorry” I responded, not realizing he’d hear me. He dropped down on all fours, and reached a hand under the couch. I attempted to roll out of his reach, but his pinkie hooked on my hood. He automatically closed his hands and pulled me out. “Let me go!” I snarled, swinging around by one hand.
“Vir-gil?” His voice broke in confusion.
“Go away, I’ll be fine in the morning. I promise I won’t miss the next movie night” I snarled, crossing my arms. His eyes lit up at the subtle message and put me down on the table in the kitchen.
“What happened?” He asked.
“I don’t know, ok? I just.. Was normal than I wasn’t. Maybe Thomas did something? I have no idea”
“In that case, We’re both sleeping here tonight. A prince must protect his lov-lower class people!” He did his typical princy thing. I huffed, yet his hands were gentle as he scooped me up. He nestled me..almost carefully, in the palm of his hands. He made me promise to stay on the arm of the couch before running upstairs to find something to make it easy for me to sleep, He was trying hard to take into account that I may be normal sized by morning. Logan, being the observant idiot he is, came downstairs while I waited.
“Ah, Virgil. I was wondering where you got to. Please assure Patton you are ok in the morning” He continued passed me, adjusting his glasses after finishing speaking to me. I pulled my hood up, and shoved my hands into my pockets.
“Yea, whatever. Not like I was purposefully avoiding his company”
“I am aware, but it would still help you both. Sleep well” He went back upstairs, a glass of water in his hand. I was picking at the edge of my pants when Roman reappeared.
“Ta-da! A hammock! That way, you can sleep in anyway you’d like, but it is adapted to give away if too much weight is on it!” He showed me a bright hammock.
“Oh. Thanks, Princy. Roman. Thanks Roman” I blushed at the glowing smile he gave me. He lay down on the couch, putting the hammock in such a way that the table supported me, but I wouldn’t hurt myself falling on it. I climbed into it. He had forgotten about a blanket, so I just pulled my hoodie around me. I kept tossing and turning, unable to get to sleep. I finally gave up, and crawled to the couch. Roman was out cold, snoring quietly. I pushed one of his bangs out of his face, tucking it behind his ear with a smile. I put one hand on his shirt, focusing the little energy I had on changing it to his onesie. I toppled over as my vision swam. Princy had been shifting in his sleep, and his hand was underneath me at just the right time. I was crushed into his cheek, which I squirmed out of. I sighed and climbed onto his shoulder. I fell asleep listening to his heartbeat in its soothing, slow, steady way. . .
“Virg?” A voice woke me up. I groaned, rolling over. I felt the warm, squishy bed. I didn’t want to wake up. Even if I was floating. It did smell like Pattoncakes, though so maybe I’d get up. In five minutes. I was trying to go back to sleep when I remembered.
“Did it work?” I asked, before realizing what was going on. I groaned again, rolling to face Roman.
“Nope. How did you manage to get onto my shoulder?” He asked, setting me down. A finger poked my head thoughtfully.
“Logan, leave me alone. I’m not some experiment. I couldn’t sleep and your heartbeat is calming” I stood up, clenching my fists to keep myself from falling over again. I’d used far too much yesterday. Ro caught me as my body gave up. He offered me a small pancake, setting it next to me. He cupped his hands as he talked to the others. I started tearing off bites of the pancake, trying hard to focus on not passing out.
“We have a problem, Virgil is still small, and we have a video today. If I’m not mistaken, Thomas is setting up now” Logan stated. I shuddered at the thought of having to endure a video in my state.
“I’ll stay here to help him. You guys can handle this, we’ll be ok” Roman jumped in before anyone else could speak.
‘Or.. Deceit could take my place. That way, there’s still a balance. I can...I can help him” I pulled myself up against Roman’s fingers.
“No! Not happening” He pulled me to his chest, glancing around fearfully. I blinked away the dizziness.
“I agree. It would be horrible if I actually helped wouldn’t it?” The snake leaned against the counter. Patton wordlessly offered him a plate. He took it, and pulled a chair over.
“No. I’m not letting Virgil out of my sight if I don’t have to” He was stubbornly holding me away from my old friend.
“I’ll be in your sight. What do the rest of you say? Willing to let Dee help?” I glared at the prince, before sighing and sitting down at his concerned look. “Or not. Maybe it is best I sit this one out. Get some more sleep to get back to usual”
“Liarrr” The other side sang. I hissed at him through Ro’s fingers.
“We can handle this Virgil. Just get some rest!” Patton called, and I waved a hand in acknowledgment. The other sides sank out of sight, except Deceit and Roman.
“Dee, can… can you make sure my brother. My brother doesn’t show up? I don’t want Virgil getting hurt” Roman finally choked out. A quiet shift was all the warning I got before I was transferred to the gloved hands. I watched Roman leave too.
“Worried I’ll hurt you or take you back”
“A little, yea. Perks about being like this is that Princy will come and fight to get me back” I shrugged, leaning against his fingers. He sighed and brought me close to his chest. I hummed a thanks and shifted my weight to it. I dozed as he cleaned up the space, a quiet hissing of complaints whenever he thought I was asleep.
“You’re still here?” Roman asked a while later.
“What? Thought I’d go behind your back and hand him to your brother? Please, I don’t have that much of a death wish. Besides, I know… even if I’m still upset, he’s far too vulnerable like this”
“Thank you. You’re not so bad”
“I’m so honored” He handed me over, Roman’s warm hands soothing me more than Dee’s heartbeat had.
