i LIVE for it. i looooooooooooove it when two character are obviously down bad for each other but have zero clue and have to fake date for whatever silly reason and it ends up being wayyyyyy too enjoyable for both of them. but of course they have no idea their feelings are mutual so they're trying very hard not to let their very real feelings ruin their friendship. because there's no way the other person feels the same, right? of course their kiss was just very good acting to fool everyone else :))))

(of course i'm not mean enough not to have character a and b get together at the end. i love it when all their friends call them out and they realize how stupid they've been the whole time. it was fake dating but their feelings were very much real)

-Oop, almost forgot about today being the debut of the newest HB episode "Unhappy Campers" lol Lets talk about it!~ :>

*Spoiler warning ahead for those who didn't see the ep yet-*

Soooo to start things off, lets get to the Positives!

*-M&M get to stand out more in the main A-story for a change, yay! 👏👏And even including a bit of drama for the couple to deal with as they started to clash over their roles in this "mystery"-solving; especially with Millie revealing to carry some insecurities over not feeling "appreciated" outside of a supportive role/killing-machine… poor girl :c Glad to see she was able to have her moment to shine on stage by the end while Moxxie "took care" of their suspect, the gal deserved that time to just let loose on her own, yknow? 🥺

*-The summer camp aesthetic was a fun change of scenery for the story here, and I liked the designs for characters like the blue demon client at the start, alongside Millie & Moxxie's human disguises ("Moxxine" & "Millard"), they were cute~ :3

*-While Blitz didn't play too big of a role here in the long run, his gentle coaxing to his sister Barbie Wire at the end to try and amend things was rather touching to see (not really seeming to mind her pronouncing the "O" in his name either, unlike with other characters)… even if ultimately tragic given her rejection at the end :(. I really hope we get more insight of their family background later, 'cause there's alot of story potential for Blitz to try and face the "shadows" of his past (outside of just general exes-drama), in a meaningful character building way imo 👍

*-Not quiiiite as strong on the humor aspect (which I'll get into in a sec-), but I'll admit there's still some good chuckle-worthy moments like the "kid-stuck-in-a-crater" gag, along with this one still-shot during the Blitz & Moxxie VS Barbie fight lol

*-Nice to see a return of those Asmodean crystals, ever since their cameo in "The Circus" I've always been curious to see them in-action given their role as another portal-making item :o the crystalline-looking portals made from them look so pretty too~

As far as the Negatives of this ep are concerned? …Ehhhh-

*-As much as I enjoyed the M&M spotlight… I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the execution a bit… "clunky" at certain points ^^; Mainly on Moxxie's end 'cause… oof did he feel rather cringey at times, getting randomly hung up about some camp kids not liking him over Millie? :| Like… okay sure, its one thing to criticize her not prioritizing the "investigation" mystery as seriously as she should've… but I mean, you're basically doing the same thing trying to win over everyone as this ditzy teen girl, Moxx so like… who are you to talk? :/ Thankfully he got over that by the end and made things right by his wife but still… smh, dude >>

*-For a character as hyped up as Barbie Wire's been by the fandom since the pilot… I'm surprised that her first-ever reveal is only in the last few minutes of a B-plot? .-. Like… this is the long-lost sister of our main character, mind you, and her presence alone through that one photo in "Ozzie's" was enough to shake up Blitz to the core… so, why wasn't she given more of a major story to come back into her brother's life? 🤷‍♀️ I don't even mind that she's not interested in making amends with him atm (esp. with his stalkerish behavior here I can't really blame her tbh, as much as I love the guy- ^^;), but still…more additional context in-general could've helped make her debut a lil more interesting imo (same with Stella's brother Andrealphus).

*-Humor wise… ehhhhh yeah, some of it didn't really sit right with me tbh :/ Like, okay I get HB's always been a rather "raunchy" show since its inception, and I'm all for some clever adult humor when done right…

…But I mean, did we really need bits like M&M pretending to be "siblings" while disguised (when… idk why they couldn't have just pretended to be a regular teen couple tbh? .-.), only to then having that big "steamy" moment in front of a crowd of campers…? :| Idk, humor IS subjective at the end of the day so, I guess your mileage may vary on some of these joke executions… 🤷‍♀️

*-Pacing felt a bit imbalanced (again), with moments like the big ending fight scene feeling rather… "stiff", in some parts? : o Idk, probably could've benefitted from adding in a few more minutes or something to make it flow a lil better .3.

