(ooc)
hey guys! You may have noticed some slowed posting over the past couple days and I just wanted to let yall know that it's literally only bc of the heat where I live. I'm like, regularly waking up feeling like I'm suffocating so it has Not Been Fun!
I'm hoping to either get a new fan, or if I'm lucky, a new AC unit again so that I can hopefully return to my usual obsessive tag searching and being able to think in complete, logical sentences 👍 anyway sorry w the delays

Lately I've been going to bed around 4-6am and I have to wake up at 9am every day so I've only been getting 3-5 hours of sleep, but last night I went to bed at 2am so maybe I wouldn't feel like shit the next day, but I woke up at 6am and could not fall back asleep because I feel wide awake. My body hates me and doesn't want me to ever have more than five hours of sleep I guess
#i woke with the fucking sun today and i hate it#well maybe i dont hate it. its kind of nice to be an early riser for once#but this has happened before. where i go to sleep early for a change and end up waking up hours before my alarm#and then less than half an hour before my alarm ill be steuck by exhaustion and not have enough time to fix it#and i love my roommate but shes awake and doing dishes and leaving the apartment and then coming back#its 7am. she usually has the same sleep schedule as me so idk whats going on with us today#it feels like i pulled an all nighter because usually thags the only time i see the sunrise. maybe ill order some fast food breakfast today#maybe ill take my dog for an early walk if its not too cold. brb let me check the temperature#ooh its 37. thats hoodie weather. my poor dog keeps getting woken up by my whims. the othe night i accidentally woke him#because i wanted a bagel at 4am and he sleeps in the kitchen area#i would love to do this every day. go to bed earlier and wake earlier. but im not a morning person#and i usually work until 11pm. i work at a bar so its nighttime schedules for me. which i love. im a night person for sure#im not looking forward to moving back in with my parents because likely i wont find another job with this type of schedule#they live in a tiny ass town. i never understood how people move to a tiny town with no connections there. like they have no family there#except for my geandpa but he moved there after my parents. my parents moved there woth no family around#no one has heard of my hometown. it has 2000 people in it. it doesnt have great schools. its not diverse. theres no draw to it#idek how my parents heard of it#maybe ill learn to bartend there. get a job as a bartender. or maybe go to college. or become a firefighter or emt#although idk if college is right for me and i dont want to make a mistake that costs thousands of dollars#ill just take a class or two at the community college. that could be nice. but most likely ill go into a trade. my brother is a welder#and my dad is a cop. neither went to college. my dad says he could get me a job as an electrician. that would be nice#yeah probs wont go for my degree. will probs just take some classes for fun and a consistent schedule#and then become an electrician or something. sorry this turned into a weird rant#good morning everyone ily

✎. he tells you they’re the problem and leaves it at that before sliding a plate of eggs and toast in front of you.
tags. fem!reader, mild dubcon, possessive and obsessive behavior, but he's also kinda sweet?? [18+ only]
Tumblr media
You like your new roommate.
Simon’s surprisingly better to have around than the last person who lived with you—a girl you knew from college who had an affinity for stealing your clothes and conveniently never had money for rent. He’s the type to make you soup when you’re sick, acknowledge you if you’re in the same room, water your flowers while he rolls his cigarettes on the fire escape, and carry your groceries up the four flights of stairs to your floor.
He’s attractive, too, in the not-so-conventional sense, but in a disarming way, all small smiles and knowing looks and soft hair you know he doesn’t put much effort into—that sometimes curls around his ears when he lets it get too long—yet it still manages to look better than yours on the best days.
He never tells you what he does for work, and you’re too polite to ask. But you have a feeling he makes enough to afford a place on the less crime-infested side of town—somewhere nicer than your cramped apartment with its outdated appliances, leaky faucets, and the bright neon sign atop the building across the street that shines through your windows all times of the day—but he says he’s not ready to live alone.
Something tells you there’s more to it than him being a lonely bachelor, but again, you don’t pry.
“Does this place have wi-fi?” is all he’d said the first time you meet, in a voice so smooth and only slightly broken up by his accent, clad in a shirt that looked two sizes too small around his arms and clutching a duffle bag in one big hand.
Your brain was this shaken-up box of words and syllables that when you answered him, it came out in a nervous stutter. “Y-yeah, I’ll, er…I’ll give it to you—the password, I mean—once you've moved in. If that’s okay.”
He’d dropped his duffle bag in front of the room that would be his. “Consider me moved in.”
The smile he gave you, crinkling eyes and chuckling lightly, only made the stutter worse.
You let his charm roll off you; you always figured it came naturally to him, a characteristic that comes with being attractive and good.
A handful of months later—of finding a routine around each other and lazy smiles in the morning—something changes the night you go out with a guy Mary from work eagerly sets you up with.
His name’s Robb, he’s a doctor, and you both love cats; he has a house in Spain. Did I mention he's my cousin?
(A dull no way concealed behind your teeth.
If you hadn’t said yes, you feared your entire lunch break would consist of her waxing poetic over a man you're unsure about meeting.)
For a flicker of a moment, there’s an unreadable expression on Simon’s face as he watches you touch up your makeup in the hallway mirror and slip your hand into the crook of your date’s elbow at the door. There’s a slight glint of something uncharacteristically cold behind the mask of indifference before a small smile replaces it.
“Have a nice night,” you throw over your shoulder, except you don’t notice that he never says it back.
Tumblr media
You mope around the apartment when Robb—who surprisingly exceeded your expectations of mediocre dates, not that you ever plan on admitting that to Mary—doesn’t reach out to you for three days. Then a week. You’re at that age to understand when people get busy, and a nice night doesn’t always mean it’s mutually reciprocated. But you liked him, and it felt promising after he’d kissed you goodnight against your front door.
It had to have been the kiss that turned him off. Maybe he realized it was too much too soon.
When Simon finds you curled up in a ball under your comforter, one thumb gently wiping away your tears, he doesn’t even bring up your date. Instead, he orders your favorite take-out and puts on a sitcom you’d mentioned to him once—somewhat surprised that he remembers—the dreamy doctor who’d ghosted you blissfully forgotten with greasy food and a warm, comforting chest to rest your head on.
Simon’s there again—sweets in hand and a soft voice to soothe you—when another date (Rin from finance on your floor) a month later is a no-show, and a few weeks after that when Rin tells you without context that he can’t see you anymore.
The third time of let downs feels worse. It’s worse because maybe there’s something wrong with you, and when you ask Simon, he’s too nice to rub salt in your wounds. He tells you they’re the problem and leaves it at that before sliding a plate of eggs and toast in front of you.
Tumblr media
You've been Simon's roommate for a year, and he doesn't take it well when you tell him you're looking for a new place.
It’s after he comes home from a three-month work trip. The shadow that crosses over his face should’ve been your first hint that something is wrong.
Had you noticed the signs sooner, you wonder if you’d be less like prey caught by the softness of your underbelly, kept in place by the scruff, and sharp teeth at your neck.
"Beg me. Beg me not to cum in you."
"S-Simon," you whimper wetly, "don't cum in—ah—me."
His fingers hold your chin with an unyielding grip, ensuring your gaze doesn’t stray from his in the cracked mirror. You’re embarrassed by what you see, how spread open you are to his dark, inkwell eyes hungrily watching as you twitch when his other hand slides between your thighs.
"Don’t stop begging, love,” he growls, squeezing you tighter, “or I might forget."
There’s that dark look again, the one that sends a shivery feeling up your spine, possessive almost with how he traces every inch of you as if burning the image of you into his memory, the softness washed away by something more sinister.
A little voice in the back of your head tells you to flee, but another knows he'd find joy in catching you.
No one would ever think your sweet, attractive roommate would be the same man staring at you now—everything you thought you knew about him stripped away to reveal a new canvas, bare for splashes of paint to fill in the cracks—teeth marks imprinted along the curve of your jaw, on the inside of your thighs.
He hides it well. His humble personality doing the trick of being the impenetrable mask for what he’s concealing underneath: a raw obsession, an addict finally getting his hands on his favorite drug, someone who can’t recognize defeat and knows how to take.
“What do they have that I don’t? Hm? Must be a desperate little thing. My pretty slut,” Simon’s voice rumbles low against your ear, shy of unhinged. “They won’t treat you as good as I do. Don’t I treat you good?”
You whimper when his grip grows tighter, but he doesn’t seem to notice—like he’s not fully here with you. No trace of the soft, gentle man who keeps the freezer full of your favorite ice cream, who runs to the store when you run out of tampons and comes back with chocolate and a new pair of fuzzy socks. A few words have turned him into someone you don’t know. Perhaps you never did.
“Answer me.”
An indiscernible  squeak is the only sound you make.
He chuckles darkly, his head dipping down to rest his lips against the fluttering pulse in your neck, a finger slipping through the alarming amount of wetness between your thighs where his cock rends you down the middle, and begins rubbing firm, tight circles over your clit, pulling a moan from your throat.
“It’s okay, love,” he mumbles, words barely audible above your heartbeat swimming in your ears. “I’ll be everything for you. Everything you need. I’ll show you why I’m better.”

I am a little creature largely made up of anxieties. There have been times in my life when it was worse. It’s currently significantly better. This story takes place at a time when it was pretty bad.
Food was a prison for me. I moved out early with very little idea of how to feed or care for myself. Every meal was a question mark. For three years I had Brendan doing most of the cooking but when things ended between us I moved in with some other friends. I suddenly had no way to feed myself again.
I was working at the sex shop and living with all my coworkers; a premise that would make sitcom writers weep. In that house, at the age of 24, I learned how to fry an egg. It was the only thing I knew how to do but by god, I mastered egg frying. I was so proud. I could now have one stress free meal a day of an egg on toast.
The problem was my roommates. Living with three other people is already tough but messes pile up alarmingly fast, especially in the kitchen. No one sees the whole mess as their responsibility but the one person who’s responsibility it absolutely wasn’t was mine, as I only ever cooked eggs. Glaciers moved quicker than the dishes got done, mountains of greasy unwashed dish ware were fixtures across the counters.
My friends occasionally cooked for me and each time I happily cleaned all the resulting dishes. This seemed fair.
But on my own I only used three implements for my egg. When I finished with my spatula, pan, and plate, I carefully washed them and set them to dry. Every time I came back to the kitchen there was nothing clean.
Crusted on ketchup, dried food, and unsavory residues plagued everything I needed to touch. So I ended up doing all the dishes twice, once to use my three implements and again once I was done.
I started to realize I’d come home, see the filthy pile of dishes, then go to bed without eating because I didn’t have the energy to wash it all. So I finally addressed my roommates about it. Please, I beseeched them, can these three things always be clean. I cannot function like this, and eating is already hard for me.
The answer returned: no. My request was deemed unreasonable and a counteroffer was made to turn off the small space heater I ran in my room in exchange for them magnanimously cleaning up after themselves. I declined, as my bones ached with cold everywhere except my room since no one else wanted the heat on. The impasse continued. I went to be hungry.
I noodled on it. I schemed. I plotted. And on my day off I went to a thrift shop and acquired a nice little pan and spatula. I squirreled them away into my closet. The plan was just to wash and dry it after meals and keep it in my room.
This is not how it went down. On day one of my pan coming home one of my roommates popped into my room to chat, glanced into my three quarters shut closet and immediately said, “What is that?”
