Palais Bulles ("Bubble Palace") is a large house in Théoule-sur-Mer, near Cannes, France, that was designed by the Hungarian architect Antti Lovag, and built between 1975 and 1989. It was built for a French industrialist, and was later bought by the fashion designer Pierre Cardin as a holiday home.

The day trip down the coastline to Théoule-sur-Mer is for the twins to enjoy the sandy beaches of Plage de l'Aiguille. Nice’s coastline presents magnificent views of Cote d'Azur but it’s full of pebbles. A lot of fun for rock collecting, less so for building castles. With the crystal clear turquoise waters at their front and their beach blankets set out beneath them, the next step before play is to apply sunblock.

     The toddlers barely sit still in their parent’s laps while being slathered in the white cream. Too giddy with their pastel shovels in their hands, ready to fill their buckets full of sand, and too antsy over the sticky sensation of the product being wiped all over their soft skin. It takes a long moment for nose-scrunching Monte to expel the yucky expression off his face. 

     “All done.” Brianne chimes, wiping the residue left on her palm along the outside of her bare arm. 

     In an unspoken gesture between them, Santiago begins to apply sunblock to her open back. The boys linger. The good helpers in them (and the desire to play with the sticky goo coming from the tube) means they can’t resist.

     “Miguel help.” With palms outstretched, the young boy looks up at papa for a squirt from the tube.

     “Monte too! Monte too!” His twin brother mirrors his motions excitely before each are given a small glob of the white cream. 

     “Oh, thank you very much for the help.” Brianne praises as sticky palms smack her back, patting and sliding in their haphazard application. Santiago gently guides them away from her swimsuit straps the best he can. It takes only a minute for the small surface of bare skin to be swamped.

     "Papa turn!” They both eagerly agree and tiny hands are held out to receive a second squirt of the sun cream before jumping behind Santiago where he sits on the beach towel. The giggles heighten as they start to paint his broad back, their motions akin to doing finger painting in the backyard. Brianne likewise guides them and swipes the pools of missed cream up onto Santiago's muscled shoulders.

     “More please,” Monte says, and indeed he needs it. 

     “Papa back big,” Miguel follows them assuredly, holding out his empty hands to mum right on top of Monte's.

     “Okay, just a little," she moves their hands apart to access their palms. "Try to spread it around. Evenly.” A gentle coaxing only to share a knowing glance with her husband after. With amusement caught in her eye, a smile on her lips, she whispers, “Our little helpers.”

Découverte du local mis en place à la pointe de l'aiguille à Théoule-sur-Mer par l'association, en partenariat avec le Département 06. Animation des stands aux travers d'outils de médiation dont dispose déjà l'association.

L'après midi, observation de la posidonie in situ afin de me renseigner pour la réalisation de la maquette. Découverte également de la randonné palmée sur laquelle je pourrais potentiellement travailler afin de la revaloriser et d'imaginer une forme de restitution possible.
