Smite au
OK, here web go
También RWBY
Ruby: Mercury becouse of her semblance and becouse in game Mercury have speed abilities.
Weiss: Merlín becouse the mage could teach her how to use and control her glyphs.
Blake: Bastet becouse she and the godess are cats and can bond over cats things.
Yang: Bellona becouse she is the godess of war and I picture her and Yang having the same desair of a good fight.
Team JNPR
Jaune: King Arthur becouse both of them are héroes of their history.
Nora: Thor, lightning semblance and lightning god.
Pyrra:I Know you chose Athena for her but I think Achiles is better pick (Pyrra represent Achiles in RWBY).
Ren: Ganesha, I picture them meditating and helping others Witherspoon their powers (Ganesha isnthe god of success).
If you are going to add the others teams an villains i am going to send you a part 2.
I like it so far. However i will say for merlin, arthur, & Achilles aren't technically deities, but mortal chanpions held in high regards. Essentially, they'd be resurrected to help train, teacher, & motivate the beacon crew.
Oddly enough, for ruby i was gonna do neith cause they both seem liked they be very hyperactive together. But mercury works better
Weiss i haven't though of one yet. But looking at the mage Roster, its gonna be between
Eset , goddess of magic (still a high chance)
Persephone, queen of the underworld
Blake & yang are fine. Already had those two goddess set for them.
Jaune....i choose hades, no idea why. But he might get horus, or i may keep hades as his guardian. If i do keep hades for jaune, i have a fun scene which he & cardin get into. That and his family having wholesome moments with cerberus
Nora was gonna be possessed by, freya queen of valkyries, and thor goes to taiyang.
Pyrrha was the interesting one. Cause in the AU, athena & bellona wanted to possess Pyrrha, but we beaten to it by amaterasu due to her kinda and some what pure nature. Leading her to be the mother figure of there troop.
Ganesha works for ren. I was gonna choose hou yi.
________________________________________
As for the other teams and villians here's the pitch.
Sun= sun wukong (for obvious reasons)
Sage= sobek maybe
Scarlet= work in progress
Neptune= poseidon. Namely cause poseidon forces Neptune in water alot, constantly reminds of his namesake
Coco = serqet. They both have a tendency to love fashion.
Fox: maybe tsukuyomi. Still open to change
Yatsuhashi = guan yy
Velvet = Chang'e obvious reasons
Cardin = zeus, namely because zeus loikes looking powerful, and cardin offers that (note cardin won't be a complete douche, but still kinda a douche)
Russel = maybe loki or not in this
Dove = wip or not gonna be featured
Sky = wip or not gonna be featured
Cinder = originally gonna be hel, but will change to sol or izanami
Emerald = maybe awilix or da ji, for her illusions
Mercury = chernobog
Neo= was gonna be izanami, but probably change to hel
Adam= susano, obvious reasons
Sienna=kali
Ilia = wip
Qrow = thanatos
Taiyand = thor previously mentioned
Raven=nemesis
Goodwitch = possibly anthena since she's a teacher. Or Nox or hera. Still subject to change
Port= odin for his love of the hunt
Oobleck=thoth obvious reasons
Ironwood = vulcan or tyr
Ozpin= Kronos, obvious reasons
Hazel= maybe atlas, cabrakan, or ravana. Subject to change
Watts = wip
Tyrian =bakasura. For reasons to be explained
Salem = the morrigan
Other characters are available from the rwby verse, but haven't put much thought into them honestly. So and suggestions work adrian is getting the powers of cupid. I will not argue this, for now

Are we talking about cats or a baby?
One-Shot
Trigger Warning: None
Disclaimer: Characters belongs to Sarah J. Maas.
Summary: When Helion appears with two kittens in their house, Rhysand doesn't receive it very well.
Notes: It was inspired on my dad's relationship with our cat kkkkkkkk. Enjoy the reading!!
“You did what?!” Rhysand exclaimed in the middle of the living room.
The sun was almost hiding itself behind the trees, some of its rays still could pass through the leaves and hit right in the big windows of the room where Rhysand was trying to not scream. Inside, the ambient was so comfy and cozy that whoever had picked the furniture made it with an excellent taste.
“But, baby, they were alone and sad. Tell me, how could I let them alone in this freezing cold?” Helion rebated, holding two little forms in his big arms.