“Look at the Prince protecting the bad guy” I mumbled, mostly asleep.
“You’re not the bad guy. I love you too much to think that” was all I heard before I was fully asleep.
I woke to a bunch of fabric around me. I started freaking, trying to find a way out.
“Virg?” A sleepy voice came from somewhere above me. A hand entered, open for me to climb on if I wanted to. I grabbed onto it, scared. I was pulled out to see a very sleepy princy, wearing a reddish, white version of my hoodie. The Prince’s sash was across it. “Sorry, I thought this would be easier to carry you, and it’s familiar, sorta?”
“It’s..It’s ok. Just warn me next time. I thought.. I thought one of the others had me”
“I’d never let that happen. Here, want to sleep higher up?” He showed me an inner pocket, shaped like a hammock.
“Nah. I need something to eat”
“Oh, Pat left some leftovers. Hang on, they should be over here” He stood up, gently closing his hand briefly. He was digging in the fridge with his free hand when I got sleepy again. I felt him gently place me in the inner pocket, leaving the hoodie unzipped.
“Thanks Princy. You’re far too nice to me now”
“No, you’re just less snippy about it”
“Mhm. You just like me” His heartbeat sped up when he heard that. “...do you?”
“I uh.. I thought.. I thought you were just… playing hard to get…” He choked out.
“What?? I.. You like me?? Like, a boyfriend??”
“Yea, dark and spooky! I had a crush on you since the beginning! You were like, the darkness to my light, as sappy as that sounds”
“..oh. OH! Ima… Ima.. I dunno what ima do”
“Trust me? You seem to be getting color back, but it's still not affecting your size. I promise, no harm will come to you”
“Of course. You’re my knight in shining armor. Now be quiet and let me sleep”
As Cold As Stone: Part Two
Dante Ekan’s newest case is a twenty one year old murder. It’s witnesses have remained silent all this time. So Agent Ekans seeks to change that.
He pokes, he prods, he bluffs, he lies, and he digs too deep.
But maybe the witnesses were silent for a reason.
Virgil had entered his boss’ office with a face full confusion- one which had immediately turned to a frown upon noticing Dee’s presence.
“FBI wants to talk to you,” the owner of the restaurant stated as he left them alone in the room.
The waiter frowned and crossed his arms, “I thought it was clear that I don’t want to talk to you.”
Dee gave a slight shrug, “You did. But I’m persistent.”
“Look I remember nothing helpful from that day. And I don’t like to remember it alright?”
Don’t like? Dee made a mental note of his word choice. “I’m not forcing you to. Rather, I wanted to discuss the other witnesses with you.”
Virgil looked skeptical. “What do you mean?”
“What are your relationships and opinion on each of them? By them I mean Roman and Remus Prince, Pat-”
“I’m not stupid, I know who they are.”
“Then what are your relationships and opinions on each?”
Virgil paused considering him before he sighed and leaned back against the wall, “You're not going to leave me alone are you?”
“Not at all.”
“I don’t have a relationship with any of them. My parents freaked and moved us away. I haven’t seen any of them since... But you would’ve already known that.”
Dee gave a shrug as he sat against the desk, “Hearing it from your mouth is different than reading it in a file. And while you haven’t seen them, that doesn’t mean you haven’t communicated with them since.”
Virgil’s eyes narrowed slightly as his frown deepened. “It’s been years,” he said finally. “I tried to contact each of them once ... To contact someone else who would understand what gives me nightmares. But talking to them only made things worse. So I don't have any relationship with them.”
“What do you know about their relationship with each other?”
“I don’t. I never asked.”
“Do you know anything about them?”
“No.”
Dee gave a sigh, this one just thrives in being difficult didn’t he? “Fine. But may I at least ask what it was you meant when you said that you ‘don’t like’ to remember what happened?”
Virgil shrugged clearly confused by the question, “I wouldn’t like to remember. I thought I made that clear.”
“No, quite frankly I think it says something more along the lines of you know exactly what happened and yet you don’t like to think about it.”
The young man’s lips dipped into a frown as he spoke his rehearsed lie, “I don’t know how Thomas died.”
“Remus Prince seemed to know,” Dee lied easily watching the way Virgil’s gaze twitched. He had gotten something from Patton, perhaps he could gain something from Virgil as well. “But he was Unfortunately under the influence of drugs. I don’t know what’s true and what’s not. I need others to help me.”
“Is he the reason you’re suddenly digging into all this?” Virgil scoffed. “Because Remus got arrested for drugs again?”
So he didn’t contact any of them, but he clearly kept tabs on their lives.
Dee gave a noncommittal shrug, “Is there anything you can tell me?”
“Shouldn’t you be asking his twin then?”
“Roman has dismissed everything as a drugged induced haze. I believe there is some truth to it.”
Virgil ran a hand through his short purple hair as his eyes searched Dee’s face for signs of a lie, but Dee had always known how to look truthful. “I was three. I was the youngest. I-”
“Still there must be something-”
“How would you feel if your first cohesive memories were of a friend’s dead body? ”
Virgil didn’t shout as he spoke, the words still had as great an impact at their whisper. Dee was caught off guard, but not in the manner which he was sure Storm had intended.
No, he was the second person to explicitly mention Thomas’ body. Remus Prince had been the first. Roman Prince claimed to remember running home in fear, and the other two seemed to play the card of remembering nothing of the day at all.
