Chat I'm gonna ramble
I have multiple hyperfixations that every once in a while I think "oh I'm getting normal about this now I think" and suddenly I'm BLASTED with the knowledge that I'm, in fact, not normal about it AT ALL
So this is a list of things I'm normal about until I'm not normal about, for fun
I spend like from a week to a month being EXACTLY the image above, to the point where even >I< get tired of hearing me talk about something
Danganronpa, unfortunately. Resurfaces at least once a year, and so far it's happened 3 times around my birthday. I don't think I can break the curse and I've stopped trying
Steven Universe, but specifically ALL the Ruby and Sapphire appearances. I can binge ONLY the episodes where they appear and sometimes the ones leading up to it for the full impact. That's why my Kavetham Rupphire crossover exists.
Genshin Impact hasn't gone anywhere since I got into it, I never had the chance to think I was normal about it. But every once in a while I might think I'm normal about Enkanomiya, The Chasm, Perilous Trail or Guizhong and I get SLAPPED by my own insanities
HSR but specifically the Xianzhou Luofu continuances from 2.4 and 2.5. I am ABNORMAL about the Yaoqing Trio, I am ABNORMAL about Lingsha, I am ABNORMAL about the transition from Dan Feng to Dan Heng in the shackling prison
Ordem Paranormal as a whole. Since Natal Macabro released I haven't been able to let go of it. I can't do anything without thinking "what if I inserted the NM cast into this". I binged the ending of Desconjuração this week. I watched two whole episodes in one day, and MIND YOU. THE EPISODES ARE 4 HOURS LONG.
Like two months ago I got beamed with Akame Ga Kill thoughts. Chat. It was so much worse than all the other times. I lost track of how many times I watched this anime since 2017. This time I only intended to watch a couple of the episodes, yk "the fun ones" (where my faves die) and ended up watching THE ENTIRE ANIME. In two days. I did not come out of it with my sanity intact. And this time I absorbed even more plot points that I had missed the other days and I was even more analytical of the characters and chat. Chat I don't think I can recover from this one. The Run thoughts come back to me every time I open my gallery. Ohhhhhh vaguely androgynous blonde man with good intentions but questionable actions who is the normalest person in his group and has angel imagery despite having a LOW ASS V NECK that shows a considerable amount of his chest save meeeee. Save me small pink girl with a gun double her size and trauma that turns into motivation. Save me lady who killed a guy with her bare fists with no power back up while she was dying from several gun wounds and also bit into a guy's blade with her teeth and it was literally so attractive I physically had to stop and gush over it because I'm attracted to beautiful and strong women.
This was not my intention but I think that last point is a very good example. I am, in fact, not normal about it. I literally thought a few hours ago "huh maybe I should delete some of these AGK skins, I don't use them a lot" past me I have news and I think you won't like them ...

I’m working on a robot character, and I wanted to know if it’s at all inappropriate to have the character (named Blip, uses he/it pronouns) have the “robot equivalent” of a traumatic brain injury and acquired facial differences, if that makes sense?
As it’s planned right now, he has one broken “eye” (kind of a camera lens) that no longer processes visual input, a damaged antenna and internal processor that sometimes misreads incoming signals leading to confusion, and a staticky slur to his speech (its voice would otherwise sound like a generic Siri-type thing, but it occasionally breaks into static). It also has visible damage to the side of its face with the broken eye. (Not a dented-in head, though, because I have a feeling that would conjure up ableist caricatures of brain injuries and I want to avoid that).
I just want to check if any of that sounds offensive, or if you have input on how to represent these features better. Thank you!
Hey! I'll answer for the part related to the facial difference and leave the brain injury to other mods.
Honestly this sounds fine to me. Just on the basis of this being a robot character named Blip, which seems quite silly (positive) and I enjoy seeing characters with FDs who aren't dead-serious and joyless all the time. The fact that he's not human (or even too humanoid, from the description) also helps since a lot of the negative tropes specifically affect how real humans are seen, if you're portraying an anthropomorphized computer then that's just very different. I don't think anyone would see a real person without an eye and think of a robot which avoids the entire "ableds think it's normal to compare a burn survivor they saw in the grocery store to Freddy Krueger" problem, even if you do end up falling into a trope with this character.
Definitely a good call in avoiding the indented skull* since the way it's generally used is a caricature and a borderline dogwhistle at this point. If you want to show that there was some sort of injury on the side of Blip's head, you could give him a different colored-metal plate there (or whatever else it's made out of), or give it a shiny texture to contrast with the rest of him being matte, make the damaged part thicker, etc. If his eye was damaged and is camera-like, you could have the shutter not close, or not move, or otherwise work differently from the other one (that's how my own ptosis would translate into a robot character... I think).
*Craniotomy, craniectomy, congenital cranial conditions, these are all real things that real people have and live with, so this isn't to say that this is always a no-go, because it's not. However, one needs to be very careful and sensitive to represent it respectfully due to what I originally mentioned. I'd strongly advise going with a sensitivity reader if that's something anyone reading this would want to include in their writing or art, and this aspect should be taken under consideration from the starting concept of the character.
For last advice, I'd try to not describe him "broken" as a whole if you're trying to represent him as disabled, since the whole "disabled people are broken". Not that it's wrong to refer to a body part like a leg or an eye as broken if one wants to do that; I mean referring like that to the entire person (or robot). I mention it since it's a common thing when it comes to robot fiction etc. but might come off weird in the context of an obviously disabled one.
I hope this helps,
mod Sasza
Hello,
As the human brain is basically a computer and our brain injuries are basically damage to that computer that changes how to computer functions, having a robot character with a TBI is a fairly easy thing to do. Damage to a human's sensory cortex (part of the cerebrum, one of three main parts of the brain) can cause sensory symptoms like the ones you're describing. This damage would be in his equivalent of the parietal lobe, which uses the information provided by external senses to navigate and have spacial sense, the temporal lobe, which has the auditory cortex and also helps with processing visual input and doing things like speech and reading, or the optical lobe, which is responsible for visual processing. If you'd like your character to have a more human brain in structure, you can look into other abilities that might be affected. But you can also just design his brain however you want it to be designed and that works, too, since he has a reason for his brain not being accurate to a human's brain.
Slurred speech is definitely a symptom that can come of a traumatic brain injury, especially a brain injury to the temporal lobe, and what he has also kind of sounds like a stutter or maybe him trailing off, which can also be issues we get.
And yes, I agree with Sasza about the dented head, definitely a good thing to avoid. If you want, you could incorporate a metal plate implanted on his "skull," which is a medical treatment for certain types of skull injuries to prevent complications and also to give the skull a more normal shape, which is called a cranioplasty.
Everything sounds good on the traumatic brain injury front

“The strings are wrapped around you,” or, a discussion about Truthless Recluse, Pure Vanilla, and an idea of an awakening
One of the things I’ve been hung up on ever since finishing A Game of Truth and Deceit’s story is the fact that the things Truthless Recluse says does not feel exactly in character for Pure Vanilla. I’m sure this is the point. You’re supposed to get that feeling out of hearing him, Gingerbrave even directly points it out.
So, other than the corruption, why the so sudden change? Why is he suddenly turning against everyone? And most importantly, how is he supposed to get out of it?
Or, a CRK analysis/theory of sorts regarding Beast-Yeast episode 7, as well as how episode 8 might go, split into sections below the cut.
1 - An Introduction
I will start off by saying that before this update came out, I was one of the people adamant that Pure Vanilla was not going to end up corrupted. Not because I didn’t want anything bad to happen to him, but because I couldn’t see a reason why.
For as much as Shadow Milk could break him, dig into his biggest fears and insecurities and make them appear real, there wasn’t a reason to me for him to suddenly turn against everyone on his own— not when those around him had consistently helped him, bringing him out of what might have been the worst dips of his bad mental state. Not unless Shadow Milk was able to really manipulate him into it.
Then again, I knew what Shadow Milk could do. I knew he could control the will of other cookies (seen with the faerie cookies), and disguise himself in another form (see: every time he impersonates the Light of Truth). I also knew Pure Vanilla would be vulnerable to him, both with the bad mental state, and by the fact that the first time they encountered each other, he was already struggling. The right strings being pulled could just make him snap.
And then, I saw Truthless Recluse. And I lost my mind.
So, the point of all this. I had been TERRIFIED before this update how Pure Vanilla would fall. I thought he’d have his sense of self broken, all his emotions toyed with, sure, but I wasn’t ready for a FULL CORRUPTION. Then I got to thinking: it’s been a pattern this happens, right? In the Ancient vs Beast chapters, they encounter each other, fight in some way, and the Ancient somehow loses their connection to their respective Light. They only awaken after, picking themself back up from the brink of defeat. And we already know Awakened Pure Vanilla exists, so that leaves the question: how do you help him? How does he come back from where he is now? How does he awaken if he’s already been “defeated?”
That’s what I’m here to discuss.
2 - The Spider-Man meme problem
So! Fortune Teller. That guy.
Almost everyone I saw took one look at him in the trailers and KNEW he was Pure Vanilla. Had to be. The voice was the same, appearance the same, motifs the same, the character design was a pretty big giveaway. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, yknow. It’s probably a duck.
And that presumption was right! Fortune Teller is Truthless Recluse, and by extension, Pure Vanilla.
How can that happen, though? If Pure Vanilla talks directly to Fortune Teller, how can they be the same? Luckily, the game decides to answer this question on its own!
Tumblr media
So, if this is a space the future of the past (the present) and the future of the present (just the future) can both exist… that means Fortune Teller, and by extension, Truthless Recluse, are likely from the future. Not only because we’ve seen PV walking around in the present, but because we KNOW how TR talks about PV like he’s dead, as well as because of a fun little quote from Shadow Milk!