“What cold, Helion, we’re in spring!” Rhys looked flatly to his boyfriend, who was visibly trying to not laugh. Helion knew how Rhys would react to this, although he also knew how he would like them.
Them was; two beautiful and cute kittens that Helion somehow found when he was picking some plants to his experiment. The littler one had a black fur and deep-blue eyes. When Helion putted his eyes on the little creature he could not to let to remember about his lover. The other, Helion thought to be a male, had a white fur, but with some black spots here and there. Helion thought them to be the cutest thing in the world. Of course, right after his boyfriend sleeping opened-mouth.
“I know we are in spring, my moonlight, but they’re babies and babies need home and some parental figure, if not they’ll be cold!” Helion said before heading to the couch where he left the two little cats with a blanket around them. “You’re an example of that with that father of yours— Oh, look! Look how cute they are!! I think I’ll name the black one as Rhysie.”
“Wait— What? You can’t. You won’t —Helion?!” But Rhys stopped arguing, because his lover was going to the kitchen to pick the bottle of milk that was inside the icebox —a magical device to conserve food. Rhysand was feeling exasperated “Helion, listen to me, god damned!”
Abruptly, Helion turned back to Rhys, who almost collided with him. Helion hold Rhys shoulders and gave him a too-well-known look and a light smile in his face. “Why can’t we have cats, Rhysie?”
“It’s not that we can’t. It’s that you brought two cats here without my opinion!” Rhys contested holding Helion’s shoulders too. They were like that, holding each other’s shoulder, Helion smirking to Rhys and Rhys with furrowed brows to Helion.
“So, it’s ok to have two cute little kitties here!” Helion kissed the tip of Rhysand’s nose before putting milk in a baby bottle that Rhys had no idea where it was from. He got so astonished that, for a second, he forgot what was going on. Helion could be a little… chaotic sometimes.
“Wait!” Rhysand screamed before following his lover. “I didn’t say that—”
“I can’t believe I’m living with someone who doesn’t like animals.” Helion rolled his eyes with exaggerated gestures and sat beside where the cats were cutely snuggled. It made Helion’s heart to warm up a little.
“Of course, I like animals, I’m with you, don’t I?” The joke was awful, Rhysand knew that, but the desire to annoy his lover was bigger. He didn’t mind that Helion hadn’t wanted his opinion anymore.
“Oh, fuck you!” Helion said looking to the cats to ignore Rhys’s face “At least it is better to be an animal with a warm and big heart than a soulless with a questionable character like you!”
“Soulless with a questionable character?” Rhysand laughed. “Love, I thought we had got through that.”
“Well, maybe now you’re showing your true face saying that you don’t want two helpless babies here!” He pointed to the kitties who were now fighting for the baby bottle. He wished he could had found the mother of them, but he searched, searched, searched and didn’t find her. It was the ultimatum to bring those little home.
“I didn’t say that either—” Rhys tried to contest.
“And seriously how can someone like you to be my beloved. I must have a very big heart indeed!”
“Your beloved?” Rhys said slyly behind the couch and putted his arms around Helion’s shoulders.
“Unfortunately!”
“You love me” Rhys whispered, his arms going to Helion’s chest while he let some kisses in his neck. “And I love you” with that, Helion couldn’t handle. Even if it was annoying, he loved when Rhys uses to ignore his drama and distract him with kisses and lovely words.
“Not in front of the kids, Rhys” Helion seriously sighed, but Rhys knew the joke that it was and let loose a light laugh before turning Helion’s face to kiss him, deeply and lovely.
***
It is not like Rhysand doesn’t like animals. He likes it, but far away from him. He has already a lot of things which were more important than to take care of nasty creatures that would only waste his free time. And now, apparently, Helion’s free time too, as it wasn’t enough to reconcile being two heir of different courts.
“Oh, Rhysand, seriously?!” Mor exclaimed, putting her hands in her hips. The tray of tea that she brought was already on the table between him and his brother Cassian. “You’re a soulless with a questionable character, indeed. It’s just a cat and they’re very cute!”
“Mor is right” Cassian said, putting an arm around Mor who have just sat. “They’re kind of cute and it’s not like you’re going to take all the responsibility, Helion will be there to help you”
“Kind of cute? Nah, I remember those cats who used to steal my food, enter in the cabin, sleep on my clothes, which by the way were full of fur. I doubt that they are going to be cute.” Rhys argued. He still remembers the hard time that it was to take off all the little white furs from his black clothes.
