Honestly with the Emilia camp (and the others to a lesser extent) thinking that by being away from Subaru forever hell be fine.
I kinda want Subaru to have a kind of bitch face moment where he just ignores all of them for a long time as they become even more desperate to speak to him
Oh Subaru is gonna have some very well-deserved Bitch moments in BTZ III. Not even the other characters are gonna blame him for it lmao

DIABOLIK LOVERS Para-Selene Vol.6 Sakamaki Subaru Animate Tokuten CD
Tumblr media
Original title: DIABOLIK LOVERS Para-Selene Vol. 6 逆巻スバル アニメイト 各巻購入特典ドラマCD
Source: Diabolik Lovers Para-Selene Vol. 6 Sakamaki Subaru Animate Tokuten CD
Audio: Here
Seiyuu: Takashi Kondou
Translator’s note: I don’t know if they are popular in other countries too but aquarium dates have always struck me as such a typical Japanese thing. I’ve seen it so often in anime/dramas/etc. but in real life, I’ve never really heard of two people going on a date to an aquarium. :p If anything, it’s mostly just parents with their children visiting those places. I loved all of Subaru’s little tsundere moments where he would grow jealous over the fish because they captured his S/O’s attention. xD His bolder attitude near the end of the CD wasn’t half bad either. <u<

The two of you are walking in public.
“Che...This fuckin’ sucks...The aquarium lures in visitors at night as well!? ...Do you really enjoy comin’ here with me?”
You nod, smiling.
“...! ...I see. Damn, guess you give me no other choice. I’ll keep you company then.”
Subaru suddenly comes to a halt.
“This pool attracted more people than I would have expected. What’s happenin’ over here?”
You explain.
"The Dolphin Night Show? Hmー”
You ask if he would like to watch.
“I don’t mind but are there any open seats left?”
You point.
“Hm? ...Ah, you’re right. Guess we can sit down there then.”
The two of you walk towards your seats.
*Splash*
“Oh. Seems like it started already.”
*Splash splash*
“Ah...Hm...”
*SPLASH*
“Haah...
...The fuck’s so interestin’ ‘bout this? It’s just a bunch of dolphins jumpin’ in the air and headbuttin’ some balls. ...Say? How much longer will this go on fo...Oh...Fuck. Look at her watchin’ in awe like a damn kid...”
*Splash splash*
You suddenly turn your head towards Subaru.
“...Eh? W-W-What!?”
You ask why he was looking.
“...W-Who says I was lookin’ at you!? Don’t be gettin’ the wrong idea, geez!”
The crowd cheers.
“M-More importantly, the dolphins are ‘bout to pull somethin’ again so shouldn’t you watch that?”
You turn your attention back to the show.
“...They call it a ‘big jump’ but is this shit really worth gettin’ so excited over?”
*SPLASH*
“...Woah! Amazin’...! So high...!”
The two of you get splashed with water in the process.
“...Ugh.”
*Clap clap clap*
“The water splashed all the way over here, huh...? ...O-Oi!? Are you alright!? ーー Actually, you got pretty soaked. Do you have anythin’ to wipe yourself down?”
You start rummaging through your bag.
*Rustle rustle*
“Aah...Then use that towel.”
You offer to wipe his hair as well.
“...Hah? Nah, I’m good.”
You insist.
“I don’t catch colds, so it’s fine. Instead you should worry ‘bout yourself, right? Your hair got wet as well so hurry up and wipe it.”
You act tough.
“Hell no it’s ‘fine’. ...Gimme. I’ll do it.”
You become hesitant.
“Oi! How am I supposed to wipe your hair when you back away like that? Come closer!”
Subaru scoots closer.
“Keep still, ‘kay?”
*Rustle rustle*
“...There we go. Guess that should do. ...Your clothes aren’t that wet at least. ...Oi. Why are you all tensed up? Also, your face’s red. D-Don’t tell me...You’ve got a fever!?”
You explain.
“...Hah? I’m too close? ...!! D-Don’t get all flustered over every single lil’ thing...!”
He moves away a little.
“Here, you can have your towel back. Also...Wear my jacket.”
Subaru throws his jacket your way.
*Thud*
“Stop complainin’ and just put it on. It didn’t get wet and...It should help you warm up a lil’ at least. I don’t want you...to catch a cold. (1)”
You thank him.
“No need to thank me, honestly. ...The show has ended so should we go to the next thing? There’s still other stuff you wanted to see, no?”
You nod before the two of you get up from your seats.