“In the end, you will become me.”
This is what I’m going to be building the rest of this off of. Stick with me here.
3 - What’s that, puppet boy??
Lies. Manipulation. Deceit.
These are the things Shadow Milk lives for. But any good snake, any good spider weaving a web, knows that the best lies have a hint of truth to them. This is what I intend to dissect.
It feels... a bit strange to think that Pure Vanilla could become someone like Shadow Milk. And yet, the signs are already there. He isn't honest with himself, tells white lies in the hopes that it may make someone feel better rather than the cruel truth, and his mental state is already in a horrid place. Of course, none of these are particularly bad things, they're human, and I can't blame him for any of it. But they're also all undeniably things that could lead him to snapping. What's the point doubt is all that's left? What's the point that he delves into the comfort of the lie of fantasy? What's the point that reality is too much agony to bear? Is that not how the Fount of Knowledge became the Master of Deceit, finding that cookies enjoyed the sweet lie more than the cruel truth?
“In the end, you will become me.”
And so, he just might.
So, consider. If present and future can both at once in Shadow Milk's domain, if Fortune Teller is not merely an illusion, then who's to say Truthless Recluse isn't who Pure Vanilla is destined to become?
The best lies have a shred of truth. This is our (hypothetical) truth. If nothing changes, if Pure Vanilla falls to Shadow Milk's games, lets himself be broken, plays the role he's had laid out for him ever since he was young (once again, if we choose to take that as truth and not an illusion), then his fate is sealed.
"Despair follows in your footsteps... A river lies on your path. Cross it, and you will face unfathomable dread. Turn back... Turn back before it is too late. Turn back before the cold flames of doubt swallow you whole."
That river is fast approaching, if it hasn’t already.
4 - Finding truth, breaking strings
Let's circle back to one of my first points.
"Then I got to thinking: it’s been a pattern this happens, right? In the Ancient vs Beast chapters, they encounter each other, fight in some way, and the Ancient somehow loses their connection to their respective Light. They only awaken after, picking themself back up from the brink of defeat. And we already know Awakened Pure Vanilla exists, so that leaves the question: how do you help him? How does he come back from where he is now? How does he awaken if he’s already been ‘defeated?’"
Is episode seven not still following the same formula, yet iterating on it in its own unique way? Pure Vanilla comes directly into contact with Shadow Milk, and tries to defend himself the most he can. However, he's a lot more vulnerable than the others this time around— after all, lies and truth cannot exist without the other. They're not entirely opposites. After having his sense of self shattered, Pure Vanilla falls from the Spire. Somewhere, he loses his connection to his Light of Truth. Enter: Truthless Recluse.
We know Pure Vanilla will eventually be awakened (see: dev commentary), so how does he leave the state he's in? How do you come back from falling so far?
This is where our "Truthless Recluse is a future version of Pure Vanilla" idea comes in handy! To put it simply: he hasn't become him yet. Not in reality. The present Pure Vanilla has fallen somewhere deep, deep down, into the darkest abyss... And has yet to come back. It sets a perfect scene to trick those closest to Pure Vanilla to believe the lie wrapped in truth of his ‘death,’ doesn't it?
It also solves our characterization problem from the very beginning of this post. I never said he immediately becomes Truthless Recluse. Given that in this interpretation, TR is what PV will eventually become, it provides a reason for Truthless Recluse to say the things he does, and act the way he does. Maybe Pure Vanilla wouldn’t have said or done those things, but to Truthless Recluse, that part of himself has long been dead.
So. Where does Pure Vanilla find his truth?
It could be a lot of things. However, one of the main things I've seen reiterated is just how much Shadow Milk toys with the mind. Right now, Pure Vanilla likely believes his entire life is a lie. Not once has he had free will. Since birth, he has been a marionette on strings, a plaything for a being beyond everything he ever knew. Every action, every decision, it was just part of an Oscar-worthy performance. Everything he may have once defined as himself is null.
And even worse: there's no one to drag him out of it this time. White Lily is gone, off on her own mission. Gingerbrave and his friends have Truthless Recluse to deal with. The Light of Truth is silent. Everyone, everything he may have depended on isn't there. It's just him, the Other-Realm, and eyes that have been watching for his entire lifetime.
To get out, he has to break the strings. Just as he once awoke from his prison when he needed to confront his past, he can do it again. But this time, it isn't going to be while he hides under another identity, it isn’t going to be while telling himself a lie. Outsmart the snake, remember, remember, remember. Hold onto the love, the care, the things that are true. No amount of deceit can change how he once felt. They say the heart is true. Maybe that's the key out.
To put it more simply: no matter what it ends up being that causes it, he needs to realize himself that he is in charge of his own destiny. The truth of the question "who am I" is "whoever you want to be." It isn't an question that can be answered by someone else. You only become fully truthless, only fully wall yourself away from everyone if you choose to do so. It isn't fate.
And so, in the end, I think Pure Vanilla will awaken. By proxy, if my entire idea here were to be true, Truthless Recluse would cease to exist. Paradoxes are funny that way. There's no way for that ending to exist if it's no longer the future that lies ahead.
5 - A conclusion
I have absolutely no clue what's coming in episode eight. I'll say that upfront. I have no clue, and it terrifies me. I love Pure Vanilla, I want him to make it out of this, but I know he won't make it out unscathed. The tragedy could stay, it could just be for this episode, it's unclear. We just have to wait until episode eight goes live.
Regardless, I want him to struggle. I don't think it makes sense for him to get out of this easily. Not when he considers himself pathetic, not when he can't trust the voice of the Light of Truth, not when he's been questioning himself. Let that doubt sink into him. Let him rebuild himself, piece by shattered piece. It makes for an emotional story, and makes me like Pure Vanilla even more as a character. Maybe that's just the Omori fan in me, but I love delves into characters' minds like that.
It may not be anything like what I've discussed here, but I'm very excited to see what Devsisters does. This is all I'm going to be thinking about until then.

Onyx Storm Predictions!!
I wanted to do a full theory post but the clock is TICKING and I decided to get sick last week before I could write one up, so this will have to do!
Predictions below the cut! I'm going to re-blog and re-spoiler tag with extra info from the apple books preview, so no onyx storm spoilers on THIS post.
I'm going to start off with my most controversial prediction and say that I don't think Xaden is leaving! The bond is still in place (re: end of IF) and Sgaeyl evidently still gives a fuck about him (again, re: end of IF) and so I don't think she's going to break the bond! I DO think he might try and leave, but I think Violet will stop him.
This is probably the second most controversial (at least to me) but I do think Violet might be part/half venin. I think Lilith turned when she was pregnant with Violet. I don't fully know how being part venin would even work, but we know next to nothing about how being FULL venin would work, so I'm not gonna sweat it. There's a huge theme (motif?) of being two things at once in these books (violet's hair, her eyes, her two dragons, her two signets, scribe/rider, Xaden's two signets, etc.) Further, you have Lilith's cure-investigation, and also the matter of the extreme amount of parallels between Lilith and Xaden. I think they both turned to protect Violet.
The subsect of that prediction/theory/whatever is that I don't think Xaden can drain her! If you read the fight with JFB in FW wherein Vi is "shaken by an internal force (she doesn't) understand, as though he's forcing his own power into my body, shocking me with a thousand stings of vibrating energy" while he has his hands holding her face. A couple paragraphs later, it's confirmed his eyes are red-rimmed. (Fourth Wing pages 294-295). I think this is JFB draining her to a certain degree. It HURTS Violet, he gets power, but no hand prints! I actually really wanted Xaden to leave sexy handprints on her, but in the last like 4 days I've changed my mind. I foresee a sort of vampire-esque power drinking thing!
I keep calling myself controversial but I'm going to keep doing it. My NEXT controversial take is that I don't think they're going to the isles yet! I think Vi may WANT to go to the isles, but I think she'll have to go to Poromiel first, then head to the barrens!
I think Vi's second signet is one of two things: the type of mirroring signet I used in Teach Me, or a straight up inntinnsic. Both of these are used in the throne scene, as I spelled out in that fic! I don't mind Vi being an inntinnsic*, especially since all the men in her life have a direct line into her head. I really think it's only fair if she can get back at them, IDK.
I don't think we're meeting Xaden's mom this book! I think that's book 4. But while we're talking about her, I think she has a second kid Xaden doesn't know about, and I think they'll meet this secret sibling first and it will be a moment of tenuous trust between riorgail (in that Violet will have to grapple with the possibility of him keeping secrets from her AGAIN, only to find out her isn't)
I'm saving my thoughts on who dies for the spoilery part!
I don't think Xaden is getting "Cured". I'm not entirely sure there will be a cure on a person-to-person basis, because I frankly think that defeats the purpose of the metaphor.
This MAY be a book 4 thing, but I'm going to add it here anyway! My IRL bestie and I talk a lot about how the story of the 3 brothers here is the Deathly Hallows reborn, and we've been joking about how Violet must gather said hallows to defeat Voldemort etc. However, we joked about it a little too much, and now I'm convinced: at some point, Vi will be the dragon rider, the gryphon flier, and the venin
OR: Mira is the gryphon rider* and Brennan's the venin.
This is wishful thinking actually but the quest squad somehow ends up being just x, vi and the dragons!
This is more of a theme prediction, but every book thus far (all 2!) have been about unpacking a level of propaganda. FW is Navarre's propaganda about war, and IF is Navarre's propaganda about Poromiel. Therefore, we have at least 2 more forms of propaganda to unpack: whatever the fuck is going on with the dragons, and the idea that venin are inherently evil. I think we tackle one of these book 3 and one book 4! Or perhaps both together, because they are intertwined.
Crack Pot Theories
Papa Sorrengail's first name is Adam.