Slowly the twenty one year old wall which the boys had built to shield themselves was crumbling. And it had only been two days.
“You should talk to Patton and Logan,” Virgil said after a short silence. “They’d have better memories than I would.”
“I tried,” Dee replied softly. “Logan was curt with me, as he needed to finish processing some DNA for a case. And Patton was too scared ... And the fact that he seems scared this many years later, makes me wonder if someone is watching him.”
“Is there a question there?”
“ Is someone watching you Virgil?”
“No.”
“Somehow I don’t believe that.”
“Then don’t.”
“Fine. I’ll head out,” Dee declared moving to leave. “But answer me one last thing, who or what is Mister Sir? It sounds ridiculous but it managed to bother Patton the moment the words slipped from his mouth.”
“Ask him,” Virgil’s face didn’t change, his fingers didn’t twitch, his body didn’t tremble. But considering he had been moving and shifting this entire time- it said all Dee needed to know.
Dee nodded, “I gave your boss my card. Call me if need be.”
~~~~
No contact but kept tabs.
Persistently being watched.
Mister Sir?
The body.
Dee underlined each of the headings of his notes as he twirled his pen between his fingers in thought. If all the evidence of the case had come from the body in the first place, perhaps there was a greater story to be told about it. Especially if the witnesses were to be asked about it. At this point he saw no point in attempting to bother any of the witnesses further- except perhaps Remus Prince.
The witnesses who had volunteered to draw out the body for Dee.
But how to speak with him while avoiding the protective brother?
Dee sat a few houses down from the house for hours until Roman finally left. When he did so, Dee hurried to the door and rang the bell.
It took four tries of ringing it before Remus answered the door.
The man opened the door, rubbing the sleep from his eye and gave a yawn.
Dee glanced at his watch, near three in the afternoon. “Sorry to wake you,” he started slowly. “I was hoping to speak to you again?”
“I don’t know anything,” he said simply.
“You said you remember his body though, right?”
Remus’ eyebrows knit as he gave a frown before he allowed Dee inside. He led the way past the living room where according to skewed cushions and haphazard blanket, he had slept there.
“Hold on,” he said continuing into the house. There was a clattering and a banging before he came back a beer in hand. He took a swig as he sat on the couch, “So, what did you want from me?”
“I have the crime scene photos,” Dee started handing the man the file. “Can you talk me through what you see?”
Remus shrugged, and flipped open the folder looking over the photos within it with a blank expression. “What exactly do you want me to say? His blood is red? His wounds look like maggots would enjoy them?”
Dee shrugged, “You seemed to want to say something before. I’m just giving you that opportunity.”
Remus’ eyes fell to the picture once more, his eyes on Thomas’ wide and empty ones. Before he closed the folder and held it out towards Dee.
Dee sighed and took it in his hand, but Remus didn’t let go.
“I just remember there was so much blood... And how red it was.”
Dee blinked surprised at the statement, but Remus said nothing more and let his hand fall. “Anything else mister agent? Roman’s gone so I had intended to get high so if you don’t mind leaving...”
Dee paused his eyebrows knitting together, “Did you just admit to-”
“Nope.”
The man left it there as he took a gulp from his bottle and seemed to be waiting to see what Dee would do about it. Dee meanwhile had been considering asking about the stupidly named “Mister Sir”, but he doubted Remus would give him anything more than he had. So finally he sighed,
“Let me know if you think of anything else.”
~~~~
Dee felt like an idiot when he noticed it.
He had been spending all day staring at photos of child’s body wondering what he was missing, and wondering why Remus’ comment about the blood had struck him with interest, until he noticed it.
Or well, the lack of it.
Thomas Sanders’ body had been attacked by some undetermined animal or animals either immediately before or after he was strangled. And if an animal had attacked him, the way the pictures had shown- then where was the blood?
In every single one of the pictures there was blood, yes. But not enough. Nowhere near enough. Blood should be covering the entire area with Thomas’ injuries.
In other words, Thomas Sanders wasn’t killed where his body was found.
And if that was true, then it was confirmed Remus knew more than he let on.
“The body was moved,” The old detective recalled. “We followed a blood trail back a long ways to find where it actually happened. Found a bit of the poor kid too. But that’s all in the old reports.”
Dee shook his head as he flipped through the papers he had, “Nothing I have mentions the body being moved.”
“I’m not sure what to tell you, Ekans,” the man shrugged. “It became an FBI case almost immediately, so your people should know where your files are.”
Dee bit back a retort, “I already called, no one ever touched the box according to our records.
“Of course not.”
“Just tell me, who do you think moved the body?”
“Those kids,” he answered easily. “I know all of em forgot everything- good thing they have- but my guess is they tried to bring Thomas with when they ran away.”
“That would mean they witnessed the entire thing as opposed to running as soon as Thomas was in danger. That would mean the killer chose to let them live. I...” Dee trailed off as things suddenly made sense in his mind. He hurriedly thanked the man and ran outside to his car.
The killer had allowed the boys to live. No wonder none of them had spoken of this “Mister Sir”, and no wonder even after all these years they still lived in fear.
Mister Sir was still watching them.
And given that all records of the moved body were gone, someone was probably watching him too.
~~~~
“Third times the charm,” was the greeting Remus gave when Dee stepped in the house.
“The body was moved,” Dee blurted. “And yet-”
“Why don’t you play in your room?” Roman asked loudly.
