Hi Jen!! Happy Fri-yay!! I hope your weekend gets kicked off to a great start! Thank you for sending this my way, these are always fun!

Random Fact #1 - I love learning languages. I know a decent amount of Spanish and am currently learning Portuguese. Once I feel like I pick up enough to use context clues, I like to watch shows or movies in a different language to see how well I can pick up on what's being said. I most recently watched 30 Coins on HBO without the English dubbing. (side note, if you like religious horror I 110% recommend that show. Season 1 was really good.) Next up is Paradise.

Random Fact #2 - I have a green thumb. I grew up in New Jersey and our state nickname is the Garden State and I think when I learned that as a child I took it as a responsibility to garden. I have 15 house plants (in a one bedroom apartment) and every summer I overload my balcony with tomatoes, peppers and herbs. I actually just started my seeds a few days ago! Last year we had so many peppers that at the end of the season, I dehydrated them all to use as chili flakes and we still have half the jar.

Random Fact #3 - I have my blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Unfortunately I had to stop training about two years ago because I was dealing with injuries and health issues, but someday I hope to be able to get back to it. As a former marathoner, I can honestly say that training BJJ was the most intense workout I ever had in my life. I miss the adrenaline of "getting into fights" (sparring) and would love to get back in competition shape again. (Bonus fun fact, I won the Colorado state championship for my weight class in 2016) Occasionally I still dream in triangle chokes. Every now and then I slap a choke on my little brother (he's a foot taller than me) just to remind him that I can whip his ass.

i need to know more about the whole hot milk and cereal situation please. is it normal where you live? like did your parents do it when you were little? only in winter or all the time? pls tell!

i can only talk from personal experience tbh!

in my family we heat up milk for cereal. my parents did it for me when i was little and i just continued the tradition. and we do it all year round no matter the weather! (but to be frank the only cereal we eat are those nesquik chocolate balls. that + warm milk makes the milk taste kinda like chocolate milk asdfaf)

i have no idea what it's like in poland on average. a polish mutual replied to my poll saying that her family also eats cereal with hot milk. but i found a poll on a polish subreddit (if that even can be taken as a credible source) and people there predominantly voted for the cold milk option

but! the only thing i eat with cold milk is cornflakes. unlike maja who eats cornflakes with hot milk, hence my poll. but with the responses to the poll and your ask i'm kinda wondering if instead i should ask people if they eat cereal in general with hot/cold milk, not just cornflakes

i wanted to make this poll because as a gifmaker, i'm perplexed at the way the like reblog ratio on this site has gone down significantly in the past few years and i'm really interested in getting some insight as to why that happened.

I don't think people realize how RECENT some medical care is. The migraine preventative my husband is on was JUST released. The heart medicine that works best for me? When I got diagnosed, I was told "there's this medicine we think would work for you but it's off label use and insurance would never cover and it's $1800 a month without coverage" and then a few years later I was on that medicine.

My ventilator that's portable and lightweight. The one thats the size of a lunch box and 11 pounds? That's pretty recent, even now there's a lot of changes happening to the technology. I found out I'm being switched to a new model with twice the battery life. That means I'm no longer limited to 12 hours of mobility a day without having to be plugged in. (And I'm lucky for 12, I qualified for an extra battery. If I didn't it would be 8)

We live in unprecedented times to be disabled. And just because technology EXISTED before that doesn't mean it was good or available for people to actually use.

🍎 Is there anything that you straight-up won’t write?

I answered this one here but something else I will not write is angst for the sake of angst. I don’t like putting characters in situations just to make it painful. I’m never going to say “this is bad, but I can make it worse just to make it hurt more.” It all has to serve a purpose when it comes to Putting Them Through It. All broken eggs will result in omelettes on this blog or so help me!

🍊 Who’s a character you don’t write for that often, but keep meaning to write for more? (They’re so interesting! But maybe you have trouble pinning them down, or keep getting distracted by another blorbo…)

It’s Javi P. He intimidates me. Which fits, right? I mean he’d be pretty bad at his job if he wasn’t at least a little intimidating or assertive. But I feel like he could maybe chill a little with me? C’mon, Jav, I just want you to have nice things, can you please relax and let me give them to you??

No, but really, I think I convince myself that I don’t have his voice quite right, and that deters me from writing more for him. Even though I definitely have ideas for him.

🍒 What’s your favorite character dynamic to write? (Can be romantic or platonic, specific or general!)

Romantically speaking I love writing established relationships. I love when the characters know each other so well that they anticipate each other’s needs. I love letting them be relaxed and let their guards down and maybe even be a little silly. I love letting them come up with unique nicknames for each other (like Ezra coming up with Huckleberry for Clara or Frankie calling you Flamingo one time when your leg was broken and it just sticking).I love when they know that they can lean on each other so they do.

Platonically speaking I very much love to write a best friend who is willing to break knees for their person. A best friend who will throw a drink in someone’s face if they’re treating their friend like garbage. A best friend like Firo who is always ready to jump in when Navina needs him in Resol’nare or Navina who will literally steal from an Imperial shipyard because her buddy needs a ride. A friend like Libby and Max from A Bad Idea who are ready to throw hands for you when yours and Dieter’s sex tape gets leaked online. Friends who are there for you at your worst and your best and all the unremarkable times, too.