I don't think Halden is Violet's ex. I think it's literally two random ass infantry guys. Also Xaden gets to kill Halden :)
I think Brennan killed Naolin! I also think they were gay. I think it’s a mirror to a different way to handle someone turning venin for you than what Vi and X will do
I may edit this and add more. Why am I blanking on every thought I've ever had about onyx storm in my life.

Jango Fett the Mushroom Man
The other day, @threebea came to the DMs with the following:
Vampire Satine Very much at odds with other vampires of her lineage for how humans are treated etc etc, but mostly it was just aesthetics, and Obi-Wan in the wet heroine at the castle door, Satine trying very hard not to give into her nature while both of them are intensely pulled toward each other etc etc. Also vampire that could easily wreck the shit of hunters but is a pacifist so her fleshy boyfriend throws himself in the way of them Death watch hunter or w/e: You're letting your thrall fight for you. Satine, trying to grab Obi-Wan by the ear: We can just run stop it. Jedi probably mage/"hunters" who only hunt to keep balance but there's bad blood between their order and vampires (or whatever) For once I didn't get much into world building, [the clones] might not be and it's just the 'ruling' Mandalorians that are vampires. So the usual suspects like Tor, Jango, Jaster etc. Clones could be magic simulacrums (or that's what they're called) sim troopers. Vampire lords ruling the people, and it's for protection, but can get very abusive and predatory quick depending who is in rule.
Which is great! But my first thought in regards to the question of 'what's up with the clones' was uh. Well this was my message.
Help my first thought was "what if Jango buds like a fungus and got hit with some disease that makes him overproduce so he made thousands instead of like two".
And it's off to the races.
The weirdest magical malady. Jango the mushroom man. Adopted by vampires. They can't eat him because blood different and also fungus is weird. Jaster: This is my mushroom son [hugging Jango to him] Jango:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't even mean for Jango budding to be a vampire AU thing unless vampires bud, but this is so much funnier.
Satine and Obi-Wan having dark gothic vampire romance, and meanwhile:
Tumblr media
Montross: You cannot make a mushroom your heir >< you are a vampire lord! Jaster: It doesn't say in the rulebook that a mushroom can't be a vampire lord
Jaster pointing out that Jango looks and acts human other than the mushroom thing
Jaster: Show them. Jango: sigh [grows fangs, they're not hard or anything they just look like fangs]
The fangs pop off and turn into more sons.
Jango: …. Jango: [Puts them in a box with a bunch of other mushroom children] Jaster: Jango! Mushroom children:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The human form is basically a shape they take. They could be other shapes maybe a cuckoo kind of defense thing where they get raised by other races a lot.
For the sake of Jango's sanity, maybe they only need a few days to be walking and talking toddlers. And have rudimentary knowledge passed down genetically somehow instead of being taught (basically flash training but like the goa'uld).
Vamps try to bite them for blood but it's just. Mushroom.
Vamp: pah wtf? Lol yes they grow super fast
Chop off an arm and it not only grows back but it becomes another child. I'm imagining they wear the armor because it's easy to break off a piece like portobello mushroom.
Most are limbs slowly morphing into babies.
Lol yep it's a very hardy fighting force. More soldiers at the end of a battle than the beginning. Sort of scary actually. Although maybe part of the Kamino sorcerer thing was that they made it so that the babies grow even more rapidly.
Jango, confused: Why do they have bones

realized that you didn't have anything on lottie 😞 but imagine some fluff where you're the one pregnant in the wilderness instead of shauna - you're obviously freaking out but lottie's there to comfort you
-🐈‍⬛
i was actually hoping for lottie requests! i love her so much. this ended up being way longer than i expected. / mdni, sfw, angst and fluff
we all know lottie matthews is the best possible father to have for your children. she doesn't care who the actual father is, because she's taking that role so seriously that it might have everyone else questioning if it's really not hers.
lottie is pretty much the only person you can stand most days. being pregnant was already hell on it's own, but being pregnant, stranded in the middle of nowhere and starving? you'd obviously be more than just a little cranky. it's not exactly unexpected when you snap at others for seemingly no reason, your emotions hightened and much more sensitive. the exhaustion from it all didn't help either; you could barely sleep most nights and it was taking it's tool on you.
even when you snap at lottie, she's still patient. she doesn't blame you for being stressed, not at all. she does everything she can to make sure both you and the baby are safe, her hand constantly covered in cloth from her many blood offers to the wilderness. every morning during prayer, she always takes a minute or two to pray for the baby's health.
lottie who sneaks you some of her portions. you're eating for two after all, and she can't stand it when she hears your stomach rumbling late at night. it truly breaks her heart. sometimes, she won't even tell you, she'll just give you a slightly bigger portion and take a smaller one for herself. insists that you drink her blood tea, too. she can be a bit pushy, but she means well.
lottie who also insists on cuddling. claims that it's for warmth, that it's not good for the baby if you're cold, but she just likes being able to hold you and feel your heartbeat. it's grounding for her in a way that nothing else can even come close. she loves whispering and talking to the baby with her cheek pressed against your belly, whether it's just humming a song or talking about the baby is a blessing, a sign of good things to come.
lottie is by your side the entire time you're giving birth. she refuses to let go of your hand, even when your nails dig in so hard that it bleeds. she tries her best to be comforting, but it's so obvious that she's panicking. the moment you pass out, her anxiety skyrockets.
the moment the baby comes out, silent and completely still, lottie can feel her heart shattering into a million pieces. she doesn't cry, not at that moment, staying strong for you. when you wake up and she has to give the news, it's when it really hits her. he's dead, even though you desperately beg to hear him crying, trying to shake his lifeless, bundled up body awake, like he was merely sleeping.
lottie holds you for hours, letting you sob on her shoulders. she refuses to let go even when you fall asleep, her hand on your chest to make sure that your heart is still beating and that she won't lose you too. only when you're knocked out from exhaustion she cries, burying her face onto the pillow to not make too much noise and risk waking you. she doesn't sleep, barely blinks, just holding you and grieving with you.
or, in a happier scenario that the baby does survive, lottie's fathering tendencies only get worse. constantly fussing over you and the baby to the point that sometimes you have to tell her to leave you alone. she never goes too far, though.
when the others even dare to complain about the baby's cries, lottie shuts them up instantly with a glare. she refuses to have anyone speaking ill of the baby, her baby. she'll act humble if you mention it, but the baby always seems to fall asleep easily on her arms.
lottie who tries to find any kinds of similarities between herself and the baby, even if there are none. "you know, my nose used to look exactly like that when i was a baby. he's just like me..."

SPOILERS FOR SEASON FINALE/Theories for next season
HUGE SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE. PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION (only read after you have read the season finale, you have been warned)
I wanna talk about my theory of Buddy stealing Chase's narratonin this whole time. After re-reading some eps, there are some clues I gathered (This turned out to be a mix of observations put together, some sort of character analysis and a few theories. It also turned out to be very long, so Buckle up!)
I apologize in advance for any mistakes, English is not my first language. I also apologize if people in the past have made similar theories, I would not want to get repetitive, but I have not come across any similar posts so far
Now without any further ado, I am ready to share my super long CB essay.
-First and foremost, we have seen Chase feeling down for getting so little narratonin compared to Deacon and Prunella. If Nox can track Chase in every book, he might be able to steal his narratonin too. Since he is some sort of key, he might not be able to earn it on his own.Αs stated by Silver, only humans are able to earn it. Even if Nox seems to be different from the other keys, he might still be sharing some specific traits with them ( just like how he knows how every story is supposed to go by the time he enters it, which is another trait of the keys).
-When Nox met Chase for the first time,he seemed enraged and was the most aggressive we have ever seen him. After seeing a glimpse of his circumstances in the finale,we can assume that anyone in his shoes would be desperate to achieve their goals. Nox comes off as a perfectionist and control freak and Chase being in the equation obviously wasn't in his initial plans, whatever those were,so I believe his aggressive attitude during their first meeting stemmed from his desperation to take control of the situation.
-When Nox grabs Chase by the collar during their first meeting,he makes sure to take a good look at Silver.Nox knows that the key is merely a symbol around his neck and that the real key is in the real world, that gives me the impression that he was aware of the crack and he wanted to check on Silver’s condition.
-Nox said that Chase was wasting his time and to quote him"after all that and it's just a small weak little thing like you".The way he phrased that showcased two things. Firstly,he hints that he (either directly or indirectly) has been planning carefully towards his intended goal and putting a lot of effort into it,but Chase's presence stands in the way as he doesn't deem him worthy to possess a key. Secondly,it shows that he didn't think that Chase was good enough for whatever job the person who was supposed to find Silver had to do.But, his opinion on Chase seems to change during the toffee break arc when he starts considering him useful. By that moment, it seems that Nox had already been making adjustments to his plans and adding Chase into the equation. This brings me to my next point.
-At first, Nox was really determined to get Chase out of the books, but in the cinderfella arc he was willing to come to an agreement, why the sudden change in attitude? I think that's the point where he started to make adjustments to his plans and decided to add Chase in them without Chase's knowledge. In other words,he decided to use Chase so he could carry on with his plans. Also, Nox never leaves a story first, could it be because there have to be conditions met so he can steal Chase's narratonin? Maybe this is why he insists on Chase following the stories and completing them. He can't earn narratonin on his own, so he needs someone else to complete the story for him. If certain conditions are not met, he can not steal it. This means their bet during that arc could be some sort of way for Nox to test Chase, and see if he is suitable for his plans and whether he can ensure that Chase meets the necessary conditions for Nox to steal the narratonin. This would explain his pensive expression by the end of ep 7. He doesn't seem to want an innocent person to get involved in any of this, which could mean that his aggressive attitude at first could be a mix of desperation to regain control and also an attempt to protect an outsider that has no idea what he got himself into. However, since his attempts to kick Chase out of the books proved to be unsuccessful,he had no choice but to revise his plans and include Chase instead. Ultimately,Chase was a stranger to him and the stakes seemed too high for Nox to show any consideration for Chase. From Nox’s perspective, Chase is an outsider whose intentions Nox found difficult to trust. Nox always made assumptions about Chase, believing him to be incompetent, a quitter and even dishonest and underhanded. It is possible that Nox held onto these beliefs as if he wanted to create a narrative in which Chase was not a good person, convincing himself to adhere to this perspective while not wanting to give Chase the chance to prove him wrong.
