TG:re chapter 150 be like
Kimi: I’m going to tell you irrelevant stuff about kagune we already know about, I’m a ghoul expert I swear
Juuzou: I nearly wiped out all these ghouls yesterday but I’ll just listen to other people telling me what to do, as always
Touka: It’s a good thing Hinami and Yomo didn’t die or I might not have been able to forgive the CCG, how convenient
Amon: I don’t actually give a fuck about ghouls but I’m going to pretend that I do
Ayato: I heard Suzuya over there was close to holding Hinami’s decapitated head, I’ll just forget that ever happened
Ui: Oh look there’s Tsukiyama over there who I have unfinished business with, never mind that I just want Hairu back
Shuu: Stop telling me about Karren Chie, I’m too busy worshipping Kaneki
Hinami: Oh it’s Mado and Suzuya, this is fine *Internally screaming*
Miza: These fuckers killed Naki, oh well let’s go digging, reminds me of the old times with the Blades
Mougan: If I had Higher Mind I would’ve disintegrated all these ghouls, but the plot demands otherwise
Marude: I’m not working with ghouls *2 seconds later* Let’s work with ghouls
Hide: Why will this operation work? Because I’m Hideyoshi fucking Nagachika and I waited 150 chapters to become relevant again

Do you think Mutsuki will die by the end of this arc?If so,can you provide convincing argument to the people insisting that Kaneki is as bad as Mutsuki?Have a lovely day R-kun.
How do you think this current Mutsuki subplot will go?Would Mutsuki finally die?How would the qs react?Have a great day!
Hello r-kun,what do you think about the current mutsuki vs kaneki dabate?Personally since you are the only person who calls mutsuki by female pronouns,I think you are the only person on tumblr whose assessment of mutsuki is accurate.
Where once I was cynical, I now have full faith in Urie’s ability to save Mutsuki. The parallel to the original Raid arc has already been completed in Kaneki’s confrontation with Juuzou, and the arc parallels’ cyclical nature is over now too - this current arc is brand new, free from the restraints of the past, and therefore open to the kinder future. After all, doesn’t this sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Urie too was once thought to be gone past the point of no return, and love brought him back. Hsiao and Higemaru seem to have brought Aura back as well. I’ve talked before about how Mutsurie parallels Touken, and just as Touka is going to rescue Kaneki from the monster he’s become, Urie will rescue Mutsuki from the monster she’s become. Tokyo Ghoul is a series where the cruelty of the world drives everyone to sin - but despite it all, no matter how monstrous, how ghoulish they become, they can still be saved. That’s the core of :re - the end of tragedy through love.
This is Ishida’s rebuff to Kafka; when Gregor became a monster in Metamorphosis, his family ultimately abandoned him and he died a sad and lonely death in the form of a giant insect. The world of Tokyo Ghoul by contrast forces everyone to become monsters, and that shared culpability opens the doors to understanding, love and salvation. Unlike Gregor, Kaneki’s family have not abandoned him, and he will be rescued from this giant insect carcass.
Tumblr media
Likewise, Mutsuki’s family has not abandoned her, and as her kagune’s form matching Kaneki’s parallels, she too will be rescued from the monster that has swallowed her up, just like Aura was by his true family. Ishida is telling us to acknowledge the darkness within ourselves if we ever hope to be forgiven when we too are led astray.
I didn’t actually know about this debate :o But I would argue that Mutsuki’s actions are worse than Kaneki’s because, while they both did what they did for selfish reasons, Kaneki’s actions as Shironeki were at least moral in fighting against the collection of sadists and tyrants in Aogiri (and more recently against the Furuta administration), whereas Mutsuki was knowingly propping up a brutal regime and is now standing in the way of the chance of peace and risking the destruction of all Tokyo. Similarly, Kaneki never knowingly (so Haise doesn’t count) fought against any of his friends for his own sake. However, as my above speech should indicate, I do not say any of this to condemn Mutsuki; they were both driven to these mental states by a brutal world, both should be understood, and both should be saved. And will. Mutsuki’s more severe actions serve to demonstrate how that desperate desire for love can push people to any extreme, and thus the desperate need the world has for love in order to fill that hole in our hearts - as well as to emphasise again that all-embracing idea that anyone can be saved.
If the Quinx were to see Mutsuki die, Urie would be utterly heartbroken and load the failure onto his own back, just like he did with his father and Shirazu. Saiko would be shattered at the death of yet another of her loved ones. Aura would be quite pitiful of her because she wasn’t able to be saved from the fate he was. Hsiao and Higemaru would be shocked at the loss of such a skilled fighter and try their best to comfort Urie and Saiko. I think Kaneki too would do what he could for them, but I really can’t see the happy ending I believe :re will have lying that way.
Tumblr media
The chateau is Mutsuki’s Anteiku - and just like Kaneki found Anteiku again in :re, Mutsuki will find her home again in the Quinx.
Thank you kind anons! I hope you all have wonderful days too!

