Coach Ukai grabs the team’s attention, and from then on leads a rotation of digging drills to help improve everyone’s foundational abilities. This format of training continues for most of practice, such routines making it easier for some of the boys (namely Tsukishima) to laugh about Hinata’s “attempt'' at having a girlfriend in line. Said middle blocker remains in a pouty mood due to such circumstances, but decides to keep it quiet for the time being - lest he dig a bigger hole in which his teammates could tease him.

Soon enough, practice for the day is over, and the Karasuno boys organize their things in the club room before filtering outside. When you finally manage to close in on the team, Sugawara is the first to notice you, observing for a moment before nudging Daichi on his right. The Karasuno captain looks confusedly at his vice captain, the latter’s eyes holding a parent-like intuition.

“I think that’s her,” the silver haired third year murmurs, nodding his head in your direction as you make your way closer.

“Who’s her?” Daichi whispers back, and Suga looks like he’s about to karate chop him in the side.

“Hinata’s girlfriend, Dai!” he hisses. “Look at who she’s focused on.”

Daichi follows your gaze to find the little decoy first year at the end of it, causing him to raise an eyebrow in surprise. “So he really wasn’t pulling Kageyama’s leg.”

The two third years of Karasuno watch you with great interest as you inch your way to the front of their group, more of the boys taking note of your presence with the passing moments.

The only few who don’t seem to notice are the gaggle of first years in the front, many of whom are bickering with each other. Yachi is the only one in your grade to see you as she walks beside Kiyoko, and you give her a small wave before putting a finger to your lips. THE STORY LMAOO, so A DIFFERENT FRIEND LOL, like my oldest bff, we had a day together and we wanted to go see chaos walking. and i honest to God thought that no one would be seeing this movie. like NO ONE. every day, i checked the theater seating and no one was there right? plus i really wanted us to have the theater to ourselves. so we sit in the wrong seats, the row in front of us, STILL THINKING WE’RE ALONE. and then these 3 older people came in AND IM ABOUT TO SCREAM FHSJSH AND IM LIKE “are we in your seats?” and they we were like uh yeah, AND IT WAS SO BAD LMAOO , we’re moving and everything would’ve been FINE but my friend’s reclined seat was going down so slow and as it’s going shes LITERALLY SAYING ALOUD “awkward awkward awkward” so she thinks forget it, lemme just get up. 929. Now I know where half my wardrobe went.

This story was prompted by a lovely anon! Enjoy!

Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900

Nines was anxious to begin. In front of him lay several wooden planks of various sizes, cardboard-boxes, tubes of glue and buckets of paint. He didn’t quite know how to begin; he had only bought what several websites suggested and had returned home. Killing time really wasn’t his strong suit. He didn’t know how long he stood there as a message came in. What r u doing tin-can? Gavin laid stretched out on his sofa, head hanging over the edge stretching his neck tense from work and bad posture. He held his phone in front of his face in a position that could as well be yoga. Enjoying my vacation in piece and silence, Nines send back, picking up a plank trying to “see” something in it like the articles had described. Aw, come on, what did I disturb that has you this pissed? Gavin grinned at the screen. It would be fun to get to know a more personal side of the toaster. What had him so frustrated? I’m trying to find a hobby, as you instructed me. A hobby different to making fun of you. Nines laid the plank down. There had to be easier ways. He grabbed the cardboard and stared at it with his best interrogation face. Oh, baby’s first hobby? Can I come over? Gavin didn’t want to miss Nines stumbling into humanity at any cost. For what reason? The android put down the cardboard too. Gavin coming over was something he wanted to avoid. Not to get it wrong, he liked the guy. It was pleasant to work with him and he actually was a nice conversationalist once he had completed his Gavin-English dictionary. But having him over to watch him fail a seemingly easy task wasn’t how he had planned his day to go. Hey, I’m human, I have hobbies. Maybe I can help you. Gavin wasn’t dumb, he realised the RK900 wanted his distance. But by God, if Gavin wasn’t a stubborn pain in the ass. And on top of that all: bored. Fine. Gavin had nearly texted an enthusiastic “hell yeah!” but stopped himself rolling off the sofa and very pointedly not run, just hurry a little, to his room to find something decent to wear.

He arrived at Nines apartment, knocking on the door and having it opened to the android out of his Cyberlife jacket. It was a bit taken aback by that; he had never seen him without it in his life. Maybe that was his idea of wearing something comfortable at home, who would know. ‘Err… Hi!’, Gavin greeted him and was let in with a simple ‘Detective.’ ‘Hey, you know we are not at work, you can just call me Gav- woah.’ Nines had closed the door behind him, leaving him to look into the living room full of wooden planks and other bulky material as well as tools. ‘Hey, toaster, you trying to build all the furniture for someone?’ ‘… No. Is it too much?’ ‘Depending what you want to do with it’, Gavin shrugged, kicked off his shoes to the side of the hallway and hung up his jacket. ‘If you want to re-furniture my brother’s mansion, then it would do I guess.’ ‘I planned on experimenting with basic woodwork and model making’, Nines explained a bit shy. ‘I don’t have anything else to do during the vacation you pressed on me.’ ‘Hey, don’t make me look like I’m the bad guy here. I’m sure Fowler won’t complain having you at the precinct without me.’ ‘He does complain. I went to work this morning and he told me to “go find a hobby”. You said the same to me, so I wanted to at least give it a try.’ ‘You actually went to- you know, never mind. What do you want to build?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Well that’s unfortunate’, Gavin laughed. ‘You should have some idea.’ Nines sighed. He had known it would end in the man making fun of him. ‘If you came here just to see me fail, I would advise you to leave.’ Gavin looked at him startled. ‘Hey, Nines, I came here to help you. I mean it. Sorry that I laughed. It’s just… You prepared to build the Cyberlife tower life-sized with this and have no idea what to do. Normally people start smaller.’

