BJ is a honey mustard man

Henry likes thousand island dressing

Mulcahy always uses Caesar and it's unclear if he actually likes the taste or just wants an opportunity to make his "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" pun

Klinger just uses delicious Lebanese condiments like tahini or olive oil and lemon juice but he's not obnoxious about it

Where you're overworking yourself to earn a spot in the starting eleven

You hadn't realised how late it had gotten until the floodlights surrounding the pitch turned on engulfing the field with bright lights. “Shit.” You mutter under your breath, and start packing your stuff immediately.

While Leah had been out on injury you had started almost every game, but ever since she had made her comeback, you were back to starting out on the bench. Of course, you were overjoyed for Leah to be back from the horrible injury she suffered from, but you couldn't help the sinking feeling in your chest every time after that your name was no longer amongst the starting eleven.

That is why you had been training more and more outside of your regular team training sessions. Running drill after drill, to perfect your form, and build your stamina. You were doing everything in your power to better yourself. Anything to give you a leg up, and to prove to your coaches that you deserved a starting position.

“You were out late again.” Lotte's voice comes from the kitchen. You can’t quite place her tone, so you drop your bag in the hallway and rush into the kitchen to apologise to her. “Love, I am so sorry, I totally lost track of time. I didn't mean to stay out so late.” 

Lotte stops your rambling by placing her hands on your shoulders. “Baby, relax, it's fine.” She brings you in for a hug and you relax into her arms. “How about you go take a shower, and I'll have dinner ready once you're done?” You thank her with a kiss, before quickly making your way to the bathroom, not wanting to delay dinner even longer.

Your girlfriend knew how you were feeling and tried her best to support you in everything. She even trained with you some of the days you were training extra. Recently she had gone through a similar situation with her national team. After years of hard work she finally earned herself a starting position with the Lionesses. You had been so proud of her, she deserved that spot on the field, and that wasn't just you being biassed. She was an amazing defender, one you would add to your team any time someone asked you to build a team.

The quick shower did you good. You got dressed in a pair of sweats and a hoodie from Lotte. When you head downstairs, you’re immediately met with the most amazing smell coming from the kitchen. “Oh love, you’ve outdone yourself. It smells incredible.” You peck her shoulder a couple times as you hug her from the back while she’s washing up the dishes and utensils that she used. 

The soft moment between the two of you gets interrupted by the loud ringing of your phone. You take the device out of your pocket and see Jonas’s name on the screen. “It’s Jonas, I’ve got to take this really quickly.” Lotte nods, “Take your time, love, dinner needs another 10 minutes anyways.”

“Hi Jonas, I'm alright, thank you. How are you?” For the rest of the conversations Lotte hears you hum and say okay a couple of times, but it's still unclear to her what the call was about. “Alright, thank you. I will let you know tonight.”

You slowly pocket your phone again. With furrowed brows you turn back to Lotte, you were trying to process the offer that Jonas just gave you by speaking your thoughts out loud. “He just asked me if I wanted to play in midfield while Lia is out, and Kyra can't play for a couple games.”

Lotte nods, “And what do you think?” she asks, careful not to assume your feelings. “I don't know Lot. I'm a defender. I've been training my whole life to be a defender, how am I supposed to prove myself if I don't even get to play in my own position.” 

Lotte reaches out and takes your hand in hers. “Sometimes, opportunities come in unexpected forms. You are an amazing footballer, and I don't think that is limited to defending. You're always moving forwards on the pitch, trying to work the flanks. I think you spend more time in the midfield than you think already. I would say embrace the opportunity and show them what you can do in that position. Make the position your own, and show them that having you in that position is something the team needs.”

You took a step towards Lotte, who instantly wrapped her arms around you. “You always know what to say, and you're so good with your words. What did I do to deserve you?” Your girlfriend chuckles lightly, “You didn't have to do anything but be yourself, and I try.” She keeps holding you until the oven dings, letting you know that dinner is ready. She kisses your forehead before stepping away to get the lasagne she made out of the oven. 

“Alright, eat up cause you’ve been training hard.” She puts some of the lasagne on your plate and you dig in instantly. “And a good cook, I’ve managed to get the whole package.” Lotte rolls her eyes jokingly. “It tastes amazing, baby, thank you for dinner.” While you loved a good joke, you would always show Lotte appreciation for the things that she did for you.