Dee blinked taking in the presence of Roman and his daughter standing further in the home, the little girl’s eyes watching him intently. “I wanna stay,” she complained.
“You need to do your letters for school right?” Roman asked her. “Why don’t you go get your homework out, and then I’ll help you?”
The little girl didn’t seem happy with the prospect but she left regardless and her father gave a sigh of relief, “Can you not talk about things like that?”
“It’s my job,” Dee said shortly refocusing on Remus. “The body was moved. And yet there’s no report on that fact. I need you to take me to where Thomas was killed, and to where his body was found... please.”
“I told you we don’t know anything,” Roman interrupted.
“Your brother seems to remember a great deal of blood, when there wasn’t much found with the body.”
“We were five. Any blood is a lot of blood.”
Dee looked back to Remus and looking in his eyes Dee could see the man wasn’t entirely present. “Look when you come down enough, I need you to take me there.”
“Remus is off to rehab soon,” Roman declared suddenly. “As soon as I can get him in.”
“Don’t be like that Ro,” Remus smiled at his brother. “I get to bond with my niecey when I’m here!”
“And that’s the problem.”
“Wow, you-”
“I know you’re scared of him,” Dee interrupted. “I have no clue who this Mister Sir is, but I promise that if you help me, I can help you both to stop living in fear.”
For a moment neither moved.
And then Remus was smiling a big stupid smile on his face while Roman was visibly shaking with fear.
“He’s trespassing,” Roman said finally.
“What?”
“Trespassing. I asked this drug addict to get off my property and he didn’t. So arrest him.”
Dee paused trying to follow the switch in conversation.
“Really Roman?” Remus asked. “You wanna get rid of little ol me that badly?”
“I’ve done nothing wrong,” Roman replied his voice overly calm as he tried to convince himself. “Arrest him.”
Dee looked bewteeen the two for a moment before he gave a sigh, “You can go with or without cuffs.”
The other man shrugged and held out his wrists, “Make em tight and kinky.”
Dee shook his head as he walked his now prisoner outside to the sound of chirping birds which seemed to mock him. He got Remus in the back of his car and started it before he spoke.
“Are we going to the station or where the crime scene was?”
“I don’t remember a thing mister policeman.”
Dee sighed. “Station it is.”

This really is the worst ending
TW: Unsympathetic Patton, multiple major character deaths, blood, Sayori like scene, string imagery, gore, depression, brainwashing, emotional manipulation, sympathetic Remus, sympathetic Deceit, murder, strangulation, eating disorder(kinda), stabbing, gaslighting
I know there’s a lot of triggers, please tell me if I missed anything
There were only a few people that knew the truth about Patton.
Dee and Rachel both knew because of what he had done to the two of them.  They knew because of how he had tortured them.  If Dee hadn’t realized that Rachel was there after she had rescued him, she might still be there.  Still getting tortured into the ‘perfect little daughter’.
Roman, Remus, and Andy all knew because of the strings.  The strings that Dee had as well.  The strings keeping them from doing anything that Patton didn’t want them too when he was around.
None of them knew why he hadn’t used the strings on Rachel but they still were all willing to protect her from anything that Patton might try to do to her.
But the thing was, besides the five of them no one else knew.  Rachel was too scared of what Patton might do, when they asked her about it, she said that he told her if she said anything she’d hurt the others.  With one of Rachel’s traits being Protectiveness, there was no way she could let that happen.
It didn’t mean that the others didn’t know for lack of them trying.  But whenever they tried to say anything about what Patton had done, the strings tightened around their neck, making it impossible for them to say a word.
But they’d only tried to say something while Patton was with them.  So Dee approached Rachel with an idea.  What if they tried to say something when Patton wasn’t there.  He knew Thomas and the others wouldn’t believe them if it was only him but maybe if Rachel said something as well they would believe him.
Rachel was obviously hesitant. She remembered what Patton had told her.  Rachel had gotten really close to all of them after they saved her.  Dee hadn’t failed to notice that she had gotten especially close to Roman.  Not in a romantic way, as they were both aro, Ray actually being aroace, but as close as they could get with not dating.  He knew she was worried about what Patton might do to them.
But eventually, Rachel came around.  She knew it was the only way that they would believe the truth.  Rachel only agreed to it on the case that the others wouldn’t get involved.  That way if anyone got blamed it would be her and Dee.  No one else would get blamed.  At least that’s what Ray thought would happen.
And so the beginning of the end started.
“Thomas please you have to believe us,” Dee hissed after trying, again and again, to convince him of what Patton was doing.
“I just don’t understand why Patton would do any of that.  And besides, it’s not like there’s any reason Patton would do any of that,” Thomas sighed.
Virgil and Logan, as the only other sides who hadn’t been hurt by Patton, looked just as suspicious. “Listen, Ray, it’s not that I don’t trust you,” Virgil started calmly, not wanting to hurt his sister, “But Patton’s always been so kind, why would he hurt you?  Why would he hurt Ro?  Why would he hurt any of you?”
Rachel sunk into herself a little as Virgil said this.  “That’s a good question,” she muttered under her breath, having stopped looking at the others once they started questioning why Patton would do it.
Dee had finally gotten annoyed at the others.  They clearly weren’t believing either of them.  Heck, Virgil wasn’t even believing his own sister.  “Fine don’t believe us, summon Roman,” he hissed at them.
