There are many reasons to not go in for nuclear power and some reasons to go in for it after all.
Against:
1. It takes so many damn years to build. We'll be 20 years on and far past our carbon budget. That HUGE (they are insanely expensive) amount of money could have been spent on something more scalable. Nuclear is not scalable. Wind and solar are extremely scalable (and cheaper every day). One reason is that renewable plants (e.g a mill) are small and a repeated construction. Expertise for constructing renewables is widely available, nuclear plant construction expertise is in short supply. Counter (a bit weak): even if it takes ages to build, still, we're not on schedule for non-fossil fuel use anyway, so it will probably unfortunately still be relevant in twenty years.
2. A nuclear plant is a national security risk. One: in times of war. 2: in times of natural disaster. No counter to that except: surely war won't be THAT bad and the failsafes will always be enough.
3. Sourcing the concrete, steel and uranium that goes into such a plant isn't good for the environment. Nor is uranium renewable. Current stocks and use would provide us with 130 years of energy production. Build more plants, that number goes down. Counter: producing any power plant requires mining and transport - coal plants and renewables do too, for example.
4. Nuclear waste is a non-negligible problem. There are (war) incentives NOT to reduce waste. Even when waste is minimised, waste remains. Highly dangerous waste can kill people for longer than any society on earth has ever survived. 500.000 years... So no society can reasonably take responsibility for it. When nuclear waste is stored and then spills (as has happened in Germany) the state must pay billions in taxes to clean it up. Storage is difficult. There are NO permanent storage sites ready in all of Europe. There's about 180 plants now that have ran for decades. No permanent storage. If a company is made responsible for a nuclear plant, they tend to pay out to their shareholders one year and claim not to be able to take care of the waste for fear of bankruptcy the next - or they've already declared bankruptcy. Literally happened here. There are no incentives to deal responsibly with the waste for companies. Germany is projected to have to pay hundreds of billions of euros for permanently storing all the waste they've still got lying around at interim sites. Once again, money which might have been spent on scalable renewable production. 500.000 years... this a storage solution must last for 500.000 years. Ever seen concrete last so long... ?
5. We're seeing nuclear crowd out renewables RIGHT NOW IN REAL TIME in politics in the Netherlands and the UK. The money (and project managemeny time) really cannot be spent twice.

6. Fossil fuels have done way more damage to the environment so far. Nuclear is preferable. In fact, 20% of European electricity and 10% of total energy is provided by nuclear power plants. 180. Plants. All renewables combined provide 17%. No real counter to that: they really do produce a lot of electricity without emitting greenhouse gases! Importantly: they don't need a lot of space. (Nuclear on the whole causes about as many greenhouse gases as wind energy equivalent and even slightly less than solar. Forty times less than coal.)
7. Nuclear is a proven way to produce a LOT of power. Weak counter: this makes it a liability in the electricity grid and incentivises less maintenance to minimise downtime (if no other plants can take over - generally not if they're too big. This makes them unreliable, just like renewables). Counter to that counter: much smaller (scalable) plants are being developed. Counter to that counter: they're experimental. The thorium reactors thay produce shorter lived waste are also experimental. I.e. it will take decades before we can build operational versions. (BUT! there's an ENORMOUS amount of thorium on earth, which is extremely important. Waste is much less problematic and meltdown impossible)
8. Nuclear plants that are not traditional baseload only plants and have load following capabilities can play a role in managing the ups and downs of renewables on the grid. Counter: even when built for this purpose, it's impossible to make enough money to pay for the construction and management and deconstruction and waste management by only running these plants as buffer. This is a problem because companies are asked to construct the plants, not the state. Counter 2: in a hybrid system with renewables the grid operator actually has to PAY OFF (millions) the nuclear plant to stop it producing so much. It's a liability in a hybrid system with renewables.
Final conclusion:
CURRENT nuclear power plant construction does not play well with the transition to renewables because there is no way in this financial system to use its production as a buffer, the state cannot produce the plants because there is a lack of expertise, companies cannot afford to run the plant as buffer and cannot be trusted and ideologically and politically nuclear power is proposed as an alternative to renewables instead of a complement which cuts into the much-needed financial resources necessary for renewable expansion. It is slow to build and badly scalable. We need speed and scalability considering our climate deadline. There is no permanent solution for waste and takes billions of euros to store right now already. Uranium is a scarce and non-renewable resource. Existing plants impede the transition to renewables (there is no need). They form a liability for continued production when it comes to short term production for the grid when needing maintenance and long term liability for energy production when they need to be decommissioned (France is dependent for 3/4ths on many plants that must be decommissioned at the same time). Nonetheless, existing plants are preventing a large amount of carbon emissions. Nuclear can be a useful element to the energy mix, and requires a lot less space than renewables. If innovations in scalable, smaller plants with increasingly better business cases, faster build times and ability to offload production to each other, there may be serious synergy with renewables. Still, these will be useful for 50-100 years until uranium runs out. Problematic, not just because it leaves us with expertise and infrastructure that will have no fuel, but also because we need to transition FAST and it's uncertain in how many years this technology will be operational. Thorium would be a solution to a lot of problems, but that is also decades away from operation. Putting money into research and test reactors is a priority. Decommissioning existing plants early would be stupid even if it would remove their contributions to transition intertia and the as of yet unsolved and increasing waste storage problem.

