Sunbathing and shrios for the prompts? 👀

This was supposed to be a micro story (original post here!), but here's 500 words about Thane sunbathing instead.

In case anyone in the Shrios community hasn't seen it yet... @angstyastro is drawing some bonkers Thane pics and tbh I'm thirsting. I've adopted a couple of features from their Thane (with permission!!!!) and we get a little sneak peak here.

Suns Out, Buns Really Fucking Hot Assassin Abs Out

Walking down the shuttle ramp, stretching and turning her face up to the sun, Shepard felt a couple of joints satisfyingly pop. They spent too long cramped in the ship and while she was nearly dozing off at the galaxy map, she stumbled across this planet. Inhabited, desert, fueling station.

After a brief almost-altercation with Joker about fueling up planetside (“You know we fuel up, in space, right? We don’t land on planets to do that anymore. Did that last mission knock something loose in your head?”) and announcing a mandatory shore leave, they were on their way.

Shepard took in a deep, unadulterated lungful of air. Not recycled; pure. She let it out with a smile. The sun was warm and she felt vindicated in this choice, fully intending to rub it in Joker’s face after their 24 hours of tanning, drinking, and whatever else the crew wanted to get up to.

A glimmer of emerald green sparkled in the corner of her eye. Her mouth dropped open.

Two ramshackle chairs were set up on the side of the Normandy, one already occupied by Thane. He was lounging, lounging, in that shitty little chair like it was a throne… and he was… her brain just about melted out of her ears.

He was shirtless, jacketless, and damned near pantless (the shorts he wore barely qualified as bottoms). The sun soaked into his black scales while bouncing off in shimmering arcs along his green scales. It was confusing to her human eyes, but she couldn't stop staring. His eyes were closed and he seemed more in his element than ever.

“You might wanna close your mouth there, Shep,” Jack said from behind her on the ramp. “Something might fly in there.”

She snapped her mouth shut with an audible crack of her teeth.

“Nice.” Jack let out a snort and rolled her eyes.

“Uhh-” Shepard hurriedly tried to think of something, anything, to say.

“There’s two chairs over there,” Jack thankfully interrupted her. “Why don’t you go sit your ass down in one and stop being so fuckin’ weird.” Shepard glanced over at him and made a little noise in the back of her throat.

She haltingly made her way over to him, leaving a small crowd behind to watch her. She prayed to whatever god was listening that Jack didn’t shout anything lewd and make her more nervous.

Her eye caught on two black stripes along his abdomen, leading her eye lower and lower and lower until they disappeared under the top of his pants. Suddenly everything felt hot and clammy, something she would entirely blame on the sun, but was clearly her internal processors running at max capacity.

“Siha,” he said in a soft voice. Shepard had to snap her eyes up to his face, trying desperately to come up with an excuse as to why she was blatantly staring at his- “Join me?” Thane was smiling up at her, almost as bright as the sun.

She smiled back.

“I would love to.”

A rarepair you didn't know you needed in your life (why have one turian dilf in a fic if you can have two). Hard hitting and packed full of emotion, but also exploring a lot of backstory between them and their sons.

NoisyNoiverns' Kryterius collection

G, 13 oneshots and shortfics, Kryterius

A set of 13 Kryterius fics, mostly set in a no-reaper AU, spanning their long lives. Everything from light hearted joking about to the sweetest of fluff. I would particularly highlight “When the Lights Go Down”, also highly recommend checking out their Desolas/Abrudas pieces.

An exciting AU where Shepard never joins the Alliance, Garrus is a Spectre, and they meet Tali on Earth.

Complete with lovely illustrations by heavenlyeros. Gentle, slow, and introspective. Really wonderfully written all around, a gem of an introduction to a(nother) rarepair you didn't know you needed in your life.

A first contact AU fic where Shepard and a certain lost Turian fall in love, comes with plenty of seriousness, silliness, shenanigans, and some smut to top it off.

This piece still floors me every time, Saren being this soft just stops my heart mid beat, honestly it's something I've lately felt more and more need to indulge myself in. It's so slow but hits like a fully loaded train, all the emotion is expertly hidden just under the surface. Probably one of the best pieces of writing I've had the pleasure of reading, period.

Happy STS! Quick, your characters house/apartment/dwelling is on fire! What’s one thing they absolutely won’t leave without, even risking their lives to go retrieve it before going to safety?

Nyar: the crew. He really is pretty minimalistic, so as long as the crew is safe, he doesn't care.

Caelum: his Bible. He knows it may be a little cliche, but he's going back for it anyway.

Avanda: if she didn't already have it her first aid bag. Otherwise the sword she got from Thane on her Coronation day.

Thane:his journal. He can't help that he's a poet. He's poured so much of his life in there, his anguish and joy, that it would feel like leaving a part of himself in there

Carina: honestly she isn't very materialistic either. Maybe she would grab Nyar's violin on her way out? Or one of Thane's books? She's more likely to squirrel away something for someone else.

Jalev: assuming Jadè has made it out, I'm not sure there's anything he'd go back for.

