hollywood u never specified what addison’s mother is sick with, or if it’s terminal; just that she’s really sick, right? rather, that she has been really sick (for a while). personally, i’ve always read it as if it were terminal. lmao not surprising. anyway you know what that means *hits her with dead parent beam*
#i know her and shae bond over it too at some point#i’ll be honest her mom has cancer to me and i’m making her die#nothing against mrs. sinclair that’s just how life is. you accept it with time. anyway this is important because i think it happens#around the time addison and claire are not speaking#<- i think they’re on really bad terms too. like. they had a really bad fight really ugly things were said by both of them#their friendship is basically over (that’s what both think). because it gets Personal really really quick (as it often does with claire)#theyvstart fighting because claire hid her relationship from addison/claire lied to addison/addison thinks she’s been insincere this#entire time and then it quickly transforms into Something Else. Resentment is a terrible feeling and my god how it festers.#so that’s the context of their relationship and then i think addison receives the news her mother Will Die. and then claire abandons#everything to be by her side. they don’t ever talk about it (this) but they do talk about Their Fight and Stuff afterwards#<- plus relating to addison i think it’d be cool to explore the whole thing of her mom not knowing she changed majors. because in my canon#addison is not starring in anything after she changes major lmao. that plotline is stupid sorry. i already said NO studio plotline HERE. an#majors*#it includes this. but also because i think it makes things more complicated and i want to think about it. does she tell her mother at any#point? if she doesn’t how does that make addison feel after her mothers death? is she guilty forever? is she okay with it because her mom#died ‘happy’? how does grieving her mother impacts her work?#<- also addison not starring in anything besides ticket to ride of course. i meant according to canon and that plotline. and that’s the onl#thing she’s in after that. addi is exclusively a designer to me for (industry) Reasons#i don’t want character having an easy way out. i want them to live with the consequences to their actions. good and bad.#characters * sorry it’s 8 am and i haven’t slept#anyway that’s what i’ve thought so far. i love killing a character and having the living dealing with it#that happens with hunt and claire too and i think it’s funny. we’ll talk about it another time

cats in the cradle by Duck_Life
Fandoms: Supernatural [Gen, No Archive Warnings Apply] Words: 1,745
Tags: Claire Novak & Patience Turner, Cats, Psychic Abilities, Grandparents & Grandchildren, Friendship, Found Family, claire novak will see a stray animal and be like, is anyone gonna project onto this, and not wait for an answer
Summary: Claire helps Patience hone her abilities. Patience helps Claire track down a cat.
Written for SPN Women Week Day 1. Prompt: "skills"
Bub is missing again.
“Bub” is the name of a mean stray cat missing a chunk from his ear. Claire’s been leaving cat food out for the ugly old thing for weeks now, and whenever he doesn’t come running she panics.
So, for the third time, Patience finds herself enlisted in the search for a cat that Claire doesn’t even technically own. “If it’s gonna bother you this much every time,” Patience says, “why don’t you just take it in? You know, get him his shots, a collar, a microchip.”
Claire makes a face at her before turning back to look at the road. She’s been driving around the neighborhood slowly, scoping out every shrub and checking under every parked car. “Bub doesn’t want to be chained down,” she explains. “He’s a free spirit.”
Alright, well, Patience is too tired to unpack that right now. She lets it lie and looks out the passenger’s side window, alert for any signs of movement. “Maybe he was never a stray at all,” she tries, “and his owner finally tracked him down and brought him home.”
“Do you know that?” Claire asks.
Claire’s always asking if Patience knows things— what happened on Jody’s date last weekend, what Dean’s middle name is, whether or not Alex is the one who ate the last ice cream sandwich in the freezer. Patience keeps trying to explain that she can only see the future. “Psychic” might be a misnomer— her abilities are precognitive, not telepathic.
She basically gets previews, little spoilers about what’s to come. And though she’s been working at it, she can’t seem to get her psychic abilities to do the kind of reading and divination her grandma could do. She gets glimpses with no context, no backstory.
Missouri Moseley could walk into a room and feel every ounce of heartbreak, grief, hope and faith in the people standing there. Patience can barely pick up on it when Alex and Claire are pissed at each other.
Still, Claire brings her along whenever the cat goes missing. Seems to think her ESP can home in on missing animals. Patience keeps telling her otherwise, and yet here she is, once again. That’s the trouble with having no social life and no better plans.
Maybe she should join a book club.
Claire rounds the corner, eyes darting around for any sight of the mangy cat. The first time Bub vanished from Claire’s sight, all the neighbors seemed intent to help. They explained they hadn’t seen the cat, but hoped Claire would find him soon and offered baked goods and platitudes in the meantime.
But these things have an expiration date. You can only lose the cat so many times before the routine gets old and the neighbors lose interest.
“My educated guess ?” Patience sighs. “The cat’ll come back when it gets hungry. Just like before.”
Claire makes a tch sound and mouths “educated guess” under her breath. Apparently, because Patience is psychic she’s supposed to be omniscient. “So which is it?” Claire says. “Is he back with his real’ owners or is he going to come home when he gets hungry?”
“Don’t be a jerk,” Patience says. “I’m here, aren’t I? I’m helping you.”
“... Yeah. You are,” Claire says, ducking her head. “Sorry.” Her eyes scan the road ahead, looking for the telltale streak of a cat darting out from under a parked car or vanishing around a tree trunk. Still nothing. “Hey, Patience the Pet Psychic,” Claire says. “You should write that down, that’d be a great children’s book.”
“Very funny,” Patience says, rolling her eyes. She’s silent for a few moments and then says, “Cla-aire the Monster Slayer.”
“That doesn’t really rhyme.”
“Sure it does.”
When the sky darkens and the streetlights flick on, Claire drives them back to the house, Bub-less and dejected. “I’m sure he’s fine,” Patience tries.
Claire bunches her shoulders, the collar of her leather jacket looking like a cat’s raised hackles. Maybe, Patience thinks, that’s the connection— Claire in many ways resembles an angry cat. She and Bub might be kindred spirits.
“I’m just tired,” Claire says, yanking the keys out of the ignition. “We’ll try again tomorrow.”
Patience considers pointing out that Claire could at least ask instead of just assuming , considers reminding Claire that she has her own life outside of playing “pet psychic.”
But she doesn’t actually have anything to do tomorrow. Or the rest of the week. And as futile as it feels riding around looking for a runaway cat, it is something to do. And it makes Claire feel better.
And… straining her psychic muscles to pick up on any trace of the old tomcat is at least better than doing nothing and letting her abilities degrade. Over the last year, she’s been trying to find ways to train her brain, shape her psychic visions into something useful.
Jody’s supportive, but she, like most people, doesn’t know anything about being psychic. Kaia’s got a fraught relationship with her own special skills and usually chooses not to talk to Patience about seeing the future, and Alex is so entrenched in nursing and hunting that the few “normal” moments she gets at home are devoted to unwinding and relaxing.
Which makes Claire Patience’s most ardent supporter in developing her psychic abilities. A very grouchy, blonde and mostly clueless Yoda. What she lacks in background knowledge she makes up for in persistence.
“Hey, Patience, guess which hand?” Claire will ask, holding the last fortune cookie behind her back. “Hey, Patience, what number am I thinking of?” Claire will ask, perched on the arm of the couch. “Hey, Patience, heads or tails?” Claire will ask, flipping a coin to catch it in midair.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of it works— Patience can’t predict things at will. Her psychic visions operate on a schedule of their own, with no concern for Patience’s own convenience or comfort. One minute, she’s watching shitty reality TV while Alex nods off on her shoulder. The next, she’s watching Jody narrowly avoid being bitten by a vampire.
It’s a lot different from just guessing a coin toss. Still. Patience can’t help but think that her grandma would’ve passed all of Claire’s little tests with flying colors.
That night, Patience doesn’t dream about anything— at least, not anything useful. She has an anxiety dream about being lost in Aldi, roaming the aisles with increasing frustration. But nothing about the future. Nothing about Bub the cat.
She’s pouring herself a bowl of cereal when Claire stomps inside, the porch door swinging shut behind her. “Still gone,” she says darkly, grabbing the cereal box and her own bowl. “Food hasn’t been touched.”
“Claire,” Patience says, “why don’t we just go to the SPCA? You can get yourself a cat that’s not, you know—”
“What? Not damaged? Not a lost cause? Not hard to love?”
Whoa, Patience wants to say. “A cat that’s not missing ,” she finishes. “We can get him his shots and a collar and everything.”
“I don’t— I don’t just want some random cat,” Claire says. “I want to find Bub. I want… I want to find him and bring him home. I have to bring him home.”
“I know,” Patience says, and just like that she does . She does know.
She knows everything, feels everything, the aching loss in Claire’s bones that’s both recent and so, so old. Memories of Claire hitchhiking and stealing and conning her way through the country, desperately chasing a mother who was desperately chasing a dead man. Jimmy Novak’s voice in her head, his face seen through Claire’s eyes, Please, Castiel, take me. Just take me. Again, his forehead pressed to hers, Take care of your mom, okay, bub?
Bub.
Patience looks at Claire. Sees her, in a way she hasn’t been able to see anyone before. “Bub… ‘bub’ is what your dad used to call you.”
Claire squints at her. “Uh. Yeah,” she says. “Wait, I didn’t… I didn’t tell you that.”
“No,” Patience breathes, meeting her eyes across the kitchen, “you didn’t.”
Slowly, a grin spreads across Claire’s face. “Holy shit , Patience, you just… ? You just did that. You, like, read me.”
“I, uh, I didn’t know. That I could do that,” Patience says, caught between marveling at this new development and feeling self-conscious at intruding on Claire’s emotions and her past.
Claire doesn’t seem put off at all. She’s actually bouncing with excitement. “We gotta test this out. Oh my God. It’s like a whole new Pokemon evolution for you.”
“It’s not really. Like that. In any way.”
But Claire is already humming the Pokemon theme song. She grabs her car keys. “Alright, well, let’s go look for that cat. I’ve got a good feeling about today.”
“I read you, Claire, that doesn’t mean I can read the cat,” Patience reminds her.
“Yeah, yeah, but you can still help me look,” Claire says. “I don’t need your third eye, just the two on your face.”
“That’s… yeah, fine,” Patience acquiesces. To be honest, she’s buzzing with the knowledge of what she can do with her powers. If Claire’s happy to be her test subject, she’ll spend all day with the girl. “Just let me grab a coffee.”
“Ooh, me too. Wait!” She wiggles her fingers toward Patience. “Do you Know how I like my coffee?”
“Half-and-half. And enough sugar to kill you,” Patience reels off. “But that’s not because I’m psychic. I’ve just seen you fix yourself coffee before.”
“Y’know, I think the line between ‘psychic’ and ‘observant’ is thinner than you might think.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Patience says, and then pretends to stumble backward toward the table, overacting the part. “Oh, oh, I’m having a vision… I see you … making coffee for us…”
Claire rolls her eyes, but she dutifully sets her keys down and busies herself with getting the travel mugs out. “That’s not gonna work for everything, you know.”
“Aaah I see you bringing Jody’s suit to the dry cleaners next week. I also see you driving me to the science museum.”
“Hilarious.”
Patience smiles at her. It’s nice to have someone else get excited about her powers. It’s nice to be allowed to be excited about this, to learn a new skill and have it mean something good to someone besides herself. She doesn’t feel like a freak or a failure. She just feels… like a psychic.
She feels like her grandma would be proud.

*THE* mean-girl-dean-girl's Supernatural reboot MEGAPOST!
I'm gonna stick a little "keeping reading" here because hoooooo boy, this is a very long post.
Let's start with
Plot
Season 1
Dean kills John while they are out on a hunt in a crime of passion, but Dean doesn't remember because he blacked out. Cue Dean going to Stanford to get Sam and tell him "Dad's on a hunting trip... and he hasn't been home in a couple days."
The audience doesn't know what happened to John, but slowly figures it out with Dean and Sam as Dean slowly remembers what happened that night.
The entire first season, the boys are following the trail John left and fighting monsters as well. They find out Dean was with John, Sam realizes Dean has an unreliable memory, they have heart to hearts about their childhood and the fire, they find John's body, "how could you kill Dad?" but maybe Dean didn't kill dad, whooaaaaaa, misdirection.
It was actually good ole yeller eyes (Azazel) and he made it look like Dean killed John.
Okay, now let's move on to the first episode
Not sure how the opening would work, I would like the story of the fire to be revealed over the course of the first season, but maybe the opening scene could be a little bit of an establishing character relationships and backstory, idk, I haven't thought that far yet.
I'm thinking maybe it's like, Dean gets back to a motel room covered in blood and he listens to a voicemail on his phone from John saying he was on a hunt or something, I don't really know lol.
HOWEVER
I do know that after the intro rolls, we get a scene of Sam waking up to his alarm and "Nine to Five" by Dolly Parton starts playing.
Y'all know where this is going.
Cue a montage of Sam's normal Stanford college life (him sitting through lectures, walking through the campus with friends) spliced with scenes of Dean absolutely slaughtering a nest of vampires (or some other monsters, whatever works best.)
But
Now onto
Characters!!! (And descriptions)
Dean Winchester
Some lovely person on this site made edits of Dean with platinum blond hair and it made me feel some kind of way so we're doing that, homie's gonna have platinum blond hair
Side note about the hair, later when the brothers are running from the FBI he dyes it a dirty blond/light brown (insert jackles hair color controversy here) as a disguise.
He also gets tattoos because we were robbed.
Speaking of tattoos, concept: when Dean comes back from Hell, all of his tattoos are gone. His body is a clean slate, devoid of tattoos, scars, etc. So he gets his tattoos done all over again, which he doesn't mind because he made some bad, drunk tattoo decisions in his youth.
(And before you ask, yes, he does get one for Cas, either a bee or Cas's name in enochian, something cute.)
Dean goes to therapy after Sam gets sent to the Cage.
It's actually court mandated because he got in trouble, lol, he would never go to therapy on his own.
Along with the hair, Dean gets to be the grade A twunk we all know he is.
Sam Winchester
His hair gets longer in every scene he's in
No jk, but imagine
King of Microaggressions
Sam starts off like the sweetheart he is in season 1 but in later seasons he starts enjoying killing a little too much...
It's that demon blood, ba-by!!!
He brings up issues of morality to Dean, i.e. killing monsters who aren't hurting anyone. (Yes I know this is contradictory to my previous statement, but these two facets of Sam can and will coexist.)
Sam and Jess's relationship is explored further, meaning we'll need to start with a different inciting incident, but that's fine, I think everyone can agree fridgings are *(thumbs down)*
Sam doesn't truly know what happened the night of the fire until later, and then he understands why Dean is so protective of him.
Jess
She gets to live beyond the first episode
She is also trans
No, I don't feel like I have to explain myself and I won't 💜
She urges Sam to join Dean in a search for their brother, kind of gets pulled into the hunter lifestyle by association lol.
She dies on a rusty nail after fighting vampires on a routine hunt with Sam
No jk!!!
But imagine....
She's amazing and I love her and Lucifer also uses her as leverage against Sam and possesses her because I think that'd be cool.
She supports Sam 100% and also she and Dean are buddies, pals if you will.
She meets Cas Thee El and immediately she Knows, that is a homosexual.
She dies still so that we can have a Saileen Endgame but she's not dying the first episode or in a fridging. Not on my watch.
Castiel
He gets to keep his raw, light-fixture-exploding power.
I want more of that "I pulled you out of hell, I can throw you back in" energy except over dumb shit like Dean not cleaning up after himself.
He looks like a Dilf in every scene he's in, yeah, that's right, dilf with a capital D for *(GUNSHOTS)* *(gets sent to horny jail)*
Claire
She gets pink hair
And more time with Cas
And maybe a nose piercing
Feel like she should be able to kill a couple angels onscreen, punch a couple homophobes
She gets to meet Jack and teaches him swears and fun slang words.
She deserves it.
Jack
I says "that's my baby and I'm proud."
Jack starts off as a baby, but like Amara he grows up super quickly.
Like, baby to 11 year old in a couple days or less.
This is because Jack's emotional age on the show is on par with that of a 5th grader.
It's at this point when he's a young kid that he runs away from the Bunker and shenanigans ensue.
It's also at this point that Dean threatens to k*ll him.
(Still not sure if I want that in my Supernatural (threatened infanticide? In my Supernatural? It's more likely than you think) but we'll see. We'll see.)
Throughout a majority of season 13, Jack is like an 11 y.o. kid
Season 14 he's like a 16 y.o. teenager
Season 15 he's 21, you get the picture.
Listen, I love Alex Calvert a lot. He's great.
But Jack is a child and should be a child.
Kelly Kline
Kelly, baby, stay right where you are, you're perfect.
Eileen
SHE DOESN'T DIE
SHE GETS TO BE IN THE FINALE BECAUSE SHE'S AMAZING AND I LOVE HER.
BLURRY WIFE WHO? I ONLY KNOW SAILEEN ENDGAME!
She teaches Claire and Jack swears in sign-language. Castiel is not impressed.
John
J*hn W*nchester stans, DNI.
He's dead.
We only see him in flashbacks and only sometimes hear his voice in voice overs.
He's not "down the road" from Dean in Heaven, in fact he instead gets to wander around in some Purgatory like Hell for the rest of his time :)
People who get to say "fuck" on the show:
Cas (but only Once)
Jody
Bobby
Now onto other things
I want more of
Ghostfacers
(they need more screentime because I love them)
Dean/Benny
We know they had a thing.
They definitely had a thing.
Demon Dean
Again, I feel like more should've been done with this. All that build up for what, 2 episodes? was not utilized well at all.
Dean's Bisexuality
Straight Dean truthers DNI, my Supernatural is a show about love and being true to yourself
You think Supernatural is a show about 2 straight brothers fighting monsters?
Naw bitch, this is a show about the Gay Experience
He will get to have relations with men on this show.
Of course, only after John dies does he, y'know, display it. Maybe he kisses Cas on his dad's grave just to fuck John over, make him roll in grave.
We all agree John would be/is a homophobe piece of shit, right?
Okay, glad we're on the same page.
Dads
3 men and a baby with Jack is what I'm saying.
I love it when the Trio are father-figures to younger troubled characters they see themselves in, even better if it's like reluctant-but-loving father figure, oh, that trope gets me every time :'^)
Dadstiel and DadDean are my favorites, but I like it when Sam plays "Uncle Sam" to kids too lol.
"Fellas, is it gay to want a tight knit family with your husband, his son, his vessel's daughter, your brother, his wife, your cop mother figure and her wife and their adopted daughters? Asking for a friend."
Garth
Biggest flaw of Supernatural was underutilizing Garth.
I will never not be bitter that Garth was only in like, 7 episodes out of the whole 15 season series.
Every episode with Garth gets immediately 5 times better.
I love Garth.
Follow ups on characters who had entire episodes featured around them and then just... vanished???
This is mostly about Jesse, the magic kid whose imagination ruled an entire town like, his daddy was a demon and nothing came of that kid??? Only one episode about him?? No follow up???
KID CAN MANIPULATE REALITY AND WE'RE NOT GONNA GET A FOLLOW UP ON THAT?????
Uh, there was that one episode with Ennis the guy whose girlfriend was killed by a monster? I think?? Who we never see again, that was weird.
Tamara from season 3, episode 1.
And of course-
Cassie
She was so cool, and then we never saw her again :////
She gets to be a badass.
Religious imagery
As a former Catholic school student who has become for the most part, disillusioned with religion, religious imagery in TV shows like Supernatural make my brain go "brrrrrr."
Fun episodes!!!
Like, after season 6 or so, there's a drop in funny episodes
I'm talking Changing Channels, The French Mistake type stuff. (Scoobynatural is an outlier and should not be counted.)
So anyway
In my version we would have more fun episodes
I'm thinking
GENDER-SWAP EPISODE, BABY!!
(why they didn't do that in the original, we'll never know.)
An episode where Dean gets to wear eyeliner
That's it, end of post.
I want less
Racism
Yeah I feel like this is self explanatory, nearly every reoccurring character in SPN is white, and black side characters normally die in the episode they first appear in, or they'll be featured as a villain (Uriel, Raphael, Billie, etc)
Also there's a lot of... uh... asian fetishism featured in the show (what with "Busty Asian Beauties) that's really gross, also Kevin was a bit of a stereotype...
Also also it's super yucky how they kill the gods from other religions like???? Uh??? That's super disrespectful, let's not do that????
I know Supernatural is like, inherently racist because monsters are a separate race that are seen as some dangerous "other" that must be eradicated by hunters in a form of genocide-
Okay we won't get into that but
Still
Stop killing all your POC
Fridgings/Unecessary murders of female characters
I know Supernatural starts with a fridging, so this will be a hard thing to remedy, but
One death that really pissed me off was the death of Charlie
Yeah, that was pointless and we're not doing that. Charlie gets to live and be an awesome aunt to Jack.
And also Claire
Charlie Bradbury Superiority
Charlie and Garth get to meet because they're nerd/geek solidarity.
British Men of Letters
I fucking hate these guys
They're "litcherally" the worst.
The worst part is that the actors they have playing the British AREN'T. EVEN. BRITISH.
And you can tell
Uh, and that's all for now, I'll add more later.
tag list for people who liked my "if this post gets one like I'll post my SPN reboot masterpost" post.
@darianyunidi @sarasidlesaid @crazybananaalpaca @playfulpanthress @ultfreakme @fififeelsmellow @heller-char @luna8eaton @princessmeganfire @insanebot109 @queenofnightsnow @mongoose-underthehouse
Thank you for the support, hope the wait was worth it.