After dinner you called Jonas back, letting him know that you’d fill the spot in midfield. Lotte had convinced you that you should embrace the opportunity with both hands. You were determined to prove that you were more than just a defender. That you could be the versatile player to help the team. That you would be the difference that the team needed.

A couple months later, Lia was fully back from injury, and Kyra had been playing for a while again. You had been working hard, and actually finding the new position rather exciting. 

You had sat down with Jonas and Kim, talking about your future at Arsenal. Kim was very pleased with the way you had stepped up, and wanted to discuss the option of you being a part of the midfield squad moving forwards. 

After your meeting with them ended, you rushed to find Lotte. “How did the meeting go?” She asked the moment she saw you. “So... I’m going to be a regular starting midfielder!” Lotte’s face lit up at your words. What you had been working so hard towards was finally becoming a reality. 

She steps towards you and wraps her arms around you, lifting you in the air. “I am so proud of you. All your hard work led you to this moment, baby. You did it!”

On The Moon There Are No Ghosts

Since you said dealer’s choice, River, I’m going to take this opportunity to talk about one of my very favorite of my own fics (humble, I know). I’m pretty proud of this one, which is honestly a rarity for me, normally I just...nitpick to death. But I was very happy with this, for a few reasons. 

First, I really feel like I got Martin’s voice here, which I always find challenging. You wouldn’t think it from how much I write him, but while Martin is probably my favorite character to write about, I don’t naturally get his voice. This one felt like it really flowed for me, though, so I was happy about that.

Second, like I said, I LOVE WRITING ABOUT MARTIN. Especially Martin’s sad, awful childhood and how it’s mirrored in the man he is today. And what better way to do that than to literally send him back to his childhood home, having to deal with all the relatives he hasn’t seen in years, and saying goodbye to the mother he’s had such a difficult relationship with since he was a kid? It’s like Martin angst paradise. I’m honestly surprised there aren't a lot more fics specifically about Martin’s mum’s funeral, because damn, death and grief are such rich topics. And like Peter says in this fic, you can really get to know people when they’re grieving. 

Third, I was so delighted to find a good opportunitu to work in some We Have Always Lived In The Castle references. I love that book, and with the protagonist’s last name being Blackwood I’ve wanted to write something about it related to Martin for ages. The book has strong themes of grief and guilt and isolation, which is pretty perfect for this point in Martin’s life. The title is a reference to Merricat’s recurring fantasy throughout the book of going with her sister to live on the moon, where they would have everything they want and nobody would ever bother them. 

And that’s kind of what Martin wants here, when he’s overwhelmed with confused emotion about his mother, and the intrusive presence of a family he barely knows, and all the responsibilities of organizing a funeral. And it’s exactly the lever Peter pulls to get closer to him. Not that Martin is naive or taken advantage of, he knows exactly what he’s getting into with Peter. He wants something simple and enjoyable to take his mind off things, and Peter is definitely a Good Time. Unfortunately things are never quite so simple with a fear avatar, and Martin gets a little more nastiness than he bargained for. 

Speaking of family, I was originally going to have his mum’s funeral be tiny, only a handful of neighbors and acquaintances. But then it occurred to me that it could be even more horrible for Martin if the funeral is packed with family and friends, all this social support his mum had, at least at some point in her life, and that he never had through his lonely, neglected childhood. That they all reminisce so kindly about her is an added pain, when all his memories are tainted with anger and resentment. 

I also really liked the idea of sending Martin home to a place that hasn’t changed, except it’s missing all the little touches that make it a home. His mother’s nursing home at the beginning was more of a home to her at the end, with all her belongings and personality. And his childhood home is cold and empty, his bedroom still the way he left it when he was seventeen, down to the poetry magazines under the bed from when he wanted to study literature. Martin’s whole childhood is sort of summed up to me with this line: 

“That’s just what happens. Things get broken or damaged, and you get used to them, and after a while it’s like they’ve always been that way.”

Because abuse gets normalized, neglect gets normalized, the way a broken clock or a cracked ceiling does. Eventually it just becomes background. Normal. Have I mentioned that I’m sad about Martin Blackwood?

