i’m pretty sure it’s just because of her arc in the books, which is about having a genuine love with john and then feeling guilty about falling for michael(a) because she adored john and feels like she’s doing something wrong by loving his cousin.
ah gotcha!! i definitely do want to read the bridgerton books, so i’ll have to check them out! i do think that so Far on the show they have portrayed her love for john in a very platonic way, but that could definitely change! regardless i am sooooooo interested to see what they do with her next season👀

There's a party where you MotoGP/2/3, WSBK/WSSP/300, F1/2/3, FE drivers/riders or whatever are invited, but there's a catch. They need to be dressed up as something that starts as their first letter of their name/surname or popular nickname. It can be in any language you know. It can be as general as Celestino going in blue jeans and a blue sweater with his face painted in blue with black dots, as he is going as 'cielo' sky in Italian. It can also be specific as Celestino as Captain America.
So who is going to the party, and what are they wearing?
My dumb ass accidentally clicked the back button and lost everything I had written because I didn't saved my response as a draft beforehand 😭😭😭 I'm sorry that it took ages for me to reply anon 💔💔💔
This is a really interesting ask and I want to at least have a concept going on. Therefore, I decide to combine both of my fandoms: motorsports and k-pop! I have no idea if this is a common thing but in k-pop, before a group release an album, they usually will release concept photos relating to the album. So I decided to make the letter is based on the name of the album and the outfit is based on the concept photos or other photoshoots for the album.
This is going to be a really long ride so buckle up!
1. Tatsuki Suzuki (Moto3) as THE CLAN pt.1 <LOST> (Monsta X)
Tumblr media
I actually thought of going with the code photoshoot when I saw these pictures of changkyun and jooheon but that's not really party coded. Tatsu always dress nicely and it's always a treat to see but I would love to see him wearing casual bf outfits and be a heartthrob in full force but we are going to a party and not a date so yeah. The clan outfits are quite simple but I think tatsu will still look fine as hell even in simple clothes. Personally I will dress him up in changkyun's outfit (the guy on the left) so that we can get a sneak peak of his chest and I would make the waist part a bit tighter to showcase his tiny waist more. Maybe add a few necklace there too? I'm not creative in designing but I may add a few more details on the suit to enhance it more or I'll just keep it that way. After all, sometimes simple is enough and he will slay every outfit anyway.
2. Ai Ogura (Moto2) as An Ode (Seventeen)
Tumblr media
I love the poet ver the most among the concept photos because the vibe is just *chef's kiss*. Ai mostly wear all black clothes and he does look hot af in them but I will want to add a few colours to his outfit. Minghao's outfit is nice too as well as jeonghan's aside from seokmin and wonwoo that I included in the picture above. I don't know, I think ai suits a not so formal outfits but not too casual either which is why I prefer the poet ver more than the truth ver. If I'm feeling bold, maybe I'll add a few laces but overall, I would not want to disturb the vibe of the outfit and will keep it simple.
3. Celestino Vietti (Moto2) as Chaos (Victon)
Tumblr media
I know cele is a private person but boy does he rarely post pics outside of racing. Even the pictures of him in casual clothes he posted is of him in merch instead. Anyway he usually wears simple t-shirt or hoodies (that outfit is still on of the best I've seen of him). So accuse me of favoritism all you want because it's true anyway, I'm going to make him stand out. Basically chaos outfits is mostly techwear core kind of especially the fate version and something that I honestly cannot imagine cele wears but I think he will look so good in. I will add chains and choker to the outfit and maybe clip-on helix earrings just because I can if it looks good. I will make him turn heads because it's my party and he is my fav boy. I actually thought of going with choice outfits especially time ver or in the iconic grey suits with fishnet but I know that I'll die if I saw him in those outfits.
4. Niccolo Antonelli (Moto2) as Nostalgia (Victon)
Tumblr media
I really love nelli's insta because it's like really neat and while it's dominantly filled with pictures of him in racing suits, there are still a lot pictures of him in casual clothes. I love nostalgia outfit especially the one used in the nostos ver concept 2 aka the one used in the album cover. I will dress nelli up in what chan (the guy on the left) wore because I really want to see him in formal casual wear (is that a thing? Idk I suck in fashion). But if he prefers a more simple outfit, sejun's (the guy on the right) outfit will do with a loose t-shirt and patterned jacket over it. But it's my party so I will make sure he wears chan's outfit anyway ✹
5. Tony Arbolino (Moto2) as The Name Chapter: Temptation (TXT)
Tumblr media
I like tony's style because I think it suits him a lot. One of my fav outfit of him is the one he wore a black jacket with white pattern(?) over a white shirt though he doesn't post any proper pics of him in that outfit. Okay back to the topic, tony has a lean body and the outfit in the lullaby ver of the album is basically fit turtlenecks with tight pants so that will do a great job in showcasing that. Since the outfit is quite simple, I will focus more on accessories like the chains or is that a necklace idk. Or maybe the string of lights or whatever on taehyun's outfit because it looks pretty. Maybe I'll include clip on earrings (does tony have ear piercings?) if I'm feeling bold. Well all 4 versions of the album has beautiful concept photos such as the nightmare ver, daydream ver and farewell ver so I can decide which one to indulge on 😌
6. Luca Marini (MotoGP) as Lotto (EXO)
Tumblr media
Luca is a model and everyone is aware of that. He can wear a simple black t-shirt and everyone will swoon. I was debating between love shot or lotto's outfit (he will look hot in jongin's red suit) but I want to showcase his tiny waist more so I go with lotto. Lotto's outfit is mostly suits with a belt over the waist so that's perfect with my agenda. I either will go with a simple necklace or a choker if I'm feeling bold. Basically I will spend a lot of time on detailing of the jacket of the suit(?) and maybe make it slightly longer to resemble a coat to showcase his long legs. Well either way he will stand out anyway because he is luca.
7. Takaaki Nakagami (MotoGP) as The Book of Us: The Demon
Tumblr media
Damn I miss Day6 hhh Uhm, okay, so taka can be a model in whatever clothes he wear just like marini for me so I think he doesn't need much styling. I really like his style because it seems simple but casual and comfy at the same time(?). Basically the type of clothes I personally will want to wear. I notice that he usually wears bright clothes and I wish to see him in dark clothes a bit more. Jae's (the guy on the left) outfit is nice because obviously you can't go wrong with a suit. But I will prefer to dress him up in dowoon's outfit more (the guy on the right and the one standing at the center in that pic in that link). I don't even know what kind of style is that but it reminds me of a gentleman with power like uh noble? Maybe not I don't know but yeah I think it will suit him a lot though personally, with how hot he is lately, I think I will focus on him more than the outfit anyway AHAHAHAHA
8. Mick Schumacher (F1) as Minisode 2 - Thursday's Child (TXT)
Tumblr media
The title track of this album is good boy gone bad and I really want to see mick gone feral after everything that happened (we saw a glimpse of dgaf mick near the end of last season and that's sexy). Actually I thought of going with the hate ver outfit but it's like too drastic from his usual style so I decided against it. Anywayyyy I think he fits beomgyu's (the guy on the right) outfit more and that may be because I just can't imagine him wearing fur like clothes like hyuka (the guy on the left) did. Since mick doesn't even dress up much and mostly wears his under armour clothes, those kind of style will be really interesting to see from him. I'm thinking of a choker instead of that necklace but nothing too extravaganza to still maintain that 'good boy' concept. Actually thinking back, I may keep that necklace I don't know I'm indecisive. The lipstick smear is a must though as an indication to 'gone bad' part.
9. Yuki Tsunoda (F1) as Youth (WEi)
Tumblr media
There's not much albums that start with Y unfortunately so there's not much choices that I can pick from :( But I noticed that yuki rarely tuck in his shirts and I think junseo's (the guy on the left) outfit will look good on yuki though I prefer donghan's. Yuki usually dress quite simple and most of his clothes look comfy so I think that that leather(?) shirt donghan wore would be quite a new sight on him. Or maybe he had worn it before but I wasn't aware. Well either way, I think yuki is the type of person that steal looks even when he doesn't dress extravaganza so I would prefer to keep his outfit quite simple. Maybe a necklace but not much addition.
10. Guanyu Zhou (F1) as GO生 (Stray Kids)
Tumblr media
I initially thought of going with zhou guanyu with zelos by vixx as the concept but then I realized that I used first name for everyone else and decided to go along with it. That's why I used guanyu zhou even though I know zhou goes with zhou guanyu instead (and it feels kinda awkward typing that out since I'm used to zhou guanyu too). Anyway! I really love zhou's fashion style and his ig is so aesthetic like hhh He also seems like he is up to try something new considering he doesn't really stick to one style only. While the concept photo for GO生 is not too out of ordinary, I want to see him dressed in shiny jackets. It will be fun to put more details on the jacket to make it stand out more, especially if the jacket is already in bright colour like the red one seungmin wore in the photo. This can be a good look too! I think I will focus more on accessories or even hair styling like maybe one or two small braids? Either way, I think it will involve quite a lot of experimenting beforehand.

@skoulsons got me hooked on those apple sauce squeeze pouches, which helps satiate the oral fixation in a very satisfying way, but finding out a local brand has *six different* flavors at a store close by is....
I will never financially recover from this. đŸ« đŸ’€

Part 2
A soft breeze and warm sunlight trickled into the room through the open floor-to-ceiling doors leading out to your room's balcony. The sounds of the birds chirping outside and the busy city below created a peaceful atmosphere that soothed your soul as you lay stretched out on your bed, book in hand.
A noise akin to a purr escaped the lips of the fae male sprawled across your body, head resting gently on your stomach, as you combed your fingers through his luxurious midnight black curls. Your lips tilted up in an affectionate smile as you continued to soak up the words on your page. As you gently scraped your fingernails along his scalp, another deep groan elicited, leaving you giggling and your toes curling.
Sundays like this were your favourite. Slow, lazy and steady. Filled with quiet moments of simplicity. When Azriel wasn't busy off doing god knows what, god knows where, and you didn't have to attend any stuffy meetings or pour over lengthy negotiations and treaties as the emissary of the Night Court. When your mate could spend the day with you lounging in bed, just enjoying each other's presence.
"Why did you stop?" Az grumbled as you lifted your hand away from his head.
"I was turning the page, dummy." You chuckled at him.
"Well, hurry up."
"Big Illyrian baby," you cooed, a soft yelp leaving your lips when you felt Azriel gently bite down on the stretch of bare skin he was resting on. A satisfied sound left his lips—and caused your eyes to roll—when he felt your fingers back in his hair.
You, however, couldn't help the pulse of love and affection you sent down the bond when the next time you had to turn the page, one of his shadows appeared to do it for you.
Another chapter of your book was read before he spoke again, dispersing the soft, comfortable silence that had fallen between you. You had been convinced he had fallen asleep as you played with his hair.
"When do you go to the Court of Nightmares?" He mumbled against your skin, his lips pursing to kiss your hip quickly.
"Tomorrow." You sighed. It was your least favourite job as the official emissary, the one you dreaded doing every couple of weeks. Like Mor, you had been born under that particular mountain, crafted in its dark shadows, a dreamer bred to be a nightmare. It had taken years of wit and cunning to get to a position to meet the High Lord, years of barely surviving until you could petition him for a job—anything to get out of there.
"Do you want me to come with you?" He lifted his head slightly, his hazel eyes meeting yours. Silver nearly lined your eyes as you took in his soft, gentle expression. Azriel understood just how much going there took out of you. He knew that you would return home hollow and would require the rest of the night to be cooped up in bed with his arms around you.
He also recognised that you could absolutely do it alone. That you didn't need him beside you. You were strong enough to face your past head-on and would leave whatever meeting you were attending with Rhys and Feyre with the winning cards in your hand. But that didn't stop him from offering a comforting hand to hold throughout your time there.
"Please." You whispered. His lips stretched into a gentle smile as he lifted his body off you to scoot up the bed and press his lips to yours in a loving kiss.
"Of course, my love." And you knew that was that. No explanations, no words needed to be exchanged with Rhys. When it was time to travel to the Court of Nightmares, you would find your mate beside you, a reassuring hand in your own as he stood quietly beside you.
Azriel could see the tumultuous thoughts flitting across your brain, so he did the only thing he could. He bent down once again to press his lips to yours, pouring as much love and affection as he could down that beautiful, gleaming bond you shared.
Kissing Az never got boring, even after all these years together. He captured your bottom lip in his plush, slightly chapped lips, tugging slightly to elicit a soft groan from you, which he swallowed with his mouth. You lifted your arms to circle his neck, gently playing with the soft hairs there - your book long discarded and falling to the floor. He sighed against you as he wrapped his arms around your bare torso, pulling your chest flush against his as he deepened the kiss into something fiery that had a slow, dull ache beginning between your legs.
You could feel him against your inner thigh and smirked against his lips as you reached a finger towards his impressive wings and carefully dragged a fingernail along the underside of his right wing where they met his back, a spot you had discovered many years ago. A primal part of you stretched out in satisfaction as you felt Azriel shudder against you at the touch.
"So eager to go again, my love?" He teased, alluding to the several times he had already taken you that day as he gently nipped your skin before torturously slowly pressing open-mouthed, hot kisses along your jaw and down the column of your neck.
"Distract me, Az." You breathed, tipping your head back to expose even more of your delicate neck to him, groaning when you felt his canines skimming along your skin.