Yet, there has not yet been a manufacturer to release a fully electric or hybrid RV in North America that has stayed on the market. We will examine a few of the pros and cons to the future of electric RVs below.  Pros Lowering your environmental footprint Of course the main draw to an electric RV is the ability to substantially lower your environmental footprint. In the near future electric RVs may eliminate the need for gas powered features completely. Yet they are considerably smaller than an RV. Currently there are a few companies currently developing the technology for fully electric RVs in North America. The most promising being the up and coming e-RV by Winnebago. Their future models are no bigger than a Ford Sprinter and promise a driving range of up to 125 miles. While this is nothing to scoff at, it certainly is not living up to the larger current RVs with 100 gallon fuel tanks that can go up to 800 miles between refuelling. There are other companies in the mix that have future concepts in the works with ranges between 125 to 400 miles, however these are just concepts for the time being. Surely many RV owners would have a hard time planning for a recharge stop every 100 - 125 miles. Another thing to note would be the time it takes for a full charge at each stop. Winnebago promises their 125 mile range model would only take 45 minutes. So we can imagine how long stronger batteries may take. Charging station issues. How many electric vehicle charging stations do you pass each day? Are they in convenient locations? Many people have trouble spotting charging stations. The reason for this is because there is a mass shortage of them currently. Especially on cross country highways. If your RV trip is taking you across the country, or into neighbouring countries and you need to stop every 125 miles to charge, you might be out of luck in some areas. Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System
What's Reverse Osmosis?
It amazes me how many people still buy bottled water for their home. It's time for you to educate yourself. You're wasting your time, energy, landfill space and money...Lots.
Reverse osmosis is a process that purifies water through pressure. Did you know that many bottled water producers use reverse osmosis to purify the water they sell? This is a fact many people don't know.
Everyone will soon be able to reap the many benefits of reverse Osmosis. Only a few years ago, reverse osmosis equipment was available for household use. It was previously used primarily by large corporations and the U.S. Government to purify non-potable water supplies around the globe. It was and is still used to purify seawater on large commercial and military ships.
Although reverse  Reverse Osmosis Flux Equation osmosis (RO), is sometimes called filtration, it is actually much more complicated than that. It is sometimes described as a filter, because it is easier to understand using these terms. The osmosis phenomenon, for example, is the way our blood feeds every cell in our bodies. Our blood travels into our cells through tiny capillaries to supply nutrients that sustain their life.
 Take a glass jar with water. Place a semi-permeable membrane inside it. This membrane mimics a cell's wall. Divide the jar in two and then place water on each side of the membrane. Nothing happens. However, you'll notice that the water level on the salty side of the jar begins to rise faster than the unsalted. This is natural osmotic tension at work. Both solutions will attempt to achieve the same level or equilibrium on both sides of the membrane using the unsalted water passing through it to dilute salty water. This process will continue until salt water's "head pressure" exceeds the difference between the two solutions.
Researchers discovered a way to use this natural osmotic process to purify ocean water. They discovered that they could "manufacture" clean water by using the same semi-permeable membrane. If they put salty water in it with enough pressure, the natural osmotic pressure can be overcome.
