Listen, I know we're all exhausted, but we gotta get better about adding image descriptions to disability related stuff. Everyone should be IDing everything anyways, but there's a particularly cruel irony in disability related stuff not being accessible to folks with low/no vision.

I guess this might be why the UK seemed to go so antisemitic so quickly
I'm researching the 1947 pogroms in the UK. (Actually, I'm researching all the pogroms and massacres of Jews in the past 200 years. Which today led me to discover that there were pogroms in the UK in 1947.)
From an article on "The Postwar Revival of British Fascism," all emphasis mine:
Given the rising antisemitism and widespread ignorance about Zionism [in the UK in 1947], fascists were easily able to conflate Zionist paramilitary attacks with Judaism in their speeches, meaning British Jews came to be seen as complicit in violence in Palestine.
Bertrand Duke Pile, a key member of Hamm’s League, informed a cheering crowd that “the Jews have no right to Palestine and the Jews have no right to the power which they hold in this country of ours.” Denouncing Zionism as a way to introduce a wider domestic antisemitic stance was common to many speakers at fascist events and rallies. Fascists hid their ideology and ideological antisemitism behind the rhetorical facade of preaching against paramilitary violence in Palestine.
One of the league’s speakers called for retribution against “the Jews” for the death of British soldiers in Palestine. This was, he told his audience, hardly an antisemitic expression. “Is it antisemitism to denounce the murderers of your own flesh and blood in Palestine?” he asked his audience. Many audience members, fascist or not, may well have felt the speaker had a point. ...[The photo of two British sergeants hanged by the Irgun in retaliation for the Brits hanging three of their members] promptly made numerous appearances at fascist meetings, often attached to the speaker’s platform. In at least one meeting, several British soldiers on leave from serving in Palestine attended Hamm’s speech, giving further legitimacy to his remarks. And with soldiers and policemen in Palestine showing increasing signs of overt antisemitism as a result of their experiences, the director of public prosecutions warned that the fascists might receive a steady stream of new recruits.
MI5, the U.K. domestic security service, noted with some alarm that “as a general rule, the crowd is now sympathetic and even spontaneously enthusiastic.” Opposition, it was noted in the same Home Office Bulletin of 1947, “is only met when there is an organized group of Jews or Communists in the audience.”
The major opposition came from the 43 Group, formed by the British-Jewish ex-paratrooper Gerry Flamberg and his friends in September 1946 to fight the fascists using the only language they felt fascists understood — violence. The group disrupted fascist meetings for two purposes: to get them shut down by the police for disorder, and to discourage attendance in the future by doling out beatings with fists and blunt instruments. By the summer of 1947, the group had around 500 active members who took part in such activities. Among these was a young hairdresser by the name of Vidal Sassoon, who would often turn up armed with his hairdressing scissors.
The 43 Group had considerable success with these actions, but public anger was spreading faster than they could counter the hate that accompanied it. The deaths of Martin and Paice had touched a nerve with the populace. On Aug. 1, 1947, the beginning of the bank holiday weekend and two days after the deaths of the sergeants, anti-Jewish rioting began in Liverpool. The violence lasted for five days. Across the country, the scene was repeated: London, Manchester, Hull, Brighton and Glasgow all saw widespread violence. Isolated instances were also recorded in Plymouth, Birmingham, Cardiff, Swansea, Newcastle and Davenport. Elsewhere, antisemitic graffiti and threatening phone calls to Jewish places of worship stood in for physical violence. Jewish-owned shops had their windows smashed, Jewish homes were targeted, an attempt was made to burn down Liverpool Crown Street Synagogue while a wooden synagogue in Glasgow was set alight. In a handful of cases, individuals were personally intimidated or assaulted. A Jewish man was threatened with a pistol in Northampton and an empty mine was placed in a Jewish-owned tailor shop in Davenport.
And an important addendum:
I've read a whole bunch of articles about the pogroms in Liverpool, Manchester, Salford, Eccles, Glasgow, etc.
Not one of them has mentioned that the Irgun, though clearly a terrorist group, was formed in response to 18 years of openly antisemitic terrorism, including multiple incredibly violent massacres. Or that it consistently acted in response to the murders of Jewish civilians, not on the offensive. Or that at this point, militant Arab Nationalist groups with volunteers and arms from the Arab League countries had been attacking Jewish and mixed Arab-Jewish neighborhoods for months.
I just think the "Jewish militants had been attacking the British occupiers" angle is incredibly Anglocentric.
Yeah, they were attacking the British occupiers. But also, that's barely the tip of the iceberg.
Everyone involved hated the Brits at this point. If only al-Husseini and his ilk had hated the Brits more than they hated the Jews, Britain could at least have united them by giving them a common enemy.

