A picture of Subject-GL

Subject-GL, informally known as Guiding Light, is one of the unusual children taken in by the facility, referred to as “Entities”. She is the first subject retrieved, arriving in late spring 7 years ago. She is the only non-hostile subject, often acting as a sort of bulwark against the other, more aggressive subjects. Access to the outside area, activities, and supplies should be unrestricted, due to her calm temperament and aversion to harming others. Subject-GL is a 14 year old girl of unknown origin, with unnaturally cyan eyes, and despite hair dye being prohibited at the facility, her hair remains a blue gradient. Called by the name Guiding Light by the other subjects and some staff, she is quite kind and helpful, often valuing the life and happiness of others over herself. The other subjects have been recorded calling her “Guidi” instead of her usual name, but no staff has attempted to refer to her this way. It is unknown if the nickname is an endearment or an insult, but care should be taken regardless. The facility medical staff has diagnosed her with general anxiety, which she manages well most of the time.

Subject-GL in her Architect Form

All subjects have some sort of rage form, but unlike the others, Subject-GL’s ability is triggered by another subject’s ability activating. In this form, she gains a pair of wings, and the ability to produce wooden crosses, dubbed Crucifixes by the others. It is worth noting that none of the subjects are religious, so it is unclear why these crosses are effective against the other subjects. Guiding Light is especially useful in this form, which is referred to as her Architect Form in her own words. The crucifixes only affect the other subjects when they are in their own rage-states, and unlike the other subjects, Subject-GL maintains her lucidity in her Architect Form, and is caused significant emotional distress. Her anxiety is quite intense during these episodes, especially due to her role of facing her friends in their feral states to prevent life lost. All staff are to treat her with courtesy and kindness, and Guiding Light in return will be respectful and supportive.

hiya! some six or seven years ago, i requested that you paint an andaman treepie — my favorite bird — and then asked you to put the drawing on redbubble. i used the phone case until yesterday, when i got the replacement! in that time, i took my phone to eight different countries, graduated college twice, and got dozens of compliments on my phone case — and, this winter, finally saw one of these guys in the wild for the first time in years!! i just thought it was really cool to see how, well, well-loved he got. thank you so much for the beautiful art!

I remember drawing this bird and you asking to have it up on the store! Gosh, that was a while ago. I keep forgetting that I still have redbubble. I got the notification that something was bought the other day and went 'huh, like those ones that got requested'.

I'm so glad that it's served you well and that you've gotten so much done! Faded as it is the birdy is still there and I hope the new one can last just as long. I'm happy that you've gotten to see a treepie as well!! It's been a long six years, I've been to England twice now to see my girlfriend, gotten a new job and done so much more with my art than I thought I would. Drawing these birds has been a steady constant and something to look forward to. No idea when it's going to end nowadays lol it just keeps going on and on.

49. Does either of them have a hard time being away from the other? Ummm... While things are left unresolved, yes. Very much so. They can both pretend they're fine but they're so super Not Fine!!! Once they're established they want to be together and they enjoy being together but they can handle being apart, just as long as they're still communicating. (And not running headlong into danger to "spare" the other. Nick.) Eventually, he settles down and she's not ready to do so, but he trusts her, and she always comes back. There's no fear of her running away.

57. Whose the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart? Nick will keep Tiffany on the straight-and-narrow in terms of "honey that's not on your list and you don't need it," but they both throw random shit into the grocery cart. He just knows what her financial situation is (not great) and so does try to stem her overspending on fruit and novelty food items. ("Hello Kitty cup noodles, Nick!" "you don't even like that flavor")

42. What's their favorite type of weather to enjoy together? (getting snowed in together, watching thunderstorms, etc.) Being out in the sun!! Following that, watching the rain. They're two summery people who love sunbathing (with sunscreen), enjoying a nice walk in the evening, going to the beach/pool, summer sports, the whole thing. Don't put either of them near the snow, they will get so sad and cold and it's just a bad time for everyone. Gunsmoke weather? They'd prefer not to have any weather, except rain (thank you Darcy), but the geysers are pretty cool. Tiff gets sandsick and so spends sand weather curled up in bed.
