okay i'm giggling about this 😭

he definitely made the first move. so, here's a (very) small breakdown of our Lore: we were betrothed very early on thanks to our parents. each of our families had really always used us as pawns for their own gain, and that included our engagement. i hated his family especially. our lives didn't feel like our own, and neither did our love. it all made me especially bitter and distant from everyone, and especially hans... i didn't want to take it out him, but i did sometimes (particularly when the topic of marriage came up and of course this was during adolescence when i didn't know better and no one ever taught me otherwise). despite that, we always loved each other. we were always close. we weren't that close with anyone else

as we got older, sometimes he would try to put the moves on me, especially when he had an excuse, like at a ball or some other event. 🥴 he'd move my hair aside gently or kiss my cheek (conveniently closer to my lips each time...) or bring me gifts. i tried so hard not to fall for it... but how can i RESIST

so, in conclusion, despite all my efforts to deny that i really wanted him to, he made the first official move. of his own volition 👉👈

he lives on the beach in a coastal kingdom, so i'm assuming something with fish on it. smørrebrød with smoked salmon is popular in denmark, so that's what i'm leaning toward (or some kind of 19th c. equivalent)

Maeve actually really looks forward to when Dez helps her wash her hair. He's the first person outside of her immediate family she's let touch her hair (she's got a lot of trust issues and her hair is vvvv important to her <3). But he's always so sweet and gentle with her and her favourite part is when he does some new hairstyle when they're finished and then they go out to the market to have dinner.

Tehi actually LOOOOVES Dez. Tehi is Maeve's bat friend who usually hates anyone who is close to Maeve because she's a jealous lil freak who is very protective. But Dez won her over surprisingly easily. Maybe him having all sorts of animals helped (even if Baby became Tehi's #1 mortal enemy for a time do to an incident) but she LOVES him lol. She chirps happily and likes to sleep in his hair

To piggyback off Dez picking her up (and vice versa <3 <3 <3) he'll just do it...randomly. She's bent over picking something up? Scoop! Talking with someone (who is likely in on it)? Scoop! They made a game out of it when she started doing it back. She secretly loves being carried around.

Maeve makes all of Dez's animals little clothes. Baby has four sweaters and two pairs of shoes that they put on her when they go for walks on hot days. His ducks all have little flower and strawberry hats. When shes pregnant she's sewing up a storm with baby clothes. Dez proudly wears her embroidery work on his shirt collars.