All their lives these ghouls have lived in the shadows, they have hidden their true identity and nature, they did so out of fear- both for themselves and their loved ones. All their lives they have known to protect their faces using these pitiful masks, they have known to fear “doves”, they have known to fear humans. They have known the only thing stopping them being hunted like animals is this thin layer, the masks. But now they have taken this step, a step that risks the entire populations of ghouls, a step that screams the odds of death, a step that is filled with bad outcomes. But these ghouls, they don’t care, these ghouls have committed this crime for a reason. For their King, for their friend, for their mentor, for their husband. They have done so because, they love Ken Kaneki.

Note
I always imagined a kind of confrontation between Amon and Ui, you know? They were always the CCG warriors who seek justice, but I never imagined that we would really see a dialogue between them in the canon. I hope to see more dialogues between them and that help them think about everything and do what is right in the future.
Ah, Ui and Amon, our very own Justice League of the CCG. I do hope they are able to converse with each other more.
The ironic thing is, while Amon’s preaching about working for peace, he… hasn’t. Worked for peace. At all. He was given the opportunity when Goat rescued him and his response was essentially nah and he noped off with Akira.
Tumblr media
So despite his words to Saiko about always considering whether or not you’re doing the right thing, Amon kind of has rarely done that in a practical sense. But that’s actually very in-character for Amon. He is motivated by principles and thinking of principles, and less so by people. Even in this speech he gives he’s talking about peace as a general concept, not of personal relationships with people/empathy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In contrast, Ui. Ui is motivated by justice, yes, but he wants to do the right thing because of how it affects people around him. Let’s look at both of their “what do I do now” speeches:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amon focuses on the concept of emptiness, on the loss of his career as an investigator, on the loss of fighting for what he thought was right, until Akira steps up for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ui focuses on the people he has lost, and in the following chapters he turns to people. He supports Furuta until Furuta starts going off the rails, and then Furuta uses Hairu as a way to get Ui to stay with the CCG.
Tumblr media
The ironic thing is that both of them still seem to be prejudiced towards ghouls, and even though Amon is working with them, he really hasn’t wrestled with whether or not he should be prejudiced (that we’ve seen). Amon is now a ghoul, but doesn’t seem able to accept it, and Amon still is running from Donato.Amon is very much unable to really be a person, if that makes sense. He doesn’t know how to be one himself, so he struggles with relating to people. He doesn’t take responsibility for his wrongdoings as an investigator: he blames the world, because he doesn’t know how to be a person in this world. That’s why he nopes out of there too: he’s afraid of being a person. Which is also really sad because Amon has the answer for everyone: think about whether or not you should be doing x. But because he can’t connect with people he can’t share it in an effective way. He does finally act when the few people he does connect with are threatened–Akira and Takizawa, and now Kaneki, and that’s to his credit. But he still prefers to nope out of conflict, and doesn’t seem to understand that peace is not something that will just happen. You have to work for peace. You have to work hard for peace especially when the world is this messed up. Ui, in contrast, I think is actually less self-deceived. I think he actually believes a lot of what he says, whereas Amon I think is trying to convince himself (especially when you consider his issues stemming back to Donato). Even now he’s still thinking about how he just wants Hairu and Arima back (what is foreshadowing):
Tumblr media
But of course, Hairu and Arima are both ghouls. Which Ui doesn’t know. Once Ui does know, however (Hirako why are you not sharing this like now would be a good time, a few months ago would have been even better), that’s when I’ll be very interested to see where he goes. Because while I’m sure he’s going to struggle due to his extreme prejudice, we’ve already seen that Ui will go against his ethics for the people he loves.
Tumblr media
Like even in 150 Ui’s lying to protect Hirako and Yusa. But we’ve also seen what happens when someone prioritizes the people they love above their principles. Ui turned into a sleep-deprived man who seemed completely lost. We can also compare him to Kaneki, who keeps trying to prioritize people over his role as a king and that turned out… poorly.
Basically, there should be a balance between right principles and acting for the people you love, and if Amon and Ui get to talk more, I’d be interested to see whether they can influence each other.
Thank you for the ask! Sorry this is kind of rambling.