-Back in the beach boys arc,I think that at the time when Nox was hypnotising info out of Chase, it was for his own personal purposes and not because someone in a higher rank forced him to do so. First of all, if a magical, evil organisation had lost some of their precious artifacts, you would think they would put more effort into getting them back.Especially if they knew that two keys are actively being used by two young boys. If Nox was Indeed an agent sent to retrieve the keys,he sure would not be the best one at his job as he not only doesn't show results, but he actually lets the boys use the keys despite his threatening attitude, which means that Nox is operating on his own with the help of Violet and presumably the aid of other keys(?). Thus, ex libris doesn't know that Nox is going into books and a part of Nox does seem to want Chase to continue with the stories so he can fulfill his plans. For the reasons mentioned above,I think when Buddy tried to get info out of Chase in that arc, it wasn't because he was forced and, we also know that he personally wouldn't be able to go where Chase lives (not when he is smaller than the chocolate bars he likes to eat),but it was because of his own curiosity about Chase (cause he was starting to warm up to him a bit at that point) and probably in order to shake off any possible guilt he might have felt about using Chase. His goal was to convince himself that Chase was indeed like any other human he has met before— selfish,a liar and manipulative and he wanted to convince himself that if given the chance,Chase would also use him,but Chase keeps proving him the opposite, slowly changing Nox’s view on the world cause he teaches him that there can be honesty, there can be kindness, there can be selflessness.
- Now I previously said that Nox is most likely not forced to work for Ex Libris, but he did mention that there is an old man that shouldn't notice that there is something missing. That gives us two pieces of information. 1) Even if Nox is not under constant supervision,he isn't free either.2)I assume that what's missing is not only Silver (and some other keys, but I will get back to that later),but also the ripped page that was within the book that Chase found, because the comic cuts off to a panel of a book with a ripped page back in ep 3. It is impossible that Nox was the one that put Silver and the page in the library, unless he can control his height and is allowed outside which I doubt, cause what would be the point of all this, then? Still, the book was obviously put there on purpose by someone and even had the words "read me" as if meant to capture one's attention. It was most likely a sign for someone to recognise it and take it.But who? All I can think of is that either Nox, or someone in a similar situation as Nox,had the chance to get in contact with someone of the outside world that could help them, cause if the person that was meant to find Silver was someone within the organisation ,why would they need instructions on how the keys work?Nox seems to know plenty about the keys and I assume anyone in the same situation as him would too(or it could be because Violet shared all the information she has about the keys). This crosses out the theory of that person being part of the organisation and leaves us with the assumption that the person intended to find Silver was either an outsider, or someone with limited knowledge of the keys and the organisation. This theory gives me the chance to talk about the flyers about the keys that are all over the town. I doubt that it is Ex Libris, though it is a possibility, but if it was Indeed them behind the flyers, why do they look for a set of missing keys and not mention the exact number of the keys that are missing? Maybe because the person that posted the flyers doesn't know how many keys there are, maybe it is someone with limited knowledge that would need instructions on how to use the keys. That makes me think that the person that posted the flyers is the person that was supposed to find Silver (and maybe other keys as well), but they were late as someone else had already found them. After that, they put up flyers with rewards in hopes to find the keys.As the reward seems to be high,we could assume that this person is rich and might have some sort of power which is why their help would be of use to Nox.
-Finally, concerning the old man I have the following theory. I personally think that ex libris is not an active organisation anymore. It might have faded away over the years and that old man that Nox mentioned is perhaps a descendant of a high ranking member that discovered its archives and rebuilt it or is attempting to rebuild it on his own terms. In dreams by night, we see Nox dressed as if he's a captive trying to escape. This leads me to think that the old man from whom Nox is trying to run away,in his attempt to rebuild the organisation, established some kind of institution as a front—perhaps an orphanage or a facility meant to help kids and young adults without homes or families to turn to. Such a set-up would make it easier to exploit them without anyone noticing or searching for them. I feel that Nox likely grew up in this newly established organisation, having no family of his own, which explains why he knows so much about the keys and ex Libris,as well why he is now wary of others. His trust was likely betrayed when a place meant to help him turned out to be using him.The theory that the organisation is no longer active can be supported by the fact that when Silver awoke, she didn't seem to recognise the style clothing from today's era (unless ex libris had some sort of dress code to enhance the cult like Vibe—which I understand, cause if I was running an evil organisation I would totally have a dress code) or any of the technologies (But this could also be because the keys were too restricted). Additionally, the book shown in ep 3 (I think), from which a page is missing,is likely the same ripped page that explains how the keys work. This suggests the book might be a set of records intended for future use,as members of ex libris would already know how to use the keys. Also,as mentioned above,Nox and violet are not shown to be strictly supervised. An organisation with the profile of Ex Libris wouldn't go too long without using the keys or allowing them to be awake, which means that the old man's priorities may lie somewhere else for the time being instead of using the keys or even tracking them. There's a possibility he hasn't noticed that Silver is missing or maybe he doesn't care enough to try and retrieve her. If we accept the theory of ex libris being inactive for years,it would be logical if some keys were lost over those years and it would be too hard to find them now,so the old man instead of looking for them is trying to replace the missing ones by experimenting on humans (Nox's case? He seems to be a replacement for the villain key)
-Before I reach my final point, I wanna talk about ‘’Dreams by night’’ because it has been on my mind A LOT.When Nox looks at the mirror, he sees his own reflection with an expression that seems both surprised and contemplative,as if he is summoning courage. This could signify that Nox is presenting a facade or some sort of persona to survive, implying that his current self is not who he is supposed or wants to be. He desires to leave this part of himself behind and change. This idea is reinforced when he picks up a clock, determined to break the mirror. However, then he  notices that the reflection has changed—it is now Chase. This could symbolise that, in order to escape, Nox feels he has to use Chase, which explains his guilty look and apologetic behaviour.Alternatively, Nox seeing Chase in the mirror could indicate that he sees Chase as a reflection of himself, or rather as someone onto whom he projects his own shortcomings/perception of himself (it is not uncommon for people in dysfunctional environments to see themselves in a bad light). Now Nox is forced to face an uncomfortable truth about himself as Chase’s presence could be bringing to light suppressed feelings and emotions. At the same time, Chase’s reflection could represent someone that Nox aspires/wishes to be— someone who lives freely, enjoys a normal life and has the luxury of being a kind and genuine person without any ulterior motives. Chase is a person who is authentic, like an open book. He is not restricted or forced to put up a front. This could be the kind of traits Nox would want to have had he not been in the situation he is. To achieve his desired life,Nox realises he has to break the mirror, but he is also aware that doing so will end up hurting Chase in the process of fulfilling his wish. However, on a more positive note, since Punko mentioned in her creator’s note that dreams are not always what they seem, the destruction of the mirror might foreshadow the collapse of Nox’s villainous persona, allowing him to transform into his desired version of himself. Chase might serve as the catalyst of this change, pushing Nox toward a positive change.
- Last but not least, when it comes to the keys we know for sure that some of them have gone missing. What bothers me is Silver's crack back in the beginning of the story and why Nox seems to be replacing the villain key. We have seen that keys can suffer damages if a book is destroyed or in the process of being destroyed. Maybe something went wrong the last time Silver and the original villain key were in a book and as a result, Silver was cracked, while the villain key was damaged beyond repair, which is why Nox is replacing him.  In the ‘’still waters’’ arc, Nox said ‘’I have never seen it attempted on a damaged book’’ to Chase’s question of whether completing the story would get them out. This leaves room to interpret that he has seen keys being stuck in a damaged book before. (The original villain key and possibly Silver as I mentioned which is why he checked her condition upon his first meeting with Chase).
It is also noteworthy that when Chase found Silver, she was not rusty like Bronze and Goldie. Does the rusty condition of Bronze and Goldie suggest that they have been lost for a longer time than Silver? On the other hand, if we accept the theory that that one time Bronze visited a book ,Nox appeared and decided to leave the book in fear of being recognised when he saw Bronze was the one who entered, it could mean that Bronze and Goldie know Nox, so there is also a chance they were not lost a long time ago after all. What seems to be true is that someone intended for Silver to be found, while Bronze and Goldie were probably lost/scattered. Maybe someone wanted to prevent an abuse of power and prevent a wish from being made, so they stole some keys since all 12 need to be present for a wish.
Long theory less long,I think Nox is a captive in a shady organisation run by the old man he mentioned. This new group somehow discovered Ex Libris and what they used to do with the keys, so now they want to use magical items for their own purposes by experimenting on other humans. In an attempt to escape, Nox came up with a plan involving Silver and Violet, but things didn't go as planned cause he would not have guessed that on a random summer day, Chase would stumble upon Silver in a dull library, giving him the opportunity for a miracle to save his mom,all while being completely unaware of the chaos unfolding behind the scenes. Also, in ‘’dreams by night’’ the image of Nox breaking the mirror, where Chase’s reflection appears and it causes him to apologise, could also be a metaphor for Nox using Chase and stealing his narratonin in order to escape. This is why we see Nox passing through the mirror after shattering it, because he has no choice but to use Chase so he can be free and he feels guilty about it.However, now he seems reluctant to carry on with his plans as he realised his feelings for Chase. It is also heavily implied that Chase makes his motivation of turning back into a human stronger, so he might need to have a change of plans in order to avoid hurting Chase. (It is a nice parallel of trust between Nox and Chase, as this time it is Nox who needs to prove his trust in Chase. He was recently hurt that Chase kept a secret from him,but now it seems he will be the one to reveal a secret he has been keeping and I feel Silver’s letter to Violet will play a role in that).
