Listen... OK. I've been obsessing over "The Fernweh Saga" by @lacunafiction and like all the ROs are great, but I am utterly enamoured by the mysterious, not a red flag at all, waitress Mal. So I did a quick pic cause the adhd hyperfocus set in.

○ Mysteriously appears and disappears.

○ She knows way more than she probably should, including about the MC. Like really creepily knows stuff about the MC. (Also, that time she said she wouldn't let my MC go, please don't.... Permission to hold on tight).

○ Deceptively strong, like I am 100% sure she could snap a person like a twig.

○ Rides a motorbike.

○ Makes the best hot chocolate.

○ Can unnerve a person with a smile, yet smiles so softly at my MC Morgan.

○ Occasionally her eyes seem crimson, but I am sure that's just the light.

Aka she's perfect and she has done nothing wrong her entire life, I know this and I love her.

I'm actually dying about how this would be effective, especially for Lambkin and Sweetheart MCs. Just say their nickname oh-so-sweetly like it's the only one you've ever known. You'll have Mal's full attention in an instant, not that it ever really left you considering how they are.

Here's a teaser from TFS: Book Two. It also relates to the 'let go' line referenced in our recent wonderful Mal art:

"Don't let me keep you from it," he continues speaking in a light tone while deftly pulling on his helmet. "I wouldn't let go."

As an aside, I'm still mostly on a social media hiatus because I'm focusing on my writing along with family health woes. I don't want anyone to worry about the series, please don't! 🌲 This is me working full force—full tilt—on the second book to then come back when it's time for the public demo drop and announcements. 👀 It's a different approach, but it's best for my stress and for you in terms of waiting.

If Alina wasn't the Sun Summoner she would NEVER meet the Darkling in order for him to not spare her that glance you say, she would NEVER meet Nikolai, she would NEVER meet Genya, Baghra, Botkin, Zoya, David, Marie or Nadia. She would NEVER even see the Little Palace. She would remain forever as a mapmaker and Mal would continue to fuck around girls with his buddies. Because if she wasn't the Sun Summoner, Mal wouldn't latch on to her trying to make her dependent on him again.

Hell! She wouldn't even meet Mal. As far as I know they met because she was the Sun Summoner and he was Morozova's third amplifier that felt attracted to her presence and existence.

Oh! And if she didn't have any powers there wouldn't be any Grishaverse!

LISTEN LISTEN, I know we’re all sad and disappointed at Mal’s reunion. BUT we need to talk about how this man did whatever he could to keep the memory of MC close to him when they were gone.

Lord Wesley of RIVERBEND????? Mal claiming to be from MC’s hometown?? People died, I am people.

Him telling stories about MC to his kids????????

Building the orphanage when MC disappeared because he needed a purpose?? And the one he picks is the one he wanted to achieve, WITH MC. (for my fellow Mal-romancers out there)

I know we were all expected a big, dramatic reunion, but I honestly think this one was pretty good too. I think the emotions we were hoping for was THERE, it was just subtler.

the king of scars duology was leigh bardugo’s answer to every darklina shipper/darkling fan justifying the darkling’s crimes. in kos+row they explicitly call out every single one of the darkling’s crimes, which is why i’ll always be a malina shipper (in canon ships at least, genyalina supremacy) because the other option is simply terrible. so please learn to separate an artist from his art, which in this case the artist is ben barnes, and the art is his portrayal of the darkling.

Before you can even take out the ring box, get down on one knee, or shift closer to Mal for a romantic handhold, they're smiling a little more widely at you. There is more tenderness beneath that ineffable knowing quality that you've grown to accept. It's enough to make you pause, blinking for a second when they take out their own ring box—no, wait, that's yours. Your hand flies to your pocket, patting its newfound emptiness while you balk at your mysteriously hot beloved.

"I know we'll be together forever," Mal confidently concludes. "But you're welcome to put a ring on it if I can leave my own claim on you."

You're still a little stunned by this turn of events; however, Mal's hand finds yours to create an unyielding yet certain hold. They won't let go.
