SUMMARY: you and drew have been dating for quite some time now, but have not brought your relationship for the public to see yet. Drew has the outer banks season 3 premiere to attend, so he goes without you. He misses you a lot at the premiere, but is completely satisfied with everything when he comes back home and gets to sleep in your arms.

It is the evening of the Outer Banks season 3 premiere, and your boyfriend Drew is definitely going to be one of the main attractions of the event. He has been gone since early afternoon to prepare for the premiere and get ready, and you have been with him long enough to know that premieres can take a lot of time and he will be coming extremely late at night.

You and Drew have been reluctant to publicise your relationship. The thought of being recognised scares you, and even though Drew does have many supportive fans who will love you, the haters are always present around. You're afraid they will get to your head and make you believe made up stories about your relationship, ruining everything you have with Drew.

Today was one of the moments where you actually wished you could've gone with him. You absolutely adore the entire Outer Banks cast, and it would be nothing short of a spectacular night with them. Sometimes you do like to fantasize about you and Drew being public, you're in the most beautiful outfit and both of you are walking down the red carpet together, your hands intertwined. But you are quick to come back to reality when your mind shows you a scenario of you finding horrifying comments regarding you on a picture of you both, saying how you aren't the one for him and he's better off with someone else.

You remind yourself that the best place you can be at the moment is actually where you are right now: your couch, with a massive bowl of popcorn with you as you start watching the live stream of the premiere. You see all of the cast members walk in, looking beautiful as ever. You watch their interviews with utter love. They really are some of the best people.

Suddenly the cameras are directed towards Drew. He's wearing a dark blue suit, and you can't help but gape at how gorgeous he looks in that color. The fit of the suit is just perfect and he's getting his pictures clicked, his grace coming so effortlessly.

As Drew walks ahead on the carpet he's stopped by an interviewer. "Hello Drew, how are you feeling today?" The interviewer asks him.

"I'm good, super excited for everyone to see season 3," he says in the mic, smiling.

"What is Rafe like in the season? What will we get to see of him?"

"My lips are sealed for any information," he chuckles, "but he has done some... things." The interviewer laughs at his reply.

"Well Drew, is there anything you would like to say to your loved ones and your fans?"

"Thank you for all your constant support," he says, a big smile now on his face. "It makes me so happy to think how much everyone has been loving the show. Nothing is more fulfilling than watching your own hard work reaping you the big results."

At that moment, the interviewer ends his small talk with Drew and he walks on ahead on the carpet. The Twinkie is on the red carpet and watching Drew pose with it makes you giggle, as he goes inside it and looks out the window and gives a cheeky smile. The livestream goes on to show the interactions of the rest of the cast members with the interviewers and among themselves.

You suddenly wake up from your nap on your couch which you hadn't realised you had started taking. It takes a few seconds for you to realise what's happening; the popcorn bowl is now empty and is lying on your carpet upturned, and the live stream has ended. You check the time on your phone to see it's nearing 1.30 am at night. You had initially thought of staying up until Drew comes home, but your sleepy mind has different plans for you. Giving in, you decide to head in to your bedroom to go to sleep.

↶ೃ✧˚. ❃ ↷ ˊˎ-

The gentle sounds of shoes being placed on the ground and the rustle of clothes wakes you up from your sleep. You open your eyes groggily and turn around in bed to see Drew's back towards you, as he is getting into comfortable clothes for the night.

"Hey bubs, you're home?" You ask gently. Drew turns around and you can visibly see the tiredness in his eyes.

"Oh, love, yeah I just came home," He walks up to you and bends down at your level. "I didn't expect you to wake up. Go back to sleep," he says, pressing a kiss to your cheek.

"No it's okay, how was it?" You ask, your eyes not fully open from the heavy sleep lying on them.

"It was really amazing. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow okay?" He gets up from the floor and disappears in the washroom. After a few minutes he comes back out, and lies in the bed next to you.

You wrap your arms around his neck and gently pull his head onto your chest. He wraps his arms around your waist, and you start to play with his hair with sleepy motions of your hands, as you both drift off to sleep.

Drew had missed you a lot on the premiere - a lot more than he thought he would. There were so many moments where he wished he was answering the interviewer's question with you on his side. Your presence calms his nerves down whenever he feels a bit anxious, and such massive premieres, especially for a show as famous as Outer Banks, tend to make him slightly nervous.

But he knows you both aren't ready to come out to the whole world. Not yet. The world can be harsh, and even the strongest soldiers fall on their faces from its adversities. What you have is something made for just the two of you, and even though at times it feels like it shouldn't be this way, you know that this is actually the best you can have. And you are completely satisfied with it.

Why wouldn't you be? Drew is yours, and you are his. And that's all that matters.

Confidence rolled off you as you posed for the cameras. People commented that the clothes were just made for you, which they would be very right. Levi was the designer and every single thing on your body was made just for you.

You had started off as Levi's assistant, then he asked you to model his clothes because you inspired him and then he realised that you were so inspiring because he was madly in love with you. Levi confessed his love and you became a couple. Most would be shocked at Levi because it took you two about four months to become a couple.

Levi had moved fast, which wasn't like him. However, he knew he wanted you, he knew he loved you, he knew you were his forever and he wasn't just gonna let that slip through his fingers. Now you were a year into your love and he had already picked out a ring for your engagement, he just needed to set up a perfect day.

He made a few notes on your outfit and thought about something else he could dress you up in. He gave you a gentle smile as you posed in such an alluring way, it just drove him crazy with love. He could see you were enjoying yourself as you worked.

The photographer ended the shoot and showered you with praise. As soon as he started talking to you your true adorable nature came out. He shook your hand. "Thank you so much. It's been a joy working for you."

You felt your heart race. "R-Really? You're too kind. Umm. It was an honour to have you as a photographer. You're incredible. You make anything look beautiful." You fidgetted a little. "C-can I get you a drink or something to eat? You must be so tired."

He blushed at your words. "Oh, I'm okay, don't worry."

You hurried over to the small fridge. "I've got an ice cold water here or a diet coke?"

He chuckled. "A coke would do great."

You opened it and handed it over. "You should get some sugar in you too. Have a cookie."

"You are so sweet."

Levi made his way over to you and called your name. "Don't forget about yourself."

You gasped in shock. "Oh! You're right."

He opened a can for you and handed it over. "Drink this. You should also take a seat as well, okay?"

"Ah, but everyone..."

He ushered you to a comfy seat. "Focus on yourself, okay?" He knelt and slipped your heels off. "You're important." He massaged your feet. "It's a good job I'm very focused on you, otherwise you'd be very sick."

You hummed a laugh. "You care so much about me."

He leaned up and kissed you. "Of course. You're my world."

"You're mine. I wouldn't be doing this job if it weren't for you. I count my blessings every day."

He glided his hands up your leg. "Darling, you are more magical than you think." He smiled a little at you. "We're going out for dinner tonight. I'm going to take you to the place we went to on our first date."

You squeaked. "Yay! I love that place."

Levi took your hands and showered them with kisses. "I love it too. We'll make tonight special." Tonight was the night, he was going to ask you to marry him.