“Ok, but are we talking about cats or a baby?” Azriel quietly asked from Rhys’ side. The shadowsinger as always was with his usual semblance, although Rhys could feel the humor leaning on him.
“Don’t compare a baby with a cat!”
“Az is right, you’re taking this too seriously, Rhys. Relax, see how it’s going to work and don’t let the trauma make a bad memory of those lovely animals!” Mor teased with a fake serious expression, getting a laugh from Cass and Azriel.
“Oh, because it wasn’t you how had to take all the pile of fur to look presentable. My clothes were awful in that time”
“Well, that’s why I had a dog, a fox, that couple of mice and an owl... you remember Athena, don’t you?” Mor said, her mind far away.
“I do, she was amazing. May she rest in peace.” Cassian said and made a religious gesture. He and Morrigan used to send letters through Athena to each other, usually silly and dirty letters.
“By the way” Mor kept “When we will meet your babies?”
“Never” Rhys answerd.
But when he got home and saw his lover sleeping faintly in the bed with the two kitties curled on him, Rhys couldn’t think a bad thing about those cute little things, even more because Helion was glowing slightly. The glow that Rhys knew very well that was from a genuine happiness.
Rhys tiptoed to the bed and lied beside Helion’s side and hugged him, trying to not wake up him and the cats. But before Rhys could let a soft kiss on Helion and close his eyes, he silently whispered “I love you”.
Rhysand didn’t see the smile that formed in Helion’s face.

Let’s talk about M.
aka Yavien is theorizing about two reveals of latest isssues, HEAVY SPOILERS (AND ONE SMALL FMA SPOILER) AHEAD UNDER THE CUT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
First of all, Mimir, and who is he in relation to Pantheon and Minerva. Just like Minerva he seems to be a young teenage wisdom deity. We used to think that there was usually a young goddess of wisdom in each pantheon, and afaik - 1920 had little Minerva girl, there was a Minerva in 455 (we know nothing of their age), but she was unlikely in 1831, which had 11/12 gods revealed, including another bird wisdom deity - Thoth (Θώθ).
But what if it’s Mimir who is the token young god/wisdom god? And then, who is Minerva in the grand scheme of things, especially after last page reveal?
I have two theories.
First, suggested by @myfirstsearchengine is that we witness original Ananke who transfer. It makes me think of one of my fav polish YA books (”Felix, Net i Nika oraz trzecia kuzynka” for my lovely polish followers), where eponymous heroes spend their winter holidays in a creepy guesthouse led by three cousins. To spoil the finale, the cousins are psychic and the power of the rocks and caves under the guesthouse amplifies their abilities. And thanks to the rock they were able to transfer their consciences to younger bodies to live longer for a while. And yes, they kidnap psychic Nika because one of them is in need of a quick transfer due to spine damage. And Ananke using mysterious machine/mysterious caves/whatever else in the Rising Action finale to get a Mini backup sounds similar.
The second option:
Yeah, seeing a little lovely and cute kid will kill our suspicions, right? They are obviously who they claim to be and they can’t know of the evil plan of their evil caretaker, let alone be their accomplice, right?
Right? (Sorry for the small FMA spoiler, I couldn’t resist myself. Y’all better read/watch it now)
This theory would work even better if we assumed that Minerva isn’t Minerva, but an other deity (as it was with Nergal). It could kill the suspicions of academics who know possible existing patterns re: child/wisdom gods in previous cycles. Also this theory would either explain why Ananke paid so much attention to Mini from the very start or who was the addressee of the mysterious letter. Now Mini could either be introduced to the plan from the very beginning or she could get the directions via the pink glitter mail (im more fond of the second option). It would explain why the Great Darkness had its interest in Mini in particular after Ananke’s death and why we feel she had a bit of change in behaviour in Imperial Phase in particular. You loose three of your caretakers AND you’re now supposed to be in charge of the Killing Teenagers For The Greater Good business? This also leads me to believe that Mini will go after the Morrigan specifically, as Minerva has reasons to hold a grudge agains the Triple Queen (not to mention we haven’t seen her in a long time). Also, the mysterious cave once again made me think of what Homunculi were up to in FMA, but as you’ve seen it’s just because I am a big fan who has already looked for visual clues.
