They’re in the library cramming, as one always finds themselves doing during finals week; him for Planar Theory, her for Anatomy and Mending. And she knows she’s going to fail it, keeps dreaming that she opens the test booklet and discovers the whole thing is in Magid, or it’s the wrong unit, or the paper turns into a swarm of bats and flies right into her face.

And Red is a little bit of a flirt—this is well-established, mostly with people who find her an adequate shoulder to cry on after the fact, though she hasn’t joined their ranks quite yet—but even with how casual and unassuming he is about it, he’s never done so with her.

He asks what she’s studying, and she tells him it’s the parts of the hand, though at this point it’s reduced to flipping through her endless stacks of index cards and wishing for a proper diagram. And he says well, you could just show me, and holds out one of his hands.

She takes it, and it’s still unmarked, tan skin not yet scarred and callused from a decade’s worth of discovery, though someday it will be. She points to each segment in turn—distal, medial, and proximal phalanges, and anatomy doesn’t sound too far from an incantation as she lists them out, flipping over to his palm. And yet they’re not wholly blank. Here is the silvery-white slash of a scar across the spiderwebbed creases of his palm. Here is the mottled ghost of a burn from the time he snatched up a spell scroll and discovered the protection the hard way. Here is the stray freckled nestled in the curve of his wrist. Here are the formerly scraped knuckles and shadowed arteries running alongside taut tendon lines, the entire history of his exploration all in one place.

“If you want my opinion,” he says afterward, fingers still resting in hers, “I think you’re going to ace it.”

And she hadn’t expected him to pay attention—medical terminology is hard enough for Healers to memorize, let alone those studying an entirely different discipline that only happen to be in the same space —but seven years later they’re out for lunch again in the café. He’s through one and a half sandwiches, and she’s barely managed two sips of tea, but the conversation has always been the point of it, and she doesn't mind letting things settle. Somehow they’re on the topic of exams, the way they were half-killing themselves over knowledge but somehow in love with it all the same.

“I remember plenty,” he insists, the third variation on this particular theme.

“I’m not claiming you were completely oblivious,” she says. “Simply that you had plenty of your own projects to consider.”

And she always knows when something has caught his interest; a little light flares up in his eyes, and he leans forward, suddenly regarding you like you’re the most engaging thing in the world. “Really,” he says lightly. “Try me.”

He holds out a hand. After a moment she extends hers across the table. He takes it, turns it over carefully like she’s one of his precious artifacts, then bows his head and recites distal, medial, proximal--

“All right,” she says afterward, “maybe you do remember.” And he’d smiled at her over the rim of his teacup in a way that was familiar, and yet strangely not at all.

Okay, seeing Merlin's ask and your response just made me so excited because Carmen is one of my favorite operas/orchestral suites ever--

The Toreador March is so nostalgic for me, and hearing it referred to as "the FNAF song" is so strange to me asdfghkl

I also like Habanera!! I got to play the second violin part for it once, and just. It's so fun. Whenever I hear it now, I ALWAYS hear that part--it's usually played by woodwinds--and it makes me smile.

This is. So off topic of the ask game. But the orchestra kid inside me gets so excited at the mention of Carmen. Literally some of the most beautiful music on this earth.

I'm sure your f/os--Moira and Binah included-- love hearding you sing!! And, you know ... I feel Gebura would maybe secretly listen. She won't openly admit she likes it, but ... it's you, the woman she loves, so she's always happy when she hears you singing.

@librarian-lover oh I absolutely love Carmen. I really want to see it live someday, and learning Carmen’s vocal parts would be an absolute dream. There’s a reason I picked it as the first opera Libra and Moira ever saw together!

I think the Habanera is my favorite song in the entire opera - a lot of that owing to Carmen and the way her personality comes through. Seriously, if you’ve ever seen video of a really talented performer as Carmen, it’s amazing stuff. It is definitely gorgeous as an orchestral piece too, and as a former orchestra kid too I can certainly attest to that.

But oh, the thought of singing to an f/o gets me all soft inside. Especially those too. Sharing something I love with them and getting their admiration for it just really does something to my heart. Even Gebura getting in on it… I knew she had a soft side.

What it is about:

8 Students from night raven college were invited to the hat extravaganza, an annual event in the queendom of roses in which several school representatives design a hat in honor of the mad hatter and present it to the judges.

The representatives from night raven college, chosen by a (totally) random lottery, are:

Trey Clover, Riddle Rosehearts, Ruggie Bucchi, Leona Kingscholar, Jade Leech, Kalim Al-Asim, Rook Hunt and Malleus Draconia

They get accompanied by Divus Crewel as they adventure through town, come up with a design for a spectacular hat and peak into new places!

Yuu's role in all of this:

Due to grim's excitement and insistance, crowley allowed yuu and grim to come along in order to help crewel oversee the chosen students and their hatmaking process!

He twirls the pen back and forth in his fingers, knowing he’s only delaying the inevitable. It’s funny how these little moments of delusion creep up on him; he of all people should know that pretending that he’s fine has never made it true. Magister Elovira taught Advanced Binding & Material Work at the circle. The course was an elective targeted towards fouth-years, with a focus in the practical magics. Of particular note is that it was the first time you beat me in every exam, a fact that you never held over my head per se, but somehow managed to remind me of anyway.

so the moira/red amnesia au is built on this scenario here, where MC loses their memory and the RO has to deal with it! notes under the cut.

this is one of those story ideas that i don’t actively work on but consistently keep coming back to. anyone who’s ever talked to me for more than five minutes knows that i love taking a concept and rattling it around until i find some Grand Angle on it, and for the amnesia au, that’s red’s insistence that he is Going To Fix It. i noodled this one around a bit and came up with a bunch of angsty tidbits, but I couldn’t picture the arc until I hit on the emotional question at the center of it: what is moira and red’s relationship in the absence of their shared history, and what would happen if they couldn’t get it back?