The amount of TDS (salt or total dissolved solids) that a membrane has to reduce will vary depending on its design and the material it is made from. Different minerals have different rejection rates. For example, the typical TFC membrane (Thin Film Composite), has a 99.5% removal rate for Barium and Radium 226-228, but only 85.9% and 94.0% respectively for Fluoride, and Mercury. Proper feed-water pressures are another factor that affects the contamination removal rates.
Is Reverse Osmosis water safe to drink?
Reverse osmosis water can be safely drank. This purified water is safer than water with high levels of mineral (TDS). High TDS water, which has a TDS count above 50ppm, can actually become electrically charged and conduct very little electric current. If the conditions are right, high TDS water can even cause an electric light bulb to be illuminated. High TDS water is usually a solution lacking in hydrogen molecules. This water can cause cellular dehydration. Reverse Osmosis water that has low TDS, on the other hand is much more able to conduct electric charges. Reverse Osmosis water tends to be slightly acidic and laden with positively charged hydrogen molecules (H+). This water is superior in hydrating cells, according to scientific research.
What is the Different Between Conventional Water Filtration & Reverse Osmosis.
Although a conventional filtration system such as one found in a refrigerator will produce water that tastes good, it won't remove Total Dissolved solids such as SODIUM and MANGANESE. These substances are also present in municipal taps and well water. The typical residential reverse osmosis system uses a combination of conventional filtering to remove sediment and other solids, and activated carbon adsorption to remove organic compounds, pesticides, and VOC's before the membrane. It produces water that is almost as pure as distilled water, and requires virtually no energy. The RO system works with a typical household water pressure of 40psi.
As with many other new technologies, reverse osmosis systems were initially only available to the public sector when they first became available. They were not affordable for the common household consumer and were only used in commercial settings. The membranes were inefficient and a waste of water. In recent years, the technology has advanced to the point that it is now an affordable option, more efficient, and easier for average consumers. The typical residential reverse-osmosis system can achieve a recovery rate between 30 and 25%. This means that for every gallon water supplied to an RO system, about 1/3 of a gallon will be purified water and 2/3 will be waste water. The majority of residential installations just flush the wastewater down the drain. Water waste can be caused by the nature of reverse osmosis. If this is a concern, you can dispose of it in the trash. However, the options for reusing the wastewater are endless.
 Reverse Osmosis is Recognized By the United States EPA
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), one in five Americans consumes tap water that does not comply with the Clean Water Act safety standards. This means that it is probable that your tap water contains a toxic substance, regardless of where you live in the United States.
It's not surprising that so many people purchase bottled water, but right You may be surprised by what you find. According to the US EPA, dangerous contaminants can be found in both bottled and public water supplies. Cysts are one such contaminant and they can be just as gross as they sound. Cysts can be dangerous to anyone, even those with healthy immune systems. To get sick, you don't have to drink the water containing these organisms. Cysts can also be inhaled by brushing your teeth. These cysts are more common than you might think. Over the last few years, the elusive cyst was found in many public water supply systems. Yes, even bottled water has been found to contain cysts.
The EPA recognizes reverse osmosis as a method to eliminate cysts. US EPA recommends the use of reverse osmosis at point-of-use for certain contaminants, such as cysts, found in public water supplies. Reverse osmosis is scientifically proven to be superior to conventional filtration in removing all water contaminants.