Other than these two, I have no more plausible theories. But I’d love to discuss what you think!
BONUS POINT: crap, i forgot to add that owl is not only symbol of Minerva/Athena, but also apparently of Hecate, goddess of magic. Good pick for a caretaker of a magical perennial event.

ALL THE MYTHOLOGY ASK BINCH
i can’t believe this is from a month ago lol
Anubis: How do you feel about death?- I’m not quite sure you know. i don’t think anything happens after, which makes being suicidal all the time a little easier. i just feel like everything stops. like you literally just go to sleep forever, at least one would hope. losing people though it really fucking sucks and is rly hard trauma to come to terms w.
Atum: What are your greatest imperfections?- I’m a fat obese binch w no fucking self control, next
Bastet: Do you have any cats?- no bc I’m deathly allergic, but i wish i could
Hathor: What brings you joy?- lmao at my old answer for this. sandy, I love her so so so much. she licked my tears away today which I know may seem gross but was p therapeutic and it helped and then i napped. i need to finish her emotional support registration bc i can’t imagine my life without her now
Horus: What is one thing you’ve had to fight for in your life?- every single fucking thing. i had to fight to go to college, fight to move out, fight to be treated like an equal to my peers, fight for simple material shit like a car and comfortable enough place. fight and work for love so so so hard. i wish i had just ONE (1)! thing come easy to me. i was kinda bright growing up but that’s about it?
Osiris: Do you believe in the underworld?- i do ship hades and persephone all the fucking way, have that pomegranate and get ya mans girl rule that underworld and be the best mom cerberus will ever know
Ra: Do you have any major responsibilities or importance?- just to pay my bills on time and not die or starve. show up to work every day, and take rly rly rly rly good care of my dog, i spoil her i know i do and i know it’s bad but i need it and you can tell she didn’t come from a god home before so she deserves it
Thoth: Do you like to read/write?- i love it, i really genuinely do. i just don’t have that kind of energy anymore THOUGH the few times i do it’s so fuckin therapeutic and i feel brand new
Arawn: What is the most terrifying thing you’ve ever done?- i guess pick up and move across the state on my own, TWICE. falling in love w my gf is a close second, as is my relationship before that bc i was fucking terrified both times. first was fear of the unknown and fear of something so new, and now was.. fear of the same, as well as.. fear of being uncomfortable, fear of starting over.. and not just my love life but every other aspect of my life as well. it felt like i picked up and threw out the whole (previous) relationship. not in an “idc” sense, but i couldn’t bear to be in same apt, the same job, the same spaces whatsoever. it was terrifying to keep living afterward. everything else ive done has just been shit i thought i had to do to get by. not confront abusers, work hard for literally ANYTHING i wanted, etc. sidenote, i also went through a rly bad reckless behavior bpd phase and some of the things i did were very unlike me and slightly terrifying in retrospect. i feel like it was me trying to take control of something, ANYTHING, but still didn’t work.
Bran: How is your health?- physically, shit; mentally, shit. lmao. i can confidently say i am working on both though
Brighid: Tell us about your relationship with your father.- it has had its fair share of ups and downs. my father raised me as a single dad and he was great at it. i had birthday parties, i had the books, shoes, toys i wanted - even if it meant waiting a little more than everyone else bc my dad worked hard and only made so much for us both. my dad having to do all that came totally left field for him i imagine and he fucking rose to the occasion. somewhere down the line he did begin to resent my mother and i when she wandered back around, and i know he didn’t like that i chose her every time even though she paid me no mind and he was a doting parent. i went a couple years without talking to either of my parents, but we’re all actually pretty good now. my mom has made up for a lot and she’s not perfect bt she’s still trying and i can say the same for my dad as well
Cernunnos: What is your favorite animal?- pandas, otters, and puppies are god tier. koalas, giraffes, hedgehogs (no sonic), and chinchillas are also up there
Danu: What is your relationship with your mother?- i guess you can read above.. but basically it was shit before and now we get along but I don’t tell her anything you know. she still thinks I’m straight, a virgin, and have never had one (1) alcohol, deadass. however, she’s still comforting? I wanted her to stay longer this weekend, I felt she’d help me hold it together even if I couldn’t tell her what was wrong
Morrigan: What do you think happens when we die?- first question. but basically you slip into a comfortable coma
Olwen: What is your favorite flower?- sunflowers
Rhiannon: Have you ever been betrayed?- I have felt betrayed before, yes. sidenote i hate that this is Rhiannon.