Hello everyone, good morning / afternoon / evening! ❤️

First and foremost, we want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and interest in Blue Harbor! Summer is a busy season for many of us, but as we reach the tail end and fall slowly approaches, we couldn't be prouder to foster a little community where we can all get away from the craziness of everyday life. As we'd like to reiterate, we strive to keep this group as inclusive and welcoming as possible — to new and old members alike! Thus, we want to issue a few gentle reminders to everyone in light of some feedback that we've received thus far to ensure that we all remain on the same page. Please read the entire post thoroughly and like this post once you've done so in order to acknowledge that you've read it.

As per our activity guidelines, we enforce a strict no bubbling policy. Each week, we require that all members reply to three different muns in order to pass our activity check. These three muns whom you interact with per character must be switched out as often as feasibly possible from week to week in order to ensure that you are interacting with as many other writers as possible within the group. In general, if you feel as though you are struggling with this, please reach out to us and we will do our best to help! Additionally, a 'randomized groups' task / event will be rolling out within the next few weeks in order to spice things up on the dash and facilitate new connections; if this poses any issues for anybody, let us know off anon!

In a similar vein, we ask that you please attempt to prioritize threads evenly. We completely understand that sometimes you have to go where the muse takes you, or sometimes there may be plot-driven threads that take priority over others, but we want to reiterate that everyone should feel welcomed here regardless of IC / OOC connections! If there are threads in your roster that you simply aren't feeling anymore, that's perfectly okay, but please try to let your thread partner know so you can think of something new together!

In terms of OOC activity, please put your best foot forward when it comes to reacting to calls and plotting. Slide a react to someone you may have not interacted with before, offer up your best ideas and apply as much effort as possible when fleshing out character dynamics. Additionally, we understand that sometimes things get lost and it may be hard to keep up with the sheer amount of amazing writers that we have in this group, but we also ask that you try your best to stay on top of messages as a result of calls and plots. We say that it's never too late to go back to a DM and continue the conversation!

In terms of IC activity, we want to clarify that our definition of an interaction consists of a traditional written thread. We absolutely adore the increase in text / call / facetime threads on the dash, and we do not want them to stop by any means. We think they're a wonderful way of keeping muse high and furthering development for characters! We just ask that you keep in mind that they do not count towards activity check, and you will still need three different thread interactions in order to pass each week! This will be further clarified on our official guidelines page as we realized it was not previously specified.

In general, have fun! Writing on a platform like this is a truly wonderful hobby and we can’t express enough how awesome it has been getting to share it with every single one of you over the course of the past two months! We’ve been having an amazing time witnessing all of your enthusiasm and we hope you have been too!

As always, we are open to any comments and concerns addressed to the main. The more specific, the better! We want to help in any way that we can. Like mentioned above, please read the entire post thoroughly and like this post once you've done so in order to acknowledge that you've read it.

Favorite Farmgirl (Penny/Fem!Farmer)

Summary: After a long day on the farm, you come home to your wife, Penny. Kisses, cuddles, and tickles happen. The end. (An anon asked me for this ages ago and I have finally delivered. I think successfully marrying Penny in my Stardew save filled me with inspiration. Anyways, enjoy!!)

After a long day on the farm, nothing brought you more joy than going home to Penny. As you crossed the threshold into the house, you kicked off your boots and headed to the sink, scrubbing the dirt off of your hands and wiping the sweat from your brow.

You wondered where Penny had run off to, as she was usually in the kitchen around this time. Suddenly, you felt a pair of arms wrap around you from behind, making you gasp with surprise, although it was obvious who had snuck up on you.

“There’s my favorite farm girl,” she said, pressing a kiss into the crook of your neck.

You melted into her touch, a pleased hum falling from your lips. “Hello to you too,” you replied, grinning. You turned to face her, leaning in to kiss her softly.

“Did you accomplish everything you wanted to today?” she asked. It was a question she often posed to you in the evenings. “If not, that's okay. We've got all the time in the world!”

You chuckled at her optimism. “I fed the animals, watered the crops, and did some shopping. Oh, and Sam says hi. We ran into each other while he was heading to work.”

Penny smiled. “Sounds like you were busy! I’m glad you’re home now, so we can relax.”

“Me too,” you said, pulling her closer by her waist. Your fingers climbed higher, pressing into her sides and making her giggle, an adorable sound that you have spent many hours drawing from her lips, ever since you moved to Pelican Town and met the shy, red-headed girl who had since become your wife.

She batted at your hands uselessly. “I said relax, not get all riled up!”

“Maybe I like riling you up,” you replied, grinning.

It was a clumsy dance, walking through the doorway of the bedroom and pushing Penny back against the mattress, still clinging to her in a tickly hug. Her melodic laughter came in soft waves as you manhandled her onto the bed, and then grew louder, persistent as your fingers began to scribble wildly against her sides.

Her legs kicked and her arms flailed, her cheeks turned pink and her smile stretched across her face. She was adorable, absolutely beautiful. Your heart melted at the sight.

As you lost yourself in admiring her, Penny took the opportunity to strike back. Her fingers found your belly and attacked, sending you into a similar fit of laughter.

“You worked so hard today, you deserve a break,” she said. Her tone was not quite teasing, but there was a hint of it beneath a sweet and genuine mask. “Let me make you laugh instead.”

And that was exactly what she did, exploring the sensitive spots she had found throughout your relationship. Your sides and stomach had been obvious places, poked when you were still just friends. Harder to reach places like your underarms and feet came during the dating stage. Spots like your inner thighs and ears came after marriage. She still exploited them all, giggling along with you as she gently took you apart.

It had been a very long day. Your life in Stardew Valley was certainly demanding. The farm, the mines, the quests to fill, friendships to maintain. After a long day, it was always nice to unwind, whether that be with a book by the fireplace, or squirming beneath Penny’s tickling fingers. Either way, your wife always knew how to improve your day.

As your laughter began to grow breathless, the time growing later and your energy draining, her touches slowed and her lips captured yours, kissing you softly.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you too,” you replied, a giddy smile still etched onto your flushed face.

Penny was asleep in bed promptly at ten o’clock, as usual, but you stayed up, watching her rest. Starting a new life in Stardew Valley had been a risk, but you didn’t regret it for a second. The work was hard, but it was better than rotting behind a desk like you were years prior.

And meeting Penny was the best thing to come out of it all, that was for sure. Slowly but surely, you fell asleep beside her, resting up before another long day.

Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun! Volume 2: Into The Fire

I can't give Kodansha enough praise for (specifically) how they're handling Iruma-kun. I was worried when they announced it as single volumes, but the breakneck release schedule of every 2 months is great. There's a massive backlog of volumes, which means English readers get Iruma at an incredibly fast pace! Either way, it means the second volume's released and there's plenty to talk about with it!

Right away, NIshi's malleable style pulls me right back into Iruma-Kun. I love how fluid and expressive these designs are, how different a character can look from one page to the next. It feels so right with how all over the place Iruma-Kun is.

Similarly, the approach to "action", if you can really call it action, appears early on and works great with the overall style of the manga. Typically speaking, I'm more a fan of storyboarded action (where you see its progression and movement through paneling), but there's a good few exceptions like Iruma-kun, where I do enjoy the more pose based appeal. For it to work though, you need to be really good at expressing entire scenes with a single panel, and I'd say Nishi pulls it off quite well.

