Darius gave a heavy tired sigh as he settled on the shaded ground under a large tree of some sort of willow variety. He tested his rifle on his thighs, rested his head back against the trunk and closed his eyes.

Just a moment's reprieve and he would be-

A deep giggle broke out, somehow shaking the trunk of the great tree and the ground. Royal blue eyes flew open as Darius jumped to his feet, rifle at the ready.

"Oho, my apologies," a deep voice said. "I'm a bit ticklish"

Darius stared at the tree for a moment, not comprehending where the voice was coming from. Even as he watched the bark of the trunk shuffle and seamlessly change revealing a kind weathered face of an old man.

The tree winked.

I would say somewhere in between! Though I do like to plan before writing, so I guess there's a fair bit of daydreaming

19. Do you enjoy creating OCs or do you prefer to stick solely to canon characters?

I prefer writing canon characters since I write mostly canon compliant. I also love hearing about others' OCs though 💞

41. Who’s your favorite character you’ve written?

This might come as a surprise, but maybe Takemichi. I almost always end up writing Kisaki POVs because I adore writing him too, but something about writing about Takemichi and his experiences as a time leaper is so much fun. It's kind of even more fun to write about Takemichi through the lens of someone who has no idea what he's going through (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) some scrumptious dramatic irony

58. Do you have a favorite piece of figurative language you’ve written?

Hm, I don't think so. I probably have several fics where I call the Tenjiku uniform blood-coloured or play with that idea though

78. What motivates you during the writing process?

Once I start writing, I get excited about the prospect of reading something with a really specific idea/concept ^^ (ie, having a fic about a rare pair with the rainy day trope🌧️) I also look forward to sharing the ideas with others and chatting about it 💗

2. This one has played in my car almost constantly since I saw the band open for Avatar back in May

4. Movie of the year: top contenders are probably Longlegs, Heretic, and Sonic 3. Worst movie I saw this year was Megalopolis. It was too long, and the theme of "wow the American empire and Roman empire are so similar! Really makes you think, huh" felt too surface level and it didn't feel like the movie actually had anything to say about either one. It was so strange yet ungodly boring

I had some icecream!! Where I'm staying with my 42 something cousins has an ice maker machine so! We brought some icecream stuff!!

30: What's irritating you right now?

My braces!!!! I hate them!! My teeth always feel dirty and that is such a sensory issue for me, but hopefully I get used to it!!

Within the last week I had 2 really good meals. The first was gnocchi with a spicy tomato sauce that I made. The second was homemade chicken noodle soup that my bf made for me when I felt sick last week! It was sooooo good!!

Izuru is asked by Nagito (if set during the Tragedy—but Kaede might work better in any universe where she and Izuru cross paths) to play something on the piano.

Izuru, subconsciously feeling defensive of the “hollowness” with which he’s been told he plays, goes for a piece like Debussy’s Estampes I. Pagodes. The sheet music instructs you to play the movement presque sans nuance.

The person listening recognizes Izuru’s choice for what it is: a crutch.

^^presque sans nuance means almost without nuance — a strict tempo, unlike debussy’s other compositions, having lived during the romantic era (most famously clair de lune yes i know do not bring up v3 w me rn.)

UR GALAXY BRAIN UR GALAXY BRAIIINNNNN UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. izuru mistaking rigidness of tempo for lack of expression. or perhaps not mistaking, but knowing he’ll never be able to bring it to life as it was originally envisioned, yet being in denial. desperately hoping his audience will look at the composer’s instructions and excuse it.

but rigid doesnt mean soulless. by no means do u need rubato (tempo fluctuation) to make a piece expressive. pagodes is very rich musically because it makes use of ascending indonesian melodies to paint a picture of pagodas, tall oriental temples (which is cool because u dont see non-european influence in famous piano music often). the piece’s technical difficulty isn’t the impressive part — it’s the grandness of the sound. it just sounds cool to listen to a performer earnestly enjoy what theyre doing and being the original vision to life.

ive always hced komaeda as enjoying piano music, particularly from the romantic era (i actually have a scene in a fic where he geeks out abt it with kaede lol) so i’m sure he knows the story behind each movement. he’d absolutely be able to see izuru’s performance for what it is — a broken record player, helplessly mimicking every genuine performer before him. a forgotten memory of what music actually means.
