Fantasy flash fiction prompts: ⏳🌳 An ancient sentient tree

Darius gave a heavy tired sigh as he settled on the shaded ground under a large tree of some sort of willow variety. He tested his rifle on his thighs, rested his head back against the trunk and closed his eyes.

Just a moment's reprieve and he would be-

A deep giggle broke out, somehow shaking the trunk of the great tree and the ground. Royal blue eyes flew open as Darius jumped to his feet, rifle at the ready.

"Oho, my apologies," a deep voice said. "I'm a bit ticklish"

Darius stared at the tree for a moment, not comprehending where the voice was coming from. Even as he watched the bark of the trunk shuffle and seamlessly change revealing a kind weathered face of an old man.

The tree winked.

I would say somewhere in between! Though I do like to plan before writing, so I guess there's a fair bit of daydreaming

19. Do you enjoy creating OCs or do you prefer to stick solely to canon characters?

I prefer writing canon characters since I write mostly canon compliant. I also love hearing about others' OCs though 💞

41. Who’s your favorite character you’ve written?

This might come as a surprise, but maybe Takemichi. I almost always end up writing Kisaki POVs because I adore writing him too, but something about writing about Takemichi and his experiences as a time leaper is so much fun. It's kind of even more fun to write about Takemichi through the lens of someone who has no idea what he's going through (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) some scrumptious dramatic irony

58. Do you have a favorite piece of figurative language you’ve written?

Hm, I don't think so. I probably have several fics where I call the Tenjiku uniform blood-coloured or play with that idea though

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

Once I start writing, I get excited about the prospect of reading something with a really specific idea/concept ^^ (ie, having a fic about a rare pair with the rainy day trope🌧️) I also look forward to sharing the ideas with others and chatting about it 💗

2. This one has played in my car almost constantly since I saw the band open for Avatar back in May

4. Movie of the year: top contenders are probably Longlegs, Heretic, and Sonic 3. Worst movie I saw this year was Megalopolis. It was too long, and the theme of "wow the American empire and Roman empire are so similar! Really makes you think, huh" felt too surface level and it didn't feel like the movie actually had anything to say about either one. It was so strange yet ungodly boring

I had some icecream!! Where I'm staying with my 42 something cousins has an ice maker machine so! We brought some icecream stuff!!

30: What's irritating you right now?

My braces!!!! I hate them!! My teeth always feel dirty and that is such a sensory issue for me, but hopefully I get used to it!!

eat anything good lately?

Within the last week I had 2 really good meals. The first was gnocchi with a spicy tomato sauce that I made. The second was homemade chicken noodle soup that my bf made for me when I felt sick last week! It was sooooo good!!

How do you draw horns?! I love the way you draw them but just cant figure it out

i like to imagine them as an angular block bc it helps me figure out where it should go because i like chunky horns

im man enough to admit my horns are usually kinda wonky dkdjddj but it doesnt really matter that much on sketchy stuff, as long as youve got the basic shapes right.

other things id say is that its helpful to sketch out the whole horn on the sketch layer if you use one, to see where they connect to the skull and if its symmetrical there.

if you have a character at pretty much any angle other than facing forward, i find theres going to be a different angle on both horns. on my lamb its more obvious, but even on goat there you can see the curve of her horns is slightly different to account for the angle

and honestly this is the most generic advice but just... draw them over and over, when i started drawing lamb like a year ish ago, their horns were still curly but they looked totally different, i just slowly morphed them into a stlye i liked more after drawing them so many times lmao

Anyways it's a yum yum different origin story kind of AU whereby an Archivists Orion Pax never once crossed path with Gladiator Megatron(us) and instead finally meets when both are leaders of their own political faction, discussing terms to avoid civil war and splitting Cybertron into two.