A Weird Fever Dream Pt.2 (Jared Padalecki X Reader
Second Chapter!! Once again it will make sense in the next few chapters so if it seems like a full Sam Winchester fic it can be if people want this storyline to continue, but in the next chapter it’ll be the Actors p.o.v of the episode
Tumblr media
“BLAIRE? DEAN?” Sam had called out for his brother and his friend. He hasn’t gotten any responses from them in the last ten minutes that he has called their names. He’s been in the library trying to help them with solving the vamp case for tomorrow. Since then he’s been walking around the bunker looking for them. “CAS? JACK?” None of the angels were answering either.
Sam knew he shouldn’t be focusing on his current life when he’s a hunter but the fact that it had happened didn’t seem to faze any of his friends. They’ve all met Kiana and they’ve all seemed to take a liking to her. Everyone except you, he’s seen the signs that you didn’t like her but he thought you were always like that, skeptical and walls high. Kiana had given her number to Sam about two months ago and since then the whole ‘relationship’ thing had blown between them.
“Guys it’s not funny, where is everyone?” He asked again to a very empty bunker. He passed the garage door and opened it expecting to see the impala parked in it’s original spot but it wasn’t.
He didn’t mean to scare you off by asking what he needed. You were the only ‘female’ in the bunker with them and you understood the others better than he did. Sam remembers the first day he had met you, Dean went out to the bar and came back with a hunter who had been injured, that hunter had been you. Throughout the whole week you’d stayed with them Sam and you had become good friends. He thinks after tonight, he has ruined the friendship between the both of you.
“Hey Claire, big question,” he sighed out. “Can you contact Blaire?”
“What have you done Winchester?” She asked. Claire had taken a liking to you too, you weren’t like the other hunters, you cared about peoples feelings over yours.
“I don’t know,” he replied dragging his hand through his hair. “Dean, Cas, and Jack are also gone,”
“They might be on a hunt, Sam,” Claire explained. “She texted me a few days ago saying that you guys might have found a vamp nest nearby,”
“We agreed to go next week though?” Sam said looking in your room. It was neater than the day you crashed in it.
“They might have left early Sam, they’ll be back soon,” Claire said trying to calm him down.
“Yeah, yeah okay,” Sam said looking in your closet making sure you didn’t take everything.
“If you want people to stay with we’re always a 30 minute drive away,” Claire offered. “Yeah I might pop by tomorrow morning, thanks Claire,” he said.
“Anytime,” she replied before hanging up.
Your room was always a mess wether it was from pizza boxes that Dean handed over or with the plastic wrap on those video games that you liked. Your crystals that Rowena had given you stood on a windowsill and were placed in the correct order that Rowena had taught you and Jack’s photo of everyone in the bunker was now in a frame on the table beside your bed. He felt like he was snooping around in your room, like a concerned parent trying to look for things that their kids shouldn’t have in their possession. The photo he had gotten you was next to Jack’s , he assumed that the two of you were still on good terms. His phone rang and he answered it without looking at who it was, hoping it was Dean or you.
“Dean, when are you guys coming back,” Sam started hoping nothing went wrong on the hunt.
“Not your brother Sam,” Kiana said laughing. Sam didn’t want to talk to her at the moment, he was more worried about his friends.
“Hey Ki,” He said trying to match her energy.
“Want to hit up the bar tonight?” She asked. Sam wanted to say yes so badly but he couldn’t.
“I can’t tonight, family friend is coming over for dinner,” He said, which wasn’t a total lie. He would just have to get to Jody’s faster.
“That’s totally fine, tell them I say hi okay,” she said. The image of you flashed in Sam’s head, Kiana sounded like you for a split second.
“Yeah I will, see you soon,” Sam said hanging up. The only thing on his mind his you right now because the last thing he did think about was the argument you both had. His phone rang again and this time he looked before answering. It was Cas.
“Just checking in on you Sam,” Cas said trying to see if his friend was okay.
“How’s the hunt going?” Sam asked. Cas gave a sign in response and had to think about his answer.
“”From what Dean’s told me Blaire has been crying non stop and he has no clue why,” Cas explained. “Jack just passed out about a minute ago and as of this moment, Dean’s taken Blair on a drive to clear her mind,”
“Wow, well umm can you tell Dean that I’m going to visit Jody,” Sam said. He heard something else come on the line. It was Dean.
“Hey man she’s out but I don’t know for how long,” Dean said slightly muffled.
“She’ll be okay in the morning,” Cas replied also slightly muffled.
“Who’s on the phone?” Dean asked.
“It’s Sam,” Cas said. He could hear Dean’s silent judging and being cautions of what he was going to say.
“Don’t tell her you contacted him okay, she’s still pretty riled up about it,” Dean said before answering the phone to talk to Sam himself.
“Hey Sammy, what’s up?” Dean asked. The previous comment still lingered in Sam’s mind.
“Nothing, I’m heading over to Jody’s either tonight or tomorrow morning,” Sam said.
“Why? Don’t tell me she’s got another case,” Dean started.
“No no it isn’t a case, just want to spend time with my friends,” Sam explained to his brother.
“We’re coming home tomorrow so should we just meet you at Jody’s” Dean said.
“If you want too,” Sam said now holding his phone between his shoulder now in his room and piling up his cleanest clothes and throwing them in a duffle bag.
“Well we’ll meet you there then,” Dean said. Sam didn’t really reply to that other than saying a quiet ‘ okay’ before hanging up on the call.
Dean took her on a drive and came back saying that Sam was causing the problem. She was always totally fine, never really caring about what everyone said but for once she cared. For once Sam saw her without the wall around herself.

Chaos, mayhem and craziness, that was what surrounded you.  Currently you were hiding in your old room in the bunker trying to get away.  Unfortunately the knock at the door told you that they found you again.  Charlie, Donna, and Jody, all of whom you had renamed in your head, hurried in. They were trying to help get everything ready for the wedding in a few days.  They all had an opinion on how it should be, the problem was, their opinion didn’t match yours.
Chaos, I mean Charlie thought you should do a Star Wars theme. They women could all dress like Princess Leia and the guys Jedi, with the robes and hoods. You think you just about had her talked out of it.  You had told her if that was what she wanted to wear, go right ahead, but she would be the only one.
Mayhem, oh miss Donna wanted you to learn square dancing.  She was also hoping for big dresses with these crazy bows, and so so many ruffles.  You told her she was more than welcome to have one herself.  At this rate it was going to be more like a costume party than a wedding.  You mentioned to Donna you didn’t think Dean was going to learn square dancing this week for the wedding, but if she wanted to show people that night it was fine.
Craziness, bless her heart. Jody’s ideas were probably the closest to what you were thinking.  After you lost your parents you spent most of your time at Bobby’s before going off hunting with Dean.  You saw Jody as a mom figure, and she knew the inner girl you kept hidden.  You just didn’t want to make things as grand as she did.  You appreciated everyone’s help, they were just a bit overwhelming when you had them all at once.
You weren’t expecting too many attendees.  Besides the three ladies, Alex and Claire would of course be joining.  Garth and his family would be here, a few other hunters the guys kept in constant contact with also coming.  You expected, but weren’t completely sure Crowely and Rowena would also make an appearance.  Rowena liked you, and the two of you had become friends over the years, even if Dean wasn’t thrilled about it.  Sam was Dean’s best man, Donna your maid of honor.  Since Dean was legally dead, and also wanted for numerous federal crimes a marriage license was out of the question.  Cas was officiating, both you and Dean figured married by an angel would make it legal and binding for the two of you.
Turning your attention back to the three ladies in front of you, you figured it would be wise to see what questions they had this time.
“What are you doing for decorations?”
“Where is the caterer going?”
“Where is your dress”
Jody’s question was the easiest so you started there.  “My dress still needs to be picked up, they finished the last alteration yesterday.”  While hunters don’t often get normal things, one thing you always dreamed about watching chick flicks was a beautiful wedding dress.  When you told Dean you were just going to get a simple dress or wear one you had, he encouraged you to go after your dream one.  He joked about wanting to see you in a big fancy dress in your real wedding pictures, not just your fake ones Sam had made.
As for the decorations, “Dean and I talked, we will move the tables aside in the library and rearrange the chairs for people to sit.  I don’t have any decorations.”
“What nothing?  No fancy lights or even flowers?” Charlie wanted to know.
“No, we figured simpler was easier.”  Charlie just rolled her eyes.
“There aren’t that many of us, we didn’t exactly get a caterer.  There is a restaurant in town we’ve gone to a few times that does party size orders.   We ordered a few dishes to serve 30 that should give us plenty.  Sam or Dean are picking them up the day before the wedding, we just need to reheat it the next day.  Dean joked that we can order pizza later if people are hungry.  Honestly, I don’t care much about any of those things, well other than the dress, but it still isn’t as important as Dean.  End of the day what matters most is actually being together with Dean.  I want to be able to truthfully say he’s my husband.”
They all chuckled at that.  You still had to humor them with a few more answers before they left you alone.  You had about two minutes to yourself when there was a knock on the door.  Turning your head toward the door you saw Dean walking in.
“How’s it going with your wedding army?”
Tumblr media
“Not funny, they are driving me nuts.  I know I said I didn’t want to go to Vegas before, but is that completely off the table now?”
“Personally, I wouldn’t want to face the wrath of those 3 if they found out we eloped now, but if you really want to Baby is gassed and ready to go.”
“UGGHH, you’re right, we would never hear the end of it now.”
“I’ll talk to them, see if I can get them to calm down.”
“Thank you, Honey, you're the best.”
After giving you a kiss your fiance left to try and wrangle in your help. Fiance, what a crazy year you two have had. It started with the fight that had you leaving the bunker and Dean.  Followed by the amnesia and being Dean’s fake wife.  They two of you had been together since the memories returned, you had officially moved into his room.  He didn’t say anything else about a wedding after the comment about getting real pictures so you didn’t push.   A month after all of Dean’s memories of you came back  he took you out to dinner then a walk by a nearby lake.  It was by the lake he dropped down on one knee and asked you to be his wife.  With tears in your eyes you had said yes. Dean didn't want to ever lose you again, hunter’s don’t always have the longest lives so he wasn’t going to waste any more time making you his actual wife.
The next month and half had kept you all pretty busy with hunts, you had not had much time to do anything for the wedding.  One of the few things you two finished was picking out your rings while gone on a case.
Your lack of completed tasks is why the girls are here now trying to help you.  You appreciated the help because honestly the last couple of weeks you hadn’t had a lot of extra energy.  You were thankful Dean hadn’t noticed that yet though.
Dean talked to your three friends and got them to tone everything down a bit. It made the next few days so much easier for you.  The night before your wedding they took you out for your bachelorette party.  You mentioned to them you didn’t want a hangover the next day so you wanted to avoid the alcohol.  They took you out for dinner, and still ended up with a trip to the bar after.  Things went pretty well though, and it was a fun night with the girls.  You weren’t sure what the guys were doing for Dean, but you knew they were hanging around the bunker.  When you made your way from the garage to your old room, you could still hear them in the library.
You know those days where everything that can go wrong will?  That was your wedding day.  It was now 11:30 and the wedding was supposed to be starting at 1, if it ever did.  You could not believe the morning you had had.   Dean and Sam had picked up the food yesterday from the reception. Everything was sealed and labeled just how you had ordered it.  The guys brought it home and put it in the fridge.  This morning when you, Jody and Donna were in the kitchen talking about when to reheat everything and what goes where you took it all out of the fridge, good thing. What was supposed to be an alfredo pasta was, well you weren’t really sure.  It was something slimy.  In the container labeled chicken breasts, raw vegetables, at least those were edible. They would work too since Sam forgot to grab anything to make a salad.  Instead of mashed potatoes you got yams.  The cornbread Dean wanted, just cream corn.
Jody called the restaurant to see if they could fix it and get you the right things.  They were extremely sorry, but could not fix it right now.  Apparently your food got mixed up with another catering they had today for a bigger group.  They were working on fixing that one right now, and it would take a few hours to start on yours.  They told Jody they would be giving you a refund though.  Looks like you’ll be ordering pizza after all.
Leaving the kitchen after that mess you headed up to the library.  The site that met you had you closing your eyes hoping it was all a nightmare.  The guys little bachelor party the night before  looks like it got out of hand.  For some reason there were books everywhere, the tables and chairs all over and as soon as your shoe hit the library floor it stuck to it.  They apparently spilled a bit of alcohol, you could smell it now.  That had you running for the bathroom.  You carefully made your way back to the library, Sam looking around the corner when he heard your approach.
“Hey we were going to come clean this up before you woke up.  Guess we overslept.  Don’t worry about this.  It will straighten up in no time.”
“What about the smell Sam?”
“We’ll find something.”
“What happened in here anyways?”
“Cas might have had a bit too much to drink and he was trying to show off some of his powers.  Didn’t go well as you can tell.  Used too much energy and passed out before we could get him to fix it.”
As you were talking you didn’t notice Charlie and Donna coming behind you.  They were going to finish the cake table and chose to bring the cake out now.  Charlie hit the sticky floor and stumbled. She held her balance until she hit an out of place chair and the cake went flying. Now you had another mess and no cake.  At least you had bought Dean a pie, which Donna was carrying.  Never mind it met the same fate as the cake.  What else could go wrong?
You should not have asked.  After trying to help clean up some of the mess, Jody sent you to shower.  She was going to start your hair after.  You two had practiced your updo a few times and she knew exactly how you wanted it.  Problem was today your hair didn’t realize it was supposed to cooperate.  The half up half down with curls you wanted was mostly down, and extremely limp.  Oh well, it was just hair you told yourself.  While looking in the mirror at the flop on your head someone knocked on the door.  It was Sam.
Tumblr media
“What’s up Sam”
“Is anyone here any good with alterations?”
“What kind, to what and why?” You asked with your eyes narrowing in the mirror.
“Slight problem with the tuxes. Um how do you feel about purple?”
‘What’s wrong with the tuxes?  What’s purple that I need to feel something about? Again why?”
Tumblr media
“Cas’ tux apparently came in purple. Now is the first time he’s opened it.  He must have hit the wrong box.  The alterations are for Dean and I.  My tux is a bit too big, and his is too small.  He can’t even get the coat on.”
“Didn’t you get measured for your tuxes? Why didn’t you try them on before?”
“We sent in our measurements and they sent us things to try on and we told them what fit.  Things have been hectic.  We all thought they would be fine.”
You didn’t say anything just stared straight ahead for a minute.  “I guess your Fed suits will have to work.”
You were hoping to do a few pictures outside before people came, that way you weren’t holding up the reception after.  You had figured if everyone here was ready by 11:30 it gave you time for pictures and to get back to your room before anyone else arrived.
Shortly after 11 Donna and Charlie were helping you into your dress while Jody looked for your shoes.
“I can’t find them anywhere Y/N do you know what they were in?”
They were in a white box.  They were on the counter, I grabbed the dress and Charlie grabbed my shoes.”
“I didn’t carry anything out of the shop.”  The redhead behind you spoke up.
“Did anyone carry the white box out?”
Silence great, you left without your shoes.  You had white flip flops guess that will have to do.  Donna started to zip the back of your dress with Charlie helping when you heard a ripping noise.
“What is that?”
“OH NO!  Y/N, I am so sorry!” Charlie exclaimed.  Apparently she had ended up standing on the dress while they were pulling the zipper and it was enough to tear the fabric in the back.  They unzipped it, while Jody left to see if there was any thread in the bunker to try and sew it up.  Charlie kept apologizing, but you told her accidents happen, and ushered them both out for a few minutes of quiet for yourself.
There was a knock on the door.
“Who is it?”
“Babe it’s me.  Jody told me about all the problems, are you okay? Can I come in”
“NO!  If the only thing that goes right today is the tradition of not seeing the bride then so be it.  You can open the door a smidge, but don’t peak in.”
“Okay, okay.   How are you holding up.”
“I’m beginning to think someone cursed us today.  Who did we piss off now?”
“Just a rough morning, we aren’t cursed this time.  I’m sorry about the mess we made in the library.  We got the spills cleaned up.”
“Does it still smell like beer?”
“Eh, maybe some.”
“Okay.  Thank you for getting the rest ready.”
“Sweetheart, I’m sorry this isn’t the day of your dreams.”
“It’s okay, I’ll survive.   At the end of the day the most important thing is I have you by my side.”
“Always, Sweetheart.  We’re in this together.”
As you and Dean were talking you heard the clank of heels coming down the hall. “Is that Jody coming back?”
“No, it’s Rowena.  Hello Rowena, can I help you?”
“Hello Dean. No, you cannot, I just fancied a word with the bride to be.”
“Dean, be nice.” You whispered out to him
“Fine, I’ll see you out there Sweetheart everything will be fine.”
As Dean walked away you opened the door and let Rowena in.
“I heard from Samual, it’s been a bit of a rough morning for you? That library smells like a brewery.”
“That’s one way to put it.  Not much is going right, the food is wrong, the cake hit the floor, along with Dean’s pie.  The library was a mess this morning.  They cleaned it, but like you said it still smells.  The guy's tuxes don’t fit, Cas’ is the wrong color, I forgot my shoes and my dress ripped.  My hair has decided this will be the day it does it’s own thing.  This isn’t exactly how I thought this day would go.  I guess I should just be happy we haven’t been called for a hunt yet.”
“Sit here and let Rowena see what she can do Lass.”
You had been sitting in your room for about five minutes when Jody and Donna came back. They took your wedding dress and an old pair of shoes and left again. They must have found some thread, not sure what they are doing with the shoes though.  Five minutes later they returned again, much too quickly to have actually sewn the dress.
“Okay, let’s get you dressed,” Jody said.
“Wait, what about the dress? Did you fix it already?”
“We did not.  Your witchy godmother did.  She fixed your dress, shoes, the tuxes, cleaned up the library a bit.”
“Oh my.”  You were speechless.
As they were finishing closing your dress there was another knock at the door. Rowena entered a moment later.
Tumblr media
“You look just about perfect deary.  One more little thing.”
Rowena spoke a few words and you could suddenly feel your hair moving around.  She was fixing that too.
Tumblr media
“Rowena, I’m going to cry thank you so much!”
“No tears today, it’s a happy day.  Even if you are marrying that Winchester.”
“Thank you so much.”  You gave her a hug and she went back out to the library.
You had just enough time to get a few pictures finished before you needed to come back inside.  While Dean was outside getting his pictures with the guys, and ladies, you went to the library.  You could not believe your eyes, Rowena had worked her magic in here also.  It was no longer the library you knew, but a ballroom.  Gone were the bookcases, tables and chairs.  White Chairs were set up for the guests and a beautiful wedding arch where you would say your vows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This is amazing Rowena, I can’t believe you did all this thank you!”
“You are more than welcome.  Alas I can’t take all the credit in here, your fiance made the arch as a surprise for you.”
You couldn’t believe Dean had done that.  It was perfect.  The door opened and Jody came in to see where you were, so Dean wouldn’t see you when he came in.   She ushered him to the hall, then helped you up the stairs. When your pictures were done, she went inside and looked for Dean, to keep him out of the way.  Sam came over to talk to you.
“You look stunning, my brother is one lucky guy.  I’m glad you both came to senses.  I’m glad you decided to come back here.”
“I am too.  Mostly I’m thankful we got our Dean back.”  Sam gave you a hug as you both headed back inside.
Soon it was time for the ceremony to start.  You had asked Jody to walk you down the aisle, being the closest thing you had to a parent.  Dean actually had a tear in his eye when you reached him, and he told you how beautiful you looked. You told him how dashing he was.  The ceremony went much quicker than you imagined.  Both you and Dean reciting traditional vows.  When Cas pronounced you husband and wife Dean grabbed you to him in a longer kiss than you thought he would.  After you walked back down the aisle and people were getting up from their seats, Rowena changed the room to a different setting again.
Tumblr media
The white chairs were now around tables, a buffet line was set up that smelled delicious.  In the corner a beautiful wedding cake, with smaller circles surrounding it on the table.  Upon closer inspection they were mini pies.  You were going to need to hide some of those from Dean so he didn’t get sick.   This was incredible and more than you could imagine, you were going to owe her big for this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Dean spent the afternoon and even talking with guests, dancing and enjoying the wonderful food Rowena provided.  When it came time to cut the cake, you told Dean if he made a mess it would be a long time before you made him another pie.  He took that warning to heart and did his best not to smear it on your face. You doing the same with the piece of pie you cut him.  Dean picked your first dance song, Aerosmith’s "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."  He said he wasn’t missing anymore of your life together.   Most of your guests were crashing at the bunker tonight so it was one long party.  At one point you caught up to Sam.
“Think Rowena could have helped us with Dean a few months ago?”
“Probably, wish we had thought to ask her back then.” You nodded your agreement before going to find your new husband.
You and Dean finally decided to call it a night and head back to your shared room for a little alone time.  There was something you wanted to share with Dean tonight.  Opening the door and turning back to pick you up Dean carried you in and placed you on the bed.  You were staying in the bunker tonight before heading off to your honeymoon.  Dean had actually rented a house on the beach, but far enough away from others you would have some privacy.
“I missed you in my arms last night wife”
“I missed being held close to you, husband. I like being able to honestly call you that now.”
“I love hearing it.  I like the idea of filling those frames with pictures I actually remember.”
“Dean I have something for you.”
“Yeah, is it under your dress”
“Not in the way you're thinking.”
Getting off the bed you went to your dresser and pulled out a gift wrapped box.  As you handed it to him, he told you he didn’t get you anything.  You told him he already did, and just open the box. He tore the paper off and when his eyes shot up to you when he removed the lid.  He looked at you and then back to what you had made for him in the box.
“Really… are you?.. Am I?”  With tears in his eyes he could finish his sentences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Yes, we are going to have a baby, you're going to be daddy.”  He grabbed you and pulled you in for a tight hug before he thought better of it and loosened his grip.  Leaning down his lips met yours in a slow sweet kiss.
“How far along are you?”
“Just about 6 weeks I found out this past week. Cas told me and I swore him to secrecy.”
“You know this means no more hunting for you right?”
“Yes, I kind of figured that.”
Dean leaned down to kiss you again.  It didn’t take long till you were working the buttons on his shirt and he was trying to figure out your dress.  You had to break apart to deal with clothes before coming back together and finishing your wedding night wrapped up in one another.