*-Fun as it was seeing Millie getting her own song for a change (that's not just another love duet with Moxxie)… idk, it admittedly wasn't the most memorable compared to some previous HB songs (minus the lil lyrics popping underneath like a cheesy music video, that was funny lol) 🤷‍♀️That and Moxxie's own "solo" attempt at the campfire scene was… again, cringey (though I think that was the point lol) :P.

…Aaaaand yeah, that about covers my initial first impression thoughts of the ep! If I had to give my own rating again… prooobably somewhere around a C-rank? Again, I still enjoyed the M&M (+mainly Millie's) spotlight overall, but with the rushed-over Barbie Wire addition & some of the cringier humor bits… Iiii just don't know if I'd consider it among my fave eps anytime soon, imho ^^;

Ok so, about Heart of the Lycan King, right?

-protagonist and her pack are explicitly African which is cool!

-that's about where the pleasantries end. Her parents died when protagonist Natasha was 14 and she became a slave. Now 20, her Alpha and mate Mateo keeps their matehood a secret and makes Natasha strip naked and watch as he has sex with his girlfriend Camilla (appropriate name lmao) and this disgusting absolutely rancid fucking dickhead even forces Natasha to strip naked and watch and also suck him off after he's slept with Camilla and he even walks up and just blatantly pinches and twists her nipples for no reason until they're basically bruised (OUCH!!! KILL HIM!!!)

-Natasha has a naturally thick body so everyone calls her fat. She was naked and Camilla makes a comment that "maybe her tits are so saggy because someone is sucking on them" and Mateo literally drags still naked Natasha into the dining room where the pack is still eating and asks if anyone has touched her and they all call her fat and saggy and make fun of her, and then some fucking beta male parrots a rumor that Natasha sucks people off and Mateo is like visibly fucking jealous and furious? Over a rumor? And he even asks the guy "who" and the guy says "idk" and even when Natasha says "if I was sleeping wirh someone you would feel the pain I feel through the mate bond when you sleep with Camilla" (get his ass) and that kind of calms him down but he's STILL mad?

-the real reason Natasha is treated like shit besides being an Omega and an orphan is that her wolf is brown and white and there are myths that two toned wolves bring rhe destruction of whatever pack they're in so. They harass her over folktales

-there are werewolves AND lycans with the lycans being stronger which is usually the case in these stories. The lycans are slowly dying out because they don't have enough females and they usually die in childbirth so the lycans take unmated female werewolves every 3 years but most of them die too

- before they meet officially, we are introduced to the male lead a la switching to his POV. He's the current Lycan King named Aiden and he's a green flag so far, talking about how he yearns to find his mate to have a bond and that special love and affection, like he even says maybe he should visit human settlements to see if his mate is there, he doesn't care WHAT his mate it, he just wants to meet them and love them 🥺 meanwhile Natasha just got caught stealing money from Mateo's room to escape gnfjfkfkf AIDEN RESCUE HER SOON. Also he's a professional soccer player!

-Natasha is described as being a slightly darker skin tone than most of her pack, but then Aiden and Natasha are described as being the same skin tone which I like, almost all of these stories have exclusively white characters or white love interests. Tbh I expected him to be white hearing his name was Aiden so, some good rep in this story!

-Aiden walks in on Natasha mopping (thankfully, Aidens arrival kept Natasha from getting brutalized for being caught stealing since they need Natasha to help clean before the king gets there) while Camilla and Mateo berate her and Mateo almost hit Natasha right in front of the king before he noticed who else was in the room. Aiden is INSTANTLY incensed that this pack hits women even as he cannot tell Natasha is his mate yet. We Stan a king 🤴

-UH OH SISTERS WE GOT A TROPE REVERSAL! Aiden, walking up to Natasha, slips in one of the puddles of water, quote "making some weird sounds as i try to steady myself, flailing my arms, positive im about to kiss the floor" (DWEEB lmao) when Natasha catches him from falling (and it's emphasized her hands are rough and calloused from years of work)