Nines looked at the man marvelling at his mindless creativity. ‘That’s actually a good idea’, he nodded and didn’t pay the frowning human so much as a glance as he started picking up pieces of wood again. ‘What have I-‘ ‘Take a seat, Det- Gavin.’

It was fascinating seeing Nines work away with robotic speed and precision on a wooden block, until a few hours later he had completed a perfect replica of the Cyberlife tower. ‘Wow, that’s super impressive, Nines’, Gavin cheered. ‘It looks exactly like the real thing!’ The android smiled. Whether it was from the [mission successful] blinking in his HUD or from the praise he didn’t know. ‘And what are you going to do next?’, Gavin asked him. To Nines it was clear as day. ‘Why refurnishing your brother’s mansion when you can build a whole city?’

Nines had worked the whole day on his project and recreated belle-island. Gavin had sat there with him the whole time, just watching him and cheering whenever a building or tree was added to the bunch. One time he had ordered take-out and ate it and Nines hadn’t even batted an eye at it. Afterwards he had helped, gluing the buildings to a plate the android had cut to without doubt resemble the exact soil conditions over there. The man had left him only late in the night yawning and thanking him he had been allowed to come over. Nines accepted it, knowing well he should have been the one thanking him.

The next days he tried out a lot of different hobbies. Later, when he had made his mind up about how much he liked the different activities, he would continue with his projects. Gavin had only been there for some days and activities, enjoying his vacation only to come over when he was bored. Nines had begun caring after plants he had bought. He started cross-stitching. He took up cooking on a day Gavin was over for the practical reason of having someone to taste it only of course. He had tried puzzles, singing and foreign language learning. When it had come to magic tricks Gavin had been there as an audience for him. The last activities on his list were bread baking and pottery.

Baking was something simple, without much reward for him except for a nice smell. So it was on the same day he unpacked clay and set to work on a simple vase. He started up the electric potter’s wheel and started, fascinated at how the clay changed under pressure. Until he experimented too much with pressure and speed and the whole thing came suddenly flying at him landing across his chest. So much for pottery…

Frustrated he had been so stubbornly determined on trying it the human way without any program-guidance, he stood up to change into a clean turtleneck and wash the one he wore. Interestingly enough his wardrobe was empty. His spare upper-body clothes gone. Nines cocked his head to the side and closed it again. Had he left his spare pair at work? He didn’t care too much about it, as he went to the bathroom and pulled off his shirt to wash the clay away. He could always order new ones from Cyberlife as they had been produced in advance for the army he was supposed to become. When there were two-hundred-thousand jackets with his number on it, he wouldn’t shed any tears over it.

He put more interest in evaluating his experimentations. He disliked pottery. Cross-stitching was relaxing but felt inefficient to him. Caring for plants was too easy. At least with the plants he had bought. Puzzles were too little of a challenge too. Same with learning a new language, as he always could just download another patch. What he really liked had been cooking and building the model city. And doing the magic tricks with Gavin. What was the connection between them? Maybe if he found one, he could discover new hobbies with that trait more easily. He had liked Gavin’s reaction to his card and coin tricks. That was also true with cooking. And if he was honest with himself that too was the case with the model city. With a bit of shock, he realised that maybe he didn’t like these hobbies more than the others. Maybe he just liked that he had company. No that couldn’t be. That was so irrational. That wasn’t like him at all. But it was true.

He was faster out of the door that he could realise he had forgotten to fetch his jacket on the way out. A short drive through town he ended up in front of Gavin’s apartment hacking his lock to be let in. He had to tell him this weird development and needed a human to explain it. As far as he knew a hobby couldn’t be a person. He barged into the living room to face a terrified human wearing- ‘Is that my jacket?’ ‘I swear it’s not what it looks like!’, Gavin cried out, stumbling over the words. ‘Now I know where half of my wardrobe went’, Nines mused. ‘Wait, how does this look like?’ ‘Ahh, dunno, sorry! You can have it back!’ He scrambled off the sofa while pulling it off hurriedly. He finally got out of his Cyberlife jacket and had the seams of the turtleneck between his fingers as Nines gently put one hand on top of his with a pained look on his face. ‘Keep that on… please.’ ‘Err… okay. This is awkward as hell, sorry. Wait- half your wardrobe? I stole two things…’ ‘I don’t have to change. I don’t sweat. And my clothes never… They rarely get dirty.’ ‘Okay, we definitely have to go shopping someday’, Gavin uttered, still uncomfortable with being caught. Nines wanted to disagree, but then closed his mouth at the realisation that would mean he got time to spend with Gavin. So, he nodded. ‘Okay, after that weird start, what did you break into my home for anyways?’, Gavin asked. Nines straightened his back. ‘Is it possible for a hobby to be a person?’ The human laughed. ‘Heh, well, normal people would call that friendship or something, but… maybe? Why?’ ‘I tried out every hobby I had on my list. In the end I compared them all to find my favourite. I found out I had to add one.’ ‘Really? Then come on, tell me! What is it?’ ‘You.’