Now, you'd think when you're reading content you've already watched (at least once), and from almost 4 years ago now, that some of the comedy might wear thin. Nope. In fact, it's almost the opposite, as plenty of these moments end up feeling nostalgic, like Iruma's appearance by carriage (graciously announced by Opera). It's a bit challenging to explain, but with the unique life only found in the manga, and the differences due to restrictions and approach, the humor doesn't feel worn or thin in any spots.

Of course, it's not all comedy, this is still an impactful shounen for younger audiences, so they throw in pieces like this here and there. I really enjoy how wildly characters are able to swing between their more demonic side, and the more human one. Also, I'm a sucker for negative space with emotional realizations like this. Iruma's worried about being outed as a human, but his friends are worried about why he's feeling down. It's really endearing, and I like that they're able to so easily alleviate Iruma's worries. Anyways, the purpose of the negative space here is to show what Iruma's focused/centered on in this moment, that being Azz-Kun and Clara. But yeah, Iruma-Kun vol. 2 is still, unsurprisingly, checking every possible box it can.

I know I already said that the humor was well received in this volume, but it just works so well with Nishi's approach to movement. The posing and character design and the perceived delay between the two actions is just perfect. It's such great humor.

It takes quite a while, but there's also things in the manga that are inferior to the anime. Truthfully though, what can you do? The manga does nothing wrong with it's wonderful art, but the absence of color really hinders it in comparison. And that's mostly where the anime succeeds. Where there's set limitations, such as not having access to color or movement and the like, the anime picks up on what the manga wants, and brings out the best in it.

Also, it's in this volume that we get our first look at Ameri! I'm a massive fan of her character in the anime, so I was super excited to get a glance at her in the manga, and I wasn't disappointed. Her character design in the manga is super interesting, and actually leaves me somewhat disappointed with the anime's interpretation. Here, Ameri's design has something more.... well almost sultry to it, and it all comes from the eyes. I was super surprised to see how different it makes Ameri feel, but I'm completely for it.

Of course, our cute and Shoujo-obsessed Ameri still exists and is absolutely adorable, but first, this page. Nishi's posing and sense of movement through single panels is just something else, and I love how creative they get with perspective and field of view to really bring out the most in these panels.

Anyways, cute Ameri! I can never get enough of her like this.

I just love how responsive Nishi's character designs and art style are, I can't get enough. How the shading and line art change based on mood or appeal for example with this panel of Ameri. Her hair is usually shaded much darker, and her eyes much sharper, but here they're both the inverse of that to draw the cuteness out of her design. I just love it, I love how fluid Iruma-Kun is as a manga so, so much. (regular shaded Ameri below to show the difference as well)

And just to end it off, Azz-Kun and Clara sneaking around following Iruma.

I'm not exactly the target demographic for a shounen manga that focuses on friendship, doing well in school, respecting adults, and so on and so forth, but I hold it very dear nonetheless. Maybe because it's something that makes me feel younger than I am while reading it, maybe because it's just simply well done on all fronts, maybe something else entirely. But whatever it is, I'm so incredibly happy to be able to have and own each and every volume of this story now that it's been licensed.

And then there was you and Eddie. Eddie wasn’t hiding his joy at all, those dimples you so adored in full throttle as he looked at the camera with starry eyes. All that hard work, all those late nights, finally beginning to come to fruition. He didn’t have to say it – you knew. You knew he was beginning to see the shape of a rockstar forming that you’d always been able to view. Seeing himself in the spotlight that you’d always shone on him, blind faith and all.

He was proud, and you were prouder.

On your tippy toes, hand curling around Eddie’s shoulder like an anchor as your chin tilted up and your teeth flashed to the camera. You probably looked ridiculous – you felt ridiculous. But there was no time for some elegant pose or faux cool act like Gareth or Jeff. You were bleeding out all your pride and all your happiness, and it was all for the warm body beneath your palm. The boy you’d be holding dearly when it was all said and done at the end of the night, letting him collapse into your solace as he giggled and muttered his disbelief at how well the night went once you were both safely back in his bed.

“Say cheese!”

Jeff was all but ignored, only Gareth loudly proclaiming the word through gritted teeth.

You squeezed Eddie’s shoulder a bit tighter, and he smiled a bit wider as you whispered, “I’m so proud of you, Rockstar.”

You didn’t realize you were crying until the first tear drops onto the photo, narrowly missing your overly exuberant face and landing instead on the back of the part of the photo unseen from this point of view.

The part that was on display. The part that Eddie would let the world see.

My School President wants to subvert your expectations

(or: if you're not watching this show, you're missing out on something wonderful)

...so. I am supposed to work today, but I don't wanna and also i rewatched all four episodes of My School President last night and if I don't let out as many feelings as possible about it I might explode because I am unhinged.

so I wrote a 4,700+ word essay i'm so sorry oh my god I spent hours writing this good lord

episode 1 / the introduction

episode 1 plays out mostly as a traditional high school series might. we have gun, who is not the greatest student, but who loves music and, even more than that, loves music club - which revolves around his friends and the band they’re in. it is, as we’ll learn a few episodes down the line, his “safe zone”, and the one place in school where he’s found love and acceptance.

we also have tinn, who is the son of the incredibly strict principal and who himself is a fantastic student, good looking, admired by all the other students. he gets voted in as school president, and thus has complete control over the fate of all the school clubs - including, of course, the principal’s least favourite club (on account of how its members keep failing their classes and almost burning down the school), the music club.

the dynamic between tinn and gun is familiar to us - it’s a rivalry, with one side being very charming if a little ridiculous and the other being a traditional tsundere-type character - stern and not particularly forthcoming or unforgiving at first glance. we see little hints though, very early on, that tinn, despite his exterior, gets drawn into gunn’s music.

the end of episode 1 is our first real insight that not everything is going to go quite as expected - thanks so a slow reveal that tinn has doodled a little picture of gun singing, and written next to it the words “you’re cute. so damn cute. cuter than anyone in the world.”

it’s a well-used trope in BL romances to have the handsome, tsundere character be secretly a MASSIVE SIMP for his love interest. we’ve seen this in previous GMMTV shows, with a mid-series reveal that the tsundere has been wildly in love and putting up a ridiculous front the entire time. What MSP is turning on its head is not the fact that Tinn has feelings, but the decision to reveal it in episode 1. the traditional mid-series reveal allows romantic tension to develop in the story, the will-they-won’t-they of each moment existing because we don’t know for certain that the tsundere character has feelings. the reveal is usually used after the first kiss, when the tension is no longer needed by the narrative.

MSP deciding to remove that tension entirely completely changes the way they need to build the romance between tinn and gun, as well as subverting our own expectations around what we’re watching. tinn is no longer cool and detached and stern - he’s awkward and adorable and… completely insane, honestly, he’s just absolutely unhinged. he does not know what he’s doing and has somehow boxed himself into pretending to be a tsundere in his secret quest to help gun save the music club.

now, the tension in the story is whether tinn can get gun to stop hating him - and if, how and when gun will develop feelings for tinn.