Bragi: What kind of music do you listen to?- just about everything but fuck country music. maroon 5’s new album is rly good
Freya: Have you ever been in love?- yes i have and this shit has hurt every single fucking time, lol. and it always feels like it can never hurt more, but each time has been infinitely worse than the previous for me
Freyr: Do you have any children?- my daughter, sandy
Hœnir: Are you a silent or talkative person?- silent. I hardly talk, I’m not rly verbal, though when I have to front like I am I’m pretty good at it. but if it were up to me I wouldn’t talk at all. though there times (especially when manic) that i can go on and on and on. that was rly easy w my bf before and helped as far as better developing how to express myself verbally/communicating in general
Iounn: How old are you?- can we not talk about my age and the existential crisis I have every time I think of it, thanks
Loki: What is the best trick you’ve ever pulled on someone?- i don’t really pull tricks and shit like that
Odin: What is your family like?- nonexistent
Thor: Would you consider yourself pretty powerful?- i am A WEAK BINCH!!!!!
Tree: What have you done with your life? What are you going to do with it?- I haven’t done much of anything. I just want to make money, pay off debts, own some pets, live comfortably.. be skinny
Aphrodite: What do you think of yourself?- I don’t think much of myself which has been identified as such a grande problem by others & by those who actively validate that so…
Ares: Are you an easy person to anger?- I wouldn’t think that I am, but it doesn’t take much for me to split on someone
Athena: Would you consider yourself an artist?- not much of one anymore
Apollo: Do you play any instruments?- piano, bassoon, sax, bass clarinet, french horn/mellophone
Dionysus: Do you drink?- I like red wine & henny
Hades: Do you have a bad reputation?- i sure fucking do now bitch
Hekate: Have you ever tried to communicate with the dead?- caucasian activities bruh
Hermes: Have you ever stolen anything?- walmart self checkout more like optional check out you feel me
Poseidon: Are you a moody person?- hi, i have bpd. (no this isn’t me justifying any behavior or whatever, but it quite literally is the reason why I’m “”””””””moody”””””””)
Zeus: Are you a confident person?- fuck no, next. i mean okay, i can be, fake confident, and i used to really have an air of confidence about me befroe but no longer do and it saddens me. petition to bring back 2k14 claudia tbh
Jupiter: Would people say that you are intimidating or fairly approachable?- I believe I’m approachable but I’ve been told I have chronic RBF and am incredibly intimidating and completely UNapproachable. my kids didn’t seem to think that when I taught though so that was cool
Pluto: Where do you think we go when we die?- i hope the underworld
Apollo & Dianna: Do you prefer to be up during the day or at night?day, i def wish i can get more done bc night is sleep time
Mars: Have you ever gotten into a fight?- both verbal and physical altercations
Minerva: Do you generally give good advice?- “dump him sis”
Proserpine: Have you ever felt trapped?- yes, mostly by my mental illness(es)
Plutus: Do you have a job?- yes, thank god
Venus: Have you ever had your heart broken?- of course, it’s broken right the fuck now binch!
Vesta: Do you like being home or do you try to get out whenever you can?- I’m a fucking SLUT for being home bitch omg. but at the same time i like traveling and getting our but i def prefer lowkey things. bookstores, wine tasting, shit like that
Morpheus: Do you daydream often? Of what?- of a lot more like having a sense of stability and whatnot. being loved completely and wholeheartedly 500% mutual healthy devotion. i want someone to invest in me

There's this weird irony, though, in that I am now basically working with The God as understood in Wicca.
In my religious nature Paganism, I'm working with a solar deity, a Horned God, and a Green Man/Hunter sort In my trad craft, I'm working with a Devil and Gwyn Ap Nudd In my western esoteric bullshit, I'm working with a Baphomet/Lucifer
I don't, or I didn't, tend towards an "all gods are one god" approach - I prefer to approach everyone seperately, but be open to the possibility that they are different aspects and faces of the same thing. Nevertheless, I am struck that I have through my separate traditions naturally come to revere Old Hornie in all his faces. And I don't think all these gods ARE one god, even now. I'm apparently just really attracted to whatever attracted our forebears to link these figures together as a single phenomenon in the first place.
