Who is Hamish Harding?

Hamish Harding, a 59-year-old British billionaire, businessperson and explorer, was reportedly aboard the submarine when it disappeared, according to BBC News, which noted that Harding announced publicly his decision to join the Titanic shipwreck expedition.

Harding's company, Action Aviation, later confirmed that he was aboard, The Associated Press reported. "There is still plenty of time to facilitate a rescue mission, there is equipment on board for survival in this event," the company's managing director, Mark Butler, told the AP. "We're all hoping and praying he comes back safe and sound."

Government officials in the United Kingdom told CBS News they are in contact with Harding's family and prepared to assist as search and rescue operations continue. 

I couldn't come up with a more satirically British Billionaire name if I tried.

"A submarine has gone missing" : Oh jeeze, I hope they find those people.

"A submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well, that's a little ghoulish but I can't blame folks for a morbid curiosity, especially at a monument to white man's hubris.

"An experimental cobbled together submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well at this point y'all were just taking your lives into your own hands and also how is 'slapped together submarine' a legal thing that's real.

"An experimental cobbled together submarine full of the absurdly wealthy visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Okay now this just feels a little too on point someone has to be joking with me.

as a 1, I'll try to answer. it's difficult to explain, though. for one thing, I can picture things much easier if my eyes are open, and I'm sure that's not the case for every 1. what it looks like when I do that: I can still see what's in front of me with almost perfect clarity (hard to judge, since I'm nearsighted), and at the same time I can see what I'm imagining with perfect clarity. they aren't combined or overlayed in any way. it doesn't obey any laws of logic or physics, and I guess that makes sense, because it's subject to neither

it's not like a hallucination though. it's voluntary, there's no sense that it might be real, and it easily changes, degrades, or disappears if my attention wanders. very insubstantial!

The Camouflaged Looper: these caterpillars fashion their own camouflage by collecting flower petals/vegetation and using silk to "glue" the pieces onto their bodies

Though they're often referred to as "camouflaged loopers," these caterpillars are the larvae of the wavy-lined emerald moth (Synchlora aerata).

Camouflaged loopers deploy a unique form of self-defense -- they snip off tiny pieces of the flowers upon which they feed, then use bits of silk to attach the vegetation to their backs. This provides them with a kind of camouflage, enabling them to blend in with the plants that they eat.

Some of them create little tufts that run along their backs, while others fashion a thicker camouflage that covers their backs completely. In some cases, the camouflaged loopers will even build much larger bundles that surround their entire bodies.

Their range includes most of North America (from southern Canada down through Texas) and they can feed upon an enormous variety of plants -- so the disguises that these caterpillars build can come in countless colors, shapes, and sizes, incorporating many different flowers and other bits of vegetation.

I've drawn him a couple of times, just really little/in the background. but I should draw him more, I love this guy a lot! I have many, many thoughts about him and the way he parallels Silver...and also I think it is extremely funny that his ghost is stuck in a ring. especially considering where that ring has been for the last 16-ish years.