(yeah yeah yeah yes, we the viewers know that they’ll end up together, but that’s beside the point)

I can't believe this got so out of hand that I need to use a cut - let's kEEP GOING I GUESS

episode 2 / in which we are made aware that all is truly not what it seems

episode 2 introduces us to another trope - the “secret correspondant” trope. only, of course, it’s not a secret here. we see tinn posing as ‘nong lion’ and messaging the music club to try and help them with their problem (and side note - MSP has the same structure as Bad Buddy, wherein episodes are self-contained stories; an obstacle appears and is resolved in the same episode). in fact, the show turns the trope on its head even further by having gun almost immediately suspect tinn, only to get conveniently thrown off the scent by tinn’s bestie for the restie, and the owner of the sole braincell on the show, tiw. and even beyond that, tinn does a terrible job at hiding the fact that he’s ‘nong lion’, but the show just mines this for comedy, because a huge running line in the show is that the members of the music club are, bless them, absolute dummies.

even so, the episode culminates in tinn openly helping gun in-person (on a stage in front of a bunch of other people, no less!!) and then openly vowing to help the music club win the hot wave contest.

which isn’t a super selfless move - tinn is told earlier that evening by an old music club alumni that music club members can’t date unless they win the hot wave contest. of course, one of the very first things we learn about the music club in the show is that it’s former leader lost the hot wave contest because of his girlfriend, so it seems possible that maybe that rule doesn’t actually exist anymore. but that’s for a later time.

episode 3 / remember episode 2? lets do that again but MORE

episode 3 of my school president takes the concept of subverting expectations and turns it into a whole-ass episode (and it’s perfect).

episode 3 opens with tinn going on another adorable little meltdown about how cute gun is, only for gun to be standing right there listening. another trope again, but this time - i have to wonder whether gun realises what has happened. the narrative has told us over and over that he’s sort of a dummy - the remainder of episode 3 revolves heavily around this, in fact. but he did suspect tinn of being nong lion in episode 2, he’s not always completely obtuse, and he explicitly asks tinn who he was talking about, before waving away the conversation entirely because he has more important hot wave-related things to discuss. this is one of the many instances we see of tinn conflating his own fantasies with reality - something that will become infinitely more prevalent this episode.

speaking of: tinn has to tutor gun. we see them sitting at a table and tinn has somehow made calculus sexy by drawing a heart with equations. they move closer, almost kiss and then- it is, of course, just a figment of tinn’s wild imagination. in reality, he’s yelling at gun for being a gay who can’t math. this is the first time the show tells us to be on our guard in this episode, because tinn’s little mind is going wild and not everything we see will be real.

eventually, tiw suggests they (tinn and gun) move in to his sibling’s apartment for a week to study because tiw is a romantic mastermind, and then, when tinn panics because he does not know how to be a normal person around gun, tiw suggests tinn recreate classic BL tropes with gun. like in bad buddy, tiw says. tiw played by mark pakin, who was in bad buddy. tiw who says that his favourite actor in bad buddy is mark pakin. i’ve gotten off track a little. except i HAVEN’T because -

ok, MSP is written by the same writers as Bad Buddy and directed by one of the assistant directors of Bad Buddy (and 1000 Stars), director au. this is au’s first full director role, but he’s obviously been working closely with backbone of GMMTV aof and aof appears a number of times in the MSP special episode to discuss the process of making the show, which would maybe indicate he had a decent hand in the show - or at the very least, has had a hand in helping au develop his own skills (and to be clear, au worked as part of the writing team for years before this, so he’s not new to the business by any means) (not me speculating on aof’s own staff career growth plans loool). i think it’s not a stretch to say that MSP has a very BB feel to it, and i’m so endlessly impressed that it has managed to maintain that so far whilst also forging its own identity as a show. it doesn’t feel like a carbon copy, or a poor imitation - it feels very much like it’s telling it’s own story, but it’s using a something that BB used super successfully to do so, which is the subversion of tropes. MSP goes one step further with that though, and uses it differently (helped by the fact that because BB is set in college and MSP is in high school, the tropes are naturally a lot less… well. horny.)

MY POINT BEING that that Bad Buddy call out was deliberate. they didn’t use the show just bc they had mark pakin saying the line - i think it’s likely that they felt it necessary to add in mark’s line 4th wall breaking line about himself because it was his character making the reference, but they want us to know what they’re doing. they’re referencing Bad Buddy because this show is, in a way, a spiritual successor to BB - it likely wouldn’t exist as it does if BB didn’t already exist (and wasn’t a huge hit). in the very next scene, we get a reference to the band scrubb, which is a huge 2gether reference - and, looping this all back to the creative team, au was a screenwriter for Still 2gether and aof created/directed Still 2gether. tinn’s character is a direct play on sarawat in 2gether - he is, in so many ways, sarawat, but the narrative is using him in a different way.

oh my god i legit wanted to write a one sentence post about this show how did i get here

OK GETTING BACK TO EPISODE 3 oh my god

episode 3 shows us over and over that tinn creates these vivid fantasies about being in classic romantic scenarios with gun that he then tries to turn into reality, pet tiw’s instruction - only for the reality to be a lot less romantic. in his one actual, real-life chance to get close to gun (the ballroom dance) where he’s not just trying to recreate something from a BL series, he gets so overwhelmed and nervous that he can’t dance at all, which we’re told through the loud and quick sound of his heartbeat.

and then, part way through the episode, the show starts bait-and-switching us.

first: tinn sees gun with food on his lip and fantasises about brushing it away with his thumb (an absolute romance series staple). gun licks it away before tinn can do any of that, because of course he does - but then tinn gets food on his lips and gun reaches over to brush it away. finally, tinn has ended up in a romance series moment with gun, only it wasn’t one of his own deliberate creation. it just happened.

second: tinn and gun talk at the swimming pool about themselves - finally. they’ve been living together for a week, but we don’t see them often having conversations about who they are. gun talks about seeing the music club as his ‘safe zone’. tinn explains why he became school president (to support people’s dreams). gun tells him that that’s such a handsome answer, then asks “have you used that line to hit on anyone?” tinn replies: “you.” we expect by now that it’s another fantasy moment, because we’ve been duped by the show with these moments multiple times by now, but once again the show twists things. the moment is real, tinn really says “you” and it hangs between them for a moment before he quickly changes the subject. but it’s the clearest declaration either of them have made. we don’t know what gun is feeling by this stage, however we do know that gun is in fact the one who gave them a Classic Romance Moment of brushing away food. it’s the show telling us that, whether he realises it yet or not, he’s in this too.

the third bait and switch is the Big One, except it’s not at all: we reach the ballroom dance midterm and tinn is trying to get out of dancing altogether - he still isn’t sure he can do it, he still feels overwhelmed when he tries to dance with gun, his heart races too hard and fast. gun refuses to listen to him and makes him get up. he tells tinn to close his eyes and says “let me help you”. tinn closes his eyes and suddenly the sports hall fades away - he and gun are in beautiful suits, they’re in the music club room (gun’s safe zone!), gun’s band chinzilla is playing and he and gun are dancing. throughout the episode we’ve heard tiny portions of the melody of the ballroom dance song, but now finally we hear the whole song, performed by chinzilla. as they dance together, the scene flashes between the fantasy dance, their practice dance by the pool and crucially, the actual dance that’s happening in the sports hall. as the dance comes to an end, we realise that even though we saw it happen in tinn’s fantasy, it was happening in real life too. the way they danced in tinn’s fantasy was how they really danced - staring into one another’s eyes, smiling at each other, looking completely lost in the moment. gun said “let me help you” and entered tinn’s fantasy with him. gun said “let me help you” and he’s telling us, the viewers, that tinn isn’t going to make this romance happen alone (even with the help of tiw). tinn can’t create romance moments when gun isn’t on the same page.