"With pleasure, sweetheart."

The noise was almost deafening, the room packed to the brim with politicians, courtiers, nobility and High Lords and their entourages. It was enough to overwhelm anyone, but Azriel watched from the edge of the room as you dazzled person after person, drifting from one group of fae to the next, completely and totally in your element.
You enjoyed nights like these when you got to flex the skills you had built up as an emissary to the Night Court, speaking to old friends, charming acquittances, and building friendships with those you had yet to meet. The beautiful deep black gown you wore also helped.
Azriel watched as you stood amongst courtiers from the Winter Court, catching up with some of the gossip from one of your allies. A flute of champagne dangled from your fingers; half drank as you tipped your head back to laugh at something one of your friends had said. The dress you wore tonight was some torture explicitly designed for him. It was sleeveless, showing off the delicate curves of your shoulders and dĂ©colletage, the high swell of your breasts threatening to spill over the top of your dress every time you drew breath. The slit that every now and then gave Azriel the view of the smooth curve of your leg was maddening. But what was true torture was the choker around your neck, encrusted with gems the same colour as his siphons—a reminder of where his hands had been last night.
He had almost sent a mental note to Rhys that the pair of you wouldn't be attending the party tonight when you had emerged from your bathroom and asked him to zip you up—favouring the idea of ravishing you right there and then. It was only the thought of watching you so expertly work the room, charming everyone so thoroughly, but knowing that only he had the privilege to take you home, that had him attending tonight.
As if you could hear his thoughts, your eyes drifted from the fae before you to lock eyes with your mate across the room. Matching smirks danced on your lips as he nodded at you, and you nodded back - an inside joke between the two of you started on that first official party you had been forced to attend when the mating bond was still so new.
A fire built in your body, beginning in your stomach and dipped lower and lower as you watched him push off the wall he had been leaning on and stalk towards you. He never once dropped eye contact, his shadows twirling before him and telling him where to step, creating a direct path to you.
You tracked him across the room, your skin burning from his gaze. When he stopped just in front of you, his shadows dispersed to dance among your skirts and play with the hair that cascaded down your back.
"Emissary." He greeted, bending his body into a tight bow whilst that playful smirk danced on his lips.
"Shadowsinger." You purred.
"Rhys has asked to see you urgently." The desire swirling in his hazel eyes made the grin on your lips widen as your stomach dipped in anticipation.
"Excuse me." You politely bowed your head to the people you previously held court with, dropping your now empty glass on a nearby table as you followed Azriel out of the room.
Your heels clacked on the beautifully tiled floor as you closed the distance between you and Azriel. You were still walking behind him but close enough to brush your hand against his. He turned his head slightly to smirk at you, and you felt his hand beside you curl and unfurl as he resisted the urge to touch you in front of everyone.
After moments of strutting through the House of Wind, you reached a part of the house away from the centre of the party, with fewer and fewer people milling around. It was only then that, with lightning-fast speed, Azriel's hand whipped out to grab yours and pull you into a shadowy alcove.
With firm hands, he pushed you against the wall, his shadows swirling to hide you from prying eyes, as one of Azriel's hands dropped to your hips and the other reached up to grip your neck. You groaned in delight at the feeling of his hands on you, the messy, feverish kisses he was now peppering along the bare skin of your neck, shoulder and collarbones.
"Az." You moaned as you felt his canines drag along that sensitive junction where your neck met your shoulder, his tongue following to soothe the slight sting.
"Fuck Y/N." He groaned into your skin, relishing in the way you tasted - so sweet. Even after years of being together, he would never get tired of tasting you, of his lips and tongue on your flesh, on your lips and in between your thighs.
"What if we get caught?" You managed to say, your chest heaving as you breathed heavily, hands gripping Azriel's broad shoulders tightly.
"That's never stopped you before, love." He teased as he ran his lips across the swell of your breasts, his touch feather-light, causing a shiver to run down your body and your eyes to roll to the back of your head.
The hand that was holding your hips in his grasp moved to slip under the slit of your dress, skimming down the curve of your leg, tracing over your knee and down your calf before wrapping around your thigh to lift it and hook it over his hips.
"You were torturing me out there, Princess." His voice had become deep and husky, and he elicited a groan from your lips as he was able to press his hips into yours with the new angle. Your body was set alight as you felt his straining erection through the material of his pants as he pushed into you.
"Looking delicious in that dress for everyone to see." His words caused molten lava to pool in your stomach, the throbbing at the apex of your thighs to become incessant, and the wetness gathering there began to drip down your thigh.
Anticipation curled in your stomach as you felt Azriel's hand travel from your thigh to your hip, skimming so lightly it was pure torture down your bikini line before reaching your swollen and slick sex - freezing when he realised he had unrestricted access.
"You've got to be kidding me, no underwear? Fuck you're killing me love." He groaned against your neck, roughly nipping at your jaw and causing a moan of your own to slip past your lips.
"All for you, Az." You whispered, throwing your head back against the solid wall behind you as he traced your slit, gathering the wetness pooling there.
"There they are." Rhys's unbothered drawl broke through the hazy atmosphere you were creating in your shadowy alcove, shattering the moment and causing you both to freeze.
"I knew those lovebirds hadn't gone far." Cassain chuckled from beside Rhys. You knew Azriel's shadows were keeping you covered, that they couldn't see anything and could only recognise you both because they knew how his shadows felt and what they looked like to the untrained eye.
"Piss off, Cass." Azriel snarled as he slowly extracted himself from you, carefully dropping your leg and trying to straighten your dress.
"Someone's cranky," Cassain teased, and you rolled your eyes as you watched Azriel's face turn into a murderous expression. Azriel was usually so calm and collected, not easy to rattle at all, except when it came to you.
"You know not to interrupt a male and his mate." You sighed as you gripped the front of the dress and tried to rearrange it over your chest. You noted the still-hungry look in Azriel's eyes as he watched your every move. A promise in his gaze that told you this wasn't over.
"If you wanted to enjoy each other's company in the hallway, that's totally up to you; we get it - looking beautiful as ever Y/N -," Rhys added as Azriel dropped his shadows once you looked presentable, "but we're doing a debrief in my office, and then you're all done for the night so you can move this to your bedroom if you wish
"
"We'll be there in 5 minutes," Azriel managed to grind out, his eyes still on yours, desperately trying to calm down.
"Is that all he lasts?" Azriel's eyes flared, and you knew Cassain had overstepped. You gave them both an eye roll, territorial fae bullshit.
"Cass," you warned as you heard your best friend chuckle at the snarl that ripped out of Azriel's mouth as he sauntered back down the hallway.

Azriel padded through the quiet hallway of the home he shared with you. His feet were cool as they touched the dark wood floor, a nice contrast to the heat pushing up against the windows from the summer sun outside. His shadows flitted and danced around him as they coaxed him to follow them, to follow them to her. His lips curled up in amusement at their behaviour as he neared the kitchen, where he could hear you humming and the soft sounds of you bustling around the kitchen.
He rounded the corner to lean on the doorframe; strong arms crossed over his bare chest as he took in the scene before him. His heart almost stopped dead at the sight of you standing at the large island in the middle of the room, mixing bowl in front of you and wooden spoon in hand, your glorious hair pulled half up into a messy bun tied at the back of your head - tendrils falling around your face and gleaming in the sun -, wearing nothing but one of his shirts.
A deep and primal part of him purred at the sight of you in his clothes, knowing that it was unlikely you had anything under that soft cotton. The fit was incredibly baggy on you, the hemline falling to your mid-thigh, the collar threatening to slip down your shoulder, and the sleeves so long you had had to roll them up. He delighted in being taller than you, bigger than you. A small part of him always soared when he bundled you up in his arms, being able to protect you with just his body. He knew, more than anyone, that you could handle yourself. In a tight situation, you could take down as many enemies as he could. But there was something so delightful about your body being so much smaller than his.
A soft melody slipped past your lips, and Azriel joined in as he pushed off the doorframe. Unable to contain the need to touch you any longer, he approached you. You jolted slightly at the feeling of his large, warm hands on your hips, and a soft yelp left your lips when you felt Azriel bury his head in your hair and press a chaste kiss to the skin of your neck.
"Morning, love," Azriel mumbled into your hair, breathing in your intoxicating scent.
"More like afternoon, babe; we spent all morning in bed!" you joked as you turned back to the task at hand.
"And whose fault is that." Azriel teased as he pulled away from your neck to reach around and gently nip at your earlobe, which sent a lick of fire straight to the apex of your thighs.
"Yours." You shot back, angling your head slightly to look at your mate.
"Hmm, I'm not so sure about that," he smirked, his beautiful hazel eyes dancing with mischief and desire as he dipped his head to press your lips in a searing kiss. Kissing Azriel was like this: all or nothing. Either his kisses were chaste, quick things meant to convey a simple hi or, more often than not, a quick acknowledgement of you during conversations or as you passed each other in corridors or hallways. His other types of kisses were slow, leisurely and utterly torturous, and he poured every ounce of love he had for you into them. His lips moved lazily with yours, licking across the seam of your lips and begging for entrance before licking into your mouth - your knees almost buckling at the intoxicating sensation and the fire burning in your body. He knew what he was doing, as was evident when he pulled away with a smirk on his lips, "what are you making?"
He grinned when he watched your eyes drift back into focus, your body slamming down to reality after a kiss that was so heady but given so casually.
"A lemon drizzle cake." You replied somewhat breathlessly, which made him chuckle, and you felt his chest rumble on your back.
"My favourite." He said as he returned to his spot behind you and wrapped his arms around your torso, bringing your back flush to his chest as you continued baking.
"I know, love." You softly spoke as you began to stir the mixture before you. Judging by the smile in your voice, he knew you were thinking of that moment a handful of years ago when you had both accepted the mating bond with a lemon drizzle cake.
It had been your first time to the Court of Nightmares since you had escaped and been made part of the Night Court. You had been secretly dreading it, knowing that your usual skill set as emissary would all fall apart in that place when your eyes would land on your family and those familiar snarling faces. And it had. Everything had gone to shit the moment your family had spotted you beside Rhys' throne and had smelt that mating bond on you. It had started with shouting and had escalated to your family barging their way up to the throne and threatening to gut you for turning into a whore.
Rhys had pulled rank and ordered everyone to leave, and you had been quickly winnowed to the safety of the townhouse, where everyone had rallied around you and tried to distract you. Rhys and Azriel had gone back to calm the situation and assess the aftermath. You had been cooped up in the arms of Cassain for the evening, a loving and supportive brother figure you had never had before. But deep down, you had wanted only one pair of arms around you to soothe you and remind you that your family do not dictate who you are.
Everyone had eventually retreated to bed, but you had stayed, needing to see him, knowing he would return at some god-forsaken hour. He had found you then when he winnowed to appear in the living room of the townhouse, curled up on a sofa in front of the fire with a book in your hand. At his appearance, you slowly put the book down to look at him.
The bond was newly snapped in place, but he could feel your emotions faintly and was so overwhelmed by the fact that you had stayed up for him that all he could think to say was, "Good book?"
He had watched fascinated as your lips curled into a soft smile, the first since the incident so many hours ago. "Couldn't put it down."
He chuckled lowly but didn't move from his spot as you slipped a bookmark into the page and popped it beside you, swinging your legs off the sofa to sit facing him.
"Az, I think we need to talk." He watched as you outstretched your hand, gesturing for him to come and sit with him.
His heart had sunk as he had walked over to you, joining you on the sofa. He knew you needed to talk about the mating bond and how you moved forward—you had been friends for so long, and he had been yearning for you since the first day he met you. And now he was terrified that you were about to reject the bond, reject him, and he was going to lose the woman he loved and the friendship he cherished with you all in one go.
"Y/N, you need to do the right thing for you - please don't accept something because you feel bad for me. We can work it out. I can perhaps get Rhys to station me in the Illyrian mountains so you can stay here, and I-"
"Respectfully, what the hell are you talking about, Az?" You stared, baffled, at the male before you as he rambled on. He couldn't look at you, and his expression conveyed such sadness.
"The logistics of you rejecting the bond—that's what you want to talk about, isn't it?" A bark of laughter left your lips, shocking him and causing him to snap his head up to look at you in confusion.
"Oh Az, no honey, that's not what I wanted to talk about," you softly said as you held one of his beautiful, scarred hands in one of yours and brought the other to cup his cheek. You watched, fascinated, as he internally debated whether to lean into your touch, "Stay here a second; I'll be back."
He watched, confused, as you flashed him a warm, comforting smile before dashing off the sofa and disappearing into the hallway outside the living room. The wait may have been seconds, minutes at most, but it felt like hours to Azriel. His heart had stopped dead when you returned, a dish in your hand in which a delicately decorated cake sat atop it. He watched keenly as you walked back to him, smiling sheepishly and nervously, and sat back beside him on the sofa.
"This is for you. I want to accept the mating bond." Those words, spoken so softly in the dead of night, in a house that had seen so much joy and heartache before, were enough to set Azriel alight. He had no words to describe the feeling that was coursing through him as he looked between you and the cake you held out towards him.
His hands moved on their own accord as he took the dish from you, noticing the sugar icing that had been meticulously drizzled onto the soft sponge and the sweet little decorative flower you had piped into the centre. Just from looking at it, he could tell you had baked this cake and poured every ounce of feeling into it, and he felt himself getting choked up at the thought.