I'm pretty new at aquariums and I don't have a c02 system set up and I don't think my petco was even selling it? Am I doing something wrong? If so, where can I get one???? I don't want to hurt my fish!
GREAT NEWS: YOU ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG AND YOU ARE NOT HURTING YOUR FISH. 
Sorry this is going to be long but I love nerding out. 
I probably should have just explained this when I posted the picture of my setup, but carbon dioxide injection is fully not necessary for the VAST majority of tanks, because it is specifically not there to help the fish at all - it’s for plants.
The fact of the matter is that it’s super hard to get those beautiful, lush planted tanks like this:

 ...without supplementing carbon dioxide. The same rules apply for aquarium plants as terrestrial plants: they covert light, water and carbon dioxide into chemical energy through photosynthesis, and then use that chemical energy and nutrients to fuel their growth, creating oxygen as a byproduct. The tricky thing is that there just isn’t a ton of carbon dioxide available underwater. Obviously, plants manage to grow underwater all the time, since some co2 will diffuse through the water when the surface is agitated (like if there’s a current, or waves, or a waterfall etc), and as long as there’s adequate sunlight and nutrients, that can be enough for plants to grow. In fact, there are plenty of aquarium plants that do just fine without co2 supplementation, like java ferns or most mosses. You can basically just chuck them in the tank and forget about them. They’ll take care of themselves.
The reason that java ferns and mosses don’t need supplemental co2 is that they have evolved to be able to grow - slowly - in places where there isn’t a lot of sunlight or carbon dioxide that reaches them. However, other plants (like dwarf hairgrass or dwarf baby tears) evolved in conditions that permitted them to grow -quickly - only with a lot of light and a great deal of available carbon dioxide. I mention hairgrass and dwarf baby tears because they’re some of the most popular plants in the aquarium hobby due to their ability to form dense carpets, which are pretty:

These plants are also really popular because they’re small and resemble common terrestrial plants, which allows people to create visual illusions that make their tanks seem much bigger and more like terrestrial landscapes, like this one made by John Pini:

(notice the co2 system hanging on the side, which is almost certainly not the actual setup that he uses on this tank - Fluval sponsored the aquascaping contest he won with this). It looks like this tank has pheonix moss, maybe one of the liverwort mosses??, monte carlo (the small leafed plants), and some type of mini bucephalandra (the slightly larger leafed plants), which will actually all grow... okay? without supplemented co2, but not with the density that’s captured here. For reference, here’s the same piece of monte carlo that’s been kicking around in my low tech (i.e. no co2) shrimp tank for months (in front of the Plagiomnium affine my snails keep digging up):

and here is what happened to the single piece of leftover Monte Carlo that I stuck in Darkmantle’s high tech (co2 injected) tank at the same time, if you can make it out under all that hairgrass:

So explosive plant growth is really the big benefit in injecting co2 in a planted aquarium, with a major side-benefit of algae control. When algae shows up in your tank, it’s because there is either too much light or too many nutrients (generally this is biological waste from livestock) in the tank for your plants to be able to use. If the plants aren’t using that excess growing energy up because they’re limited by the amount of carbon dioxide in the water, algae, which has much lower requirements for co2 than complex multicellular structures like plants, will happily take advantage of the excess light and nutrients. But if your balance of light, co2, and nutrients are correct, algae can’t get a foothold because your plants will be taking all that available energy first.  
For people who want to try out running a high tech tank, there’s a variety of  ways to do it. On a very basic level, all you need is 1) a source of carbon dioxide, and 2, a way to get it into the water. At the very lowest price point, there’s DIY systems like this one that rely on chemical interactions (usually citric acid and baking soda or sometimes yeast) to generate CO2, which is then forced through airline tubing into a diffuser (usually a ceramic disk that breaks up big bubbles of co2 into lots of little bubbles) inside the tank.  There’s a few problems with this system: the chemical reactions are really hard to keep going at a stable level that doesn’t result in huge spikes in the amount of co2 being emitted, or, alternatively, the pressure building up in the bottles won’t be enough to actually go through the airline. 
Because DIY co2 is finicky (and cleaning can be a pain in the ass) a lot of people, including me, like using pressurized co2 systems. The problem is that there’s not a ton of commercial products that are really adequate for the job that don’t cost a ridiculous amount. While you can certainly drop $600 on a professional system, most people, for obvious reasons, don’t want to do that. Instead, they might try out a system like the little kit Fluval sells, which I mentioned almost certainly was not used in creating that award winning aquascape:

