Speaking to the media as a UK Army

Earlier in the week I mentioned in a local group chat that the UK’s attitude towards BTS and KPOP overall had changed. It felt like everyone was excited during Dynamite and then interest was quickly lost. Things got worse after the Festa Dinner. Because of previous experiences with a certain boy group, it was reported that the members would never return. These stories were soon edited, but it was obvious that there was a certain bias against the members now. The previous hype posts for them and their new releases were less present. Instead, we have gone back to having to do everything ourselves during chapter 2. 

As I am sure many of you are aware, it has already been a tough week for UK Army. We found out that MUSE had inclusions, making it harder to chart. We got backlash from solos for something that wasn’t our fault and the emails we sent were ignored or received weird responses. We are a resilient bunch though and we continued to promote and gain more funds. I figured that things for us couldn’t get any worse. I was wrong. On Sunday I was sent an article from the BBC by a friend. They asked my thoughts on it and I quickly understood why. Something else worried me though. I recognized the journalist. He is someone that we have history with. He kindly wrote about Persona and Wembley in 2019, but he also sneaked in a line that he thought that the members were miming through the concert. At the time, a few Army tried talking to him about it on Twitter and he was receptive to the feedback. I decided to try and do the same and to do it privately in the DM’s. Something which he told me himself that he appreciated. I spent a good amount of time drafting my message. I made sure that it was polite, but also included the reasons why a certain part of the article was troublesome. During this, a friend of mine also made a detailed thread correcting the misinformation. Once the message was sent, I went on with my day and waited to see if I would get a reply. Much to my surprise, I did indeed get a reply. I don’t have consent to share our messages, but we replied back and forth a few times and he said that he would look into changing the wording. I quoted my friend's thread, explaining that I messaged him privately and that he was working on it. As someone who posts about Jikook on a regular basis, you could say that I am used to getting unnecessary abuse. However, I was not fully prepared for the response to this. As more hours passed and there weren't any changes made, the more anger and hate I received. This greatly confused me, as I wasn’t the one who wrote the article itself. I just wanted to try and help and we had to be patient. 

A day later the edit was made. I messaged the journalist again to thank him and he responded back, explaining that the reason it took so long was because there was a debate internally about the best way to respond. I then shared on TL about the edit being made. It wasn’t the best edit, but that’s all we got. Unfortunately, the hate towards myself increased even more. Some said that the article was my fault, that I failed BTS or that I was an anti. Plus a few words that I daren’t repeat here. Some saw what was happening to me and sent kind support. These included people who I have never interacted with before and I will be forever thankful for that. I also spoke with some about the response of the general public towards the article. The article was heavily advertised so there were discussions in relation to Seventeen going to Glastonbury. This hasn’t been done before so some were curious and some were confused. It was interesting to see the reaction to it, even if it was poorly written. I was personally exhausted though.

This whole ordeal started on Sunday and I woke up on Tuesday still feeling a bit wary of receiving more hate. On top of this, I had gained around 300 more followers from all of this and didn’t know how they would react once I started posting Jikook. If I’m honest, I felt a bit uncomfortable with everything going on. What did shock me though, is that some of these new followers were going through my “pinned” post and liking the threads on Jikook. It made me a bit self-conscious, but I didn’t want it to overcome me and Jimin’s promotions though, so I came up with an idea. 

July is my Birthday month and to celebrate I am doing a giveaway for other UK Army. This gives them a chance to get any albums they currently do not own and to try and boost sales for Jimin at the same time. The UK fanbase don’t really want to be associated with me because of my account, so I decided to do everything myself. To help boost morale, positivity and the community spirit that Army has. Overall, I do not regret reaching out to the journalist. He was rather difficult to speak to, but an edit deserved to be made for the way in which it was written. I appreciate the discussion we had and those that supported me. My focus will continue to be on Chapter 2. Look after yourselves and each other.

I'm moving this blog, officially!