So there's been demons around since before you were born

They aren't the evil bloodthristy creatures that you normally find in books or movies

Well most of them aren't

Some of them kill and do that whole satan thing but the rest are chill most of the time

They're just a pain in the butt jesus

The demons love to be mischievous and play tricks on every one

They steal not because they need money or products but because they love chaos

They go to peoples houses just to mess with their closets and dishes

They eat your food before you can even finish cooking it

They even steal candies from children >:( those bastards

So it's your job to capture these creatures when they get too out of control

You're amazing but there is one specific demon that haunts your nightmares

This demon has been YOUR pain in the butt for almost 6 years now!!

The first time he appeared was in your bedroom, you were about to fall asleep when you felt your hair being pulled from behind you

Boy you were hella fast to jump from your bed and grab the closest thing to you in that moment, which was YOUR GUN- no I'm joking, it was a knife, you don't bring guns to bed, that's gross

You looked around but it was too dark to see anything so you sneackly walked to the switch and BAM

He never seemed interested in actually hurting you or doing anything too mean

So yeah, from that day foward you tried being nice to him and understanding his needs and actions

And if we're being honest here

He wasn't all that bad when you got to know him better

Aparently the other demons didn't like him that much so he tried to find other ways to entertain himself

You thought maybe boddering you was his way of expressing himself??

He thought that was the only way he could get your attetion

So you tried teaching him how to help instead of being annoying

He still went to school with you but now he insisted to help by carrying some of your stuff

He was quieter during classes and even started answering some questions on a notebook that you offered him

Maybe it was out of boredom but you were so happy!!

He was learning and that was so good and adorable! ^w^

He asked for your help sometimes with the things he couldn't solve

And you thought he looked so cute when he would bite your pencil whenever a harder question came up

You two started doing homework together and he was getting so much better at each subject

You felt like a proud mother :')

He would now watch you while you cooked for you both and would occasionally ask some questions like why did you put that in there or why were you mixing the ingredients with a fork and not a spoon

So you tried teaching him how to cook

Let's just say he was a whole m e s s

So after hours of intense baking you ended up with a weird red mix and some mashed potatoes

Your kitchen was dirty, sticky, slippery and oN FIRE OMG!!!!!!

After a visit from the fire department Hyunjin promised he would be more careful and ask you before turning on anything

You also discovered he was a whole teddy bear

Omg this boy was so soft and cuddly

He's such a clingy demon but he was also kinda shy, specially at first

He started by getting closer to you until your shoulders touched but if you looked at him with a questioning gaze he would immediately push you to the ground and run away with a evil laugh and some flushed cheeks

Whenever you had free time you two would do a movie marathon that always ended up with holding hands or falling asleep on each other

He once had the brilliant idea that you two should definitely watch a horror movie one night

He thought it would be the perfect opportunity to prove you how strong he was and how he could protect you

But it didn't go like he had hoped to

You two ended up a trembling mess of limbs, cuddled up to each other as Hyunjin whispered how bad of an idea that was and how it was all your fault

THIS BITCH I CAN'T-

Some days you would just arrive home totally exhausted and Hyunjin would make you some warm tea and cuddle you on the sofa until you fell asleep

He'd try to stay awake in case you wanted to move or go to your room but you were so warm and cozy that he was gone not even a minute after you

He'd also insist on doing your hair when you were going out

He loved it and he had a lot of fun so anytime he had the opportunity he would ask you to let him help

At first you ended up with a mess of braids and accessories that formed a weird nest on your head

BUT HYUNJIN LOOKED SO HAPPY WITH HIS PUPPY EYES AHH

You ended up going out like that

But he got better with time

Whenever you had to leave him alone at home you would write him a list of things for him to do and others that he shouldn't even attempt to

You arrived later and found your house a little messier than before and Hyunjin cleaning a weird green goo that mysteriously fell on the floor

But you couldn't be mad at him now, specially because when Hyunjin saw you he tackled and trapped you in a big bear hug that immediately melted all your anger

You two started opening up more and more to each other and BAM that's how you got your super demon best friend :D

His mischievous side wasn't all gone, he still pranked you once in a while but now you were sure it wasn't for the sake of being mean

And he made sure to compensate you with cuddles, an attempt of a meal or a gift made of things he found around the house

It so was weird

At first you couldn't handle him but now you two are inseparable!

It's unusual but you both make it work

Thank you so much! Funny you should ask this…I’ve actually had this fic idea in mind for ages and just never wrote it out until now, so hopefully you like it.

Warning for car accidents and mention of blood and injuries under the cut:

“Karamatsu, come on! Let’s go already, before I leave without you,” Todomatsu huffed impatiently, tapping his foot as he waited by the front door. “Mom’s gonna be mad if we don’t get what she needs from the store soon.”

“Right, right! On my way!” Karamatsu took the stairs two at a time, hastily pulling his hoodie over his head. He’s always like a puppy when anyone asks him to do something with him, Todomatsu couldn’t help but think. Always so eager to get going. It’s so silly…but I guess it could be worse. At least he’s wearing normal clothes and not that ridiculous leather jacket, or those stupid sequin-covered jeans…

Karamatsu tugged on his shoes, then reached into the pocket of his hoodie and whipped out his signature sunglasses, which he put on with a dramatic flourish. Todomatsu sighed inwardly. Well, so much for that. Always so painful…

“Let’s just get going already,” Todomatsu muttered, swinging open the front door and stepping outside into the warm sunshine.