the final bait and switch happens in a series of parts: prior to the ballroom dance midterm, on the night after they go swimming, gun makes tinn share the bed (rather than the Bad Buddy reference sleeping arrangement they’ve been doing all week). tinn, because he’s a lunatic, asks if he can stare into gun’s eyes and gun obliges. after a moment, we hear the heartbeats again - but it’s gun that looks away and decides to go to sleep.

the episode ends, after the ballroom dance, with gun and tinn having a small moment together outside the school. gun tries to give tinn back the pencil case he borrowed earlier, because he of course does not own a pencil case. it’s one that says “i think about you” on it that gun has, obviously, doodled all over. specifically, he has drawn a cute little monster and written the name ‘tinn’ with a bunch of arrows pointed at it. you think about who now, gun? anyway, tinn tells gun to keep it, because what high school student doesn’t have a pencil case oh my god gun - and they hold hands over the pencil case for a moment. until the tinn’s mother the principal comes out of her office and tinn very gently drops gun’s hands. that’s not relevant to this, i just think it’s Big Foreshadowing. anyway. tinn leaves with his mother and gun is left standing there, staring after him. and once again, we hear the heartbeats. they’re gun’s, because of course they are. we get a flashback to the night before, to tinn staring into gun’s eyes and looking away, and we know for certain that that was gun’s heartbeat and not tinn’s, and that it’s happening again now. bait and switch - tinn’s heartbeats followed us through the whole episode, only for us to end on gun’s heartbeat, and a confirmation that yes, he’s feeling it all too.

again, the show is revealing things early. no longer do we have the tension of whether gun feels something too - now we have the tension of whether gun is going to do anything about it, or acknowledge it at all.

we're only up to episode 4 by now, and I wouldn't say that episode 4 turned much on its head that hadn't already been set up before, but I do think it serves as a way to start building up a number of new plot points, so I'm going to talk about that a little, just so that I can revisit this later once more episodes have aired.

episode 4 / resetting expectations (...sort of?)

episode 4 of my school president introduces us to a new character: tinn's original rival, sound, who joins the music club (because of course tinn has a rival).

I think it's actually really key to point out a tiny scene that happens at the beginning of episode 4, as the show is starting to lay out the plots for the episode. gun and the band are looking for a solo guitarist (hence the eventual introduction of sound). he puts posters up on a notice board. tinn comes along and, because he's a dweeb, mentions that people need permission from the school council to put up posters. gun sighs and obediently starts to take the posters down, before tinn dives in and says that he'll let gun put them up anyway, he'll make a 'special exception'. real smooth, kid.

anyway, this fascinates me, because it's such a good display of how much their relationship has changed by this point. tinn and gun have had a surprising number of scenes together in front of this notice board - mostly with gun fighting back against tinn trying to enforce the school rules as school council president. here we see gun not fight, but immediately give into tinn instead (even though tinn had no desire to win, he's just got so little game oh my god this boy has NO GAME i'm obsessed with him). gun looks thrilled when tinn lets him put up the posters anyway - he respects tinn's word enough now that he wasn't going to fight, which is so the opposite of the gun we've seen so far. it's just a really interesting story beat to throw in.

they have a little moment again (in real life) (initiated by tinn) and gun's heartbeats from episode 3 appear once more, reminding us that gun is also Feeling Things. gun runs away in a flustered panic.

(tinn, it must be said, genuinely has no idea what's going on in gun's head. because tinn is a dummy.)

from here, the dual plot lines of the episode play out pretty traditionally. story A sees gun quit the music club and tinn take the opportunity to get closer to him now that he's not beholden to the no-dating-before-hot-wave rule that definitely still exists. they do get closer. in fact, they go on an accidental date, flirt heavily over some imaginary cake, and tinn finds a position for gun in the student council that would allow him to sing and play music, story B sees sound take over the music club, who are unfocused and not actually using their practice sessions to practice, only to be a tiny teen tyrant about it. the band beg gun to come back. gun feels as though the band will have a better chance to win hot wave without him. tinn sees this happen and convinces gun to go back to the music club, because that's clearly where his happiness lies. even if gun being in the music club will inevitably put the absolutely real and very much something gun definitely is aware of no-dating-before-hot-wave rule back into play.

gun rejoins the music club, but lets sound stay (sound, to be clear, mostly joined because he thought it would piss off tinn, but we start getting the indication by the end that he could also maybe find friendship and support in the club, just as the others did). they have their traditional bbq pork meal together to celebrate being back together. it's sacred.

so, it's all fairly cut and dry - and we as viewers probably already knew where these plots were heading and that the main issues would be resolved in this episode, thanks to the self-contained episode structure of the show.

until we see gun grab a bunch of the pork and run off, away from the bbq, yelling that he'll be back soon. he goes, of course, to tinn. he, quite crucially, claims that the group have finished eating and that there was some food left over and he just wondered whether tinn might want it - once again, we as viewers know this is a lie, and are left in possession in much more knowledge than the characters in the scene. gun is making up an excuse to bring tinn food, and to hang out with tinn. if the question this episode was 'gun is having feelings for tinn; what will he do with them?', then we saw moments over the course of the entire episode that answered that. gun, unlike tinn, has apparently an abundance of game (if anything he's a little too dangerous, frankly). he jumps both feet forward into flirting with tinn, and manages to conveniently set up scenarios in which he can do that - successfully, unlike tinn in episode 3. where he's a little more in control, we don't get a return of the panicked heartbeats from the beginning of the episode.

maybe tinn had put this flirting all episode down to the fact that gun was no longer in the music club. it's not really made clear. however, now gun is back in the club, and he's abandoned the sacred bbq pork time to have a nivea micellar moment with tinn (once again, gun successfully initiating a BL romantic moment in real life, because gun is the only one here with game). he gets tinn to take a photo of them together, and so they stand pressed shoulder to shoulder, hands touching. they're smiling at each other, and the camera jumps back and forth between the way they're looking at one another and their hands. tinn, probably emboldened by how much gun has put himself out there across the entire episode, starts to move his pinky finger closer. his hand is shaking, but we see them over and over barely looking at the camera because they're too busy smiling sweetly at each other, as tinn's finger twitches closer and closer - the slowest build up in the world, as we wonder whether he'll get the guts to do it. and then finally, finally, tinn loops his pinky around gun's, and gun responds in kind, and we see a shot of them taking the photo, they're fingers out of shot but entwined.

this is almost par for the course by now - how quickly this show has put tinn and gun on a playing field of both having feelings for the other, and both being at least somewhat aware that those feelings could be reciprocated.

episode 5 and beyond / is this show impossible to predict?

it's not really something we get to see too often, the very cautious build into something more. the next episode preview doesn't really tell us anything about how that develops (but rather that gun has a lot of other stuff going on, apparently). i think this becomes it's own question - now that MSP have turned the traditional BL pacing on its head (akin to the way Bad Buddy did it before), what do they do next. with BB, we very quickly saw that the obstacles between the lead characters were almost entirely external - it's the basis of the entire show. they couldn't be together because no one wanted them to be. it made the pacing of the romance make complete sense.

