Hyrule and dungeons-

So apparently Hyrule has a spider sense for dungeons

I think that the layout further proves (kind of) that this is close to Hyrule's era/is his style dungeon.

'With this architect, you don't know what could be around the corner'- but he does and can- because this is the type he's familiar with

Anyways I appreciate the detail of Hyrule knowing/feeling the chest, because from what I've played of the og Zelda that's fairly accurate. With the game guides and how the players get around- blowing stuff up randomly doesn't always work to find something, but just knowing does, because that's the only way to get through productively.

I don't know if that made sense. Hyrule's games and dungeons are hard- I couldn't get through by just finding things- because all the walls look the same! What a cool character trait to introduce: 'lucky guess'

And don't give me a heart attack like that gosh Hyrule!

the idea of a Rusty Venture dumped on and raised by his unknown maternal family vs a Rusty Venture as a kept clone-son who serves as a PR boost and legacy failsafe

kiddo!rusty has lighter hair, freckles, and tanner skin b/c he isn't reborn every few weeks so this Rusty actually sees some sun. kiddo! also has a healed scar from cleft palate surgery from when he was littler, and the outfit is inspired by photos of real kids in the 70s and rusty's own sense of style outside of his speedsuits

I feel as though we as a community don't talk about Reaver's fear of death enough. This man was so afraid of getting old and dying that he went out seeking, (or at the very least stumbled upon and chose to interact with), an ancient demon cult that could grant him the immortality he so desperately wished for. He had no way of knowing the real consequence of his actions, says so himself in his diary that he had no intentions of Oakvale paying the price for his choice, but they still did. And he has to live with that.

He chooses to live with that regret, and continues to choose suffering from nightmares every night, constantly looking over his shoulder, being scared of every shadow and non-lit room, and playing an annual game of chess with a court of shadows where he repeats the same choice that got him into this mess in the first place over and over again instead of just accepting that he's human and can die like everyone else. Why is he so damn afraid of dying? Obviously, death is a common fear, but to the extent that it is for Reaver? No, there's more there. Did he lose someone as a kid? A parent? A grandparent? A sibling? Did he have to sit by someone's bedside, watching as they slowly slipped away? Did he have to watch someone he cared for bleed out and take their last breaths, choosing to carry it all with him for the rest of his too-long life? Or did he just simply want to live for as long as possible, scared of missing out on a future he already gave away, and uneasy over the fact that death is so unknown and permanent? And ofc the mess with Oakvale only served to solidify that fear in both his heart and mind after the fact, as if it wasn't already bad enough. What a vicious cycle.

There is truly so much we don't know about Reaver, especially in regards to his younger days in Oakvale, and it's something I wish was explored more. Though I do think keeping it all lock and key is very on brand for Reaver, and I appreciate the mystery around it. Getting info outta that man must have been like pulling teeth, but more painful...and probably way deadlier. Lmfao.

I finally figured out how to get into the Pentiment game files (after downloading five different extractor programmes lol) and decided to look through the glossary page marginalia that I ignored/missed on my first playthrough.

We all know our man Andreas is a cat fan, so it’s no surprise that there are quite a few drawn throughout the game. But there are also these two cats, which aren’t quite in keeping with the style of the others:

It’s a lovely piece of art, just like everything else in the game and now I can access the texture files I’m one step closer to making a sticker set for my laptop lol. But look at it for a bit longer and then tell me they don’t remind you of one of our fave Pentiment couples…

I think @mintymyths has mentioned before that some of the illustrated frogs share a likeness with Andreas — so I like to think that these animal cameos are a recurring artistic feature of his <3

So I always get disappointed when people dont add body hair to characters who should have it, however, after spending 30 mins adding hair to some Rust doodles/sketches, I 100% understand why people skip it cause my hand is fucking cramping lmao

Hob loves his grey hair.

Honestly. Means he was tough enough to survive things that killed most everyone he knew as a lad; means he held onto life with both hands and a fierce grin, held on hard and fast and stubborn and made it well into adulthood. It's proof he'd stuck around long enough to actually start aging, and the fact that he's now got centuries under his belt with this badge of Life Lived threaded into his hair just makes it all the better.

On top of that. That brush of silver at his temples? It looks good. Not even in a vain way, understand, although he supposes he's alright—but anyway. The greys. They lend him a certain visual gravitas that serves him well in the classroom, for a start. They give him flexibility in his visual presentation—dye them out when he starts over, let them fade back in after several years, highlight and embellish them toward the end, and it's possible to stretch each lifetime a little longer, if he wants, before moving on.

But also? Dream has said that they 'become him', in that warm rumbly tone that turns Hob's insides to goo, and that's perhaps the most important reason of all.