Cora's blog is too busy to be a sideblog, and my primary is beyond a point where I feel comfortable just resurrecting it (hah) as is. So I'm going to be remaking with this one as my primary. Eden, who I still love very many will be a sideblog to Cora's and urls should stay the same unless something horrendous happens the moment I swap over.

But! With that this place is going to be even more of a mess as I get myself re-situated. Here's some things I'm doing!

Clearing my Inbox! This is what I'm doing right now - I'm going to finish what I can in there. Anything I answer can carry on if you like, will just be doing that on my new blog. Because of this, I'm going to not reblog any more memes until I move.

PSA. i am a slow writer, and not a social creature.

i just want to make a post addressing this in the light of things that had been brought to my attention recently. i rarely if ever initiate a conversation especially in chats or DMs. 90% of the time the ones who still talk to me on regular basis are the ones who poke me regardless of how dead i have been since our last conversation, and i want to say how much i appreciate you guys for being understanding with me on that front. for tolerating me dropping off the conversation or unable to keep it going for long. or rarely messaging you guys first or sending unprompted asks whether ic or ooc. i know i am bad at it. and i'm sorry if i ever made anyone feel neglected by that.

i wake up at 5:40AM daily, spent 1-2 hours driving to work, work from 9-6, then another 1-2 hours drive back home. i usually have about 2-4 hours daily for leisure. i work a relatively stressful job with strict deadlines and responsibilities, so often enough my social battery is drained by the time i get home. if i don't respond to your messages, it's nothing personal, i promise. i'm just exhausted from work and irl things.

if you see me prioritizing some threads / muses / writing, again, it's nothing personal. with limited time that i could write, i tend to let my muses decide what they want to do and write what comes to me the easiest. sometimes they cooperate with me on things, sometimes they don't. i am just human, i do have partners who my muses and i tend to gravitate towards for various reasons. they're either my long-term mutuals, good friends of mine, or our muses and/or muns chemistry click really well that writing comes easy. however, that doesn't mean i don't want to write with you. i'm just slow, that's all. i do want to write with new people, and i try to do so. but i'm easily overwhelmed and take on more things than i could. that's on me, as well.

sorry if this comes out of the blue, but it needs to be said. i'm incredibly sorry if i have disappointed any of you by not meeting your expectations or have kept any of you waiting long for content from me. i do want to write with as many people as i could, but even i know it's impossible to write with everyone. i do try to reach out whenever time and energy permits, and i'm sorry if i let any of you down with promises or plots that didn't get to be explored.

We have a house guest for the next two months so my activity is going to be sporadic because of that. I have twice as many male characters than female, but I love my girls just as much. Fair play is something I highly appreciate.

happy new year everyone! it's 2024 and hopefully it is a better year for everyone around! 2023 was really chaotic for me so i am not sad to see it go. i am striving that this year be a better one!

So today's plans fell victim to my ADHD. I am going to try and keep hacking away at drafts bit by bit. (Thanks to everyone for being patient.) I plan on reaching out to recent followers and see if I can get some threads cooking with new people. I will probably be in and out a bit still until next week. I've been on a junk purge in my bedroom and the next step is cleaning.

Hello, do you have any advice on being approachable in this roleplay? I was a member in the past and unfortunately could not complete the activity checks due to a lack of plots with the other members (and I did not want to keep turning in self-paras). It wasn't that I didn't talk to them or didn't message them, but I got very little to no response and it felt like I was just pulling all the weight. Soon I might have time to give this place a shot again and I'd like advice to be a better member.

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention and we want to sincerely apologize about your previous experience in the roleplay. We understand how discouraging it can be when it feels like you're putting in effort but not getting much interaction in return. But we really appreciate you wanting to give us another chance as well. As for advice on being approachable, if you've done your part by posting plot calls and contributing to plot discussions, we feel it would be up to the other person to reciprocate that energy. However, it could also be a matter of members putting caps on their thread/plot counts or going on hiatus, resulting in slower responses or activity. If you feel that those who have reacted to your plot calls have not been as responsive, you are always welcome to initiate conversations in the group chats (or join in whenever topics are being discussed) or approach other members' DMs. We know that some of our writers won't mind people coming to them for plots and are always up for it!