The walk to the store was quiet enough–neither of them spoke much, to Todomatsu’s surprise and relief. They arrived at the store in no time at all, retrieved the items on the shopping list Matsuyo had entrusted them with, paid for their purchases, and left in record time. They’d each bought a little something for themselves, too–Todomatsu had found a new face mask he’d been wanting to try, and Karamatsu had helped himself to a new fashion magazine. Todomatsu had tried not to roll his eyes and could only distance himself as the cashier rang up that purchase.

It was on their way out of the store, though, when their ordinary trip turned into something far more excruciating. Two women–two really pretty women that were way out of their league, Todomatsu thought–were standing by the bike rack outside of the store, chatting and giggling with each other, clearly absorbed in their conversation.

Todomatsu was prepared to walk right on by without making any sort of scene, but not Karamatsu. No, it seemed that would’ve been far too simple for an idiot like him. Instead of minding his own business like he should’ve, he chose to go out of his way to approach them.

“Good afternoon, lovely ladies,” he greeted them, flashing them what he must’ve thought was a charming smile. “Wonderful weather we’re having lately, hm?”

The girls eyed him cautiously, their smiles fading into condescending leers. Todomatsu mentally smacked his hand to his forehead, wishing he could just disappear–or at least completely disassociate himself from his dumbass brother. He shot him a withering glare, silently begging him to leave them alone and follow him home.

Karamatsu didn’t seem to catch the hint from any of them, though. “Do you come here often? Perhaps we shall cross paths again one day, if fate allows–it would be an honor to be graced with the sight of your pretty faces again!” He raised his sunglasses and winked at them, as if that would make the painfully lavish flattery any more appealing to them.

“Gross,” one of the girls muttered, sneering at him.

“Freak,” the second girl jeered, and the two of them spun around and walked off in the other direction.

Todomatsu could only gape at the scene that had just unfolded before him, his jaw nearly scraping the pavement. “Karamatsu…what the hell was that?” he exclaimed, once he’d finally recovered enough to find his voice.

Karamatsu blinked, fazed at first, then slipped his sunglasses back on and grinned. “You know how it is, my dear Totty. I was merely trying to recruit some Karamatsu girls, but they didn’t seem interested.”

“I should say not!” Todomatsu sputtered, glaring at him. “Do you really think any girl is going to like being approached by some random guy and then flirted with?! Because I can almost guarantee you that’s not the case!”

Karamatsu blinked, stunned at the sudden outburst. “I wasn’t trying to do anything bad…I simply enjoy complimenting anyone who seems like they’d enjoy it.”

“And has anyone so far, Karamatsu?” Todomatsu prompted, crossing his arms tightly over his chest. “Because last I checked, you don’t exactly have a swarm of Karamatsu girls flocking around you. Your act is ridiculous, and I can’t stand it anymore.”

“Ahh…my sincerest apologies, my dear brother. I certainly never meant to cause you any issue with—“

“God, do you even listen to yourself talk?! Everything always has to be so flowery and perfect with you!” Todomatsu spat, suddenly unable to hold back. “Why can’t you just be normal for once? Why couldn’t I have a brother who won’t constantly embarrass me whenever we go out?”

Karamatsu blanched, looking stricken…and maybe just a bit hurt by Todomatsu’s harsh words. “Todomatsu…” he began, voice quieter than usual.

“No. I don’t want to talk about this now.” Todomatsu twirled on his heel and marched forward. “Let’s just…lets just go home.”

Karamatsu said nothing in response, but Todomatsu could hear his footsteps shuffling dejectedly after him. He tried not to pay any attention to it. His cheeks were still bright pink and burning, and he felt a tight knot coil around his stomach. He just wanted to get home and forget this whole stupid thing even happened.

His phone buzzed in his pocket then, and he slid it out and glanced at the screen. A text from Atsushi. His eyes lid up as he read.

Ooh, a mixer next weekend—and he’s inviting me to go with him again! I guess I didn’t do too badly last time around if he’s willing to ask me back…if course I’m going to this!

“Todomatsu….”

Todomatsu ignored Karamatsu, brushing him off. His fingers flew across the screen as he rapidly composed his text, eyes on his phone as he kept walking.

“Todomatsu…!”

Again Todomatsu didn’t listen. He was too busy debating on what emoji would be the best to end his text with. Hmm…got it, playful smile. Aaaand done! He smirked with satisfaction as he hit “send.”

“TODOMATSU, WATCH OUT!!”

This time Karamatsu was screaming, pulling Todomatsu’s attention away from his phone at last and to the road he suddenly found himself walking across.

It all happened in a blur.

Todomatsu saw the car careening around the corner and driving too fast toward him, too fast for him to react. He froze right there, too stricken with horror to react, to move. A loud, bellowing honk from a car horn ripped through his ears, making his whole body vibrate…

…And then he was pushed forcefully out of the way as Karamatsu ran forward, shoving him as hard as he could.

Todomatsu hit the ground face-first at around the same time he heard a sickening thunk from behind him. His phone slipped from his grip and bounced across the street, a spiderweb of thin cracks spreading across the screen as it landed. The screen flickered before fading to black.

Todomatsu scrambled to his knees and snatched up his phone, hands shaking. Behind him, he could hear the door of a car open and slam shut. He didn’t think he could handle turning around.

No. This didn’t just happen.

There was a commotion all around him, but all he could hear was a loud ringing in his ears. Through the din he heard someone calling for an ambulance.

This is not happening.

“I didn’t see them there!” A voice, screaming frantically. “They just ran right out in front of my car, I swear!”