can i just say. and this is probably a niche hill to die on. that i am so gobsmacked every time someone vaguely hints at the idea that jotaro doesn't care meaningfully for the other crusaders, usually particularly kakyoin and joseph, when those two actually tend to be the ones he reacts to being hurt the hardest
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like he cares for his loved ones!!!! that literally plays into his character motives in every single part he shows up in!!! stop lying to me!!!!!!!
#me.txt#jjba#i'm going to ramble in tags actually. excuse me#ok. rereading sdc and so confused at the general perception of jotaro and his friends/family. he's not NEARLY as flat or as dickish#i understand that the anime (particularly the dub) tends to slander him but even then he still clearly cares for them! i'm confused#i also understand that a lot of people dig against jotaro and kakyoin as a dynamic because 'they're popular' and that generally disliking#popular things across media is a thing that i've seen consistently everywhere but the discredit to them simply as a DUO and not even as a#pairing is so..... odd..... like they're considered to be a duo that clicks for a reason. i enjoyed them even before i got into the fandom#every time i see someone say jotaro is overrated/dull i take a shot and assume they're an anime-only or only read the manga like once btw#joseph and jotaro also have a neat dynamic and they obviously both love and care for each other. like they're not going to go around loudly#or anything but literally the entirety of the lovers and the prelude to the dio fight IS jotaro being worked up over joseph getting hurt#equally i don't know if it translates to the anime as much but joseph is VERY complimentary when it comes to jotaro. like he sings his#praises so often and reminds everyone that he's his grandson so frequently (d'arby the gamer is a good example of this). either way it's so#peculiar....... there's not enough avdol and jotaro content btw (also in canon) because jotaro obviously looks up to him and avdol jokes#around with him on the occasion they interact after their intro which doesn't start very well. it's very cute#i do think an important thing to note about jotaro's character is how he acts AFTER his intro because he's so drastically different. early#jotaro and later jotaro aren't the same character and i do not mean this in a character development way. excluding the jail incident he's#completely different and probably shouldn't really be taken into account (especially considering the amount of slapstick in araki's intros)#and i think that's really???? what people center on for his character? Which sucks balls bad!#anyways. i could ramble more about this if asked i have so much to say but sigh. jotaro cares so much for his friends and family he's not a#flat fully cold asshole character regardless of whether you watch the anime or ova or read the manga. you just have poor media literacy#i wouldn't recommend watching solely the anime for his character though. the dub also changes a lot so it's... questionable#i love the anime and it's still important for him though. also adds neat stuff. i need to stop myself. i have many thoughts on the matter#jotaro kujo#joseph joestar#noriaki kakyoin#adding in case anyone sees: i am not saying that he is perfect about this. in fact he is very ass about it with jolyne and holly and that's#very important. he also is in fact an asshole sometimes. NOT as much as you guys are making him though!#please don't get me started on how much of a dick etc people make kakyoin to veer away from the 'woobified' characterizations of him#in fact i think that's bad if not worse because it CLAIMS to be in character. hes a prim asshole at times but not that angry or dishevelled

