It's the last Wednesday of March, which means time for another naming poll! For this poll, we're taking a break from our Thunderclan cast to focus on a different Clan's apprentice, one who we've met but doesn't earn a name in canon. We first meet Mosspaw when they bring their injured brother, Volepaw, across the border in search of Yellowfang. The two apprentices are revealed to be kits in the process of Bluestar's questioning - first apprenticed at 3 moons old by the power-mad Brokentail. They end up staying while their brother coalesces, alongside their mother, Featherstorm, who defends them fiercely from any threats - real or perceived. At the very end of Fire and Ice, we see them and their brother as healthy 6-moon old apprentices, with Mosspaw being apprenticed to Snowbird and Volepaw being apprenticed to Acornwhisper.

Mosspaw is one of the two openly nonbinary cats we meet in Fire and Ice, the other being Mosspatch, healer of Riverclan. (I swear I didn't plan for both the Mosses to be nonbinary - it just happened that way while writing!) They care for their family fiercely, even disobeying the fearsome Brokentail's orders to make sure their brother is safe, and eventually being convinced into staying to take care of him. We can see that even though they're shy, and deeply afraid of the Thunderclan cats, they still do what they have to to make sure their brother lives - an admirable quality! They are mostly white in color, with dark brown patches, and bright blue eyes.

Mossfeather is a legacy name that gives a nod both to their mother, Featherstorm, as well as their mentor, Snowbird. Mossheart, while chosen in part for their qualities, is also a legacy name given that Fireheart was the one to rescue both Mosspaw and Volepaw as well as Shadowclan as a whole. It's only thanks to him that Mosspaw lived long enough to gain said name! Mosscloud puts emphasis on their shy nature as well as mostly white pelt (You can even imagine that the patches look like clouds with this choice!), while Mossdawn, Mosspetal, and Mosswish all emphasize their nature that led them to cross the Thunderpath in search of help for their brother. They had picked this day for a reason and Leandro was reminded of it when they entered the lobby of the nearest inn overnight as a sort of makeshift honeymoon, a goblin-made radio perched behind the front desk crowing about Love is in The Air deals to ‘get while they were hot’. What a chuckle it would be when arriving home tomorrow, stopping by the city, and seeing all the sparkling, heart-shaped decorations just like those gracing the counter before them; while everyone else celebrated the idea of love, Leandro and Armiin would be able to celebrate their marriage right alongside them. It just went to show how tacky the boys could be about their own feelings because of the date they knowingly chose to wed.

And, oh, wed they did; there had been absolutely no mishaps with their humble ceremony despite how obviously nervous they both were, hands shaking during the ring exchange and shy smiles plenty bountiful. Ashenvale had proved a blessing of a scene thanks to perfect weather, beautiful ambience, and memories of their first date grounding such a choice as unforgettable, the main couple and guests all just as dolled up. Leandro in a suit of ebony with hair styled back and Armiin in white looking every but like the angel he was seen as—both tuxes crisp and fitting like gloves—made for the most charming, complimentary photo-op they managed to have Fae take for them. Just one, but that was all the blond had desired. It would be something to frame and place about the fireplace’s mantle.

After the promises given by Aldrasha’s tome were repeated and a lingering kiss shared, they cut a little vanilla cake they’d had made to pass around, Lean smearing a bit of frosting on his new husband’s nose for a laugh. (It wasn’t like he could eat his piece, anyway, so why not play with it?) All in all, the event had been ethereal—a true dream come true. It wasn’t until they departed for a room they’d booked in a nearby town that they seemed truly able to fawn over one another, though, so endless compliments slipped out just as fast as their clothing slid off in favor of a night spent skin to skin. Armiin naturally managed to find rest while the undead Darkfallen he was now partnered with remained wide awake.

It was hard for such a hopeless romantic to fall asleep knowing that he’d finally done right in his life by finding and keeping someone so damned special. Even in the low lighting of the room, he could make out the hunter’s longer lashes, any and every inch of his beloved admired with touches and kisses just gentle enough to prevent waking the guy. This was whom he would die for without question, again, and again, and again... Whom he would do absolutely anything for.

March 7th, 2am.

Once again do I find myself wide awake in the midst of the night despite having no longer such a need to do so. It may take some time before I find myself able to sleep with the night, but that will come in due time, and is not much a concern to myself. 

I have set myself upon a bench within the City limits to write, but yet I am not sure why as I now have a--home? I may find comfort within. I am able to sit myself beside a flaming fire without the fear of it licking upon me in my sleep, I am able to settle beneath covers atop a plush mattress. Artificial comfort, and yet, Sunwell be blessed I find myself growing familiar with the feeling so quickly. 

Even another stays within the home, as it is, his to begin with. Leandro graciously offered me boarding, comfort, warmth, and secure rest. I am not yet sure how to thank him, but I will figure that out soon. 

Leandro is far too kind to myself, and I am unsure how to repay his efforts and it is bothering me. I do not have anything in this World to give, I do not have much gold, nor trinkets of rarity; I do not have a home of my own and I do not have advice to offer of life. What do I have? That as well, I am unsure of. 

I’ve grown far too fond of this man, and even that, I do not know how to express it to him. I am wary despite my knowing, my knowledge of what is proper and what crosses lines is limited, and I have resulted in watching others from afar to better accumulate myself back with my kin. I have far too much to learn, and frankly, I find myself confused with most actions I happen to see. 

There is none I seek comfort in but this one, one which holds a chill in his touch and in his gaze alone, yet it is a chill I am drawn to--what is there to seek in warmth but a false sense of security? The chill keeps me alert, observant, unable to close my eyes for even a moment ‘lest I miss an important detail or give up my comforts. 

Tomorrow I am to turn 183 in my years, and yet, here I sit, unsure of how to express simple gratitude or emotion.

omg so you just finished tma (also a huge tma fan), did you have any fav characters/statements now that its finally done?

I'll probably have a better and more coherent answer after I've recovered from the finale (+ just the whole ordeal of binging the whole thing in two weeks) but I really like 170! Also 159

And there's a bunch of individual scenes I liked a lot like the recording software Jon's birthday and Sasha and Tim bantering about Jon being their new boss and also in 136 with Daisy's "stop mopin'"

In terms of favorite characters I really liked Georgie and of course Jon and Martin (I am very prone to loving main/popular characters) and Daisy was great too (side note that I really like her narrative parallels/foiling with Jon at times that was so cool)

Beyond that it is mostly all nebulous emotions and "oh my freaking gosh what the heck" and other unprocessed just. Thoughts. And stuff. Forever

Lavender and Carnations Zine - CC Nominations Guide

CC's are nominated based on what the community wants! A Google form with be posted on January 25th where you can nominate your favorite CC's to be featured in this zine.

Nomination requirements : 

CC must be openly queer in real life. CC’s who play queer characters but are cishet in real life are not the focus of this zine.

A CC needs minimum 10 nominations for them to be considered for the zine. If they get enough, they'll be marked down as an option to sign up for on the contributor applications! If they receive a minimum of 3 non-cover artists, 1 cover artist, and 2 fic writers, they'll be officially featured in the zine.

CC Nomination's will open on January 27th and close on February 5th.