*TIMESKIP*
“...That bein’ said, the inside of an aquarium is darker than I expected. You better not trip, ‘kay? “
You tell him that won’t happen.
“Heh. I wonder? You’re a huge klutz, aren’t you? You’d definitely trip and fall while gettin’ distracted by the fish.”
You puff out your cheeks and protest.
“Heh. Let’s see ‘bout that. ...Let’s go.”
You suddenly stop walking.
“Hm? What’s wrong? ...Oh, jellyfish.”
You note that they are very beautiful.
“...Aah? What’s so pretty ‘bout these gelatinous blobs? They lit up, that’s all, right?”
You continue to look at them.
“...You like these guys?”
You suddenly start dragging Subaru towards the tank with jellyfish.
*Rustle*
“...Wah!? ...F-Fine! You want to go there, right!? Don’t pull me!”
You are totally excited about watching the jellyfish.
“Are they really that beautiful? They’re just floatin’, right? I don’t get the appeal at all...”
You continue to watch the jellyfish in awe.
“Haah...She’s totally enraptured by those damn jellyfish...I don’t get chicks...”
He continues to watch you in silence.
“...You’ve seen enough, right? Let’s go already.”
You want to watch the jellyfish just a little longer.
“Che...I’m goin’ ahead. I’ll leave you behind if you take too long!”
You try and chase after him but nearly trip in the process.
“...! Watch ouーー!”
Subaru catches you in his arms just in time.
*Thud*
“...Ugh. Haah...See, what did I tell you? You almost landed on the floor. You really are so clumsy.”
Your cheeks flush bright red.
“Wait. ...Hmm~? Look at those flushed cheeks...You’re basically tellin’ me I’m free to do what I want, right? In that case, I won’t hold back. I’ll suck you to my heart’s content, right here, right now.”
You protest.
“I won’t wait. If you don’t behave, I’m gonna rip apart your throat with my fangs.”
You immediately keep still.
“Hehe. Perfect. Just be a good girl, and I’ll make sure you enjoy it.”
Subaru nearly bites you but other people arrive.
“ーー Ugh. There’s visitors approachin’, huh? ...Fuck off.”
You frown.
“Oi, don’t get all worried over some other people.”
You shake your head.
“It’s not ‘impossible’. All you need to do is focus on me.”
You insist.
“Haah...Guess you leave me no other choice. If you’re that desperate, I guess I won’t suck you here.”
You sigh in relief.
“Why do you seem so relieved? I won’t suck you here, but you better don’t believe this is the end.”
*Rustle*
“If we can’t do it here, we can simply go somewhere a lil’ more private, right? In that case, we can both have some fun.”
Subaru grabs your hand.
“Let’s head home. We’ll continue where we left off once inside our room. ...I’ll give you my love until you fall apart.”
ーー THE END ーー
Translation notes
(1) Literally he says he would be troubled if she were to catch a cold, however, the expression ‘I don’t want you’ sounded more natural to me in English.

omg a kink writer who watches rezero????? i neeed more burpy subaru omg. ok so how about a bloated subaru whis been holding it in around emilia but then he just can't anymore? and hes embarassed but feels so much better? and maybe shes flustered and he thinks hes grossed her out but shes just into it
Spending his free time with Emilia was something Subaru always looked forward to. Though she still had relatively little idea what a date meant or even was, that didn’t stop him from asking her to accompany him on quite a few. As sappy as it was, he was amazed by how much she effortlessly lent him comfort and bliss on a regular basis. After witnessing so many potentially traumatic events over a relatively short span of time, experiencing solace at all felt like a god send. This, then, should have been one of the most relaxing days since arriving in Irlam Village.
Unfortunately, his stomach seemed determined to ensure that it wouldn’t be.
He knew he only had himself to blame, but he couldn’t help but hold a grudge against his belly for being so irritable, especially during such a crucial time. Still, this was undeniably his fault. Arranging a dinner date, knowing how quickly he gets bloated after eating, was not one of his brightest ideas.
Even as he had been brainstorming the idea, he acknowledged the possible consequences. But when considering the promising romantic setting a dinner date provided, he immediately disregarded his better judgement.
So, he had to face the result. Despite having only finished half of his meal, he placed his spoon aside, more focused on suppressing the air that kept climbing up his throat. With each burp successfully swallowed back, causing his chest to jump, he felt the air travel back into his stomach; he felt like a balloon, ready to pop.
“Are you okay?” Emilia, who was eating across from him, had noticed his atypical silence and apparent lack of appetite.