And of course what would this story be without a monster? I also LOVE WRITING ABOUT PETER LUKAS, although I have yet to write anything from his perspective, funnily. He is just hilarious and inappropriate and manipulative and sometimes downright mean, but in a way where you always have to ask yourself “did he really mean that?”. He’s been interested in Martin since he first met him, and he wants to extend Martin an offer to join the Lonely, that’s canon baby! Martin at his own mother’s funeral would have to be catnip to the old sea bastard. He thoroughly enjoys making Martin uncomfortable by getting into his personal space, and then making him a little more uncomfortable by inviting judgment from his family, and then taking the opportunity to proposition him while he’s in a “fuck it” mood. Peter is the purple gorilla in this story, big and brash and impossible to ignore, although in this case acknowledging him doesn’t make Martin feel any better. 

I haven’t even mentioned anything here about EVERYTHING THAT ISN’T MENTIONED IN THIS STORY. Like the fact that Tim’s dead and the Archives are under siege and Jon’s in a coma. I very deliberately didn’t have Martin think about Jon at any point in the fic, because I didn’t want this to be a Martin pining over Jon fic (for once!), I wanted it to be about him. And also I thought that this was the time when he would very definitely and carefully not be thinking about Jon. It’s as much as he can do to just get through this, y’know? If he thinks about Jon as well he’d probably just break down. I kind of went back to that in Felt So Like Fear, where Martin goes to see Jon in the hospital and tells him his mum died, and it’s saying it to Jon, even though he can’t hear him, that makes it feel real. 

Anyhow I think that’s more than enough rambling. You might be able to tell I really enjoyed writing this fic and it might be my favorite thing I’ve written. I am aware that Peter/Martin is a NOTP for a lot of folks, but if you like or even just don’t mind it, this is probably the fic of mine I would recommend most.

Hhhh bunni legs pain accomplishment day

I HAVE FINISHED THE SHOPPING OF HELL

Tfw u only get paid 4 days before christmas and have to rush everything aaaa

It was bad enough today so i'm so glad i got it done before it got even more busy!

Misc boring essentials i bought for myself: new phone charger cos broken, new trousers cos i spilt hair bleach on my only two pairs, new shoes cos my left shoe literally snapped in half down the middle like wtf even happened there, cheap pink hair dye from a discount store cos i wanna try different colours but in a thrifty way

Now for EXCITING CHRISTMAS PRESENT TIME!!!!

First off SO MANY pc and xbox 360 games from Every Charity Shop In Cardiff, St Mellons, Rumney and Llanrumney. My sis has been trying to find some games to play but was like 'dont worry about it i can just wait til the charity shop gets something good'. So i thought i'd get some stocking stuffers via all the charity shops on my side of town. By our powers combined we will blitz the entire vale of glamorgan's discount gaming scene!!! I found SO MANY good stuff for £1/£2/£3 like holy shit i love when charity shops dont know the proper price for shit XD

speaking of which i also found a WEBCAM for £2! If its that cheap it probanly isnt great but itd still be fun to play around with! :D and the same store also had an old vintage G1 My Little Pony coffee mug in excellent condition. Oh god the nostalgia! My support worker gave me a lift to llanrumney so i had to awkwardly explain why i had an armful of weird 80s mugs and big teary eyes!