Dragons Fall and Serpents Rise
AO3 Link Phase 1- Chapter 18
Eemeli and I have been setting up for the weekend art show since my birthing day fiasco. We’ve been allowed to leave classes earlier in order to help Ms. Harper set up the gym with all her class projects. So far, I have yet to be doused in paint again.
“Tired or lost in thought?” Eemeli’s voice came from behind me.
“A little of both?” I sighed, standing the dragons body up and hooking it to supports. “Since the collar was put on, I feel like I’m constantly sleepwalking.”
Eemeli frowned as he carried the dragon head over. “You’re used to your magic constantly flowing, unregulated too.” He reasoned, climbing up a step stool to attach the head.
I nodded, holding the stool steady, “I know, just feels like I’m back to blowing myself off of walls.”
Eemeli paused, looking down at me, a grin slowly spreading across his face. “What? Like Humpty Dumpty?”
Sticking my tongue out at him, I snarled, “The only thing that shattered was the wall. Though, that’s probably because Draal caught me.” I huffed, hitting his leg to keep working.
Laughing, Eemeli turned back to the dragon head, “How many times did you ‘accidentally’ blow something up?”
I tilted my head, thinking back to when we first found the Amulet. “Well, there was Bular when he was chasing us the first night Jim began training. When I thought Draal was going to drop Jim off the side of the forge. Fighting Nomura in the backyard,” pausing, I thought over the last memory. “No, that was definitely on purpose.”
Eemeli let out a howl of laughter, grabbing the handrail of the step stool to keep from falling off as he carefully stepped off. “Of course, you’d try to blow her up! Draal’s ex shows up, and she tries to kill your brother?”
I rolled my eyes, “She drugged my mom and tried to kill Jim, she’s lucky she dodged.” As he calmed down, Eemeli patted my shoulder with a grin. “Your turn up there. Gotta give the dragon fire to breathe.”
Shaking my head, I grabbed the paint canisters and headed up the stool. Carefully opening the mouth of the dragon, I began installing the pain. “What about you? Any funny stories from work?” I asked, not really expecting him to say much.
Eemeli tapped the stool in thought as he held it steady, “Well, there was one job that involved pixies. Terrible little creatures, they mess with your head. I was hunting, had the witch in a corner and she unleashed thousands of the bugs. Thought I was stuck in a circus for days!”
“A circus? Don’t they show your fears?” I asked, glancing down at him.
Eemeli shivered, grasping the stool tightly, “So many clowns.”
A paint canister slipped in my grip, hitting the lower jaw with a loud clang. “You’re scared of clowns?” I asked, staring at Eemeli wide-eyed.
He glared up at me, eyes flashing yellow. “Watch it, they’re all demon I tell you!”
“Did you stay up too late watching IT the night before your hunt?” I snickered, fixing the paint can that slipped.
“What’s IT?” Eemeli asked, causing me to choke on a laugh.
“Don’t watch it! You’ll hate clowns even more!” I burst out in fits of giggles, falling back as I tried to step down from the dragon head.
Eemeli caught me easily, dropping me when I mentioned clowns. “No, we are definitely not watching it!” He snarled, helping me up from the ground.
I doubled over laughing, tears pooling at the corner of my eyes. “You’re a deadly changeling witch hunter that’s scared of clowns!” I gasped out.
Eemeli huffed, “Oh, and you’re not scared of anything?” Crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance as I used him to keep my balance.
Rubbing the tears from my eyes with the heel of my hand, I slowly calmed down, standing up straight. “Well, I used to be scared of the dark growing up. Then I realized I could see pretty well with the lights out.” I snickered, trying to think of a phobia, “Hmm, falling, definitely falling.”
“You’re scared of falling? Isn’t everyone?” Eemeli asked,
I shuddered, the distant feeling of wind rushing by as the memory of a clearing growing closer flashed threw my mind. The spike of fear caused the now-familiar burn of my sclera turning yellow. “Not like falling off a chair, or even down the stairs. More like, falling from the sky, watching the earth grow closer, knowing you won’t survive the impact.” Wrapping my arms tight around my torso, I tried to shake the image from my mind.
Eemeli grabbed my shoulder tight, grounding me to reality. The vision slowly fading back to the gym and the art projects surrounding us. Frowning, Eemeli grabbed the hood of my jacket, pulling it over my head to hide my eyes and teeth as they shifted. “Why does it sound like you’ve experienced that?”
I shrugged, calming down as the memory completely faded. “Not sure, felt real though.” Sighing, I pulled the hood closer over my face. “Looks like we’re waiting this one out.” I sighed, poking at my enlarged canines. “I know Vendel said that heightened emotions will cause them to come up, but this is ridiculous.”
Eemeli snickered, peering into my hood, “You’re right. You do look ridiculous.” He dodged my hand as I swiped for his, snarling at him. “Come on, we’re finished setting up. If anyone in class asks, you’re still not feeling well.” He instructed.
“Right, the nurse had a field day with my ‘doctors’ note. Allowed to leave class when needed, allowed to rest when needed, allowed to go home if needed.” I listed off the allowances a doctor note Eemeli had procured for me had detailed. “You going to tell me how you got that?” I asked, unsure if I wanted to know.
Eemeli shrugged, leading us back to our combined history class. “It’s a standard Changeling Doctors note for new changelings. It wasn’t hard to get a hold of.”
“Right,” I chuckled, slipping into the back of the classroom to Jim and Toby, Coach ignoring Eemeli and I as we walked in the room, too focused on his magazine to care. I sat next to Jim, waving to Claire and the girls when they looked back to check on my, frowning at my hood being up since that was the new ‘not feeling well’ sign.
Jim frowned seeing the hood, leaning in close to talk, “You doing okay? Did something happen?”
Eemeli sat in the seat in front of me, patting my head as he turned to Jim, “Phobia jokes ended up not being jokes.”
“Was it the falling thing?” Toby asked, “Growing up, River had terrible nightmares about falling from the sky. She used to stay up for days so she wouldn’t dream.” He explained, rummaging in his book bag for something.
“Yeah, falling.” I sighed, laying my head on my desks to face Jim and Toby.
Jim winced seeing my eyes and teeth, “That bad, huh?”
I nodded, as someone settled on the other side of me.
“You okay? The girls and I got worried.” Claire’s voice called out on my right side.
I lifted my hand, giving her a thumbs up. “Doing good, it’s a… magic thing?” I spoke, trying to explain without having to turn my head. The last thing I needed was someone freaking out in class over the changes, even if Claire was doing well with the whole ‘trolls exist’ thing.
Claire’s hand replaced Eemeli’s on top of my head, patting carefully. “Did you get burned again?” She asked. The last time she saw me use magic had been in the forest, and that landed me in the hospital.
“No, that’s been taken care of, mostly. I’ll explain later, Claire. After school. Promise.” I sighed.
“In the meantime, drink this.” Toby dropped a juice pouch on my desk, the thing he was digging for in his backpack. “It used to help,” Toby smiled, having learned from mom that if you gave someone who was crying a drink, they couldn’t drink and cry at the same time.
I smiled softly at him trying to cheer me up. Taking the juice pouch carefully and drinking it slowly. “Thanks, Tobes, it’s helping.”
I sighed in relief as the burning in my eyes faded, letting me know my sclera had returned to normal. Once I finished the juice pouch, I ran my tongue over my teeth, confirming that my canines were hidden again.
I pushed my hood back off as I sat back up, giving the boys and Claire a small smile. “All better.”
Claire grinned when the bell rang, as we all gathered our belongings to head out. “I’ll let the girls know we’re hanging out. You promised to tell me what’s going on.” She rushed off to catch up with Darci and Mary.
I shook my head, rubbing the heel of my palm against my eyes. “Does the burning ever stop?” I asked Eemeli.
He shrugged, “Either I don’t notice it anymore, or it stopped.” He tilted his head in thought, “It hurt a lot when I was first changed. It gets easier eventually.”
I sighed, leaning against the lockers as we waited for Claire. “Eventually, so what? Nine hundred years?” I joked.
“Aren’t you supposedly that old?” Eemeli asked, referring to the letter from my father.
I groaned, fidgeting with my hood. “One existential crisis at a time please.” “Noted,” Eemeli chuckled, batting my hands from my hood.
Toby piped up covering the side of his mouth as he whispered to us, “Speaking of! If your dad is a changeling then doesn’t that mean you aren’t related to Jim?” He asked.
I bopped him on his head, leveling him with a halfhearted glare. “I said ONE existential crisis. ONE.”
Claire ran over, waving to Darci and Mary as she headed our way. “All set! So, where are we going? Trollmarket?” She asked, bouncing on her toes in excitement.
“Sorry Claire, not yet. The Trolls are still doing repairs after,” Jim frowned, trailing off.
“Let’s just say my birthday was a little too exciting for now. We’ll explain everything at the house, and you can use the door this time, instead of the basement window.” I smirked, heading off for home.
Eemeli snickered, falling in step with Claire, “You broke into their basement? See anything surprising?” He teased, knowing Draal would have been there.
“Other than the terrible plumbing system? The eight, plus, foot tall troll? Or hazardous mirror placed in the corner?” Claire huffed.
Jim chuckled, “That mirror has it out for everyone.”
I shook my head, letting everyone in the house. “Draal, we’re back!” I called out as the teens settled in the sitting room. Jim closing the blinds on the windows, making sure to keep the sun out.
Draal came up from the basement, nuzzling my cheek as he entered. “Happened again?” He asked, able to smell the shift in my magic.
“Yeah, didn’t take long to calm down though.” I smiled, pulling him further into the room. “We have someone to officially introduce you to. Draal, you remember Claire.” I grinned, stopping in front of Claire.
Draal eyed Claire for a moment, “Isn’t this the fleshbag who broke into the house?”
Claire groaned, head falling into her hands, “Can we please let that go? I was worried! You three were acting so strange!”
Jim smiled, patting her back, “It’s not like we weren’t arrested for breaking into the museum because we thought Nomura was going to be eaten by goblins.” He defended Claire.
Eemeli burst out laughing, “Wait, wait, wait! Was this before or after you found out she was a changeling?”
“It’s how we found out,” Toby shuddered, pulling up the blurry photos of Killahead showing the ones with pink blurs to Eemeli. “Not our best night.”
Draal snickered, nodding to Claire, “Protecting those you care for. Seems to be a common trait in fleshbags.”
Claire blushed, nodding, “Yeah well, you’ve got a reckless ‘fleshbag’ too, and you actually know what’s going on.” She huffed turning to me with a hard stare. “Speaking of! What’s with you being ‘sick’ and what does it have to do with your magic?”
I winced, knowing this would come up sooner or later. “Right. That,” I tapped the collar, “I have to take this off. Just, try not to scream or anything?”
Claire glanced from the collar to my face, confusion etched over her features. “Okay?”
Carefully, I unsealed the collar by pushing my magic into the metal, the burning returned instantly along with my fiery sclera, fangs, and claws. The tips of my ears burning as they turned blue.
Claire’s eyes grew wide as the changes slowly registered, “What happened?” she whispered, unsure how to react.
I shrugged as Draal carefully traced the newest changes to my ears, frowning at the progression, knowing it hurt. “You know how I said I’m not a hundred percent human because of my mom?”
Claire nodded, “She was a sorceress, they look human, but technically they’re not.” She spoke, reiterating my explanation from the hospital and girls’ night.
Pulling up my sleeve, I showed her the locket I converted into a bracelet, “Turns out I’m not human, at all.” I explained, opening the locket to show her the family portrait inside.
Claire carefully held the locket as she peered over the picture. “These are your parents? Your ears were pointy! You’re so cute,” She gushed over my toddler picture.
I blinked, not expecting this reaction, my cheeks begging to burn. “I, um…” I pulled at my hood strings, “Thanks, and yeah, I looked more troll-like as a baby.”
Jim’s eyes widened as he looked up, “Speaking of more troll-like, it’s spreading again!” He yelped.
The heat on my cheeks I had thought was a blush was really the stone flesh spreading. Draal grabbed the collar quickly, helping me seal it around my neck again. I sighed in relief as my flesh cooled, the gem on the collar glowing softly as my magic poured into it instead of my body.
“It’s starting to spread faster,” Draal sighed, upset that there wasn’t anything he could do to help with the pain.
I smiled, nuzzling under his chin. “I’m alright,” Sighing, I turned back to Claire. “I’m half Changeling, so I’m not entirely a troll, and I’m not entirely a wizard.”
Claire frowned, looking from the collar to Eemeli. “Changeling, like NotEnrique and Eemeli? Wouldn’t you be able to shift between human and troll then?”
I shrugged, playing with one of the hood strings. “Not sure, as far as we know, I’m the only half breed. I also don’t have a separate human counterpart, like Enrique and NotEnrique. In my case, I’m the changeling and the 'human.'”
Claire’s brow furrowed in thought, turning to Jim, “If your dads were related, and River’s dad is actually a Changeling, wouldn’t that mean you aren’t related?” She asked, trying to keep up.
Jim winced, trying to laugh it off, “Who knows, maybe they were both Changelings.”
Toby choked at that, looking between Jim and me, “Wait! Are you burning up too? Should we get you to Vendel?”
Jim sighed, shaking his head, “No, Tobes. I’m fine. No burning.”
I frowned, thinking over what Toby and Claire brought up. “Either way, we’re still family. Also, the burning is caused by my magic. To quote Blinky, ‘Master Jim doesn’t have an ounce of magic in his bones without the Amulet.’” I mimicked Blinky’s explanatory arm movements as I quoted him.
Eemeli hummed in thought, “Either is possible. We lost track of Garridan during the Battle of Killahead. Who knows what he’s been up to for nine centuries?”
“Nine, what?!” Claire whipped her head back towards me, “Wait, how old are you?”
“To my knowledge, nineteen. If we go by the locket’s dating, over nine centuries. Still not sure which is correct.” I shrugged, flopping on the smaller couch. Exhausted from the changes and taking the collar off.
“Alright, we’ll come back to that later.” Claire reasoned with herself, “So, what do the changes have to do with your hood being on at school?” She asked, worried after seeing everyone freak out over it spreading.
“Magic is linked to emotion, or it is emotion. If I get too hyped up, regardless of it being positive or negative, my magic surges and the collar can’t keep up. When that happens, the changes show through, mostly it’s my eyes that change. If it’s really bad though, my teeth come out too.” I explained, burrowing my face into the accent pillow on the couch.
Draal hummed softly, picking me up off the couch carefully. I huffed, hands out in grabbing motions for the pillow. “Tired,” I mumbled out.
Shaking his head, Draal sat me on his stone arm, letting me curl up against him as exhaustion won over. “I believe it’s time to rest. You have your dragon show tomorrow.” He chuckled as I told him off in Trollish, not wanting sleep yet.
Claire smiled at the exchange, standing to leave. “I’m going to head out, she needs to rest and you,” She turned to Jim, smirking. “Have Trollhunting to get to.” She snickered, walking out with Toby, Jim, and Eemeli.
The last thing I noticed was Draal heading down to the basement, still holding me.
The blaring of my alarm started both myself and my bed, Draal, awake. Sitting up quickly, he reached for my phone, snarling at it. “Every damn time.”
Yawing, I grabbed my phone from him, turning the alarm off. “Sorry, art show today.” I snuggled back into the blanket, trying to curl up again.
Draal smiled, lifting me up. “The art show that you’ve been working on for weeks now? The one you’ve been so excited to participate in? The one you’ll be late for if you fall back asleep?”
I jolted upright, looking at the clock on my phone quickly. “Shit! I can’t be late!” I yelled as I flashed up to my room, throwing on yoga pants and a dark pink hoodie. Quickly flashing back down to Draal, I kissed his cheek before running up the stairs, and out of the house.
As I jumped off the porched, Eemeli pulled up in a dark red classic Mustang. “Need a lift?” He smirked, leaning over to the passenger window.
“You can drive?” I asked, never seeing him in a vehicle before. Quickly jumping in the car, I figured if he got here in one piece, he could get us to the school in one too.
“I’m over nine hundred years old. Life would be dull without fast cars and racing.” He smirked, taking off towards the school.
“Doesn’t answer my question!” I yelped, grabbing onto the side handles quickly.
He huffed, slowing down to an appropriate speed. “Yes, I can drive. Legally too, have a license and everything.” He smirked, “Figured it was best if you had a ride. Who knows how exhausted you’d be if you tried teleporting all the way to the school?”
I groaned, leaning against the car door. “Don’t remind me, I’m still trying to get used to the new limitations.”
Letting out a chuckled, Eemeli parked out back by the gym where the art show was being held. “You’ll adjust soon enough, from what I’ve heard, you’re a quick study.”
I pouted, getting out of the car and heading into the show with Eemeli, “In the sense that I learn fast or that you were able to study me quickly?” I asked, inferring to the intel he had gathered for the Gumm-Gumms.
“Both?” He grinned, heading into the building. Our banter continued as we made our rounds, checking out all of the art projects already unveiled as we waited for Ms. Harper to give the okay on our project.
Nearing our project, Eemeli climbed the step stool, holding the chord that would drop the tarp around the dragon when screams from outside the gym caught our attention.
Ms. Janus ran into the gym, gasping for breath as she yelled “Snake!” at the top of her lungs. Coach Lawrence and Senor Uhl ran to the doors but were quickly knocked over as students, parents, and staff alike trampled through the gym.
I tried to hold the stool steady as people ran past Eemeli and me. A flash of white caught my attention as Mr. Nunez knocked into me causing me to shove Eemeli forward. Hei tried to keep his balance by holding onto the tarp but he ended up diving forward and ripping the tarp from the ceiling.
With the tarp being pulled, the dragon head was activated, spraying fire-like paint over the canvas we had hung up, along with Eemeli and his tarp pile. As Eemeli tried to stand he slammed into the dragon, knocking it off balance.
Mary ran past Eemeli and me, screaming as the white flash I had seen earlier, began to coil around her leg. Looking down, I could see a large white snake coiling around her ankle. The metal dragon began to tilt towards them as Mary paused, trying to kick the snake off of her.
“Get off of me you legless lizard!” She screeched, not paying attention to the dragon about to crash down.
My eyes burned as I flashed to them, quickly slamming them out of the way as the dragon smashed into the gym floor, crushing the metal build. The canisters shot out of the mouth spraying Mary, the snake, and I. As the paint slowly died out, I tried to pull my hood over my face, eyes still burning from the adrenalin rush as I felt something smooth and cold brush against my cheek.
The snake slowly wrapped itself around my neck as I finally pulled my hood up. As it settled down, I could feel it shrink, becoming much smaller than the serpent that almost took Mary down. Confused, I sat back, reaching into my hood trying to get the snake out.
“I wouldn’t do that little one.” A soft voice near my ear called out, the snake had settled her head under my ear as she spoke. “You were quite hard to find for a little halfling.”
I froze, unsure of how to react to a talking snake, let alone one that knew about my blood. Mary sat up, shaken up from the events. Frowning as she saw me frozen next to her. “River? You okay there girl?” She asked, reaching for the hood.
I jolted back quickly, not wanting her to see my eyes or the snake. “I,” pausing, I tried to reign in my thoughts, too much happening all at once. “I’m alright, just, hit the ground harder than I thought. Sorry about bulldozing you.” I finally got out, pulling my hood further down my face.
I could barely see Mary’s frown as she stood, offering her hand to help me up. “Sorry? You just saved me from your project crushing me. Getting bulldozed is the last thing I’m worried about. Where did that lizard go?!” She yelped, looking around for the snake, not knowing it was in my hoodie.
“Not sure, but we need to get out of here before it comes back. The teachers’ probably called animal control.” I reasoned, going to get Eemeli from where the dragon had been standing.
Eemeli groaned as I helped him untangle from the tarp. “Our next project is going to be three feet tall at most.” He sighed, rubbing his head where he hit the dragon.
“We gotta go,” was all I said as I dragged him out of the gym, grabbing Jim and Toby as we rushed through the crowds of freaked out parents and students.
“River, are you okay?” Jim asked, quickly keeping pace as I rushed off the school property.
I shook my head as my teeth emerged, the snake speaking up again. “There they are, you look funny without those.” She sneered, nudging my jaw with her nose.
Shaking my head again, I snarled, “You’re not helping. When we get out of here, you’re answering questions.”
Toby paused, staring at me, “Uh, River? Who are you talking to?” He asked, concerned I was losing it.
I turned to him, pushing my hair back enough to show him the snake under my ear. “The creature that crashed the show.”
Eemeli tensed seeing the snake, “Briallen?” He took a step back quickly.
The snake turned to eye Eemeli, hissing at him, “Gumm-Gumm, you fear my mother, as you should.”
Eemeli’s eyes flashed as we ran to my house, “I’m not a Gumm-Gumm. Not anymore.”
I frowned, rushing into the house, making sure mom wasn’t home. Draal rushed up from the basement having heard us run in, “What in Deya’s name is going on up here?” He asked, seeing us all out of breath from running all the way here.
The snake slinked her way out of my hood, settling on the dining table as she sneered at Draal. “I knew I’d have to work with Trolls, but did they have to be so loud?”
Draal snarled, putting himself between us and the snake. “Serpent, what do you want?”
The snake coiled back, the fins on the side of her head fanning out in irritation. “That’s Eirwen to you, Pebble.” She hissed, slowly moving so I was in her view. “Master Garridan chose me as Lady River’s familiar. Seeing as I was born from her mother’s familiar, I have the most experience and history with her family.” She gave a fanged smile as she explained.
“A familiar?” I asked, coming to stand next to Draal as the boys stayed behind us, still wary of the Eirwen.
“A wizard associate, or helper, if you will.” Eirwen settled down, fins flattening down. “Your father thought it best to have a familiar you could channel your magic through. Seeing as you can’t even keep your shifting in check with the glamor charm, I’d say he was right.”
I huffed, going to the table, “Alright, so I have issues controlling the amount of magic I let out. Big deal. Why did you crash the art show?”
Eirwen huffed, stretching show she was at eye level with me. “Simple, with the glamor your sealed magic created, I had no idea what you’d look like. I’ve been chasing human after human while letting out small bursts of magic in hopes that one of them would react to it.”
I groaned, sitting as the table and letting my head falling into my hands. “Great, so not only is it painfully obvious how little control I have, I now need a babysitter, sent by my father, who I haven’t seen over fourteen years!” I snarled, gripping my head tight.
Draal settled his hand on my shoulder, once he made contact, Eirwen coiled back and lashed out at him, covering his prosthetic in ice as she curled around me. “As my charge, the halfling is now under my protection.”
Draal snarled at the ice, glaring down at the snake. “As my mate, it’s my job to take care of her.” He argued back, causing the snake to tense on my back.
“Mate?” She laughed, coiling tight as if she were about to strike.
I shifted, flashing from the chair to Draal, standing between him and Eirwen as she fell, no longer coiled around my form. “Don’t. Touch. Him,” I snarled blue skin seeping through the glamor.
Draal quickly pulled me back, trying to keep me calm. Eirwen watched us closely for a while before pouting, turning her head to Eemeli. “Can I at least bite the former Gumm-Gumm?” She asked, sounding like a child who just got scolded for not sharing.
Eemeli stepped behind Jim, “Please tell me you have the Amulet?”
Jim nodded, keeping Eemeli and Toby behind him, “A little confused about why you’re so scared of her.”
“I’ve seen what a full-grown ice serpent can do. Tiny or not, she’s lethal.” Eemeli snarled, barring his teeth at Eirwen.
I sighed, kneeling down to Eirwen, holding my hand out for her to climb on. She slowly perched around my arm when I spoke again. “No, you cannot bite Eemeli. He’s my friend, and as he said, he’s no longer a Gumm-Gumm. Besides, if you’re staying around as my… familiar, you’ll have to get used to my family. Mate and friends included.” I huffed; left hand settled on my hip as I scolded her.
Eirwen eyed each person in the room, carefully watching them before she turned her attention back to me. Giving a small nod, she slinked back up around my neck, head settling over the stone in the collar as it gave off warmth from absorbing my magic. “Fine, I won’t bite Pebble or Rusty.”
“Rusty?” Came Eemeli’s indignant squawk from behind me. “Who’re you call Rusty you, you danger noodle!” He growled out, clawing for Eirwen over Jim’s shoulder, too pissed to listen to his own advice from three minutes ago.
“Danger Noodle?” Draal asked, confused by the reference.
“It’s what people refer to venomous snakes as, makes them seem less threatening I guess,” Toby shrugged, pulling up the danger noodle memes to show Draal.
Eirwen hissed at Eemeli, “You’re a rusty red changeling covered in magic blood!”
“Enough!” I yelled, bopping Eirwen’s nose and leveling Eemeli with a glare. “Eemeli, while accurate that was still rude. Eri,” I paused, poking under her chin to keep her attention, “That was uncalled for, no matter what Eemeli’s done before, he’s here to help us, not Gunmar.”
Eir grumbled at the nickname, coiling closer to the collar, “Fine, he can help.”
Eemeli glared at her, pulling his claws back, “Did she come with return shipping?” He asked, pouting like a toddler with Eri.
Jim laughed watching them both pout, “This is going to be interesting.”
Toby took a picture of Eri, poking her nose softly as she reared back, “So you’re here to help River channel her magic, does that mean you have to stick close to her? After today, I don’t think the school will be too happy to have you back.”
Eri glared, flicking her tongue at Toby, annoyed that her ‘booped’ her nose, “Watch it! Yes, I have to stick close, at least until we’ve bonded but that will take time or a massive amount of magic to complete.”
“How exactly do we bond?” I asked as we all sat at the table, settling into our newest member. “I really don’t want to burn you.” I winced, the thought of my magic getting out of hand again and hurting someone set me on edge.
“You won’t, my ice helps keep me from getting burnt by natural or magical fire, even daylight shouldn’t do much against my scales. Though the safest way to bond is for me to slowly absorb your magic through contact,” Eri explained, nuzzling under my chin, I could feel some of my mana slip into her from the contact, causing her scales to become a bluer tone. “Once I’ve absorbed enough of your magic, I’ll be able to pull it from you at a distance, this allows familiars to fight using their partner's energy. Even with the seal, you have excess mana running off of you.”
I frowned, rubbing her head softly as she explained. “You’re going to have to hide while at school, pets aren’t exactly allowed on campus.”
“I like small warm places, like this!” She grinned, slinking down into the pouch pocket of my hoodie, curling up until she was completely hidden. “See? No one will know I’m here!” Her little tongue flicked out, as she happily burrowed.
“I guess that’s one way to go about this.” I chuckled, relaxing as this felt oddly normal compared to everything else that happened this week.
Draal huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. “If this ‘Noodle’ helps, then I have no complaints.”
Eemeli eyed the little tongue flicking out of my pocket, still pouting from earlier. “Alright, fine. We won’t send her back. But, it better help.” He ground out.
Jim, Toby and I exchanged looks before the three of us burst out in laughter. Never thought I’d have an overprotective troll and changeling pouting at a snake. I’m quickly learning that normal isn’t in my family’s vocabulary.