"Are you sure?" He whispered, and the vulnerable look on that face was enough to break your heart.
"Yes. I have loved you for years, Az and the snapping of the bond in place made it seem as if the Mother and the Cauldron had finally listened to all those prayers I sent them. I baked this earlier to give it to you after we had returned from a successful meeting at the Court of Nightmares," his lips quirked ever so slightly at the sarcasm that dripped from your voice, "it may not be the moment I intended; but it's still perfect anyway. It's a larger version of those lemon sponges you love from that bakery we found last year. The owner gave me the recipe. I want you, Azriel."
Azriel had given up on finding his mate, resigned to always wondering. When you had crash-landed into his life a handful of years ago, he had silently hoped it would be you, and when he had tripped and fallen head-first in love with you, he had begun to beg that the mating bond would snap one day. So many years of yearning for you, unaware that you felt the same, that you were begging for it to be him as well. So many wasted years. And when the mating bond had finally snapped, when you had returned from a month-long summit at the Day Court and taken one look at him, he had almost fallen to his knees then and there.
He had finally found you, and you wanted him back. Words would come to him later, spoken against the soft sheets of your bed, in between feverish kisses and in the afterglow of what was to come, so for now, he held your gaze as he lifted the small slice you had cut for him and took a bite.
"Az, baby. I need to put the cake in the oven." Your words brought him out of the daydream he had been enjoying and back to the present moment. He chuckled and kissed your temple before unwinding from your body and taking a step back so you could move to put the cake tin in your hands and into the oven.
He leaned back against the counter as he watched you carefully manoeuvre it inside before triumphantly shutting the oven door and turning back to him with a satisfied smile.
"Come here." He held out his hand, a gesture so similar to the one you had given him all those years ago that a smile danced on both of your faces. You let him pull you against his chest, one of his hands falling to your hips and the other coming up to cup your cheek, his thumb gently brushing some flour that had somehow made its way to your face.
"Happy 10-year anniversary, love." You whispered into the gentle silence, and the shadowsinger gave you a beautiful smile.
"Happy 10 year anniversary, sweetheart." He whispered back as he closed the distance and gently pressed his lips to yours in a loving kiss that held 10 years of the most beautiful memories.

“Shhhh, baby. You gotta be quiet,” your husband rasps into your neck, his deep voice sending goosebumps loose all over your skin, as he licks a small strip up to your chin as he proceeds to nibble on your bottom lip. His warm, soft hands touching your skin which makes you feel like you're burning underneath him.
You clench your eyes together to try and make sense of all of the different sensations you’re currently feeling.
A strangled moan chokes its way out of the back of your throat as he angles his hips upwards to go in deeper as you instinctively wrap one of your legs around his waist to give him better access. Your hands touch his soft skin around his waist as you hold onto him, gripping tightly into his flesh.
Your bodies synching together like they always have. Even after all these years. No amount of time would ever come close to being enough. You’re always going to want more.
More. More. More.
Your husband steals your moans as he covers your mouth with his own, his lips moving against yours softly, and your arms wrap around his neck to pull him into you. One of your hands moves into his hair, tugging at the roots gently as his own hands move to grip onto your hips, and you both start moving together. Speeding up when you start feeling the familiar ache in your lower belly.
You both pull away from each other's necks, smiling when you both notice the same reflexes, and you reach up to kiss your husband's sweet mouth once more. His thrusting only grows rougher and deeper, but still moves with caution and it makes your entire body erupt in chills as you both moan into each other's mouth when you climax together.
Always together.
Your toes curl into the bed as your husband continues to thrust into you, spilling himself completely into your warmth, and you peck his lips a couple times as he leans his forehead against yours. Both letting out loud pants and small giggles. A cheeky grin overtakes his face as his eyelashes flutter against his creamy skin.
His beautiful silver eyes meet yours as he kisses the tip of your nose and then he slowly pulls out of you which makes you whine at the loss of contact and he flips down next to you. He chuckles deeply as he rubs his chest, which is moving rapidly as he comes down from his orgasm, and his fingers brush against your breast.
His fingers caress your naked skin around your chest, “God, I love you. I love how we’re still in sync even after all this time.”
“So do I,” you whisper back sweetly to him as you reach over to him to kiss his cheek, which makes him flush like he always does, and you slowly start getting off the bed. You use the bedside table to steady yourself as you stand up.
“It’s starting already?” He yells after you as you speed walk into the master bathroom that you are so incredible thankful for at this second because you feel like your bladder is about to burst.
“Shush,” you exclaim back with a giggle as you proceed to finally sit down on the toilet and have yourself a wee. Your entire body relaxes at the feeling and you look down at your protruding belly.
Three months to go.
You reach over to grab your belly oil and rub it all over your stomach as you relax for a second. You almost jump off the seat when you hear your husband's voice from the door.
“You’re a sight, my love.”
“Draco!” You exclaim with an eye roll as you watch him watching you. He stands against the bathroom door, leaning against it, still naked, and you let yourself take in his body in its full glory.
You take a minute to admire his muscular posture with his lean frame. You admire his creamy, milky skin which is covered in bruises. Which were caused by your mouth. Always leaving them everywhere because you absolutely loved to mark him up. You always made sure they were in places that could be hidden underneath his Auror robes.
He still brought up the one time you accidentally marked him above the collar mark and everybody teased him for weeks until it faded away. Especially since Draco never used glamour charms on his skin.
You admire his long legs with his equally long torso and you loved how tall he was. He always made you feel safe and secure in his arms. You lick your own lips as your eyes land on his valuable member.
Your stomach tingles as he slowly strokes himself, still a bit hard for your morning activities, and you let out a laugh.
“Stop it,” you demand as you clean yourself up and proceed to wash your hands. You stare at him from the mirror with a small smile.
“Stop what?” He questions with a smirk as he goes to the toilet to do his own business.
“I’m already pregnant with your sixth offspring because of that thing!” Your eyes looking wide at his cock in his hands.
Draco lets out a loud, belly laugh that makes the corner of his eyes crinkle as he cleans himself up. “Technically it’s only your fifth pregnancy!”
“Don’t act like you don’t absolutely love it,” he whispers as he places a big kiss into your warm cheek causing you to giggle again.
You leave him be as you walk into your shared walk in closet. You pull over a matching pair of baby blue knickers and a soft bralette. You wiggle your way into your comfiest pair of black leggings and soft knit white jumper. You slip your feet into your fuzzy gray slippers and start making your way down the hallway. Your ears are perking up trying to hear any signs that your kids are up.
You start making breakfast the muggle way, thanks to Hermoine for teaching you, and you’re humming along to a song when the first sign of life invades your senses.
You feel small hands sneak up on your belly as you smile brightly, pausing as you mix the eggs, and look down at bright gray eyes looking up at you.
“Good morning, mummy!” Your little five year old daughter, Aries, whispers as she shows off her bright toothy smile.
You bend to kiss her forehead as she giggles, “Good morning, my little angel. Where’s your brother?”
She rubs your belly lightly as she then skips to her usual chair around the family table, “Brushing his teeth, mummy.”
“Did you brush yours already?” You ask with a raised eyebrow and she giggles even louder.
“Duh, mummy!!”
Right on time, Aries' twin brother Phoenix, comes running down the hallway.. excessively loud and giggling as your oldest ten year old son, Scorpius is chasing after him. Your seven year old, Leo, is walking behind them slowly. Yawning and rubbing his eyes lazily as he trails into his seat at the table as he moans out a good morning to you and blows you an air kiss.
“Be careful!!” You yell after them as Aries only watches them with a smile on her face as you continue cooking breakfast. You hear louder footsteps as Draco comes into the kitchen, ready for the day in his Head Auror robes, and holding your three year old daughter in his arms.
He reaches you, pecking your lips sweetly as if you didn’t just spend the morning wrapped around him, and lets you kiss Lyra’s soft cheek as she smiles at you. Her tiny hand touches your hair slightly.
Her eyes that match yours watch you as Draco walks away from you and tries to wrangle up all the kids for breakfast before he has to leave for work.
The kids are all yelling, moving, and proceeding to sit in their favorite seats. You and Draco proceed to move in sync together as you both gather plates for the kids. Moving to fill each with cut up pancakes, scrambled eggs, cut up strawberries, and each kid getting their favorite drinks. You quickly make Lyra a yogurt bowl with extremely small slices of strawberries on the side and a cup of her favorite milk.
Bumping hips and sneakily smiling at each other.
Draco starts handing each one of your shared kids their own special plate and drink as you make your own plate along with your husbands.
You set the plates down as you hand Draco’s hot coffee that’s under a stasis charm as he hands you a thankful smile and passes you your own cinnamon tea in your mug.
The room is soon filled with loud children talking.  Scorpius and Leo arguing about what to do today after daddy gets home. Debating on if they should play quidditch or have a family movie night since it’s Friday. Which means daddy gets the weekend off. Aries and Phoenix are munching on their breakfast loudly and making silly faces at each other which causes them to giggle excessively at each other. Lyra sits in her high chair as she observes her siblings with a silly little smile on her face and trying her best to eat her yoghurt with her tiny pink spoon.
Draco feeds her small bites of his own pancakes as Lyra happily accepts them.
“What are your plans today, baby?”
You hum as you finish your bite of food, “Hermoine and Pansy are coming over today. They say they want help with the wedding planning, but I think they’re having godchildren withdrawal.”
Draco snickers at that with a slight eye roll, “Of course they are. Our children are the best.”
You smile at him, “So, Pansy told Theo and now he’s coming over with the kids as well.”
Draco nodded his head, “I’m sure Potter is happy about that.”
“Anything to get Theo away from his nesting habits and begging Harry for another baby,” you say with a soft smile as you think of your best friends.
Draco scoffs and rolls his eyes playfully, “I’m sure his baby fever will end once he sees your pregnant belly and our adorable Lyra. Didn’t they just adopt baby Sirius?”
“Baby Sirius is going to be four already! Then Lily and James are already Scorpius age. Theo is just scared of empty nesting, but Harry says he wants to wait until this big case he’s dealing with passes.”
Draco hums in agreement, “I wish we were like that.” And he proceeds to give you a soft teasing smile.
You poke him with your fork and shake your head, “We have kids basically every two years, these twin girls are the last ones!” You eye him with an authoritative look.
“Anything you say, my love.”
“Do you think Hermoine and Pansy will ever adopt or have kids of their own?” You ask as you watch Lyra to make sure she’s eating. Draco doesn’t miss the tone of your voice at your question.
“You’ve noticed the way Hermoine looks at your belly, huh?”
“I have,” you reply softly. “It’s just.. Pansy always says she’s okay with just being a godmother, but ‘Min
” you trail off with a sad smile.
Draco reaches over to your hand and squeezes, “I understand, trust me. Maybe get a second with Granger and just talk to her about what we’ve noticed.”
“Maybe. I don’t want to overstep,” you say as you sip your drink. Scorpius is the first one that finishes eating and he quickly thanks you for breakfast with a kiss on your cheek as he moves to start washing the dishes. You admire your first born for a second and can’t help but love how much he looks like his father and how big he’s gotten.
The same milky white skin with bright pale hair and even with the same matching gray eyes. His exact copy. Oh, you can’t help but tear up at how much you love your first baby boy. The first baby that made you a mother and taught you about a mothers love.
The one who made you want a million more babies.
Leo and Phoenix soon start helping clean up the plates as Draco helps Lyra get cleaned up. Aries helps him as you use your magic to clean up the table and Lyra’s high chair.
You hum in contentment as you proceed to kiss the cheeks of all your kids. Scorpius blushes, Leo kisses you back, Phoenix and Aries giggle, and Lyra pulls you in to attack you with kisses and hugs. Draco soon jumps into all the loving before he has to floo to work.
Draco piles all the kids into his arms as he squeezes them into his arms and then tells them to go play before their cousins come over.
He gently pulls you into his arms as one of his hands slips underneath your jumper to rub your belly as he kisses your lips sweetly. The feeling of his lips on your sends sparks all over your body like it always does and you savor his taste.
“I love you,” you whisper into him as he smiles against your lips.
“I love you more,” he whispers back with a couple more pecks against your smiling mouth.
“Be careful and I’ll see you soon,” you kiss your lips one more time as he steps into the fireplace.
“Always am, my love. And I’ll be counting down the minutes,” he says with a wink as he grabs a handful of floo powder and calls out his location. He bursts into green flames and your hearing soon fills with the sounds of your children’s giggles and loud voices playing together.
You take a moment to take it all in.
Loving the same boy
 now man for as long as you can remember. The amazing life you both have built. It was never easy and there have been many hardships, but it was incredibly worth it.
What a beautiful life you both had built slips into your mind as you smile to yourself in pure bliss.

The clock on the wall ticked quietly, a soft sound that somehow seemed louder in the silence of the apartment. The hour hand had long since crept past midnight, but you stayed where you were--curled up on the couch, knees pulled to your chest, a forgotten book spread open in your lap. This is where you had been for an amount of time that you were embarrassed to admit.
The words on the page blurred together, your eyes tracing the same sentence for the fifth time. You weren't really reading. Not anymore.