Thomas glanced at both Virgil and Logan, clearly wondering if he should.  Both of them nodded, figuring if this was some trick or something, the two of them would be able to figure it out the truth.  “Go ahead Thomas,” Logan said.
Thomas nodded and summoned Roman.  None of them were ready for what they saw.
The first thing Rachel noticed was the strings.  The extremely familiar-looking bright blue strings that were currently tied around what seemed like every appendage and Roman’s neck.  Rachel didn’t even realize what had happened until she was finally able to drag her eyes from the string.
 She hadn’t noticed everyone had gone oddly quiet, especially considering how they had been talking earlier, but she didn’t realize exactly why.  Until she finally glanced up, past the strings.  Until she finally realized how exactly tight the string around Roman’s neck was.  Until she glanced up into Roman’s cold dead eyes and let out a blood-curdling scream so bad that Virgil had to come over to calm her down.
“T-this has got to be a joke right,” Thomas managed to stutter out.  “Roman’s not really-, the twins must be playing a trick on us or something.”
Thomas didn’t notice how horrified Dee looked, not able to turn away from the sight.  How Virgil was protecting his sister from the sight.  How Logan himself, the one who insists time and time again that he doesn’t have emotions, was crying.  Maybe if he had he would have realized before he summoned Remus.
But Thomas didn’t realize, so he summoned Remus.  And none of them could tell if Remus had been better off or worse off than his brother.  Remus popped up just like his brother and for a second everything looked fine.  Just for a second though.  Because less then a second later, Remus’s body fell over, showing all 23 knives sticking out of his back.  Not only had Remus literally been stabbed in the back, whoever had done it wanted to make sure he couldn’t come back.  Not like the others had been able to during the episode where he had messed with all of them.  Virgil quickly moved to cover his sister’s eyes but it was too late.
Rachel, who had stopped screaming but was finally started to calm down, started freaking out all over again.  She wasn’t screaming, but she was clearly working herself into a panic attack.  And nothing Virgil did could calm her down in the slightest.  At this rate, she might pass out from the panic.  If only that were the last thing to happen.
Virgil felt a side rush in quickly and glanced up to see Andy.  They were glancing around desperately, almost like they weird trying to get away from someone.  Before Virgil could even ask a question, He noticed them freeze and saw as a knife was stabbed through their heart.  Revealing a grinning Patton behind them.
The second Dee noticed Patton, he tried to sink out, to get away from him.  That wasn’t lost on anyone, including Thomas.  Who was completely lost on what was going on.  Especially now that he saw Patton kill someone.  “Pat,” he asked, confused. “What’s going on?”
“Just give me a second kiddo,” Patton said, in that sickeningly sweet voice that caused Rachel to start shaking in Virgil’s arms.  “I’m just dealing with some pests right now.”  As he said that the blue strings, one’s the looked eerily similar to the ones around Roman stopped Dee from sinking out.
This caused Rachel to start crying out.  “I’m sorry Patton,” she cried out, sobbing, “I’m sorry.  Please don’t hurt them.” Patton turned back to Rachel, and Virgil considering he was still holding her, and tutted.  “Oh Rayray, don’t you remember what I told you I would do if you ever said anything.  I’m just keeping my promise.  I wouldn’t have needed to do this if you hadn’t tattled on me.  After all, they were just delusions created in your pretty little head.”
Rachel sobbed as Patton turned back around to face Dee.  “Now as for you DeeDee, you’ve been telling some awful lies haven’t you?”
Dee struggled, trying to get out of the strings Patton had wrapped around him.  “Fuck you,” he managed to croak out.
Patton tutted again.  “You know if you had been nice, I might have given you a chance,” he said walking over and making Dee look at him.  The last thing Dee saw was Patton’s cruel smile. Before Patton yanked on his strings, easily killing Dee.
It was then that Virgil made a decision while Patton was still distracted.  He picked up Ray and handed her to Logan.  “Get her out of here,” he said, glancing back to make sure that Patton wasn’t paying attention.
“But what about you,” Logan asked him, getting a good hold on Ray.  She was so light.
“Someone has to make sure he can’t get to you.  And my magic is a lot stronger than yours Lolo,” Virgil said.  “Now go.”
Logan nodded and bolted.  Rachel would probably yell at him once she was coherent of her surroundings again but one thing was clear.  From the way Patton had reacted, he wasn’t planning on killing Rachel.  Whatever Patton was planning for her was something much worse.  And Logan wouldn’t let that happen to her.  But where could they hide from him?  It took Logan a second before he realized.  Micheal’s dimension.  Patton shouldn’t be able to get to them there.  Logan quickly headed for Roman’s room, hoping he would get there before Virgil gave out.
Logan quickly made it to Roman’s room and closed the door, hopefully giving them some more time before Patton could get to them.  Still holding Rachel, who clearly wasn’t aware of her surroundings, Logan approached the mirror, hoping he could get to Micheal.  Fortunately for him, he didn’t even need to do that.  Micheal rose up, maybe to check on Roman, when he noticed Logan.
“Hey Logan, I came out to check on Roman, do you happen to know where he is,” Micheal asked.
At the mention of Roman, Rachel sobbed loudly.  Logan glanced back at her worried.  “He’s dead.  Patton killed him.  Heck the only other person who is still possibly alive is Virgil.  We need somewhere to hide.  Something tells me after Virgil…” Logan trailed off, not wanting to think of what Patton might do.  “After that, I think he’s going to come after Rachel.  We need somewhere to hide.”