Poor ole' Goddess. Sorry, Lady. I don't know what's gone wrong, but I've never known where you are or what you are like or how to reach you. I try. Sometimes, because "I need balance, and for that I have to revere the sacred feminine", and sometimes "well this looks hella misogynistic Albert, are you sure you can't just...try revering some goddesses?" but for whatever reason, The Goddess and various goddesses don't seem intuitively real, intuitively present.
(In Fencraft, I'm using the term Personal Court to refer to all the Powers one acknowledges exists - Powers being our overarching term for gods, spirits, ghosts, fairies, demons etc. Like the spiritual equivalent of a Facebook friends list - an assortment of loved ones, old friends, acquaintances, new interests, strangers and celebrities. The Personal Court includes Powers one dislikes or is afraid of, and all other mythic figures one believes on some gut level to be true, the ones you know are there. Needless to say, there are very, very few feminine things in my Personal Court, and the ones who are there are mostly there artificially i.e. these are figures I have in part "decided" exist because Jesu, Albert, do you have some kind of a problem with women or ???)
I've definitely done somewhat better with The Goddess since reading around - there's a face of her as witch, as Hekate or Morgana, which I can really get on board with. That face isn't really mentioned in Cunningham, which is where I learned my Wicca first time around.
I think a lot of the trad God faces are linked with things and roles: Horned God, Green Man, whereas visions of The Goddess are a bit more empty. Like "God" in Christianity is. Just this big hollow gap where you put everything. But Queen of the Witches, I know who that is at once, you know? Even Earth Mother, Guardian of the Holy Grail, Star Lady, etc etc etc. It's also easier to escape sexual imagery with the God - these faces have associations with death, forests, hunting, rationality, whereas Goddess figures rarely escape some sort of link with motherhood or bonking, or at least not in the Wiccan/Post-Wiccan stuff I tend to do. I guess if I went down a more hard polytheist route, there's Athena and the Morrigan and so on - there are options, just not in the traditions I'm in.
(In Fencraft, terms like Queen, Prince, Lady, Duke are preferential for Powers. Why? It gets you into the right headspace. Most people come from dominant religions with pre-ideas about what Gods are. Some of our Powers are gods, but many aren't, and mostly the relationship isn't going to be an omnipotent divine and a humble worshipper, it's more like a minor knight working for a lesser baron, or local earls drawing a truce. It encourages you to ask "this is a goddess of what specifically?")
idk maybe its just - "the sacred feminine" is comprised of ideas about women and femininity, under patriarchy all those ideas are a bit crap, hence roles for the goddess tend to be limited, and it's hard to develop new roles because society sees women-as-women-and-men-as-people, so one tends to see Generic Human Characteristics like knowledge and rationality and hunting and forests as male, but anything female has to be super-super-specifically-feminine. But there are plenty of people who work with the sacred feminine who don't have these issues and can see Her face - so maybe the problem is just me.

7 BAD - ASS CHICKS OF MYTHOLOGY
LIFESTYLE 7 BAD-ASS CHICKS OF MYTHOLOGY.
FIGHTING A BATTLE? HOOK UP WITH A WARRIOR GODDESS LIFESTYLE
WITCH APRIL 20, 2016
by Renée Damoiselle
Sometimes in life it feels like we can use a little support! We fight battles every day, don’t we?
Some of them are quite literal battles and some are more metaphorical. Whatever you’re struggling with, working on, fearing or reaching for, there is a Goddess who can help.
Set forth below are brief descriptions of 7 Warrior Goddesses and the reasons you might want to work with them. If you can’t seem to find your own power in any given situation, borrow a bit from one of these amazing Ladies. I’ll give you some tips on how to do that.
But first, let’s get down a few basics.
When I say “working with a goddess” (or working with any deity for that matter), what I’m talking about is building a relationship with that entity.
Whether you believe the gods and goddesses to be actual autonomous supernatural entities or simply believe these mythologies represent psychological archetypes, they can be extremely useful to you in your endeavors.
Alright. If you’re going to do battle, you need a few rules of engagement.
The first thing I’m going to lay on you, my witchy friends, is some really powerful shit. Magic Words. Yup, You need some specific Magic Words to deal with deity.
When I teach this subject in person, I usually put the question out to the crowd. “What are the Magic Words?” … Usually the response is … crickets.