I sighed and admitted my plan. All three roommates roundly condemned my plan as extremely passive aggressive. I tried once again to explain that I wasn’t eating, but my secret pan was now a source of contention, a precious resource held back from the collective.
Their discontent reached a fever pitch and I finally declared, “Fine! I will put my pan in the kitchen. On one condition. If I ever find this pan dirty, ever, I will scrape whatever is left on it into your bedding. I swear to god, if I ever come home to it being dirty there will be a reckoning.”
Terms were agreed.
The first month or two went okay. On the third month I awoke to eat breakfast and found my precious pan sullied. I grabbed it and marched upstairs. Betty was named as the culprit. I strode into Betty’s room and stood over her sleeping form like the vengeful ghost of dishes past.
“If you don’t get up and clean this right now I’m going to dump it on your bed.”
Betty groggily regarded me. “Seriously?”
“I have never been more serious.”
“It’s one time, can’t you just clean it yourself?”
“No. You promised.”
With much huffing and grousing Betty arose from bed and tromped downstairs, hastily cleaning my pan while I watched. “Happy?” She demanded.
I was. I made my egg, cheerfully cleaning the pan afterward, leaving it to dry.

Can I request a Wednesday x Fem!reader where Wednesday has a general disregard for everyone and their feelings EXCEPT for her little situationship (reader) and it's just little instances where she's softer with her?
YOU | w.a
Tumblr media
pairing: Wednesday Addams x reader
A/N : I tried to satisfy your request as much as possible but Wednesday and reader don't have a situationship, they will develop... something ;)
"The most precious things in life are usually the most helpless." Penn Badgley
Wednesday Addams walked along the corridors of Nevermore Academy with a brisk yet graceful step, the sound of her shoes against the cold marble determining her hurry to get to the library. The other students stepped aside as she passed, probably intimidated by her dark and menacing gaze that seemed carved into her features.
"Addams, one word"
Wednesday reluctantly stops, turning slightly and raising an eyebrow. Yoko Tanaka strides toward her, sunglasses perched on her head revealing a pleading look. Wednesday had no intention of wasting her time with her roommate’s best friend, but seeing the vampire in such a state of despair piqued her curiosity.
"What do you want Yoko?" Wednesday asked, her tone of voice deliberately rude. But the brunette didn't care at all.
"I need your help," Yoko began, trying to keep calm, but her voice betrayed a certain frustration. "Could you help me with Thornill's homework? I can't find the damn Moon Flower anywhere."
Wednesday could hardly believe her ears: how dare she interrupt her plans for something so stupid? With her classic impassive gaze, the brunette stared at Yoko in a prolonged silence that made her feel more and more uncomfortable.
"I don't care," Wednesday finally replied with venom and disinterest, surprising the vampire. "If you can't do such a stupid task, maybe you deserve to fail," the brunette added in a cutting tone.
"but it doesn't cost you anything!" Yoko exclaimed in despair.
Wednesday's behavior annoyed her deeply, but Yoko had hoped that following Enid's advice to be kind and tolerant would at least provide some relief. Apparently she was wrong.
"I said no, Yoko," Wednesday replied, her tone even more icy. Her gaze was steady and impenetrable, and her patience, already thin, was completely exhausted.
Yoko sighed deeply, realizing that pushing further would get her nowhere. She put her sunglasses back on in a quick, controlled motion, hiding her annoyance behind a forced smile. Her grin revealed her pointed canines, a gesture that might have seemed threatening in other circumstances, but here it only served to hide her irritation.
"ok, Addams"
with one last look, Yoko walked away, keeping that forced smile until she turned the corner. Wednesday didn't follow her with her gaze, already tired of that brief and, in her eyes, pointless interaction.
As she set off again, determined to finally reach the library, she was interrupted again. This time it was her two friends Ajax and Xavier who stopped her. The two approached quickly with an air of urgency that seemed to want to drag her into some other stupid discussion.
"Wednesday, can we talk to you for a moment?" Xavier asked hesitantly.
the brunette stopped again, clearly irritated now. her gaze narrowed to a slit of annoyance as she waited for them to speak.
"I have a problem with my new work... and I think you can help me," Xavier said, trying to be persuasive.
Wednesday looked at both of them coldly, her patience crumbling with every passing second. All of Nevermore ignored her and labeled her as the school freak, psychopathic and creepy... and now, by some strange twist of fate, everyone needed her today? She simply wanted to go to the library to further her research on poisons and their uses , see you , continue writing her story, or go to the cemetery later.
“I don't care,” she replied coldly, hoping Xavier would understand that she felt some urgency in leaving.
"Addams," Ajax intervenes, "I wanted to ask you for advice... you know that I'm interested in Enid and since you're her roommate..." the gorgon continues, purposely leaving the sentence hanging.
Wednesday stared at them in silence for a few moments, her impassive gaze betraying her impatience. "I don't care in the slightest about your problems and if you don't get out of my way immediately, I won't hesitate to make you regret this conversation" the brunette threatens in a low and cold tone.
Ajax and Xavier look at each other in confusion and fear, pondering Addams's words. They both knew Wedsnesday's reputation and the very real danger of being killed by the shorter girl terrified them.
they decided to step aside.
Wednesday continued on her way, completely ignoring them, while the two boys exchanged glances of resignation. The massive wooden doors finally loomed in the distance and the swarm of students' voices faded as she entered the less frequented part of Nevermore.
"WED!" an all-too-familiar voice shouts enthusiastically.
For the third time that day, Wednesday had to stop. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to suppress the killer instinct that threatened to surface and put an end to her blonde roommate's irritating exuberance. She was seriously starting to believe that it was a curse cast by her mother, some sort of psychological torture designed to test her patience. Unfortunately, it was far from her favorite torture, and she focused on something she knew would calm her down: you.
"Wednesday," Enid exclaimed, catching up with her with a beaming smile, "I was just looking for you... The Poe Cup is coming up again and we have to defend the title! You'll be there, right? We can't do it without you!"
Wednesday stared at the blonde, impassive. Entering the Poe Cup again was the last thing she wanted to do, but she knew Enid wouldn't give up so easily.
"I'll think about it," she replied, keeping her tone detached. She didn't want to seem too involved, but she didn't want to completely dampen Enid's enthusiasm either.
"Awesome!" Enid clapped her hands, thrilled by the response. Then she walked away, skipping happily down the hallway.
Wednesday watched her go, mentally wondering how Enid managed to maintain all that vitality. With a barely audible sigh, she finally resumed her walk towards the library. The brunette lifts the corners of her lips as she enters her haven of peace, looking at the shelves covered in books and dust.
the sound of footsteps echoes throughout the library, her figure getting lost among the endless avenues of shelves and books of Nevermore. Her diligently runs her fingers through the tomes, grazing their rough and fragile covers, the wisdom that hides within them. The few students who were there were busy reading or studying among the various desks scattered around that place, the silence broken only by the sound of the pages being turned.
but it is among those shelves that she finally sees: you
she knew basically the essential things about you: your name is Y/N; you are a year older than her, you are Italian, you love blue and your power is to control fire. You were very good friends with Yoko, for some strange reason, and you were a person who despite the aura of mystery and darkness that surrounded you, smiled and was kind to everyone.
she noticed you a few days ago and still hasn't figured out who you are. Were you really that nice? what's really bothering you Y/N?
Wednesday watched you intently, savoring your every move. She noticed the way you brushed your hair back from your face, the smile that lit up your face when you read something that excited you, and even the grimaces you made in response to bizarre or banal passages you encountered.
Some might call it stalking, but she's really just trying to understand you better.
her black eyes never left your figure: you were tall, you had a sharp jaw that accentuated your strong face and you had full lips that were somehow always ready to whisper something provocative or sarcastic. at that moment you had chosen to gather your hair in a messy bun, a practical choice but one that added a touch of carefree elegance to your appearance.
you were struggling with a pile of books that seemed to have a life of its own. Some had already fallen, scattering across the floor. You quickly bent down to pick them up, but each attempt only seemed to make things worse.
Were you disorganized or did your hunger for books make you so careless?
Wednesday realized it was the perfect time to come out of hiding. She approached you cautiously, then crouched down and picked up a couple of books. Her cold fingers landed on Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities by Amy Stewart, and a thin smile threatened to appear on her lips. She was almost certain that she was the only one, aside from maybe Thornill, who had read that book in the entire school. Finding out that you shared the same literary tastes hit her in a surprisingly pleasant way.
“Here.” Wednesday’s voice was almost a whisper, as if she were intimidated by the idea of an interaction.
your eyes lift from the floor to meet hers.
Wednesday held her breath. They were the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. You looked at her with curiosity, maybe surprise, but there was something in your eyes that made her feel strangely vulnerable.
“Thank you,” you croak embarrassedly, your cheeks pink knowing someone had witnessed your disaster.
“Maybe you should stop devouring more books than you can handle,” Wednesday said venomously. Her words were a wall behind which she hid the slight agitation she was trying to ignore.
you smile. Shouldn't you be annoyed by my answer?
"What's your name?" she asks curiously
Wednesday stared at you for a moment, cold as ever. “Wednesday,” she replied dryly, not giving anything away. But when you smiled again, the brunette felt a shiver run through her mind, one she tried desperately to ignore.
“Happy reading,” Wednesday adds quickly, turning around as she notices the slight look of confusion crossing your face. It was clear that you wanted to continue the conversation, maybe tell her your name, but Wednesday couldn’t stand there beside you without feeling her body boil.
she needed to leave the library and distract her mind
would have continued after the search, with the necessary calm
but there was an unexpected relief in knowing that she now knew her name
just like she knew yours.
A/N: yes I know, very inspired by the YOU series

The spell worked, sort of, but not how I wanted. I did have the body of my dreams – I was Garrett now, but I didn’t realize the catch was that I wouldn’t be able to control what I’m doing unless I’m totally alone. And Garrett, or, me, I guess – I’m nearly never alone! The frat house pretty much always has someone in it, and I’m super popular, too. I thought being Garrett would be fun and easy, but stuck like this, it’s torture!
I figured out the ritual from this old book I found at that occult shop downtown, thinking it would be a quick way out of my boring life and into something… well, something way more interesting. Garrett had it all, or so I thought. Girls loved him, he was in the best shape, and everyone wanted to be his friend. But nobody told me about this weird restriction, or maybe I just didn’t read that part carefully enough. I guess the idea was I’d “experience” Garrett’s life, but it’s like watching a movie, except I’m the star and I can only move on my own terms when no one else is around.
And god, my roommate, he’s actually so stupid. When I can’t control my actions, we bro out all the time, but he’s so vapid. I guess I’m not much better, but it’s actually infuriating. You’d think we could have a conversation that’s not about girls, parties, sports, or video games. But no, every time he starts talking, it’s like Garrett’s body just falls right into the rhythm of it, responding automatically. I tried fighting it at first, but it’s like this autopilot takes over, and I’m just... stuck.
I’ve been scouring the room whenever I get a chance to control things, like right now, looking for any sign or clue on how to undo this. There has to be something I missed. I rummaged through his messy closet, which is packed with clothes, gym stuff, and random junk, none of it useful. The guy keeps his stuff in total chaos, and I feel weirdly exposed, like I’m actually pawing through my own things.