The sound of Spencer's footsteps broke the relative quiet as he appeared out of the darkened hallway. You didn't need to look up to know he was watching you, a concerned crease in his brow and sleep tousling his hair. You could feel his gaze--soft, searching and damningly knowing.
"You're still awake." It wasn't a question.
You shifted, turning the page like you were engrossed in the story, even though you hadn't absorbed a word. When you glanced up at him, you shot him a smile--a practiced one that didn't quite reach your eyes.
"Couldn't sleep."
Spencer didn't say anything right away, but you could hear him moving closer, the creaking weight of his steps seeming hesitant--like he wasn't sure whether you wanted company or space.
You weren't sure either.
The thought of him sitting next to you wrapped around your lungs like a too-tight band, the way it always did when someone got too close. And yet, the thought of him staying away constricted something deeper, something you weren't sure you could name.
Finally, the corner of the couch dipped as he sat beside you, close enough for the invisible wall you had built to feel less solid. It felt like something similar to sunlight filtering through a curtain's tear.
"What's on your mind?"
You blinked, fingers picking at the worn edges of the book's pages as if they might pull apart and reveal something you weren't able to put into words.
"Nothing." You said it too quickly. Brittle. Then, because you could feel his eyes on you--seeing through you--you added, "It's silly, really. Just overthinking.
You tried to make it sound dismissive, punctuating it with a small laugh that you were sure came out quiet and hollow. "You don't need to worry about me, Spence. I'm fine."
"Fine," he repeated softly, like the word tasted wrong on his tongue.
His voice was so gentle, but you could feel every last bit of unspoken concern wrapped inside it, the way it always was when you said you were fine. You hated that--hated that he could see through the cracks you worked so hard to hide. You wanted to tell him it was better this way, safer for both of you. You didn't want to scare him or worse drag him into the parts of yourself that felt sharp and broken.
You could almost hear the wheels turning in his head, cataloging your body language, the way your smile faltered, the way you fidgeted with the book like you needed to keep your hands busy to avoid cracking open.
Spencer tilted his head, continuing to study you, but he didn't call you out on the lie. He never did--not directly. Instead, he adjusted his posture, sinking further into the couch like he intended to stay.
"What are you reading?" He nodded towards the book in your lap.
You glanced at the cover and felt the heat creep up your neck.
"Oh, um... something I grabbed off the shelf earlier." You flipped it shut, careful not to let him see how little progress you'd actually made. "It's good. Just... taking my time with it."
It was such a small thing to lie about, but you were clinging to any shred of normalcy. You didn't want him to see this version of you--the one who stared blankly at pages, lost in spirals you couldn't quite explain.
"That's okay, you know," Spencer said quietly. "Taking your time."
You knew he wasn't talking about the book, not really. Before you could deflect, his hand moved gently across the space between you, his fingertips brushing up and down the length of your arm.
The touch was so soft--barely there--but it distracted you. You exhaled, a breath you hadn't realized you were holding, and let your eyes flutter shut for just a moment. It had been so long since you let yourself be in his presence, let yourself lean into him without pulling away.
“Did you know that depression physically changes the brain,” Spencer said suddenly, his voice low and conversational, like he was talking about a science fact and not you. “It affects the hippocampus, the amygdala—the areas responsible for regulating memory, emotion, and stress.”
You swallowed, opening your eyes again, fingers still fussing with the book. “Spence
”
He continued, his tone gentle, as though he were easing you into the truth. "The hippocampus actually shrinks during prolonged depression. That's the part of the brain responsible for processing memories, for distinguishing between what's important and what's not. That's why it feels so hard to concentrate. Why sometimes everything feels... too much, even the little things."
You stilled under his touch, gaze focused on the closed book. The words he was saying were clinical, sure, but the way he was saying it made your heart clench.
"And the amygdala?" he continued. "It's the emotional center of the brain. In people with depression, it becomes overactive, and the body starts reacting to stress like it's always in fight-or-flight mode. Even when there's no threat. Even when you're safe."
Spencer paused, letting the words sink in, his fingers tracing slow, soothing lines down your arm. You could feel him watching you, but you couldn't look at him yet. You weren't sure you wanted him to see the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes.
“I’m not trying to analyze you,” he added quickly. “I know it probably sounds like that. But I'm telling you this because I want you to understand that it's not all in your head."
He hesitated, then nudged you gently, his hand squeezing your arm as if to reinforce his words. "This isn't some character flaw or something you've invented. Your brain--your body--feels this, physically. It's real."
You blinked, and the first tear fell. His words cracked something inside you--not because they hurt, but because you hadn't realized how badly you needed to hear them.
"It's like..." Spencer searched for the right words, brow furrowing. "It's like being stuck in a room with a broken thermostat. You're freezing, and everyone else is telling you it's warm because they can't feel what you feel. But just because they can't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. You're not imagining the cold."
"You're not a problem that needs solving," he murmured. "You're not too much. You're enough, exactly as you are."
Something snapped in your chest--sharp, small, and unexpected.
"I'm not trying to save you," Spencer continued, like he could sense the thought forming on your tongue. "I just... I want you to let me stand beside you. Even if it's messy. Even if it's hard."
You sniffled, swiping quickly at the tear trailing down your cheek, and glanced up at him with a small, wobbly smile.
"Even if it's messy?" Your voice trembled slightly, but the hint of a laugh broke through--soft and fragile, like glass. "You hate messes."
Spencer's lips quirked into a smile, and for a moment, the tension in the room shifted. The air felt a little lighter.
"That's true," he admitted. "But I'll make an exception. For you."
You let out a watery laugh, the sound catching somewhere in your throat, and it startled you--how good it felt to laugh, even through tears. Spencer smiled wider, like seeing that microscopic spark of light in you was enough.
He shifted closer than, his hand sliding from your arm to cradle your cheek, his touch soft and careful, as though he were afraid you might pull away. "Even if it's messy."
And then he kissed you--soft and slow, his lips brushing yours with infinite gentleness, as though he were trying to tell you everything he couldn't express aloud. For a heartbeat, you tensed. The instinct to pull back, to close yourself off, flared up like it always did. But Spencer didn't push; he simply stayed, giving you a choice.
So you let yourself lean into him.
The tension melted from your shoulders as you kissed him back, the faint taste of salt lingering between you where tears still clung to your lips. His hand stayed against your cheek. When he finally pulled back, his forehead resting against yours, you finally let out a shaky breath you hadn't realized you'd been holding.
"Do you want to go to bed?"
You glanced at the book still resting on your lap. The Bell Jar. Your hand hovered over the book's spine, the instinct to cling to it, but you let your hand fall away.
"Yeah," you said softly.
The book stayed on the couch, closed, forgotten as you rose from the couch and let him guide you toward the bedroom.
And maybe, just maybe, the glass was beginning to crack.

Of Cheesecakes and Love
Day 11 of @bucktommyfluffebruary | Double Date | 1,393 words | on ao3
Thank you @fuselsstuff for all the support. I appreciate you đŸ„čđŸ«¶đŸ»đŸ’•
The restaurant they were in was small and cozy, the space adorned with twinkling lights, soft colors and rustic fixtures, giving it a familiar and inviting atmosphere. Tonight, it was filled with the gentle tones of an instrumental ballad, the low chatter of conversations and the soft clinks of silverware meeting plates.
Tommy sat next to Evan, with Chimney and Maddie across from them. They were already well into a bottle of wine, each of their glasses at varying levels of fullness as they settled comfortably into conversation, enjoying their night off, free from the stresses of their jobs.
Despite the ample space at the table, Evan leaned into Tommy, close enough that their shoulders brushed with every small movement. Tommy rested a hand on Evan’s knee beneath the table, idly stroking circles against it.
Every so often, he’d glance at Evan and catch him already looking back. Each time their eyes met, Evan would smile widely before diving back into whatever argument he had going with Howie.
As Evan argued the importance of walking barefoot, he absently reached for Tommy’s hand beneath the table.Their fingers found each other easily, slotting in a way that was completely effortless for them—like second nature. Tommy smiled softly, giving Evan’s hand a small squeeze before bringing it up to his lips and pressing a lingering kiss against his knuckles, fully aware of how much it always affected Evan.
And right on cue, Evan faltered mid-sentence, slightly stuttering over his explanation before entirely giving up on it. He blinked at Tommy before pouting, “okay, that’s not fair.”
Tommy cocked his head to the side, feigning ignorance. “What?”
Evan huffed, pinching Tommy’s hand lightly in retaliation. “You know what,” he said accusingly.
Tommy chuckled, thoroughly enjoying the pink climbing up Evan’s ears. He leaned in slightly, murmuring just for him, “You’re cute when you get flustered.”
Evan groaned, ducking his head, but his happy smile gave him away.
Tommy was so taken with Evan he almost missed the amused looks they were getting from across the table.
Maddie watched them knowingly. Howie, on the other hand, groaned.
“You two are disgustingly sweet.” he declared, shaking his head in mock dismay. “Maddie and I have never been this bad.”
Maddie snorted. “Oh, I beg to differ. We were the cutest.”
“Yeah,” Evan added with a grin. “I seem to recall a few nauseating moments.”
Maddie shot Evan a pointed look while Chimney scoffed. “Hey. That’s slander.”
Evan only shrugged impishly, before shifting even closer into Tommy’s space, Tommy turned his head and pressed a slow, lingering kiss to Evan’s forehead—partly because he always wanted to, partly because he loved the dazed expression Evan always wore afterward, and mostly to mess with Howie.
Evan barely contained his grin before Maddie clasped her hands together and cooed, “Awwww.”
Evan groaned, cheeks turning pink again. “Maddie, stop.”
Tommy just chuckled, entirely unbothered, squeezing Evan’s knee under the table, before settling his hand on his boyfriend’s thigh. He enjoyed the way Evan all but melted under his touch, watching as he tried to wave off the teasing but was clearly eating up every second of it.
He liked seeing Evan like this—cheeks flushed, eyes twinkling and a bright smile on his face.
Evan tilted his head, catching the way Tommy was looking at him. “What?”
Tommy just shook his head, a smile playing at his lips. “I love you”
Evan ducked his head, smiling softly. “I love you too.”
Maddie sighed happily. “Aren’t they adorable?”
Chimney rolled his eyes. “Actually, I’m losing my appetite.” But he couldn’t hide how pleased he was for them.
They all laughed, falling back into easy conversation, sharing stories and reminiscing.
At some point, Chimney excused himself to the bathroom.
Tommy had been enjoying the last few bites of their dessert, but now he was left with a disappointingly empty plate, his fork pushing at the last remnants of caramel drizzle.
Evan, of course, noticed. “You want another one?”
Tommy’s knee-jerk reaction was to say no, briefly thinking of previous relationships that had been overly critical of his love of sweets. “I’m good.”
Evan leveled him with a knowing look. “Tommy.” He was getting good at seeing past Tommy’s reactions, understanding them.
Still, Tommy tried to fake nonchalance. “What?”
But Evan wasn’t having it. He leaned in, his lips ghosting over Tommy’s ear as he murmured, “I love you, but you’re a terrible liar.”
Tommy huffed, about to protest when Evan suddenly grabbed his chin and kissed him—slow and sweet. It was just a soft press of his lips but it stole the words right from his mouth.
By the time Evan pulled back, Tommy had lost his train of thought.
Evan, brat that he was, smirked—brushing his thumb across Tommy’s cheek. “Babe, it’s okay if you want another. I’ll be right back.”
Tommy sighed, warmth spreading through him. He was incredibly touched at the way Evan always eased his worries—the way he helped him fight against the hurts of his past without even knowing it.
As he watched Evan walk away, all he could think was, I’m completely gone for this man—and he was very okay with that.
Maddie didn’t bother pretending she hadn’t been watching them as she sipped her wine. She wore a small, pleased smile as if she were watching her favorite movie
“I’m glad you two worked things out.”
Tommy lowered his gaze, stomach dropping at the thought of the breakup. Suddenly, he was afraid Maddie would reproach him for what he’d done—for breaking her little brother’s heart. And he’d deserve it. His fingers toyed nervously with the edge of the tablecloth as he braced himself for it. But, it never came. He looked up at her, only to find a gentle smile on her lips and a twinkle in her eyes so similar to Evan’s.
He exhaled hard. “I really love him.”
“I know.”
Tommy hesitated before adding, “I didn’t mean to hurt him
before.”
Maddie reached across the table, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. “We never do.” She paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. “But, what matters is—you came back, and you stayed. And you’re showing Evan that you love him every single day.”
They shared a quiet, understanding look—two people who had hurt and been hurt, yet had still somehow found their way back to love.
“You trying to move in on my wife, Kinard?” Chimney’s joking voice sounded from behind him as he sat at the table again. His eyes darted between them in mock suspicion.
“After I trusted you,” he said, shaking his head dramatically.
“Yes, Howie. We were just planning on running away together,” Tommy answered dryly.
Chimney sighed. “Unbelievable.”
Just then, Evan returned, sliding into his seat. He placed a plate with caramel cheesecake in front of Tommy, grinning proudly.
“Who’s running away?” he asked, glancing between them in confusion.
Chimney gestured vaguely. “Our dear partners are planning an escape together.”
Evan hummed as though giving it real thought. Then with an easy grin, he shrugged. “Nah. Tommy’s not leaving me. I got him dessert.”
Tommy chuckled, offering Maddie an apologetic look. “Sorry, Maddie. He’s got a point. Evan knows the way to my heart.”