hey, you're like, a biologist, right? can you try to explain to me what kimi was talkin' about, with kagune looking like origami?
Every single component in our bodies is like that origami paper Kimi was holding… everything from our DNA to the tissues making up our organs.
On average, every human chromosome is 5 cm (2 inch long). Each human cell contains 46 chromosomes and so 46 x 5 cm =  230 cm (46 x 2 inch = 92 inches). The size of an average human cell is 20 μm (0.00078 inch)….basically the DNA content in one cell is 11500000 times bigger than the cell itself. So how does a DNA that is this big fits inside a tiny cell? It coils (folds) around histones (proteins).
Tumblr media
It’s like wrapping a long ass rope around a scaffold to save space.
The DNA coiling example is an extreme case of what Kimi was trying to explain with the origami paper. Spread out, an origami paper occupies more space than its folded state does (in this example its folded into a crane)… just like DNA forms long filaments when its spread out that occupy more space than the coiled filaments.
Tumblr media
Kimi then says that the unfolded paper is 2.5 times the size of the folded paper.
Tumblr media
This makes sense because if the crane occupies only 40% of the space the unfolded paper occupies, then if you do the math, the ratio would be 2.5.Let’s assume the space of the crane is 40 (arbitrary unit) and the space of the unfolded paper is 100 (arbitrary unit), then the 100 = y x 40100/40 = y and y = 2.5.
After giving this simple example, Kimi proceeds to explain that the kagune is much more complex than the paper crane and is actually folded in more complex way… so you can even compare it to protein folding (not discussed here) or the example I gave about DNA earlier.
Tumblr media
Just like DNA does not coil around histones in only one way, but in several ways, Kaneki’s kagune form, taking in hundreds of kakuhou, is going to encompass plenty of coiled/folded forms within it.
As such, the current form of the Dragon is actually folded. If it unfolds, taken into consideration how many kakuhous it has, it can spread further.
Tumblr media
The only way to stop this is to remove the source that would allow these folded kagunes to unfold.. aka Kaneki.

My mixed feelings for TG:re chapter 150
This chapter’s got me really unsure about the story right now, so I’d like to make a list of things I like and dislike about this chapter and the general direction the story is heading as of now
Likes:
Seeing the CCG and ghouls finally cooperating
Realizing that Furuta’s plan was probably the same as Eto/Arima’s
Seeing many characters put their differences aside to work together
Seeing different characters interact with each other
The Clowns will probably stir up some trouble against the alliance
It’s now possible for ghouls and humans to coexist
Dislikes:
Juuzou is such a disappointment of a character to me
It looks like the whole revival thing was just Furuta trolling, again
This alliance will brush many important conflicts under the rug
I’m getting “Happily ever after” vibes and I don’t like it
I’m afraid that some questions will never be answered
There is less tension in the series now that the conflict has stopped
The build up towards this point in the story was lackluster to me
I have no idea what’s going to happen now, I’m just hoping that the conflicts haven’t ended here and that more serious shit has yet to go down, because it’s very much necessary if you ask me.
If the Clowns become involved to stir things up this will at least keep the series from becoming boring to me, not to mention there are many other things that need resolving like Seidou and Kurona being on their own. So basically, I don’t know what to think regarding where the story is heading right now.
I just pray that we don’t get a “Happily ever after” ending because that’s just lame and boring in my opinion.