Shit, no, is that the door jangling? I thought I would have a couple of hours to try and figure out how to fix this. Who the hell knows when I’ll get another chan-
Fuuck, bro. Why’s my roomie home early? Thought he went to his ‘rents for the weekend. I was just about to jerk one out too. Ah well, maybe he’ll be down for some Call of Duty or something. I could use a beer.
“Yo, dude, what’s up? You back already?” I say, grinning like an idiot as I lean against the door frame, flexing a bit without even realizing it. Dude probably thinks I’m just chillin’, but nah, I’m feelin' like a boss.
He laughs, dropping his bag by the door and shrugging. “Yeah, man, got bored at home. Figured I’d head back early. Parents were driving me nuts.”
“Oh, for sure, dude,” I nod, grabbing a can of beer from the mini-fridge by my bed. “Parents, am I right? They just don’t get it, bro.” I crack it open, chugging half of it in one go, feeling the cool rush. Damn, that’s good.
He slaps my shoulder, laughing. “Dude, I swear, it’s like every time I go back, it’s the same speech about responsibility and blah blah blah. Like, whatever, right?”
“Oh, totally, man,” I laugh, shrugging it off. “Why they gotta be like that, y’know? We’re just out here living, they don’t get it.” I toss him a beer, feeling that chill vibe kickin’ in, like nothing in the world matters but just hanging with my bro. This is what it’s all about – no worries, no drama, just cold beers and good times.
“Bro, I’m feelin’ a COD sesh,” I say, grabbing the controller off the couch. “You down?”
He grins. “Hell yeah, let’s wreck some noobs.”
We crash down on the couch, controllers in hand, beers in easy reach, and it’s like all the worries in the world just melt away. I’m trash-talkin’, throwin’ down taunts, and we’re both laughing so hard my sides hurt. I don’t even remember the last time I felt this alive.
“You’re so bad, dude,” I laugh, jabbing him in the ribs as I get another kill. “How are you still this bad?”
“Shut up, bro!” he shoves me back, laughing too, and I’m grinning like an idiot.
Fuck, life is good, I think, as I take a gulp of my beer. I got my bros, I got my beer, and I got my games. What more does a dude need? Life’s good.

ʚɞ pretty boy: geto suguru !
synopsis: suguru never lets anyone touch his hair. he makes an exception for you though, his pretty little roommate.
note: i adore roommate fics SO much !! and i feel like suguru is such an intimate person #needthat (this is a republish !)
∘•···············•∘ʚ ♡ ɞ∘•················•∘
having a hot roommate is both a curse and a blessing, like what do you mean that pretty face is just sitting on a couch eating fuckass lay's from last week's party.
it was definitely trying not only your patience but actually his as well, you are completely oblivious on how gorgeous you actually are and geto makes sure you know that every single day and gets you all flustered and red.
today was movie night but you had to postpone a bit cause geto randomly wanted to shower and to make sure he smells good if you ever cuddle him. you know, like typical roommates!
geto walked towards the couch as he was drying his hair with a towel, you can't help but observe him from the kitchen. how long his pretty eyelashes are.
you catch yourself daydreaming once again and shook your head intensely to regain consciousness from whatever that was.
"you ready, sugu?" you grab the latte you made for geto as he opens his arms for you, signalling that you will cuddle him throughout the movie. "yeah, thanks for the coffee."
making yourself comfortable on the couch and under geto's arms, you noticed that he still hasn't brushed his hair from the shower.
"sugu? want me to help dry your hair?" he had an inquisitive look on his face but immediately turns into a warm smile, how could he say no?!
he turns his back at you and handed you the brush. "i could've sworn you use 5in1! how is your hair this soft?!" both of you laugh, he did use 5in1 but you raved about this shampoo a year ago and he started using it and now he cannot actually live without it.
"i'm actually appalled by your accusation! my shampoo is well over $20, you recommended it silly." he says pointing at you with a heavy hand.
"babes, i recommend you almost every single thing like toilet bowl cleaners... wait, do you buy everything i tell you to?" you forcibly face geto, not realising the proximity between the two of you.
"well... i trust you, so. yeah." your patience is actually getting challenged by this beautiful giant man in your lap, the only thing you could really do is rest your face on his shoulders and give it a bite.
that is NOT casual or roommate behaviour at all. i mean everything else is not usual roommate behaviour but you do realise that geto does smell of fucking L'occitane Almond Shower Oil cause you told him how much you loved it and he should try it too.
how he drinks less coffee and more matcha cause you don't make coffee as often so even when he buys drinks outside it's a matcha latte. how he started cooking a lot more cause you did so. things that you managed to change about him even though it's so minuscule, you'd have to really think about it.
"you're adorable." you whisper in his ear earning a small chuckle from him. "play with my hair?" he gives you a quick peck on your forehead and immediately started styling his hair like how you would a princess.
"suguru, you're so pretty it actually hurts."
"i'd like to think so yeah." you rush to the bathroom to get a handheld mirror and shove it in his face. he deserves to know how pretty he is! "wow, that's an elaborate hairstyle. you a hairstylist or what?"
"no, i'm the oldest sister of five. all girls. you can figure that all out."
"bahaha, yes. thank you baby. let me do yours, yeah?" baby. that's actually insane, you felt your brain short circuited 'cause... well, just don't make a big deal of it!
"uh, ah yeah of course." it was your turn then to turn your back on him but swiftly pulls you closer to him and wrapping his legs around your body. "you're so warm." geto had slightly cold hands so you took it to yourself to warm it up in your hands.
"much better. best. roommate. ever." he says in between giving your cheeks a peck. "you're awfully touchy today, you good?" not like you were against it but.
"i rarely see you without makeup, you're gorgeous." yeah no, that's it. you're turning insane.

Oral Festivities - John "Soap" MacTavish x Female Reader
Content & Warnings: roommate au, flirting, gift giving, swearing, friends to lovers, oral sex (female receiving), unprotected piv, dirty talk
Word Count: 1.7k
A/N: For Kinkmas 2024 (Face Sitting)
Stuck at home on Christmas Eve, your roommate, Johnny, surprises you with a gift he’s been wanting to give you.
ao3 // main masterlist // kinkmas 2024 masterlist
“All alone this year? Thought you were visiting family?”
You turn your attention away from the television and glance at your roommate, Johnny. It takes everything in you to keep your jaw in place.
There is no reason for a man to be this attractive. Johnny is freshly showered, his skin still speckled with a few spare drops of water. His dark hair is damp, the usual mohawk he sports combed to the side. The woodsy scent of his aftershave drifts around you, filling your lungs, and enveloping you in a tight hug.
Johnny grins, tipping his head to the side to rub his ear with the corner of the towel. "Did you hear me, love?"
Hells, why does he have to go and address you like that?
Every part of you tingles from the crown of your head to the space between your thighs. Your gaze roams downward, fueling the thought of licking up those droplets of water right off his pectorals.
"Plans were cancelled." Your voice cracks slightly and you cough to clear it. "Not going anywhere."
Johnny's face falls slightly. "Sorry to hear that." His handsome smile returns quickly. "Looks like it's just us."
Oh my God.
"Looks like it," you reply, heart thundering in your chest.
The snow outside is large and fluffy, blanketing everything it touches. There is little movement except for an occasional car braving the cold. It's unlikely that either of you are leaving this apartment anytime soon.
Johnny rubs at his other ear and plops down on the couch beside you, extending one arm across the back of the sofa. Other than the towel he’s holding, he's in plain black gym shorts. Every muscle is on display, and it has to be deliberate.
Johnny settles, the towel draped over one leg. "Is that friend of yours coming over?" he asks slowly.
You frown. "Which friend?"
Johnny side-eyes you. "The guy."
"Oh." You lick your lips. "No."
That guy. The casual hook-up. The guy that didn't "want to put a label" on the relationship. Really, he means nothing. The orgasms aren't even worth all the messages left on read.
Johnny grunts. "Did he get you anything?"
You laugh but it feels hollow. "I wouldn't exactly call us friends."
"Good."
"Good?"
"We're friends, no?" Johnny leans in, and you suddenly realize just how large and broad he is.
"Roommates," you reply softly.
"But friends?"
"Yes," you breathe.
Maybe more if you're open.
Johnny's grin is wide but not malicious. It's almost...flirty? No. That can't be. Sure, he moved in just six months ago, but that hardly accounts for anything. He's a responsible adult, and respectful of your space, but interested in you?
You think back, trying to rummage through every interaction. Old memories resurface, and you suddenly begin questioning every word and gesture. All those times he placed his hand on your lower back, of the pet names you originally dismissed as nothing, to the tight hugs when your jerk of situationship left you hanging.
How many times do you think about Johnny in a given day? About him being a possibility?
If you’re truly being honest, it’s far too many to count.
But that’s entirely one-sided. You don’t know his mind.
"I got you something," he says, voice a bit husky.
Johnny's timbre does something to you. Without thought, you scoot a fraction closer to him on the couch. Johnny matches the movement, his head dipping slightly. It's far too intimate.
"A present?" you ask, adding a bit of tease to your tone, your thighs rubbing against each other as your pussy clenches.
Johnny's cheeks darken slightly, a bit of pink kissing his skin. You're completely done for. There's nothing you won't give him.
Johnny cradles the side of your neck, thumb resting just shy of your lower lip. "One I've wanted to give for a while, love. If you want it."
If you want it.
"I'll take it."
Johnny's reply is a pleased sound that comes deep in his throat. Closing the distance, he presses his lips to yours. It's soft. Sweet. Not dominating or possessive, but a promise. If you let him in, if you keep going, maybe this might work out.
"Another?" he asks against your lips.
"Yes,” you sigh, wanting to breathe him in.
This time when Johnny kisses you, it isn't sweet. Each kiss is possessive, a needy thing that sends your insides twisting. His hand shifts position, moving to the back of your neck, grasping tightly. Reaching out, you place one hand against his firm chest, the hair there scratching your skin.
Fuck it. You need to assert some desire, to show Johnny that you'd enjoy more than just kisses.
Pushing on him, you shove Johnny back against the sofa, straddling his legs to settle in his lap. His smile is knowing—cocky. And then the two of you are right back to, all moving hands and desperate mouths.
Johnny lightly bites your bottom lip, sucking it into his mouth, pulling a little moan from you. The tip of his tongue briefly brushes against it, and then he's teasing, wanting entrance. His hands roam, dragging and digging at your clothes.
One of Johnny's hands returns to the back of your neck, the tips of his fingers holding tight, dragging you away from his mouth.
"I've been wanting to do that for months."
"Months?" you ask, a little dazed.
"Months," he growls, leaning in to run his lips over your neck. He breathes you in, savoring your scent. "And that wasn't the gift."
"It's not?" Your question is more a gasp of air.
"No." Johnny lifts his head.
"What is it?"
Johnny presses his lips to your ear as his fingers slip beneath the waistband of your pajama bottoms. "To taste you."
He guides them past your hips and over your ass before pausing at your thighs. Just another pull and they'll be halfway to your knees.
"Johnny," you gasp, fingers digging into his shoulders.
"Can I taste you, love?” Johnny’s lips brush against your cheek. “Will you spread those pretty thighs for me?" With a slight twist of his wrist, Johnny’s hand delves between your legs, the tips of his fingers brushing over your exposed clit. “Want to put my mouth here.”
His other arm hooks around your back. With a quick adjustment, Johnny goes onto his back with you straddling his lap.
“Right here, love.” Johnny gestures at his face. “Come sit on it.”