Maddie laughed. “Can’t be mad about that.” She turned to Chimney, raising an eyebrow. “And what about you?”
Chimney scoffed, placing a hand over his chest. “What—you want me to bribe you? My undying devotion isn’t enough?”
Maddie laughed. “Oh, come here, you,” she said, pulling Chimney into a kiss.
Evan pulled a face at that but then switched his attention to Tommy. “How's the cheesecake?”
Tommy picked up his fork, cutting a small piece before offering it to Evan, loving the way his eyes lit up at the gesture. It had become their thing. Evan wasn’t a huge fan of desserts so they always chose to share. And without fail, Tommy always gave him the first taste.
Evan closed his eyes and let out a small moan at the taste.
Tommy knew his expression had to be fond—completely in love.
Evan’s eyes opened, his face softening as he looked at Tommy.
“Perfect,” he murmured.
Yes, thought Tommy, as he took his own bite.
Perfect.
Just like the night.
Like this family.
Like the man beside him.
Like them.

Hii!! Can you do Jane x reader where she’s Jane’s mate but still human. One day some important information gets leaked out and everyone in the volturi thinks the reader leaked the info. (Aro can’t read her mind) So they question her for a long time and when she still says that she didn’t do it they make Jane torture her with her power. As Jane is torturing her someone walks in and says that she didn’t do it. By the time Jane stops the reader is passed out. Everyone and mostly Jane regrets what they’ve done. The reader doesn’t wake up for a few days and Jane is in absolute sorrow. And when she finally wakes up she doesn’t even look Jane in the eyes bc of the betrayal she feels. Just a lot of angst yk:))) Buuut they make up in the end. Thank youuuđŸ«¶đŸ»
A/N: Hi and first of all love this idea. I kind of made this longer than intended and I left it guite open ended but I hope you like it and you don't mind I changed it a bit. Once again Jane is the movie version of the character!!!
-S
+800ish words.
CW: I mean Jane tortures Reader. Heavy angst.
Tumblr media
Your relationship had been a struggle for a long time. You were still a human and now you were moved to Volterra to live with the vampire royalty. It was all so much, but so was your blossoming love for Jane. Your dear Jane. Jane whose main priority in life was protecting the kings and working. It was all that she had ever known, and you couldn’t even blame her for that. But Jane had started to open up to you as time went on. She talked to you about the most mundane things in her life but in truth you could have listened to her for hours.
Aro hadn’t loved the idea of Jane finding her mate. He was so protective of the girl that he had found hundreds of years ago. And you didn’t make this protectiveness any easier. Quickly Aro had found out that his powers didn’t work on you. Reason for this wasn’t clear but after a bit of convincing Aro accepted you to move to Volterra to get to know Jane better.
“My love...” Jane had the voice of an angel and that was the only thing that could wake you up from your sleep without making you pissed off.
You let out a non-committal groan and opened your eyes.
“I’m sorry but I need to go to work. There has been a problem...” Jane being evasive made you sit up in worry.
“What’s wrong?”
“I can’t talk about it yet, just stay here until I get back, okay?”
You didn’t have time to answer until your mate had left the room leaving you alone on the cold bed.
With a bit of hesitation, you laid back down and slowly fell back asleep.
~~~
You woke up with your room door being slammed open. Two guards that you didn’t know walked in and didn’t give you any time before ripping you from the bed and dragged you out of the room.
You begged for some sort of explanation. Anything that made you understand why you were being dragged to the lower levels of the castle... The levels where you weren’t allowed to go. The levels where Jane had to work sometimes, leaving her exhausted as a vampire can be.
You were thrown into a small simple room, with a tiny table, chair and a bed, if you could call a mattress with a pillow a bed.
It was a while before you saw anyone but when you finally saw a person you didn’t assume it would be Jane. Your dear Jane.
“Jane! My love! What’s going on?!” You asked, hurrying to the door trying to reach your love.
“Don’t..., I know what you did.”
The love that you had come so used to was gone from her eyes. Her eyes were pooling with venom and her eyes were dark and sad.
“What are you talking about?” You asked while feeling the anxiety rising up to the surface.
“Don’t play dumb! You were the only one I told about the plans! Aro was read everyone's minds already! It has to be you so just admit it please!”
Jane’s yells bounced off the walls and for the first time looking at her you didn’t see your love. You saw a terrified and angry young woman, who could case you more pain than you could ever imagine. Was this what most people saw when looking at your mate? Danger? Pain?
“Are you talking about the Romanians? Is this all about that!”
Jane had told you about Aro’s plan to kill the rest of the Romanian coven, but all the details she had told you were now erased from your mind by time.
“Yes, it is, so just confess!” Your normally calm Jane, she was panicking.
You didn’t have anything left to say. You were confused, scared, angry..., alone. Your only ally in the castle, your dear Jane, had left you.
“Okay..., if that’s what you want...,” Jane’s words were ominous, and your stress level rose to the roof.
Then the pain started. The pain that Jane had promised you would never feel. The blinding, fiery pain. You couldn’t feel your body anymore, it was just pain. Until it all went away...
~~~
You finally opened your eyes. You woke up back in your bed and for a second it all seemed like a bad dream. You took a deep breath letting yourself sink into the mattress. But your peace was interrupted when you took a look around the room.
Jane was curled into a corner of the room, eyes glued to you. Her sad eyes. Her black eyes pooled with venom.
You couldn’t look at her, not right now at least, so you got up from the terribly comfortable bed and walked straight to the bathroom locking it behind you.
You looked like death. Tired and angry, but you couldn’t do anything about that just yet.
“I’m really sorry..., you have to believe me, my love. We really thought that it was you...” Jane’s words behind the door didn’t make you feel any better. And to make sure you didn’t lash out you stayed quiet. You had all the right to be quiet after screaming your throat raw.
~~~
although you and hyun soo did it for a couple of times only, you didn’t expect to be pregnant. and you only found out about it after he surrendered to the military.
eun yoo was the only person who knows about it. she took good care of you in the stadium and looks after you. she never told anyone about it. as your younger sister.
you had a hard time being a pregnant woman even though you had no bump, you can still feel the baby inside. and missing your older brother only adds up in coping.
a couple of months passed by in the stadium and eun yoo going out because of chief ji’s orders. she found hyun soo.
she saw him with another baby. she was furious, so she rushed towards him and slapped him informing that you’re having a child. not even caring about their reunion.
she thought he had found someone else and had another baby.
but that wasn’t the case.
after a long explanation, eun yoo finally understood and took him to the stadium. she told him to wait outside in secret and she’ll get you outside.
and there, he finally saw you. crying in tears, yet still beautiful.
throwing your whole body into his, you interlocked your lips with him, and muttering ‘i miss you’ and ‘i love you’
no words can explain how much you long for him and same goes with him as well.
he decided to take you to somewhere else. you tried reaching out to eun yoo, to take her as well but she declined.
she still have unfinished business int he stadium so you had no choice but to let her be. she promised to visit you, soon.
you’re giving birth already. a few weeks just passed since you decided to live with hyun soo. thankfully, yi kyung and her daughter ah yi, as well as eun yoo was there to help you.
yi kyung who had experienced giving birth decided for you to do water birth. so, there you are currently screaming and suffering in a pool hyun soo got you.
you successfully gave birth to a baby boy. you and hyun soo named him ‘cha hyuk jae’
having a neohuman baby who has the ability to turn anything into solid rocks is crazy. although it can’t affect hyun soo, who is a neohuman himself, it could affect you.
you two decided to make him wear gloves.
hyun soo already has experience in raising a child, so him being your child’s father is the best things.
you love seeing both of them together and even with ah yi, who visits you and your child frequently.
then there is eun soo who also adore your child, often visits you already.
the three of them helps you with hyuk jae always.
due to hyuk jae being a neohuman, he’s growing fast, in just a couple of months, he’s already grown into a one year old kid.
with the ability to walk and speak already. he’s the cutest.
every time it’s his nap time, hyun soo would always prepare for his story time. it has become part of their bonding. never did you once read a story for him.
you only wish for two things, it is to grow up like his gentle father and for your brother to meet your kid.
It’s your birthday, April 29th.
Rain is soaking through your dress, the drenched fabric clinging to your skin, wet strands of your hair sticking to your forehead. Unfamiliar lips are pressed against yours. You don’t remember the last time you’ve felt this happy.
You’re supposed to meet your fiancĂ© for dinner tonight. When you call him, you’re already seated at the table, waiting for him to meet you there.
“Give me a break,” he sighs at your demand for an explanation, “I’m sure you’ll find someone else to buy you dinner.”
“Excuse me?”
“You know what I mean. None of those guys from your office available tonight?”
“Fuck you.”
You slam the phone back onto the table, swallowing down the angry tears that are starting to well up in your eyes. You have been dealing with his unreasonable bouts of insecurity and jealousy because you’re working in a male-dominated field for way too long. You had hoped that he would get over it eventually, but it had rather gotten worse, mixed with remarks about how he made more money than you and how thankful you should be that he took care of you.
After staring down at the table for a few moments, you pick your phone back up again. If this is what he thinks of you any way, you might as well give him a reason to.
“Hey. Can you come and pick me up, please?”
Of course Dave could. You’re often assigned cases together, are often huddled up in the office when it’s already dark outside and your colleagues have gone home. You like working with him, like how quiet but straightforward he is, how he understands your way of thinking. You like him.
You’ve been out for drinks before, to celebrate successfully solved cases, but nothing more, no matter how many times he hinted at being interested in more. Because you’re not that kind of woman, despite what your fiancĂ© apparently thinks.
Until now. It’s your birthday and you’re gonna spend it with someone who actually likes being around you.
When you walk out of the restaurant, he’s waiting for you, his brow furrowed in concern, immediately asking if you’re alright. You nod, mumbling something about a change of plans, nothing to worry about. You can tell that he doesn’t buy it.
He’s walking you down the block to his car, one hand at the small of your back. You feel yourself melting into him and his calming presence beside you, into the self-assured way he’s taking charge.
Neither of you had expected the sudden downpour, soaking the both of you to the bone within seconds. You stop in your tracks, staring at him in surprise for a second, before you burst out laughing.
You stumble over your own feet as you try to keep walking and instinctively grab his arm. He turns in your direction and steadies you, an amused smirk on his face, his hands a heavy weight on your hips, his touch burning into you.
You lean in and kiss him before your mind catches up with your actions. He stills for only one moment before his lips start moving against yours with a caressing urgency that makes your heart clench with longing.
Your hands cling to him, to his shirt underneath your fingers that’s just as drenched as your clothes, to the broadness of his shoulders that’s sending a rush of excitement through you. The absurdity of the whole situation makes you giggle against his mouth and you feel the rumble of his own laugh more than you hear it while his arms are wrapping tighter around your waist.
You don’t care that you’re in the middle of the sidewalk, that rain is still pouring down on you, that this is not the man that you’ve agreed to marry.
Because when you open your eyes, he’s already looking at you, the lights of the city reflecting in his dark pupils, like constellations that you want to get lost in. For the first time in forever, you feel seen. Your fingers burrow into his hair and you pull him closer again, connecting your lips with his once more.
When you reach his car, he opens the door for you and asks if he can take you home with him. You say yes.
None of it feels real, but you feel more alive than you’ve felt in a long time.
To the anon asking about money so much. The so called money can happen in whichever way you want.
If youre anything like "my" bundle of thoughts you're in the part of infinity that likes to keep a smooth narrative. I woke up one day and instead of being relatively broke my coinbase account had $278k and I also had like $1.2 million in my brokerage account, as well as $12k in my regular bank account. I still had my apparent regular job, house, context, just more money. I did write all this down one night and decided Id wake up with such. Tbh, it's a non event and I no longer experience a bundle of thoughts that needs SUCH a smooth apparent narrative. This is just an example for you. Money is actually boring now...but I feel you and yes it is possible to "dream up" money in whichever way you want. You don't do it with your thoughts though...it's all like this imprint "within" so go within and find that "imprint" that is your entire "dream" imprint = that, " "
Also, don't even think about it from the bottom - up, this is a top - down thing. Everything works it self out accordingly. Dont bother with what "others" will think, it'll all work itself out from the top to the bottom. "You" are at the top...the rest is just a dream.
Thank you for your insights and great explanation, anonđŸ«¶đŸ» I love the way you phrased things, it’s really refreshing :D the expression “bundle of thoughts“ makes so much sense also it’s really cute somehow?
I've got a question if you wouldn't mind answering!
I saw that the voice actor for Grim commented that Grim always ends his phrases with the word "zo", I was wondering if it had any meaning? Or if maybe it's just something to make his character more unique? Similarly, I've noticed Ruggie tend to use a lot of "su" at the end of his phrases, and I was wondering the same thing, if it had any meaning at all or if it's just supposed to be a character quirk!
Ty for your hard work and don't feel pressured to answer this if you don't want to! đŸ«¶đŸ»
Hello hello! Thank you very much, you are so kind! ^^
Yes yes, Grim's Sugiyama comments on how difficult Grim's "zo" was for him in his interview (published in vol. 1 of the fanbook).
"Zo" can have a meaning of its own (I liked this explanation on jlptsensei.com, for those who may be curious), but it is generally not used in the way that Grim is using it đŸ± He adds it just to everything!