This is just a theory, a Cinderella boy theory… ( that could turn out to be a total bunch of nonsense, but it was still fun to write). if you read this far, thank you so much for your time, here’s a virtual cake-> 🧁 to thank you for sticking this long!

☾a shy and skeptical bill bailey (pre-fame axl rose) finds unexpected kindness and connection when a girl sits with him in the cafeteria, sharing her lunch and breaking through his guarded exterior.☽

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the hum of the school cafeteria buzzed like a hive, full of voices overlapping, laughter spilling from crowded tables, and the occasional scrape of plastic trays against formica. among the chaos, one table sat starkly empty, save for one figure hunched over his lunch.
bill bailey sat with his shoulders rounded and his red hair curtaining his face. he picked at a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, occasionally glancing up through his bangs to check if anyone was watching. his old leather jacket, a little too big for his wiry frame, creaked softly as he moved.
you noticed him from your spot a few tables away. while the rest of the cafeteria seemed animated—friends gossiping, couples sharing fries—bill’s loneliness stood out like a sore thumb. he always sat alone. you’d seen him get shoved into lockers a few times, heard the names people threw his way: “freak,” “redneck,” and worse.
today, though, something made you stand. grabbing your lunch tray, you wove through the tables and made your way toward him.
he looked up as you approached, his green eyes wide with suspicion. “uh… what do you want?” he asked, his voice quiet but sharp enough to put up a barrier.
you smiled gently and set your tray down across from him. “just thought i’d sit with you. is that okay?”
his gaze darted to the other tables, where a few kids had started whispering and pointing. he huffed and looked back down at his sandwich. “you don’t have to. i’m fine by myself.”
“well, i’ve got an extra apple,” you said, pulling it from your tray and rolling it across the table toward him. “figured you might want it.”
bill stared at the apple like it might bite him. “why are you being nice to me?”
you shrugged. “because i want to be. do i need a reason?”
he squinted at you, as if trying to decide whether you were messing with him. when he didn’t immediately shove the apple back, you smiled and unwrapped your sandwich.
the silence stretched for a moment before you spoke again. “so, do you like pb&j, or is it just survival food?”
he blinked, caught off guard by the casual question. “uh, i guess i like it. cheap and easy, y’know?”
you nodded, taking a bite of your sandwich. “can’t argue with that. but if you had to pick your favorite food, what would it be?”
bill hesitated, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of his sandwich. “i dunno… maybe spaghetti. my mom used to make it a lot.”
“that’s a good choice,” you said, smiling. “i make a pretty mean spaghetti, too. secret ingredient: a pinch of cinnamon in the sauce.”
“cinnamon?” he asked, his eyebrows lifting. “that’s… weird.”
“it’s good, i promise!” you laughed. “i’ll make it for you sometime, and you’ll see.”
bill’s face softened at the idea, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “maybe.”
as the two of you talked, the tension in his shoulders eased. he opened up bit by bit, telling you about the music he liked—bands like led zeppelin and queen—and how he wanted to learn piano but didn’t have one at home. you shared your own favorite bands, and before long, you were laughing together over the ridiculous outfits freddie mercury used to wear on stage.
when the lunch period was nearly over, bill leaned back in his chair, his sandwich mostly eaten and the apple now resting in his hand. “you’re not like the others,” he said, his tone quieter now, almost shy.
you tilted your head. “is that a good thing?”
“yeah,” he said after a moment, a genuine smile breaking across his face. “it is.”
the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, and you stood to gather your tray. “see you tomorrow?” you asked, hopeful.
bill nodded, the apple still in his hand. “yeah. thanks… for sitting with me.”
you flashed him a smile. “anytime, bill.”
as you walked away, you couldn’t help but glance back. he was still sitting there, turning the apple over in his hands with a small, thoughtful smile on his face. for the first time in a long time, he didn’t look quite so alone.

Some semi-coherent analysis threads bc my dumb ass needs bullet points to stay organized:
—SEASON FINALE SPOILERS BELOW!!!—
I’ve been dissecting some of allegorical elements of the story- I’m not sure if these are intended or even completely accurate to the story, just my interpretation of how every single narrative element potentially ties together, which is insanely impressive. Some of these are speculations or extrappolations; it’s hard to confirm some things until we know Buddy’s backstory, but this is based on his statement that he’s “never been the hero in any story, not even his own” (AAHHAHAHLSJHSKHSSKJ)
Sorry if some of these thoughts make no sense feel free to me for clarification lol, and I might be repeating things that have been said before but idk. And if i quote anything then I pulled it from the finale
BUT THE WHOLE STORY WORLD IS A METAPHOR FOR ROLES, CONVENTIONS, AND BREAKING EXPECTATIONS
The stories and their roles parallel the characters’ interiority
- chase is defiant of his role
- Buddy believes that his role defines him
- “What the stories want” > the characters wanting to break out of their roles
“Maybe this isn’t the ending that was supposed to happen” > DEVELOPMENT
- difference between who we are vs. who we think we are
- Think we’re “supposed to turn out” one way according to roles
- World where hero <3 villain = breaking conventions and expectations
- Ties in with the roles were given
“Our roles are gone, the world is gone, but we’re still here”
- we are our cores, not the roles we’re assigned
- The world cannot change who you truly are
- The world/roles getting destroyed = allowed them to be themselves
- Buddy became the hero
- Chase showed his vulnerability
Character complexity: buddy is and isn’t a “hero”
- there is no black and white answer
- He’s a complex person who made mistakes that he deeply regrets
- At the same time, he never caused any physical harm to chase- and when he did, he was instantly remorseful
If you think about buddy’s perspective, he fits the role of a hero
- in a bad situation
- Needs something to fix that situation
- Someone is in his way of achieving that goal for what he’s been trained to believe are selfish reasons
BUT THE METAPHORICAL PARTS!!!
Every storybook fantasy world was fake
- literally the entire setting wasn’t real
- The whole story is a giant metaphor
- Roles in stories = roles we think we fit into
- How roles inhibit you from who you really are
We can all be heroes or villains, regardless of what role we’re given
- chase defies his role as a kid who can’t go to college and needs to make money > still dreams big despite the hand he’s been dealt
“Stories just want an ending even if it’s not the one you’d expect”
- direct metaphor- ppl want to be themselves regardless of their roles
- You can’t control who someone is going to be
- All that matters is that they like themself, no matter what they expected
- They want to be enjoyed > people just want to live
The story ending = just living regardless of roles
- the stories are all fake but a direct parallel to the human personality
- We put up walls and fake facades to hide what we actually are/want
- The roles don’t matter as long as we just live
- Roles are put in place to try and create smoothness/structure
- we confine ourselves into fantasy book roles - ie deacon being the helper - without realizing that we have full power to get out of those
- We tell ourselves stories of what’s real/what we’re capable of
-the stories themselves are confining to the multi dimensional nature of human possibility
And Chase was literally invented to defy the stereotypical isekai tropes. Every character is strongly defiant of what someone might expect a stereotypical hero, villain, and sidekick to be- they’re so much richer, they all have motives and desires. And they each want to feel like “the hero” but it’s so far out of their grasps. The storybooks set an expectation of what a hero is - by literally fitting people into roles - I mean come on how much more symbolic can it get than literally ASSIGNING ROLES with the keys - but they all have a complex idea of how “being a hero” fits into their lives.
But as silver said, people love the hero because they tried- and Chase, buddy, and deacon are all trying so hard to find peace in their lives.
Back to the finale-
All the story wants is a true loves kiss > it just wants them to be themselves
- love is love lol
- Roles don’t matter, you matter
Roles > chase never fit into his role
- strong foil for buddy, who fully defined himself by his role
- Chase believed he could choose his role regardless of what life gave him
Chase is all about breaking conventions and doing the impossible
- Embodiment of unconventionality
- First to break out of role/callous hero expectation
Buddy is the embodiment of surrendering to his role
- letting it control him through fear and low self-esteem
- Surrendered to his role because he feels like a villain irl
Something always goes wrong in the stories- people are not meant to fit into roles
- chase defying the stories = rebelling against societal roles and expectations
- Buddy being a stickler for accuracy- he doesn’t know how to escape his role
“Our roles are gone, the world is gone, but we’re still here”
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHSJDKFKSDJFHSKSKSJFJSJSHAHDJGKKSJAHSHDHD
- BIG HEALING MOMENT BC NOTHING IS THERE TO CONFINE BUDDY AKA HIS BELIEF SYSTEM THAT TELLS HIM HES THE VILLAIN HES LITERALLY SHEDDING HIS ROLE BC THE WORLD HAS BEEN DESTROYED SO THEIR ROLES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED TOO AAAAHHH THIS QUOTE NEEDS TO PAY RENT BC ITS SPENT WAY TOO MUCH TIME IN MY HEAD
- I mean come on. Yes I am a simp for metaphorical apocalypses but THIS. THEIR ROLES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. THE TWO OF THEM ARE LITERALYYYY ALL THATS LEFT
anygay
Dreams by night episode-
- the hero’s dreams come true- but not really
- In real life, your happily ever after doesn’t always happen
- The coffin: Buddy is mentally trapped in his villain role
- He doesn’t know how to get out
- The coffin is an emotional box that he’s stuck in
- Doesn’t believe he could be anything but the villain
- Buddy’s dream could be a flashback
- Blood on his clothes- possibly had to fight other “contestants”
- I think buddy was pit against other ppl but there was one who he really cared about and let down
- He’s definitely missing someone in his life who’s no longer here
- Fighting could have convinced him he was the villain
- Or failing to save the person he cared about
- Could have made him think he’s selfish = villain
- Or survivors guilt
- Mirror = reflection of himself
- Sees chase in his reflection = sees the part of him that he knows isn’t a villain
- Chase is making him believe that he could be good/worthy of kindness and love
- Chase symbolizes the part of himself that’s fighting to break out of his villain role
- Chase gives him hope
- Not even fully aware of his internal journey
- Chase is so clearly a fresh and new viewpoint in his life
- Surprised bc he hasn’t been cared for like that before
- “This is how it has to be” - he cannot break out of his villain role
- It’s been so deeply ingrained in him
- He doesn’t think there’s any way out
- Mirror is dark > conforming to the darkness of his role
Buddy was never the bad guy > he has a very strong motivation for getting the keys back, aka turning human again
- he never lied to chase
- He helped chase finish the stories
- He told him that he needed the keys back and Chase refused
- His pranks were only ways to accomplish his goal
- Trying to get chase’s location in beach boys > couldn’t comprehend why Chase would be genuine
- Used to humans being manipulative and unkind
- Why should he think Chase is any different?