Ahsoka meeting Bean Rex for the very first time.
It takes a while for the clones to feel comfortable enough with the Jedi to share the existence of the Trooper Beans, but some had their suspicions that there was more to their troops than met the eye. Mostly because the Trooper Beans got up to shenanigans that left evidence of "unseen pests" on board.
When you have a living extension of yourself (that embodies both your emotions and personality) hanging about, it's not too unusual that you'd feel a little apprehensive about sharing their existence. Especially when these curious little beings are more often than not, the only remnant you may have of vode you've lost in the past.
Most Jedi don't take the initial lack of trust too hard.

hm maybe i’m going to get flack for this, but i genuinely don’t understand how some self-claimed fic lovers can be the same people who a) pressure and harass writers into producing more and more stories, regardless of their current health or personal lives, b) pressure writers when they aren’t updating fast enough, again, regardless of their current health or personal lives, and c) now, apparently, feed their supposedly beloved writers’ stories into ai bots. it’s becoming incredibly disheartening and clear that some folks don’t care so much about writers and really care exclusively about feeding whatever greedy need they have to just consume.

#feeling controversial today i guess#but like#i am at the point where i actively do not get the hype around tommy#like he’s just some guy#most of what people seem to like AND hate about him seems to be just based on headcanons not anything he's actually done in canon#he's had exactly zero development outside of moving buck's character forward since showing up again#like sure maybe there's potential but it hasn't actually been used at this point he's just kind of there#i do not understand having particularly strong opinions on him in eithet direction#like fanon opinions sure he's fun in fic#but like. the way people seem to be mapping their fanon versions of him onto canon to fit either a blind adoration or a blind hatred for hi#is super weird to me#like he’s just som guy y'all why is half the fandom falling out over this dude while the other half has gone underground??#he's just not that interesting#i will never understand how hard this fandom goes for side characters#who have had next to no development of their own#i didn't get it with lucy#i don't get it with tommy#like to each their own#but damn the power y'all give these random characters who frankly just aren't that interesting in their current states is#a lot#like enjoy have fun no judgment there#but can we maybe stop actively attacking each other over this guy he's just some dude come on y'all#*either *him *some#i really need to proofread my tags#*also i think i mean more controversy rather than hype in that third tag. it's not really that i don't understand why people like him#but more that i don't understand how he inspires such extreme opinions#anti tommy kinard#just in case#this isn't meant to be anti really i'm just like. very neutral about him#911 discourse

Grav's Favorite Play of the Night: 9.13.24 PHI v NYR, rookie game 4-3 NYR shootout win
1. Spencer Gill takes extreme offense to a Ranger in the Flyers' zone. 2. A second Ranger gets the puck; turns it over to Matvei Michkov, who 3. passes something gorgeous straight to where Emil Andrae's stick is going to be. Andrae makes Desnoyers work for it, but Desnoyers gets the puck and checks a Rag, who checks him back, and 4. he goes down. Andrae runs smack into a Ranger trying to get to the loose puck, and knocks it free to Michkov, who — honestly, I don't know what the fuck he does here, I barely know how to describe it. He ghostwalks straight through the defender and gets a shot on goal through another defenseman. Then he 5. gets the puck BACK in order to get it to Oliver Bonk, who gets off another shot on goal. By the grace of their goalie go the Rangers rookies.

It's OC Ref time!
Phemus(she/her) is a psychopomp who wanders the fields of Hades and guides lost souls home! She doesn't talk much of her past, but she's cheery, chatty, capricious, ever the connoisseur of a good yarn, and especially prone to lending a sympathetic ear and bending the bureaucratic tape of the Underworld a bit more often than she probably should (it's for a good cause she swears)(it's Funny)