“Don’t worry, Emilia-tan! I’m fine, I’m fine!” Even as he said these words, he could tell they weren’t convincing her. He had used this easy going facade many times before, so it was practically transparent to her. This much was obvious. Then, was there anything he could do that would assuage her worries?
He glanced down at his food, figuring that continuing to eat would be the best option. He picked up a spoonful of the soup in front of him, holding it up as if to say see? He speedily finished off the soup, anxious to complete the meal before she could fret further.
He still wasn’t used to indulging in such stately suppers - with the perfect seasonings, portions, and side dishes, he felt a surge of ecstasy after eating each time. Now satiated, he sat back, sighing heavily. He allowed his eyes to slip closed momentarily, too sedated to resist resting his eyelids. Too calm to even catch the low, airy belch that slid past his lips.
His eyes shot open immediately. Had he really just done that? Judging by the flush that spread across Emilia’s cheeks as she avoided his gaze, it was fairly clear that, yes, he really had.
“Ah, sor- uuULP!” He promptly cupped a hand over his mouth, hiccupping into his palm. At this, Emilia’s face only seemed to burn brighter, and he realized, with a sinking feeling, that he probably appeared revolting to her by this point. His shoulders drooped at the mere thought, before he said, “Sorry, Emilia-tan. We can end the date here if you want!” Again, he attempted to feign cheeriness, but the resignation in his voice was prominent enough to be easily detected.
He got up from his seat, but paused as Emilia scrambled for a response. “No, I- you don’t have to g- I want to continue!” She seemed confident, now that she had found a feasible reply.
He would’ve thought that she was simply being nice had he not noticed her resolve. “You don’t find it gross that I…?” He neglected to finish the sentence, knowing that the implication was clear. Had she honestly not minded his burp?
Once grasping the question, she looked away once again, her blush returning. “It’s okay… I didn’t mind it…” He thought he heard her add “I liked it,” but he decided he must have been imagining it.
Relieved, he sat back down. Looking at the girl sitting across from him, he knew that, despite how hectic his life had become, he was fortunate to have met someone like her.

Bookshelf Briefs 12/21/19
Daytime Shooting Star, Vol. 3 | By Mika Yamamori | Viz Media – There’s less humor and more romantic drama in this volume, but that’s OK as the romantic drama seems to be slightly better. It helps that the teacher rejects the student, though I’m sure that’s not the end of it, and that scene manages to be the best in the volume. That said, Suzume is not the only one Shishio’s having issues with, and a lot of this book amounts to “sometimes you really do break up for the right reasons even if it doesn’t feel like it.” Honestly, the best relationship in the series so far may be Suzume and Yuyuka, who aren’t a romantic pairing but have the potential to be great friends provided they get past the love quadrangle. This is shaping up to be decent shoujo. – Sean Gaffney
Jujutsu Kaisen, Vol. 1 | By Gege Akutami | VIZ Media – Yuji Itadori is a member of his school’s Occult Research Club and when he finds a cursed object (a mummified finger that he eventually eats – ew!) he gets involved with a group of jujutsu sorcerers aiming to collect all the fragments of a powerful demon before they fall into the wrong hands. Spurred on by his dying grandfather’s words that he should help people, and by the realization that he’s the only person who can nullify the demon fragments before they cause more harm, Yuji joins up with their cause. This first volume was intriguing, if a bit gross at times, but Yuji feels really flat as a protagonist so far. I’ll keep reading for a bit in hopes that it all becomes more compelling. – Michelle Smith
Missions of Love, Vol. 19 | By Ema Toyama | Kodansha Comics – This has always been a fairly saucy manga for Nakayoshi, and it feels appropriate that the final volume has Yukina and Shigure, now a couple (if you’re surprised perhaps you should look at the cover), snowed in and Yukina being far too forward… at least till she’s taught that sex really is a step too far for someone still brand new to her feelings of loving someone else. Elsewhere, the manga is somewhat satisfying—I just don’t like Hisame, and even though the triangle with him and Mami is left unresolved it feels like he’s going to win, which doesn’t make me happy. But Yukina is cute, and we even get a callback to the glasses/social awkwardness thing. This was VERY up and down, but worth the ride. – Sean Gaffney
