Self indulgence drabble: Captain Price x Y/N x Nikolai, where reader is a metalcore and deathcore fan.

Price has been trying to get your attention for months and slowly it has been working. You’ve both got so much in common, but the main thing that caught his attention was your taste in music. You both enjoyed rock and metal, he was thrilled, well more than thrilled. Purposely letting you ride shotgun so you two had control over the music choice on long journeys much to the protest of Soap and Gaz. Ghost never cared, he was too busy in his own head to care what music was playing.

Slowly but surely, you and Price were getting closer. There was little touches he started to introduce that you wouldn’t allow anyone else to get away with, more subtle places of his hands when he was round you. Touching the small of your back, always offering to give a shoulder massage when you complained that you ached there. And well, you too enjoyed his attention. If anything, you were confused why he was taking such a long time to say something. It was getting to a point where you were confused if he was simply being too friendly or if he did really like you like that.

Everything changed the day that you finally met Nik. Walking into the hanger to meet him for transport, your eyes lit up the sound of Slaughter to Prevail playing, excited to hear a band that you were a fan of too. You were the one who went straight for the open laptop and saw Spotify, checking out his playlist before you paused it so you could all talk. But Nik, suddenly he had your interest more than anything. Eagerly waiting for Price to introduce you properly to his comrade once the occasion wasn’t as professional, you went in for it.

Sure, you and Price had bonded over your love of metal music, but it wasn’t this genre of metal. A genre you had grown up adoring, being at the front of the true rise of the orignal scene and emo world, a dirty little secret you kept close knowing the guys would probably ridiculous you over it. Even if Ghost was the one who wore a skull mask. You two had walked off discussing groups, sharing your Spotify profiles, not realising behind you were the glaring eyes of Captain Price watching his close friend swoop in and steal the person he had been slowly pining after. All he got was a slow pat on his shoulder of understanding from Gaz and the stifled laughter from Soap when he realised what was going on.

"This sudden burst of vitality is heartening, and I believeth his betrothed is the one to whom the credit should go."

"Certainly. The two of them are looking happier by the minute."

"Johnny, you fool! Don't just run off like that, you're still injured!"

"Yes, please give your body some more time to recover, and- Oh gods, Mistress Tataru! Are you alright?"

"It's good to be back on solid ground, my friend. Do you need a hand?"

"...Thanks, everyone, but I'm fine down here right now. Just a minute longer..."

I got most of the idea for this upon rereading this ficlet I wrote about Tataru's anxieties watching the rest of the Scions depart to close out Endwalker. I wanted to make this pose showing the moment they meet back up and live happily ever after!

may i introduce you all to my favorite vs void playthrough of all time:

the sheer fkin passion this man put into reading the dialogues is so commendable. his bf voice is so peak. the adjustments he made in void's lines is like he reached deep into void's soul and pulled out the words he wished he could say. he captured the rage of a.c. so well in his voice. i've rewatched this playthrough several times over the course of last 2 years and it has yet to fail bringing me joy every single time. it's so underrated. /gen /lh

So I was talking to my siblings the other day and we brought up who out of us had actually beaten any zelda games, @dragonairice had beaten the windwaker, the other had beaten minish cap, I on the other hand, was sure I had beaten one of them, but could not for the life of me remember which one it was, I looked through the games list on the wiki only to find yes I haven't beaten any of the mainline games yet. It wasn't until looking through my screenshots did I get a painful reminder of which zelda game I have in fact completed:

NG84: I am such a poser though. I only watched 1 with my parents ( I had a great time, my parents did not), 2, and tried to watch 3 for Lynn and Amanda but had to turn it off when they destroyed the stuffed animals. I'm such a weenie.

NG84: Yes, I do listen to heavy music, but on the lighter end of it. I like the Doom soundtrack, but Gods by Sleep Token, Lingua Ignota, Crisis Sigil, etc. is about as heavy as I get. No death metal for me unfortunately, my ears can't take it.

"Allowing for the past of the selected to be perceived through a Vision..." By no means were they natural dreams either. Recalling instances of an exact taste, of either the harsh collisions of wind and rain beating down upon his figure, to the very real pain of injuries endured...

Just how much did it allow for the soul to connect to those instances? Is this a unique circumstance to show how much a Vision is part of the human body?