-THEY BOTH FALL AND SLIP N SLIDE ACROSS THE FLOOR TOGETHER AND HE HUGS HER SO SHE DOESN'T HIT HER HEAD 🥺

-it's touching and meeting her eyes for the first time that finally jolts the mate bond. Hearing him describe the mate bond is such a huge green flag all around. "It's like I've been asleep all this time and I just woke up, experiencing the greatest joy I've ever felt in my life" like he loves the bond and he loves her so much and he doesn't know her name. I know sometimes the mate bonds can be creepy but there's also something so pure about the love you know 🥺 when everything goes right anyways

-"I knew that I would absolutely die for this woman. In seconds, this woman became essential to my entire being. I was existing but I wasn't alive, now im living, finally I'm whole" 😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️ and then he notices she's crying in fear and she has bruises and instantly asks who did it to her. NOW KILL HER PACK BRO DO IT DO IT DO IT--

-BRUH no hate but the female narrator, the voice she uses for Aidens wolf, Leo, way too deep, she just sounds like she's about to try and make the Grudge a-a-a-a broken neck sound. Listening to Leo speak is literally cracking me tf up

-Dumbass fucking Camilla steps forward, "oh your eminence, she's just so clumsy :) she trips and falls all the time, isn't that right Natasha" and Aiden lets Natasha walk away as he vows he's going to find out what's going on and take her away

-yall uh Natashas wolf is actually fucking useless. Natasha herself says her wolf barely ever even speaks to her and Natasha is like "do you think we can trust him as our mate" and this depressed fucking mutt deadass responds "no one has ever loved us and no one ever will" YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE HER FRIEND AND PROTECTOR? Honestly Natasha is a better person than me bc I would've started hating this wolf already. Its your fault Natasha gets treated like this you cowardly fucking oreo

-Aiden starts calling her '"Nala" which is Swahili for present/gift because "you are my gift, my everything"

-maaaaan so usually you guys know depending on the circumstances that I'm not a real big fan of the removal of consent in some of these stories but we got a green flag kidnapper right here. Aiden is outside with Natasha about to take her away and she's like "can't you just reject me here? You don't have to take me somewhere" and starts TELLING HIM "no you don't want me, I'm cursed, I am not worthy of love" and Aiden is just like "ok well, im really sorry but you're really not going to like this" and just. Scoops her up and prepares to kidnap her (GOOD) but they keep talking and she agrees to give him a chance (but he can tell she doesn't trust him and has some kind of plan and is probably going to run away when his backbis turned)

-Aiden is about to drive off with Natasha when Mateo, fucking cuck runs up "actually I lied, Natasha is still my mate, I didn't reject her" you absolute fucking liar. This absolute fucking moron has the gall to tell Aiden to his face "I already have a woman as my Luna but I didn't reject Natasha so she could have a place to stay, a cursed wolf isn't good enough for you, you dont deserve that BITCH" TRANSITION INTO AN INSTANT ASS BEATING

-except Natasha is too much of a good woman and saves Mateo from getting hurt before Aiden hurts him that badly :/ gdi girl. He's literally been sexually assaulting and beating you. Idiot. Idiot. Absolute idiot. Nevermind, Mateo is correct Aiden IS too good for her. This dumb bitch actually starts up this "you're just the same as them, solving things with violence. This is MY fight" like obviously no it is not, you literally had a perfect escape plan put right in front of your face coupled with the opportunity to teach your abusers a lesson and you went "🥺 no I can't trust anyone I'll just flee into the night with no food or money or place to go" like obviously you were never intending to fight anything you were just going to run. Like I'm actually getting fucking furious she has the gall to talk to Aiden like this when she's literally been paraded around naked

➳ lucifer is understanding. it was presumptuous of him to assume you felt the same way, especially since you had never really given him and signs you reciprocated his feelings. he takes a little time to himself and then comes back like nothing happened, making sure you felt okay about the whole situation and knew there were no hard feelings. it’s a little difficult, but as time passes it becomes easier and easier to put it all behind him, the situation turning into a distant memory that’s reflected on as something to learn from rather than a horrible ordeal.

➳ mammon is determined not to let the failed confession ruin your friendship and close camaraderie, so he allows himself not to linger, makes sure he deals with all of his emotions in a healthy way. soon, the two of you are back to normal, back to causing trouble and mischief, though this time mammon’s not held back by his romantic feelings, which allows him to express himself in ways he couldn't before. the situation turns into a funny memory, something to laugh about and bring up in group situations. he still loves you, of course, just not that way, and that’s okay.