Micheal thought about it a second before nodding.  “There’s no telling what he’ll do.  But once we’re safe, you better tell me what happened.”
“Of course,” Logan said nodding. “Grab my hand,” Micheal said, at Logan’s questioning look, he sighed and quickly explained.  “To get there, either Roman or I has to touch the mirror.  It’s the only way to get in.”
After the explanation, Logan nodded, grabbing Micheal’s hand, while making sure he still had a good grip on Rachel.  She could not be left behind.  Micheal touched the mirror and the three were transported back to Micheal’s dimension.
Logan looked around and it looked almost the same as their world and yet something seemed different.  Almost like they were seeing it from a different angle.
“Patton shouldn’t be able to get in.  Like I said, only Roman and I can,” Micheal said.  “Now I believed you promised me an explanation.”
Logan gently put Rachel down.  Rachel had seemed to have gone numb, not reacting to anything.  Logan understood.  She had just lost everyone close to her.  And by the looks of it, she had lost them to her tormentor.
   “What exactly happened out there,” Micheal asked.  “You said that Roman died and Patton had killed him but something tells me there’s more to the story.”
“I don’t know everything, Rachel might but,” Logan trailed off, glancing over at Rachel, who hadn’t reacted at anything after he talked about Roman’s death. “I doubt she is in the right mindset to explain anything.”
Logan explained what had happened.  How Dee and Rachel had tried to tell them what Patton had done.  And how none of them had listened, believing it was just one of his lies that he had managed to get Rachel wrapped into it.  How Dee had told them to summon Roman and when they did, all they saw was Roman, hanging from strings that he clearly didn’t put there himself.  How they summoned Remus, thinking it might be a joke only to see him dead too.  How Patton killed everyone besides Virgil, Thomas, Rachel and himself, blaming everything on Rachel.
After Logan finished his story, Logan glanced up at Micheal. “I knew something was up with Patton, I didn’t realize it was this bad,” he sighed.  “But she should be fine as long as we’re able to keep Patton from Rachel.”
Just as Micheal said that they felt someone enter the dimension.  Logan stared up at the sky for a second in a ‘are you freaking kidding me’ look, before rushing over to Rachel.
Micheal and Logan moved to stand protectively in front of Rachel.  They could do nothing from stopping him from entering, the only thing they could do was protect her.  Which would have been so much easier if it hadn’t been for who Patton brought with him.
As Patton stepped in, he giggled a little.  “Well it seems they’re having a bit of a party aren’t they Virgey?”
Upon hearing the nickname, Rachel glanced up.  Was Virgil really okay?  Why hadn’t Patton hurt him?  She looked up and saw Virgil but something was wrong.  Virgil’s eyes weren’t blue.
“It definitely seems that way pop star,” Virgil said, and Rachel felt her heart sink in her chest.  Virgil hadn’t called Patton that in a while.  Adding that to Virgil’s blue eyes and Rachel was certain.  Patton had control of Virgil.
“V-virgil,” Rachel said quietly.  That was a mistake.  She immediately shrunk under the look that Virgil gave her.
“If you only you had kept your mouth shut Ray,” Virgil said cruelly, causing a sob to escape Rachel, “Then they wouldn’t all be dead.  This is all your fault.”
“The only person whose fault it is, is standing next to you,” Logan said.
“Pop star was only trying to teach Ray a lesson,” Virgil said without hesitating, causing Rachel to sob more.  He had turned her own brother against her.
“Now Lolo,” Patton said, pouting at him, “I don’t want to hurt you, I don’t want either of you.  Just give us Ray and we’ll be on our way.”
“And what exactly are you going to do to her,” Logan asked, glaring at Patton.
“Why I’m just making sure RayRay can be the best person she can be,” Patton said with an all too cheerful smile.  “Isn’t that right Princess.”
Rachel flinched but moved to get up.  At least if Patton had her, he wouldn’t hurt Lo or Micheal.  But before she could get up, Logan stopped her.
“We’re not letting you do anything to Rachel, Patton,” Logn said glaring at him before turning to Micheal.  “You take Virgil, I’ll take Patton.”  As he said this, Logan summoned his bow and pulled it apart.  Revealing two butterfly swords, which he used to lunge at Patton.
Micheal meanwhile summoned his scythe and moved to attack.
Patton and VIrgil summoned their weapons, a whip and a pair of twin daggers respectively, and moved to attack.
Rachel was frozen in fear, glancing between the two helping her, and the two fighting to take her.  She wanted to help them but that would put her closer to Patton, who if he got a grip on her would most certainly grab her.  Rachel found herself frozen in fear for what could happen.
Logan noticed and quickly called back to Rachel.  “Just stay there Rachel, we can take care of them.”  After getting a quick nod from Rachel, Logan turned back to the fight and immediately had to dodge a hit from Patton.
“You should know better than to have a conversation during a fight LoLo,” Patton said with a smile on his face.  A smile full of malice.
Logan only smirked as he fought.  “I was still able to avoid your attack wasn’t I?”
“You won’t be able to avoid me forever LoLo,” Patton said.
“I don’t have to avoid you forever, I just have to avoid you until you get tired.  You can’t keep going forever, and something tells me you want Rachel alive.  So all I have to do is protect her until you get tired,” Logan said.