Tumblr media
And verbal ticks like this come up a lot in all kinds of Japanese-language media! Videos games, manga, anime, TV dramas, comedians, etc.
Tumblr media
Ruggie's "su" is also kind of a verbal tic, and also has its own meaning:
Discussed in more detail in another post (ref: Idia's "degozaru"), the Japanese language has the word "desu," which has different forms depending on how polite you want to be!
Tumblr media
Grim and Jade use the word in two of its more normal (least slang-like) ways, casual for Grim (da) and more polite for Jade (desu).
Ruggie is also using it in a casual way, dropping the "de" part and only using the "su," but it all means the same thing ^^
A verbal tic is even the catalyst of Spectral Soiree!
Tumblr media
While not as often as Grim, Malleus is also known to end his sentences in "zo."
He keeps this speaking pattern even during Spectral Soiree, when he is pretending to be possessed by the ghost of an emperor.
Tumblr media
But he then slips mid-conversation, saying "zo yo."
Tumblr media
Leona noticing this inconsistency starts a domino effect that ultimately compromises Malleus' charade, leading to Malleus' confession (more here).
So verbal tics can be very important! ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley's "since I am kind" might also be considered a verbal tic, as it is generally repeated in the exact same way throughout the original game (original-game-to-EN comparison here!).
I think I will add a deep dive into the various speech patterns there are to my TODO list because this post keeps getting longer ww But here are a few pick-ups for right now:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
・Idia's use of "degozaru," "-shi," otaku-/net-slang and his stutter are unique to his character.
Tumblr media
・Ace will often say "papatto," for getting something done quickly.
Tumblr media
・Epel has many things going on with his various forms of speech, and his "kana" might count as a verbal tic?
Tumblr media
・Vil will often say "choudai" (apologies for the twitter link)
Tumblr media
・Lilia will often use the adjective "rippa," which is similar to admirable/splendid/impressive/respectable/etc. in English!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
・Riddle will often end questions with "dai"
・A line that Riddle also says before battles, Riddle will often say "ii dokyo ga oari dane," which is something like "to have some nerve." Other characters will say variations on "ii dokyo" (usually Vil and Leona), but this full phrase is unique to Riddle.
・Riddle will also often say "owakari dane," usually to mean "You understand?," as in, "if you don't do as I say, you understand what is going to happen to you, yes?" (re: he is going to behead someone).
Tumblr media
・Maybe my favorite, Rollo will often end his sentences with "kane."
In the way Rollo is using it, it is just another verbal tic, but then there is the Bell of Salvation from the event or æ•‘ă„ăźé˜ in Japanese:
Tumblr media
Sukui no Kane. "Kane" means bell!
Rollo is ending so many of his sentences with the word "bell" ^^ It is wordplay!
Tumblr media
Language is personalized to each and every character in the game, to the point that most of the time (on JP) you can tell which character is speaking before they even enter the room based upon verbal tics and honorifics ^^ It is all very interesting, but unfortunately all very impossible to put across on EN!
Hello! Recently read your latest Rin piece and fell in love with your writing style :)
If you’re up for it, could I request childhood friends with Hiori? Sorry it’s a little vague, but I love the direction you’ve taken other pieces and wanted to leave the details up to you! My only suggestion on a detail would be maybe sprinkling in some light angst about his parents/backstory.
Thank you for considering!
The field across from your house was melancholic and desolate, an acre or so of rolling green that bled into trees at the edges. Although by all rights it should’ve been considered a picturesque place, no amount of beauty could take away from the abandoned atmosphere which had long ago settled over the land.
According to your parents, there had been plans for a grand mansion to be built in that location, but before drafts for its construction could be drawn up, the owner had died. The son who had inherited it had no use for the plot, but neither could he be brought to sell the place of his father’s dreams, so the land had sat empty and unused for years upon years.
People thought the area was cursed, and the general consensus was that it ought to be avoided, but your parents did not believe in things like curses and bad luck and whatnot, so they told you it was fine if you wanted to play there. You were a lonely child, prone to wandering off on your own anyways, and you supposed they must’ve reasoned to themselves that it’d be easier if you were close enough that you could run home should something happen.
You would sit in the middle of the field, far from any prying eyes, and you’d admire the blooming plants beneath your feet. It was not just grass — there were a million and one varieties of things growing in that wild place, and you would run your fingers along their leaves, doing your best not to frighten the animals and insects which called that field their home.
They grew accustomed to you with time, and instead of shying away, they invited you into their own world. The squirrels and chipmunks would dash out from their trees to scuttle around your feet and splayed hands, while the dormice would peek out of their burrows without fear, nibbling on whatever seeds they had gathered before settling in for the day. The larks would warble to you, and if you were in a particularly cheery mood, you’d whistle back to them, trying to imitate their melodies but always falling a little short.
The third time you went to the field, you found that someone had arrived before you. For a moment, you thought that he must be a ghost, for he stood in such stark contrast to everything you had come to know that there was no other reasonable explanation for it. He was spindly and pale like a skeleton, and his shaggy hair and eyes were the color of winter, such an unnatural shade compared to the viridian he was surrounded by.
You were contemplating running away when he turned around, his eyes widening when he saw you. In his hands was a soccer ball, and resting on the soccer ball was a large white butterfly, its lazily flapping wings shimmering like a whisper in the sunlight.
You were both silent for a moment, a soft breeze rustling through the field and sounding like a song that urged you towards him despite your misgivings. Tentatively, he held the ball out towards you, but the motion startled the butterfly, which abruptly took to the air, fluttering away before either of you could react.
“Who are you?” you said.
“Yo Hiori,” he said. “Who are you?”
“Y/N L/N,” you said. “I live in the house across the street.”
“We’re neighbors, then,” he said. “My house is a few doors down from yours. Do you come here often?”
“Yes,” you said. “Do you?”
He shook his head ruefully. “This is the first time. My parents think I’m practicing soccer right now.”
“You shouldn’t do that here,” you said, frowning at the thought of him kicking up dirt and slamming a ball around carelessly through your sanctuary. “Go somewhere else if you want to play something so reckless.”
“I don’t,” he said. You furrowed your brow. “Don’t want to practice soccer, I mean.”
“I see,” you said. “Well, this is a good place to run to if that’s the case. No one will come looking for you here.”
“Is that the truth?” he said. “Really?”
“Really,” you said. “Everyone thinks it’s cursed, but in truth, I think that that just means it’s blessed.”
“Ah,” Hiori said. “But do you mind?”
“Do I mind what?” you said.
“If I keep coming here,” he said. “When I want to run away.”
“It doesn’t belong to me. I suppose you could say I belong to it, but that’s neither here nor there. No, I can’t stop you, so why would I mind?” you said.
“Are you some sort of woodland fairy?” he said. You laughed aloud.
“I wish. Are you a ghost?” you said. He shook his head.
“Nope,” he said.
“Then I guess our claims to this place are equal,” you said. “Anyways, as long as you don’t disturb it too much, I won’t be angry. I’ll do the same for you, don’t worry.”
“I don’t care what you do to it,” he said. “I just want to go somewhere that’s quiet and I can be left alone.”
This much you could understand, and you thought that perhaps Hiori would grow to be an exception to your loneliness, or an addition to it. Not a cure, because that did not exist, but a person who could relish in his own solitude and share in that inexplicable sensation which was your greatest joy.
You never saw him anywhere but in that field. You weren’t sure if he even existed outside of its context, or if he was like the dormice and the larks, a skittish creature who made his home in those grassy divots and only appeared to greet you before running back off to hide once you were gone.
At first, he was even more reserved than the animals had been. Neither of you spoke, but somehow, it happened that you were always in the same place at the same time, and eventually, little by little, the two of you became dependent on one another’s presence. Your life before meeting Hiori was pale and lifeless in comparison to your life after, and the first time you both spoke as friends instead of strangers, you thought to yourself that you could never go back to the way you had previously been.
No longer did you whistle at birds and play with squirrels; instead, you sat across from Hiori and listened to him explain things like soccer and video games. You were not particularly interested in either of these subjects, but as long as it was Hiori, you didn’t mind hearing about them. It was the cadence of his voice you were concerned with, the rise and fall of his words, the soft inflections of each syllable.
You had never had a friend before. It was a personal choice rather than a failing; every person who tried to engage with you was met with the same disdain, for you found no appeal in any such clumsy attempts at camaraderie. In your childish mind, friendship ought to be hard-won and delicately kept, and so it remained that of all the people in the world, Hiori was the only one whose honest company you could prefer.
He was a forlorn and low-spirited boy, the winter to your bursting summer, but his coldness was the inviting sort, like a dusting of snow on a cluster of berries or frost on a forgotten bird’s nest. It did not ward you away but drew you in, your breath fogging in the air as you lay beside him and listened to him ramble on and on about whatever topics struck his fancy.
Sometimes he was prone to muteness, and on those occasions you took it upon yourself to intertwine your fingers with his, pulling him along behind you and naming every plant and tree and flower you passed by, greeting the tittering chipmunks and the cooing larks and the peeping rabbits. He would not say anything, but you knew he was listening, for he would smile slightly whenever you pointed at something he found particularly pleasing.
Every day, he would bring the soccer ball with him. He refused to put it down, but neither did he play with it or even acknowledge its existence; you sensed it vexed him, that it was the source or a symptom of the gloomy undercurrent which ran through his life, but he could not let it go, just like he could never truly be happy in any way that lasted.
“Y/N,” he said once, when you and he were lying on your backs in the grass and watching the clouds drift by. “If you could be any other creature, what would you be?”
“I don’t know,” you said, considering the question seriously. “Maybe a songbird. What about you?”
“I’d be one of those,” he said, pointing at a butterfly floating past. It was a common variety, nondescript and plain and white, but somehow made more beautiful by the ubiquity of its kind.
“Why?” you said.
“I’d live a short but carefree life, and then I would die before anyone could demand anything from me,” he said, smiling slightly and closing his eyes. “Plus, if I could be something as small and pretty as a butterfly in our meadow, then I would be able to spend my entire existence resting on your finger.”
Your meadow. You weren’t sure when it had gone from being a place you visited to a place you owned, but yes, the shift had definitely occurred. You and Hiori loved it, and so it was yours by that right alone. You reached out your hand, setting it on his heart and then closing your own eyes in a mirror of his position.
“I wouldn’t prefer that,” you said. Something cool and soft curled over your fingers; you knew without looking that it was Hiori’s own hand, which would always come to rest against yours like a magnet.
“Hm,” he said.
“I’d get used to you being there,” you explained. “And then one day you’d vanish and I’d be alone again.”
“Would you miss me?” he said.
“Very much,” you said.
“Nobody else would,” he admitted, though he still spoke in an even monotone. “I’d be replaced quickly. Someone just as talented or even better would take my place, and then it’d be like I was never there in the first place.”
“I’d miss you,” you insisted. “I don’t care about talent. You’re someone who’s irreplaceable to me.”
“I see,” he said. “Then I guess, if not a butterfly, I would also want to be a songbird. Like you.”
“We could fly around the world together,” you said.
“Yes,” he said. “The countries I’ve seen in my video games
we could go to them. If we were birds, we could.”
“Maybe we still can,” you said.
“We can’t,” he said. “My parents would never let me.”
“What about when we’re adults? They can’t tell you what to do then, so we can leave them behind and travel wherever we want,” you said.
“It’s a nice dream,” he said.
“Hold onto it,” you said. “That’s the only way it can ever come true.”
“Okay,” he said. “I will.”
Even as you and Hiori became older and made friends outside of one another, there was a sort of solace which only he could provide you and which in turn only you could provide him, so neither of you ever outgrew that field. The moment you got home from school, you’d drop your bag on the counter and run there as fast as you could, hoping to see him before he had to leave for soccer practice. And every time, without fail, he’d be there, waiting where he always was, his small smile widening when he saw you racing towards him.
The contents of your conversations changed, moving from games and plants to complaining about schoolwork and updating one another about your respective social lives and dramas — he went to a private academy for soccer, while you attended the public school that most kids your age went to — but the familiarity never diminished. If anything, it only increased, as any inhibitions you had had in your youths gradually fell away.
“Hiori! You’ll never believe it,” you said, moving his abandoned soccer ball aside and sitting across from him. He did not look up from the pieces of grass he was braiding together, but he nodded to indicate he was listening. “Remember those two guys I was telling you about?”
“The ones who had a crush on the same girl?” he said.
“Yup, those two,” you said. “They finally got into a fistfight over her! It was crazy.”
“Who won?” he said.
“The principal, because he broke up the brawl and suspended them both,” you said. “Thereby ruining their brief romance-novel-moment entirely.”
“That’s a pity,” he said with a snort. “I can’t imagine what possessed them to do something as stupid as beating each other up on school grounds.”
“Love makes people crazy,” you said dramatically, pressing the back of your hand to your forehead and collapsing backwards into the dirt. “You’ll understand when you feel it yourself, silly Hiori.”
“Huh?” he said.
“I mean, one day, you’ll fall madly in love with someone, and then you’ll be inclined to beat another person up for them,” you said.
“What if I already have?” he said. You shot up with a gasp.
“And you didn’t tell me? Who is it? Who, who? You can’t hide stuff like that!” you said.
“It was only a hypothetical,” he said. “There isn’t anyone. What about you? Are you madly in love with someone?”