It’s not, it’s not, it’s, not…

“Please, get an ambulance here as soon as possible!” Someone was barking into their cell phone. “He’s unconscious and losing blood!”

Todomatsu couldn’t deny this anymore. He immediately got up and turned around, to where the group of people had gathered.

It can’t be Karamatsu, he can’t be hurt, he can’t be, he just can’t be…!

He pushed his way through the crowd…and when he saw who they were circled around he felt like he was going to be sick.

Karamatsu lay on the ground, inches away from the front end of a car, his body looking twisted the wrong way. He couldn’t see where it was coming from, but there was a pool of blood leaking under his head. Blood…oh god, blood….

“Karamatsu-niisan…” Todomatsu’s voice wavered, and suddenly he was breaking down in tears as he knelt beside his brother, hands hovering over him, wanting to hold him but too afraid to touch him. “Nii-san…nii-san, p-please, be okay, you have to be okay…can you hear me? Can you answer me?”

Silence. Karamatsu’s eyes were closed, as if he were deep in sleep. The only indication Todomatsu could see that he was even still alive was the slight rise and fall of his chest as he breathed.

“Nii-san…” Todomatsu whispered, sniffling, moving to gently touch Karamatsu’s shoulder. The second eldest didn’t so much as flinch. “I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…this is my fault, this is all my fault….”

The shrill wail of a siren pierced the air then, and the flashing red-and-white lights of the ambulance came into view. Todomatsu wiped at his tears with one hand, reaching down and squeezing one of Karamatsu’s hands in his own.

“Nii-san, help is here…they’re going to help you, okay? You’re going to be okay…please, nii-san…I-I need you to be okay…I need you to live…okay?” He squeezed his brother’s hand again, tears blurring his vision.

He didn’t get so much as a tiny squeeze back.

The wait in the hospital waiting room was unbearable. Todomatsu couldn’t stop pacing—not even after his own family had arrived, smothering him in hugs and fussing over his own minimal injuries. Everyone was a nervous wreck, on edge as they waited for any news on Karamatsu’s condition.

The whole time Todomatsu paced, he was silently berating himself.

This is all your fault. You did this to him. If you had just been watching where you were going he wouldn’t have had to save you, and he’d be fine right now.

Another thought occurred to him, one that made him feel instantly sick to his stomach.

All those awful things I said to him…they felt true at the time, but that was the last thing I said to him before this happened…what if something is seriously wrong and he…he doesn’t make it? I’ll never see him again, I’ll never talk to him again…I never got to say I’m sorry.

Fresh tears sprang in his eyes, and he collapsed onto the upholstered chair between Osomatsu and Choromatsu. They did their best to comfort him through their own concerns, but it was no use. Todomatsu didn’t think he deserved to be consoled, anyway.

It’s all my fault. I deserve to be miserable for the rest of my life…and if anything happens to Kara, I will be.

A couple of hours passed before a doctor finally came out to talk to them. By then everyone was holding their breath, terrified by what they might hear. It came as a huge relief when the doctor finally spoke—Karamatsu was pretty badly injured, but he would be fine. He had a concussion and a couple of broken ribs, and they planned on keeping him there for observation for a few days, but it was nothing life-threatening now that he’d regained consciousness.

Yet even with that good news, Todomatsu still felt wracked with guilt. He’ll survive, but he still shouldn’t have to be here now in the first place. I should be the one in the hospital right now…

When the doctor let each of them take turns visiting Karamatsu, Todomatsu couldn’t bring himself to at first. He let everyone else go before him, as he sat quietly and contemplated everything. Would Karamatsu even want to see him now? If it had been the other way around, would Todomatsu want to have a visit with the person who’d risked his life just after insulting him so brutally? He didn’t think he would…

“Todomatsu? Honey?” Matsuyo’s voice broke into his thoughts. “It’s your turn, if you’d like. Karamatsu was hoping to see you.”

Hoping to see me…? He really does want to see me? Who knows why…probably just to yell at me.

But he didn’t say that. All he could croak out was a weak, “Okay.”

Slowly, Todomatsu stood on shaking legs and walked down the hall toward Karamatsu’s room. He braced himself as he knocked, then turned the knob, not knowing what to expect.

Karamatsu lay in the bed closest to the window, propped up by a few pillows. His head was heavily bandaged, and when he turned toward Todomatsu he could see the bruising on his cheeks and around his blackened eye. Todomatsu drew in a deep breath, resisting the urge to gasp.

“Todomatsu…hi.” Karamatsu tried to sit up a little in bed, winching as he did so. Todomatsu flinched inwardly, thinking about his broken ribs and how badly that must hurt.

“Hi…um, you don’t have to sit up,” Todomatsu said quickly. “You can just lay down again…it looks like you’re in pain.”

“They put me on an IV with pain medicine to help for now….but I think I will lay down again anyway, if you don’t mind.” Karamatsu slowly eased himself back against his pillow again. He looked a little worn out, as far as Todomatsu could tell.

“Mom said…she said you wanted to see me?” Todomatsu ventured hesitantly, wringing his hands. “Is…is everything okay…?”

“Actually…that’s what I wanted to ask.” Karamatsu’s voice was so sincere right now, lacking the usual sparkle he spoke with. “I was worried about you…I wanted to make sure you were doing alright after the accident. Are you okay?”

“I…wait…you mean, you were worried me?” Todomatsu asked, taken aback.