Buddy has never done something outwardly bad and not apologized for it
- so fast to apologize when he cut chase’s face
- He’s aware of the line between good and bad
He never fights back when people attack him
- Just accepts all the bad things that happen to him
- Doesn’t try to stop people from hurting him
Both buddy and Chase have done “good” and “bad” things but Buddy has never had bad motivation
- all his motivation was in self-defense
- Chase also triggers him in many ways
- Reacting to his own past through his experience with Chase
Buddy doesn’t get <that> upset with Chase when he finds out about the key - “you think I’d kidnap a poor child?”
- he’s aware of others’ perceptions of him
- The fact that he doesn’t seem super betrayed or disappointed is even sadder
- “Why would anyone think that I’m good/trust me”
- Matches his original expectations and views of himself
- Probably felt like Chase was too good to be true
- He’s used to humans betraying him
- Chase lying = affirmation that his belief system is correct
Why buddy is kinda mean to chase at first- he thinks he’s the same as the ex libris guys
- Thinks chase is making selfish wishes
- Associates him with the people who (presumably) abused buddy to get their wish
- He sees chase as a threat
Chase is threat = have to fight back
- his pranks on Chase are meant to tire him out but also to look stronger
- Insulting Chase over his weaknesses = trying to be the tougher guy
- Literally boxed and suppressed
- Matches his need to be in control of situations
- Needs everything to go the right way > triggered by his helplessness irl
main reason why he’s mean to chase- thinks chase is privileged in the ways he’s not
- calls him a brat- oblivious, doesnt think he’s suffered
- thinks chase is just playing around, which buddy can’t afford to do
chase triggers one of his deepest insecurities- having what buddy doesn’t (or so he thinks)
- don’t know buddys backstory but it has a lot less kindness/goodness
- jealous of chase but also resentful of his attitude (initially)
why buddy messes with chase - he’s a pretty big attention seeker
- he gets annoyed when deacon is around
- wants his “rivalry” with chase all to himself
- attention seeking = byproduct of surroundings
- given a lack of positive attention
punko confirmed that buddy is lazy > lack of motivation
- people without love/support can lack motivation to accomplish things
- buddy is mistreated > no reason to strive for what he wants
- Could possibly feel undeserving
- Especially if he failed to save someone he cared about
- “laziness” is interloped with symptoms of depression
Chase uses the stories as escapism
- his real life is much harder
- Mom is sick, family judges him for not having a corporate job
Buddy insulting his voice on the heels of his visits to the aunt and uncle’s house- OUCH
- chase is so strong fr I’d prolly react more like franny
Buddy starts saving chase / being the hero after beach boys
- sick day- saves deacon and brings chase to safety
- Jailer- rescues chase from creepy guy
- Still waters- saves chase’s and everyone else’s lives
That’s all I have now! I love dissecting stories and picking them apart, but oh my freaking god the storytelling in this webtoon is next-next-tier. I’m just stunned at how incredibly detailed the characters are and how every scene is packed with subtext and emotion- funny moments, sad ones, heart wrenching ones, devastating but hopeful ones. I’ve been trying to find what makes Chase + buddy’s dynamic so strong between characterization, internal conflict, belief systems, behavior, backstory, etc. and I’m sure it all comes down to punko’s imagination and her unfettered love for the story. But if you’re a chronic overthinker and obsessive analyzer like me I’d looooove to hear your thoughts, theories, analyses, or anything at all!! Especially about the dreams by night episode IM GONNA CRACK THE CODE I KNOW I WILL

"Heart of Glass, My Mind of Stone" Sequel Plans
Okay, as we're getting closer to the end of "Heart Made of Glass, My Mind of Stone" fic, I want to kind of lay out what I want to happen, schedule/planning out wise.
First, I am going to go through all of "Heart of Glass" and clean some things up. There are, albeit minor, bits that I wrote but never did anything with that I will remove from the fic or alter (in the first few chapters, Caitlyn is mentioned/referred to attending a school in Piltover that I never did anything with, for example). None of these will affect the plot or change the characters in any ways, but this is one of the side effects of making up the story and posting it as you go that I do want to address.
I am still going to release a kind "deleted scenes" or "alternative perspectives" scenes chapter, but note that it won't be very long. Not sure if I'll attach it to "Heart of Glass" after the epilogue or make it its own stand alone that I have be apart of the "I Will Give You My Rebel Heart" series. It would be one chapter and I would be clear on what the contents of each scene will be and the structure of the chapter will be like little vignettes with their own sections. I plan on doing this after the fic is finished and after I clean it up.
As of right now, I don't know when the sequel will be written. I might take a short break if I feel like it after "Heart of Glass" is finished or I just might continue since I've been on this incredible stretch of time being so inspired. I've been planning some of the sequel out as I've been wrapping up "Heart of Glass," but it's not fully fleshed out by any means. While I don't plan on knowing how it ends before the first chapter is released, I do still want to have some goals/plot points to hit in mind.

Yet another one- You guys know the drill :) :
Sams appreciative smile of Tom’s introduction of the idea of what they're doing, amazing supportive friendship
“One man, six strangers” This audience member is fun!!! “I've seen that video1” Tom help-
“Theres only thhhreee people up here” yes good math Tom, very nice
“Bilbo Baggins finds a diamond.” “Strong rip-off vibes there” tom i cant
“The confused racist panda” the confused raci- wh-whatttt
“You lost us right in the middle there.” thank you for showing it with your hands Tom, i really needed that actually
“You get three very white guys on stage and go “lets talk racism” it doesn't end well.” With you three i think it might, but fair point- also i thought he was just grabbing a drink- wheres luke??? 😭
“Is that from Twin Towers guy?” ok i didn't see the first half of the show- but thats an insane way to be categorized/known, also AJ fucking losing it is always a gem, love that
Even sam had to hang his head for that one lmao what did you do twin towers guy???
“The excited chinchilla?” Glances around at Sam and AJ. “What do you guys like so far?” Genuinely my heart omg-
“I like the excited chinchilla- what does that, what does that look like exactl-” AJ you better be asking about what the scene could possibly look like and not what the animal-
“What does a chinchilla look like?” AJ please 😭
Also just to mention- when he started speaking Tom pointed to him and idk but it made something inside me smile so… mentioning it…. moving on
“Its like a cute little-” forms a ball with his hands. I gotta say Tom, thats pretty accurate. “Gerbil-y sort of thing.” Sam finishing his sentence i cant 😭
Also if Tom keeps pointing to them like that i might actually lose it-
“What he said.” I love them so much and i don't even know why this sentence specifically made me scream that but um… yeah
Sam and AJ just standing up, trying to figure out wtf they're gonna do…hoping inspiration will come from being elevated or smth ig
“You know some people get a dog i guess.” AJ i fucking love you-
His shrug also- cutest thing i've ever seen in my life
Ok idc where this relationship goes- but Sam and AJ being in love is rarely a thing and i didn't know how much i needed it until now but its adorable- Sam has the sweetest smile and AJ genuinely looks afraid of this nonexistent chinchilla but calmer the closer Sam gets and ahhhhh
Also sam talking about children😭i know they’re fake but planning a future together- my heart-😭
- i genuinely did not see Tom coming- XD losing my lung rn laughing what- and he does the raspy worker dude voice so well- help
“Thanks dad.” AJ marry me rn.
HE EVEN CAUGHT SAM OFF GUARD!!!!!
“...chinchilla.” The way he said that- wh-sir why???
Sam and AJ are both also caught off guard- oh this is gonna be a fun one i can tell- literally both breaking together at Tom’s strange growl
“Was this your idea?” Perfect gruff disapproving dad Tom, 10/10
“One moment sweetheart.” yes yes!!! Protect your daughter, take aside the boyfriend/husband???-it hasn't been established yet- and then… idk what actually but yes i love how gentle he was to AJ lol
“Listen i like you, yeah?” The audience understands lmaooo!! Sam thats never a good sign, run
Tom breaking- his little peek at AJ and then having to cover his mouth to hide his smile Ahhhhhhh so cute!!!
OH!!! He looked over because AJ was laughing at him- got it!!!