If there is an audience member under the age of 10 and if I prod enough, generally that child will eventually raise her hand and say… “um… Please and Thank You?” YES Little magical child! Yes! Please and Thank You!
The point is, we approach deity with respect and gratitude. We are building relationships here, asking favors. It’s a little different from what most Americans normally think of as prayer. It’s not one-sided. Remember that and you’ll be alright.
Also, the Goddesses set forth below all have very rich mythologies and there are differing opinions on what mythologies apply to them and what may have been more recently made up or blended with other deities. PLEASE, do some research!
This quick overview is intended to give you some idea of which goddesses you may want to work with.
It is not intended as the final word. If you find yourself attracted to a particular warrior based on these descriptions, then get more information on her. Do your research with a sincere desire to get to know her in your heart. This will move you forward in your relationship.
I’m going to give you some basic ideas about offerings, altar spaces and ritual practice. Experiment with these things. There is no hard and fast right or wrong in these practices. You will slowly get to know these entities and how they communicate with you! If you approach with respect and sincerity you will be well received.
And before we get into the goddess stories, I want to offer you one more word about requesting the presence of the goddess for your ritual, prayer, meditation or offering.
You can invoke a deity by requesting its presence and lighting a candle and paying attention to the energies around you. This implies inviting the goddess IN from somewhere else (her own realm, I guess). And this is fine.
But you’d do well – and, I believe, find yourself much more empowered in the long run, to EVOKE the goddess. This is the practice of bringing her into your presence from where she truly resides…. Inside of you!
“If that which thou seekest, thou findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without.” ~ Doreen Valiente.
If you’re not familiar with that quote… please – do yourself a huge favor and Google it. You will not be disappointed.
And now… on to our Goddesses!
1. Athena
Do you need a great strategy for your battle? An intellectual approach? Do you need to curb those emotions? Athena might be the Lady for you. I think she’s perfect for someone going through a divorce or other court battle.
The Greek goddess, Athena, is usually portrayed as one of the most benevolent goddesses. “Athena – Goddess of Wisdom” is known for her superb logic and intellect.
A supreme strategist, She helped Perseus defeat the Gorgon. She is always on the side of the Hero trying to accomplish the impossible.
If Athena were to wear a button on her …. well, her breast-plate, it would read “Keep Calm and Reason On!”
If you are on a hero’s quest or in need of cool-headed assessment of a battle …. Athena is the lady to call upon. Honor her with images of owls, shields and spears, also with artisanal creations including writing, weaving and metal-craft. Her candle should be royal blue or gold.
2. The Morrigan
While Athena keeps us detached and calculating, there is no doubt that sometimes a bit of a fierce, powerful, passionate rage is what is called for.
Are you a bit “Goth”? Do images of ravens appeal to you. Do you LOOOOVE to wear all black? This Celtic goddess might be for you. The Morrigan is definitely a witch’s goddess. She’s all about magic and spell-craft and getting what you want.
She’s been known by many names including (but not limited to) Morrigu, Morgain, Morgan, Lady of the Lake.
Our dear Morrigan embodies the phrase, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” She is known for endurance and fierceness in battle. Among her magical talents are shape-shifting and prophecy.
If the Morrigan were to wear a button on her breastplate it would read, “Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.”
If you are drawn to the Morrigan’s power, honor her with images of crows, ravens, bones and blood. Her candle should be black or red.
3. Brigid
There are so many issues that this goddess can help with, it’s difficult to boil them down. Are you an activist? A medical professional? A poet? A blacksmith? A mother who has suffered the loss of a child?
See what I mean? Brigid’s mythology covers such a broad spectrum of life experiences that she can almost suit anyone at any time in their lives.
Brigid, sometimes called Brighd, Bride, Brid, is the Celtic Lady of the Flames: As the warrior she embodies the concept of Fire in so many ways encompassing the other elements as well.
She is often associated with the Forge and metal-craft (Fire meets earth). In this aspect, she can help with the process of the “Self-forge”. This concept compares the trials and difficulties of life with the smithing of weaponry.
The blade of a sword is repeatedly plunged into the fire and heated almost to the point of destruction and then plunged into water to cool. This process is called tempering and it strengthens the blade. Call upon Brigid if you’re going through the fire.
Brigid is also seen as a compassionate healer (Fire meets water). She was said to have talent with herbal healing.