Patton continued fighting but was clearly thinking.  Patton knew he was probably about equal in strength with Logan, but Logan was better with strategy.  So how exactly would he beat Logan?  His eyes flickered to Rachel.  Didn’t Logan just say he was going to protect RayRay?  Maybe that’s how he get to him.  Patton waited until Logan had just dodged an attack than moved to attack Rachel instead.  Poor RayRay was so scared she wouldn’t be able to move in time.  And LoLo probably wouldn’t be able to hit him in time to stop the attack, which left one choice.
Logan noticed the attack about to hit Rachel and without hesitating, ran over and pushed Rachel at the way, only to get hit himself.  He dropped his weapons as Patton walked over and picked them up, putting them back in the bow configuration.
“You know, being protective isn’t really your style LoLo, if you hadn’t moved to protect RayRay, we would still be fighting,” Patton said, “By being protective, you gave me the advantage.”
Logan looked up at Patton with a look of defiance on his face.  “You can’t control Virgil forever.  One day he will break free and before you know it, he'll be long gone with Ray.”
Patton only smiled as he pulled back on Logan’s bow and shot him through the head, more specifically where his brain would be.  Unfortunately for Rachel, she was in the splash zone.  She felt her body give out on her as she noticed the blood on her, dropping to the ground and just shaking.  Oh god.  Logan was dead.  His blood was all over her.
She was so distracted, so in her own head,that she didn’t even notice Patton approaching her.  At least not until he grabbed her wrist and started dragging her.  Even then she barely reacted, besides a look of fear in her eyes.  “Virgey, “ Patton called cheerfully, “I got RayRay.”
Micheal’s eyes widened as he tried lunged towards the two to attack Patton to get Ray free.  But Virgil stopped him, pushing him back.  “Coming pop star,” he called.
Micheal tried again but Patton pulled out his whip and used it to throw Micheal as far back as he could before leaving with Virgil and Rachel.  Patton paused for a second before pulling out what looked like a severed hand, something that Rachel later realized was Roman’s severed hand and pressed it to the mirror.  “Let’s hope this works,” he muttered before  trying something.
Rachel flinched as she heard Micheal scream.  She glanced in the mirror and noticed something weird.  It looked like the mirror was almost collapsing in on herself.  Even with the screams and the strange look of the mirror, Rachel didn’t realize what it meant until the mirror spit out two bodies.  Rachel couldn’t recognize either of them.  They were so torn up that she couldn’t tell who had been who.  Rachel felt herself crumple.  Everyone was dead.  Everyone she had ever cared about was gone.
“Good looks like it worked,” Patton said cheerfully before dragging Rachel to the room he had kept her before, knowing Virgil would follow.  Rachel didn’t even react.  She just stared at the dead bodies of Logan and Micheal as he dragged her away.
Patton hummed to himself as he finally got back to the room, chaining Rachel up so she wouldn’t try not to escape.  Not that she would escape anyways.  Everyone she cared about was either dead or under Patton’s control.  Wait but there was always Remy.  Maybe if she…
Before she could even finish the thought Patton hummed to himself.  “I bet you’re wondering what happened to Remy aren’t you Princess?”
Rachel immediately flinched upon the nickname but glanced up in confusion.
“Well I ran into them on the way to RoRo’s room,” Patton said calmly, “They somehow found out what I was planning to do.  I have no idea how unless you told them too.”
‘Dee must have told them’, Rachel realized, ‘That’s the only way that Remy would have found out.’
“They were trying to stop me from carrying out your punishment,” Patton pouted.
Rachel noticed Virgil glaring at her, causing her to avert her eyes from him.
“Of course I had to do something,” Patton sighed, before his eyes lit up, clearly getting an idea.  “Why don’t I show you what happened to them.”
Patton made a motion and Remy popped up, face down in front of Rachel.  Rachel glanced up at Patton only to see him smiling.  Every alarm bell in her head was going off.  “Rem,” she asked quietly, her voice shaking.
No response.
She shakily reached out for Remy,shaking him a little.  Upon doing that Remy flipped over and Rachel immediately puked.  His eyes.  Patton had gouged them out.  There was nothing left now but the empty sockets in Remy’s head.
“You know RayRay, this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t said anything,” Patton said, approaching Rachel after she finished puking and putting his hand under her chin to make her look at him.  “I only hurt them to teach you a lesson.”
“You shouldn’t have said anything Ray,” Virgil growled, “They all deserved to live more than you.”
Rachel flinched at her brother’s words.  He was right.  It was all her fault.  All her fault.  She felt her breath begin to pick up as her thoughts began racing through her head.
Patton noticed and smiled and stepped away.  “I think poor RayRay’s been through enough punishment for today,” he said, knowing she wouldn’t be able to focus enough to feel anything anyways.
Virgil looked like he was about to protest but with a look of protest, he grumbled and left with Patton as Rachel’s panic increased.  She shouldn’t have listened to Dee.  If she had just kept quiet.
Her panic kept building to the point where she couldn’t breathe until she heard.  “Geez Ray, I’m gone for a few hours and you’re already blaming yourself?”  SHe glanced up but all saw was a blur, she was still panicking too much.  “Okay Ray can you breathe with me,” the voice said and she nodded, calming down as she did so.  When she glanced up at the person again she saw…
“Dee?  But you died,” Rachel said in shock.
“I couldn’t let you be alone so I came back out of spite.  And apparently I wasn’t the only one with the idea,” he said softly.