“Yes…the whole situation must have been so scary, and I was worried about how you took it and if you’d gotten hurt…are you okay?”

Todomatsu bowed his head, gaze locked on the floor. Suddenly his eyes welled with tears, and before he could stop himself he was burying his face in his hands as he sobbed.

“T-Todomatsu…?” Karamatsu asked, alarmed. “What’s wrong…?”

“You…you idiot!” Todomatsu wailed, voice trembling as he struggled to contain his tears. “Y-you were the one who got hit by a c-car! I’m the one who was worried about you this whole time, thinking you might die! I don’t…I don’t deserve to be worried about! Not when this whole thing is my fault!”

“Todomatsu…”

“I-I was so horrible to you today, and I didn’t get a chance to apologize…” Todomatsu babbled on tearfully. “I said such terrible things…but the truth is, if you weren’t like this, if you were just a normal brother…I’d miss it! I’d miss you! I…I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!”

“Todomatsu…please, come here.” Karamatsu patted the spot next to him on the bed.

Todomatsu relented at first, then gave in, perching at the edge of the bed. Karamatsu leaned toward him, wrapping him up in a one-armed embrace with the arm not currently hooked up to tubes.

“Todomatsu, I don’t want you to beat yourself up over this so much,” he said after a moment, still holding his sniffling younger brother close. Todomatsu stayed a little rigid, terrified of hurting him again.

“B-but…it was my fault…”

“This could have happened to any of us. It was all an accident. Please don’t keep worrying about it.”

“But…what about those terrible things I said…?”

“I’ve heard worse before. Don’t worry about that, either.”

Todomatsu sniffed again, wiping his nose with his hoodie sleeve despite his better judgement. He still wasn’t convinced that it wasn’t his fault…but at least Karamatsu was speaking to him, rather than screaming at him or, worse, giving him the cold shoulder. Maybe that meant something, after all.

“I…I’m so sorry, Karamatsu-niisan,” Todomatsu whispered hoarsely, brushing away the last of his tears.

“It’s okay. Let’s not worry about this anymore today…tomorrow will be a brighter day, and I think everyone could use some rest now.” Karamatsu yawned a little then, and scooted over slightly in bed. He indicated for Todomatsu to lay beside him. Reluctantly he did, resting his head against one of the pillows. Karamatsu kept his arm protectively around him.

Todomatsu still felt terrible. Deep in his heart he knew that what happened today was still his fault—if not due to his biting remarks, than because of not paying attention. No matter how he spun it, all the evidence pointed to him being the one to blame. But right now, he didn’t want to keep pressing it. Karamatsu seemed so exhausted, and Todomatsu was tired, too.

Together, the two drifted off to sleep, Karamatsu holding Todomatsu close and guarding him once more.

oh its good that its not the bad type of rain, a light sprinkling can be relaxing sometimes. aww thx darl, the concern is appreciated but it went pretty well and i managed not to cough too much on stage or kill myself trying to run around to the other side of the stage in the pouring rain so thats good! oooh tea buddies! my dogs a labradoodle, but shes a bit more of a feral poodle lol not much labrador in her at all, unless its her relentless urge to hunt down every bird that has ever walked this earth smh :((( hopefully they can come back on soon, does uni have dances?

i could talk about god's menu felix for hours man. the teaser for god's menu that featured his part on the bridge made me look forward to the mv release. you: biases chan, also you: lixiesbabyhands. yes you are more whipped than you think. i can't believe orange haired minho was given NOTHING during that era but they kind of made up for it in the b-sides. i also hope it stays that way. the distribution for this era was pretty fair.

a soft knock on the door interrupts your tears and minhyun walks in with two cups of coffee in one of those like cardboard things lol

“Hey, y/n... I could hear you from next door, what’s wrong?”

you don’t even have enough time to question how he managed to hear you through a brick wall before your tears are flowing again

you know how it is,, whenever someone is nice to you ; you always cry more lol

he puts down the coffee on your desk and pulls one of the chairs over to sit next to you

in complete silence he puts his arms around you and like;; cradles you while you cry and rubs your back and hands you tissues every so often

you swear that in between the blurs of tears you see a faint flash of red uhm

but you brush it off as it being a piece of his clothing and just;; continue letting out your emotions lol

when you’re finally done you sit up and thank him and he just smiles right back at you

“no need to thank me! do you want to tell me what’s up? if you don’t that’s totally fine but like sharing is caring…wait no i mean a problem shared is a problem halved”

you laugh at his mistake and mumble back

Oppa-ya | Jihoon Idol!Au | Part 2

Genre: Fluff, angst

By some chance, the next Vlive with Seungkwan and Hoshi invited you and Jihoon. They explained it was some sort of new gimmick where they would bring in other Pledis artists and you shrugged it off like “Sure, why not?” But deep inside, you had this long suspicion that Seungkwan will corner you today since he was so adamant in knowing who it was that you liked.

You and Leigh (who wanted to watch you so eagerly for some reason) arrived at the set (which was basically just the lobby of Pledis) and saw that Seungkwan and Hoshi were there early, going over the script so that they wouldn’t do or say anything inappropriate. Being the diligent idol that you are, you approached them and asked if there was something you needed to be aware of before the live started and they were nice enough to tell you about the different corners which will be shown later and plan how everything would flow.

As Jihoon arrived a little late—clearly from his personal studio—the staff and the managers all began to move to immediately start the Vlive as Seungkwan and Hoshi seated themselves in front of the cameras. Like the Andromeda Broadcasts you used to watch, Seungkwan and Hoshi began their usual shenanigans and would often delay the flow of the show but eventually though, you and Jihoon’s cue was up.

