It's super great that the postcard I got from Hozier was First Light, cause that ended up being my favorite song (tied with the de selbys, of course) ((although it's like choosing a favorite child, I love the album so much))

Anyway, it's because it's the most personal. It feels like when I woke up and decided I was divorcing my husband. I had been waffling for around a year, but one morning, I just thought, "That's it. I'm done. No more of this." And First Light feels that so hard.

You know what makes me sit in silence everytime i think about it?

The fact that Andrew was attracted to every version of Neil.

He thought he was hot when he still had his brown eyes/brown hair

He thought he was hot when he had blue eyes/brown hair

He thought he was hot when he had blue eyes/auburn hair and the number 4 tattooed under his eye. ”you are a pipe dream“ , he said, looking at Neils bruised and most honest self.

Then Baltimore. Neil got tortured. Got bruised all over his skin, scars that’ll never be forgotten and what does Andrew do? He asks yes or no and kisses his hip.

It sure af wasn’t love at first sight but the fact that his initial attraction never faded gives you a hint about what Neil is for Andrew.

(Not to mention how the versions of Neil changed the more Andrew learned about Neil as well. First he was Neil. Then he was Abram. Then he was Nathaniel. Until he finally became Neil Abram Josten.

All the lies. All the truths. It all came together and Andrew was there during all of it).

and if I start talking about Neil falling for Andrew the more he learned about him and the role he took over-

I saw that video of Hozier with his dad at MSG playing The Weight. And I cried. Not just for the general sentimentality of it, but I grew up with a dad that played blues harmonica and loves blues music (he's still alive, fyi.) He's 75 at this point, but he can still wail on harmonica, and loves The Weight, The Band specifically. I always told him if I got famous, we would sing and play that together. And watching Andrew do that song with his dad, I've never felt more connected to a celebrity before. I know this is parasocial, but dammit, how can this person be this connected to who I am? How can this one individual occupy the same space my own mind does? How can his (at least public) persona match up with my own? It's not fair that he's a celebrity, that I'll never truly know him, cause I consider him a good friend in my mind, and it feels cruel that a person I feel I would click with so well has to be in this kind of position in my life.

A few thoughts under the cut!

Andrew works at a coffee shop in a college town, so far with all the foxes except Aaron, and Neil’s been far away on the run. I’ve been putting Robin in this one and I bet Seth hangs around the shop for Allison. Aaron will pick up a shift or two but mostly he’s focusing on school.

Anyway one day in a cold winter a new guy comes into the shop looking to warm up, and Andrew just happens to be working the register (rare). It’s hard to tell with the mask, but this guy doesn’t seem to be much older than him or the team, and Andrew can catch glances of bandages and band-aids under his clothes.

He becomes a regular through winter, but none of the baristas can decide on his name because he gives a different one every time he comes in.
