#rem rambles #polls #tumblr polls #life stuff #architecture #i am fucked #how the hell will I survive the next four years the first year is killing me #sorry the third option’s wording is Like That #that character limit is a bitch #unrelated things that are stressing me out:#my hair is falling out because the water here is different and Bad #I only just did my laundry after two weeks #my period is about to start which means I’m craving a lot of sugar and I’m getting muscle pains #neither of which bodes well because the walk to class is 10 minutes from my dorm and it’s blistering hot #plus I can’t afford to feed the sugar craving #I also love on the top floor of my hostel and it’s boiling here all the time #and while we’re technically allowed a cooler we have to pay extra plus my roommate is out for a few days and I can’t get it w/o her #also my phone charger broke and I cannot afford a replacement at this time so I’m using my friend’s #plus finals are next month in the boiling heat in a classroom on the top floor with no AC #plus the electricity cuts out sometimes which leaves us without fans #which isn’t great

Another design that had eluded me for years, this one undoubtedly one of the most important out of my FR dragons: my random progen, Aruna. I've gone through multiple unposted iterations with her over the years, never quite feeling any of them, until this one struck the other day

I'm not the biggest fan of this paper, but the Derwent Coloursoft pencils never disappoint. I missed drawing. This is the first full piece I've made since I moved in September and I'm happy that it exists

I wanted to ask you about Hitchcock 😔 If you're willing to answer, which movies of his do you think are overrated and which do you think are actually good? He's my most watched director (because film school) but I only genuinely like a few of his films and always disagreed with my classmates about which ones were the best

I feel like I'm holding up a Daffy Duck style sign that says "shoot me" because Hitchcock is so well thought of by cinephiles versus me, the basic horny mod who watches movies with hot people in them. With that said, I remember Rope, Dial M for Murder, North by Northwest, and To Catch a Thief all left me a bit flat, because I felt like he was prioritizing pushing technical limits or creating extravagant images over deeper characters and relationships. I love a good technical limit-pushing, but it needs to serve the story! And sometimes I feel like he has an idea he wants to try or an image he wants to show and puts so much focus on developing it that characters' reality and interest kind of falls by the wayside—they become pawns navigating his situations, instead of interesting characters in their own right.

To be fair, this is more a characteristic of his later work than his early work—The Lady Vanishes is one of my favorite movies, and I remember Notorious and Spellbound both being enjoyable when I watched them a few years ago. Again, basic film watcher here. Don't show this post to the Criterion collection.

(the train noise is continuous & that was a big thing at the time)#but the train noise being continuous is SMART because it adds to the rising tension and sense of containment. essential to the story!#whereas rope does a similar trick (continuous looking shot) but it doesn't tie into the story in any way.#does it matter that we never look away from the living room with the corpse? does it mean something this happens in real-ish time?#you can make an argument it does textually but emotionally i never felt like rope's 1 shot was tying into *this* specific story.#like i thought it was called rope because the literal rope emotionally ties into the metaphorical rope of a neverending shot! but no #the tension never builds for me in rope and i think it's because not enough focus was spent on its characters or making sure the shot #echoed & or developed a point being made onscreen. you could make rope w/conventional cuts and edits and i dont think you would #emotionally end up with a significantly different movie. (it doesnt help that there are obvious seams in the shot at random places.)#all in all sometimes it feels like hitch is making a movie for people who understand what trick he's showing off #versus a movie for basic bitches like me who just want to hang out with some hot strange people for two hours #anyway. i feel like i have lost all my cred in one post. oh well. sorry hitch. lady vanishes is still great

im sure someone can relate to this but somehow despite all odds a cricket got into my room last night but didnt Activate until about 1 am. i'm embarrassed to say it took me a good 5 minutes to realize what it was and that it was coming from inside my room/very close by and in the moment it scared the willies out of me due to how loud it was. i kind of just rolled awake and thought We Are Fucking Under Attack

Doing my best not to slide down my typical pipeline of my OCs becoming sexier via getting fatter and hairier as I draw them over time. Mixed success.

i feel very frustrated about the trend of giving chil body hair bc if it was any other anime twink i would be thrilled its just that it seems to only be because people are SO afraid of him looking young they have to make him hairy to justify liking him in ships.

meanwhile it does directly go against canon (he literally is supposed to look like a child. this is integral to both his character and his race's lore as a whole and it makes no damn sense that he would be mistaken for a child if he has body hair i mean. cmon.)

and it's like. some men are hairless. some men look young. when youre a trans man in your 20s-30s its especially common to be mistaken for a teenager, even more so if you're not on t. and short. these traits do not make you less of a man or an adult. :/

Finally finished sweet tooth s3. Having incredibly mixed feelings

#love the show. love it a lot. about to be a bitch in the tags anyways #it was. so so messy. they needed another season so bad. the alaska trip took up so much of the comics #and that was with the previously established cast #in the show they introduced a million new characters. gave us no time to get to know them before they were thrown head first into the plot #and condensed an arc that was almost half of the comics into the span of like 5 episodes #my boy singh. oh how they massacred by boy #i mean. okay. in the context of the show the arc wasn't horrible for him.#but i think his survival in the comic and his dedication of his life to making up for the mistakes of his past by helping people and hybrids #would've been so much more powerful than his random self sacrifice at the end of the show.#bc honestly it just seems like another impulsive act in his moral flip flop he'd been having for the last few episodes #rather than active choice to be better #and honestly i wanted to see his delusional paranoid religious breakdown from the comics put to screen so bad #it would've been great #i do like that he turned against zhang the second she started trying to talk about rani. that shit slapped #the several fake outs about Jepp's death were so stupid and unnecessary and repetitive #why are you baiting everyone. you're going to piss off the hardcore comic fans waiting for his death and confuse the show fans #either commit to killing him or stop pretending like you're brave enough to do it #why did they flip back so hard into the mystical vaguely eco fascist backstory and outcome of the comic #after spending two seasons trying to build a more scientific and less 'humanity must end' story for two seasons straight #they tried to make it seem less 'humanity must die' again at the end by ending the virus #which i guess might've been the best outcome available considering the source material and the limitations of it's ending #but idk. it felt weird #the writing this season was so much less subtle. it felt like the characters were constantly monologing directly at the camera #nothing could be left unsaid everyone had to say exactly what they meant #and it was all moral lessons the writers were trying to feed directly to the audience #i feel like they wrote themselves into a corner at the end of the last season #and they expected to have at least one more season to write themselves out of it before the ending #and if not. if this was the plan since the beginning. literally what. WHAT.#can not imagine the people who wrote the last two seasons sitting down and writing this #it won't let me add more tags but i have more thoughts. many more. tumblr is silencing me for speaking the truth /j