GOOD AFTERNOON I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION! Please tell me how Dean and Cas would have been if they were raising baby Jack! Also do you think Claire would have babysat for her little brother sometimes if their dads were on a hunt?
HELLO SARAH thank u for this ask that was designed to drive me, specifically, ins*ne ❤️
i feel like... okay. oh this is going to be SO rambling i apologize in advance.
but ok so we KNOW for a fact that dean is a dad like he is just A DAD it is so integral to his being. he's caring and attentive and isn't afraid of the fact that kids can be gross or annoying because he recognizes that they are KIDS and need patience and care. so i feel like at first dean would just take over the bulk of the care for jack bc its just natural for him at this point. (IM THINKING ABOUT HIM BOUNCING THAT BABY IN WHATEVER EP THAT WAS AND ITS MAKING ME WANT TO CRY. HE IS SO GOOD WITH KIDS HES MEANT TO HAVE KIDS HES SO FULL OF LOVE!!!!) and cas ALWAYS looks to dean first when it comes to learning How To Be Human™ so he'd be watching what dean does to emulate him. i imagine theres a lot of "no no no--you need to support his head like THIS", and, "oh that means he's hungry here this is how you should hold the bottle", at the start of their care for him
GOD WASNT DEAN ALSO HUMMING A ZEPPELIN SONG TO THAT BABY HE WAS BOUNCING IN WHATEVER EPISODE THAT WAS (PLEASE SOMEONE DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT EPISODE IM TALKING ABOUT) HRRGHRGRGHGH LED ZEPPELIN LULLABIES BUT BETTER THAN THAT--BETTER THAN DEAN HUMMING HARD ROCK LULLABIES TO BABY JACK--CAS BEING LIKE OH YEAH THATS GREAT AND CASSSSSS HUMMNING HARD ROCK LULLABIIEISSS TO BABY JACKKKKK I AM GOING SUPERSONIC.
ALSO its important to rmmbr that jack ISNT fully human so there will be things that only cas will be able to take care of. my fuckng god they really are the perfect pair to care for jack oh god im getting emotional. i have no idea what those angel-specific needs would BE.... like god when jack is especially fussy and his unchecked powers start to come out dean is like okie doke time to tap in the angel husband i cannae handle getting laserbeamed by my infant son rn 😌✌🏼 and cas is like honestly id rather deal with jack trying to suplex me into the fuckng wall than change his diaper. quite simply i must admit you humans are kinda nasty at times god bless. but yeah jack would have ALL of his needs addressed thanks to having a human dad and an angel dad which i think is so key!! and is smth that they did kind of have in the show but due to um fukcng EVERYTHING else going on i felt like his human side was kinda neglected and wasnt developed as much as it couldve/shouldve been, which led to, yknow, a lot of dangerous misunderstandings. jack certainly needs and deserves to have his WHOLE self nurtured and recognized.
also wow itd be so nice to have an eldritch interdimensional being who technically doesnt need sleep as your co-parent bc dean can get ALLLLL he blissful sleep he needs while cas takes care of the nighttime baby needs! UGH perfect
AND YES. OF COURSE CLAIRE WOULD BABYSIT JACK. GOD IF EVER THERE WERE A GIRL DESERVING OF A YOUNGER SIBLING. she has older sister syndrome ANYWAY. also shes dean kin so i think itd be REALLY funny if dean is like are you SURE youre okay to take care of him? remember hes a nephilim like he has powers it can be really dangerous when he gets too worked up. actually forget it we'll call rowena or something i dont want you to get hurt. and claire is like dad. for real. just fuck off and go kill the werewolves or whatev i got this. and when they get back from the hunt they come back and jack is like fast asleep beside claire, who is ofc completely fine, and deans like did nothing happen??? claires like WHO do you think youre talking to of course its all fine he was a perfect angel (snicker snicker) because he likes ME. like jack goes down so easy for claire hes just always so calm and happy with her, never fusses, dean is like WHAT gives like not wanting to admit hes a little jealous that jack has never tried to laserbeam HER and shes like what can i say? sibling privilege. we have an understanding :) like father like daughter shes just a natural caregiver. dean is so proud. cas is so proud. they are so happy. oh my god. they love their kids so much.
in conclusion. dean and cas would be the most loving parents a baby nephilim could hope for. just today MY dad said to me that parents never want their kids to experience the pain that they have experienced themselves. he said that bc i was upset he wouldnt teach me how to change the light fixture in my closet bc there was a live wire and he didnt want me to get shocked like he has in the past BUT THE SAME PRINCIPLE APPLIES where, i feel like ESPECIALLY for dean, they would do their utmost to raise jack (AND claire) with the care that was so lacking from their own childhood experiences.
dean certainly tried with sam and did a good job, but he was a kid himself then and wasnt fully equipped to provide all the emotional support a child needs. now, as an adult in a supportive, committed relationship, dean will have the chance to REALLY devote himself in the way he was always meant to.
and cas...well... whats more human than caring for your child? everyday his love deepens--his love for dean, his love for their little house, his love for the honeybees and the clouds in the sky. all things he was never meant to have any feelings for, he just loves and loves and loves more because of the little life he has with dean and claire and now his little baby. everyday he becomes more himself because of his love for his family, and he pours all of that back into them. he is just so adoring. he listens to every sound jack makes with keen attention, committing every nonsensical syllable to memory, because its all important. he wants to make sure jack knows how loved he is and how recognized he is and how appreciated he is, just for existing. he wants jack to feel seen and known, in the ways he never was by his own father.
the way dean and cas are with baby jack is that they try. fundamentally thats what its all about. just trying. because u love so much. thank u

15x09 rewatch with an unedited list of reactions & thoughts!
It’s very long so it’s under the cut!
In the road so far montage Sam said that what he shot Chuck with wasn’t a bullet, but it was a piece of him, so I suppose that feeds into a potential explanation for later on.
Chuck controlled Eileen so that he could see what Sam was doing. I’m slightly unsure what the limitations of Chuck’s powers are. What stops him from just sitting invisible in the bunker and watching? Is he also unable to see Dean? Surely he couldn’t see what Sam and Dean were doing through Cas’ eyes (interesting that Chuck - seemingly - didn’t think about using Cas as his eyes and ears). Since we had the scene with Donatello I was under the impression that Chuck doens’t see what either Dean and Sam were doing, but he could hear through Donatello. It’s a bit vague and I’m not sure if it will come up again later.
If Sam and Dean are Chuck’s favourite show why exactly does he want to leave the world? Or is it simply that he doesn’t enjoy being “stuck”?
It is funny that Dean tries to talk to Eileen on the phone. I assume there might be speech to text applications? I don’t know but it’s kinda... weird that Dean’s not going “! Eileen is doing a regular call, this is supsicious!”
“Dean, will you stop being so stupid!” ♥
I suppose we’re not meant to think about this, but I find it interesting that there’s a spell with regular ingredients that will lock Chuck away. I assume Chuck created the cage and the spell out of his own power, so Michael’s spell is probably simply an equivalent to it, working with ingredients that Dean and Cas have access to. Or am I supposed to imagine Chuck and Lucifer casually doing a spell? And how can it be that this never came up as an option to lock Amara in again? Surely Chuck must have known of this spell. Though then again that was probably not the story he wanted to tell. (Or he really doesn’t know about how to use “real” spell work, because he just creates out of nothing. I don’t know and it’s probably not relevant)
Why do Sam and Eileen have to antagonize Chuck...? I know it’s their brave defiance but I find it kinda odd anyway...
Dean and Cas going to Purgatory with a flashlight. I mean it’s clever but it’s also kinda funny. (Though why would Cas need a flashlight? Doesn’t he see in the dark?)
I love when Cas talks back at Dean. Obviously splitting up in Purgatory is a bad idea and Cas is right to critize that plan.
“No, Dean. My sense of direction is excellent.” ♥ (This is mildly at odds with Cas saying that splitting up increases the odds of getting lost. Maybe he means the odds of Dean getting lost.)
Leviathan used to be intimidating but Dean and Cas don’t care much *lol* (Though of course, this Leviathan wanted them to find him and wanted to lead them into the trap)
Well, I’m not sure why Dean’s surprised about Benny (whether the Leviathan told the truth or not) because when Benny helped Sam out of Purgatory he looked like was overwhelmed so I just assumed that was Benny’s end...
17 April 2020, Jody calls Sam (why Sam?) that Claire is dead. I think, judging from how the episode went with Eileen leaving, would she even be there? Would there be a happy double date movie night? I don’t know exactly when this episode is set, so maybe enough time has passed for Eileen to feel like she’s no longer controlled...
I love how soft Cas still is, he always comes to Dean to express his condolences. With Rowena (and that blew up in his face because Dean blamed him) and now with Benny.
Cas saying that Purgatory is a place that will bring guilt out. ;w;
What does Dean say? “I know you’re sorry about Bel...?” About Bel??? Why would he be sorry or have to be sorry about Belphegor? So I assume I just misheard.
I can’t quite follow the conversation. Cas said he was talking about Jack. What does he mean? That he feels guilty about Jack?
The way Dean pauses when Cas says that he was talking about Jack makes me wonder if Dean doesn’t feel guilt about Jack?
And now Dean changes the conversation? What has “maybe if you didn’t up and leave us?” have to do with it? Does he mean that if Cas didn’t leave he would have stopped refusing to listen to Cas’ apology?
“You didn’t give me a choice. You couldn’t forgive me and you couldn’t move on. You were too angry. I left but you didn’t stop me.” That has got to be one of my absolute favourite scenes ever. I wished for so long for Cas to say that but didn’t think it would ever happen. But it did and I’m so in love! ♥♥♥♥
06 January 2021, quite a bit time skip to the last scene Sam saw. It’s interesting that Sam brings up Cas. Though he’s already no longer with them! ;w;
Why does the Leviathan call Eve mother? Eve didn’t create them, God did! How is Eve even still around?? Did she go back to Purgatory when she died? If yes, why didn’t she come for Cas back when he was trapped in Purgatory for over a year? :////
03 November 2021. Oh man. I love and hate what we learn about Cas’ fate. I love it because this scene reveals how much it hurt Dean, how that loss was what made Dean “give up” (and not for the first time). I also hate it because poor Dean, poor Cas! :CC
I don’t think the mark making Cas go crazy worked the same as it worked for Dean and the Mark of Cain. The Mark of Cain’s corruption had a difference source. This Mark was the lock on Chuck’s door after all. I bet it must have gone differently.
Why does Sam think that Dean (love the “the Dean who raised me” comment!) would never give up? Dean gave up before. Sam witnessed Dean give up as recently as S13 after he had lost his mom and Cas. He gave up and it was only Cas’ return that could set him back on track. Usually when Dean gives up, he either goes on for Sam’s sake even if it ends up destroying him (which we’ll see here) or he gains new hope because someone he lost returns. But Cas, in this instance, can’t return...
Prayer scene, prayer scene, prayer scene!!! ♥♥♥
I love the moment of fear, quickly followed by Dean’s realization that he can pray to Cas.
The prayer was wonderful. I just love everything about it. Dean took Rowena’s warning that they must fix it before it’s too late and he opened up and I think that was beautiful. I think it was best for Dean that it happened in a prayer, where he could reveal himself better than if he would have been face to face with Cas. ;w;
03 November 2021, this picks up after the last future scene, where we learnt that Dean buried Cas in the box, and it also follows right after the prayer, with Dean making an expression and closing his eyes in a way that could imply that he’s praying too? Praying to Cas in the box? Hoping to reach him, to help him? Saying good-bye because he knows if he goes on a hunt with Sam, he might not come back? (And if Chuck’s right then Dean had a gut feeling that this wasn’t going to end well. I assume this is where they were turned...?).
Can I also say that I find it a bit odd of Sam to focus on how Dean has given up hope and no longer wants to hunt, but he doesn’t focus on his own future actions? That he more or less forces Dean on a hunt just because he is in a “fight until the end” mind set? Dean clearly isn’t. Dean doesn’t want to fight, he doesn’t want to fight until he’s killed. :/
And a reunion back at the portal! I love that Cas is just sitting there and how heavy he’s breathing once he gets up. Poor thing!
Cas says “you don’t have to say it” so softly. I do kinda wish Cas would have said something to Dean to reaffirm that things were alright. Just some sort of verbal acknowledgement.
9 December 2022. Ugh, ridiculous. I can’t make sense of a version of our Sam and Dean who would just give in to being monsters that ended up a) calling their friends bastards and b) have no qualms about killing them. We’ve seen Dean as a vampire before. What about the cure? What about Dean rather dying than hurting people? I don’t get it. :/
I might want to punch Chuck in the face but I still like how manipulative and scheming he was here. Very good~
I’m thinking about what Chuck said at the end of S11 and what he says now. Before he said that the world would be fine, as long as it had Sam and Dean. But now he says that if he disappears then the law of nature rules and Dean and Sam will no longer be enough. It does make us question just how much Chuck has interfered. Just how much him being invested in them swayed things in his favour.
Does this leave Sam and Dean back without Chuck’s interference? So they have to battle divine providence?
Sam and Eileen’s kiss feels like a promise of Sam that if Eileen has had time to think about what was real and if she wants to come back, that he will be there.
I’m still miffed that Sam and Eileen got to share a kiss and Dean and Cas haven’t yet.
What are Dean and Cas doing, just chilling in the kitchen? I wish I had heard their conversation.
Sam’s so surprised that Dean just accepts Sam’s decision not to trap God. Though Cas is pretty quiet, I wonder what he’s thinking.
What was Jack doing in the Empty? Playing hide and seek with it? *lol*
Long rambling comments, great episode! I can’t wait to see what will happen next~

This better be the last time
05.20.18
I don’t know what I’m supposed to be writing. This isn’t like a hunter's journal, it’s just a set of empty pages. Rowena gave it to me this morning. She said it might help to keep me focused while we’re looking for you. She said she writes in one at night now, after what happened with Billi. Maybe it’ll help.
05.21.18
I don’t even know why I’m doing this. It feels stupid…. Like most other things I do for you. I miss you so much. And I can say that here. I’m not allowed to say things like that to you, you’ll make fun of me for it. But I do, and I love you. I’m tired of losing you and everyone else I care about. We’ve lost each other so many times and I’m ready for it to end. After this I’m done. And I really mean it this time. No more monsters, no more hunting. Just you, me, Cas, and Jack. We’ll live normal lives… Maybe we can get an actual house and a dog.
6.1.18
We’ve been at it for weeks and you’re no where. Normally an archangel’s presence on earth draws some attention.I can only assume Michael is hiding out and biding his time. I could really use your help on this. I may be the one behind the research but you were always the one with the plans. Man I miss you.
6.2.18
I JUST WANT TO SLEEP. I feel like I’ve been awake from the moment Michael took you. I doze off now and then but I don’t feel rested. I was tempted to ask Cas if he’d just knock me out but he’s not really speaking to anyone right now. He leaves a lot and comes back angry. He won’t even tell us where he’s been, but I know. He’s either out looking for you, or talking to Chuck. He does that a lot lately. He just stands in the clearing behind the bunker and yells at him about how bad of a father he is. He asks for his help every day but so far there’s no answer. I want to tell him that he’s not going to get any help, especially after talking so much shit to him but I know better than to broach that subject. We don’t speak about you. He asks for updates and helps research but if it goes any further he ends the conversation. He misses you too Dean. We all do.
 06.08.18
Jack and I got into an argument today. I feel awful. I know he’s just trying to help but I can’t lose you. Not now. He thinks we should focus more on finding a way to end Michael. He’s aware of what that implies and so am I. I told him it wasn’t happening and not to bring it up again. I wanted to hit him… and that’s not fair. He’s just a kid Dean and we’ve put all this crap on him. He’s too hardened by the world already and I hate it. I mean it Dean after this we’re getting out. For good.
06.14.18
I feel so restless. I need to do something. I need to find you. And I will Dean, I swear I will. Cas has been gone with Rowena for a few days on a lead so that leaves me here with Jack. Things have been tense since that argument. He won’t stay in a room with me for longer than a minute and he ignores me when I try to talk to him. Now I know how you felt when I was a teenager. I’m sorry about that by the way, guess I was just as stubborn as he is if not even more so. Turns out writing in this thing really does help. The past few days I’ve felt like I was going to crawl right out of my own skin. Now, getting it out, I feel a little less … urgent.
06.22.18
Gang’s all here minus one. Cas and Rowena are back. Mom and Bobby are staying here. (Which is so freaking weird, I wish you were here to see it) Charlie is staying and Claire came down with Jody and Donna. We Called Garth and he’s on his way here too. Everyone is pitching in and were going to bring you home. We all love you Dean and I wish we’d told you more. But we’re going to make up for it. You’re going to get so tired of all the love.
 07.07.18
I saw you today. It was just for a minute but it was nice. I’m surprised Michael didn’t try to kill me. Guess I’m not a part of his plan. He looked so much like you. It’s weird because like Cas looks different that what I remember Jimmy looking like. They held themselves differently, spoke differently. But when I saw you it looked like you. Except Michael has you dressed like a total douche bag. I could have sworn it was you though Dean. He smiled and waved at me then he disappeared.I hate this. I hope you come home soon. This place feels so empty without you no matter how many people I let stay. I’m surrounded by people but I’m lonely. I know you’re probably lonely too just having Michael for company.
07.19.20
This feels pointless. All I’m doing is wasting time when I could be looking for you, but this is the only way I can talk to you now. I could probably pray but he would hear. He better not be hurting you either. I know this can’t be easy on you, especially if he lets you see what’s going on. Maybe he was nice enough to put you in a dream. Maybe in your head you’re on a beach vacation just like you wanted. I hope that’s what’s going on anyway.
07.30.18
Why aren’t you here!? You’re the strongest person I know, you should be able to fight this! I can’t do this… Not on my own. And everyone else gone now! I feel like they’ve given up. Except them, Jack and Cas they stayed. But he still won’t talk to me. I can’t fix it! I can’t fix anything! Brother where the hell are you?!
08.04.18
Jack finally spoke to me today. He’s so angry Dean. I wish you were here dude. I don’t know the first damn thing about raising a teenager! And Cas, he’s in general mode. He’s not really with us. He just runs constantly trying to find a way to get Michael out of you.
08.10.18
Rowena’s back. And she brought mom. I hope they stay this time I really missed them.
08.12.18
Mom hugged me today for like 5 minutes straight. We spent hours talking. She told me all about you when you were a baby. I kinda wish I could go back and see it. She said you were really funny and that her and Dad were always laughing at something you’d done. Did you know you were just 10 months old when you learned how to walk on your own? I don’t know how old normal babies are or how old I was but I feel like that’s early. See Dean you’ve always been smart
 08.16.18
We’ve got a lead. This could be it Dean.
08.29.28
I hope you appreciate what I just had to go through to save your stupid angel. He’s being reckless and he’s going to end up getting himself killed. Again. I told him how angry you would be when you found out. I feel bad for yelling at him but he’s my brother now and I can’t lose him too.
09.03.18
It’s been months… I feel like I’ve really lost you this time.
09.16.18
Jack doesn’t listen very well. It took months but Jack finally got Cas talking. Screaming is more like it. He suggested that when we get you that we kill Michael. I don’t like Cas’s smiting face. I don’t think Jack liked it very much either. Castiel is now walking through the house having a fit and Jack convinced mom to spar with him for a while. He’s getting pretty good at it but mom can still kick his butt. It’s hard to watch this though. Because I get it. Cas loves you and he loves Jack and having to choose what’s right is hard. We both know what you would say if you got a vote so that’s exactly why we’re not going to consult you. Now he’s bitching at me because I knew about Jack’s plan and I didn’t tell him. Apparently he was actually going to go through with it. I can’t really be mad at him though. He’s trying to save the world. But we’re trying to save you.
09.21.18
Sister Jo Called. She said she spoke with you. I told Cas to hang up. I don’t trust her.
09.29.18
I’ll get sleep one day
10.10.18
Bingo. Now we just have to find a way to get the bastard out.
10.17.18
I know that was you. I know you were the one that kept him from killing us. But what I don’t understand is why he’s still in there if you can control your body.
10.25.18
I’ve had it. I’m going to put him in a corpse somehow and then I’m going to fry his wings in holy oil. Bastard.
11.07.18
Ok here goes… I need you to come home. Living here like this without you is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I keep wanting to call you and ask for your help but you’re not going to pick up. It’ll just be him. And he sure as hell isn’t going to be helpful. This is so fucking stupid. Ten years, ten fucking years of pain, anger, fear and frustration and Lucifer was finally dead. We had gotten rid of the big threat. You were supposed to cast him out Dean! We were going to be happy. For a minute we were happy and then you left again. I don’t know what to do man. If you’re gone then I want to be gone too. At least you won’t be alone. I’m going to pray to you. And I hope he comes…
11.08.18
I can’t believe that worked. You’re really here. Well mostly. Cas says you should wake up soon. That’s the first time he’s smiled since May. He and Rowena are taking turns trying to heal you. Michael messed you up pretty bad but I know you’ll be ok.
11.22.18
You’re still out. I’m losing my mind waiting for you to come back to us. I sat with you last night while Roe tried to heal you. I’m sorry for crying. I should man up but you’re all I’ve got. And it’s been stressful without you.
1.24.19
I don’t know why I still write in this thing. You’ve been back for a while now but I couldn’t help it. I thought we’d never get to celebrate another year together. Happy Birthday big brother.

