what rly pisses me off is mentors/trainers/more experienced horse ppl tell newer riders that their horse is just a jerk! its important to teach beginners the warning signs of pain! sometimes its p fucking serious!

glory v obviously was having knee pain but several VERY experienced horse ppl i trusted that she just needed training. not only was it frustrating and confusing for both of us, early intervention wouldve made it more manageable. now, a horse that mightve lived to 30 will have to be put down in a few years.

do u know how guilty i feel, despite the neglect not being my fault? i was a kid. i was around ppl who had been riding for over 30 yrs. PROFESSIONAL horse ppl. i described OBVIOUS symptoms of pain and everyone told me i should be meaner to her. looking back, i know glory was trying so hard for me and pushed through the pain. willow was so timid bc she was scared and suffering! im fucking livid

Would love it if people would stop brushing off clear signs of pain and discomfort as a horse "being a mare" or "just being a jerk", it's doing my fucking head in.