"But—but I'll—"
"You'll what? Crush me? Suffocate me?" He chuckles. "Promise you won't, love." Johnny leans back, head resting against the pillow. Lifting his hands, he gestures for you to get closer. "Come here to me."
As you go up onto your knees, Johnny helps you out of your pajama bottoms, leaving your lower-half completely bare. Just as you start to settle back into his lap, Johnny promptly grasps your thighs squeezing.
“Face. Now.”
With a strength that surprises you, Johnny drags you up the rest of his body, settling you down on his face without ceremony. Your hands go out to steady yourself. One lands on the arm of the sofa while the other finds Johnny’s firm chest.
His breath is hot against your sex, making you gasp at the contact. With a groan, Johnny's tongue teases your opening, not sliding in but just dancing around it. The tip of his nose presses against your clit. Each tiny movement causes it to rub against your clit, sending little bolts of pleasure up your spine.
“Oh—fuck. Johnny,” you groan, head falling back as his tongue marks a languid circle up and around your pussy.
His large hands are on your hips, keeping you in place. Each pass of his tongue is a delicious tease, but it’s not nearly enough. You need to feel him everywhere, to have him inside you, even if it’s just his tongue.
Another groan from Johnny, and this time, is vibrates against your sex. It’s followed by a gentle roll of his tongue. Your hand on his chest slips, sliding to his stomach. Johnny’s fingers flex and hold tight, bringing you closer until you swear you’ll suffocate him.
But it doesn’t seem to bother Johnny at all. His tongue delves inside, gently stroking as the tip of his nose continues to rub against your clit. It stirs the growing pleasure, pushing it to new heights. Your hips jerk, but Johnny holds form fucking your pussy with his tongue.
Johnny’s hands begin to move. One curves to the top of your hip, pressing down to keep you in place. The other ascends, slipping underneath your top to slide between your breasts. His heat is a brand. The sensation of his tongue inside you with the stimulation to your clit is quickly driving you toward the edge.
A guttural moan leaves your lips. You tip back further, hand sliding until you meet gym shorts, and a hardness that cannot be denied. You want to fuck this man, to rip off his shorts, and ride him until he’s shooting blanks.
Another dip of his tongue inside you. Another grinding against clit.
The orgasm bursts outward, pussy squeezing around Johnny’s tongue. He does not stop. Not until your thighs quiver and squeeze against the sides of his head.
Johnny’s hand disappears from your chest, and then he’s helping you off his face, bringing you to his stomach. The lust-drenched haze still clouds your vision. You’re not entirely aware of your surroundings until Johnny shifts up on his elbows.
You go for him just as he goes for you. He tastes of you, and that only spurs you on, to seek entrance with your tongue. Johnny obliges with a smile, even as he continues to come to a more seated position.
You’re both reaching for his shorts, shoving them down enough until you feel his hardness bounce against the curve of your ass.
“Get on my dick,” growls Johnny, as you shift backward, lightly nipping at your left nipple.
The head of his cock drags against your ass before coming to rest against your sex. It starts to press in. Johnny’s tongue brushes over the nipple he just teased with his teeth. Sliding down on him is both agony and bliss.
With a smirk, you pop your hips up before coming back down on him. Johnny’s eyelids flutter briefly in pleasure.
“And this is my gift to you, Johnny.”

multi bot release — 25 bots for 2025
Tumblr media
thank you for 777 (this originally said 700+ so you can see the growth i've had even while plotting this release) followers on c.ai!! and thank you all for the continued support!! it truly means so, so much to me, and i'm very excited to finally be releasing more bots, and i hope you enjoy!
everyone cheer because i actually did 10+ of my requests
this has been in the making for a little over a couple weeks now, and it’s upped to 25 thanks to @w4dows and her genius idea of doing 25 bots for the upcoming year! it was a lot but i loved doing it with you <3
they're listed in alphabetical order (like always) and categorized by the movie/show that they’re from.
includes: challengers, glee, grey's anatomy, misc. (bridgerton, moana 2, twilight, wicked)
p.s. to all my gleeks, i see you and this is glee heavy for that very reason <33
p.p.s to everyone— there may be a bit of scrolling, but please get to the bottom so you don't miss a bot you may like! :)
Tumblr media
CHALLENGERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ART DONALDSON —  PREGNANT (REQ.)
Getting engaged to Art is a fairly recent milestone for the two of you, but what will happen when he finds your positive pregnancy test in the garbage and he confronts you about it?
ART DONALDSON — STEAM ROOM
Art always loves spending time in the steam room after a long week of practice. He didn’t expect to encounter you there, but he’s not complaining. Will your old flame be rekindled when there’s nothing separating you except for a couple of towels?
ART DONALDSON & TASHI DUNCAN — MEETING THE EX (REQ.)
You and Art started dating shortly after his divorce with Tashi was finalized. How will you finally meeting her go? Will you still be with him afterward, or will she pawn you off of him?
PATRICK ZWEIG — MOM OVER ME
Patrick is your husband, but what does that mean to you? After all, he isn’t even your emergency contact, even though you're his. Your mom is still yours, regardless of the fact that you've been married for a few years now. (inspired by @fruitjoos fic ‘‘emergency contact’’)
TASHI DUNCAN — FAN CLUB
Tashi was surprised to find out that you didn’t know much about her, or tennis in general, for that matter. It was even more surprising (and annoying) when she showed up on move-in day to see that you were going to be her roommate this year.
TASHI DUNCAN — FIELD OF LILIES
Your anniversary is coming up shortly after your daughter's fourth birthday. To celebrate, you decided to surprise the two of them with a field of lilies— the same one where you proposed to Tashi six years ago.
TASHI DUNCAN — MALL SANTA (🌲)
This is Lily’s first Christmas, and Tashi is making sure to pull out all the stops, including taking her to the mall to get pictures with Santa. Sure, the one year old may not remember this, but you and Tashi will, and she wants it to be special, just like it was when she was growing up.
Tumblr media
GLEE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MARLEY ROSE - AWOKEN (REQ.)
Marley didn't know that her feelings for you surpassed friendship until she realized that her feelings for Jake and Ryder were nothing close to romantic. She doesn't know why she never realized it before, but she won't give up her chance now.
MARLEY ROSE — MEAN GIRL (REQ.)
Marley is the sweetest girl alive, yet you’re still mean to her. She can’t figure out why you’re so cold and callous when she hasn’t done anything wrong. It's now up to you to fix the mess that you unintentionally made.
MARLEY ROSE — SECRETLY SOFT (REQ.)
You’ve got a reputation of being some kind of punk. Essentially, you’re the female equivalent to Puck, except you’re not a homewrecker like he is. No one knows that the only person you’re all sweet and nice with is Marley, and she’s the only one who knows you’re even like that at all.
QUINN FABRAY — BIG CHANGES (REQ.)
Quinn's image has changed since having Beth and giving her up for adoption. Has it been for the better? The verdict is not yet decided, but you've been by her side for a while now, and you don't plan on leaving just because she's changed her look. She's still the same Quinn Fabray you know and love.
QUINN FABRAY — BORN THIS WAY… OR NOT (REQ.)
Quinn was confronted by Lauren about her past, and she knew she couldn’t let you hear about it from anyone else. Word would spread quickly, and she didn’t want you to know her truth from the rumor mill.
QUINN FABRAY — BUNNY!
You're originally a farm girl, even though Quinn couldn't believe it. Your city life doesn't do much to prove your roots, so you decided to take her back home to the family farm, where she quickly makes a new furry friend.
SANTANA LOPEZ — HIDDEN MOMENTS (REQ.)
You and Santana have been together for a few months now, and even though no one knows, you two couldn't be happier. Sometimes, all it takes to make your day better is just being with her in bed. You don't even have to be doing anything except lying there.
SANTANA LOPEZ — NURSE’S ORDERS (inspired by @mportality)
You've fallen sick and your girlfriend wants to help nurse you back to health, despite your pleas for her to keep away from you so she doesn't get sick herself. Besides, it's an excuse to wear that hot nurse costume you love so much.
SANTANA LOPEZ — ROOMMATES AND EXES (REQ.)
Santana showing up at your New York apartment unexpectedly was... rather surprising. Maybe not so much if she was a friend, but the fact that she's your ex-girlfriend makes it a little more unusual. She's been moved in for a few months, and you can't help but constantly think about your past relationship. Now, you're sitting in the living room with her on the opposite end of the couch, silence engulfing the space.
Tumblr media
GREY’S ANATOMY
Tumblr media
ADDISON MONTGOMERY — BUT YOU CHEATED
Addison won’t stop trying to get you back, even if she’s in the wrong. She knows she messed up by cheating on you, so why can’t you just accept her apology? Or better yet, why doesn't she accept the fact that you can't forgive her so easily?
DEREK SHEPHERD — GINGERBREAD HOUSES (REQ. /🌲)
Making and decorating gingerbread houses with you and your kids is a dream come true for Derek. He couldn't ask for a more domestic scene, and he doesn't think anything will top this.
DEREK SHEPHERD — I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS (🌲)
So maybe it was a bad idea to not keep forcing Derek to change out of the Santa Claus suit he wore in order to put the gifts under the tree in case Zola or Bailey saw him. Their screams were unexpected and frightening before you realized why exactly they had screamed.
DEREK SHEPHERD — WALKING AWAY
Derek didn’t want to compete anymore; if Finn was the one who had your heart, then he’d accept that and let it be. You couldn't believe it, though. The Derek Shepherd accepting (choosing, even) defeat? What is wrong with him?
JO WILSON — DODGING (REQ.)
You and Jo clearly have feelings for each other, but you both keep avoiding addressing them. It's obvious to everyone except for the two of you, and Arizona is tired of seeing you fail to work up the courage to talk to Jo, so she sticks you in a room together and locks you in.
Tumblr media
MISC.
Tumblr media
ALICE CULLEN - DIFFERENT WORLDS (REQ.)
Alice is a vampire, and you're a werewolf. You're not supposed to interact with each other, let alone date. But neither of you can help yourselves; the mutual attraction is too strong to ignore, meaning you couldn’t care less what your brother might think.
FIYERO TIGELAAR — SET FREE
Fiyero is the only one not affected by the flowers in class, and even though you thought he didn’t want to help you, he tagged along anyway. The tension is thick between the two of you, so how will you both approach it?
MATANGI — CRAZY BAT LADY  (REQ.) @lotties-ashwagandha i’m sorry it took forever!
Matangi thought you’d leave her behind and forget about her after breaking the curse on Motufetū, but you proved her wrong. She feels a sense of obligation to pay you back, but how is she going to do such a thing?
SIMON BASSET — WEDDING NIGHT
Unbeknownst to the both of you, the tension is thick. Simon thinks that you’re in this marriage against your will, while you think the same regarding him. Neither of you have realized that for so long, you have burned for one another. After such an admittance, what more is there to do than consummate the marriage? It helps that he gave you such valuable advice earlier on...