With all that said, this concern is something we take seriously. We will raise it with the group and remind them to be more proactive with plotting and welcoming newcomers and old members alike so such situations can be avoided and improved. Despite Nocturne's dark themes, we want to foster a welcoming space for all writers where their OCs can thrive.

On the other hand, we are aware that a lot of our members are currently busy with this month's holidays so it also might take time for others to reply or get involved in too many plots/threads due to real-life commitments. So we kindly ask everyone to be patient and understanding while waiting for responses and not take these delays personally. helloooo :) no hate whatsoever but i noticed a lot of members are more keen on hyperbeaming than they are writing. this is something i noticed as well as something multiple of my friends have had the same experience with. hyperbeams are cool and all but it seems to be taking the place of people replying to their plot calls as very few people have reached out. any tips on how to navigate this? it's a little disheartening when so much work is put in to some of our ocs! thanks!

thank you for bringing this to our attention. we plan to address this issue in our upcoming update, however, we'd like to try and ease your mind with a brief response here. we personally, as admins, do not feel hyperbeams have become an issue due to only three taking place so far since we've opened however we do hear your concerns and want to accommodate as best as we can. we do want to say that with us being a semi-lit collective, we are here to cater to both the literate-inclined and those who prefer more casual interactions. this does not mean we are okay with people neglecting one-on-one conversations with muses and muns outside of their friend groups as we promote inclusivity in this group. we understand that some people may simply prefer getting to know other muses through group gatherings like the social chat and hyperbeams which we are okay with, but we do agree in being concerned about people not reaching out for plotting calls. we have stated on more than one occasion that everyone is responsible to reach out to those who react to their plotting or dm calls and we will reiterate this once again in our upcoming update. this is non-negotiable to us and we are sorry that you are experiencing this, we will do everything in our power to rectify the situation. our advice to you though is to stay patient as not everyone might have had the time to sit down and get to their plot calls just yet, but are planning to. another idea would be posting an open starter in our threads group which may attract fellow literate-inclined muns to reply. we also believe that most muns would not mind being reminded about a plotting call, as sometimes private posts can be tough to keep track of. but once again, we will address all of this in an upcoming update and we hope the changes you'd like to see occur from that point on because we do see and appreciate the effort that is being put in so far. we will do what we can to make things even better. thank you again for coming to us and we'll do what we can to continue to assist you and make magnolia a place you and your muse can enjoy.

hello everyone! admin kashia here to share a few things that we discussed as an admin team! please read the bullets down below carefully and like the post after you read it:

ACTIVITY CHECK. after careful discussion (it was literally ten minutes), to avoid the activity check, you’ll only need two threads with two different muns each week (this is per muse!!! so if you have three muses, you would have to do six replies to get off the check). so, you can complete your replies anytime before friday and you’ll be safe. sorry for the confusion! the reason why i (admin kashia) did it like this was because of how slow the dash was going. and while the admin team completely understands where i’m coming from, we decided that it would be best to make things easier for the current and future members by just following the basic two threads with two different muns rule. we just want everyone, admins too, to be active on a consistent basis. we just don’t want people to do two replies each week and just dip. the plot won’t be able to move unless our members are here and replying to each other. the activity check will resume again on friday, september 3, c23 time!

PLOTTING. we’re happy to see everyone plotting with each other and taking on the initiative to do their own little stuff. we just ask that you bring any major plots to the admins to see if it’s alright for you to do it. simply because we already have things planned out, we don’t want our plans overlapping with you all have in mind (we don’t wanna be buzzkills!). but we do love and appreciate the excitement!!!

MESSAGING THE ADMINS. if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for the admins, please message us through the main instead of messaging us individually on discord. this is just so that we’re all kept in the loop and can help you better (and faster)! but when it comes to mun-to-mun plotting or regular chatting, our dms are open!