4.20 - The Rapture
or the one about Castiel’s vessel.  Except it isn’t really about that and if you don’t watch it for that reason, you’re missing out on an amazing episode full of brother angst.  I’m glad I re-watched as this wouldn’t normally be on my re-watch list.
Cas appears to Dean inside his dream.  Dean is fishing on his own, and it’s peaceful and quiet.  Not sure what to say about that right now, other than it confirms Dean is tired of hunting this season.  Cass needs to talk to Dean and wants him to meet him someplace more private, because apparently people could be listening in.
When Sam and Dean arrive at the meeting place, it looks like there’s been an explosion.  They see Cass in the middle of the bomb site, unconscious and go to help him.  Except, it’s not Cass, it’s his vessel, Jimmy (and lol at Misha’s voice).
Jimmy’s eating as they question him on what he remembers.  He’s eating worse than Dean ever has.  He remembers some things, like having an angel inside you is “kinda like being chained to a comet”.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember what Cass was going to tell them.
We flashback to Jimmy with his family.  The scenes show him to be a religious man.  We see the television acting strangely, similar to the episode Castiel tries to talk to Dean.  Jimmy has a fit and passes out.
Back to the present and Sam and Dean have another disagreement.  Dean wants to put Jimmy on a bus and send him home.  Sam doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Jimmy’s the only lead they’ve got.
Dean: You remember when our job was helping people?  Like, getting them back to their families?
Sam: You think I don’t want to help him?  I’m just being realistic.  I mean hell, we’re doing him a favour
Dean: How?!
Sam: Dean, if we want to question the guy, you can bet the demons do too.
We can see that Dean hadn’t thought about this, so they go tell Jimmy the news that he can’t go home right now.  Jimmy’s not happy with this news.  He tries to leave. Sam says if he does, he’ll put his wife and daughter in danger.
Jimmy: So, what, now I’m a prisoner?
Sam: Harsh way to put it.
Sam leaves the motel when he thinks Castiel and Dean are asleep.  Castiel is not asleep and seizes his opportunity to escape. I’m not sure this counts as dumbing down the Winchesters, because Sam is acting like a junkie that desperately needs a fix of demon blood.  Sadly, his hip flask is running low on the stuff so he’s only going to get worse.
Sam’s very irritated the next morning and edgy, so he’s not the least amused that Dean finds it funny that Jimmy gave Sam the slip.
Dean: What were you doing anyway?
Sam: I was getting a coke [In fairness to Sam, he did drink the demon blood next to the coke machine].
Dean: Was it a refreshing coke?
Jimmy is on a bus, flashback to pre-Castiel Jimmy who is preparing food.  The radio starts playing up and next we see Jimmy has his whole hand in boiling water.  Castiel asked him to do it to “prove his faith”.   Jimmy looks so young here.
The Winchesters are driving and giving each other the silent treatment.  Anna appears suddenly in the back seat. Anna should know better than this, having lived as a human for years. Anna’s hair is a mess so I’m guessing whatever she has been up to isn’t good.  She tells Sam he seems different.
Sam: Me?  I don’t know... [Sam laughs] a haircut?
Anna: That’s not what I’m talking about. [Anna continues to look at Sam for a few seconds].
Anna tells them that Cass got dragged back to heaven, which is a “panfully, bad thing” and that he must have pissed someone off.  Dean tells Anna in turn that Cass had something to tell them, but he doesn’t know what.
I’m ignoring most of the Jimmy/Amelia scenes which consist of her thinking he’s delusional and him saying to have faith. The scene I do like, is that we see Jimmy dressing in what we know will become Castiel’s trademark clothes.  As an aside, Jimmy is not a tax accountant, he sells advertising space for radio. He goes outside and asks Castiel what he wants from him.  A bright light appears above him and we hear whispering.
Jimmy: Yes, I understand.  Promise my family will be okay and I’ll do it.... then yes.”
Beam of bright light and Castiel takes possession, which we get confirmation of when Claire appears and says “daddy” and Castiel looks at her curiously and responds, “I am not your father.”  Seriously Castiel?
Present day Jimmy reunites with Amelia and the thing I will pull out of this scene is this: “I was - I was confused, Amelia.  I was completely delusional.  And I thought - I thought God was calling me to something and I thought that it was important, and I was wrong.  I was such an idiot.  Heaven, hell... none of that matters.  The only thing that’s important to me is you and Claire...
Taps chin, hmmm, I wonder how this can relate back to Sam and Dean, given their disconnect this season.
Sam’s trying to get a hold of his pusher Ruby while they look to be at a truck stop.  He’s withdrawing big time and is not doing well.
Okay, turns out Sam was right (looks into the camera like I’m on the office), demons are after Jimmy and his family.  His neighbour, Roger, is one of them and I like the scene where Jimmy beats the guy while shouting “He’s a demon!  Run!” while Amelia looks on horrified that her husband is attacking their nice neighbour (this is just after Jimmy admits to being delusional and making everything up.)
Sam and Dean arrive.  Dean uses the demon knife to kill Roger.  Sam tries to exorcise Roger’s wife, while Dean gets Jimmy and his family outside, but he “can’t get it up.”  No problems though, because Dean can, but before he can stab her, she smokes out.  Sam appears woozy and Dean has to help him out.
I’m debating if this next bit counts as dumbing down the Winchesters, but they are in a rush to get away, so I’m inclined to let this one slide.  As Sam and Dean rush out of the house, Jimmy and Claire are waiting by the Impala.  Dean asks where’s Jimmy’s wife.  Amelia appears and says, “Right here.”   They really should have checked all of them for possession though.
They drive away and stop at a parking garage.  Claire and Amelia are in the car, Jimmy, Sam and Dean are outside the impala talking.  This is their entire conversation:
Jimmy: You were right.
Dean: I’m sorry we were.
Jimmy: I’m telling you, I don’t know anything.
Dean: I don’t think they’re inclined to believe you.
Sam: And even if they did, you’re a vessel.  They’re still gonna wanna know what makes you tick.
Dean: Which means vivisection, if they’re feeling generous.
Sam: I’m gonna tell you once again, you’re putting your family in danger.  You have to come with us.
Jimmy: How long? And don’t give me that ‘cross that bridge when we get to it’ crap.
Sam: Don’t you get it? Forever. The demons will never stop.  You can never be with your family.  So you either get as far away from them as possible or you put a bullet in your head. [Dean looks at Sam at that], And that’s how you keep your family safe.  But there’s no getting out and there’s no going home.
Dean: Well don’t sugarcoat it, Sam
Sam: I’m just telling him the truth, Dean.  Someone has to.
I love the insights, the last 2 episodes have given to where Sam in particular is.  He’s not in a good place, and not just because of the demon blood.  He’s laser focused on what he thinks he needs to do - similar to robo!Sam in Mystery Spot.
Castiel and Amelia have an emotional farewell.   They leave her and Claire standing in the parking garage and drive off [in fairness, Sam hotwired a car for her so at least she has transport].  We see pretty much immediately that Amelia is a demon.
As they drive, Jimmy’s asleep in the back, and we have another great conversation between the brothers about what is going on with Sam and his powers:
Dean: What the hell happened back there? Sam: What? Dean: You practically fainted trying to gank a demon. Sam: Okay, I didn't faint. I got a little dizzy. Dean: Well, you can call it whatever you want. Point is, you used to be strong enough to kill Alastair. Now you can't even kill a stunt-demon number three?  [love this line]  Sam: What do you want me to say about it, Dean? Dean: Well for starters, what's going on with your mojo? I mean, it's yo-yoing all over the place. I'm not trying to pick a fight here, okay? I just – you're scaring me, man. Sam: I'm scaring myself.
Sam’s phone rings, turns out to be Amelia.  He wakes Jimmy up and gives the phone to him.  We don’t hear the conversation, but can guess she’s telling Jimmy she’s got Claire.
They arrive at a warehouse where Claire is being held.  Jimmy was told to go in alone.  He says he needs a minute and walks away.  Sam appears to be having trouble staying upright.  Sam and Dean talk:
Sam:  There’s no way they’re expecting him to come alone, Dean.  You know this is probably a trap.
Dean: Yeah, I know.  That’s why I have a plan.
Meanwhile, Jimmy calls for Castiel, “Castiel, you son of a bitch! You promised me my family would be okay. You promised you were gonna take care of them. I gave you everything you asked me to give. I gave you more. This is the thanks I get? This is what you do? This is your heaven? Help me, please. You promised, Cas. Just help me.”   Castiel does not appear.  Jimmy goes into the warehouse.
I’m going to presume Dean’s plan consists of them deliberately being caught as we next see them in the clutches of 3 demons.
Sam: Nice plan, Dean
Dean:  Yeah, well, nobody bats 1,000
Demon!Amelia accuses Sam that his “Wonder Girl powers aren’t working.”, Shoots Jimmy in the gut and tells her henchman to kill Claire. Not sure why she shoots Jimmy, since he’s the one they’ve been after all episode.  But since he’s not actually the point of the episode, we’ll ignore it and move on.
Turns out Castiel is inside Claire and s/he kills the demon.  Dean takes that opportunity to fight the demon holding him, as does Sam.  Dean’s struggling so Claire!Castiel kills that demon too.  Sam cuts his demon with the demon knife, smells the blood and drinks it.  Then he looks up at Dean and we can see Sam’s a messy blood drinker.  I’m not sure if Dean’s horrified at the blood drinking or the poor manners while Sam eats.  I’m sure he taught Sam better than that.  Sam turns back and kills the demon with the knife.  He stands and raises his hand at Dean, Dean flinches, then sees demon!Amelia behind him.  He jumps towards Sam and Sam exorcises Amelia easily, now that his demon blood tank has been filled back up.
Okay, so I think Dean might just have a few more questions for his brother, now that he has his answer for why Sam’s powers were weak earlier.
Claire!Castiel goes over to Jimmy.  “Of course we keep our promises, of course you have our gratitude.  You served us well.  Your work is done.  It’s time to go home now.  Your real home.  You’ll rest forever in the fields of the Lord.  Rest now, Jimmy.    [Well damn son, that’s harsh, you aren’t going to heal him?!]
Jimmy: No. Claire?
Castiel: She’s with me now.  She’s chosen.  It’s in her blood, as it was in yours.
Jimmy: Please, Castiel.  Me.  Just take me.  Take me, please.
Castiel: I wanna make sure you understand. You won't die or age. If this last year was painful for you, picture a hundred, a thousand more like it. Jimmy: It doesn't matter. You take me. Just take me.
Castiel: As you wish
A couple of things, child Claire is awesome in this scene.  Great job.  Also, shouldn’t there be rules about using minors as vessels?  They can hardly be considered capable of knowing what they are consenting to.  Finally, “you won’t die or age”. This is why immortal characters should only ever have a limited time span.
Castiel’s back inside Jimmy and turns to go.
Dean: Cas, hold up.  What were you gonna tell me?
Castiel: I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean.  I serve heaven, I don’t serve man, and I certainly don’t serve you.
Sam and Dean are back to driving in silence again, and this next conversation is the culmination of the sneaking around and lying all season:
Sam: All right, let's hear it. Dean: What? Sam: Drop the bomb, man. You saw what I did. Come on, stop the car, take a swing. Dean: I'm not gonna take a swing. Sam: Then scream, chew me out. Dean: I'm not mad, Sam. Sam: Come on. You're not mad? Dean: Nope. Sam: Right. Look, at least let me explain myself. Dean: Don't. I don't care. Sam: You don't care? Dean: What do you want me to say, that I'm disappointed? Yeah, I am. But, mostly, I'm just tired, man. I'm done. I am just done.
Sam’s phone rings, it’s Bobby, we see him in the panic room and he wants Sam and Dean to get over as soon as possible.
Sam: What’s going on?
Bobby: The apocalypse genius.  Now get your asses over here.
When they arrive, they are approaching the panic room.  Sam opens the door.
Bobby: Go inside.  I wanna show you something.
Sam walks inside, All right.  So, uh, what’s the big demon problem?
He turns and sees that Bobby and Dean have not entered.
Bobby: You are.  This is for your own good.
Bobby and Dean close and lock the door.
Sam walks to the open latched window in the door.
Sam: Guys? Hey, hey.  What?
Bobby closes the latch.
Sam: This isn’t funny. Guys!  Hey!  Guys?!
Points up at all the brother content.  Look at it!!!
On to the last two episodes.  I’ll need tissues, a dart board with Zachariah’s head on it, a bottle of whisky and an anger management toy, stat!