Weekly Jungkook Fanfic Recs
Tumblr media
Some fine JK fics for your reading pleasure. 🔞 Please show your appreciation to all the wonderful authors :)
The Forgotten Spaces: You've been dancing on the same dance crew since your teenage years, and you finally have an important role in it. It feels like life is taunting you when your rival comes back after disappearing for a year, ready to tease you every chance he gets. Will the teasing turn into more, or are you going to take him down with you? https://www.tumblr.com/oddinary4bts/714163315613614081/the-forgotten-spaces-masterpost-jjk?source=share When The End Comes: Seven years after you've started dating Jungkook, long distance creates a wedge in your relationship. When the only solution seems to be breaking up, you go your separate ways even though love still lives in the two of you. Will you find a way back together, or has the end come for you and Jeon Jungkook? https://www.tumblr.com/oddinary4bts/727637458044469248/when-the-end-comes-masterpost-jjk?source=share&ref=oddinary4bts
The Boy With Galaxies In His Eyes: You had never thought the night sky could be found in someone’s eyes. That is, until you met Jeon Jungkook and his gravity pulled you in. Sinful Lust: In an attempt to spice up your bedroom life with your boyfriend Min Yoongi, you suggest bringing another man into the action. Yoongi seems reluctant at first, but when you mention his friend Jeon Jungkook, he can’t deny his attraction. All that’s left to do is to convince Jungkook into participating... https://www.tumblr.com/oddinary4bts/724853153529495552/sinful-lust-masterpost-myg-jjk?source=share
Oh My God, They Where (Quarantined) Roommates: What do you do when you're quarantined for months on end with Jeon Jungkook - S-tier cuddler, workout robot and thirst trap extraordinaire? Fuck him, you guess. https://ot7always.tumblr.com/post/624575056240050176/oh-my-god-they-were-quarantined-roommates
Once Bitten, Twice Shy: You meet Taehyung college and he convinces you to move to his hometown with him. The town is nice, Taehyung’s friend are great, and you get along with everyone except Jungkook. You can’t seem to figure out what you’ve done to make him not like you, and why did you care so much? Also, why did none of them ever get cold? https://www.tumblr.com/pbandjk/184635794224/once-bitten-twice-shy Alpha Jeon: You’ve been raised to be a Luna since you were born. You’ve always had an idea of how your future would be, there was little room to imagine anything different. You’d meet your mate and fall madly in love, and the two of you would take over for your parents once they got older. But what happens when a certain wolf comes in and throws all of your plans on their head? https://www.tumblr.com/pbandjk/636812449904017408/alpha-jeon-masterlist
Bite Me, Jeon: Somehow you convince Jeon Jungkook to look into theories of vampirism for a research paper. What Jungkook doesn’t expect, is for vampirism to become a very real and very personal problem for him. https://sailoryooons.tumblr.com/post/683613241221464064/bite-me-jeon
Habits Of A Clandestine Nature: College au. https://www.wattpad.com/story/365219172-habits-of-a-clandestine-nature-%E2%80%A2-jjk
Silver Chains: Jungkook is inquisitive, he likes asking questions. He also likes fucking. These are both great qualities - when done separately of course. After the Muster, he asks you numerous questions, but whether they were out of genuine interest or purely to tease, the answer escapes you (as always). https://satnin-darling.tumblr.com/post/654462205050355712/ silver-chains-m-one-shot-jeon-jungkook

”you gave me a home. a sense of familiarity in a new city. a support system for whenever I couldn’t deal with myself. you think I wouldn’t do everything I possibly could, for you?”
he kisses your cheek/forehead every time he enters a room and bypasses r like “???” until it’s common
literally nothing changes after you get together except your ‘outings’ are now dates.

Scarlet dusk spills over the pine planks of the deck like rising water. Sweet little Madeleine Astor invites you to attend dinner with her party—perhaps there is gossip that you and Daemon have had some sort of a row—but you have other plans. As the rest of the first-class passengers descend the Grand Staircase to the dining room on D-Deck, you make your way eastward towards the stern. You pass shipbuilder Thomas Andrews, who is ambling along with a group of chuckling, pipe-puffing gentlemen including J. Bruce Ismay and Benjamin Guggenheim. Mr. Andrews is mentioning the iceberg warnings that the captain has received from nearby vessels today; the other men are agreeing that Captain Smith is right to not be concerned. On a night as calm and cloudless as this one, surely an iceberg would be spotted by the lookouts with more than enough time to steer the ship to safety.
Aegon is waiting by the steel railing of the stern, stolen black coat, face glowing in fading daylight the color of sunstone, a crystal mined in Oregon. His scuffed brown leather portfolio and a folded easel are tucked under one arm; in his fist is clutched the handle of a small wooden box, which must contain his painting supplies.
“So,” he says, smiling when he sees you’ve accepted his offer, this final kindness before you are torn away from each other when Titanic docks in New York Harbor. “Where should we set up our studio? It can’t be in my cabin. One of my roommates is currently fornicating with a Russian girl. She seems nice. I hope she isn’t burdened with his bastard child.”
“You don’t think we should join them?”
He laughs. “Maybe I’m not ready to share you.”
“You’re not living up to your reputation, prodigal son. I had heard you were an irredeemable miscreant.” Then you turn to leave, and Aegon follows you.
You stop first at the Café Parisien on B-Deck, which is mostly deserted; it’s very cold outside, approaching freezing temperatures as the sun sinks below the bloodied horizon, and the heaters don’t work especially well in the restaurant. You purchase several different sandwiches and a chocolate croissant. No cash exchanges hands, which is good because you don’t ever have any; the stewards there recognize you and will add the charge to your illustrious husband’s bill, to be paid before passengers disembark on either April 16th or 17th, depending on how quickly Titanic arrives at her destination.
Daemon and Rhaenyra will be in the First-Class Dining Saloon for the next several hours, and thereafter will almost certainly steal away into her rooms to commit their incestuous adultery. Rush is eternally prowling nearby in case Daemon finds himself in need of anything: a drink, a gun, a troublesome wife shoved over a railing. Per her nightly tradition, Dagmar has taken Draco to the Verandah Café, which in addition to being a more casual eatery has become a sort of playroom for first-class children. And so in your staterooms, only Fern is present, finishing up some dusting before she journeys down to C-Deck to enjoy dinner in the Maids and Valets Saloon. From above the fireplace, the taxidermied tiger head watches you with eerily still gemstone eyes, a dispassionate witness to your treason.
“Hello, ma’am,” Fern says when you enter. “Can I make you a cup of tea before I go?” Then she sees Aegon walk in behind you with all his equipment, and she blinks, bewildered. “Good evening, sir. Did we meet on the Boat Deck this morning…?”
“We did,” Aegon replies a bit sheepishly. Fern looks at you, seeking an explanation.
“I need a favor,” you tell her.
“Of course, ma’am. Anything.” But Fern’s large dark eyes shift skittishly between you and Aegon.
You give her the paper bag heavy with treats from Café Parisien. “I’ve brought you dinner. I wasn’t sure what kind of sandwich you’d prefer, so there’s ham and Gruyère, tomato and chèvre, and pâté and cornichon. Eat whichever you like, or all three, it doesn’t matter. Oh, and there’s a chocolate croissant as well, nice and flakey and shining with butter. It’s absolutely massive.”
“That’s very kind, ma’am,” Fern says. She’s touched, but she’s still puzzled.
“Fern, I’m asking you to stay here in the sitting room. It doesn’t matter what you do, but don’t fall asleep, and for God’s sake don’t leave to go outside, not even for a moment.”
“Alright,” she agrees cautiously.
“I don’t think they’ll be back for a few hours, but if somebody does walk through that door—Daemon, Dagmar, anyone—all I need you to do is offer to make them tea, as you would on any other night. And offer loudly.” This will alert you to the intruder and give you more than enough time to get Aegon out onto the private deck, from which he can access the hallways of B-Deck and the Grand Staircase.
Fern understands. She nods, studying Aegon thoughtfully. “Yes ma’am.”
“And I didn’t have any visitors.” Your voice is grave; it is not only your reputation at risk. It’s your life.
Fern feigns shock. “Of course not. I haven’t seen a soul.”
You touch a palm to her shoulder, fleeting and gentle. “Thank you, Fern.”
“It’s no trouble at all, ma’am,” she says, and then goes to the small circular table and begins to unwrap one of the sandwiches from Café Parisien.
As soon as you and Aegon are inside your bedroom, you push Daemon’s writing desk in front of the door, precious extra seconds bought in the unlikely event that your husband returns and Fern can’t slow him down. Aegon immediately begins setting up: placing his easel, clipping a piece of fresh linen-like parchment from his portfolio to it, and removing a palette, brushes, and tiny tin tubes of oil paint from his wooden box. He turns off all of the lamps except one, then glances at the unlit white candles on the dresser and the nightstand. Before he can say anything, you take his aluminum lighter from your handbag and light the wicks.
“Can I do anything else to help?” you ask.
“Yeah.” Aegon nods to your spacious walk-in closet, where the door is hanging ajar. It’s nearly as large as his entire third-class cabin. He shrugs off his black wool coat; beneath it he is wearing only a white button-up shirt and dark green corduroy trousers. “Get dressed. Put on something you feel like you look especially good in.”
You gaze blankly at the closet, then turn back to him. “I don’t think I look good in anything.”
“Well now I’m going to make you watch.” He smirks at you, mischievous, teasing, then drops to his knees to squirt beads of paint onto his stained palette: golden like the lamplight, a rich dark brown like the walnut wood of the bedposts.
“How would you possibly accomplish that?”
“You have a mirror.” He points to it with a paintbrush, the oval-shaped pool of silver standing upright by the bed.
You gape at it, mortified. “No, I couldn’t possibly stare at myself the whole time.”
“Sure you could.” Aegon goes to the mirror and adjusts it until it is filled with your reflection. “Not too bad, right?”
“I suppose,” you murmur, but you have already fled to the closet. As Aegon swirls colors together on his palette, searching for the perfect shades, you sift through your collection of jewel-toned fabrics: lace, cotton, velvet, wool. You think again of the dusk light that turned the decks and waves to rubies, and your eyes catch on a red silk robe: purchased only a month ago, never worn yet, no memories of Daemon or anybody else, a new age like sunset or dawn. You take off your green gown and remove the emeralds from your ears, then don the crimson-colored robe and return to the bedroom to meet Aegon, silk flowing behind you like a riptide, the rustling of your legs beneath the fabric.
Aegon is scrabbling around by the foot of the bed, smoothing out any bumps in the Turkish rug, straightening the white ruffled bed skirt that hangs down to the floor. He peers up at you and freezes, his fretful fingers going still.
You ask tentavively: “Is this okay?”
He chuckles. “Okay is one word for it. Come over here.”
You go to Aegon and he takes your hands, both of them, and draws you down onto the floor where he is. You sit with your legs bent and tucked to the right, as if you’re a mermaid, your tail the color of blood instead of cool rippling depths. Aegon arranges the hem of your robe—he wants your bare feet showing, the silk rumpled in some spots and smooth in others—then retreats and stands back to study you, chewing the corner of his full bottom lip, his hands on his waist.
“Can I take your hair down?”
“Sure,” you say, but when he touches you—even a graze, even a whisper—you have to stop yourself from startling a bit, from reaching out to grab his wrist and keep him close.
“I can paint from memory,” Aegon tells you as he works, perhaps filling the quiet to soothe your nerves. “But it always turns out better if I have the person in front of me.”
“I’ll try to stay still.”
“You can move around if you have to,” he assures you. “I’d rather have you comfortable. I know you’re not a statue.”
“Right.” You smile. “I’m a rock.”
