Is it worth watching Megamind rules? I know I’m not the target, but I’m curious yet also really really nervous. I know it’s for a younger audience but I’m still very on the fence and nervous. Also, love your writing
Omg, thank you, and thank you also for asking and yes yes yes 100% it's worth watching! It got crapped on by a bunch of people who decided based on the trailer alone that it was going to suck (how fun, a movie about a guy who everyone decided would be bad despite not knowing him got a spinoff show that...everyone decided would be bad despite not watching it, lol), so there's a lot of hate out there for it. I'm assuming you've caught wind of some of that, and that's why you're nervous? But for what it's worth, I was staring at the screen like :D basically the whole time.
Some more specific notes below the cut, but the tl;dr is please do give it a chance, if you can find the time. A G-rated direct-to-stream spinoff show wasn't what a lot of people were hoping for, and there were some folks who watched it and didn't care for it. But from a writing and storytelling standpoint, I think it is genuinely good! If you go in expecting a cute kids' show with some silly jokes and social misfits finding their way forward together, and keep an open mind, I don't think you'll be disappointed-- in fact I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
Just a gentle heads-up on some stuff because I'm not sure what you've heard about the show yet, and I'm also not sure what your existing expectations are!
The show was given a shoestring budget and not a lot of time to go from writers' room to final product, and yes, there are places where you can tell. But that was always going to be the case-- Dreamworks was absolutely not going to be spending big bucks on a franchise they've barely even acknowledged in more than a decade-- and it wasn't the fault of the people making the show. And even with the low budget, I think the animation is still genuinely solid, especially in later episodes! The people who worked on it really did a great job with what they were given.
And the writing!!! Holy shit!!! My skin is clear my crops are watered etc. The original writers handled this project and they absolutely delivered. Megamind & Roxanne's whole Thing progresses and grows and blooms in a really sweet and realistic way. Roxanne & Chum have a great dynamic. (Minion's name needed to be changed for legal reasons, but the writers worked that into the show and I gotta say, as a trans person, it was really lovely to see everyone else respond to "actually, because of [spoiler], my name is Chum now" with "oh! cool okay" and just keep rolling. I love that that was modeled for kids.) The character development is tangible; we get to watch Megamind really grow as a person and come into his own over the course of the series. And the new characters are really fun-- I genuinely enjoyed Keiko and everyone else.
Even if you never watch it (it's OK if you don't!) please just know: this was not a cash grab; Megamind Rules was made by people who truly cared about this world and these characters.
It's also worth noting that Megamind Versus the Doom Syndicate (the extended pilot) recaps a bunch of the same lessons as the original movie, so it can feel a little bit "...didn't we JUST do this??" but I'm pretty sure that was because Dreamworks didn't want to rely on kids to watch a 13 year old movie rated PG instead of G in order to get context. So like, I get it. And it's still cute! But it did mean I was nervous about what the rest of the series would be like until I was laughing my ass off halfway through Episode 2. If you're nervous, you can probably skip MMVtDS.
But yeah. I truly do think Megamind Rules is worth watching, and I've been so sad about the reception it received. Thank you so much for asking about it, and not just deciding it sucks and moving on. I appreciate you.

So if team board game night rotates, who would pick which game?
Jamie, somewhat surprisingly perhaps, tend to bring out trivia games. Things often get heated on those nights because the boys argue over the correct answers a lot. Jamie himself tends to do shockingly well in some categories and insanely, horrendously bad in others; his knowledge is spotty, to say the very least. He gets a kick out of arguing his absurdly wrong answer even after he gets they're wrong, and he gets incredibly smug when they hit upon a category that he can surprise everyone by being super knowledgeable about.
Dani is a fan of Dixit because the pictures are gorgerous, and you get to make up tiny little stories, like poetry! He very rarely wins, however, because his associations just run very differently than the others. Dani doesn’t care, though; it’s the joy of playing that matters.
Sam alternates between table top roleplaying games (preferably in a fantasy setting because he loves magic!) and word games (which he is fucking brilliant at but which he knows that Jamie doesn’t really like, so he mostly saves them for evenings when our No. 9 can’t join them).
Colin likes a bit of everything but makes a point of bringing Welsh made games because Welsh pride they include Welsh names that no one else knows how to pronounce, that’s just an extra bonus. In fairness to the boys, they all do their very best with the pronounciation and does not mind Colin shaking his head at their efforts. Well, he only shakes his head at the English players, and then him and Jan Maas bond over how hard some people appearantly find it so very hard to make simple sounds.
Isaac arranges poker nights. He’s got a room for it at his house and all, and always dresses for the occasion. Once in a while, when they’ve really got time, he brings out Risk and all hell breaks loose. (Isaac is the Worst when it comes to snacks, though, so Richard has taken it upon himself to make sure there’s drinks and appropriate niblets. That way, Richard also get to claim co-host rights and gets out of having the team over to his place, which he just thinks is too fancy for this lot. Also, Richard doesn’t really care for board games.)
Bumbercatch is into cooperative board games, especially if the goal is to work together to solve some sort of real world issue, like Pandemic. Uniting rather than tearing each other down is the way to go if they ever want to overthrow the unjust world order!
Jan Maas also enjoys cooperative board games, except he tends to opt for the ones that include traitors (like Unfathomable), because it’s just fun to watch the rest of the team succumb to paranoia and chaos. Mafia is good too! Jan Maas tends to do well in those games because he takes full advantage of the fact that everyone expects him to be very blunt, making it easy for him to get away with lies.
Zorro is a Card Against Humanity guy. Those nights are rowdy and loud affairs, and the coaches (Roy in particular) don’t like it all that much, because it invariably lead to the team shouting weird fucking phrases and sniggering about it the day after.
The coaches aren’t invited to these things, but if they were Nate would have the team play the most elaborate strategy games and he would crush. them. ever. single. time.