➳ levi is still held back by his sin, but thankfully is able to work through his feelings, talking to someone about the whole situation and using healthy anime relationships and rejections as an example. he doesn’t force his feelings to go away, but he doesn't resent you for not returning his affections, instead reminding himself that feelings are feelings and that you couldn't control who you did or didn’t fall for. it’s hard, but he tries, and you see that effort, doing your own part to make it easier on him as well, reminding him that one rejection doesn’t determine his character nor mean he’s unloveable.

➳ satan pretty much expects it, but for once had figured he should shoot his shot without caring about the probable consequences. he accepts the rejection gracefully, understanding your reasons for not loving him like he loved you. it’s a bittersweet conversation, and the two of you end up hugging once it's done, the warmth of your arms still comforting as ever, though this time butterflies don’t erupt in his stomach like they have before. he still thinks of you fondly, but not like that, and he’s grateful to see nothing really changes between the two of you.

➳ asmo takes it pretty hard, but he’s determined to come back from the rejection better than ever. you were his first real love, and he knows he’ll have more opportunities to form stronger romantic bonds in the future. he spends time watching trashy movies and eating ice cream, but finds companionship in satan and solomon, oddly making a great trio and becoming thick as thieves. he’s glad you’re still willing to hang out with him and be physically close, though now it feels more like the two of you are the bestest of friends rather than potential love interests.

➳ beel genuinely doesn't have any hard feelings. he knows feelings are feelings and is more worried he put you in an uncomfortable position by confessing. once assured nothing like that was going on, it’s easy for him to dismiss the feelings and move on like they were never there. you two just go back to how it was before, quickly falling into that same comfortable groove. he really likes being friends with you and wonders if it's almost better than being in a relationship would be, as he thinks the bond you have is special enough already and doesn’t need love like that to stay strong.

➳ belphie is a little bitter, but beel helps him work through his feelings better than he would be able to alone. he gets advice from barbatos and simeon on how to proceed appropriately, and while it’s a little awkward in the beginning, eventually his determination makes your relationship go back to how it was, easy and natural. he's relieved, and so are you, as you both had missed just chilling together and being each other's safe spaces. he knows the two of you will always share a connection, but maybe not a romantic one like he was thinking. and that’s something he can live with.

2) How easy is it for your character to laugh?

Not very easily. Unless she actually likes you, then she’ll laugh at your jokes, no matter how unfunny, because she thinks that’s what a good friend or partner does. Charlie is also one of those annoying people who laughs at her own jokes. Homegirl thinks she’s a lot funnier than she actually is.

9) Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?

Absolutely! But she doesn’t swear every other word, just when it’s definitely needed to hammer home a point. Or when she just does something small like, stub her toe or bump into someone. She doesn’t remember her first swear word, but it was probably something small like “hell” or “damn”.

13) What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?

Charlie either likes light colors, like a mint green or a peach or darker colors like black and dark blue. She definitely looks good in black and green since it goes well with her eyes. Pinks aren’t the best look for her, but she manages to pull it off somehow.

31) Who are they the most glad to have met? 

This is a tricky one. Charlie would probably want to list a couple of different people. Sadie, despite being blood. She’s so grateful to have been born into the same family as her. She’s never had anyone in her life that she’s been that close to and she cherishes their connection. It’s a once in a lifetime type of bond.

Charlie is also grateful to met John, even though she would never say it out loud. He showed her that there are people who won’t run or abandon you when you show your true self to them. He also showed her how to love fearlessly. Her entire life changed for, what she believes to be, the better when she met him. But, again, she would never admit to it.

36) Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?

After Charlie’s divorce she stopped actively looking for a relationship for fear of being treated so badly again. She would go out on dates if someone actively perused her, but she was never the one to chase them. Which is sad for her because my girl loves the chase. This is hard for her when she starts to have feelings for John since he forces her to come to him, he wouldn’t actively go after her until she openly showed she wanted him as well.

41) How do they feel about children? 

Charlie loves them! She’s always wanted to be a mother, she just never really thought she would get the opportunity. Thankfully, she gets the chance, even if it didn’t come in the situation she thought it would.