Summer Break
Tumblr media
Summary: The Winchesters decide to take a break from hunting traveling up to Jody Mills’ cabin to enjoy some much needed R&R. When Sam and Dean meet two girls who think they have seen a monster they think their Winchester Luck strikes again. Will the brothers get their Summer Break?   Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Brynn Roberts (OFC), Reader Pairing: Dean x Reader Warnings: Fluff Word Count: 3598 Prompt: “Baby, you’ll be my summer boyfriend” (Bold within story) A/N: This is for @anotherwaywardsister Summer Lovin’ Challenge! My prompt is listed above. As always this is unbeta so all mistakes are mine. Likes, comments and reblogs are splendid and I will love you doubly for them! Enjoy!
Summer 2018
Dean and Sam Winchester pulled up in front of Jody’s cabin in the deep woods of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dean had not stop smiling since he convinced Sam they should take a break from hunting. “Jody, said she was going to leave us the WIFI password, right?” he asked as Dean groaned. “Sammy, I told you to leave the laptop at home. Remember no cases, no monsters, nothing but rest and relaxation.” Sam rolled his eyes as they got out of the Impala grabbing their things. Walking in the cabin, they saw Jody had cleaned it, stocked it full of food and beer and left them a note on the table. “Sam and Dean, I want to say how proud I am of you both for taking some time off. Don’t worry about anything Donna, Claire and myself we take care of anything that comes up. Enjoy the cabin! Jody.” Dean read out loud as Sam snatched the letter from him, “P.S. Sam the WIFI password is: Mills12345” Now it was Dean’s turned to roll his eyes as Sam took his stuff into the bedroom down the hall.
They spent the evening settling in and Dean cooked up some hamburgers for dinner. After Sam had set up his laptop to play his Netflix account on the TV, Dean stopped grumbling as much about him being on his computer. “As long as you’re not looking up cases then I’m good with it. Watch Netflix or porn like a normal person on their laptop.” Sam snickered, “Dean just because that is how you use your computer all the time doesn’t make it normal.” Dean threw a chip at him as they started watching the newest DC movie, Justice League. Dean could not remember the last time him and Sam had just hung out with one another. After everything they had been through, he was starting to think about how much of life they had missed out on.When he was younger it never bothered him, but now that he was approaching forty he felt like a lot of life experiences were slipping past him. “Barry Allen was never like that in the comics!” Sam shouted at the TV as Dean chuckled. “How was he in the comics, Sam?” he asked surprising Sam who looked over at him. “You want me to talk about comics with you?” Dean grabbed his beer bottle and nodded, “Yeah. If it will help me make since of why Batman is not just punching this weird, nerdy dude out.” Sam started laughing and he went into a whole long explanation of The Flash storyline. Dean was only half listening to Sam as he just wanted to sit back and be in the moment.
The next few days the brothers went fishing, exploring the woods and challenged one another to a shooting contest in which Dean just barely won. “Dude, give it a rest! I get it you won our little shooting contest.” Dean’s smile was beaming as he stirred his chill. Dean had been in such a great mood since being here that he even let Sam picked the music they were listening too. He thought Sam was going to have a heart attack when he told him to put on whatever he wanted. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye he caught a shadow past by the window in the kitchen. He shook his head ignoring the bad feeling building in him. That is when he turned to Sam whose head was up listening intently. He got up turning down the music and then they both clearly heard a woman shouting. They both rushed outside to see two women running towards them. “Oh god, please help us!” one of them said breathlessly. They were both breathing heavily from running and Dean placed his hand on the woman’s shoulder, “It’s okay, calm down and tell us what’s going on.”
She looked up at him with shining (Y/C/E) eyes, “My friend and I are camping a couple of miles from here. We were in our tent and we heard some growling in the distance. We had all our food locked up and secured to a tree by us so we ignored it.” Dean could feel her start to shake and her friend was currently crying into Sam’s chest. “The closer it got the more it started to sound like a person and then we saw… we saw…” Dean looked down at her, “It’s okay just tell me no matter how cray it may seem.” She nodded taking a deep breath. “He wasn’t human. He had to be seven feet talk and claw like hands. As soon as we saw him he just vanished.” Dean looked up at Sam who was giving him a knowing look. “Why don’t you both come into our cabin. We will go check out your camping area to see what it was.” Sam said as they led the girls inside. They sat down on the couch and Sam handed them a water bottle. “Got anything stronger?” Dean chuckled as he handed her a bottle of whiskey. She did not even wait for glasses as she tipped the bottle back against her lips. “My kind of girl.” Sam elbowed him glaring at him.
“I’m Sam and this is my brother Dean.” Sam said sitting down across from them. “I’m Brynn and this is (Y/N). Thank you for helping us.” Dean sat next to (Y/N) as she took another drink from the bottle then passing it to Brynn. “It’s no problem. Sam and I will go down there now to check it out. You said it was a couple miles from here?” (Y/N) nodded, “Yes. I could show you the way if you like.” Dean shook his head as he and Sam stood up. “We’ll be fine. Make yourselves at home and we’ll be back before you know it.” Dean turned to walk out the door when (Y/N) grabbed his hand. He felt an electric current charge through his body from her touch and he glanced down at her. He could see the fear all over her face, but she managed to give him a breathtaking smile. “Thank you.” He nodded not trusting his voice then him and Sam walked out of the cabin.
After grabbing flame throwers from the trunk and their guns they started walking off towards the direction the girls had come from. “Dean, have you ever heard of a Wendigo being in South Dakota?” Dean shook his head, “No I haven’t, but at this point nothing surprises me. You know it figures this would happen.” Dean let out a frustrated sigh. “What do you mean?” asked Sam as he kept his head on a swivel. “Any time we try to take a moment for ourselves the other shoe drops and we end up looking for Wendigo in the woods. Is it too much to ask for an extended break.” Sam stopped for a moment looking to Dean, “What did you expect Dean? I mean, this is us we’re talking about. This,” Sam pointed all around, “is what we are and what we do. There are no breaks for us.” Dean ran his hand through his short hair. “Seriously Dean, what has been going on with you?” Sam’s voice was filled with concern. “I don’t know. Suddenly, I have been feeling that life is slipping past me and I missing out on something.” Sam was getting ready to speak when they heard a branch break in the distance. They looked to one another and Dean signaled for Sam to follow him.
The quietly made their way closer and saw the girls’ campsite. Standing in the middle of their now destroyed tent was a large moose tearing through their locked cooler of food. Dean stifled his laughter, “Friend of yours?” he asked as Sam glared at him. “Funny. Come on, let’s go back to the cabin and let them know that it was a moose they saw and not a monster.” They quietly left the campsite and as soon as they were further away Dean let out the laugh he had been holding in. They placed their weapons back in the trunk of the Impala and walked inside the cabin to see (Y/N) finishing Dean’s chili and Brynn was making some grilled cheese sandwiches. Dean felt an ache in the pit of his stomach seeing (Y/N) cooking. An ache of emptiness that he had been feeling for a while now. “Hey ladies.” The girls both jumped obviously startled.
“Jesus! Scared the crap out of us.” (Y/N) said as she threw a dish towel at him. Dean chuckled as Sam sat down at the kitchen table, “We have some good news and some bad news.” Dean sat down next to Sam as they girls brought over the food for them all. They looked to Sam nervously, “Good news is there was no creepy man or monster out in the woods.” They both let out a sigh of relief sitting down now. “The bad news is your campsite is completed destroyed by an incredibly large moose and I’m not talking about Sam.” Dean winced as Sam stomped down on his foot and (Y/N) let out a giggle. The sound was like music to Dean’s ears and he could not figure out why he was so taken by her. “Well, I’m glad that there was no monster or anything. Sucks we will have to cut our trip short though.” They all ate in silence for a moment when Dean suddenly blurted out, “Why don’t you both stay with us. There is plenty of room and if you have your heart set on true camping then we have a tent we could put up for you.”
Dean looked at all their shocked faces and felt his cheek burning. “Are you being serious?” (Y/N) asked as Sam nodded in agreement, “Yeah Dean, are you being serious?” Brynn looked a little put off at Sam’s comment looking down at her bowl of chili. “Yeah, we have plenty of rooms here. Can you think of a reason for them not too?” Sam gave him a knowing look and Dean could practically read the list of concerns he had forming in his head. Dean narrowed his eyes at his brother and smiled when he heard Sam sigh in defeat. “Dean’s right, we do have plenty of room here for you both if you want to stay.” He looked over to (Y/N) who was messing with her (Y/H/C) hair and looking to Brynn. They were silently having a conversation and then (Y/N) nodded, “As long as you’re sure then we would love to stay. Tomorrow we can go down to the campsite and see what we can salvage and bring our car up here. You two really are our heroes.” Her smile made his heart race and he watched as her cheeks turned pink looking away from him bashfully.
The next day, Dean and Sam helped them clean up their campsite. (Y/N) and Brynn were able to save most of their clothes and their backpacks. Brynn drove Sam back up to the cabin as (Y/N) wanted to walk and Dean volunteered to go with her. As they were walking, Dean took off his flannel shirt and used it to wipe the sweat from his forehead. “You do know that in summer it gets warm in the majority of the United States?” She chuckled as he tied his shirt around his waist, “Yes. Yes, I do.” He said as she laughed. As they approached the cabin Brynn came running out, “(Y/N) apparently there’s a lake down a little further. We should go swimming!” Dean watched as (Y/N) gave her friend a look as if she had lost her mind.
“Yeah, we should totally go swimming. Oh wait, we don’t have our swimsuits.” Dean snickered at her sarcastic tone and then suddenly was rendered speechless as Brynn began taking off her shirt. “Brynn, have you lost your damn mind?!” (Y/N) shouted as Brynn shook her head nonchalantly. “Swimsuit, bra and panties. They’re all the same and show the same amount of skin. Now come on!” Brynn headed towards the lake behind the cabin as (Y/N) put her head in hands. “I swear to god she is nuts.” She mumbled and now Dean could not hold in his laughter anymore. “She does have a point though…” (Y/N) smacked his arm playfully, “Oh really? Okay then why don’t you come swimming with us then.” (Y/N) started following Brynn and was unbuttoning her shorts. “Sammy! Come on, we’re going swimming!” Dean shouted as he was hot on (Y/N)’s trail.
Dean waited for Sam, who was the only one out of the four of them that had brought his swim trunks. “Always the freaking boy scout.” Dean muttered as he stood at the top of the dock. He watched as (Y/N) pulled her shorts down her long legs leaving her in a pair of boy short panties. She pulled her shirt up over her head and drove into the lake. “Well come on Dean. Drop those pants.” She laughed as he suddenly was feeling embarrassed. Dean knew he had a lot of scars all over him and when he would hook up with girls they were always focused on other things he was doing so they never noticed the scars. He felt nervous baring it all in front of them. “Dean?” Sam quietly said as he was standing in his plain trunks and no shirt. “Alright, alright I’m coming.” Sam smacked him on the back and jogged to the end of the dock jumping in.
Dean walked down to the end of the dock untying his flannel from his waist and hanging it on one of the dock posts. He pulled his black t-shirt over his head putting it with his flannel and he saw (Y/N) glance up at him biting her bottom lip. He kept his eyes on her as he unbuckled his belt while kicking off his boots. She dipped her head back into the water causing her chest to rise from the water. Suddenly, taking off his pants seemed like an incredibly embarrassing and awkward idea. He turned away from her thinking of dead bodies and ugly Wendigos calm himself down enough to comfortably take his pants off. He kicked his jeans to the side along with his socks. He glanced back to see the girls whispering to one another and he backed up some taking off in a dead run. He jumped off the edge of the dock holding his knees to his chest and hit the water with a large splash. As he popped back up he heard (Y/N) and Brynn shrieking while Sam was laughing. “Damn it Dean!” (Y/N) yelled wiping her face off as he was laughing. He gave her his most charming smile as she started splashing him.
Dean pulled himself up onto the dock and he heard giggling behind him, “Nice plumber crack.” Brynn called out as Dean pulled his water-logged boxers up as Sam pulled himself up on the dock. Dean put his jeans back on as the girls swam to the dock. The brothers reached down with one hand each helping the girls up. As Dean pulled (Y/N) up she braced herself placing her hands on his bare chest. His hands went to her hips to help balance her and as he looked down at her she looked up at him through her long lashes. “Thanks Dean.” Her voice was soft and he felt a large lump form in his throat. He swallowed hard, “You’re welcome.”
She walked out of his arms and grabbed her clothes putting them on. He looked over to Sam who had a bewildered look on his face. The girls walked ahead of them and into the cabin. “Does any of this seem a little off to you?” Sam asked as Dean nodded. “I know I can get a woman whenever I want, but this all seems a little too easy to me.” He said as Sam ran his hand through his wet long hair. “Love spell?” Dean shrugged looking up at the cabin, “I don’t know. I didn’t feel like this when those other witches dosed me with a love spell. This… this feels real, but I know us and our lives which makes me doubt it.” Sam nodded and they started walking up to the cabin.
Dean was outside setting up the tent when (Y/N) came out freshly showered and with a beer for each of them. “Are we too much to handle?” she asked with a smirk as he looked up taking a beer from her hand. “What do you mean?” She pointed to the tent, “The tent. Are you sending us outside for the night?” He chuckled shaking his head. “No, I figured I could sleep outside since it will be in the low sixties overnight. We would never make beautiful ladies sleep outside unless they wanted too.” (Y/N) sat on the porch as Dean continued to put up the tent. “Dean, can I ask you a weird question?” He glanced up at her and nodded. She snickered slightly fidgeting with her hair, “I feel kind of stupid asking this but is there something here?” He set the pole he was holding on the ground deciding to play dumb, “What do you mean?” He turned back towards the tent anchoring the poles in the ground as he heard her sigh. “Well, that kind of answers my question and confirms that I am just a fool.”
He turned towards her as she got up turning to the door. “Wait, (Y/N).” She stopped but did not turn around. “Are you talking about the electric current that surges through me every time you slightly brush up against me in any way? Or maybe how it feels like we are magnets drawn to one another?” He walked up behind her and ran his hands down her slender arms hearing her let out a soft breath. She turned around placing her small hands on his forearms and instantly he was filled with a warming sensation. “You’ve been feeling it too then. Does it seem really sudden to you?” Dean scoffed, “I’m not the best judge when it comes to matters of the heart or feelings or anything past one night only.” His admission flooded him with guilt which was new for him.
She laughed softly, “Well I’m a serial dater. Bouncing from one relationship to the next. Really, I’m no expert in this either. However,” She looked up at him and ran her hands over his arms and up around to the back of his neck, “I do find you incredibly good looking, funny and handy.” She pointed to the half assembled tent chuckling, “I wouldn’t be against this working out even if only for a few days.” Dean watched as she drew her bottom lip in and her teeth grazed across it briefly making him suck in a breath. He slowly leaned down as she tilted her head and his lips had barely touched hers when the door open causing them to jump back for one another. “Dinner is ready.” Brynn said as she giggled going back inside. “Every. Freaking. Time.” (Y/N) said shaking her head as Dean started laughing.
Dean woke up suddenly looking up at the ceiling in his room. Taking a few deep breaths, he glanced around seeing he was in the Bunker and was having a vivid dream about a few months earlier. “Dean, everything okay?” He looked over seeing (Y/N)’s concerned eyes staring at him. He pushed himself up resting his back against the headboard. “I was dreaming about when we first met.” (Y/N) snuggled into his side resting her head on his chest and running her finger over a long scar across his stomach. “When Brynn was under a spell from a witch who wanted to kill you and Sam? Good times, Winchester.” He chuckled at her sarcasm and kissed the top of her head. “Figures that Sam would fall for a girl who was under an evil spell. They seem to be fine now even if she did shoot him in the shoulder. Also! If I remember correctly, we did have some good times during that week especially in the tent.” She looked up at him as he wiggled his eyebrows at her. “Ah yes, the tent that in the middle of our good time fell on top of us.” She was laughing at his pouting face.
“See you choose to remember the bad where I was focusing on the good. I ended up saving a beautiful girl and do you remember what you said to me afterwards?” She smiled fondly at him and got up straddling his lap placing her hands on the back of his neck. “Baby, you’ll be my summer boyfriend.” Dean ran his hands up her bare thighs resting them on her hips. “Yep and look now I’m a fall boyfriend,” he rolled her over onto the bed hovering over her, “Maybe I can convince you to be let me be your winter boyfriend as well.” She was giggling as he leaned down kissing her soft lips. “I’ll have to see how warm you can keep for all those cold winter nights.” He grinned down at her, “I’m positive I can keep you warm if not hot all night long. Starting right now.” He kissed her again before she could say anything else both getting lost in each other.

A Network of Hunters
While I do think having so many people crowding the bunker is infringing on what has become the Winchester’s space, I do like the idea that now there can be another functioning network of hunters who can also use the Men of Letters knowledge (which also happens to be Winchester legacy). For instance, if Sam wanted/needed to hang back he could let his Mom and Bobby handle the hunt. In the case of the first episode though, Sam went because Cas was in trouble. However, I think it’s kind of nice to think that Sam could say to his Mom or Bobby, “I got a bead on a case up in Wichita, Kansas. Bodies without organs. By the looks of it, it’s probably ghouls.”
He can send them out on the cases like the Men of Letters would do. Sometimes, though, I think Sam would have to be on the hunt which is something the Men of Letters tried to pride themselves on not doing (given how disgusted Grandpa Winchester was about dealing with Hunters)?? Yet having Sam as the book knowledge and intelligent person he is, plus having action in the field, it’s like the perfect head of the Men of Letters? Sam being a leader has got me all jazzed. Sam making decisions and trying to keep the pieces together even though he’s hurting? It’s got me loving him even more.
I just really do like the idea that the boys have this network of help they can tap  into. They have sources of trust to help with the hunt or the issues at hand. Yes, it’s a different Bobby and they’re getting to know their risen mother, but still. They have something that I had rather envisioned with Kevin, Charlie, Eileen and some others but ugh...we do have the Wayward Sisters operation in the Sioux Falls area right? So that’s a plus, it’s the extended network from the bunker. I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed for it be like a family business. One day Bobby, Sam, Dean, Cas, Jack, Mary, a few others are sitting at the tables:
“It looks like we got something happening near that Sheriff Mills up in Sioux Falls, should we get the Wayward Sisters on this?” asks Bobby.
“We could call up Jody,” says Sam but he still raised a confused eyebrow.
“I just thought,” the old man shrugged. “I thought that was their club name. The young lady Claire used it last time I called them.”
“That explains it,” Sam nods. Dean starts chuckling next to him.
“Yeah, she did that to me once too when I couldn’t get a hold of Jody,” Mary chimed in. “She answered, “Wayward Sisters. How may we help with the monsters today?”
“Hmm,” Sam pursed his lips with a small smirk. “Let’s list them as the Wayward Sisters then.”
“We must,” Dean agreed, still laughing with his whole body. “It’s pretty clever.”
“Of course,” Cas interjected. “You’d agree with her.”
Dean glared at Cas from across the table. “Why not? It’s a funny way to answer the phone.” Dean started to mock Cas, “Like mister “you’ve reached my voicemail because I don’t want to talk about what happened last night-”
“Ahem,” Mary interrupted them before a domestic dispute happened at the table. “Not the time Dean,” she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Let’s just call them. We’ll call them to handle the case and if they need reinforcements some of us can head that way.” She reached for her cellphone before anyone else could and prayed that Jody answered hers so she didn’t have to call one of the girls.
Oops, my hand slipped into a little fic there. Hehe.