Monster and the Beast, Vol. 2 | By Renji | Yen Press – I enjoyed and was greatly intrigued by the first volume of Monster and the Beast, a somewhat unusual BL manga, so I’ve been looking forward to reading the series’ second volume. As the plot continues to develop, it’s revealed that Liam’s natural charm isn’t entirely natural. He puts it to honorable use in this volume, but it seems it’s gotten him into trouble more than once in the past. While Liam and Cavo travel together, Liam softens and opens up a bit towards his companion, making it clear that he actually does care for him and isn’t just taking advantage of the demon (something Liam would be completely capable of). As for Cavo, he becomes a little more daring in expressing his feelings and desires, although he still gets delightfully flustered. Monster and the Beast has its cute moments as well as some deadly serious ones. – Ash Brown
Our Fake Marriage, Vol. 2 | By Kiwi Tokina | Kodansha Comics (digital only) – Yae Sendo is living with her chidhood friend Takumi Natsume, now a famous architect, and posing as his wife to act as a buffer for all the chicks who want to bone him. Of course, he immediately starts putting the moves on her. Where are Yae’s family and friends to question this arrangement? Nonexistent. This premise was not the best to start with, but things take a downhill turn in volume two when Takumi tells her, “Resist if you want to. But I got no intention of stopping tonight.” By this point, she’s into it, but still.. this man basically said “I am fine with raping you” and it sends up no red flags! I assume readers were supposed to find story this sexy and/or romantic, given the implication that Yae was Takumi’s first love, but I find it icky and problematic. I shan’t be reading any more. – Michelle Smith
PENGUINDRUM, Vol. 1 | By Isuzu Shibata and ikunichawder | Seven Seas – Once again, I have not seen the anime this is based on, and I get the sense that a lot of the imagery probably works better when watched rather than read. Two brothers are dealing with a sister who’s dying, only to find her corpse possessed by the spirit of… something. Now they have to find a Penguindrum… and are not told what that is. And, on top of everything else, they run into a girl who’s very, very obsessed with her teacher. There are tidbits of a very interesting story here, and the possessed Himari can be quite funny (SURVIVAL! TACTIC!), but as with a lot of Ikuhara series that aren’t named Utena, I find it very difficult to get emotionally involved with it. – Sean Gaffney
Takane & Hana, Vol. 12 | By Yuki Shiwasu | Viz Media – I asked for more of Takane and Hana smirking at each other, and instead I get to what amounts to Takane losing his mind. He finally admits his feelings to Hana, who’s a bit poleaxed, and then proceeds to be an absolute ass for almost the entire rest of the book. He still has no idea how to properly interact with a girl he likes, and I hate to break it to him, but the solution to a relationship between a rich heir and an underage schoolgirl is not “well, whatever.” Hana spends much of the book simply exhausted, and I felt like that as well. Hopefully the next volume will get back on a more even keel, as I just don’t like Takane when he’s like this, and I don’t think Hana does either. – Sean Gaffney
UQ Holder, Vol. 18 | By Ken Akamatsu | Kodansha Comics – MORE Negima flashbacks, as the author tries to sell me on a Negi/Eva romance I still really don’t want, and essentially finishes giving us the backstory related to how things got this way. Next it’s time for more romantic stuff, as Chamo wants Pactios. Kirie isn’t able to do it because of her power, but Kuromaru can… and finally works up the nerve to confess about their future gender choices. Tota, of course,l takes everything in stride, but still it feels as if, as with Negima, any romance in the series moves at the speed of a slug. We also add in Karin towards the end, who wants to pactio with Eva but is steered towards Tota, and confesses some of her past as Judas Iscariot to him. If you’ve read all of both series, this was OK. – Sean Gaffney
The Water Dragon’s Bride, Vol. 11 | By Rei Toma | VIZ Media – I never doubted for a minute that this series would have a happy ending, but man, Toma-sensei really nailed the Water Dragon’s God’s terror in the face of mortality as well as Asahi’s abject despair when she believes he has died. It’s heartbreaking (and relatable). I also loved that Subaru’s confession prompts Asahi to take the initiative and get her smooch on with the Water Dragon God, and that he cries from his happiness. I will try not to think about how they’re going to navigate their future together and just be happy that they’re together. Looking forward to more Toma-sensei in the future! – Michelle Smith
Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 4 | By Kamome Shirahama | Kodansha Comics – Another of the quartet of young apprentices takes the spotlight: Richeh, who wants to make her own magic and hates compromising. Sadly, that makes it hard to take tests, and she’s doing the next one, along with Agott and a third apprentice, a young man who seems to be abused and belittled by his instructor, but has a wealth of knowledge once he gets over his self-hatred. As always half the reason to read this is the art, which gives us the snake-like path that the test-takers travel down. And of course there’s Coco, who may not be taking the test but still finds a way to get herself into trouble, though more accurately trouble comes to her. This is still gorgeous and compelling. – Sean Gaffney