At best it serves as avid reminders when it comes to his own, that just leaves a question for Thoma now, just how often has such a situation happened to anyone else?

i personally have very complicated feelings on the Gotham Knights video game and the routes it takes with characterization. i think it has a charm to it and it goes in an interesting direction with everyone (especially within the confides of the plot of the game) but it does have certain moments that veer painfully fanon for me. (such as: the dialogue where Tim drinks too much coffee) it's an interesting story for what it is but i don't view it comics-based for characterization and therefore don't care to interact with it much for like. fanfic purposes.

that *said* though. i do have to give the game some kind of credit for giving one of the top five JayTim moments that lives rent free in my mind. every since i played the game, the cutscene lives in my mind daily. it's the specific cutscene where Jason and Tim are arguing about whether or not Jason's non-lethal bullets are too dangerous for the field, and the argument leads to TIm *standing in front of the target* Jason is shooting and telling Jason to shoot him. it lives rent free for me. i never stop thinking about this.

the absolute certainty Tim has that he is in no danger standing in front of Jason, who has a loaded gun pointed at his face. the way Jason *hesitates* for just a moment before lowering the gun. he thinks about it for just a second. Gotham Knights JayTim seem to get along very well and can rely on each other, but Jason still clearly holds a bitterness about his death and Tim that flickers through in some lines of dialogue under the guise of jokes. especially since this game deals *heavily* with concepts of Pit Madness causing an altered state of consciousness, i think it's believable that occasionally, Jason fights the urge to fight and hurt Tim for the feeling of being replaced.

i like their tension so much in this canon. they get along but you can *tell* Tim is afraid of addressing Jason's trauma or even addressing Jason head-on, and Jason leans into spooking Tim about it. which isn't very comics feeling in their dynamic, but it is an interesting way to place their dynamic if you're playing with a more timid Tim who's newer to the role of Robin. (which he seems to be in-game) he really doesn't want to offend Jason, or worse, piss him off. but he'll still face Jason head on for things like this, while completely aware of what Jason could be capable of.

and Jason seems very protective of Tim and respecting Tim as a Robin in typical Jason fashion. if Tim pushes, Jason *will* relent. he knows this is a kid who's proved himself and should be treated with equal respect, sometimes even more than Dick and Babs do in-game.

so for all that to culminate in Tim stepping in front of Jason's loaded gun that he *knows* is on the edge of being too dangerous, just to force Jason to listen? it's the most unhinged way Tim could've gotten his point across in this scene. he was literally daring Jason to hurt him and playing with a very dangerous fire. but he did it anyway bc he believed he could make Jason heel just at the thought of hurting Tim. and he was *right*. they're gay and i'm feral ty.

You know, now that you’ve mentioned it on my amir post. Amir’s scars around his eyes on how you said that salt water is more conductive. It also just hit me that when you have a high friendship rank or partnered with him, Amir lets his guard down around you and trusts you a lot (the drifter) and cries, and he cries a lot actually in the conversations you share along with him that are extremely personal or traumatic. 🥺

I’ve spent untold hours analysing the chat flowcharts, visual character design and insights, cutscene expressions, everything.

I am absolutely feral and playing into the sillies but Amir makes me feel so many more things beyond that.

There’s a reason one of the first posts I ever did (and apparently it’s still the most liked post) on this blog was about the side of his that really shows up when he comes into the backroom. The side of his that he slowly unravels as he trusts the Drifter more. There is a reason why the dialogues where he opens up about his problems open up the path to dating him. And why lack of support means he’d break up with you.

I still wish they kept at least some of the Tennocon preview mall quotes because the brain hug quote and Eleanor talking about Amir being one of them live both in my head RENT FREE.

Also while for example Lettie’s retelling is also terrifying, the way Amir describes his experience, him needing two tries to tell the full story (first try he stops before he tells the story of turning Protoframe), the sheer spectrum of trauma and terror in his retelling of the events made it feel REAL. And the emotions I felt were just as real.

Bioware games in the aughts really went off with their cinematography. Like, the cut scenes are doing a lot of heavy lifting with their in game graphics. Obviously the graphics look dated now, but even for the time, they weren't top of the line. But they did such a great job setting the scene with camera angles, lighting, character animations, music and such that these cuts scenes are still pretty compelling.

For example, I always watch the full Battle of Ostagar cutscene in Dragon Age Origins because it does such a great job building tension and putting you in the mindset of the soldiers.

Another scene that was done so well it pretty much lives rent free in my head is when Sovereign takes over the Citadel in Mass Effect.

I don't really have any deeper analysis than that, I just think these scenes are really neat and I appreciate the artistry that went into making them.