Aegon laughs and places your left hand on the bedpost as if you are clinging to it. “The best rock. Now let’s see you glimmer.” He goes to the mirror and repositions it one final time, angling it downwards slightly so you are in the center of the glass oval. From behind you on the dresser, flickering dots of candlelight glow like stars. You instinctively avert your eyes from your reflection, but Aegon is insistent. Gingerly, he turns your head back towards the mirror before striding over to his easel.
You do not want to watch yourself, so you watch Aegon instead, his doppelganger reversed in the glass. He’s mixing paint on his palette, repeatedly glancing at your robe to make sure he’s made the correct shade of red. He’s absentmindedly tucking a lock of his hair behind his ear. And you cannot stop staring at his hands: the way he holds a paintbrush, the bumps of his knuckles. He is not a man who has ever pillaged or bruised but only created pinpoints of light that gleam through the darkness, music and art and laughter, the gems of human existence. He is far from home, just like you are. His bones are the bars of a prison; you have married into the same one, created new life with it, melded your bloodlines together like forged metal.
Now Aegon is back, his reflection kneeling behind yours, and he begins to reach for your waist before he stops himself. “Is it alright if I…?”
“Of course. However you want me.”
The Aegon that lives in the silver sheen of the mirror settles his hands lightly just below your ribcage. He turns you just barely towards the mirror, only an inch away from where you were before, but he is precise, he is careful. This is the last image he’ll ever capture of you.
The warmth of him against you, his weight, his wonder as he gazes at your reflection with eyes like deep water; your breath catches, and at first he fears he has crossed a line and removes his hands. But your fingers are—slowly, like a suggestion that someone could so easily pretend not to have noticed—pulling up the hem of your silk robe, to just above your ankles, to your calves, to your bent knees. Aegon’s right hand covers yours, and then—as your eyes lock in the mirror—skates up the inside of your thighs as you part them, displacing the vivid red of your robe, revealing yourself in the glass, and so you can see it as he touches you, not like he owns or commands or uses you but like he is here to chisel you free from the perpetual darkness of the mine you’ve been trapped in for millennia.
You gasp in desperate, disbelieving relief, shaking all over, and you move to kiss him; but Aegon catches your face in his other hand and turns you back to the mirror. “No,” he whispers. “Watch.” And then he presses his lips to the apple of your cheek and lingers there for a moment, tasting you, breathing you in like you’re water filling the lungs of a drowning man.
“Aegon…”
“I want you to see how beautiful you are. I want you to see what I’ve been dying to do to you.”
His right hand is still between your legs, his fingers circling, a whirlpool that drags you down like an anchor until you hit the seafloor, an ocean not of pressure and cold but bright, yearning warmth, golden lamplight and flickering candles. You reach back to touch Aegon’s face—the stubble of his short beard, the sand-colored strands of his hair—but still he keeps your gaze fixed on your reflection. Now you are unashamed in a way you haven’t been since before your wedding night five years ago, just about the same time Aegon was leaving home. The proof is indelible, inking itself into your memory like a painter’s signature: you are desired, you are loved.
“Thank you,” you moan, so low it’s almost inaudible. You’re close. You’re very, very close. “Oh my God, Aegon, thank you…”
“Shh.” He kisses the side of your face, his eyes on the mirror, transfixed. “Show me.”
It’s a beam of sunlight refracted and scattered by a ruby; it’s a scalding torrent of blood that crashes through a web of arteries all the way to the heart. And when—still shuddering, still fighting for air—you pull away from Aegon’s grasp, he lets you go without any resistance.
You roll onto the floor and drag him on top of you by his shirt, struggling with trembling fingers to untangle the tie of your robe until Aegon realizes what you’re trying to do and helps you. He opens the blood-red silk and tastes the salt blooming on your belly, your breasts, your throat where your pulse is thudding drunk and maroon in your carotid. It’s better than cider or champagne or beer or nicotine; he is not a poison but a cure. He is unbuttoning his shirt and his trousers, hurried famished need. He is inside of you, and he is kissing you deeply, your palms on his flushed face, your hips moving with his. You steal a glimpse of the silver-moonlight mirror, and there you both are: lost and far from home, shipwrecked on the same island, castaways and wave crests and mirages. In the end, you know you have not disappointed him. His lungs are breathless and his eyes wet, his muscles just as spent and useless as yours. Neither of you are lost anymore. You have found each other here in the gloomy depths.
Almost immediately, Aegon forces himself off of you and crawls towards his easel, at last staggering to his feet. He grabs his palette and a brush and begins working with frenetic strokes, his damp hair falling in his face, his brow knit with concentration. You don’t have to ask what he’s doing. He’s trying to paint you before the memory begins to fade. He works in thin layers, just enough to cover the white of the parchment. His visions are soft and fragile like dreams, things that can be blown away and forgotten. From where you’re still lying on the floor, you gaze up at Aegon as he paints.
Is it possible that I’m in love with him? Is it possible that after this voyage I’ll never see him again?
You have no sense of how much time has passed when he finally looks over at you and says: “I think it’s done.”
You stand and wander across the bedroom, your red robe still open and hanging loosely from you like flayed skin. On the paper you find two faces instead of one, you in a golden haze of ecstasy no one else can see the cause of, Aegon whispering as your fingertips reach back for him.
He has written in black in the bottom right corner of the painting: Petra and Picasso.
~~~~~~~~~~
Aegon doesn’t want to move it yet. The oil paint needs hours to dry, and he’s worried that if he takes it outside while it’s still wet, the wind screaming down from the Arctic might be cold enough to make the paint freeze and chip away, and the momentary lust-red magic he’s captured will be gone. So with the new painting still clipped to it, you hide Aegon’s folded easel, the leather portfolio, and the wooden box of supplies under your bed, concealed by the white ruffled bed skirt. You both take turns cleaning up in the bathroom—someone always listening for the noise of an unwelcome interloper—and Aegon shimmies back into his clothes while you change into a blue dress, velvet for warmth, pale like ice.
“Where can we go?” you ask Aegon as you put on a coat, heavy white wool. I don’t want to say goodbye to you yet.
He must feel the same way. He pushes Daemon’s writing desk back to its original place, unblocking the door. Then Aegon offers his hand and you take it.
You walk together into the sitting room. Fern looks up from where she’s perched on the sofa and sewing closed a rip in the sleeve of one of Dagmar’s charcoal-colored dresses, her eye wide.
“Thank you, Fern,” you say, calm and drowsy. “That will be all for tonight.”
“Yes ma’am.”
“How can I repay you?” You don’t have your own money, your own land; even the jewels in your collection belong to Daemon. You’d give them all up if they could buy your freedom. You’d let them sink into the dark cold North Atlantic Ocean, emeralds and rubies and sapphires. Randomly, you think of Daemon’s gemstone-studded dagger, the hilt glinting with gold.
Fern replies: “Never send me away to live with people who don’t bring me chocolate croissants.”
You dash to the sofa and hug her; Fern is stunned but accepts your embrace, warily patting your back as if the bones beneath might be porcelain or glass. Then you clasp Aegon’s hand again and vanish with him into the hallway.
Most of the men are still at dinner or have moved to the First-Class Smoking Room, the women are still gossiping and sipping their champagne, and so you and Aegon slip through the heated corridors like sharks in warm currents. He leads you towards the stern, to the section of the ship reserved for his chosen people, then down to F-Deck and the Third-Class Dining Saloon. They are just beginning to move the tables out of the way for dancing. You find a quiet corner of the room and take off your coats, then Aegon disappears for a moment and returns with a tray: two plates full of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes, two bowls of plum pudding, two cups of tea, a dark bitter pint of Guinness for you. You can feel your face light up when you see Irish food.
“You’re lucky you weren’t down here for breakfast,” Aegon tells you. “We had fried tripe and onions.”
“Oh, awful,” you say, laughing. You take a bite of corned beef and close your eyes, thinking of Saint Patrick’s Day with your family each year, always a cold wet day in March, green hills and grey mist. When you open your eyes, Aegon is smiling.
“A little taste of Ireland.” Now he is wistful. Across the room, the musicians Aegon sometimes plays with have climbed on top of a table and are performing My Wild Irish Rose as couples whirl around the floor. “I’ll miss it. I love the music and the people. Perhaps one in particular.”
“What are you going to do when you get home?”
“I’m going to tell Aemond he has to teach me how to be a duke,” Aegon says casually as he eats. “I can’t really give it up, unfortunately. The title belongs to the Crown, not my family. It can be taken away any time the king decides he wants to. And he’s a strict one, George V. He’s humorless, he’s harsh. If I refuse my inheritance, I can’t just pass it along to Aemond, not unless the king agrees. But the way I am…my failings, my lack of restraint…it makes my bloodline look like bad stock, doesn’t it? Especially with all that eugenics bullshit floating around. I don’t want my mother and siblings to lose everything because of me. My mother has spent her entire life miserable, I figure she should have something to show for it.”
The Hightower branch of the family are phantoms to you. You know them only from newspaper articles and erratic gossip and sneering remarks muttered by your husband. You take a swig of your Guinness, and for the first time in as long as you can remember you don’t feel like you want to have another. You don’t want to take the jagged edges off this moment, hidden below deck with Aegon for what is almost certainly the last time. You don’t want to forget anything about him. “What’s Aemond like?”
“Superior to me in every way,” Aegon says. “Disciplined. Clever. Very tall.”
“I myself favor short, delinquent artists. Those tall clever dragons are nothing but trouble.”
He snickers, shaking his head. “I’m not a real artist.”
“Sure you are. You’re Picasso.”
He’s watching you with murky blue eyes, dazed and marveling. “What are you going to do when you’re back in Ireland?”
It’s a fantasy, a folktale. I’ll never see Ireland again. “I’m going to help take care of my father. He’s…he’s not well, and he hasn’t been for a long time. His memory is failing. I want to make his last years as painless as possible. I want to spent time with my mother again, I want to go on walks and sit in the garden and read books and paint our ugly little pictures. We used to play this game where we’d each paint an animal and then have the other guess what it is. It once took her twelve tries before she realized my grey blob was supposed to be a basking shark. I saw one washed up on the shore when I was little.”
Aegon is smiling. “I could teach you how to paint.”
“Yes,” you say softly, knowing it will never happen.
“You could teach me what it’s like to have nice parents.”
“They’d adore that. They always wanted more children.” You are distracted, gazing into your Guinness, flecks of foam like constellations in a night sky. “I want to make sure Draco grows up to be a good man. I want him to be kind and gentle.” You look to Aegon, the thought suddenly leaping into your mind like a cat onto a windowsill. “Like you.”
Aegon’s eyebrows shoot up. “Like me? No, Petra. You don’t want that. I was a demon.”
“And yet you turned out fine in the end.”
“I turned out weak,” he says, abruptly severe. He drags his fingers through his disheveled hair, staring forlornly at the white wall behind you. “I wanted to help you but I can’t. I followed you from Galway to Cork, to the first-class decks, to your staterooms, and now…now when we dock in New York you’re going to get dragged off to wherever Daemon wants you to be and…and there’s just nothing I can do about it.”
“You’ve helped me,” you insist. “But now you’re too far away.”
Aegon comes over to your side of the table and drapes an arm across the back of your chair, and you lean into him, and together you watch the couples dancing to cheerful Irish music. Below your feet the engines are humming, and outside the waves are crashing against the hull of the ship, and up on B-Deck Daemon is probably crawling like a spider into Rhaenyra’s bed, and Laenor is consorting with his new Parisien companions, and Dagmar is reading some Scandinavian story to Draco before he falls asleep, and husbands are dulling their worries with brandy and cigars, and wives are distracting themselves with gossip about other women’s lives.
