Ballister blinks and shakes his head a little before turning to look at Ambrosius. Something in his gaze isn’t quite right, like he stayed up too late studying for a test they definitely don’t have today. His slow response only worsens the gut feeling. “Oh. Yeah. I’m, uh, I’m fine. Just overslept.”  He reaches up and pats Ambrosius hand with a small smile. It’s enough to mollify Ambrosius, for now. Ballister’s smiles always are. (The fluttery feeling is back.)

dinah my beloved :( theres always a huge war between people that like her in green arrow and people that like her in birds of prey and i feel like no one will just accept that. theyre both her. shes not written as just a sidepiece for ollie in green arrow and shes also not written as a soulless girlboss in birds of prey :(!!! i do have issues with her characterization in bop at times but for the most part i like her in that book and it doesnt take away from her characterization in ga books :( begging people to understand nuance

um. lol. anything wlw besides stephcass. dont get me wrong i love stephcass but thats like,, the only dc wlw ship that people regularly talk about (including all the canon wlw relationships!!!!) and even then its usually just offhandedly mentioning stephcass when talking about the batboys :((( there are so many lesbians in the dc universe (canonically or just emotionally) and none of them get any attention 😔

9.Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive? (For everyone)

Elijah: He is... surprisingly soft, but it's a tough kind of soft wherein he'll drop some real talk on someone in pretty plain terms, but temper the sting with some pointed empathy for their perspective or maybe even some physical affection depending on the person -- at least with people he gives some semblance of a shit about, or someone who doesn't deserve his less pleasant personality points. It's a work in progress :')

As to what he prefers, he wants people to be 100% real with him even if it is hard to hear or is going to piss him off. He grew up with tough love and gets really twitchy when people try to be gentle or delicate with him. Feels like they're coddling him or full of shit.

Baiju: Gives both gentle love and tough love, often at the same time, though it is very dependent on the recipient. He offers very succinct and honest assessments and advice but does so with tact. His general lack of judgement and willingness to understand the reason for actions taken -- along with his open and kind demeanor -- tends to put folks at ease. It allows them to receive harsher critiques that they might have difficulty hearing from others. It might help that he offers some of his harsher commentary in metaphor that the recipient may or may not fully grasp the implication of...

Receiving, he prefers honesty. Gentle or Tough, as long as someone respects him enough to be honest with him and not treat him like he is emotionally delicate just because he is a kind person, he's grateful for it.

Larkspur: Tough but only because he is lacking in tact. He tends to just... say what he's thinking, whether its about himself or about other people. It has gotten him in trouble in the past and probably will again in the future.

On the flip side it's less about preference and more that he needs people to be a little tough with him, otherwise there is a very real possibility he won't get the subtleties of attempting to save his feelings. He likes it when people are nice to him though -- incredibly easy to win over with a soft touch and a bit of positive reinforcement. u_u

I googled it, but had never heard of that before!

Oooh! I got asked about this one already here! and i've posted before about what pots is here! But! it's your lucky day, you can have another snippet:

They’ve gathered an audience now. Behind Eddie, Buck can see Bobby making his way over, Hen and Chimney following close behind with their medkits. 

“Sarah just had some scrapes and bruises so her parents decided to drive her to the hospital — What’s going on, guys?” Bobby comes up right next to Eddie, his own brows pinching in concern as he looks at Buck. 

He’s fine. He just needs to sit down. 

“You’re not looking too hot, Buckaroo. You alright?” Hen asks, coming to Eddie’s other side. 

Why won’t they believe him, he’s fine– 

“Buck, hey — Answer me, man,” Eddie insists. 

Oh. Had Buck not said anything out loud? He swore he had. God, he really just wants to sit down. 

Without meaning to, he starts sagging towards the ground. There’s a chorus of exclamations, his teammates all reaching out to steady him but Buck steps back from their hands, managing to steady himself.

Had her mood been sourer, she may have taken his commentary as a slight; either way, the fighting pits never interested her much. As skilled as its warriors could be and as bloody as things may get, Katarina did not employ violence as entertainment — rather, a very effective tool, used for the empire's benefit, never her own glory.

That mistake she had made only once; every glimpse in the mirror reminded her of it still.

Instead of taking offense at the implication her skills are wasted, she shrugs it off with a lighthearted reply, finally turning to face Draven. "Mine simply happens to take the show directly to my marks and make it the last thing they'll see."