“Ah, Seungkwannie! Have you heard that we’ve started to invite other idols here in Andromeda?” Hoshi began with a playful expression forming on his face.

“Really? It’s our first time inviting someone outside of Seventeen! Are you all excited?” Seungkwan replied earnestly as he looked over at the phone Hoshi was holding to read the comments. “Ah, look. They’re all guessing who it is!”

“No, no!” Hoshi was chuckling. “It’s not the NU’EST hyungs today—”

“We’ll see them in another broadcast, right?” Seungkwan piped in with a nod.

“Right!” Hoshi was laughing again, clearly excited. “They’re all saying Monsta X! Ok! Hint! One of our guests today is a girl from a girl group!”

“Of course she’s from a girl group! Are there boys in a girl group, ha hyung?!” Seungkwan said in annoyance as he grabbed the toy hammer and lightly hit Hoshi’s head who only grinned.

“Well, there—there are now groups with both girls and boys in it!” Hoshi defended himself but Seungkwan simply ignored him and proceeded to continue the broadcast.

“Alright! Let’s hurry up and introduce them! Our guests for today are—Seventeen’s Woozi and YG/N’s Y/N! Come on out!”

You and Jihoon slowly entered the frame—you with a little smile while Jihoon looked kind of done with Seungkwan and Hoshi’s shit. Seungkwan suddenly sat up and offered you his seat as Hoshi moved his chair to the side so that Jihoon would sit beside you, without much choice. So basically, you and Jihoon were at the center while the two hosts were at the sides with zealous expressions on their faces.

You were fast to catch up to these subtle gestures that you eyed Seungkwan beside you, who only gave you a shrug.

“Ah why don’t you introduce yourselves?” Seungkwan suggested to get away from your judging eyes. For the chicken, for the chicken, for the chicken.

You began to introduce yourself; averting your gaze from Seungkwan who covertly exhaled a sigh of relief as Jihoon who was seated beside you also introduced himself.

“Wow. A lot of comments are coming in!” Hoshi glanced at the phone he was holding. “They’re all excited to see Y/N!”

Seungkwan laughed at that one comment he saw. “’Jihoon-oppa and Y/N-unnie look great together!’ They do, right?”

As you heard his words, you shot him a glare, disguised with a small unamused smile. Jihoon, on the other hand, was laughing at how Seungkwan was looking warily at you.

“Anyway, we heard that YG/N just got from their first world tour,” Hoshi began as he gave you a questioning glance and you nodded in acknowledgement.

“Ah, we did. It was really fun to go to different countries. I personally had fun visiting tourist sites and exploring the cities,” you replied with a bright smile.

“You guys went to Europe, right?” Seungkwan asked with a little pout. “I wish we would go there in the future!”

“Oh, you’re the type to go look around?” Jihoon asked you suddenly. “You never striked me as one who would enjoy that.”

“It actually depends on my mood. If I’m bored, I’ll probably look around,” you laughed as you answered him.

“Woozi doesn’t really go out when we would go on tours. He just stays in the hotel,” Hoshi interrupted with a grin.

“Ah that’s right. He never goes out. He just stays in bed all day,” Seungkwan added.

“Well, I might do the same. Sometimes, going out is just too…tiring. You guys are just so energetic,” you told them as your voice trailed off to find the right word.

“Right? Staying indoors is much better for people like us,” Jihoon remarked with a chuckle as he looked at your direction, infecting you with his contagious smile.

Seungkwan had sensed the approaching dead air and professionally congratulated your group on wrapping up your first world tour successfully. You gave him a warm smile and a thank you before the broadcast finally moved on to the first corner of the show.

“Carats who have seen our first Andromeda shows know this special corner! Do you know what it is Seungkwannie?” Hoshi introduced the segment enthusiastically that you yourself was hyped by his energy—grinning and clapping along the way.

“Of course! It’s the speed speed speed Woozi Y/N’speed quiz!” Seungkwan began singing with Hoshi in perfect harmony as you were laughing hard at the side; hiding behind Seungkwan’s shoulder.

“Woozi was really good at this last time! He hardly ever got hit!” Hoshi remarked as Jihoon looked at him with a tiny smile on his lips.

“Oh I’ve seen that episode!” you said abruptly with an excited expression, totally comfortable with the broadcast but the three men around you simply raised their brows.

“You did? That was like a long time ago,” Jihoon was the first to react.

“Well yeah…anyway, how does this game work?” you immediately changed topics upon realizing what you had almost revealed and thankfully, they didn’t push the issue any further.

“So basically, we’ll ask the viewers for questions to ask you and you have to answer them as fast as you can. If you can’t answer right away, you’ll get hit by this,” Seungkwan explained to you the mechanics of the game as he showed you the toy hammer. “You can’t also say ‘I don’t know’ more than twice.”

“Oh ok ,ok,” you replied with a nod as you pretended that you didn’t know about how the quiz worked and proceeded with preparing yourself for the questions to be asked.

“Since Y/N is the special guest, let’s ask her first. Ok?” Hoshi led the first round of the quiz as Seungkwan held the toy hammer on top of your head. “Alright, everyone! Comment in your questions for Y/N in three, two, one…go!”

In a matter of a few seconds, Hoshi began to read the questions coming in for you.

“Favorite milk tea flavor?”

“Jasmine.”

“A good singer?”