Speaking of vintage, i found this new vintage toys and games shop in cardiff called Galactic Attic! The name hooked me in and then they actually DID have pokemon inside! As well as all sorts of stuff ranging from 40s to 90s, wow! There was even a lil pile of old 90s gaming magazines in the corner, covered up by a bunch of boxes. I'm glad i noticed them! I got the announcemt issues for pokemon diamond pearl and platinum in a weird old pokemon fan magazine that i loved as a kid. Im kinda sad that nowadays we just have one official magazine fpr each console and not the wild madness of amateaur journalists failing horribly to get news from japan. Shame they didnt have Beckett Pokemon cos that one was infamous fot drawing its own terrible interpretations of pokemon sprites to avoid copyright. And speaking of terrible, they even had bootleg pokemon!! I talked to the cashier and he was like "you know those are fake right" and i was like "yeah its so nostalgic thats why i want em" and he was like "lol yeah they actually sell pretty well so i'm not mad my supplier ripped me off". It was a pretty good and awesomely terrible fake at the same time? There was this exact replica of some japanese display stand for the product and then the actual pokeball toys looked perfect BUT the mini pokemon inside were.. Really not. I am so damn happy with the surprise inside my one, surprise inside has never been more accurate! I can't take a picture now cos my phone is charging but REGICHEETO. Just..just imagine that, and whatever you're imagining it is probably worse. I love it so fuckin much. Also less hilariously there were some bootleg mini pika plushies with actually (as far as i can tell) their own unique design? They have cute lil winter scarves and an art style that reminds me of the Magical Pokemon Adventure manga. A really cute and good bootleg that i would have loved to see as a real product! The only way you can even tell its a bootleg is because there's no marking on the tail. I dunno, maybe if i still have some brown fabric in the cupboard i could fix it? Along the miscness of finding a few things for myself, i also found: cute lil pokemon pencilcase, kingdom hearts blind bag, cheap copy of Fruits Basket volume 1 cos the new remake is coming out soon and i wanna Get Hype! The KH blind bag was really weird cos i didnt know they now have an entirely different set as well as the keychains i bought before. Its kind of a shame the art style doesnt match cos vexen is only in the keychains, alas! But i do really love these ones! Theyre apparantly made by funko pop but dont have the art style AT ALL, they just look like really accurate versions of the characters in mini form. Its kinda like the 'distance animation' style in steven universe? (Incidentally they also do SU ones but they missed the opportunitu to actually use the distance style, lol) I got a Sora in his kh2 outfit and i'm decently happy with that, its not one i really wanted but its not a bad one either. But i think now i've tried the fun of surprise once i'll just buy the actual ones i want off ebay later. They have roxas in his organization outfit! With a happy smile!!!

Oh oh and then EVEN MORE XBOX GAMES OF THE WILD THRIFT STORE VOID! i managed to find the whole fable series, two assassins creeds, saints row, gta, some misc shooter games and racers that she wanted but i dont know much about, mass effect 2 and ff13. I think maybe one or two others cos i cant fully remember right now. Theyre all in separate bags strewn across the room and my shoulders feel like death so i'll sort through them later.

* had a lovely time visiting Cool Shop Grandma and rambled the story of how i met her and how we became friends but hhh too tired to rewrite. But anyway today i gave her a christmas pikachu plush as thanks for everything and cos her shop is moving on to its next location soon. She got really teary and gave me a big hug! She's gonna be at a comic con in march so i hope i'm able to go to that and see her again.

* went on a wild goose chase looking for harry potter merchandise and eventually found a gold plated replica of the movie prop version of the time turner and HELL YES my sis will love it!

* rambled about several market stalls that were cool but i can make a separate post about that in the morning when i find their contact details to advertise them

* got a plushie delibird and decided to take selfies with it everywhere to try and fight my social anxiety somehow. We went to a neat lil restaurant and had cheesy fries and a coke float!

* asked for a refund on an item for the first time ever and im proud of myself

* went off on a mystery bus trip to buy a preowned 3ds and pokemon games from a lady in an online preowned stuff facebook group and it didnt go horribly and i am glad! She was really nice and i witnessed A Good And Smart Parenting Moment and man it healed my heart and i wish i'd been raised that way. Again i'll probably ramble about the details later when im less tired, it really touched my heart seriously! And now i have MANY GIFTS FOR SIS!

* in total i was out present shopping from 9am to 8pm and i clicked my shoulder out of its socket for a split second from.all the heavy bags. Now im in a lot of aches and i need a sleeps

gonna go in detail below :)

the tldr is that it is worth it if your beliefs on child raising are flexible and you do well on the floor for long periods of time and voicing dolls and plushies and lego figurines and cars

first of all, it all depends on the family.

if the family you go to is good (communicate their needs and stick to them, care about their child but trust you with them, have set rules you can adapt to and not have to try guessing what the child should and shouldnt do, pay on time, etc), all is good. my family (the one i babysit for) started off with not trusting me with the kid further than the playground, but ended up agreeing for me to take the kid to the aquarium in less than a week and the kid still talks about our trip to this day. they start of each day i spend with the kid with telling me about him and how the day should go (whether he slept well, ate well, we should go to the bakery or the mall to get certain things...) they always ask what i want for food when i have to stay over for lunch or dinner. they pay on time. they thought what i asked for was too little so they upped my wage and even overpay sometimes (i get 4.35$/hour, or 5.8$/hour when im over for 2 hours or less. might seem cheap but im european our currency is weak as fuck). they have an older child that i get along with well. they got me a christmas present.