Jadè: she has a stuffed animal that she can't sleep without. She'll deny it if you ask, but thats what she'd save

Ewan: after getting his brothers out, he'd go back for his father's sword. (He wears his mother's necklace constantly, so he would have that already.)

Adair: his mother's instruction book. Filled with every plant and how to use it. He's made notes in it, and he leans on it honestly.

WIP At-Midnight-When-I-Should-Be-Sleeping

So back at the start of summer I wrote a super rough draft of a shakarios fic and then dropped it because c'est la vie. It’s a oneshot of what happened immediately after the Collector ship in ME2.

this fic is a hot mess with trying to be comedy to a random strange nsfw scene (shep wants to watch our boys go at it and honestly yeah same) to fucking dark crazy Shep who is having a psychotic break to Thane and Garrus worrying about her to maybe cuddles who knows. anyways here’s a little snippet from the Lighthearted Scene, lmao

“Never would have thought I would have the words of wisdom to give,” Garrus muttered. Thane let out a small laugh.

“You do not give yourself enough credit,” Thane said.

“Sure,” Garrus said with a very human roll of his eyes. “What do you think we’ll find when we get there?”

“We are not far behind. How much trouble could they be in already?” Thane asked.

“Are you kidding me? They’re all in there. Every single one of them,” Garrus punctuated his sentence with a stab of his talon on the elevator button. “If they haven’t broken something already then I’d be surprised.”

They rode the elevator in a comfortable silence. Garrus’s mind on all the times they rode this elevator in the middle of the night, making out on their way up to Shepard’s cabin. He wanted to grab Thane and make him forget about all his worries. Garrus was just about to punch Shepard’s floor instead of getting drunk with the rest of the crew - he thought she might enjoy the sight of the two of them in her bed - and honestly he was getting himself all worked up, when EDI spoke in the elevator.

“Garrus, Thane,” Her voice was controlled and measured. “Your presence has been requested in, as the Commander specified, Kasumi’s room.”

Garrus snorted. She was already wasted enough to forget which side of the ship she was on, he just knew it.

The elevator dinged on the crew deck and Legion was there. They had streamers over the plates on their... head. Garrus didn’t know geth anatomy, but it looked like Legion had been decorated and it was getting all caught up in their brow plates. Eye brows? Brow ridge? Garrus was getting his alien anatomy all mixed up and he wasn’t even drunk yet.

“Uh,” Garrus tried to think of something quick to say. Thane stared impassively at the geth.

“Shepard-Commander has requested that we escort you,” Legion said. Their brow plates lifted up.

This is the first actual mission that Thane has to sit out of. He knows it’s for the best for his diminishing health, he knows it’s what he requested, he knows Shepard is more than capable, as is the rest of the Normandy crew. But he thought he would be better at this. 

Thane had (mostly) retired once before, and he recalls the same period of restlessness at first. So he tells himself it will pass. But this is not a hardened killer trying to settle into a life of domesticity; this is a man who has already lost one love listening to his others risk their lives on the ground. He had underestimated his emotional response to this. 

He had also overestimated Joker’s patience. 

“Okay, this? This is not going to be a thing,” Joker snaps at him, swiveling in his chair. “It was bad enough when Steve insisted on being trained up here. But you are not going to haunt me up here when there is a perfectly good ship-wide intercom system for you to check in on Shepard and Garrus every five seconds like you clearly want to do.” 

“But that would distract them,” Thane replies, wringing his hands. 

“Listen man—I get being grounded because your body fucking sucks. But this here is my territory, and I’m feeling very territorial right now. I can’t even hear you pacing back there! Do you know how creepy that is?” 

Thane does, actually. Not that he can help it, since at this point in his life, making noise when he moves would require active thought. 

“You weren’t even with her on every single ground mission before, why do you have to be clingy now?” Joker demands, eyes narrowed. 

“I’m worried,” Thane insists. That’s not a crime. (Nor a character defect, as Joker apparently thinks.) “Before there were… options. For me to join her, and she would have sound reasons for who she chose to accompany her. But she is losing crew, and—” 

“And she dragged a clown car with six squadmates through the Saren bit of history, and that turned out fine,” Joker interrupts. 

“Someone died then,” Thane has to point out, because Joker is being just as unreasonable as he perceives Thane to be right now. “I know you worry too, Joker. You have had years of experience being away from the front lines. I have not.” 

“Damn right I worry, but at least I don’t crowd into your space to do it. Silently.” 

Thane ensures to make noise with his next few steps. 

Joker spins his chair back around with a mighty roll of his eyes. 

“Ground team to Normandy,” Shepard’s voice comes in over the comms. Her high human voice has never sounded so sweet. “We’re, uh, about wrapped up here, actually.” 

“…It’s been twenty minutes,” Joker replies. 

“Siha, is everything alright?” Thane has to add. 

“Oh, yeah, also your lizard boyfriend is about to become my boyfriend with how close he’s getting. This isn’t gonna become a thing, is it, Shepard?” Joker grouses. 

Shepard’s sigh is staticky over their connection. “No, but there’s a lot of other things that are becoming things shortly.” 

Thane wonders if his translator is glitching.