13x10 Deconstruction: Wayward Sisters
How can I not stand up and jump and applaud this setup? How? There is no way I can’t so *stands and claps and leaps for dear life* because this was a brilliantly executed pilot and I sincerely do not think we could’ve asked for, hoped for or wanted more. I got emotional at the unity (and I got chills from Claire’s single-mindedness in the closing scene because yes!) (awesome places to go!) While editing this post, it got long. #surprise
Hope you’ll bear with me!
1. I Am The Fire
This song does things to me, but I’ll put that in a separate post. It’s perfect for each and every one of these ladies (and each and every one of the men as well) (but again) (saving that) and here we get the backstory that ties these women together: a history of violence that, really, none of them chose for themselves, but one which all of them is handling in their own way and as best they know how. Whether this history is external or internal or both, they all share common ground. Fuck yes.
It’s also telling to me how they put Kaia’s three screams to the words “I am the fire” repeated three times. Kaia is fucking awesome and I could spec for a day and a half about all the possibilities surrounding her. Buuuuut let’s press on!
2. Mr Werewolf
Claire is our protagonist, hands down, and what is rather thrilling about the way she’s introduced is how the scene immediately establishes how she views herself and her own identity. It’s done in a way that will resonate with the bookend conversation she’ll have with Jody, because here is Claire in attack mode and she is damn good. No, she’s aces at what she does, actually, and she saves the girl. Telling us what?
That Claire can survive in attack mode just as well as the people she learned from do. (that would be the Winchesters) She’s a hunter. She kills things for “a living”, or what you’d want to call it, and here at the start she sees absolutely no reason to question that this is how things are done, because doing things this way is working for her. It’s kept her alive this long. Making it up as she goes.
So when Mr. Werewolf overpowers her and tackles her to the floor, demanding to know who the hell she thinks she is, she gets the upper hand easily enough, has a blade handy and kills the threat, delivering this line -->
Tumblr media
--> letting us know how she views herself.
And giving us an earful of her arrogance as well, to be honest. One that will also be addressed as the episode moves forward, and one that wholly informs the final few frames we’re given. (which are pretty damn kickass if you ask me)
When Claire enters that cabin, we’re made privy to a professional mercenary who checks that she has the right vic, but doesn’t ask if said vic is okay and doesn’t offer words of reassurance that the vic is safe now: she asks the vic’s name and then focuses on the kill. Fair enough, right? But, again, mercenary as fuck.
This aspect isn’t a bad thing, though. It’s a coping mechanism we’ve come to know well through a certain Dean Winchester. Distancing yourself emotionally to get the job done. This really is how you survive in the life, so it’s understandable in a life and death situation to first eliminate the bad guy (though I do feel Sam’s thoughts would go to the vic, and whether they’re alive and okay, first - and the threat second)
What’s interesting from a character viewpoint is taking Claire’s backstory into consideration and what her mercenary stance might tell us, especially given how she presents herself in dialogue: as a killer. She’s gentle and calming with Amanda, there’s no lack of empathy here, but the next scene we’re given shows us Claire visually distancing herself from the reunion between mother and child.
She sees the girl home, making sure she’s safe, but she doesn’t engage with the moment and, to me, it underlines where she’s currently at mentally - distancing herself from those that would call her family, thinking she’s better off alone, but there’s a slight longing there, an air of melancholy, like she’s looking at something she doesn’t think she can have.
Tumblr media
It’s a sign of what the past has done to her and the scars she carries on the inside, ones she doesn’t really show anyone. I’m intrigued to see how they choose to let them reveal themselves.
This is a girl who has stepped into the shoes of the killer because she refuses to remain a victim of circumstance. She lost her family to circumstance and choices she had absolutely no control over - no wonder she has a problem with authority and has grown a serious need for control and agency.
I must say I love that when Jody calls, Claire drives straight to Sioux Falls without hesitation. She’s loyal to a fault. Well, perhaps a few faults, as we’ll soon be made aware of. (stubbornness being the main one)
3. The Prodigal Daughter Returns
So we get stuff in this sequence. We get a lot of great, awesome stuff in this sequence. Stuff like -->
Tumblr media
Claire feels a little unsure about how she’ll be received and is relieved that Jody’s warm with her, Claire trying to act like she isn’t relieved with the comment of “When did we become huggers?” (hello Dean Winchester Jr.)
Claire and Alex have become sisters, no matter how little either of them may have wanted or expected it to begin with
And with Jody acting like a worried and over-protective parent (hello second Dean mirror), the found family foundation of Wayward Sisters is established right off the bat *crowd goes wild*
We learn that Alex has a job and is splitting her time between normal life - or whatever you want to call it - and helping Jody, which gives us an interesting angle moving forward because instead of there being “you’re in the life and never out of it” we have someone who is managing both and who looks at her role as still being equal because you can be useful in different ways *squealing with delight from this corner*
We also get the introduction between Claire and Patience and the subsequent reveal of Patience’s powers, powers that Claire brush off as unreliable at best, not really taking the pronounced threat seriously
And Patience is revealed to still be on the fence, as well as still being in the dark about exactly how her powers work
Both the fact that Claire so easily dismisses Patience’s vision, as well as Patience herself not being entirely sure about the vision being accurate, are important plants for the fact that this particular vision isn’t actually about Claire at all - but about Kaia.
Moreover, Patience doesn’t know how to interpret her visions yet, she’s not in tune with them, which is a crucial thing to understand about her at this point in time - because it sets up where her arc is headed - and it’s beautifully done.
We get a fantastic exchange between Jody and Claire here, where their mother/daughter relationship is highlighted and where Jody’s previous flaws are revealed - ones that will be stated in dialogue with Donna later: Jody can’t lose another child, her fear is governing her and because she’s held on too tight, she’s lost her hold on Claire completely.
What’s lovely, though, is that this exchange happens right after we’ve gotten that visual of Claire reuniting a mother with her child.
We know what Claire longs for deep down and why that hug makes her give us that awkward line, something that’s reflected after they lose Kaia, where Claire needs her mother figure more than ever and Jody holds her and comforts her. Claire may tell herself she’s a lone wolf and that everyone’s better off if she is - especially her, but deep down what she wants is, of course, a family.
She just doesn’t know it yet, and I’d say she still doesn’t even know it by the end of this episode. But I’ll get to that.
There’s the slightest disconnect between Jody calling Claire with the line “They were on a hunting trip and I haven’t heard from them for a few days” when this, each time this sentence has been used on the show, has been a call to arms, and yet Jody is expecting Claire not to pick up those arms and join the fight because of the vision Patience had of Claire dying.
Jody should know Claire well enough by now to understand that if the people she cares about - and owes her life to - are in trouble, Claire’s not going to sit this one out (Alex knows) but yes, alright, I suppose Jody hoped that Claire would see reason when someone who’s the real deal is telling her she’s in danger. And yes alright, once Claire sees that Patience truly is the real deal it does get to Claire and she takes a momentary step back...
But Jody expecting Claire to have a fear of dying and this fear somehow stopping Claire from getting into the thick of it is a little off to me, given that Claire risks her life on what’s surely at least a weekly basis. Of course, Jody’s motivation for trying to talk Claire into sitting this one out is Jody’s own fear of Claire dying - which is what will be addressed during the course of the episode, so from a narrative viewpoint it makes sense: these are the emotional touchstones we’ll come back to throughout the episode between these two characters where Jody is trying to hold on too tight and Claire continuously makes her own choices, ultimately proving to Jody that she can let go.
So I suppose the disconnect can be forgiven. Perhaps Jody thought this call to arms was the only way to get Claire home, holding onto the hope that once told that hunting will get her killed Claire would finally ease up on this narrow focus of hers and see the bigger picture. (and I’m headcanoning) (let’s move on)
4. You Look Like Biker Barbie
Tumblr media
I just wanted to headline no. 4 with one of my favourite lines of dialogue because bwahahaha ‘tis funny because ‘tis true. And hey I love Claire and her bouncy shampoo-commercial hair, okay? But damn, it must take her a long time to make it look like that in the morning, as well as doing her makeup like wow. Still all good! Just - wow.
We get exposition between Alex and Claire, revealing Alex’s motivations and the difference between them: Alex is there for Jody and Claire takes this comment personally, telling us more about the guilt that Claire feels about her absence than it shows any blame on Alex’s part towards Claire for staying away. (though Alex’s silence might as well be agreement)
Here Alex is also differentiated from Jody in how Alex says she knew how Claire would react to being told about the vision, so perhaps Alex tried to tell Jody that it was pointless believing telling Claire she’s going to die was going to make any difference with regards to Claire’s attitude when it comes to “dive-bombing into every fight”, because Claire’s too pig-headed. (headcanon) (again) (but a reasonable one I should think) (because the rest of the narrative folds around Claire’s continuous dive-bombing strategy) (it’s so pretty)
Now we get Claire and Kaia meeting for the first time and...
Tumblr media
...yeah.
To me this is the equivalent of “Who are you?” as well as establishing an instant, unspoken connection between these two young women, right? Right. A bond, you might even call it. So the parallels with the love story they’ve been building for ten years are immediate, but I’m not going to go into the Destiel of it all here - I’ll save that for another post, because this post is about this Pilot, and  so I’d like to treat it as such. The fact that Kaia and Claire mirror Cas and Dean is a bright shiny hook for those of us who are in the know and recognise the telltale moments that the writers have chosen for us, but it is not so for the GA.
For the GA, this moment is about what I just stated above: it’s about an instant connection that will make the continued bonding between these two characters feel like something inevitable, due to this unquestionable and immediate curiosity with the other. The “Who are you?” moment is crucial for this. I wouldn’t label this love at first sight, I look at it more like knowing that this person could be important to you and understanding that you want them to be.
The “Who are you?” is about wanting to get to know each other better, and, of course, this moment also sets up for the moment of Kaia’s death because this instant connection not only makes Claire’s reaction believable, but deepens it for us as well.
5. Dreamhunter
Kill us all, Bobo Berens, kill us all right now why don’t you? “Dreamhunter”? What absolute fuckery is this??? *let me kiss both your cheeks* *FACE cheeks people not butt cheeks* *goodness me* *I kiss ass but not when wishes have been signed sealed delivered already* *I have some pride thank you very much*
Tumblr media
The scene that sets up Kaia and Claire’s friend-ship is fucking gorgeously written - as most stuff is that’s meant to bring us to the edge of the emotional seat and lean in and just go awwwwwwww yiss. Damn these people know what they’re doing. *heart eyes*
There’s established trust since Kaia has seen Claire actually step in and save her from one of those things that have haunted her dreams forever.
Then they give us a way for them to bond over the fact that they’re both covered in scars, which is just... it made me all emotional, not only because it’s beautifully acted and gives us Kaia and Claire both meeting someone who won’t look at their scars in disgust and turn away, but because:
a) well @margarittet pointed out how of course this is a callback to Gunner Lawless and Dean exchanging war wound stories, but that scene always makes me think of the most epic let’s-compare-scars-scene that I know of, which is from Lethal Weapon III and leads to steamy kiss age
(and when I started writing this review on Friday I was going to say “make of that what you will”) (but since then there has been a Twitter cavalcade of innuendo that is so strong I’d almost go so far as to say they are telling us that if this series gets picked up, well, then Dreamhunter will be a ship that we should want sailing) (like they have launched it with this pilot) (and it may take YEARS for it to reach harbour ((and I hope it does because I love a good will-they-won’t-they)) but they’re not trying to be coy about it in any way) (balls out) (if you will)
b) it made me think of Monster Movie and Dean talking about how he was brought back from Hell (by Cas) without any scars at all (apart from the conspicuous handprint on his shoulder but of course Dean doesn’t mention that one for reasons) and this scene between these two women is just a lovely opposite and yet beautiful link to the love story these two are beginning to mirror in this scene
c) it’s such a strong visual plant of their similarities, their brokenness and their ability to survive by looking out for themselves. Even though neither of them is responsible for the other’s scars the way Cas was responsible for healing every single previous injury Dean had ever sustained, but leaving his own mark on him as one single visual link between them, the visual link between Kaia and Claire through their shared scarring works in the exact same way
6. No, Sam, it’s a lizard --
Tumblr media
It’s amazing that the brothers are in less than ten minutes of this episode and they are, both of them, acting the part of the victims in this one. They also get their asses handed to them by dark!Kaia (serves them right after Dean pulled a gun on our Kaia and Sam went along with it), get tied to a tree each and are about to be served up as dinner to the growling glow-y eyed monster dude. But I’m getting ahead of myself. The lizard exchange keeps making me giggle.
Tumblr media
Look at his faaaaace! :D
I love these men!
7. Little Miss Perfect
Patience is the only character that feels half-baked to me (and not in the I-didn’t-smoke-enough way). I understand it’s par for the course with a character that is in the midst of indecision about where she wants to be, and I doubt she’s done choosing even if she’s sticking around for now, but she’s not as graspable to me yet as the others are. I feel I don’t know who she is, which makes it harder for me personally to relate to her. I want to get to know her!
Her bond with her blood family vs this found family who accepts her as she is, is most likely going to be a part of her journey, but, of course, I also think her being moulded into a fighter is part of it as well. She has a long ways to go when it comes to understanding, accepting and learning to control her powers, which is why the choice they’ve made with Kaia and the possible left turn her journey is taking makes me excited, because before dark!Kaia we had two young women struggling to understand and control their innate power - now we have Patience still in that place, while dark!Kaia appears to be fully in control.
(but that’s just my impression) (I’m so excited by dark!Kaia and where they might take her!!) (but I digress)
Tumblr media
Patience states that she’s not a fighter (not yet but we already know where this plant is headed) and Alex says something wonderful:
Tumblr media
This is wonderful because this is a new attitude they’re bringing into Wayward, and it underlines endgame for the brothers. Not that the brothers won’t fight or be at the forefront of hunting/MoL - but that there are more than one way to fight the good fight.
Alex embodies a healthy attitude towards what she can give and what she wants to give. She’s found a way to help that suits her, rather than fitting herself into a role that might as well have been forced on her. She’s made her choice and comes across as a fucking glorious representation of inner balance. Now, this inner balance might be rocked at some point and the horrors of her past might come flooding back - or she’s meant to be the steady anchor for the rest of the group, the level headed one (which will drive Claire up the wall so goodness all around)
I would love for the group to have a voice of reason. Even Jody lets her emotions get the better of her while Alex is able to take a step back. In many ways, she feels like a Sam-mirror to me. The logical brain of the operation, while she also has those possibly hidden internal reasons for distancing herself and seeking out the “normal”.
There’s also the possibility for real friendship here, a likeness between the levelheaded Alex and the equally realistic Patience. Neither wants to dive headfirst into things, both have a rather solid ground beneath their feet and they haven’t been drifting the way Claire and Kaia have.
Patience was raised in a loving, albeit controlling, home where she’s felt safe and Alex was part of a vampire nest that looked out for her because she mattered to their survival - it was far from a loving family environment, but she was appreciated and had purpose there, she had a place, right?
Neither Claire nor Kaia have ever really had that and of course that’s left scars on both of them.
6. Believe Me Now?
Alex fails to convince Patience to stay and Patience leaves, but has another overwhelming and overpowering vision, which makes her go back to get the others out of the house.
Tumblr media
Claire, however, wants to stay and fight the oncoming attack.
Sidebar: I very much enjoy that there’s planted friction between these two. It’s something to play with as they move forward, and if these two never really see eye to eye on how things should be done, Claire having to submit to Patience and vice versa depending on the situation and which mentality is to be dissected (Patience default setting is flee - same as Kaia’s, while Claire’s is fight) it leaves the door open for character exploration and exposition.
But more than anything, this scene provides us with a beautiful shift for Patience, where she storms into the room frightened and switches into anger when Claire challenges the assessment that if they stay and fight, they’ll die. Patience tells Claire off and she’s in the right to do it.
And then we get another subtle piece of the dreamhunter foundation: even though Claire is ready to butt heads with Patience on whether they’ll actually die or whether they should just risk it on the off-chance that Patience’s visions are bogus (based in Claire’s stubbornness and all that) - Kaia steps in and makes Claire see reason.
And the fact that Kaia can do that is believable because of the establishing scenes between them. The connection is already a fact and here it’s deepened further because Claire’s default position is attack mode - she kills monsters, that’s who the hell she is - and yet one shared glance with Kaia makes Claire give up this position, submit to Patience’s order (for lack of a better word) and flee.
Like fucking hell. So damn pretty.
Also, we get a healthy dose of Claire’s arrogance. Maybe they’ll die, maybe they won’t - she puts the possibility of killing the monsters ahead of keeping those around her safe and this, I would say, comes entirely out of her need for control, which, as already stated, can be traced straight back to her childhood and her father’s choice to let an angel possess him.
I think Claire has made peace with Cas, but I doubt she’s made proper peace with Jimmy. He left her for God and he didn’t even say goodbye. Anyway, stuff to play with in the series and headcanon all rolled into one!
When it comes to the power struggle between Claire and Patience in this scene, it makes me so happy! Not many situations give a writer a free pass with exposition as when two characters are arguing about something, because anger is a gateway to slip-ups and truths being revealed. *rubs hands together at the possibilities* *come on CW*
Add to their clashing dispositions the fact that Patience was wearing Claire’s sweater and had moved into Claire’s room when the two first met - underscoring Claire’s belief that she’s replaceable and her deep insecurity and lack of any self-worth aside from killing monsters - and you have the kindling for amazing internal and external conflict.
7. Better Than the National Guard, Oh, Yes
Tumblr media
Donna Donna Donna Donna Donna! Who doesn’t love Donna Hanscum? (well I do so love her) And in the following badass sequence we get a bit of Donna/Jody teamwork, which is lovely to witness, and I absolutely adore the abandoned shipyard. It’s the most gorgeous location ever and they utilise it so well!
Tumblr media
Claire stays with the “innocents” to keep them safe, but also to sit this one out, as she tells Kaia in yet another heart-to-heart, and they have built this relationship so gorgeously on four scenes (not including the moment of Kaia’s death). Four scenes, guys. That’s how good these fuckers are at what they do.
Claire admits to Kaia that Patience’s vision scared her and goes into even deeper Dean-mirror mode when she talks about how she’s wanted to go out fighting, die while doing “something great” - but knowing that she’s going to die is different than just thinking it, and I wonder how much of this is possible foreshadowing for what’s headed our way for the rest of the season. A change in attitude feels imminent for Dean Winchester as is, and perhaps he’ll start to value living, now that he’s on the cusp of understanding that he deserves happiness and a future (with the man he loves). But that’s spec! (and hope)
(again, not that Dean Winchester won’t fight the good fight) (but perhaps he won’t expect to die - perhaps he’ll fight so that he can live)
Claire, in spite of her fear, is determined to save Sam and Dean because they saved her, and Kaia tells her she’ll go with her, of course echoing that epic scene from 7x23 (gifsets have been made) where Cas and Dean have this very exchange. (adding to the foreshadowing of this love story of ours being moved forward as we enter the second half of this season) (well to my mind anyway)
8. I Need to Save Sam and Dean
Claire and the Waywards go to the shipyard and save Jody and Donna (who are lying in a car in the same position as the brothers in Baby and it gave me feelings to see it) (because Jody and Donna are parental figures and so are Sam and Dean this season) (nice visual paralleling). Claire is all badass with her flamethrower and they discover that the rift is closing. Only instead of fighting it, Jody let’s Claire go, putting her faith in her abilities because it’s what Claire says she needs - she needs to save Sam and Dean - and hell if Claire didn’t just step in and save Jody’s ass.
There’s also the recurring “need” theme this season, but I’ll comment on that in just a moment.
Tumblr media
And we get the fourth moment between Kaia and Claire, where Claire promises to protect her and they walk - hand-in-hand - through the rift and into Monster World.
9. My Hero -->
Tumblr media
I love the fact that Claire really does get to be Dean’s hero, after what’s gone down between them in the past (Claire trying to have him killed and whatnot), and I love how salty Dean is that she manages it, too. That “My hero” is not a little sarcastic because here he is, tied to a tree like a sacrificial virgin, saved by a girl half his age. It’s also wonderful that he’s saved by a woman because of his ongoing need to embrace his feminine side (not to be confused with Dean embracing femininity thank you) (just him finding inner balance)
Of course now we also get dark!Kaia (which felt fairly obvious but also so breathtaking once the reveal happened that I clasped my hands over my heart in a quiet yassssss) and we get our Kaia dying. Is she dead? There are a few ways I can see them taking this, but again, I won’t spec here. It’s just such a shame on all that beautiful character build if our Kaia won’t make a reappearance, but it’s also possible that Claire needed our Kaia in order for her to believe there could be good in dark!Kaia...
The transformative powers of love. That sort of angle, you know?
But, idk, dark!Kaia could be dark af and have a plan to take over our world - who knows? I just know that they have named this ship for us. The showrunner has named it and the two actors are plugging it so it stands to reason that it’s not been clown completely out of the water, yes? Yes!
Jody, Donna, Alex and Patience take care of “the things” still in attack mode - Patience making her first kill after Donna’s encouraging “You got this”, which is another wonderful character building moment, but one that I’m sure Patience will continue to struggle with: is she a killer or is she a helper in other ways? Or both? We shall hopefully see!
And then, my ladies and my gents, we get yet another mirror moment (which has been seen in beautiful gifsets already, of course, because DAMN) -->
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can they get more blatant about the fact that we’re supposed to see a pattern here, when they give us ten years worth of love story condensed into one episode? I think not, my peeps. Good things up ahead or I shall eat that hat I’ve yet to buy. (it will be purchased don’t you worry) (and ingested) (piece by piece) (if we do not get a focusing of the love story the way it’s foreshadowed through these two women)
10. A Whole New World of Bad
(it’s a whole new world of everything this season my dear Dean)
So, crisis supposedly averted, the brothers talk to Jody about Claire. Sam saying she seems pretty “shut down” and Jody agreeing that Claire is going to “need a lot of time”. Now, I’m fairly certain that we can look at this new ship of ours in many different ways and we all would love certain things for it or from it, but here’s what I hope, if the series does get picked up: that they take it slow. That’s what makes a love story epic. Slow burn and lots of build makes it unforgettable.
Why is it I think that again?
Tumblr media
Hmh. *whispers quiet thank yous to Bob Singer*
So you could look at this pilot as setting up Claire and Kaia falling in love within a few days and Claire being literally devastated that she’s lost someone she felt an affinity for. Or you could look at it as Claire being ripped apart with guilt that she failed to keep her promise and protect her new friend, who was always so frightened of going into the bad place before that she drugged herself up for years to try and stay out of there. Claire as a Dean mirror is pretty complete if this is her mentality, right?
I love the foundation for possible love here, but it all depends on where they take dark!Kaia this season, because I’m fairly certain she’ll make a reappearance. I think Dabb even said something to that effect, but don’t quote me because I don’t have the source. (anyone have it - send it over please!)
They keep calling the creatures “things” and we have an episode coming up called The Thing, which is, as mentioned, the reference to be made for the appearance of this adversary, so, safe to say, I’m intrigued!
10. Bookends
I love the setup for this episode. It gives us an arc for Claire that is all about how she’s separated herself from her family because she thought it was better that way - to keep Jody from having to worry. But Jody worrying was always the reason Claire wasn’t allowed to hunt while with her, so the real reason Claire left and stayed away was because she wanted to be able to make her own decisions and risk her life as she’s seen fit.
Jody: Claire, if I put the breaks on you it’s because you can’t go dive-bombing into every fight— Claire: Yes, I can. That is how you save people. Sitting back and making the perfect plan, losing time - that’s how people end up dead. Jody: And if you end up dead? Claire: I won't. Jody: Claire, you can’t just run away from this. Claire: Watch me.
This above exchange is the first proper exchange we have between Claire and Jody and, of course, it sets everything up perfectly (because it’s the setup). Claire puts others before herself, but she’s also falsely safe in her arrogance, an arrogance that is all about what? Performing.
Why has she dressed herself up as a killer? To escape, right? To get away from all the pain in her past, to take control. And this is underlined by Jody calling Claire out on her running away, Claire not lashing out or denying it, but embracing the statement, not allowing it to control her either. Because she’s in control, or so she truly believes.
But then the entire episode unfolds and we land here -->
Claire: You were right. Jody: No, this isn’t on you. Not all of it. I told you to go-- Claire: No. I didn’t even think. I just raced in, no plan. I said I’d protect her. I get it now. Why you are the way you are with me. Because of this feeling. Jody: You don’t have to do this alone. When you’re ready, if you want, we’re all here for you.
So we get to witness character progression here, on Claire’s part and Jody’s: Jody trusts Claire and let’s her go to save the brothers, while Claire realises that rushing headfirst into a situation might not always be the best way to tackle it.
This lesson made my heart sing, not only because it’s beautifully structured and executed, but because this is what I wish - what we all wish - more than anything for TFW, right? For them to start to communicate, stay together and work as a team, which means talking things through and plotting things out - making things up as they go in all honour, but seriously, guys. And, honestly, they will be fucking unstoppable once they get all their ducks in a row. If this episode holds foreshadowing for the love story, then why not TFW as well? The thought makes me happy as all hell!
Claire relating to the worry Jody feels is a gorgeous way to tie this moment entirely to Kaia. Be it guilt or the bond between them or whatever the motivation for Claire’s change in attitude is, it’s still lovely. And short lived. Because then we get -->
11. My Family, My Army
So here Claire becomes a John/Sam/Dean mirror and, in essence, an honorary Winchester because she is setting herself on a mission of revenge.
It would seem - given this mirror - that the Kaia/Claire affair was budding love, and it’s a solid concept, especially since our Kaia seems to be dead and what Claire now has to deal with is dark!Kaia, but what interests me is Claire’s attitude in this montage, her voice over telling us what she’s writing in her journal (yup another John tie-in of course) and it’s rather awesomely chilling:
Claire: I came back to Sioux Falls to save Sam and Dean Winchester, and I did. No - we did. We saved Sam and Dean. All of these amazing women. My family. They don’t know it yet, they think I’m staying because I’m broken, but I’m staying because I need them. My family - my army. The thing that killed Kaia is still out there, and I don’t care if I have to tear another hole in the universe: we’re going to find it, and I’m going to kill it.
So, Claire calls dark!Kaia “the thing” as well. Yes, as mentioned already - intrigued. Not sure if I’m right, but dark!Kaia could clearly control Big Daddy Monster, right? I mean, she called it in for supper. She also seems to be in touch with her powers because she opens that rift and jumps through it. Omfg I NEED TO KNOW MORE! Safe to say, it’s possible she can also control the creatures. Anyway, this is all spec and we might not see her in SPN again at all! I’m just crossing fingers that we do, because of Jack as well!
(Jack needs to be bound for Wayward or I swear!!)
Okay, I was making a point about what interests me in this piece of dialogue above, and it’s all to do with Claire’s attitude, which again is wholly mercenary. She does not care if she has to tear another hole in the universe, she’s going to lead her army into that hole and they will avenge Kaia.
Like oh dear good Lord this is such an amazing place to leave off, because Claire needs some serious baking, you know? She is cookie dough. Maybe she’s even half the ingredients still on the counter and she needs people to ADD stuff, because, oh, Claire, honey, no. (but YES) (I LOVE IT)
Because if this sequence of scenes opens with Claire strapping on the Winchester boots, she doesn’t even flinch as she marches in them straight into Castiel territory. *the brain delights and crackles* She needs her family because she’s realised that they are stronger together, together they will find a better way, but she is wholly selfish about it --> they think I’m staying because I’m broken --> to her mind, she’s not.
What we get is Claire ready to use the people closest to her as a means to an end, and I wonder if she’ll keep this attitude to herself and quietly take leadership, or if they’d angle it differently. Personally I would love it! Because in reality - she is so fucking broken! THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING THINGS THAT CAN BE DONE TO HER JOURNEY!!! (broken characters are the best) (*sadism*)
And with that I believe I’ll round this deconstruction off and say thank you for bearing with me and I hope you enjoyed the episode as much as I did. Man, these ladies deserve to shine! I hope they get to!! Come on, CW!!