Broadly speaking, badly at first LMAO. briony is in the running for moira’s canon best friend, and based on where I think her arc will go in moira’s timeline i think she and red will take vastly different approaches to the situation. for that reason, this fic is massively spoilery for things that aren’t even in the alpha build yet (but are in the short stories) and therefore is basically unpublishable until after the release of the main game, but i’m having a lot of fun with it!

not counting my characters from original works, selene is the oldest oc i have. i've played oblivion lots of times and she (for the most part) always been there with changes through the years. i went off with the moon as a concept for her, "she's a dreamer from the moon" is a line that always makes me think of her. selene is the unwilling hero, the one that got dragged into smth bigger than herself and slowly, since she had no choice, took the shape of the role they imposed on her. she found a mirage of a home for a little while, only for that to be taken away from her. it's truly not worth it to be a hero, huh?

a difficult battle between vio, akira & zefyr but in the end i went for vio. saying "mean" is an understatement. 'a rose born among thorns'..well she's a thorn born among thorns. it's difficult for me to speak of vio at times, she's more of a concept than a person, more of a numb soldier than the one in charge of her own life. an assasin and a pawn in the hands of a patron, melancholy and remambrance, her life is like a long walk to the gallows and while she's walking that path she has full intention of making it everyone's problem

this one made me realise how i barely have 'soft' ocs jklfds. easy sweep for joelle!! she had her whole life ahead of her with her wife & the son they just adopted, she looked at the future with exctiment until everything was taken away from her. joelle could've let the pain harden her heart but she didn't let that happen. joelle strives to help the people and what's left of the world she knew, she's a cutie who will listen to you talk for hours and crack stupid jokes to see you smile. her 'soft' nature doesn't make her naive so caution is still advised if you try to fool her!!

i love zefyr madly. MADLY i say. they are a powerful draconic bloodline sorcerer that values their privacy AND peace more than anything else. zefyr lives as a hermit in a forest where they can fully concentrate on their studies of the arcane & such. they do not trust easily (or at all) and their guard is always up. you probably won't get more than a few words from them (unless you ask them about magic and power and such), they just want to be left alone u know? they are known as the ashen terror and not only for their hair color: ashes and fire are the only things they leave behind if you dare anger them!! also they are pink. if pink why evil, they're probably just misunderstood..

you had a dumbest dovahkiin, now have a smartest ex-dragon priest!! a tie between her and joelle but since joy had her shot already, it's sibylla's turn. formely known as vennesetiid (=the winds of time/destiny), sibylla was a breton born during the middle of the merethic era that joined the ranks of the dragon priests for the simple desire of power, and knowledge. she later betrayed her dragon lords and joined forces to defeated them but lost her life during the battle. but it's not over for her!! a silly little situation makes her come back to walk Tamriel's land, this time as a vampire. sibylla has been alive for centuries and centuries and spent all that time studying the arcane and magic and science as well and working to become the most powerful mage that ever lived (lived..kind of). she saw most of the world's history & legends say she had the power to see the future & she's the proud achiver of the first ever gender transition in tamriel, if you don't love her already you better start

Hello bby ❤️ I was wondering if I could request Hanzo, junkerqueen, solider 76, Sombra and reaper reacting too their s/o being reported as KIA (killed in action) but s/o actually survives but are heavily injured and they make their way back to their lover and basically they collapse in their arms and are like “I made it back to you” they end up surviving tho. btw to make it make a little more sense they were assumed KIA because one of the other agents found the s/o dog tag so they just thought they were dead.

He froze and nearly shutdown when you were said to be killed in action

He refused to leave the area and desperately waited for you to return

He's glad he did because 5 hours in he sees you walking towards him, badly injured

Hanzo rushed you to a medic as fast as he could go

When you woke up and all you said was "I made it back to you." He collapsed into tears

He thought he'd lost you

Junker Queen

She, like Hanzo, refused to believe you were dead and claimed she'd do a search herself if no one else was going to

When she found you, you were covered in blood and wounds and collapsed into her arms

You gave her a faint smile ans whispered "I made it back to you" before passing out

She immediately scooped you up took you to a doctor

When you wake up be prepared for the sweetest kiss you've ever received from Odessa

Please don't scare her like that again

Soldier 76

He could feel a dull ache in his heart when you were proclaimed dead

Luckily Tracer insisted they do one final search

Soldier wasn't fit to be walking so they let him stay at the dropship

His head snapped around when he heard yelling coming towards him thirty minutes later

And there you were passed out in someone's arms bleeding badly

After that moment Jack never left your side and when you woke up he was so so thankful you were alive

Sombra

She was outraged when Reaper decided to declare you dead

She told them she'd meet them at the base but actually did one more search

And when she found you she had no hesitation rushing you to a doctor

The entire time she was whispering small prayers and trying to keep you awake

The second you woke up Sombra rushed to your hospital room to greet you

You could see the clear relief in her eyes as she pressed a joking kiss to the back of your hand

Reaper

He did not want to declare you dead but he also knew that Talon had to move on soon

But right as he was about to call the search off Widowmaker came towards him holding your body in her arms

Reaper gently moved you to his arms before taking you to Moira

(He heavily supervised Moira to make sure she didn't do anything experimental to you)

When you woke up Reaper was half asleep by your bedside and moved to kiss you the second you smiled at him

He doesn't know what he'd do without you
