left it a little open ended because i couldnt decide how exactly this happens:

1) arceus straight up does give him the ability to understand pokemon. it does not consider this either a blessing or a curse. it is simply allowing him to hear what they've been saying this whole time.

2) going off how iris only understands the hearts of dragons as opposed to n's ability to directly translate, maybe understanding pokemon is some sort of hyper-empathy thing. volo gains such a strong connection with his pokemon through fighting god he can actually understand what they feel

3) his guilty conscience catches up with him and he's imagining this just based on what n told him

either way. get guilt tripped idiot

She parked her car far away from the water after that. So if he ever got his claws on a car, it wasn't hers at least! 😂

It's happened quite a few times, and will continue. It was more dramatic when only Taniel worked because she had no one to cover for her basically. It happens mostly if they're going on a planned leave. It can be in relation to work or just a vacation. He's fine with a few days (they do need their days off work) but if it's a week, or more, he gets very antsy about it.

He's destroyed boat engines and propellers while they're out in the bay, like "whoops I guess you're stuck here now let me get you a fish :)" He's also blocked them from leaving the building in which they stay (they live in a harbor building while on their shifts). Too bad for him he'd fall asleep while bodyblocking the exits, and they snuck out through a window instead. xD

His more recent stunts involve simply snatching them up and floating out with them on his belly like a mother sea otter (that way he's technically not holding them so it's fine he reasons xD).

Not telling him isn't an option either. Cause if they don't inform him themselves, he'll just be upset and have a little hissy fit when they do return, just to make a point of his dislike for it. And then be more clingy when they come back.

When they do return, they can expect him to snuffle into them for a while. And also to bring them many "gifts". c:

[You ignore the pleas of CODY and your fellow players, spitefully pressing the A Button.]

[Suddenly, the screen begins to shake, and a very loud, distorted CHARIZARD cry rumbles from the GAME BOY's speakers, with intensity strong enough to make it vibrate in your hands.]

[After a moment, the shaking stops. The POKéMON TOWER theme does not replay afterwards. The game is eerily quiet.]