Why do I feel so confident that it wasn’t used? Well, because it kind of sucks. See, an important thing that I didn’t mention is that there is absolutely such a thing as too much co2 in a tank with any animals in it. Animals, you know, need oxygen. Co2 is their output product. Put too much co2 in a tank, and it’ll be exactly the same result as if there is too much co2 and not enough oxygen in a sealed environment that you’re in: death promptly ensues. So when we add co2 to an aquarium, we want to do so in a very measured way that permits the plants to get enough without impacting our livestock at all. There’s a bunch of different things you can use to make sure you’re doing that right, like drop checkers, which contain a chemical that changes color based on the amount of co2 in the water, or bubble counters, which allow you to visually monitor how much of an invisible gas is going into the tank, but the most important thing to stress here is that the amount of co2 that is safe to use when the plants are actively photosynthesizing is NOT the same amount that is safe to have in the tank when the lights are off. Here, the knob on that little kit depicted above is the ONLY way to turn the co2 on or off, or to vary how much is going into the tank, and frankly, that’s a terrible system. The rate of release is not steady, so you have to constantly fiddle with it, and of course you need to remember to manually turn the damn thing on and off every day, which is a pain in the ass. Also, that co2 canister is TINY and it’s not refillable, so you’ll spend hundreds in replacement cartridges before you know it. 
The 600 dollar professional kits I’ve mentioned have built in ways to counter those issues, but like I said, nobody wants to drop 600 bucks. The good thing is that you can cobble something together that does the same exact thing as a professional system for a fraction of the cost. All you need is 1. a regulator with a solenoid; and 2. a refillable paintball co2 tank. The regulator is the most important piece of equipment - it’s what allows you to adjust the amount of co2 that goes into the system, and it needs to be reliable. Luckily, there are some GREAT regulators on Amazon in the 60-70 dollar range that are incredibly reliable and come with a solenoid - that’s a magnetic valve that is ONLY open when it’s plugged in. The upshot is that if you use a timer plug or a smart plug, you can just automate when your co2 runs so that it’s only going at the same time as your lights. Then... just go to a sporting goods store, get your paintball tank filled, screw the regulator on, run some tubing into a cheap ceramic diffuser in your tank, and boom, you’ve saved 500 bucks for an extremely effective and easy to use kit that gives you professional results. 
Or... you can just not be like me, save yourself the time, money, and energy, and JUST GROW FUCKING JAVA FERNS INSTEAD, TST, YOU PRETENTIOUS ASSHOLE.

20 Sustainable Living Ideas That Actually Help the Planet
1. Ditch paper towels for clean-up rags In 2017, Americans spent nearly $6 billion on paper towels for their homes. That’s a lot of money to spend on something you use for 10 seconds and then throw in the trash! Even if you compost your paper towels, they still come packaged in single use plastic. Luckily, there’s a dead simple solution to the paper towel conundrum: cloth rags. You don’t need fancy “unpaper towels”, though they certainly look fun and tidy on a roll. Any absorbent cloth will do. Just keep clean rags in a readily accessible place (ours are folded in a pile under the sink), and use a small bin to collect them when they’re soiled. 2. Make your own cleaning products DIY cleaning products are a popular crossover between frugal and sustainable living ideas. It’s amazing what you can do–and how much plastic you can avoid–by mixing a few basic ingredients in a spray bottle! 3.