with MSP, we're going in much more blindly. the boys are already on a similar page and there's no obvious obstacles between them outside of the definitely very real no-dating-before-hot-wave rule that no one in the present day music club has even spoken about or mentioned (yet?). what this suggests to me, and why this is so fascinating, is that we therefore don't necessarily know the basic conceit of the plot from here on out.

yes, we want to see how tinn and gun ultimately admit their feelings for one another, but at episode 4 of 12, the show has already done most of the work in getting them there. inevitably, we need to be faced with obstacles and there have been a small number of hints, maybe, at the things that could go wrong for them, but it's fascinating because those hints have been very sparse.

there's the perceived rivalry of the music club and the school council - which tinn has accidentally perpetuated a bunch of times, because he's a dummy. episode 4 reminds us conveniently that this is still seen to exist outside of tinn and gun's gay little bubble, when we see the two random students discussing it in the hall (this is of course also how sound ends up joining the club). it's not a particularly violent rivalry though - we're not at Bad Buddy drop kick into the chest two seconds away from breaking out into a sharks and jets style dance number. i wouldn't say it's rife for conflict, but that's sort of the thing: it's almost impossible to predict at this point what will happen. we know that chinzilla will probably perform at hot wave, and at some point tinn and gun will probably kiss. beyond that? it's anyone's guess.

another obvious obstacle that has been (honestly quite lightly) is the principal - we are literally introduced to tinn's pov in episode 2 by the concept of his mother coming in between him and gun, when he dreams about gun turning into her. he's lied to her a number of times in the name of helping gun. her character is generally quite fascinating, because she's a near-constant antagonistic presence, but it's clear she has huge amounts of love and care for her son, and she's trying to do her best by her students. she's also really frugal though - in episode 2 we learn that she and her husband would argue because she felt that music was an unnecessarily expensive hobby. a real subtle moment that i'm sure won't come back in any fashion later down the line...

the other obvious one is of course the no-dating-before-hot-wave rule which, sure, might be real, but might even become an issue in some form or another even if it's not. the reason the music club lost hot wave the year before, as we know, was because the last leader was distracted on stage by his girlfriend. this is how we meet the music club in episode 1, and we see gun vowing to win hot wave next year, because he knows it's what will save the music club.

it seems as though episode 5 is about to introduce new conflicts too, or expand upon things that have really only been very barely hinted at. but, if I know anything it's that promos are unreliable, so only time will tell how that plays ou.

it's important though, in my opinion, that the show really hasn't hit us over the head with anything here yet (except the very real very current day hot wave rule that very much definitely exists - and even then, it has only been mentioned a handful of times at most between tinn and tiw, usually as an occasional reminder to the audience more than a constant driving force for tinn's actions). these are obstacles, but they ultimately haven't been shown to cause too much issue to tinn and gun's story - or at least, tinn and gun have successfully navigated everything with almost no pushback, hence the fact that they're both sailing through their own romantic storyline at a pace faster than an olympic runner.

there's not really an ending to this post yet, because we're only at episode 4. I'm not particularly committed to any theory about where this could go (except the one about the hot wave rule being real YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME IT'S REAL AU), but from a storytelling perspective alone: this show needs a conflict. the assumption it gave us and then systematically tore apart across the first four episodes was that the conflict would be around tinn and gun realising their own feelings for one another, because that's how these shows go. that's not the central conflict in MSP. the central conflict is... uh... one of these other things. or maybe a secret different thing. i don't know. come back to me in like 6 weeks.

ivory was a sidekick for hermit that was chased into villainy following her coming out as trans. as throne, she is now one of jordan's lieutenants in trinity and has assassinated several government officials.

jimmy, alias firebird, is an empire offices hero. he also happens to be allied with the fates under the alias wildfire. i'm sure this is of no import in the story /lie

i can't stop thinking about the gundam: the witch from mercury season finale: keep marching on instead of running off. attempting to consolidate some analysis about it as i watch this episode for the fifth time today. warning for spoilers.

first off, i love sophie recognizing that suletta can't hear her, and when she wants to prompt her to get aerial... she just starts shooting around her to make her inclined to get her gundam.

i also absolutely adore prospera and all her machinations. her preparing aerial for battle rather than going to rescue the others, or reunite with earth house and their ship... because she is waiting for suletta to come for aerial. i love how from the outset of this episode, it's clear that she wants to push suletta yet again.

i also noticed the OP changed? i don't think i was paying that close attention to it in the previous episodes, so it's possible it was before this one. but i noticed that now at the end it features sophie and norea instead of prospera and delling.

this scene with sophie also being able to override the antidote is interesting, since we finally have confirmation that it only works up until permet score three. which means that in order to get past that, pilots must make an active choice to endanger their lives. i'm also surprised that we see her remark that she's alive, after using that? partially because we've seen others reach that permet score before (suletta's father, elan). her phrasing makes it seem like the risk of death is much more immediate than we've seen previously. i'm also excluding suletta from the people we've seen at higher permet scores (and prospera said she previously reached permet score six), since we know there's something different with how aerial operates.

i still suspect that when suletta is piloting aerial, it isn't her own permet that's being accessed, since she seems to be in active communication with aerial and operating in conjunction with her. but i know we still don't have all the details regarding that, yet.

i noticed that sophie also seems to downgrade her permet score after she gets away from the antidote-user, so it seems like she's attempting to be really careful about how long she uses it for.

there's something interesting about this scene where one of the pilots is enraged over the dawn of fold crew using physical ammunition. a friend of mine brought up the fact that with physical ammunition (instead of beams), there's that continued propulsion posing further risk and damage, which i hadn't considered.

there's a few things about this scene with miorine and her father that i find interesting. first, that he covered for her and took the hit from the shrapnel. their relationship had always seemed so bad up until miorine started the business and started meeting with him regularly, and now it feels like we're seeing him acting more in the capacity as a father (or maybe even a soldier again) rather than a businessman.

what's also interesting to me is that he tells miorine to run.

suletta's mantra of "if you run, gain one, move forward, gain two" feels like it continues to be a curse throughout this series. there's a short story from aerial's point of view set between the prologue and episode one (found on the english site here) where aerial is cognizant of prospera's manipulations, and how suletta getting to go to school is just part of prospera's plans for revenge. in the short story, aerial begs suletta to run.

I wish I could tell her what's going on--that Mom is using her as a tool for revenge.

But I can't go against Mom. She's the parent who created me as well.

"I wonder if I'll be able to manage? I've never had any human friends, and besides, what if I can't handle the schoolwork?" I can see that she's starting to worry.

"I'm scared. Mercury is all I know, and Mom said she won't be able to go with me."

That's right, Suletta. It's absurd to start going to school now, all by yourself. You can study at Mercury. And what will the people here do without you to help them?

You don't have to be Mom's tool. You don't have to take on someone else's curse.

"Should I decline? If I go, I mustn't fail. Enrollment costs money, and I don't want to embarrass her. What should I do?"

It's okay, Suletta. It's okay to decline. It's okay to run.

"I can't decide what to do. I should go, right? But…"

Run, Suletta. Run. Run. Run!

