I need people’s help! I made a randomized of all the fandoms I have ever been in that I could think of, even the unfortunate ones (genshin) but am looking for more to add. It bothers me that some people (TG stans and "neutral" stans with Alicent on their avatar) still try to claim that "Vaemond is Ned Stark HotD".

NO.

Ned Stark sacrificed his life so that Robert's rightful heir could take the throne. He didn't want it for himself.

(If Robiert had known that Joffrey was not his son, he would have had Cersei and her children thrown off the end of Storms End, and not made him his heir. THAT is the difference between him and Laenor and Corlys.)

Vaemond lost his life because he wanted the throne for himself. His brother was STILL ALIVE and he went to steal his power. For himself. If he wanted the "rightful" Velaryon to rule Driftmark, he would strive to pass the inheritance to Corlys' granddaughters. But he wanted power.

Do you know who sacrificed his life so that the rightful heir and not a usurper could sit on the throne? Who really is "Ned Stark HotD"? These guys! Those who actually lost their lives or risked them so that the rightful heir would not be betrayed!

Honestly, I was just too lazy to change the banner, and for good reason, because I suffered more with it than with the avatar itself (I spent on the banner for abt 2 mins more than on the full artwork--)

chapter 2 of TG is coming as soon as possible, i rewatched both avatar movies last night a bawled my eyes out, i felt like i had to take a little break to find motivation to write but also to characterize the characters properly, even the ones i despised watching, like Quaritch. There’s also a big research aspect to it because i use Na’vi words, phrases and cultural concepts that aren’t discussed/used in the movies. It’s a lot left to the imagination all while you still have to stay truthful to whatever information you have in canon.

i’m proud to say that i have a better understanding of all the characters now, watching the movies back to back makes you notice the little things, Jake’s perspective on things, how he views himself, his thoughts on humans and relationships with the other characters.

As a person of color watching A1 really helped me grasp how Neytiri feels. The betrayal of her lover. The murder of her sister. The loss of her father but also the loss of a leader along with the destruction of everything she loved. As well as how all of those things accumulated into Quaritch’s character and her distaste for Spider. Her switch from a soft hearted and fierce warrior to a mother who’s lost too much and not enough room room in her heart to forgive or let anyone in (yet).

The kids were very tricky, we haven’t gotten enough of the Sully’s interacting amongst themselves outside of immediate danger so completely grasping their dynamic was hard, but possible. Being a teenager myself it was easier to tap into it. The loss of Neteyam broke me so baddddd. Y’all are gonna be so mad at me when i write his funeral good lord.

S2 thoughts (this is part of a larger rant that I'll publish once I finish editing it because I had a lot to say)

Honestly, the treatment of the Greens in season 2 is straight up like one of those vindictive torture porn fics, where the most charitable read I can have is that the character(s) reminded the author of someone irl who hurt them, and they're trying to regain control of their hurt feelings by doing the most awful, humiliating things to that person's fictional avatar insert any Green character or all of them here. And all I can say is I hope writing that gave you some catharsis, may your heart heal from what ever happened to you, but those are not stories I ever want to read - let alone see the canon show adapt and celebrate, because that's awful. The way s2 treats TG characters is just beyond awful.

Kaneki has always definitely been a water bender to me. The water nation is considered the nation of adaptability - whether they like it or not. When he became a ghoul, Kaneki was forced to adapt several times. Picking up the fragments of the life he left everytime something goes uncontrollably wrong.

There's also something to be said about blood bending and how despite eventually using it herself, Katara despised Hama and calls her a monster for making her use blood bending. This if course feels very similar to that iconic "I'm not like you monsters" panel in the first volume in comparison to the things he did later on into the series.

I feel like he would start out as a scholar, eventually inducted into avatar Eto's squad because of his intricate control over water only to end up spiralling into the state we often see him in in the canon manga.

The buffalo joke obviously qualifies but not much comes of it... I suppose it might be a hint to assign "braves" the connotation of "Native American warrior"? A quick perusal of other incidents of "brave" is mostly unrewarding, but the way Jake and Tavros sort of fetishize "bravery" raises an eyebrow in the context of their adoration of Avatar (a Pocahontas story) and Rufio (Hook's replacement for Tiger Lily) -- identification with "braves" to act as substitute for their own lack of "bravery" I guess