Being a werewolf isn't as glamorous as people make it out to be. Most would consider it a gift and others a curse. Me well I'm in between the two. I think it's kind of bittersweet. The heightened senses were great. The speed and the strength are also great, but only when you don't have to suppress it. The biggest burden of being a werewolf is keeping the secret itself. Do you know how hard it is not to use those super reflexes on the soccer field given I may use some of them but that's beside the point. I was born a werewolf so it is a lot easier for me to control myself. I, like most werewolves, use an anchor. My anchor is my best friend, Christina Martinez, the only person I would trust with my life. She is my rock and I don't know what I'd do without her. She does know that I am a werewolf and she took the news really well. It even brought us closer together. Now she is really protective of me which I find funny as it should be the other way around.
"Claire Carson, why haven't you answered any of my texts this morning. I thought some hunter killed you in your sleep." Christina huffed while stomping over to me.
"I didn't feel it go off Chris, I'm sorry." I explain myself.
"Well from now on just know that I'm going to text you every morning and you better answer or I'll hunt you down myself." Christina threatens pointing a finger at me. See protective. I smile and nod in understanding. I stick my hand out towards her, offering it to her she takes it and we walk to class together.
Our first class just happens to be English which I excel at. Christina....not so much.
"Claire what in the hell is this guy talking about." She whispers seemingly frustrated.
"Research papers Chris, research papers." I say with a sigh, this is going to suck. Mr. Arthur is making us write a six page research paper on any supernatural creature of our choice. How do I do this, I mean I am one but I know next to nothing about them.
"Ms. Carson, what is your paper's topic going to be?" Mr. Arthur asks.
"Uh werewolves." I say immediately. Ah shit, I didn't want to say that.
"Nice choice, I'm looking forward to reading it." Mr. Arthur says I slump forward onto my desk. "Ms. Martinez what about you?"
"Banshees?" She says as more of a question than an answer.
"That's a good one it will be interesting for you." He informs her with an encouraging small before moving on to the rest of the class. She shakes her head and looks at me with a glare. 'You are so helping me with this.' she mouths and points at her paper. I chuckle but agree nonetheless 'What are friends for.' I mouth back. She nods seemingly satisfied.
The last bell for school finally rings so Christina and I head to the locker room to get ready for practice.
"I'm coming over after this," Christina announces from beside me, " so we can talk about this stupid paper." She finishes leaving no room for argument so I decide to just stay quiet. "I'm going to need a ride too, my dad took my car this morning." I nod in understanding trying to focus on tying my cleats.
"That's fine I assumed you were coming over today anyway, we have much to talk about." I inform her. "What do you think we are going to do today?" I ask her.
"Run, die, then run some more."she says exasperated. I laugh at her attitude towards today.
I throw my arm over her shoulder as we walk out onto the field, "Don't worry best friend I won't let you die. We have things to do." I assure her. Looking around the field I see the boy's team on one half getting touches. "On second thought, maybe we'll just die together." I say when I realize we're scrimmaging the boys.
"What are you talking about you're going to be fine. You've got those supernatural powers to back you up. I'm just a plain old boring human and guess what I'm the freaking goalie." Christina rants looking like she's about to pass out.
I pull her into my arms and hold her, "I promise I will do everything in my power to not let them get to you." I whisper to her, giving her a reassuring squeeze. She returns it and pulls away. "We better get out there."
"Alright ladies, as you can see we are going to be scrimmaging the boys. I want you to be passing and moving. These boys are going to underestimate you capitalize on that. They think this is going to be an easy game. I heard them say it. But remember hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Coach tells us following quickly with the line up. Christina is in the goal as usual and I am one of the center backs right in front of her, it's perfect. I nod back to her in reaffirming that I will keep my promise. The boys coach blows his whistle and the fun begins.
Automatically our strikers pass the ball back to me. The boys start a full out sprint towards me. I side step the first one and cut past the next. One of my wings is wide open down the field so I send it the ball her way. Getting a good first touch she turns and heads down the sideline towards the goal. One of the backs for the boy's team starts to catch up.
"Man!" I yell, she hears me and crosses it to the sticker in the middle, Brianna. Brianna volleys it into the back of the net. The team erupts into screams, celebrating the goal. The boys are screaming at each other trying to figure out who had who. A whistle blows and we line up for kick off once again. The boys send the ball to the right wing. My defense shifts over to defend, he gets past our left defender with ease following quickly by the wing and makes his way to the stopper. I look at Christina who has panic written all over her face and turn Bach just in time to see the boy slip past my stopper. I have to stop him for Christina. I get into defensive stance and quickly start shuffling waiting patiently for a mistake. One touch gets a little ahead of him and I pounce. I roll the ball to the left just out of his reach. Using his momentum as an advantage I sprint forward as he fumbles to turn.
"Man!" Coach tells, I quickly send the ball to my right flank. She runs down the sideline and attempts to cross but is cut short by a boy defender.
The scrimmage continues on like this neither team scoring anymore goals. I stop runs from coming in and Christina stops the long shots. That is until the boys get a breakaway. Three boys come barreling down the field while the other three defenders and I prepare. My stopper steps to the boy with the ball and the outside backs cover the other two boys I stay back as help. The boy with the ball gets past my stopper so I quickly cover for her. He makes a heavy touch right away and I steal the ball. I can tell he is coming in too fast for me to send the ball down the field so instead I send it out of bounds. He smirks at me then glances at Christina the smirk than becomes a full blown evil grin. I raise my eyebrows in challenge. One of the boys throws the ball in to the closest man there. That boy then crosses the ball to the snoring boy next to me. He settles it and pushes the ball to far ahead of him to draw Christina out of the goal.
"Christina!" I yell while sprinting in her direction. If she gets hurt I'll never forgive myself. I reach them just as Christina scoops up the ball. I throw my body in front of hers shielding her from the oncoming attack.
A solid body hits my back in an odd way causing it to arch away from the pain, but the body keeps coming. I hear a sharp crack signaling that one of my bones had broken. I feel it in my left shoulder. I see that Christina quickly moved out of the way as my body toppled forward. When my body hits the ground I let out a cry of anguish. I faintly hear the gasps of my teammates plus some.
"What the hell is your problem? You had plenty of time to stop. What exactly were you trying to accomplish?" I hear Christina fume. The boy in question doesn't respond he just walks away.
"Chris," I call in a small gruff voice. My best friend pushes to my side.
"Hey C, are you alright?" Christina asks her tone filled with worry.
"I'm healing but I need you to help me up so they don't ask any questions. I really don't want them poking and prodding me." I say quickly. She nods and pulls me up before coach has the chance to make it over.
"Carson are you alright?" Coach asks.
"Fine coach, I think it was just in my head."I inform her.
"That didn't sound like it was just in your head." She says suspiciously.
"I'm fine coach really." I attempt to reassure her. She nods and walks away calling practice for today. My teammates start to crowd around me poking and prodding my shoulder.
"Excuse me ladies, pardon me, coming through." A male voice says loudly pushing through the crowd. Chistina quickly steps in front of me, effectively blocking my view.
"What are you doing here asshat?" Christina asks viciously.
"Well this asshat would like to apologize." The boy says calmly. Seemingly unaffected by Christina's apparent rage. I step beside Christina and get a better look at the boy.
"The name is Nathan by the way, my friends call me Nate." the boy now called Nathan tells me.
"Well Nathan," Christina says with an attitude, "are you going to get on with an apology we're not going to accept or should we just walk away now?" Nathan glares at Christina, then back at me.
"Anyways, I just wanted to genuinely say I'm sorry, I tried to stop myself." Nathan explains and Christina coughs bullshit under her breath making me smile. "But I also wanted to come over here to tell you two that you guys are amazing players, no wonder your team has won state the past three years."
"Thank you, that's very nice of you," I say disinterested.
"How about we bring it in to ease this tension." Nathan says, spreading his arms out for a hug. I cautiously step towards him. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me close. "You know Claire you are a very beautiful girl," Nathan whispers in my ear, "and I think I just found out how special you are. Don't doubt that I won't make you mine soon."I shove him off of me glaring at him. He smirks at me.
"Not even your dreams there big boy." I tell him returning his smirk. With that I turn, grab Christina's arm, and stalk towards our locker room.
"Ummm do I even want to know what that was back there?" Christina questions with a raised eyebrow.
"It was nothing just the usual guy being a perverted jerk." I lie, she looks at me suspiciously, but doesn't question is any further knowing she's not going to get anywhere. We change in silence for the rest of the time.
When we both finish changing we head to my car. I see Nathan on the other side of the parking lot watching us intently. I place my hand on Christina's back and push slightly to make us walk faster. She turns to questions me, I give her a look and she hastily jumps into the car. I follow right behind.
I put the car in reverse and peel out of the lot as fast as possible. "What the Heck is going on Claire, you're freaking me out!" Christina says panicking.
"Nathan is what's going on. I'm pretty sure he has an idea as to what I am and he's completely obsessed with me." I say rushed looking in my rear view mirror to see if we have a tail.
"Claire!!" I hear Christina yell. My eyes divert to the road in front of me only seeing headlights. We both let out a scream as I jerk the steering wheel to the right. I lose control of the car and it spins out to the left out. I put my arm over Christina's body to hold her against the seat. The other car hits the tail of my car and pushes it off the road.
The car rolls three times down the small hill, then stops standing on its roof. My head throbs from the impact against the seat. My eyes glance over to Christina seeing that she is perfectly fine just in shock. I unbuckle my seatbelt and Tumblr out is my seat.
"Chris, hey look at me Christina, we have to get you out of this seat alright?" I say in a small voice. She nods slowly, finally looking in my direction.
"Claire you're bleeding... Like a lot." she whispers.
"I'm fine for now let's just get you out of this car for now." I reassure her. She nods in agreement and reaches for the buckle. Releasing the buckle she drops into the roof landing on her back.
"Ow," she groans. I grab under both of her arms and drag her out of my wrecked car. "You know I feel like I should be the one dragging you out of the wreckage right now." Christina informs me looking at my face. "Claire you don't look so good," my best friend says worried.
"I'm alright," I lie finally pulling us far enough away from the car to be safe. I lay down on the soft ground exhausted and feeling like someone has taken a sledgehammer to the back of my head. I faintly hear Christina calling for help and my eyelids grow heavy.
An outline of a well built man enters my line of sight getting closer and closer. The man finally kneels beside me and I make out his dark hair, green eyes, and trouble looking features.
"Well that was one hell of a way to say hello" I say to the man with a weak smile. With that I fall into the darkness.
Tell me what you think it’s my first attempt at this kind of writing

That Vanished Abode There Far Away, A Season 13 Drowley AU - Chapter Two
“Nothing?“ Sam asks helplessly, reading Cas‘ face as the angel appears in front of him.
He shakes his head. “I’m sorry. Claire and the others have asked every hunter they know; none of them have seen Dean, and it can reasonably be assumed that they would recognize him. You’re well-known within the community.”
“I still don’t understand what happened” Sam says, trying to remember the exact chain of events once more.
Crowley stabs himself, and nothing makes sense anymore.
At least that’s how Sam will remember it.
All they know is that Lucifer, still as power-hungry and desperate as ever, has opened a portal to a world where the Apocalypse took place and plans to kill Michael there to take over.
Sam wasn’t prepared in the least for Crowley sacrificing himself for them – and as it seems, neither was Dean, for he’s just staring blankly at the corpse of the former king.
“Well” Lucifer drawls just as Cas appears behind them, “That was needlessly dramatic. Anyway, you’ve been quite the nuisance to me and I would rather you –“
Suddenly, his eyes sparkle in that way Sam remembers only too well from years down in Hell, and Dean abruptly starts dragging him and Cas away.
“That’s not a good sign” he hisses “We need to get out of here before –“
Lucifer laughs. “Yes, yes, a wonderful idea – making the Winchesters and their pets lose themselves. It will be...”
He trails off and raises a hand.
And that is when the other angels – Michael leading them, Sam presumes – attack.
Unfortunately, the spell has already taken half-effect, and with the Grace of the other angels, it all clashes, and next thing he knows, they’re running towards the portal and everything lying around is being thrown at them, Crowley’s corpse among the rubble.
He wonders if the picture would be somewhat grotesquely funny if they weren’t fleeing for their lives.
Dean shoves Cas through the portal before he can protest and gestures for Sam to get through first; he knows better than to argue.
But he still keeps an eye on him, and so he witnesses Crowley’s body smacking into Dean, and them both colliding with him before he can duck away.
They fall through the portal together, and then –
“Dean got through the portal. I am absolutely sure of it.”
“I see both him and Crowley as well” Cas says.
“That’s another thing that doesn’t make sense. Dean disappearing is one thing, but who’d want Crowley’s corpse?”
Again, Cas can only shrug before replying, “We have told every hunter we know, and even some creatures. If Dean shows up, we’ll know it. We will find him, Sam. We always do.”
He nods. He can only hope it will be soon.
Rosemary is ecstatic the next morning. “I can tell the spirit is gone – how did you boys do it?”
“We know a little about such things” Michael answers carefully.
“I cannot thank you enough – whoever they were, they have been suffering long enough.”
Michael nods. He’s feeling a bit... strange. Not because of the ghost... he knows he can handle those alright but –
Exactly because of that. Knowing how to do stuff, and having no idea why. Realizing he’s done this often before, but not remembering a single instance of it.
And then there’s this weird sense of déjà vu he got this morning after he woke up; Roderick was in the bathroom, but he could hear him muttering to himself about the bad quality of his clothes, and it almost seemed – it almost seemed –
“Well, then” Rosemary says, interrupting his train of thought, “I think I promised you breakfast...” Suddenly, her smile drops and she looks away. Michael glances at Roderick, noticing that his shoulders are tense. He noticed it too.
“I – “ Rosemary bites her lip. “I just never thought someone could actually do anything about it. And when you two... I thought you were just curious or homeless. I didn’t – you have to be, like my grandmother told me – but they said there were no more hunters...”
“Wait, you know about hunters? And what do you mean, there aren’t any?” Michael asks. There have to be hunters. Otherwise, who’s there to deal with ghosts and –
“The Men of Letters” she says quickly, almost as if it’s forbidden.
“The Men of Letters?” Roderick repeats. “I thought they were all gone – that is I am rather certain there are a few left in America –“
He sounds about as confused as Michael feels. There is something about the Men of Letters, he feels certain; something he should know, but doesn’t, which makes it rather likely that it has to do with his memories; and he pushed on too –
Excruciating pain almost lets him drop to his knees, but Roderick catches him.
“Michael? Are you alright?”
Actually showing he cares. Amazing.
The thought is accompanied by another small stab of pain, so Michael ignores it and takes a few deep breaths.
He has no idea what just happened, but it did as he concentrated on something specific,s something that might be connected with him. When he opens his eyes – Roderick having placed him on a chair in the kitchen in the meantime – he finds his... hunting partner studying him, a shrewd look in his eyes.
He thinks something’s up too.
“Sorry for that” he says, turning to Rosemary, “I’ve got a bit much on my mind, these days.”
She gives him a glass of water. “I’m sorry to hear it... do you want painkillers?”
He shakes his head; the pain is all but gone at this point. “No, thank you. but please, go on.”
She looks hesitant.
“Look” Roderick says calmly, “It sounds as if these Men of Letters are up to no good. I understand if you’re scared, but it seems we should be as well.”
Michael almost snorts; despite only having spent a day with the guy, he can’t imagine Roderick being scared of anything. He certainly took the whole waking up on a field with amnesia and a hunter next to him thing rather well.
Rosemary hesitates, then nods. “I guess you’ll need to know. We’ll talk over breakfast.”
Considering Michael is famished, it sounds nice.
“But first... Let me get you something else to dress. I still have a few of my late husband’s dress shirts, at least..”
He has to admit that it sounds heavenly. Their t-shirts have definitely seen better days.
While Roderick’s changing in the bathroom – he’s left the door partially open so they can talk, and Michael’s sitting down on Rosemary’s bed so he doesn’t catch a glance of something he has no business to see – they talk.
“What the hell happened to you back there?”
“I’m not sure” Michael says, taking off the dirty t-shirt. Thank God Rosemary’s husband was rather tall. “I was thinking about the Men of Letters and got the feeling I’d run into them before... or at least that I used to know more... and suddenly, my head started to hurt.”
It’s an understatement, but he has the feeling Roderick gets it anyway.
“And then when I stopped thinking about it...” he trails off, the shirt half unbuttoned. “It just... stopped. As if...”
“As if whatever caused our amnesia – I think we both agree that there must be a spell or curse or something else involved – made sure that we wouldn’t remember by building in a safeguard –“
Roderick stops talking and Michael raises his head to see him staring at him, his eyes lingering on the expanse of skin he can see through the shirt before he clears his throat and continues smoothly, “So that we wouldn’t even try and recall our past lives.”
Michael ignores their... moment and instead nods. “Sounds about right. Makes this whole thing even more damn inconvenient, though.”
“It seems to complicate the matter, I agree. But we’ve still got options. I would recommend not thinking too hard about things until we have a base of some sorts.”
“Alright, we’ll just play along for the time being, then” Michael says.
Roderick frowns. “I know this is the right thing to do, but I get the distinct feeling that I prefer having plans.”
“Well, it can’t be helped, your Highness” he says lightly, only to be treated to what he must have looked like when the spell made him regret ever having through about his past.
Roderick looks at him with a puzzled expression, then grimaces and crumbles to the ground before Michael can reach him.
He does what he can for him in the few minutes that he’s under but still feels rather disproportionately relieved when his eyes blink open. “So that’s what you meant. It’s rather unpleasant, I will admit that.”
He snorts.”You can say that again.”
Roderick sighs. “We really need to work on that.”
“We do, but in the meantime, there’s breakfast to be had and a lady’s waiting.”
Roderick raises an eyebrow. “We better not steal even more of her time, then.”
Michael helps him up and tells himself his hand doesn’t linger on his biceps for just a moment.

13 Wishes for Season 13
So, I did this last year when I made a wishlist for Mary’s character in season 12 (find it here), and I thought it’d be fun to do the same for this season and see what I come up with!
P.S. There aren’t really any spoilers, so I didn’t tag it, but if you want to wait and read this after you’ve gotten the chance to watch 13x01, you can do so!
1. Jody to finally see the bunker and finally meet Castiel.
Y’all, I have been waiting so long for this to happen, you don’t realize. From the chatter I’ve been hearing, the Wayward Daughters backdoor pilot is coming after Castiel returns from The Empty. I figured that the backdoor pilot would focus mainly on the ladies with Sam and Dean there mostly as background pieces to sort of pass the torch. But since Castiel is apparently counted as a lead character now, maybe he could be there too? How awesome would it be for Cas to meet Jody and the rest of that cast, huh? They already have a connection through Claire, so why not?
2. A season-long arc between Sam and Jack
It’s about damn time we got a new dynamic on the show. I’m confident that this will come to pass, but I really would like to see Sam acting as a sort of mentor and friend to Jack. After all, both of these two were/are object of Lucifer’s desire, they both have powers they can’t always control, and they seem to be innately good. Sam could definitely offer advice or even comfort to Jack since he can easily empathize with his situation.
3. An Evil!Jack arc
(This is another one that I’m sure will happen in some form.) Of course I prefer the cinnamon roll of a character that we were introduced to in 13x01, but I feel like his character development would be severely lacking if he didn’t go dark side at some point. I don’t really care how it happens: he feels betrayed by Cas and/or the Winchesters, Lucifer somehow influences him to his side, he thinks he’s doing the right thing when really he’s not (just like his daddy). I don’t care. But I think seeing an evil Jack would be really awesome.
4. Bobby, Bobby, Bobby
I mean, right? You cannot give us a glimpse of Earth 2 Bobby Singer in 12x23 and not give us more in S13. I know he isn’t the same Bobby that we’ve known this whole time, but honestly, I’m just jazzed to have some of him back. I’m just a little fearful that he’ll be in maybe three episodes tops? And that doesn’t suit me at all. Bring me all the Bobby, please.
5. Returning characters
We’ve all been talking about the possibilities that this other Earth could bring up. A parallel world that’s basically the same as the one we know but without Sam and Dean. So, that means you could bring back... well, anybody. I heard a rumor that Osric was set to come back this season, so maybe we’ll get to see Kevin? Or Charlie? Benny? All I’m saying is if they don’t bring somebody back, I’m gonna be mad. Earth 2 is a total loophole to revisit some fan favorites. And listen, it doesn’t all have to be the good guys. Bring back fuckin’ Abaddon or Azazel or Ruby. Take full advantage of the situation you’ve written yourselves into, writers. Don’t let me down.
6. A real, lasting solution to Castiel’s burdened soul
For the past six fucking seasons Castiel has been on a fucking journey of self-loathing and self-hatred. It’s been exceptionally highlighted in the past two seasons, and not enough has been done to fix it. I’m not trying to downsize all the goodness that came from the Winchesters in S12, but there was also a fair amount of belittling, especially from Dean. Shit, that’s all Cas’s arc has been for the past two seasons. This season, I’d like to see a change. I’d like to see a real, extended conversation with Castiel and Dean (because, let’s be honest, Dean’s opinion means the most to Cas) where Dean sits him down and says something to the effect of “You’ve got to stop trying to prove yourself, Cas. You don’t need to. You have always been the strongest player on the bench, and I need you to believe that. I do.” You know? I just need for someone to put their damn foot down and make Cas see how amazing he is so he stops getting stabbed in the damn chest trying to prove himself.
7. A Sam-centric storyline
I’m gathering that this season is going to be Cas-centric at its forefront, which is beautiful. He deserves that, he’s never had that, it’s his time to shine. However, Sam has been sidelined for too long. I don’t care if it’s a subplot, but I need for Sam to be a part of the actual plot for the first time in forever beyond him fighting alongside Dean. I get it; Sam’s the one who’s got his shit together, so why would he get into the kind of trouble that would warrant a solo story arc? Maybe he doesn’t have to get into any kind of trouble. Maybe he could just become a leader of some sort (like we saw in 12x22). Maybe something with his psychic abilities could be touched on again (which I heard might actually happen). Maybe you could stop painting him as a character to be sidelined and actually give him his own stories again. How ‘bout that, SPN?
8. Explosions
I don’t really know why, maybe because of the grenade launcher last season, but I really wanna see something blow up. I mean, Jack can do so much, right? So, let’s blow some shit up!
9. Weird demonstrations of Jack’s powers
Like I said, Jack can do a ton of stuff with his powers, so I’d love to see an episode (which is probably the Scooby-Doo episode) where Jack’s powers just fuck something up so badly. He could accidentally turn the Impala pink. He could replace Sam’s fancy shampoo with toothpaste. He could be the reason Cas has highlights this season (but for real, have you noticed Misha’s hair lately?). I just want some funny shit to happen because there’s a juiced up spawn of Satan living in their house.
10. Chuck
I know he’s not going to bring Castiel back. Hell, I’m guessing Cas--and maybe Mary--are gonna save their own damn selves. But, even if it’s just for five minutes, it’d be cool for Chuck to come in like, “Dean, I heard your prayer, but there’s nothing I can do.” And then Dean would 100% try to kill God himself before Chuck poofs away.
11. Teleportation station
Honestly, if Cas is going to be back at full power, I want him to get lit about it. I just want to see him so damn happy to be back, ya know? He’d say, “I’ll drive” before a hunt and then boop Sam, Dean, and Jack to wherever they were going. He could flash his wings at random intervals. Shit, he could break Sam’s friggin’ leg and go, “Wait, watch!” and then heal him. Then Sam would go, “You could already do that, you marble!” And Cas wouldn’t even care because he’s so happy. Tell me that wouldn’t be cute.
12. Crowley appreciation
Sadly, we all know Mark isn’t coming back to SPN, at least not any time soon. However, we can still give Crowley the respect he deserves this season. I understand that Crowley wasn’t TFW or family or anything, but he was something to Sam and Dean (as we saw in 13x01). I’d just like to see more comments made about wishing Crowley was there to help them with something or absentmindedly saying the kinda miss him. Ya know, just something to show everybody that they haven’t forgotten about him and that he meant something to the Winchesters.
13. A new grieving process for Dean
I just made a post about this today, but I really want to see Dean grieve differently this season. For one, he’s lost so much at this point that I think it warrants more than the moody, drink the pain away, ignore the crushing feeling of loss, fight through it response that Dean normally has. For two, he made so many steps last season toward a more open and vulnerable expression of his feelings, and brooding doesn’t line up with that. Also, there’s a big difference this time around: Cas. He’s never lost Cas like this before. Not this completely, not for this long, not this far into their relationship. Say what you want, but Dean’s relationships are all different. From Sam to Mary to Crowley to whoever, Dean has a unique relationship with all of them. And losing Cas should result in a different kind of grieving. Especially considering the shit they’ve been through, especially because of all the shit Cas gave up for him. Dean’s lost plenty, but this time needs to be different.
Well, that’s all I got! Let me know if you agree or disagree or think some of these will happen. I’m excited for the season, for sure. Hopefully, it’s everything I’m wishing for!
