Hornblower: PELLEW! Most definitely! I think you knew I was going to say this 😉 I feel like he often gets overlooked by all the younger men in the show but he has my heart 💙 Robert Lindsay is a very charismatic and handsome man imo.

Aubreyad: My dear Stephen. He also gets overlooked, (I mean, next to Jack everyone would get overlooked 😅) He's aware of this a few times in the books, and it breaks my heart. I like Paul as Stephen even if he's "too tall", his features are kind, and his eyes are stunning.

Hmm, this is quite a hard question for these fandoms, especially for Aubreyad:

Movie vise, I can't really name a person as bad, no one is bad, only misunderstood, and one can label some acts as "bad" but not the people doing them. I think I would need to dig in the books a bit further. 💙

Hornblower: The morally bad characters in the Hornblower series are indeed portrayed as "bad people". There are some that are "politically bad" ,and some that are "emotionally bad" and they have motives for being like that, so I can't really think of anyone that gets misunderstood by the fandom. Any ideas from you? Who is not as bad as they are portrayed?

I have to disappoint you here! 😭 I think that my ship for Aubreyad is the most popular, and it's Jack and Stephen 🩵 #otp

Ship of the line: Jack's first command! A fourteen-gun brig-rigged sloop, HMS Sophie!

My ship for the Hornblower is not as popular, but it's in the top three in the fandom- Edward and Horatio 💙

Ship of the line: Nothing can beat the Indy! HMS Indefatigable, a 44-gun razé.

heyyy I saw that you said in the tags you’re a little worried about posting such a history heavy post and since I am a historian of science I just wanted to offer some advice that I’ve tried to adhere to when writing papers (especially if the length is the issue): you will never fit everything into one paper/post/etc so choose a few key questions you want to answer. that sounds really intuitive but it’s honestly a skill that takes a lot of time to hone because most of us want to include everything we know but that is generally counter productive to creating a narrative, which is what we’re trying to do. also if you want any more specific advice lmk but I figured it can’t hurt to just leave it a bit more general as I don’t know what exactly the post is about.

(also don’t worry too much about this, it’s just a tumblr text post and not a paper you’re sending to a journal for publications, it’s gonna be fine I promise)

💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?

It's more of a platonic relationship for me (though I've read a short thing where this pairing was romantic, and would probably read more), but I have a soft spot for Hector and Widdershins in post-canon. Like, I have a soft spot for them, the Quagmire triplets, Fernald, and Fiona all living together post-canon in general, but I also like exploring the potential dynamic between these two in particular. The few remaining survivors from the Sugar Bowl Generation (and each of them being the only survivor the other keeps in touch with), the overly cautious one vs. the one who does not hesitate even when he ought to, two men who fucked up big time but maybe can make some amends now. I imagine they find each other annoying but also begrudgingly care about each other. Maybe not that begrudgingly as the time passes.

🧡: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?

Miranda Caliban being Fernald and Fiona's mom. I have no substantial counterproof, I just don't vibe with it.

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?

It seems to me that everyone in the fandom actually has a good grasp of what Lemony is like? At least they did last time I engaged with it outside of my dashboard. The only wildly incorrect opinion I can think of is clearly an outsider perspective - that meme about how to treat the children of your dead beloved that uses Snape as the bad example and Lemony as the good one. He's no Snape, of course, but he didn't really help the Baudelaires either, unless you count cleaning their name in his books, and, if I remember correctly, we never learn if that even worked.

Hi! I'm finally back from my two week abroad trip!

proof of donation: feeding people in gaza

last week, you guys helped raise over $800 to help ahmed do relief work in gaza! take a look at what you made possible.

proof of money received:

on the left is the original screenshot of the bank transfer in arabic. in the middle, shimaa has kindly edited the photo with english captions to explain what each section says. after transfer fees and deductions, they were able to receive $899. last of all, on the right is the physical money in israeli shekels that ahmed was able to withdraw.

proof of relief aid in the refugee camp:

here are the pots of food that ahmed cooked and set up! you can see all the families and children who have come to eat. in addition, ahmed bought clean water to distribute around the camp, as well as baby formula (pictured bottom right) for those in need.

the original goal was $800 to feed everyone in the camp a hot meal, buy water, and get juice for the children. the extra $100 raised was used to buy the baby formula.
