For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mommy. My dreams as a kid were not to be a doctor or actress or astronaut, ok, maybe the occasional fairy princess, but they were to be a mother instead. To say that my gifts from God are miracles is an understatement. After I had my daughter, I was told I wasn't supposed to have been able to get pregnant in the first place - for a variety of reasons, and that getting pregnant again would be the equivalent of lightning striking twice or winning the lottery. Sooooo, imagine my surprise when 8 years later, I was pregnant again! This time with a boy. That pregnancy was very problematic and my son was 3 weeks early and "born blue" with no signs of life. Once again, God intervened and my son is perfectly healthy and extremely intelligent, with just a couple of issues as a result of his birth trauma, that have mostly corrected themselves as he gets older. In the 1.5 years after he was born, I had 2 miscarriages. So, I am a mother of 4 children. Only 2 of which are here on earth with me. Having been a single mom of 2 very different kids for over 10 years now has not been easy, but it's been so worth it. They are my life. They are my everything. They made my childhood dream come true and I couldn't be more in love with my kids! I love them, no matter what, and it's a love that is not contingent on anything other than they are mine. My love for them has no strings, no conditions, no boundaries. No. Matter. What. I love them. I have been blessed beyond measure with and by them.