the other family i babysit for went ''i know youre good with kids here's the child for a whole day 8-4 thanks bye'' and left me to fend for us. i did it, but honestly changing nappies should cost an extra 3 dollars at least. there i am not expected to leave the house with the kid, i only need to play with him, feed him at noon, put him down for a nap and change nappies according to poop. i have the same wages but they overpay at every possible opportunitu because they have known me for years.

then it depends on the kid.

kids are mean little creatures but they have such an open mind most of the time. it really depends on how old your kid is, boy or girl, their interests. my kid was really into vikings and knights and swords when i started with him. now he's into paw patrol and lego ninjago and cops and fighting. so he is kind of a tough kid. but he refuses to play on the playground if im not playing with him, he holds my hand (most of the time anyway) when we walk, he gets cuddly when we read his books. he gets upset, throws fits, yells around when something doesnt go his way, but at the end of the day he cries for me to not leave yet because we havent even played with his new lego set yet!!!

the other kid is younger, doesnt talk yet. all he needs is someone in the room with him as he plays, draws, etc.

i guess if your kid ends up being older, 7-8 or so thats a whole new world, i have no idea what those kids need lol

overall i have tried to quit for school reasons 4 times but i never got even close to telling the family because the child looked at me in a way or told me something and i didnt have the heart to quit on him anymore lol i think that says everything

The Seven Princes of Pop

Okay, so as you can see this article is not going to be metal related. But as a music journalist and just a fan of the band, I want to tell their story. Once upon a time there were seven talented and aesthetically pleasing princes. Kim Namjoon (age 24), Kim Seok-jin (age 26), Min Yoon-gi (age 25), Jung Hoseok (age 24), Park Jimin (age 23), Kim Taehyung (age 22), and Jeon Jungkook (age 21). In 2012 the obscure and unknown South Korean record label Big Hit Entertainment struck gold when they signed the boys to a seven year contract. The name of the group (in case you’ve been living under a rock) is BTS (방탄소년단) an acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan or Beyond the Scene. Bangtan Sonyeondan is translated to mean Bulletproof Boyscouts. BTS or The Bangtan Boys debuted on June 13th, 2013 with the song ‘No More Dream’ the lead track on the album ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’. They have been popular in their home country of Korea but it wasn’t until 2017 when the group won the Billboard Award for Top Social Artist that they broke out in America in a BIG way. That was when they started their world domination. After winning the award, and getting such a huge positive response at the award show itself, people were frantic to know who these handsome boys were. With tweets after the show searching for names (especially for the boy in the silver jacket). This was the first time a K-pop artist or group took home the billboard award, and it was well deserved. Up until that point the boys had worked so hard putting out album after album and song after song, and each one was a hit. Before long they were on every late night show and daytime talk show. BTS became a household name, and because of their influence on the American audience, they’ve opened doors and given opportunitues to other K-pop groups like Blackpink who recently had a colloaboration with Dua Lipa. Their Love Yourself world tour started on August 25th, in Seoul, Korea and the masses flocked to each venue as they made their way around the world. Their message of peace, unity, and self-love has not gone unnoticed. They teamed up with Unicef and created the ‘Love Myself’ Campaign to end violence against children and teens. They were invited to speak at the United Nations and group leader Kim Namjoon delivered a powerful speech:

     “I want to hear your voice... No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself.” - Kim Namjoon

Not only are these young men talented, they spread a message that can reach everyone, not just our youth. A message that I believe in whole heartedly and would like to promote. The full length movie based on the YouTube series Burn The Stage is coming out in theatres soon and I’ll definitely be there. I was blessed enough to see them when they came to Fort Worth, and their live performance left me speechless... and I always have a lot to say. All I could do was scream and fanchant with the other ARMY’s. ARMY is an acronym for Adorable Representative MC for Youth, and that’s the name of their fanbase, which I’m proud to say I’m a part of. I want to end this article by saying how much respect I have for these men and all the good their doing through their music, which is what I’m all about. Thankfully they renewed their seven year contract so we have so much to look forward to from this group. So thank you BTS and keep going, we’ll always support you.