She can't have heard my voice, but Suletta speaks as if responding to me. "If you run, gain one…"

"Move forward, gain two. Right, Aerial?"

and so even here, "move forward, gain two" is intimately linked with going through with prospera's plans (however unwittingly), and is continually used to push suletta to go things she is afraid of, or that she doesn't want to do. suletta relies on this mantra so heavily, quotes it so often, that other characters have started picking it up, too. miorine uses it, quotes it back at suletta to push her. (and we see other characters use it later in this episode, too, but i'll get to that.)

so it's interesting here to see someone, for the first time, say to run, instead. delling isn't aware of this mantra. he isn't connected enough to his daughter's life for that. but we as the audience are absolutely supposed to make that connection.

it's also interesting that, to compound this plea of his, he actually invokes miorine's mother, finally using her name (notrette). i'm curious about the exact circumstances of notrette's death, since this scene makes it sound as though they were all forced to escape from something, but notrette was left behind. but i do feel like his using her name here is absolutely meant to get miorine to make the same decision he once had. forcing her to run. leave him behind, this time. survive.

but miorine is too stubborn for that, as always. i really like how their relationship shifts a little here. even her saying that he could have told her sooner. but of course he's only admitting it now, when it's possible she might lose him. her only remaining parent.

then we switch to earth house. it's interesting how this conversation, too, is also about running. everyone flees but nika, who in seeing the physical ammunition, recognizes this is dawn of fold. i keep thinking about shaddiq and his decision to talk to dawn of fold directly this time, rather than using nika as a go-between. it keeps her in the dark, and directly results in nika, earth house, and miorine all being put in danger. i don't think he would have done it any other way, but it speaks to the level of callousness that he's capable of, especially when he cares for miorine, too. it also puts nika in this difficult position where she is technically complicit in what's happening now (she facilitated their communications to make this possible, after all), while at the same time being oblivious to it until this moment. it also really complicates her relationship with earth house when martin catches her using dawn of fold's call sign. because on the one hand, she is affiliated with dawn of fold. but on the other, if not for that, she and the rest of the earth house crew would be dead. it makes me desperately want to know what the repercussions for this will be, because i imagine that earth house will start to splinter.

i still can't get over vim jeturk choosing to pilot one of the suits directly. that he avoids the suits around plant quetta, and goes right in for seeking out the dawn of fold crew, not knowing his son is also on board. he really feels like a character that is so driven by pride, that it almost feels like he's blinded by the risk he's taking.

meanwhile, there's guel, hearing that there's a gundam on plant quetta, and immediately makes the connection that suletta must be here, and it prompts him to risk getting caught and escapes. their relationship is so interesting to me when it's so tenuous, and yet, she's one of the few characters that he believes holds genuine respect for him. that doesn't just view him as a tool, something to be used for political gain. and yet suletta hides from him every time she sees him, even though she also wanted to rely on him for that grassley duel. it really feels like he has so little to hold on to in his life other than this almost non-relationship with suletta, and yet that's enough to drive him forward.

i do love that vim's reaction to dawn of fold's desultors is pretty much the same as guel's. i used to think that they had jeturk mechs as a result of working together with vim in this plan, but now that's obviously not the case. i wonder if shaddiq used them intentionally to implicate jeturk heavy machinery, since he's very aware of the situation with vying for shares for the benerit group.

god, and then guel ending up in combat with his father, with neither of them knowing who the opponent is. guel seems like he's attempting to communicate with vim's mech, although it seems unlikely that the message was received. why else would they continue to fight?

i love watching guel for emotional reaction in this scene. the attempt to communicate failing, realizing his only choice is to fight. whipping around, aiming at the enemy and—faltering, because this isn't just a duel anymore. this person is trying to kill him. i love him grappling with that, crying as he says he can't die, doesn't want to die, steels himself to do the unthinkable, and he aims right for the cockpit.

and then he comes back to this idea of suletta, that mantra once again pushing him forward as he talks about "moving forward" after her. and that choice to "move forward, gain two" results in him killing his opponent, only afterward finding out that it's his own father. he's punished for following through with this too, even if he didn't realistically have other options if he wanted to live.

i really love this moment with vim. we've seen him continually mistreat and abuse guel, manipulate him, pull him into his plans—even his pursuit of miorine was just another order from vim. this is the kindest we see him with guel. his relief that guel was safe. talking about searching for him... guel is a character that feels so desperate for respect and validation that he proposes to suletta after one kind, genuine exchange and an admission of respect at the end of their duel. so it's easy to see how just this affects guel, gets him climbing out of his cockpit, urging his father to get out before the suit detonates...

i also think a lot about this fight itself. how his father disparaged his abilities as a pilot after he lost one time, even installing an AI in darilbalde for his rematch with suletta, and then banning him from participating in further duels because he was a disgrace to the company name. only for guel to go up against his father in an old, outdated jeturk mech that immediately lost an arm, while vim is likely in one of the newest models, a dilanza sol. and it's horrifying that the thing that affirms his abilities for the first time in a long time is that guel wins against the same man that held no confidence in his abilities, and it results in vim's death.

i love how unsettling prospera is in this next scene after she successfully kills the members dawn of fold, approaching suletta with her voice so gentle, so motherly, as though she didn't just gun people down. i love her also meeting suletta's protests about what she's done with that mantra, once again.

right from the beginning, prospera has been using this to push her daughter to do things she didn't want to do. but i adore how she offers it up here as a framework that justifies killing. if she kills to save someone else, it's acceptable, right? it's not anything to fear then, right? the way she even holds suletta's hand as she talks her through fighting in aerial, listing the people she can save, knowing exactly who she cares about most, exactly who can propel her daughter into killing someone if it's on their behalf...

this part still kills me, especially with how suletta mirrors it at the end, in the exact same pose as she offers her hand to miorine. but prospera again invoking that mantra, talking about moving forward.

and suletta taking that step right into the blood splatter in front of her, signalling exactly what moving forward means in this instance.

i think it's really interesting that in this scene with sophie, she's repeating exactly what she said to guel in the first episode. but in this case, her saying this isn't about drawing attention to the first time she used that line. instead, it's about drawing attention to how her own views of right and wrong are almost completely informed by what her mother has been telling her. didn't your mother ever teach you? she is leaning so hard into what prospera has told her in the previous scene.

in the short story, it also confirms that suletta didn't have any human friends before going to school. she only really interacted with aerial, and her mother on the increasingly rare occasions she ever came home. she's been so sheltered that prospera has been completely responsible for those views of right and wrong. is it any wonder she accepts what prospera tells her so readily when prospera justifies killing?

i'm still so curious about this phrasing, too. we've seen them continually make comments like, "you're a gundam," or this where sophie says, "you're the aerial." also the personification of the GUND-bits, with suletta repeatedly referring to them as "everyone," and us even seeing them as people in the elan duel.

aerial also clearly communicating directly with suletta is interesting, too. ever since the shaddiq duel i've really noticed the whale sounds that accompany it, and it's interesting that aerial is able to confirm the safety of earth house and suletta, which really makes me wonder how her perception works. i feel like without knowledge of the short story, up until the shaddiq duel, it was harder to notice the way that aerial definitely feels sentient.