*AJ playing with the chinchilla* thank you captions- but im pretty sure that was just him almost dropping it-
“I think you've made a mistake here-” AJ wheezing
“Don't look at her-” “i love her!” THATS LOW SAM!!! THATS LOW!!! HE WASN'T TALKING ABOUT HIS DAUGHTER- HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE CHINCHILLA!!!! WOWWWWWW
Ok im better now (fuckin hilarious also sam, stellar)
“Shh-shhhut up.” we always love the drawn out shhhhut up
“I don't mean my daughter,” thank you for clarifying tom
AJ is running out of things to do lmaooo- holding it up to the light, turning in a circle, ah zabenya-ing it
“Just keep your door locked at night yeah?” TOM WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN??? HELLO????? I was not informed this was a horror story-
Sam is equally as confused as to where hes taking this- oh hes miming now
“At the bottom of your door you've got a- one of the draft excluders” tom what does that mean 😭
“I hope im overthinking this” you are, you so are, but i cant wait to see where this goes- oh my gods
“Keep your eyes open. Especially when you’re sleeping..” okkkk thats creepy and totally normal and what a father in law totally says-
AJ is tired of being a side character- lovely “boy chat??” idk what his hand movements are but im loving it
Sam side eyeing Tom is amazing
“You remember-” that lunge forward is worse than anything a chinchilla can do tom what-
Also Sam and AJ breaking, they did not see that coming’
“They can feel you breathing… they can always feel you breathing.” Ok thats ominous but also why do i feel like thats a random fact that Tom learned about chinchillas that hes adding into the story??? Idk seems like a thing they can do, and a thing hed know, and a thing hed do
Sam perplexed beyond reason how they're gonna make this a functioning scene
“Maybe in the war.” *shrugs casually* AJ!!! SIR what do you mmmmmeannnnnnnn  in the war????? What
Sam also almost breaking and AJ casually laughing because whatttt did he just say how are they furthering this plot
also off topic- the little tongue in the cheek movement is great, lovely, top notch, idk love it
AJ biting his lip and needing to look away so that he doesn't completely break is my everything
“You're an accountant, I’m a lawyer.” thank you for giving us backstory Sam, greatly needed
“Falling in love with you was the best thing I ever did.” ……. SIR. How am I ever gonna find someone if you’re pulling these lines on your fucking friend while doing an improv show- 😭 the standards are too high already-
The kiss 😭
Sam’s squint at Tom like “what the fuck are you- what are we doing here? Do i move in- was that stagecraft?- what??”
His shrug of “oh well fuck it I guess.” and moving a chair into scene while still shrugging at Tom bc he has no idea what to do
Sam repeating back all of Tom’s words in a slightly different font because he wants Tom to have control of the scene- and he has no ideas-
AJ looking between them and doing three pretty blinks as he pieces together the story
“Gavin…” *nervous chuckle* “obviously theres a difference.” please tell him Tom, we’re all dying to know, him especially
“Ckkk” what does that mean Tom 😭i thought it meant castration at first but now???
AJ stepping forward- wanting to join the scene but he’s still not entirely sure wtf is going on and three confused scene partners is a recipe for disaster- and oop Tom has an analogy maybe wait-
“Let me finish the sentence.” the pose Sam does- help-
AJ’s slow smile as Tom continues the bad analogy
“Of course.” Sam you’ve never “ckk”ed anything what do you mean of course
“What you've done-” AJ’s little lean back and victorian hand over mouth chuckle is my favorite thing in the world he does it so much and it kills me every time its so cute
Sam loosing it- and Tom breaking on stage!!! Thats something you don't see often!!
“Venomous” VENOMOUS???? THATS THE METAPHOR??? IT ISN'T ONE????
Oh nevermind its still a metaphor
The brainstem????? Thats what “ckkk” is?????
Im so confused help 😭
Tom’s spin in the chair is hilarious- peak comedy truly
“Can you imagine an unsnipped chinchilla???” I can now??? ALso both Sam and Tom breaking again, beautiful
“Have you ever seen a Rhino with a gun?” wtf??? “No??!?!” “thats the only thing i can compare this to Gavin!” I love how he keeps casually dropping in Gavin while Gavin has yet to name him
“How'd you just come in through the back of the store?” i see stagecraft is at play
AJ also knew it was coming but laughed anyway-peak
“Thats the least of your worries right now.” yes Aj, flip it on him!!! King
“Just on-just one!” Tom sounds genuinely afraid this is golden
Oh ma gods- the way AJ’s scream cuts off perfectly and he and Tom just relax the second Sam cuts off the scene is perfect
“Captain.” wait a damn minute- Captain??? Captain of the Police Force??? Not KING???? anyway-
“Five thousand people died.” damn. damn
also Tom laughing in the background, legs crossed and fingers steepled against his chin in proper Tom pose- i adore
“Theresa may.” Audience member i love you
And the way the roll with it too- gads i love them
Sam finally breaking when AJ actually “calls” Theresa May
Tom resigning himself to play Theresa
None of them knew where they were going except Tom but they all wanted to create a scene- loving the chaos- lukeeeee
That door creaking sound was a masterpiece and idk about you but Sam is a positively fucking terrifying chinchilla omg-
“Gary…” that audience member is losing her mind at his name being gary and i adore that for her
“Do you remember me from ZE WARRRRR!!!” the chinchilla asked calmly
“NO ONE CAN STOP ZE NAZI CHINCHILLAS!!!” Ok sam, praise, i love you, but why does it always come back to Germans??? There are more than just the one-two wars 😭like he could've created a fake one??? Nevermind its not important its the funniest one and maybe he’s just holding space for luke
AJ laughing as he dies via chinchilla is crazy
Killing him again is low but necessary lol
AJ losing it even more is a joy XD
I gotta say, very impressed with Sam’s pronunciation and then gibberish of german
AJ trying to clear the stage but Tom just stays fucking spread on the floor lmaooo
“Hold please.” AJ what???? Hes enjoying himself and being chaotic as always but what??? 😭XD
“I can hear you doing motions but this is a phone call so…” yes AJ!!!! Call him out!!!! XD glorious!!!
“With my man.” AJ i think ur in the clear to give him a name- i don't think its been done- but playing it safe, i see- even though its never stopped you before, giving someone two names but like wtv thats not my business-
Sam just messing with Tom’s arm/hands (making him slap himself) even though AJ specifically pointed out it was unnecessary but we love an annoying king- and dragging him around by his hair lol
Paella??? Is this a call back??? Its only the short story, but im assuming AJ’s being a lil bitch and making Tom say paella again- also Sam’s “squid” motion for Tom was brilliant XD
Sam dropping his head on Tom’s shoulder to laugh- my heart
“Im glad to hear I sound normal to you.”
“Hang up ze fucking phone!!!”
“Everything okay?” the switch from chinchilla to Sam gave me whiplash hang on-
“Did he?” “yeah yeah yeah.” “...did he?” Genuinely curious- did he? “Well he said the word.” Aj i love you
“Where its gone.” Im sorry but they said it in sync and together in harmony and like obvi but it just gives me joy anyway-
“Fuck we should probably look for it shouldn't we?” yeah just maybe AJ.
“Ill go down to the basement..” they both knows what gonna happen. “And see if its there.” both break. “What could go wrong?” thanks for saying the classic foreboding everything-will-now-go-wrong phrase sam
AJ’s shrug is such a mood i love him
“Ill see you upstairs.” “maybe.” if AJ doesn't die now I want a refund-
Tom: ominous basement noises
“Thats the music to the scene-” yes AJ, its like in movies- you don't address it!
“I already turned zis light on.” sorry sam but i thought the “chch” was the sound of a gun cocking-
“Hello cecily.” well thats terrifying-
“Franz Haberburg.” we get a Tom smile!!!! And AJ breaks as well, so cute
“The door is pretty closed and soundproof.” Sam what??? Poor Aj is gonna die XD- also AJ’s little laugh is my life
“HUSBAND! HU-HUSBAND!!!” “you don't seem to know his name.” XD Give the poor man a break Sam, hes been bullied for not remembering names enough times-
“I call him husband thats what we do its a cute thing.” AJ- still don't think he’s been named yet so you're free but like i respect it
“Who are you- well i know who you are- but what are you doing in my basement!” Now hes asking the real questions
“Until 1939.” the way Tom covers his mouth with his fingertips every time he laughs off stage gives me life- only the fingertips too- not the whole hand its- anyway
“What do you- what do you mean?” Aj breaking and Tom still laughing- asking the real questions now
“But it just wasn't racist enough-” Tom, previously: three white guys on stage, lets talk about racism, yeah, good idea
Why are they making the chinchilla- you know what i don't want to know the thought process- also Tom’s delight as hes watching is everything so its fine
“Your father is dead.” The audience who already knew this: *dramatic gasps* YES!!!! Finally a good audience who does all the proper dramatic gasps!!!
Dead tom enters the scene again!
“Have you ever zeen ze film terminator?” AJ’s back caving with a laugh, Tom twitching with laughter and Sam breaking mid sentence- i love these stupid goobers
Also the way AJ is gently cupping Tom’s neck-
“But no every single *grows quieter* chinchilla is a *laughs* nazi” AJ breaking- i love this skit omg XD-
“I-it-s im just stalling” good work AJ- very smooth, the audience has no idea.