“Deee, couldn’t you have let me reveal myself,” Roman said, appearing before his voice softened, “I couldn’t let Patton hurt you without any source of comfort.  That would have truly broken you.”
“And I wanted to be here to correct any fallacies Patton tried to convince you of.  As I’ve seen how easy it is to convince of things when you’re hurt,” Logan said, popping up next to Dee.  “And you don’t deserve to believe those things.”
“I’m just here cause it’s going to be boring without these jerks,” Micheal said.
“That’s not what you told me a few minutes ago,” Logan said with a smirk.
“You shut it Logic,” Micheal hissed.
Rachel felt someone else and turned to see Remy staring at his body.  “Well that sure is depressing.  I came here cause I figured it would be better and there’s my dead body,” Remy groaned.
“No wonder you were in the middle of a panic attack when I showed up,” Dee muttered.
“You know us dying isn’t your fault, right Ray,” Roman said, sitting next to her.  “Patton just used it as an excuse.  We were already crossing the line of what he wanted us to do.  You finally getting the courage to tell what had been done just gave Patton a reason.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that you’re all dead,” Rachel said, feeling herself cry.
And so the cycle began.  Rachel’s days spent with her getting hurt, both mentally and physically, by Patton and Virgil while the five ghosts glared at Patton and tried to break Virgil out from under his control.
They figured out pretty quickly that the only person who could see the five ghosts was Ray.  That didn’t keep Micheal and Remy from tormenting Patton as much as they could, always making sure it was something that Ray couldn’t have done from where she was so Patton couldn’t blame her for it.
Rachel’s nights were spent either passed out from exhaustion or with the ghosts trying to convince her that it wasn’t her fault.
But as time went on, she believed them less and less.  If it wasn’t for Patton making her eat, even telling her that “she wasn’t allowed to die,”  she would have wasted away already.
Rachel had lost everything that day.  Her support, her brother, her friends, her free will, her happiness.  She didn’t want to be there anymore, even believing the ghosts was her mind trying to hallucinate some support for her.
Rachel was truly broken.

Your pj au is so good! I’m curious, how did you decide on the different godly parents? Virgil as Hypnos is really interesting!
[Fanfiction this is based on]
Okay anon, the first thing you need to know for this is that i got my start at writing from the Percy Jackson fandom. Which means that i read a lot of fanfiction and then was like “…what if i could do this, but the way i want to???”
The second thing is that i adore the hell out of Ethan Nakmura.
Ergo while everyone was out there making OCs that were children of the big three, i was quietly researching the minor gods that are mentioned like once and never again.
Clovis showed up in TLH and its implied he sleeps all day, dreamwalks, and keeps to himself. You know who sounds like he’d like being alone all the time and can casually freak out about whether a dream is a demigod one or just a normal weird dream? Virgil.
Theres a line in like MoA I think where the Seven are going to find Nike, and Percy mentions that the Nike kids are always instigating competitions, which i have never once been able to get out of my head. You know whos just insecure and determined enough to want to continually prove himself to be better even if hes not? Roman.
(And twin? Brother?? To a Nike Kid??? Remus has got to be a son of Victoria. The Roman part of him would absolutely not let him rest until he overtakes the Greeks.)
Ill admit i was gonna make Dee a son of Janus, god of choices, transitions, and new beginings, but the more I thought of hin the more i was like “this has ethan vibes this has ethan vibes THIS HAS ETHAN VI–” so i caved made the poor boy a Greek in Rome. Lies are all about balancing the truth with the fabrication, and he went and played a lawyer in SvS. My hands were tied.
Logan was always a toss up between Athena and Hephaestus. Theyre both insanely smart, but for the plot i needed a roman based Logan and Minvera doesnt have roman children according to SoN. I would have done Bellona, but i couldnt pass up Logan with fire powers literally building himself friends because he doesnt understand other humans. So Vuclan it is.
Do not get me started on Patton. My God. I still dont know who hes the kid of (which is part of the reason why the story hasnt gone anywhere). Iris is an underrated goddess. But then again so is Comus, the god of Merrymaking, and Tyche, the goddess of luck, and Pasithea, goddess of relaxation. All of which have excellent points: they make people like him! Patton likes when people like him! He even likes them when they take advantage of him! The main thing i needed in the plot was for Virgil to see him as someone who was kind to him, but also hopelessly bad at protecting him (whether or not thats actually true), and for him to be a minor influence in Camp Half Blood because he, roman, and Logan embark on a “quest” withoht permission to do so and it needs to be at least a day before anyone notices theyre gone.
Character Thomas is a son of Poseidon because, im sorry, he gives strong Percy Vibes to me. Hes relaxed and casual and clever and he jokes even at the bad times. If the world were ending, id want thomas to be the one leading us to victory. Joan is the bestest of best friends that i could think of, and dont you dare tell me that Grover is not Percy’s best friend. I’ll fight. Also i love the idea of Joan and Thomas meeting in boarding school and immediately becoming ride-or-die best friends, okay. Talyn would probably be an excellent Hecate kid, but i like the idea of them and joan both being able to control plants. Idk why, dont ask. I chose Demeter for them because of the down-to-earth vibes they give off. And if Talyn was gonna kill someone i think they’d use poisons, and what better access to then then being able to grow your own.
This has been, a needlessly long and complex reasoning of my thoughts. Im totally down to hear others thoughts on these too though. Mostly i was bored with the “Virgil is a son if Hades” idea and built off that.