personally, i much prefer suited ABJ jeremy compared to jumper ABJ jeremy, if only because of the way that he's revealed to the player in the epilogue, and how that would have differed if he was dressed as originally intended.
i think- even if if jeremy acted entirely the same as he did in the epilogue we received (which, iirc, he wasn't supposed to originally; he was going to be more mellow and sedated in his jumper arc)- he would be way too different from jeremy as we know him for a facet of that horror to sink in.
to me, what i love the most about ABJ is the uncanny valley spectrum of jeremy donaldson. for all intents and purposes, it is still jeremy donaldson, but the differences on their own are subtle enough, and the blend between them is harrowing enough for him to feel creepy and unnerving and wrong. it's pushing the envelope. its forcing you to do a double take, because on first glance, yes, that does look very much like jeremy donaldson.
yes, jeremy always wears a suit, but never in the way better jeremy wears it- every thing buttoned up, nicely pressed, mellow colors with a splash of advance-teal. jeremy always looks nice, but not the way better jeremy looks nice, prim and presentable, with well groomed hair and a clean shaven face, like a perfect doll straight from the manufacturing press. jeremy is always astute, but not the way better jeremy is astute, with purposeful movements and an unblinking gaze more reminiscent of a prey animal than a man.
what really Gets me is the fact that i'm certain that they had him in a sweater while he was in betterment. if the betterment music video is anything to (VERY LOOSELY) go by, it seems like that's kind of a standard of being a betterment resident.
Tumblr media
i doubt betterment/advance would really care what any of their other ex-residents would wear once they left the premises... but there's something very sinister about the way they dressed up jeremy. if only because
a) we already know that this is not of his own volition, since his style is several degrees separated from how we see him, and b) advance seem to have gone out of his way to either dress him like this, or encourage him to feel the need to dress like this
in my mind, this always lead me to believe that advance wanted jeremy to be a trojan horse for their ideals. in the same way disrupt made alan their spokesperson against his knowledge, rounding up everyone like him with intention to snuff them all out and design a future where they don't exist. better jeremy, the way i read it, is advance's version of alan.
as much as disrupt hated alan, they knew that if they sent anyone else out to spout homophobia and capitalist ideals, they weren't going to get the audience and approval they desperately needed. likewise, i don't think advance necessarily like the way jeremy looks externally. but no one who still has respect for the real jeremy donaldson would follow him when he looks so incredibly different. at least, if he's an imitation of his old self, there are some people who may take the bait

Regardless of all the opinions out there, while I very much care about the current ongoings I also very much feel that if you waste your vote... idk. wasting your vote doesn't do anything either imo i guess. I ain't talking about threatening to withhold your vote, I'm talking about not voting at all or using your vote for social posturing.
I don't know if I'm biased or jaded because I live in a deep red state that is actively cutting its social service programs but like. I'm very aware of how much worse it can get because what I am dealing with now, more progressive states would be looking at if a certain person won. many of these promises that are being made, a chunk of them could have and should have been done and I will always remember that. but I also recognize as a Native American in a deep red state, a state that is actively hostile right now to the multiple tribes in it, what could potentially happen to us if Trump wins.
You can't give somebody a ride in your car if your car is broke down, I find it difficult at times to be as active about other issues when my own sovereignty as a Native American, and my personal rights as someone with a uterus, are on the chopping block. I'm not going to be able to help anybody if I'm reduced to property and neither are you - you need to fight in all methods available to you.

some surprising stats about the matchup today
Tumblr media
like some stuff is certainly what i expected, but we're fairly evenly matched in other spots that i wasn't.... i knew our run defense is better than the eye test, like we aren't necessarily allowing explosive runs like we did last year. (run blocking is, as expected, atrocious lol.) the fact that we're technically better at tackling than the nfl's number 1 defense is shocking though! logan and germaine are doing A LOT of heavy lifting there, and they haven't necessarily been consistent (hence still being 20th lol). i'm also surprised we have a better rushing score, but that just speaks to those flashes where chase has been good, he's been really good!
i genuinely have no idea how this game is gonna go basically!

there's an amity POV thing i wanna write for the princess luz AU, but it's truly plotless n largely just involves her being a spectator to one event that has already happened within the AU canon. which is fine i guess, i can do whatever i want and all that
but. i must admit. that 98% of the reason that i want to write this is.... just for amity watching hunter and luz be How They Are. & having a very long moment where she's genuinely and not-unkindly like. okay. Wow. you two really truly honest to god are complete freaks. god bless, love and light, diplomatic phrasing and all that, but jesus FUCKING CHRI-