Aj actually stumbling when Sam ducked- and the sound his arm made is crazy(also the way he checked to make sure he wouldn't actually hit Sam- my heart)
“Sooounnnd.” that was angelic Sam wow
AJ’s slow NPC turn-
“Maybe move on from this bit-” AJ and Sam both breaking- probably wise, honestly
*uncomfortable AJ*
“HUSBAND! HUSBAND!!! THE CHINCHILLAS A FUCKING NAZI!” Sam’s completely break- he did not expect that right out of the gate- (nor did he probably expect AJ to live through the scene but whatever-)
Also tom casually in the corner now because he cant really move theyre in the way so just watching and grinning-
“HE *YOU* VERY VERY NEARLY GAVE ME THE HITLER SPEECH! WE WERE THIS🤏CLOSE!” Sam loosing it- oh and Tom escapes to the back
“AND I ABANDONED THE SCENE!” Aj is just publicly shaming Sam now-
“I GOT OUTTA THERE! BECAUSE I HAD TO!” explaining how tf he made it out of the basement-
“I HAD TO!” wayyyy too close to Sam’s face
“Have some beans” Aj: *rightfully confused because wtf?*
AJ genuinely loosing his shit and doing some strange drinking of beans and stagecraft
TOM AS THERESA!!! SHES HERE TO SAVE THE DAY!!!!
Sam also forgot about that character- or didn't expect Tom to dedicate to actually playing her- XD
AJ CASUALLY HAS A SHOTGUN WHAT-
“Wait-wh- one! Where did you get a gun-” wise questions Sam
“Two- this is the former prime minister. She tried to get the good Brexit deal- why are you pointing a gun at her?” Lmaooo Sam
Tom: *kills himself* Sam: *takes his time to get behind him to pretend like it was him*
“Theresa May is the best Nazi killer in ze world.” all three of them laughing before recovering really fast
XDXDXDXDXD sam having to alternate between his two [personalities- a comforting husband and a nazi chinchilla- what even is their life-
AJ- its a shotgun my love, not a machine gun. Sam- thank you for just staring at him for a few minutes, contemplating whether or not to point it out before ducking under all the bullets- even tho he’s been shooting for a while longer than you ducked, nicely done
“The other one…” AJ has no idea…
“And scene- thank you.” the pure relief-
AJ casually asking Sam if thats his drink before getting his actual drink- they’re so cute
Anyway that concludes todays one- thank you!!!
Also- this show had the best Sam faces- amazed that his besties can be just as unhinged as him sometimes- hes great at the random comments that completely transform a scene (cough cough, disciplinary meeting comments, cough cough) and then does an awesome job at pretending to be shocked/amazed/horrified when the others do the same- its hilarious- anyway thanks for reading!
@dawn-speckled @snek-of-eden hope you guys enjoy!

After thinking for a bit about this, I am ready to share my opinion on this question (because this is a good question)
Connor's character, depending on how you play, is cold, toxic, manipulative. He's not sweet and innocent like everyone wants to portray him as (I myself am guilty). To him, violence can be a means to an end. He has a mission, and he states that he will do whatever it takes to accomplish that mission. If he has to sacrifice some people along the way, he will. This can be seen in The Hostage (you can save or abandon the injured officer), The Nest (you can risk Hank in order to catch the deviant), and even when he breaks into Cyberlife (sacrifice Hank to free other androids). There's so many more, but those are ones I thought of immediately. To Connor, violence is a faster way to get things done. No beating around the bush. He wants results and he wants them now.
Kara is different. To me, she is on the same spectrum (NOT THE SAME LEVEL AT ALL) as North. North hates humans because of her experience (which is hundred percent understandable). In a way, Kara might feel this as well. She knows Todd broke her before. She saw the drawing where Alice was bleeding. The logical connection is that Todd abused/still abuses Alice and her as well. She has the option to shoot Todd out of self-defense, for herself and Alice. Her whole goal now is to keep Alice safe, but at the same time she can totally disregard Alice. Depending on how you play, you can be a doting mother or just another abuser. I think because of the "Battered woman syndrome" or whatever she might be experiencing, Kara is looking out for number one. In the end, she doesn't want anyone to break her again and she will do whatever it takes in order to stay alive, even if it means sacrificing others.
And then there's Markus. This one is tricky. He can be peaceful or violent, like the other two. He has good enough reason to be violent. He was misunderstood and shot, sees the way humans treat androids, and wants his people to live in peace. So why does everyone hate that option for him when Connor and Kara can be embraced in their violence? Markus has more reason to be angry and violent and destructive, so why be peaceful? I don't think it's because of Carl, or just because he's the deviant leader. He even states in a peaceful route that his people's sacrifice will help them. So, he's clearly willing to sacrifice others to reach his end goal.
But, if we think real-world, we can find a pattern. Waco, Ruby Ridge, and others. What do they have in common? Violence vs. Violence which ended in massacres. More people perished than should have, but the government had the support of the people until after everything happened. And, in the game, if that happened, there would be no more androids left to live in peace and freedom. Meanwhile, peaceful protests like the civil rights movement and women's rights movements, were met with more gratuity. They succeeded where violence did not.
In Markus's mind, peace was statically a better option. However, you do always have the option to change routes. He can still choose violence at any point. He can get tired and fed up with losing his people with no result. He can fight. But "an eye for an eye and the world goes blind." Players understand this and want peace. No one wants to see protesters harmed or see all out warfare. It happens, but we don't want to see it. We all understand that if an innocent, unarmed protester is harmed, we will sympathize with the cause of the protester. It's happened time and time again. So, while violence is an option for Markus and while it does work, most won't play that route because Markus and the player feel as though they will be more successful if they are the innocent, unarmed protester being harmed. That is what sways public opinion.
Now, this is all just me blabbering about what I see and feel. This is my opinion, crucify me if anyone wants to. This was my thought, my feeling. This isn't the fandom, or anything else, just a cooped-up person with an opinion.
I want a simple, quick and in the face answer.
Why is "violence" ok with Kara and Connor (also always justified by something) but Markus not? Cuz he's the android leader? Cuz of his bias towards Carl?
I won't accept "plot convenience" or "Cuz the writer is dumb" type of answer.

Every now and then I see the discourse circulate on this hellsite, and I wonder if people know that the term 'yandere' used to have an extremely specific definition that no longer holds up to how people use it today
#I'm old enough to remember the original 'yangiri' discourse someone help me.#I don't have answers for this okay it's one of those things where if enough time and people change the definition of something there's not#much can be done about it. This isn't a call to action or anything. Just an old person talking from a rocking chair.#There's a reason I call what I write 'soft' but it's actually a lot closer to 'classic'.#Anyway that very specific original definition was something like: “so in love it made them sick”#Which often got interpreted as “insecure” or “overprotected” depending on the genre.#A big part of the ending would be either the yan killing themself; their competition; or -- and this is not a joke--#“true love would cure them”#(I don't like that one. I like it when the darling manipulates their yan but that's my personal predilection.)#You can see why some authors might play that for laughs instead of drama#in a uhhhhh sitcom-ish kind of way. Overbearing wife. Guard dog husband. Be careful. He bites.#Anyway the whole “yans hurting their darlings” wasn't unheard of but it wasn't common either? It was an outburst at the world#not an outburst at the love interest. Why won't they just let us be together? I'll make them! They can't get in between us!#At least hurting the darling wasn't the point. Yans aren't meant to be a 1 to 1 for being in an abusive relationship.#It's more about what if someone has too many emotions for one person and they're overflowing.#I dunno. Whenever I hear younger yan fans talk about it it's like “don't quote the scripture at me” kind of feeling#“That's not what yandere is” I was into yandere before you could read. Back when we had dial-up. Leave me alone in my retirement home.#And this is not a kink shaming thing if you're into the whole show of force because of whatever horror-based reason that's your thing#I get it. I really do. But this one is an actual rant about missing the point of the original text:#The whole thing about breaking legs to keep someone around actually meant something when it was a teenage girl trying to dominate a much#larger boy or man. When it's a man doing it to a girl it looses the meaning of the text. Like I get that for most people that's not what#they're going for. But the original usage was doing something. It was supposed to make the powerful feel powerless.#(and to remind people teenage girls are terrifying)#Cricket is Chirping 🦗

listen...listen... idk man i didn't expect downfall to hit me as hard as it did. but i'm at the end of ep101 and i have cried more maybe than during any other part of this story...and what a story within a story downfall is
it's about faith, the faith the mortals have in the gods and that the gods have in mortals, the faith in their creations, in and for their love of each other. and there is something so moving and intoxicating and emotional about that depiction, of gods deciding to become mortals to achieve an end goal, but of learning how much mortals love and feel and suffer
just the love between them all, everyone depicted. the wildmother and the lawbearer... the emissary.... trist and ayden, the everlight and the dawnfather... fucking just....everyone
idk man this sort of tragic story really just gets me so so so fucking bad, it hits me in such a unique way
#i am. so emo#cassida reaching out for the help of a god in a city that would kill her for prayer because her son is dying#betrayer gods and prime deities working together#asmodeus--ASMODEUS becoming who he is because he took the brunt of the force of their ship coming to exandria#the emissary being sent out ahead of the lawbearer because she could not bear to be unable to break her own rules if she had to save her wi#the way noshir's voice changed before the matron of ravens and he genuinely was a child#the way the lawbearer held the hand of her wife and asked the wildmother to tell her everything about her brave child#the way trist tried to hold onto her husband and children for as long as she fucking could. this mortal life she'd made#just...the matron of ravens being the matron of ravens. being kind.#the fact that the dawnfather was a fifteen year old boy#i am actively crying right now post episode#it's not a bells hells episode and i have missed them SO much but holy shit i think this six hour long insane episode has been my favorite#my favorite of the entire campaign#might even end up being of all of cr point blank eventually we'll see#not to mention the INSANE combat and roles#abubakar???? INSANE. what a fucking guy#silaha was a blast and the meteor swarm was unbelievable#the fact that nick knew the mechanics INSIDE AND OUT???#i'd literally watch it again just to pay attention to how he maneuvers the layers of abilities and stats#anyway im so weak right now#going to go through everything for those eps in the tags now#critical role#personal