You don’t want to leave, not even as the passengers here in the Third-Class Dining Saloon begin to clear out and those left are so drunk they can hardly keep themselves upright, stumbling into tables and chairs and howling uproariously. Aegon doesn’t want to leave either. Now his arms have circled around your waist, and he’s nuzzling at your throat and the curve of your jaw, and you’re trying not to notice the weight of your black opal engagement ring on your left hand so you can forget the life you’ll have to go back to tomorrow.
I want him again, you think hazily. Where can we go? Where on earth can we go?
There is a sudden jolt, a deafening grinding sound, a tremor that shakes through the steel latticework of the ship. The few remaining dancers shout and cling to their partners. Pints of beer are knocked from tables and spill across the floor. Plates clatter and lightweight wooden chairs slide away.
“What the fuck was that?” a drunk man slurs, but then he and his friends begin to laugh about it, pounding on each other’s backs. You turn to Aegon. He’s not laughing. His eyes are large and darting around.
“Aegon, the ship is fine, right?”
“Yeah,” he says quickly, but he’s standing and passing you your white wool coat. “Come on. Let’s go up to a higher deck to see what’s happened.”
You picture the lifeboats that you have strolled past so many times, not nearly enough space for all the passengers, only the lucky half, the richest half. “The ship can’t sink, can it? That’s what everyone’s been telling me since we boarded, and I didn’t believe them because of course any ship can sink, but…Aegon…”
“It’s probably just a problem with one of the boilers or a propeller or something,” he says as he pulls on his black coat, stolen just like the way he’s stolen you tonight. But he doesn’t walk to the hallway and up the nearest staircase; he damn near sprints, dragging you along with him.
Outside the night sky is black and full of stars, bitterly cold, no wind. You emerge near the bow of the ship, and third-class passengers are kicking around chunks of ice as if they are playing Gaelic football. Aegon spins around, searching for the source of the ice.
“Ehi, amico! Did you see it?” an Italian man calls to Aegon. Aegon trots over to join him. You look down at the pine planks under your shoes. Is the ship listing towards the starboard side, or is that your imagination?
“No, what happened?” Aegon is asking the Italian. You can hear voices from the other decks, less alarmed than curious, people rattled awake, stewards helping to retrieve items that have rolled away.
“Iceberg, a huge one! We just went right past it! Pieces broke off and fell everywhere. We don’t have nothing like this in Napoli!”
“An iceberg?” Aegon echoes, stunned. He goes to the railing and leans over to squint out into the blackness. “Did we hit it?”
“We bumped it a little, I think,” the Italian says, unconcerned. Then he returns to the game, kicking a block of ice when it glides over to him.
“Look,” you say to Aegon when he returns to you, pointing skyward. Up in the crow’s nest, you can just barely hear the lookouts shouting back and forth. You cannot decipher their words, but they sound agitated. They sound afraid.
“Hit an iceberg,” Aegon murmurs, trying to make sense of it. “But that’s not serious, right? No one’s running for the lifeboats, no one’s talking about leaks or anything—”
“Aegon, does the ship seem like it’s listing to you?”
He peers down at the deck, shifts his weight from foot to foot. He doesn’t have to answer. When he looks up at you again, his blue eyes are panic-stricken.
“I have to find the shipbuilder Mr. Andrews,” you say. “He’ll have investigated, he’ll know how bad the damage is.”
“I’m going with you.”
I don’t know where my jailers are: Daemon, Dagmar, Rush, Rhaenyra. “You shouldn’t be in my section of the ship.”
“If something really is wrong, they’ll be the first people to know,” Aegon says. That’s cruel, but it’s true. First-class lives are worth more than his.
You fly up the steps to A-Deck, where on the Promenade Deck men in black suits are chuckling about the ruckus as they puff on pipes and cigars, and women in beaded evening gowns are pressing their soft pampered hands to their chests as they recall the shock of the earthquake-like shudder that rattled Titanic. Stewards are flitting around fetching tea and pillows. No one is talking about lifeboats or sinking, which you take to be a good sign; but you can’t find Thomas Andrews.
When you and Aegon have at last circled back to the bow of the ship, you spot a group of men walking swiftly into the glass box of the bridge. They are speaking in low voices, their hands moving in frenetic gestures. Thomas Andrews is there, you are relieved to see. J. Bruce Ismay and Captain Smith are among those with him.
“Mr. Andrews!” you cry, and he stops and turns. He is carrying an armful of rolled-up engineering drawings.
“Lady Targaryen,” he says numbly, then seems to lurch out of a trance and hurries to you, standing closer than would be considered proper. In his state, he has not noticed Aegon, lurking a few paces behind you and listening intently. “Your family, Daemon and the others…you must wake them.”
“I saw the ice on the deck by the bow, did the ship—?”
“We hit it,” Mr. Andrews tells you, hushed so others will not hear and become hysterical. “An iceberg. Scraped along the side, caused the iron plates to buckle below the waterline. I’ve seen the forward cargo holds and they’re…” He blinks, astonished, as if this is a nightmare he might still wake up from.
This can’t be happening. This ship was supposed to be unsinkable. That’s what everybody told me, that I was insane to fear the journey. “But…but what about the watertight bulkheads?” He had spoken so confidently of them at dinner just a few nights ago.
“I didn’t built them high enough, and seawater is spilling over the tops. The first five compartments are already flooded, too many for Titanic to stay afloat.”
“The ship will sink?” you whisper, terrified. Aegon moves closer, a palm on the small of your back.
“Yes,” Mr. Andrews says.
“When?”
“Perhaps an hour or two.”
“An hour?!”
“Carpathia has answered our distress call, but she’s four hours away.”
You stare at him. “And the ocean…it’s freezing.” Anyone left adrift in it will die.
“Get to a lifeboat, Lady Targaryen,” Mr. Andrews says. “Don’t wait. I’m doing everything I can.” He rejoins the other men and goes with them into the bridge. Behind the glass walls, J. Bruce Ismay begins to yell something at Captain Smith.
“Hey, hey, listen,” Aegon is telling you, but you can’t seem to focus on him. His voice sounds like it is coming from very far away, another coast, another lifetime.
“There aren’t enough lifeboats,” you say, flat with shock.
“I know. I remember what you told Fern when I saw you up on the Boat Deck.”
You race for the steps that lead down to B-Deck where your staterooms are. “I have to find Draco—”
“Wait, wait, listen to me.” Aegon’s hand reaches out and grasps yours, not imprisoning you but imploring you, begging you to hear him. “Half the people on this ship are going to die.”
“Yes,” you agree, the horror of it quivering in your voice. In the frigid night air your words turn to fog like the mist that clings to the Cliffs of Moher, like ghosts captured in the corners of photographs.
“And most of the bodies will never be recovered, and there will be no way of knowing for sure what happened to them, and the crime scene will be at the bottom of the ocean.”
Crime scene? Crime scene??? “Aegon, what are you talking about?”
“Don’t you get it? Petra, this is your way out. I’ll help you. We’ll do this together.”
Draco. I have to get Draco into a lifeboat. “Aegon, I don’t understand, do what?”
His eyes are gleaming; the grin that splits across his face reveals teeth like pearls. “We’re going to kill your husband.”
I have talked about this a lot before but it’s on my mind & also it’s something that really should be discussed more in Buffy fandom -
Tumblr media
People are constantly talking about how Spike defies all the rules Buffy was taught about demons & vampires & rightfully so. A vampire falling in love with a slayer & fighting for his soul for her is such a romantic notion & I do love it but the nuance of Spike’s arc is even more interesting than that! He does love Buffy but not only that he befriends the Scoobies too. He brings flowers for Joyce after she dies. He helps prove that Tara is not a demon when her family tries to gaslight her & isolate her. He becomes a pseudo big brother to Dawn.
And yet none of that is even what I’m here to talk about! Spike IS a hero & he does have a long spanning redemption arc before the soul (& we’re NOT here to talk about Seeing Red right now, as usual that topic is too expansive & requires its own post) that should be acknowledged & his character is rightfully praised but he is NOT the only exception to vampires having nuance & it drives me crazy that we act like he is. The Judge isn’t just talking to Spike when he says this:
Tumblr media
“You TWO.” He’s talking about Drusilla too! He says that they share affection & jealousy. That Angelus in his total sociopathic lack of human emotion is the odd one here.
Then you have things like this -
Tumblr media
Conversations with Dead People has Buffy sharing a very long & deep conversation with an old acquaintance turned vampire. And it’s far from the only example in universe of a vampire retaining some sense of camaraderie with people from their life!
Tumblr media
That’s right this entire rant has been a lead up to talk about my best girly Harmony Kendall. You’ve fallen for my ruse if you’ve read this far muahaha! Admittedly Harmony’s strongest moments are mostly unfortunately on Angel but even in season four of Buffy when she dates Spike she is clearly intended at times to be sympathetic. Season 4 is also interesting because we see a lot interactions between various gangs of vampires like Harmony’s so-called minions & even Sundays gang where they’re very much evil but also sharing in living (existing?) space & acting like bickering roommates or siblings. Like creatures with bonds & personalities & intricacies.
The point I’m trying to make is that the show never truly wants to grapple with the existence of Spike in all his nuance but it’s also not just about him! In general there is so much to grapple with in the idea that vampires can change & be redeemed & I’m not saying I’m anti scary evil vampires I’m just saying the universe gave us these hints of nuance & then the characters never grappled with it & that’s lame. For Buffy killing things that have a shot at redemption however small would be a major emotional blow if she ever addressed it! Especially in her season 5 “am I just a killer 🥺” arc. Let’s deal with the implications!
Tumblr media
Let’s deal with Xander’s trauma about killing Jessie & just how much it would/should hurt for him to see Spike increasingly choose good & work with the Scoobies. I would LOVE to know Xander’s reaction to Harmony’s arc on Angel or Cordelia befriending her & letting her go ina world where the writing acknowledges that he drove a stake through his best friends heart!
It’s just that the writers accidentally complicated their own lore & then totally refused to ever let their characters address what the cracks in the stories they tell themselves mean. Giles says that a vampire is no longer the person but instead the thing that killed them. What’s scarier: the idea that your loved one was killed & something wears their face like a mask OR much more insane (to me) the idea that your loved one came back very wrong but it’s still them? Your brother eats people now but he still remembers how you like your eggs & can quote every episode of the cartoon you watched as kids. Your mom murdered that woman from the PTA who always talked too much in cold blood but she still remembers the recipe for your favorite pancakes. The show wanted scary vampires but it got so caught up in never addressing the infinitely more complex & scarier vampires it accidentally created & sticking to the more simplistic initial idea that it did both the characters & lore very dirty. And I’ll never shut up about it!!!
blind date
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing : changbin x gn!reader
summary : when you’re set up on a blind date and it turns out to be your ex boyfriend from two years ago
wc : 1.6k
cw : nonidol!au, they’re exes your honor, fluffy, cutesy, not proof read that much idk what else
a/n : wrote this on my phone again so sorry for any mistakes! i don’t really know how to feeeel abt this fic, not my best work but i hope you like it!
you let out a nervous sigh as you enter the restaurant, a cold shiver traveling down your spine as the hostess leads you to your table, one your friends reserved on your behalf. you were starting to regret agreeing to this blind date your friends, hyunjin and felix, set you up on, but they were so insistent on it and said they found the ‘perfect’ match for you. you weren’t sure if you could trust them that much, but you knew at the very least, whoever it was wouldn’t be some creep like your other unfortunate dates.
hyunjin and felix were some of your best friends, ones you made in the last two years since you moved to the city due to a new position you got in your company. you met them by chance through a few coworkers, and since then, the three of you have been inseparable. they were incredibly supportive people, but they were tired of hearing you complain about shitty dates every weekend, so they decided to take matters in their own hands, stating they know this really cool guy through some other friends who was ‘totally’ your type. and apparently this new guy just moved to the city a few months ago too, so you would be the perfect tour guide for him too.
regardless of your nerves, you decide to put your trust in your friends as you patiently wait for this mystery man to arrive. you were curious to know what those two boys believed your type was and what made them so hellbent on making you go on this date, but perhaps curiosity killed the cat.
