Fantasy flash fiction prompts: ⏳🌳 An ancient sentient tree

Darius gave a heavy tired sigh as he settled on the shaded ground under a large tree of some sort of willow variety. He tested his rifle on his thighs, rested his head back against the trunk and closed his eyes.

Just a moment's reprieve and he would be-

A deep giggle broke out, somehow shaking the trunk of the great tree and the ground. Royal blue eyes flew open as Darius jumped to his feet, rifle at the ready.

"Oho, my apologies," a deep voice said. "I'm a bit ticklish"

Darius stared at the tree for a moment, not comprehending where the voice was coming from. Even as he watched the bark of the trunk shuffle and seamlessly change revealing a kind weathered face of an old man.

The tree winked.

1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

I would say somewhere in between! Though I do like to plan before writing, so I guess there's a fair bit of daydreaming

19. Do you enjoy creating OCs or do you prefer to stick solely to canon characters?

I prefer writing canon characters since I write mostly canon compliant. I also love hearing about others' OCs though 💞

41. Who’s your favorite character you’ve written?

This might come as a surprise, but maybe Takemichi. I almost always end up writing Kisaki POVs because I adore writing him too, but something about writing about Takemichi and his experiences as a time leaper is so much fun. It's kind of even more fun to write about Takemichi through the lens of someone who has no idea what he's going through (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) some scrumptious dramatic irony

58. Do you have a favorite piece of figurative language you’ve written?

Hm, I don't think so. I probably have several fics where I call the Tenjiku uniform blood-coloured or play with that idea though

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

Once I start writing, I get excited about the prospect of reading something with a really specific idea/concept ^^ (ie, having a fic about a rare pair with the rainy day trope🌧️) I also look forward to sharing the ideas with others and chatting about it 💗

I had some icecream!! Where I'm staying with my 42 something cousins has an ice maker machine so! We brought some icecream stuff!!

30: What's irritating you right now?

My braces!!!! I hate them!! My teeth always feel dirty and that is such a sensory issue for me, but hopefully I get used to it!!

Within the last week I had 2 really good meals. The first was gnocchi with a spicy tomato sauce that I made. The second was homemade chicken noodle soup that my bf made for me when I felt sick last week! It was sooooo good!!

So what were the circumstances of Jays adoption in the libber super hell au?

Did she put him up for adoption with an adoption agency or did she leave him on Ed and Edna’s doorstep

If it’s the second one then why did she choose that particular couple to leave him with? was it because she knew them or was it just because she was in the area?

she chose the walkers specifically. in pretty much all my aus, i like to have the walkers be just normal people whose kindness touched libber in some way.

i sort of have this headcanon that libber has a tendency to end up with shitty partners. its no fault of her own, shes only ever kind, but the world is cruel to her. shes a bit of a tragedy story to me. when ice - the previous elemental master of ice that is - was around, he would console her after harsh arguments and shitty breakups with whatever asshole she was with. its unfortunate that cliff doesnt show that side of him until after ice is gone, then.

after a particularly bad argument, libber leaves the house she shares with cliff with little idea of where shes heading and ends up at the junkyard. ed and edna help her a lot that night, comforting a crying stranger on their doorstep. to the walkers, its only the natural response; it doesnt mean nearly as much to them as it does to libber.

and so, when in need again, she seeks this same couple. for this au, i imagine libber intended to come back for jay. he was only ever meant to stay with the walkers temporarily, just until libber had defeated the villain of the week and could safely take care of him again. maybe it would take a month at most, she thought. of course, she doesnt get the opportunity to return.