I have been wondering: Most read the scene in the Empty Hearse where Molly presents Tom at 221b as Molly so in love with Sherlock that she made Tom wear Sherlock-style outfit or got engaged to a look-alike (which, no). But what if Molly and Tom deliberately dressed Tom like that to sort of mess with Sherlock, Tom being in on the joke. Molly knows Sherlock deducing anybody will be uncomfortable and would have prepped Tom. Look at Mollys reaction to Sherlock's reaction. Similar to TSo3 lab scene.
I think this scene could be the result of two scenarios:
On one side of things, I could totally see Molly asking Tom to deliberately dress like Sherlock. This would mean that she would've had to tell Tom about her long term feelings for Sherlock but I do think that Molly's confidence level had grown by the time we got to season 3 and that she was in a place to be like, yeah, I used to like this guy, but now I am with you, want to play a joke on him?
On the other side, Molly's friends (she says that they met through friends in TEH) obviously know what her type is, tall, dark curly hair, etc. So maybe Tom really does dress that way - maybe her friends saw him and went, yeah, she'll be in to that one. And then upon arriving to the flat Molly was judging to see how Sherlock would respond as she could tell he was more emotionally mature/grown up after they spent the day together solving crimes. In this scenario, I could see Molly probably resisting dating Tom for awhile since she didn't want to look like she was going for a "look-a-like".
Either way, I don't personally read that scene as Molly being "so in love" with Sherlock...I think she genuinely tried to move on.

Recently I've been seeing a lot of posts on my dash about how much it sucks that Copia has to sing Mary on a Cross and every time all I can think about is how funny it would be for Copia in the Terzo is The Devil universe to sing Kiss the Go-Goat
MOAC and KTGG are Copia’s songs to me👏🏻
This is so funny to me because there are a few of Ghost songs that actually do have plot relevance for my fic. Copia certainly won’t miss the very obvious connotation’s there lmao.
I won’t spoil much, but there are a few that Copia will eventually write as a tribute to everything Lucifer/Terzo (or LuciTer as someone said me to) has done for him.
Anon you’re onto me I swear 😂

Apollo is Peeta! He is a patron of the arts, he rides in a fiery chariot (sometimes joined by Artemis), and is typically depicted with blond hair. Although Peeta and Katniss are not literal twins, they are twins in the sense that they are presented as duo from the moment they arrive in the Capitol, even wearing matching training clothes (the other tributes did not match). Artemis and Apollo are also among the gods that fight against Cronus (Roman name Saturn), who is the god of the reaping and time (Snow! Tick tock, the arena is a clock.).
How cool! Thank you for sharing nonny!!

Trick and treat! 🎃👻
trick AND treat? ahhh okay here's a treat first, another snippet from the restaurant au follow up that im slowly chipping away at:
For the past couple weeks, Hob has begun wondering what the hell he’d gotten himself into, involving himself with Morpheus. The man had a sexual appetite that never burned out, cornering Hob all over the restaurant and taking as he pleased. And Hob let him. He allowed Morpheus’ fire to engulf him, feeling insane for it as Morpheus effectively infiltrated Hob’s very core. While Hob was off the clock, all he thought about was him. While he was getting ready for work, Hob’s skin buzzed with anticipation of seeing Morpheus again. And the moment he stepped into the building, Hob wouldn’t even have to seek the other man out, usually getting shoved into a broom closet minutes before his shift for a rough makeout session or quick handjobs that left Hob choking and gasping for air. Beneath all the obvious… sexual attraction and illicit work shenanigans, Hob had been surprised by Morpheus. The man obviously had this quiet confidence– something more always lurking beneath the surface. But he’d been such a tease that Hob had actually wondered if the other man was all talk.
AND HERE'S A TRICK AHHHH!