“Ah, there’s a lot.”

“Will you marry me?”

“Sure, why not?”

“Let’s go on a date?”

“Let’s go.”

“Tall or short guy?”

“Both!”

“Ideal type?”

“Someone smart and a good talker.”

“Do you like Seventeen?”

“I love them!”

“Favorite Seventeen member?”

“All of them actually.”

“Favorite Seventeen song?”

“Pretty U and Clap.”

“Do aegyo with Woozi?”

“Sure, if he doesn’t destroy the world first.” Seungkwan began laughing while Jihoon glared at him.

“Seungkwan or Hoshi?”

“Hoshi-oppa.”

“Hey! We just hung out last Saturday!” Seungkwan interrupted as you were smirking at the camera.

“Hoshi or Woozi?”

“Um, wait—ow! I won’t sing karaoke with you anymore Seungkwan!”

“Your idol crush?”

“No way! I can’t answer—ah! Seungkwan-ah!”

“Do you like working with Woozi-oppa?”

“Yeah, I love working with him.” You silently thanked the viewer who asked you that question.

“Pick a boyfriend: Seungkwan, Hoshi or Woozi?”

“I swear if it’s you Hanna I’m—ahh!”

“Alright, let’s stop here!” Seungkwan struggled to utter the words though since he was laughing so hard at you that he had almost rolled on the floor while Jihoon laughed hysterically with him as well; clapping his hands.

When you were finally done with the game, you grabbed the toy hammer from Seungkwan’s grasps and threatened to hit him hard if he doesn’t stop laughing. As everyone recovered from their laughing fit, Seungkwan cleared his throat and continued with the broadcast.

“Earlier you said your ideal type is someone smart and a good talker?” he asked you who was still annoyed at him.

“But someone smart is really attractive though? And if he’s good at making a conversation too then wouldn’t that be interesting as well?” you replied with a questioning gaze at Seungkwan.

“Girls these days are really practical…” Hoshi remarked.

“Yeah, so you better start studying,” Jihoon added with a shit-eating grin that the three of you immediately hollered while Hoshi was hitting Jihoon playfully.

“Ah, speaking of a smart guy and a good talker, aren’t you describing Woozi-hyung?” Seungkwan interjected, earning a deadly threatening smile from you.

“You’re right! Our Jihoonie is a genius composer! Plus, he has a way with words,” Hoshi further inserted, digging you into a much deeper hole.

“No, no! It’s not like that!” Jihoon denied as he made an embarrassed laugh; his ears going red. “Tell me! If you’re a girl would you even date me?”

“I would,” you suddenly interrupted that everyone became silent and looked at you with a mildly surprised expression.

Your heartbeat raced as you realized what you just did and hurriedly tried to cover up your mistake. “I-I mean who wouldn’t? A lot of Carats like Jihoon-oppa so of course, they would want to date him. He’s really cool and he’s really fun to be with!”

“Alright, Seungkwan. Spill it.”

Right after the broadcast, you dragged Seungkwan down to one of the empty hallways in Pledis as you trapped him to the wall with your angry gaze.

“Spill what?? Honestly, you and Woozi-hyung are scary!” Seungkwan replied with a little quiver in his voice.

“Leigh told you who I liked, didn’t she?” you asked with impatience in your tone.

“Well…yeah, I—”

“Jesus. She’d better treat me later.”

“What is the deal with the two of you anyway?”

“With who?”

“Woozi-hyung, of course! Why couldn’t you just tell him you like him?”

You rolled your eyes at Seungkwan.

“We’re not a match made in heaven, okay? We’ll just fight if we dated,” you confessed with a bitter tone, looking at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

“Ah, honestly this girl. How would you know? You couldn’t even confess!” Seungkwan groaned at you in exasperation.

“I just know! His personality and mine don’t match at all! We’re fire and fire and we’ll just burn each other out!”

“Wow, that’s really poetic—”

“That’s not the point here. I don’t want to hurt myself and more importantly, I don’t want to hurt him. Plus, we’re always so busy with work that I don’t really know if it’ll work out. Most celebrity couples break up within months but I don’t want that to happen but judging from the way things are, it will happen!”

Seungkwan placed a comforting hand on your shoulder as he tried to settle your haywire emotions.

“Alright, Y/N. Calm down. Honestly, you are going to regret this in the future and I will not let that happen. You are going to confess to Woozi-hyung and I will convince you no matter how stubborn you are.”

“You can’t convince me,” you declared back at him with a challenging look.

“I can make Woozi-hyung do aegyo, do you think I can’t make you confess?” Seungkwan said to you before he left the hallway. “For the chicken.”

10 minutes earlier

“Alright, Seungkwan. Tell me what happened in that broadcast.”

Jihoon cornered Seungkwan with the same ferocity as yours at the men’s comfort room where he immediately escaped to after.

“What? What are you talking about, hyung?” Seungkwan replied with knitted eyebrows.

“Why were you teasing Y/N and me? I thought the deal was figuring out who she likes!” Jihoon glared at Seungkwan that the younger felt like running away, only if Jihoon wasn’t ready to run after him with his guitar.

“Ah that…yeah…I forgot,” Seungkwan added with a scratch on the back of his head. I can’t tell what I know.

“You better work on your part or I’ll call off the deal.”

“Don’t worry, hyung. I have another plan.”

“You better,” Jihoon gave one more deadly glance before he went ahead to the recording room as Seungkwan finally heaved a relieved sigh.

“For the chicken.”