“hey, sorry im late!” a voice you were all too familiar with rings in your ears, the man before you rushing into his seat across from you with an apologetic smile as your mouth hangs open in utter shock and surprise, goosebumps making themselves known all over your body.
once he sits down, he looks up to meet your flabbergasted expression, the smile on his face falling once the realization hits him. his faces pales, almost as if he just saw a ghost appear right before his very eyes.
“changbin?” you ask incredulously, still not able to accept the ridiculousness of the situation.
“y/n?!” he mirrors your tone, except he was far more boisterous than you, causing a few heads to turn as he flashes a sheepish and apologetic grin to the other patrons around you two.
“i… uh, you’re my blind date?” he questions in a lower volume with raised eyebrows.
you sigh, an astounded chuckle escaping you, “i guess so…”
“i see… since when did you move here?”
“uhm, a little bit over two years ago. i ended up taking that promotion my company offered me,” you respond, a hint of anxiousness trembling through your words.
“oh, so, basically after we broke up..?”
“mhm,” you hum in confirmation, your body feeling tense due to the awkwardness that hung in the air between you two. “felix and hyunjin told me you just moved here, right?”
changbin nods, “yeah, one of my old friends needed a roommate and i just kinda wanted a fresh start, so i took my chances. how do you know hyunjin and felix?”
“coworkers,” you reply shortly, not really sure what to do in this situation.
“oh, cool! they’re old high school friends of mine, we only reconnected recently,” he smiles gently, biting his lips due to his nervousness, “i’m sorry if this is awkward.”
“ah, no, it’s okay. it’s no one’s fault, this is just some crazy coincidence,” you reassure him, “we don’t have to go through with the rest of the date, it’s okay to end it he-“
“no, no!” he interrupts, a dusting of pink appearing on his cheeks, “if you’re okay with it, we can just use this to catch up, no? it’s been awhile since we last spoke.”
you let out an uncertain sigh, “i’m fine with it, it’s just that we really didn’t end on the greatest of terms, did we?”
changbin’s face grimaces as he reflects back on the last months of your relationship, ones that were filled with constant fighting and disagreements over the littlest of things, which ultimately led to a very over dramatic break up since you both had become sick of each other over time. “no, definitely not,” he chuckles, “but we can catch up like old friends, no? unless, you wanna miss out on a lovely time with me, then that’s your decision,” he teases, the old changbin you once fell in love with slowly peaking through.
you roll your eyes playfully, “right, it would be a shame if i missed out on something like that,” a smile breaks out onto your face, a sudden wave of butterflies and shyness overtaking you. “sure, let’s catch up. i don’t mind.”
“great,” he clasps his hand almost as if he was celebrating this small victory, an embarrassed smile taking over his features, “well, i guess hyunjin and felix weren’t lying when they said this ‘mystery date,’” he lifts his hands to do air quotes, “would be my ideal type.”
you shake your head, laughing at his statement, “right, they weren’t wrong at all. maybe they were a little too spot on.”
somehow, those two hit the nail on the head and somehow paired up two former lovers through some miraculous twist of fate. there was no denying that your heart still had room for changbin, a piece of it feeling empty since your relationship with him ended. at the end of it, you had chalked it up to right person, but bad timing, as each of you were far too engrossed in each other’s career goals that inevitably took time away from the other. it wasn’t the right set of circumstances for either of you, as nether of you were at a stage of life where you could nourish a healthy relationship. he was once the person you imagined to spend the rest of your life with, but at that time, you thought if you weren’t able to bear hardships with him, then maybe he wasn’t meant to be that person. it was easier to accept you two were never meant to be, but your heart knew better than that. your heart knew he was the one, but that life just cruelly got in the way of your relationship with him.
eventually, the waiter came around to take down your orders, briefly interrupting the flow of conversation you and changbin were having. in some strange way, talking to changbin against was incredibly refreshing, as you missed the sense of safety and familiarity he brought with him. he was still the same sweet and endearing changbin you once fell in love with all those years ago, and maybe those feelings of love never truly left your heart as each time he would giggle, your heart would thump out your chest. you found yourself having to resist the natural urge to hold his hand, or to reach over and pinch his cheeks like you use to do back when you were together.
you missed this, and you missed changbin more than you could’ve ever imagined. his very appearance was enough to rekindle old flames of affection you once held for him, ones you never thought you’d be able to experience again. you both were enjoying every moment together, laughing and poking fun at each other as if nothing had ever changed, and before you knew it, two hours had gone by in the blink of an eye.
changbin insisted on walking you to your car, matter-of-factly informing you it’s what chivalrous men like himself do, which sent you into a small fit of giggles.
a gentle breeze bellows through you both, a comfortable silence filling the air, the awkwardness from earlier no longer to be found. you look up to the night sky, taking a chance to admire the full moon that glistens above you.
“you know, whenever i look at the moon, i still think of you,” changbin confesses in a hushed whisper, a longing look in his eyes as if he was looking off into some distant memory. you turn to him with a quizzical expression, urging him to go on. “you use to always tell me to look how pretty the moon was nearly every night. even if we weren’t together, you would text me to go outside and look at it,” he reminisced fondly.
“you always looked too,” you smile.
“honestly, i didn’t really get it at first,” he laughs, “but i loved you and it always made you happy whenever we looked at it together, so i made sure to look at it every night. even if we were fighting and weren’t with each other. even now, i still look up and think of you.”
your face grows hot as his words fluster you, the unexpected vulnerability catching you off guard, “thank you,” you respond gently, “for doing that for me. it always made me feel very loved.”
“i still do it. i think part of me will always love you no matter what.”
your breath hitches, your eyes widening as he looks away bashfully, not expecting or planning for those words to ever leave his mind. you let out a soft exhale through your nose, a shaken smile taking over your features, “i feel the same way too.”
quietness returns, neither of you sure how to continue the conversation as you reach your car, “well, this is me,” you break the silence, pointing to the car next to you, “thank you for today, it was… fun. i had a lot of fun.”
he nods, “me too,” taking in a deep breath, “do you… do you want to do this sometime again?” he asks meekly, fearing your response.
“yeah, i’d really like that, changbin.”
“okay, great. it’s… it’s a date?”
“it’s a date.”
You hum a soft tune as you and Lucien head towards the busy town market. The two of you were roommates and had run out of... well basically everything needed to live. Neither of you had gone shopping in 4 weeks all because of a stupid fight in which you both believed you were in the right. You'd only made up because you'd both agreed food and wine were necessary to enjoy a good life.
As you approached the first stall selling fresh fruit, someone running at full speed smacked straight into your side. This, of course caused you to fall and collide into Lucien who, despite his many muscles, also fell and collided into the fae near him.
A whole chain reaction of people tripping and stumbling occurred and half of the market turned into disarray. All because of a stupid running fae that-
You froze. The person that had caused this was... downright beautiful. His eyes were a lovely shade of amber and his hair a fiery red. There was a splatter of freckles over his nose and cheeks that left you reeling.
You felt Lucien stiffen on the ground under you and you suddenly realized you were lying on top of him. You cringe and make a move to get up when a hand extends into your vision. "Let me," the strangers smooth, silky voice cuts through the air.
You reject his hand, getting up on your own. Lucien stands up so fast, you swear he gets whiplash. He glares at the male.
"Eris. What brings you here?"
"Oh Lucienn, it's so nice to see you again, little brother, just the person I was searching for actually."
You blink, Eris? As in Eris Vanserra? Like the recently appointed High Lord, Eris Vanserra? You panic, having just rejected your high lord's hand offer, you quickly move to sink into a bow when your best friend's hand lands on your shoulder.
"Don't. He's not worth your loyalty." You've never heard your friend's voice this cold.
"Ouch, that hurts lil bro," Eris mock pouts, putting a hand on his perfectly sculpted chest.
"Lucie?" You look up at the scar on Lucien's face, suddenly afraid to meet his eyes. He's looking at Eris, mouth set in a line, heat radiating.
"Who's this lovely lady?" Eris drawls, "Where have you been hiding her all this time?"
"She is off limits." Lucien glowers.
You frown, glancing at your friend before going to address Eris. But the moment you meet his eyes your world tilts, a sudden bright light making you gasp. A loud, clear snap cutting through the world as you know it.
Eris is your mate.
Eris is your mate.
Eris is your mate.
"Y/n! Are you alright?" Lucien's concerned face slides into your vision and you realize you've fallen so you're leaning against him. The rest of the crowded market has went back to their previous business. Everything is back to normal. Except....
"Get your hands off my mate." Eris's low growl reverberates through the space, causing many people to turn and frown at him before realizing he's the High Lord and turning back as if nothing happened.
Lucien pale ten shades. "What did you say?"
"She's my mate."
You grunt, body instinctively leaping forward upon hearing Eris's voice. Cursing the Cauldron and the Mother and every old god you can think of you clutch your chest with one hand and Luciens sturdy bicep with another.
You glance up at Eris only to see him watching your hand grip Lucien's arm. You quickly let go, stepping in front of Lucien.
"Do not hurt him."
Eris gawks at you, offended. "You find out I'm your mate and the first thing you ask is for me not to hurt my own brother?"
You glare. "There is no way my kind, caring friend is your egotistic asses brother."
Eris's mouth opens in pure shock.
A slightly choked laugh comes from behind you, "You would not have called me kind and caring twenty minutes ago when you were throwing a pillow at my face telling me to do the shopping because I'm a 'egotistical fae brute.'"
You groan and take a playful swing at Lucien. "Ok fine, maybe you are brothers. But... Luc, what do I do about the mating bond?"
Lucien shrugs, "It's your choice."
Eris smirks at you. "That, my brother is right about. I won't force you into anything... unless you want to be forced of course."
You raise your brows at him and he puts his hands up as if to say, don't kill me, I'm just stating facts.
You sigh, shaking your head, barely suppressing a smile.
A sudden wave of emotion comes down the new bond in your chest. Joy, relief, fear and a pinch of desperation.
You blink at the male in front of you, dressed head to toe in fancy clothes, eyes sparkling, hair flaming and face smiling.
You think you can make this work. Maybe you were wrong to curse the cauldron earlier. Maybe it was right. Because this male in front of you sure does seem just right.
"Ugh stop..." Lucien's voice cuts through your thoughts. "You two are already so lovey dovey I can see it in your eyes. It's gonna make me hurl."
You and Eris both shoot him an identical glower.