“You’ll be the first to know when I am, but at the moment, I don’t find myself able to even tolerate any of the boys I go to school with! They’re all disgusting, immature, and insensitive. Just looking at them is enough to make me gag, so forget about falling in love!” you said.
“That sucks,” he said.
“Maybe I’ll be single forever,” you said. “I’ll live alone, with pets and a porch swing and a backyard just like this field, somewhere faraway where no one can find me.”
“What about me?” he said, taking your wrist and tying the braided grass around it like a bracelet.
“Well, I’ll tell you where I am, of course,” you said. “You’re the only one I would want as a visitor.”
“I’ll come every day,” he said.
“At that point, you might as well just live there with me,” you said, rolling your eyes. “It’d save you the time spent traveling back and forth.”
“Would you like me to?” he said. “I thought the point was for you to be alone.”
“If it’s you, then it wouldn’t be so bad,” you said. “Being with you is even better than being alone.”
The sun hit Hiori at the exact moment that he grinned at you, and in the back of your mind, where things were understood but not known, you recognized that of all the beings in that lovely place, he was far and away the loveliest.
A distant and rumbling thunder portended a storm on the day you learned who Hiori really was. He never went to the field if it was raining — there was no excuse for him to escape his home, and so, though you did not much mind the weather, you tended to keep to your room on those days as well. Today, though, the rain was still only a blot on the horizon, which meant you would have a precious few minutes with him before it began to pour and you had to leave again.
“Hey, Hiori,” you said. In an uncharacteristic move, he wasn’t holding onto the soccer ball; instead, it was on the ground, his foot resting atop it, his head bowed towards it and his hands balled into fists at his sides. He glanced up at you, and you were surprised to see that there was a dead, hollow quality to his eyes, which, though always placid and still, were never this shade of dark and dreary. “Is everything okay?”
“Have you ever wanted to kill someone?” he said.
“No,” you said immediately, taken aback. “Have you?”
“No,” he said. “Yes. I’m not sure. I don’t want to do it, but somehow, I want my parents to die.”
Another crack of thunder. You approached Hiori slowly, like he was a deer that would leap away the instant you were close enough to touch him. But he was not a deer, and he stayed preternaturally immobile, his harsh panting the only signal that he was a person and not a statue.
“Do you mean that?” you said when you were near enough to him that you could’ve embraced him if you wanted. “Is that really how you feel, Hiori?”
“Yes,” he said vehemently. “Yes, I mean it more than anything. Everything would be better if they would just die and leave me alone.”
He drew his leg back and slammed it into the ball. It streaked through the field, leaving a muddy rut in its wake, tearing up the grass and the flowers before crashing into a tree with a groan. You stared at the path of devastation it had wrought, wondering how such an innocent object could create such havoc, how such a simple act could have such irreversible consequences.
“That’s what soccer is,” he said when he had caught his breath and noticed your silence. “A tiring game you play to ruin yourself.”
“I thought you liked playing soccer,” you said. “You always told me how good you were at it.”
“Just because I’m good at it doesn’t mean I like it,” he said. “I hate it almost as much as I hate the people that make me play it.”
“Then why do you keep going?” you said. “Why don’t you quit?”
“Because I have to,” he said. “My parents gave birth to me so that I could play soccer and be the best at it. That’s the only role I know how to conform to, so how can I do anything but accept it?”
You wrapped one arm and then the other around his torso, leaning your temple against the dip of his collarbone, turning your back to the blight he had caused and holding onto him as lightning split the sky.
“Don’t ruin yourself,” you said. “Don’t betray who you are because other people tell you to. If you don’t want to play soccer, then don’t. Quit and leave it behind. Maybe everyone else will mock you, but would it be enough if I didn’t? If I alone swore not to think any less of you, then would you be able to do it?”
“No,” he said. Something dripped onto your head, and you thought it had started raining early until you realized that Hiori’s voice was catching on nothing, his heart beating as fast as a mouse’s. “No, it wouldn’t be enough. I have to play soccer.”
“Why?” you said.
“My parents,” he said. “If I don’t play soccer — no, if I’m not good at soccer, they’ll divorce. They’ll divorce and it’ll be my fault, so I have to keep doing it, because no matter how much I hate them, I can’t be — I can’t be the reason that they — that anything bad happens to them.”
The droplets came in quicker succession, but with a final clap of thunder, the sky opened to let the rain out, blurring the line between his tears and the natural precipitation which would’ve occurred whether or not you were there.
You didn’t know what to say to him, so you opted to say nothing, pressing into him for as long as you could before you both had to go, leaving one another behind as you were always forced to. Now, though, there was a proof of your existence in the shape of that ugly gash that his soccer ball had torn into the field, an alteration which was directly a consequence of your actions. In a season or two, it would be grown over, but for the time being, it cheered you to think that the world could no longer avoid acknowledging you, acknowledging that you and Hiori were real, that you were alive and belonged.
In your second year of high school, a boy in your class came up to you, stopped you in the hallway in front of everyone and thrust a bouquet of supermarket flowers into your hands. He asked you to read the attached card, and you obliged, though you had a feeling you already knew what it said.
As you had predicted, it was an invitation to have lunch with him sometime. His cheeks were red and his smile was wide as he waited for you to say yes, but all you could think of when you looked at him was Hiori. How would he feel about this turn of events? Would he be amused or jealous or unfazed entirely? Would it even matter to him? Why were you thinking of him at a time like this?
No, that last question was one you knew the answer to already. The reason why you were thinking of Hiori was the same reason you still went to that field to see him, even though you were far too old to play with mice and birds and clovers now. It was the same reason that you recoiled from any other boy who tried to talk to you — because they were not him, they could never be him. It was because — it was because —
Much to the consternation of the audience you had unwillingly gathered, you handed the card and flowers back to the boy, shaking your head as politely as you could. There was a demand for an explanation on the tip of his tongue, but you left before he could make it. The explanation was not one you wanted to share, so you covered your ears with your hands to drown out the insults he shouted after you and strode away before he could say anything worse.
Hiori was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, so it was no surprise that he was waiting for you where he always was. Today, though, you did not bother with formalities or welcomes or lighthearted questions. You paid no mind to his antsy demeanor, instead catching his hands between your own and squeezing them.
“Y/N—”
“Hiori—”
You both called out each other’s names at the same time, with the same urgency, though there was a layer of despair when he said Y/N, just as there was pleading infused into the way you murmured Hiori.
“You first,” he said, though he looked over your shoulder, staring towards the road instead of at you. “Quickly.”
“Okay,” you said. “A boy asked me out.”
“Oh,” he said, and when his gaze slid onto you, you noticed that for the first time, there was something flaring to life in the blank depths of his irises, a veritable maelstrom of unreadable emotions twisting together and blending into something entirely other than the stillness you had come to expect from him. “What did you say?”
“I refused,” you said. “I couldn’t date him, not in good conscience. Not when I like — not when there’s someone else.”
“Someone else?” he said. “Y/N, please hurry.”
“What’s the matter?” you said, letting go of his hands so that you could instead hold his face. “Hiori, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Are you in trouble with your soccer team? Is that stupid crow boy causing you problems?”
“What? No, no, Karasu’s not done anything worse than usual. It’s my parents, I think they’re growing suspicious of me, I’m afraid they’ll—”
“It’s you,” you said, cutting him short, his haste rubbing off on you. You weren’t sure whether it was his anxiety or your own or some sort of divine premonition, but you suddenly felt an impending doom, as if you had to speak at that exact instant or give up the chance to ever say it again. “Hiori, you’re the reason I said no. It’s because I like you.”
Hiori, who had carved his way into your heart on the very first day you met, who was fond of butterflies and songbirds, who was bashful like winter and gentle like dusk. How could you help it? Of course you liked him. That boy who had reached into the lonely chasm of your soul and ripped it out, turned it into something lighter and warmer and whole
how could you help falling for him?
“Me?” he said in disbelief. “But—”
“So this is where you go, Yo,” a stern voice said. Hiori inhaled sharply, and then he yanked away from you, shoving you behind him, though it was far too late. You knew who had finally found the two of you, and furthermore, there was no way she hadn’t seen you. “This doesn’t look like practicing soccer. How much time have you been wasting in this dump, with this fool of a girl?”
You peered around Hiori’s back, holding onto the hem of his shirt. Fear constricted your throat when you saw a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to him standing before you, her hands on her hips, a dour expression on her face. Whatever had been sparkling in Hiori at your confession had abruptly disappeared, replaced by an even more severe version of himself.
“It’s not a big deal,” he said, his voice barely more than a whisper. “We just met recently.”
“Not a big deal? Think about how much better at soccer you would be if you actually spent this time practicing instead of messing around! A few minutes every day is the difference between starting for a team and being a substitute, because a few minutes every day turns to hours every week, which turns into days lost every month! You should be ashamed of yourself,” his mother said, marching over and grabbing him by the collar, wrenching him away from you. “From now on, I’ll be supervising your additional practice time. As for you, young lady
don’t even think of coming near him again. He doesn’t need distractions like you getting in the way of his ultimate goal.”
“His ultimate goal?” you said, your audacity surprising even yourself. Without Hiori’s shadow to hide you, you were entirely naked and exposed, but somehow, you found the strength in you to speak up. “What, of being the world’s best soccer player? Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe he doesn’t want that anymore, if he ever did?”
His mother scowled at you. “You are a poison of the worst sort, if you have him doubting what he’s been aiming for since he was young. Stay away from my son. Don’t make me repeat myself.”
She dragged Hiori away before either of you could manage so much as a goodbye. It was the first time since you had met him that you found yourself alone in that field, which suddenly felt so vast that you finally understood why people thought it to be cursed. It had to be, because why else would it have given you Hiori and then taken him away with such a swiftness that it left you reeling?
For a week, you continued to go to the field, just in case he would magically be there, but it was a foregone conclusion that he would not be. Still, you waited, and though the larks sang their songs and the dormice chittered at you sweetly, nothing could set your spirits right when Hiori remained missing.
On the eighth day you spent without him, you didn’t even bother with the field. Instead, you knocked on every door of every house in your small neighborhood, continuing on until the one who answered was the same woman who had stolen Hiori from you.
She remembered you, her expression turning sour at your appearance, like you had shoved a lemon into her mouth. Shockingly, though, she did not slam the door in your face. She only cleared her throat before speaking in the most abrasive voice you had ever had the misfortune of hearing.
“What is it?” she said.
“Hiori — Yo, is he around? I just want to see him one last time. I’ll leave him alone after that if you refuse to budge, but at least let me say goodbye. I won’t ever distract him again if you give me that chance,” you said.
“If I gave you even the slightest leeway, you’d pounce upon it, won’t you? I’m not so daft. I’m sure that, if I let you in now, you’d never leave. In the end, though, it’s irrelevant. Yo’s gone,” she said.
“Gone?” you said. “What do you mean?”
“He’s participating in a soccer training camp called Blue Lock,” his mother said. “The way they raise their players is what his father and I been trying to impress upon him from the start, so we’re glad he made the choice himself to go. Now, he can focus on his own self-improvement instead of brief dalliances that would never last.”
Hiori was gone. There was a deep ache in you, and those words were its source, yet nonetheless, for him, you could only muster up pride. He had finally done it. He had flown somewhere free of the burdens his parents placed on him; to be sure, it was defined by the soccer he despised, but nonetheless he had made the decision to do it on his own. It belonged to him, and he had spent so long without anything to his name but a deserted green that you laughed as you sobbed, leaving him behind for good.
A long time passed before you saw him again, though you watched all of his matches on TV. He had become someone different and yet still familiar while in the Blue Lock program — he was sharper now, sharper and quicker, his eyes constantly burning in the same way they had on the day he had left you. Most notably, you thought that that childish love for soccer which he had had and then lost had blossomed again, now into a stable, unshakeable passion which no one, not even his parents, could take from him.
You had probably also changed, though of course it was harder to recognize it in yourself than in another person. But you were not so sparing with your offers of friendship anymore, and neither were you harsh to every boy who approached you. With Hiori gone, the only reservations you had were feeble and pointless, so you stopped saying no quite as often.
Nothing ever came of these school-type romances. Inevitably, you’d walk home and your eyes would stray to the spot where you had spent so much of your childhood with Hiori, whereupon you would pull out your phone and send a formulaic apology message. Sorry, but it’s not working. There’s nothing wrong with you, but I don’t think we’re a good match for each other. Thanks for taking me out. I really appreciate it.
The longer it became, the less frequently you thought about him. He turned into a memory, fuzzy around the edges with nostalgia and tinged with gold. He was someone you claimed to know around those with a more vested interest in soccer, but deep inside, you had accepted that your path had diverged from his a long time ago. You and Hiori weren’t meant to sit beside one another for eternity; he had been there when you needed him, but it was time for you to stand on your own, as he was clearly doing all of the way over in Blue Lock.
“I can’t believe you’ve finally graduated high school!” your mother said, sniffing as she took a million photos of you standing awkwardly, your diploma in your hands, your gown hanging loosely on your body and the pins holding up your cap jabbing into your scalp. “We’re so proud of you, dear.”
“Next stop, Tokyo!” your father said, swiping at the tears which rolled shamelessly down his cheeks.
You had been accepted into the University of Tokyo, and at the end of the summer, you would move into your own apartment, leagues away from everything you had known for your entire life. It was exciting, but it was also terrifying, because the thought of being all alone in the bustling metropolis still made you break into a cold sweat.