OO HEY G !, saw that you were open for reqs and I wanted to see what you think post island Roger and Jack would look like? Like 2-3 years after they get rescued. I really like how you portray the both of them, so it would be interesting to see from you‼️‼️
Hello! Thank you for your request! I've been busy so sorry for the long wait to answer your request.
I dont exactly hc that they would stay friends after the island, but i thought "what if?" And wanted to draw them together. I think they look older than just 2-3 years after the island... maybe it is like 5 years older here... but i like how it went. I hope you like it too.

How long is the brick in its full glory? I read a translation that was SAVAGELY 800 pages shorter now I made sure to order the French and English brick. The French one had 1300 something and the English one approximately 1250. How big are the chances that the amis have been cut out again, what do you think?
Oh nooooo abdridgement XD I can't even guess what they cut! (besides the digresssions, I assume?) ...and ...the Amis...what a catastrophic thing to cut from the book!
But both the ones you've ordered now sound good! At full length, LM ranges from 1200-1400 pages, depending on the size of the type, pages, whether there's illustrations, etc. You should be good! And if you can read the French version, you don't even have to worry about translators dropping a line here and there, or the way the Edit Wars have played out for them!:D

for the yuumori au asks: 1A,2A and 3A
Meme here, feel free to ask more!
2A Albert lives in modern times. What kind of vehicles does the character ride?
I think Albert has a little moped or something and zooms around a city and shakes his hair out of the helmet and looks very very pretty.
3A Louis lives in modern times. What kind of vehicles does the character ride?
Louis is a barebones public transit guy. He rides the train or the bus and walks a lot. He lives somewhere where he doesn't need a car, and so he does not use a car.
1A William lives in modern times. What kind of vehicles does the character ride?
I think William uses public transit too but he has a bicycle. I also think that while it's very practical, there is always something just a little whimsical about him on a bike.

In Benedicts season, when and how do you want Anthony to find out about Sophie and Benedict?
We never see his reaction to them in the books. I think he comes round for tea and his brother in engaged to the housemaid and they have adopted her sister. No questions please.
With Anthony's depiction on the show, I wonder if he would advise Benedict to keep Sophie as a mistress?
Hello Nonny!
Gah - you have hit upon one of my most beloved dynamics in the whole of the Bridgerverse - Anthony and Sophie. There is so much fertile ground to explore here, starting with how he discovers Benedict's relationship with her, and stretching years into the future as in-laws who couldn't have come from more different walks of life.
I wholly agree it's odd and disappointing that Anthony plays zero role in Benophie's book story. (Colin always seems to be the shipper-sprite popping in to move his siblings' love stories along.) You'd think as Head of the Family with a stick up his bum about propriety, Anthony would have a LOT of feelings about Benedict, his closest brother and the Spare to the Bridgerton name marrying a bastard maid.
If I were writing Benophie's season, I think it would be rather comical and adorable for Anthony to be clueless about the obvious pining happening between his brother and the new lady's maid, until the women of the family (Kate, Violet, maybe Eloise) spell it out for him that Ben has something going on with Sophie. Then he's gonna be Big Mad. He's going to be concerned from a lot of angles. To your point, he may encourage Benedict to keep Sophie as a mistress, but only if Sophie is relieved as their maid and goes to live elsewhere. He definitely won't want to risk his brother knocking up a member of household staff and causing a scandal a la Nigel Berbrooke. I also imagine Benedict is going to wax poetic, proclaiming his love and intent to run away with Sophie which will upset Anthony more, worried for his brother's reputation and not wanting to lose him as a close confidante. Anthony may even suspect Sophie is an opportunistic seductress - he doesn't know her - and may try himself to break off their relationship.
But he'll come to understand. Through conversations with Sophie and/or Kate and/or Violet, Anthony will be forced to recognize Sophie's good qualities and the true love she has with Benedict and then...he'll be their champion. He will do everything he can to smooth over details of Sophie's backstory and help them get married in a non-scandalous fashion, and he will rain hellfire on any member of the ton who dares to question the pairing of his brother and mysterious sister-in-law. Anthony and Sophie will become closely bonded through their traumas and strengths. Different though they are, their principles and love for Benedict are the same. What Anthony once thought would be his greatest headache turns into one of his most cherished relationships. I could go on and on and on but I've already written an essay.
TL;DR in the show I'd love Anthony to be 1) oblivious; 2) agitated; and then 3) supportive of Benophie's relationship. But see also how I tackle it in my fix-it version of the book, Let Me Be Your Anchor.
Thank you for this ask - I loved it!

🎇In a world that often seems to demand perfection, it’s important to remember that your imperfections are what make you beautifully human. You don’t have to have it all together all the time; it’s okay to stumble and to take your time finding your footing again. Life’s about growth, not just success, and every time you pick yourself up after a fall, you’re becoming stronger, more resilient, and more compassionate. Embrace your journey, with all its ups and downs, knowing that each moment is shaping you into someone truly remarkable🎇
Thank you nonny!
Sending this out into the tumblr-verse for all who need to read it this morning!