In her aspect as inspiration for poets and writers (Fire meets air) she can help you finish a book or give you inspiration for the lyrics for your next hit song.
In any endeavor Brigid can provide the passion to remain steadfast and perseverant in your quest.
If Brigid were to wear a button on her breastplate it would read, “All Fired Up!”
To honor her, use poetry or anything hand crafted. Images of serpents, calves and ewes are also appropriate. Her candle should be purple.
To help with your research, I highly recommend this wonderful, in-depth book about Brigid, if you are interested in working with her: Brigid: History, Mystery and Magick of the Celtic Goddess by Courtney Weber
4. Sekhmet
Do you fear the label, “bitch”, so often applied to feminists and strong women? Do you need to be more assertive? Or, alternatively, do you claim that persona and wear it proudly? Are you on the battlefield of today’s feminist movement?
Sekhmet, the Egyptian lioness goddess might just be for you. Her name means “Powerful”. Fierce and gracious, regal and deadly, She embodies the traits of instinct, temper, death & destruction. Sekhmet’s breath represented a hot desert wind, and her body was the glare of the midday sun.
She was called “The Great Harlot” in the Book Of Revelations because she represents that aspect of the limitless power in women that terrifies patriarchy! She is the bitch to embrace! Don’t deny her or her aspect of yourself.
If Sekhmet were to wear a button on her breastplate, it would read, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of my desert!”
If you recognize something of yourself in this goddess, honor her with images of Lions, the sun, blood and pomegranate flavored beer. Her candle should be golden/tan (like the color of a lion or the golden desert) or blood red.
5. Durga
Are you battling something that appears to be insurmountable? Have you already approached the enemy from a variety of angles to no avail? You may want to call on Durga.
One of my students recently pointed out that Durga is the goddess of the right tool for the job. And she is! With a thousand arms and a different weapon in each, Durga can vanquish any demon, even a shape-shifting one!
Her mythology puts her at the very height of the Hindu pantheon.
Durga was formed by the concentrated will of all the existing gods. They created her in response to a demon they could not destroy, which threatened their utter destruction… so naturally, they created a GoddESS to take care of it! She cannot be defeated.
If Durga were to wear a button on her breastplate, it would read, “Whatever Doesn’t Kill Me Better Run!”
Honor her with images of lotus flowers, lions or tigers, anything golden, bright and reflective. Her candle should be white and multiple wicked!
6. Freya
Teachers, witches learning spell-craft, would be seductresses, you may hear the call of the lovely Freya.
Freya, sometimes Freyja, is the Norse Queen of The Valkyries – entitled to half of the fallen heroes on the battlefield.
She taught the spell-craft of the Runes to the Gods, including Odin. Freya’s mythology includes tales of her irresistible beauty. Her mythology includes tales of unbridled sexuality and even stories which depict her trading sexual favors for a particularly powerful talisman.
The goddess Freya reminds us to explore and acknowledge all of our emotions, longings, and traits, even those we wish we didn’t possess. If you love Aphrodite and/or Venus – but want a strong warrior essence along with the love aspect…Freya is a great choice.
If Freya wore a button on her breastplate, it would read, “No Regrets!”
She follows heart… who cares what others think? Do you need this? Honor her with Flowers and Music (as she SO values beauty!) Amber and Gold, images of falcons or cats … (a pair of blue lynx drew her chariot!) Her candle should be the color of passion! Red!
7. Kali
Are you ready to get real with yourself? Doing some Shadow work, or simply trying to uncover some deep truth in your own nature? If you are NOT into coddling, Kali may be your lady.
Kali is equated with the eternal night, as the transcendent power of time, so named because she devours kala (time) and then resumes her own dark formlessness. Kali represents the “enfolded order” in modern physics. She is the formless void, yet full of potential.
Her frightening depictions are misleading, because she brings liberation from shadow, which is the highest form of compassion. The goddess of tough love, Kali is in your face, but on your side. She can provide you with courage to face the truth and also to release yourself from the false self – the ego.
If Kali wore a button on her breastplate (well.. actually, on her necklace of skulls) – it would read, “The truth shall set you free; but first, it will piss you off!”
Honor her with images of skulls, swords or dance in her honor (a frenzied, ecstatic type of dance). Her candle and altar should be black.
There you have it, warriors of the world! Now go forth and be Bad-Ass, with a little help from the Ladies here!