"...but it's still that powerful?" this is such a fascinating comment, too. it's hard to imagine aerial as anything other than a weapon after such a show of force. i still really want to know the vanadis institute's original intentions with her.

i really want to know shaddiq's intentions with all of this, too, because he doesn't even seem fazed when he hears that the operation has failed.

and then, this scene. i've watched this so many times now. once suletta appears, the gunman turns on miorine and delling, and you know that suletta only has that split-second to act. i keep wondering if there was some non-lethal way she could've handled this, if she could've caged him in aerial's hand, but it does feel like this was the quickest way to stop him. but the way in which she does it—swatting him like a fly—is so dehumanizing on top of it.

i saw someone else post about this scene, commenting on the blood splattering on miorine too, and if that signals her being complicit in this on some level. that she argued that they don't scrap aerial. that she launched a PR video branding the gundams as safe. and here she is, seeing suletta use aerial to kill. even if it was for her sake.

suletta is so unsettling in this scene. falling in the blood, laughing it off like a child falling into a puddle. acting as though there's nothing wrong with what's going on. and that's where i wonder if operating on this framework of "move forward, gain two" is allowing her to look past what she's done. i'm really curious to see the repercussions of this later, and if she'll process it at all. if she's just propelling herself through this moment as though everything is normal because she has to.

and then we see this shot, in the same pose as prospera earlier. blood on her hand, as it is on aerial's.

suletta's attitude in this scene, especially with her being so cheerful, is just so horrifying. it makes me think back to the prologue, where we see her killing people in aerial, and thinking it's beautiful, like candles. but she was a child, and didn't understand what she was doing. didn't have the capacity to. but here she has the full awareness that she's taking another life, and yet she's acting like this.

and then this, clearly a parallel with the end of the duel from episode one, where miorine tells suletta that she's her fiancee now.

god. there's so much about this episode i'm still thinking about. i feel like there's so many different directions everything could go from this point forward, and i feel like all these relationships are suddenly struggling. i can't imagine miorine, who seemed so secure with suletta after episode 11, can ever look at her the same way after this.

i'm also still thinking about guel (as i almost always am) and wondering what will happen with jeturk heavy machinery now. he seemingly lost all respect that people had for him (extremely tenuous to begin with), continually made the company look bad, and he spent the last little while hiding from everyone including his own family, and going as far as temporarily changing his name. i can't imagine him heading the company after all this. i have to imagine that lauda takes over, instead. i'm really curious what guel will do. i'm also curious to see how he'll react to suletta after this.

i'm also interested in how both suletta and guel had to kill someone in this episode. guel was in a position where his life was being threatened, and he had to do it. suletta's position is a little more dubious, where i feel like there was room for her to make a different decision that allowed her to intervene in some other way. she also wasn't the one being threatened. but we see her still make an active choice to kill another human being.

i do really just want to see the two of them talk about it, when no one else was pushed to do this yet.

it's so hard to imagine them going back to school after all this. and especially so when they could get back there, and suletta will still be the holder. she will still be miorine's fiancee. but that may not be something that miorine wants, any longer.

thinking about GUND-ARM and earth house feels difficult now, too. martin discovered that nika is associated with dawn of fold. i can't see miorine being comfortable with suletta anymore. all these relationships which once felt secure feel really fractured at this point, and it's difficult to envision what everything will look like in season two. i can't wait for it, though.

Hihi!! As per usual I ADORED my last fill 💜💜💜 it was absolutely lovely

Currently there's several... Let's just say shitty things (understatement) happening in real life for me, so I thought about batting a few prompts at you because you always make me feel so much better. Of course, I don't expect you to do them all at once, it's just so you work through them in whatever order you prefer (and obviously mine don't all have to come out one after the other when people are sending you more; it'll just be nice to get them over time and I don't want to forget them (I thought of one related to the "Swan" singer alter ego and forgot it TwT my memory's bad lately bc of all the stress). Basically what we discussed in DMs).

All of them are with my usual non-binary Reader and set in the "I Guess I Fall Hard", "Cocoa Not Chanel" and "Kiss A Hundred Boys in Bars" universe 💕

Prompt 1: After getting themselves hired as a part-time model and assistant designer by Velvette, several photos of Reader and Angel Dust in fancy clothes go viral, and Reader uses that to convince Velvette to hire out Angel to do at least one joint photoshoot with them. (They poke at Velv's ego a bit with stuff like "well, if Mr Valentino can be convinced..." because of course she would go "nobody tells me what to do or who to hire, least of all that pissbaby). The photoshoot turns out to be super fun for them, and of course it's one of those where the models are posing doing hot couple-y things. Valentino is PISSED, but gets told off by Velvette. Worse, after the shoot goes out, it sells so well that Velvette wants to do it again, and when Val throws a tantrum, Vox of all people lectures him because he's not going to ruin something making this much money. Reader is basically smiling innocently and cackling on the inside.

Prompt 2: (this one would take place chronologically after 1, but if you wanna write this one first, just add a note at the top). Angel and Reader do a lingerie shoot together and get more than a bit hot and bothered in the process. Their dressing room in Velvette's studio doesn't have cameras, so they end up having sex there.

(Add on: there's one security camera that they knew about, but Vox keeps the recording for himself instead of showing Val because he got off to it and doesn't want to deal with Val getting mad for either of those things. Important here: Reader uses the alias "Noire" as a model, so that's what the Vees call them (they don't even know it's not their name) and the name Angel uses for them while at the job, aside from his usual "babe/doll/toots/etc" stuff.

Prompt 3: Directly after "Kiss A Hundred Boys", Angel can't get the idea of being tied up by Reader out of his mind, so he tells them. There's some careful negotiation and Reader makes sure it's something Angel actually wants, and then they agree to dress him up in something pretty, paint his lips (it's erotic for them both), spank him, tie him up, and top him (bites and such too). Reader insists on being able to see Angel's face, safeword use, and not being called "master" (sir is ok), as well as aftercare, during negotiations. Reader themself wears a pretty bondage-inspired lingerie set and high boots too. After, they rub down all the places where Angel was tied up, check for any bruising, take a bubble bath with him, and feed him snacks while cuddling before falling asleep. Angel can't get over how nice proper aftercare feels.

Prompt 4: Early in the relationship (as in knowing each other, they've kissed and such but aren't dating yet; Reader doesn't know Husk too well yet either), Angel gets badly hurt by Val and doesn't want to go to the hotel because Husk will ask questions, so he goes to Reader's apartment. Reader patches him up (and sort of surprises Angel with the amount of medical supplies they have, despite knowing about their job) but doesn't buy the story Angel tries to tell about the injuries. They go through them while cataloguing how they're most likely to have happened (not super graphically, sentences like "someone twisted your arm" for a torsion fracture) and when Angel asks how they know, they tell him they started learning how to patch up injuries because they survived a man like Val, and to survive they had to learn. Angel doesn't need to lie, because they've been there and they're never going to judge him. Angel ends up telling them the truth (however much detail you're comfortable with) and having a good cry instead of numbing it. They get his permission to call Husk and explain, and then make dinner for them both and cuddle Angel until they fall asleep.

Prompt 5: Early in the relationship, Reader is worried that Angel would prefer a more masc partner and not someone femme like Angel himself, and that Husk only doesn't mind because he also likes women. After talking about it and reassuring them that Husk doesn't think they're a girl just because they're pretty, and Angel likes both masc and femme men (or men-adjacent nb people like Reader), Angel decides words aren't enough and takes them shopping as a surprise (with Husk as a "pack mule" pretending to complain) and deliberately picks femme stuff that Reader would look gorgeous in. Somewhere in there, "pretty boy" gets added to the nickname roster.