Now that you had officially graduated, it all seemed so much more real. Going to Tokyo, attending university, getting a job and supporting yourself
these were not dreams of a distant future but immediate and pressing concerns that weighed on you.
Once you became a university student and then an adult proper, you visited home less and less. You hardly had the time, and anyways there wasn’t much to do in that town, so instead your parents would take trips up to visit you when they missed you terribly — which was often. They would update you on the happenings of your neighbors, and you would take them to your favorite restaurants and attractions, like they were foreign tourists coming to the country for the first time.
“You know, they finally finished construction on that plot across from our house,” your mother said to you on one such visit, taking a sip of bubble tea to punctuate the outrageous statement. There were streaks of gray in her hair now, and far more lines on her face than there had been when you were younger, but she wore the signs of age with grace and dignity, so that they were weapons instead of faults.
“You never told me someone bought it,” you said. So that was that, then; the last remnants of your tender friendship with a boy you had not spoken to in years was all but destroyed now. It belonged to another person, who would make their own memories on the land, and the thought of two other people standing where you and Hiori once had caused a lump to arise in your throat. It was as much grief for the idyllic days of your childhood as it was for your former best friend. Both were lost to you now, and both you mourned in equal measure, though you knew no amount of crying would ever bring them back.
Perhaps there had been a window of time in which you might’ve been able to reconnect with Hiori, but the idea hadn’t crossed your mind until it was far too late, and you supposed it must’ve been the same for him. Or maybe he had, upon joining Blue Lock and becoming an international celebrity, forgotten about you entirely. It was a possibility, and no matter how much it stung, it was one you did not resent him for.
“Yes, it was a while ago. Apparently, he lived in the area when he was younger, but he left to pursue some athletic career? Anyways, now that he’s rich, he wanted to invest in some property close to home, so as soon as the previous owner died, he swooped in and bought the entire field up. You know, considering how much money he has, the house is downright quaint in its design,” your mother said, shaking her head. She had a penchant for gossip, and you could not count on two hands the amount of days you both had spent giggling with each other about silly, inconsequential matters. This, though, crossed the line — it wasn’t dumb gossip but legitimate news.
“Athletic career? Do you
do you happen to remember what sport?” you said.
“No idea,” your mother said. “Why?”
“Was it soccer?” you said. She choked on a pearl of boba. Absently, you leaned over and slapped her on the back to help dislodge it. She coughed and dabbed at her face with a napkin before nodding.
“Ah, yes, that sounds familiar!” she said. “I think that might be it.”
“I’m going to take the next few days off and visit you guys,” you said. It was a spur of the moment decision, but you could afford it, and something told you that what you would find would be far more valuable than another day at your boring, if not well-paying, job.
“Really? That’s wonderful! You’ll love how things have changed. The place has really come to life in the past couple of years,” she said.
The train ride home from Tokyo was just over two hours, and it ran through a familiar countryside, which you watched for the entire journey, smiling slightly whenever you rushed by a landmark you recognized. By the end, however, it seemed every sight was a landmark of some sort — not the nationally important ones, but the type that was personally significant. The many little places you had visited when you were young
even now, you recollected them with startling clarity.
Your father was delighted that you had returned home with your mother, and the whole house smelled like his cooking when you walked in through the front door. He must’ve begun preparing as soon as you had mentioned that you were coming back for a bit, and the grumble of your stomach warned you that you would regret it if you did not hold off on your investigation until after dinner.
You sat in the same chair you had once sat in and ate the same food you had once eaten. It was your favorite as a little girl, and your father served it to you personally, his lower lip trembling as he ladled two portions onto your plate instead of one. Hardly even a month had passed since he had seen you last, but he had always been an emotional man, bawling like a child at every reunion and separation alike.
The sun was setting when you excused yourself, placing your dishes in the sink and ducking outside under the pretense of needing a walk to digest your food. Well, it was only half a pretense — your father truly had fed you until you thought your stomach might split open, as was characteristic of his affection. You really did need to walk around so that your insides could settle, but more importantly than that, you wanted to confirm the theory which had been brewing in your mind since your mother had brought it up.
As she had said, there was a brand new house across from yours. It was nothing like the grand mansion that the original owner must’ve intended to sit on the land; it had a winsome yet unassuming charm to it, and it only took up about half of the field, while the rest of it had been left entirely alone, still green and wild like you recalled it to be. You were sure that if you looked close enough, you would find the dormice and the squirrels and the chipmunks and the larks exactly where you had left them as well, but you did not have the time nor the patience for that at present.
When you climbed the porch steps, you noticed that to the left of the door was a cushioned swing, atop which a tortoiseshell cat was dozing. At the sound of your footsteps, she opened one champagne-colored eye, but she did not seem to regard you as worthy of her attention, for she promptly closed it and returned to her rest.
Your fingers hesitated on the doorbell, resting on the button, too scared to press down. You didn’t know what you had to be afraid of, but for some reason, you were nervous, a pit forming in your stomach as you deliberated over what to do. Before you could make up your mind, the cat meowed at someone in greeting, jumping off of the swing with a light thud.
Spinning around, you saw that the owner of the house was standing at the bottom of the steps, the cat rubbing against his legs as he beamed up at you. Any lingering doubts of yours dissipated into nothingness at the instant you once again made eye contact with Yo Hiori; like a reflex, the corners of your mouth curved upwards in a fond greeting.
Like always, in his hands was a soccer ball, though more prominent than the ball itself was the butterfly which lay on it in repose. Its white wings were thin and quivering, but curiously, when Hiori held the ball out to you, it did not fly off, instead remaining stationary, waiting for you to reach out and take it.
note: hii thank you for your answer <3 here it is finally i hope you like it ! also i made a get to know me, let me know what you think about it hihi i would love to chat a bit more with you guys
Tumblr media
He must be awkward at first but he loves it a lot
I see him as a girl daddy he would love his little girl to death
talks about her more than he likes to admit it
but she's so funny
wait until she get to school and he’ll get to listen to all the gossip with a lot of passion
he’s really into it, if he came home late and she’s already to, he asks you what happened today and ask for all the details
loves to pick her from school when he can, but he’s busier than you
“no daddy you don’t get it !” and then she’ll explain the whole thing again (she doesn’t know shit about it but he would always let her think she’s right <3)
he doesn't want to be strict with her but he's still cold when he's upset, it's hard for him to work on that
but he always make sure to make it up for her by talking to her and explaining what was up – he doesn’t want her to think it’s normal to be ignored without explanation
both of you have to work on a lot of things, you’re not perfect, but you really want to show her the best model possible
sometimes he jokes about the fact that she loves him more than you
he loves doing picnic with both of you, that’s his favorite type of family date
when all of you three cook together and then you get to sit in a sun bath to enjoy it – it’s really the best
Not forgetring about the sea !! It's really important for him and he wants her to have a thins kind of feeling/relationship with it as well ♡
she would love to cook with him !
I hc him that he won’t let you cook because of his diet notably but also because it’s his way to show that he loves you and her
he’ll do his best for her to taste a lot of things but still respect when she says she doesn’t like something
he’ll probably get killed if he ever force her to eat something she doesn’t like in fact, ‘cause you hate that behavior
he also want her to be really educated about a lot of things so both of you make sure that she can go to a lot of museums, see temples and be in touch with animals to be aware and take care of them and the planet
he’s love to do sport with her but won’t forced her either if she doesn’t want to
but if she does, damn he’ll make sm time for her (even more than before)
but he’ll be salty if she’s more into the things you like
he’s totally the type to get caught away to watched cartoons or movies with her but ended up SO into the story ?? like hell yeah he needs to know the end of this barbie or pixar movie
play with her a lot even if he’s not the best at it, you’re definitely more expressive than him but you can be tired and he wants to spend time with her that way too
if she ever cry because of someone at school, be sure that his next day is taken and he’s got an appointment with the director without even asking him
he’ll just show up and makes things clear, could also talk directly to the kid if it was bad enough
he loves to walk with her on his shoulders even if she pulls his hair too much sometimes
he’s overly cute and caring with her
Tumblr media
i hope you liked it ♡
hi, thank you for your request! I hope you can make the very best of your day, anon, I’m sorry the people close to you forgot it :( please have a happy birthday! grumpy!sirius x sunshine fem!reader
Sirius is guilty of pretending you irk him. You're always smiling, always complimenting him, and always touching him. He knows you wouldn't touch him if he asked you not to —you checked with him a couple of times when you first met if it was okay, and he said, Yeah, it's okay, with no further explanation or objection.
He pretends your sunny disposition doesn't make him happy, too, but it does. It's selfish, then, when he notices you aren't feeling good today and decides he has to correct it immediately, lest the ray of sunshine that is your presence diminish.
He sits down beside you on the bench, propping his face in his hand, elbow on his knee, a picture of nonchalance. "Hey."
"Hi, Siri."
He takes his pack of Lamberts from his jacket pocket and offers you one. You never take one, but he offers anyway. He doesn't want you to start smoking, he just figures that it's a nice gesture.
He puts them away without lighting any when you say no.
"Don't not have one on my account," you say.
It's exactly why you deserve to have someone checking on you, no matter how cold it is, and no matter how much fun everyone's having at the bar. You put everyone else first.
"I didn't want any." He was trying to cheer you up. He should've known a cigarette wouldn't do it. Best go in with guns blazing.
Sirius rifles through the inside pocket of his leather jacket and pulls out the white box inside. He hadn't wrapped it. There's a confidence that comes with sincerity, and it's the kind of confidence he lacks. He's embarrassed enough to have bought you something in the first place.
"Happy birthday," he says. "Don't tell me if you don't like it, please."
You sit up a little straighter, inch by inch, accepting the small box into your hands. They wrap around the lid, your fingers moving with a deliberate gentleness, until your thumbs clamp over the top of it hard enough to make the lid bend. You smile at him, and it is perhaps the most heartbreaking smile he's ever seen. Disappointment and gratefulness all wrapped into one.
"I didn't think anyone remembered," you say. Your voice is hoarse, and you cough rather than let it crack.
He thought maybe you'd been upset because it was your birthday —Sirius himself has a weird relationship with his. He hadn't considered that no one else thought to celebrate with you. And despite his general unhappiness, his permanent headache and all the constraints of being as introverted as he is, Sirius sort of snaps.
He puts a hand on your shoulder, his elbow resting against your back, and pulls you toward him. "I'm so sorry."
You're clearly surprised by his touch, but you don't shy away. "No, it's okay. I realise that it's my fault, you know, we're all adults and I should've mentioned it again, I can't expect people to know if I don't say."
"I think
" He licks his lips. "Okay, I think that people genuinely do forget things, but it's a special day, and you expected special things. I really don't see how it's your fault."
"Maybe not," you concede. You sniffle, and Sirius is horrified to realise you've a tear traversing down the soft slope of your cheek. "I don't know, I just wish people remembered."
"I'm sorry," he says again.
You wipe your cheek with a cruel hand. He can't stop himself from taking it, wanting to prevent any further self-meanness. Your eyes widen as you look him in the face, tears dewy at the waterline.
"But you remembered," you say, tone happy even while thick with tears.
"I wrote it down," he confesses. "I wanted to get it right."
"That's so nice," you say, another tear cresting your cheek. You wrap your arms around his waist and tuck your cheek against his in a hug. "That's really thoughtful, Siri. Thank you."
"You're welcome. You
 make so much time for me. Whenever you see me. I don't know if you know how much you affect people, you can make anybody smile. I wanted to make sure I could do the same, even if it's only once."
"You make me smile all the time." You squeeze him and then pull away, wiping your cheeks and straightening your jacket.
He'd usually roll his eyes, but not right now. He just smiles at you, hoping you understand it for all the silent appreciation that it is.
You huff a little breath in and drop your gaze to your hands in your lap, where you're untying the bow that's been wrapped around the jewellery box. You lift the lid, the sides emitting a shushing sound near enough lost to the sound of the street and the people laughing in the pub behind you.
It's a bracelet. The beads are simple but not something you'd see everyday, silver backed hearts, flat on the silver side and a milky white that seems to glow on the bevelled fronts. There's four hearts, connected to smaller milky white beads.
He was terrified buying it and he's scared now.
"I really like you," he says. "I'm sorry about your birthday. You deserve a lot more."
Your cheeks apple as you turn to him, your eyelashes kissing with the force of your smile. You pull your knees to touch his and offer him the bracelet on two fingers. "Can you hook it on, please?"
"You don't have to wear it," he says, because he didn't think this far.
"I want to wear it, please. It's beautiful. It's the nicest gift anyone's ever given me."
He blinks hard and dips his head slightly to one side as he murmurs, "If you're sure," hands coming up to take the bracelet from you.
You're both quiet as he unlatches it and lays it across your wrist. He's gentle to the point of aching, and he's putting every bit of effort that he can to stop his hands from trembling, he's so nervous.
"There," he says. "Anything else you need?"
It's meant to be sarcastic, as if to say, you're working me like a dog, here.
You shake your head hurriedly. "Nothing else. Thank you, Sirius."
He takes his cigarettes out, knowing he won't be able to calm down, not when you're looking at him like he just hung the moon. "It's okay," he says, putting a cigarette between his lips. "Don't mention it. Please, don't."
