One thing I love about this fandom is the sheer variety of ways we depict tfp Orion.
Sometimes he's just tfp Optimus but small. Sometimes he's a wholesome dork. Sometimes he's a rather fiery little guy. Sometimes he's more snarky like tfa Optimus. Sometimes he's got that feral edge to him. Sometimes he's a hopeless idealist that we can't help but love and cheer on.
still reading through your aus and i am in pain wtf--- that depticon spy au??? THE REVEAL IS SO. OW. BECAUSE SMOKESCREEN WOULDNT EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF--- like I. HEAD IN HANDS.
NYEHEHEHEHEH >:33333
that's part of the fun tbh <3
and of course the Autobots are angry. Livid if we're being honest. They feel stupid for not seeing it earlier, after all Smokescreen arrived in a Decepticon pod, he'd supposedly managed to escape a prision ship himself and survive the fall of Iacon, he'd been captured again by the Cons and escaped functionally unharmed, he was always weirdly anxious and flighty around them, and they really just feel like they're been played for fools at what seems to be obvious tells in hindsight
admittedly the humans are a bit more hesitant to believe this sudden change, especially whichever human was the one who was traded for Smokescreen. After all, Smokescreen honestly bonded more with the humans than with his "fellow" Autobots. With the Autobots there was always this lingering anxiety and fear that they would uncover his secret, a feeling he hadn't felt since his early days of undercover work
but with the humans...... there wasn't as much fear. The kids were..... well, kids. They didn't know what signs to look out for in spies, they didn't know what he should and shouldn't know about Cybertron, they trusted him completely, so this apparent betreyal....... it hurts them a lot but they're also somewhat hesiatnt to believe it
but yeah, they don't exactly have too much time to deal with all these emotions regarding Smokescreen's betreyal before all of them get a single message from the guy
Run
then they end up finding out that the Decepticon's new base is Literally Right Outside Their Door and they evacuate
(also, since all five humans were kidnapped, this also means that Fowler and June get to join the Autobots on then run :) June is either going to go with Raf (since he's the youngest) or with Ratchet, but I'm admittedly not super sure about Fowler, either Ratchet or he manages to stay behind with Optimus somehow)
now....... this of course raises the question of what happens to Optimus. After all, Smokescreen isn't there to save him, right?
Wellllllllll
what if he was :)
what if after his "return" to the Decepticons, Megatron sorta...... lets him float around. Sure he's angry about his defection, but right now he's more than aware of how much more pain giving Smokescreen some amount of freedom would give him than simply locking him up. If he's in a cell, he's being trapped, but if he's "free"....... well, then that makes it all the more easier for the guilt to eat him alive :)))
(besides there..... really isn't a whole lot a spy with a blown cover can do right now)
unfortunatly, while the guilt part of the plan does work out, it also accidentally results in Optimus's survival and Smokey stealing the Phase Shifter and Forge and giving it to the Autobots
now...... Optimus admittedly doesn't have the best memory of what happened after the base came down ontop of him. The details aren't super great on account of the whole dying thing
However, there are a handful of things he is sure of with the utmost certainty
The Matrix of Leadership wanted to pick Smokescreen had he died
Smokescreen had a chance to take the Matrix of Leadership
Smokescreen didn't
Smokescreen stole the Forge and Phase Shifter from the Decepticons
Smokescreen saved his life
and suddenly Optimus is realizing the whole puzzle surround their newest recruit has become that much more complicated
Out of the rain
In the wood this black tree
I've been looking for.
Out of the rain
And the minor sun, minor seen
We don't fear them
Request for @sunstar-of-the-north , who requested Optimus on vacation, because he deserves some peace.
It might be unconventional... perhaps the first thing coming to mind when hearing the word "vacation" is beach or something amusing, but I wanted this to clearly convey "Optimus Prime ". I don't think he seeks amusement. Rest and peace is what he needs.
I believe that he finds the landscapes of Earth beautiful, and he certainly would find peace in a sequoia wood, where he can go unnoticed. Also, he's clearly a cultivated bot, always interested in learning about the culture and nature of the world he is in, therefore, I gave him a datapad with poetry for him to read, and a earthly companion:
A peacefully sleeping deer, because nothing horrible happened accidentally in this forest.
I painted this while listening Wonders by the Beauty of Gemina on endless repeat, and thus, now I have a developing Optimus Prime playlist.
Videolapse with song:
Wonders.
Michael Seele (The Beauty of Gemina)
I’m counting all these wonders
Never mind - I catch their name
I’m counting all this thunder
Out of the rain
What is there to know?
All this time I see
And I’m going
Time to think by feeling
Time for breathing
And all with one flow.
Out of the rain
In the wood this black tree
I’ve been looking for
Out of the rain
And the minor sun, minor sin
And we know them.
And we’ll ever know
I’m counting all these wonders
Never mind! – I touch your face
I’m counting all this thunder
Out of the rain
Out of the rain
In the wood this black tree
I’ve been looking for
Out of the rain
And the minor sun, minor sin
Out of the rain
In the wood this black tree
I’ve been looking for
Out of the rain
And the minor sun, minor sin
We don’t fear them.
And we’ll never do.
I never noticed this before but man, even right in the beginning of the Pilot episode of RiD, the faithfulness to Optimus that Bumblebee has shows itself so well.
No sooner does 'Bee register that his vision of Optimus Prime is telling him to go to Earth than he revs up and rolls out, just like that.
Strongarm has apprehended Sideswipe, and dealing with him ought to be 'Bee's top priority; but no, Optimus' command pulls rank, even though Bumblebee is the only one to hear the silent, wordless order.
Naturally, Strongarm calls out about sticking to protocol; but Bumblebee knows this directive from Optimus is urgent, so he doesn't even stop running. He simply calls back over his shoulder that he's gonna meet her at the station, and keeps right on booking it towards where Optimus told him to go.
And the scene could have ended right there, showcasing Bumblebee's dedication, and cutting to him entering the building where he finds the Space Bridge. But no, the scene takes it farther than merely that; it shows us that 'Bee runs across the street.
Doesn't even transform. Doesn't stop to think. Just runs right out into the open road, in the middle of busy traffic, dancing around collision after collision...and then almost gets hit by a truck.
And Bumblebee, a war veteran, and proven police officer, has this "deer in the headlights" moment where this big semi is coming right at him, high beams on—and he stares at it for a breathless, drawn out moment.
Bumblebee does not freeze in combat. This is not a moment of fear. If you watched TFP, if you know Bumblebee, you understand.
instead, here, you can practically follow his train of thoughts even as they roll through his mind. This truck...honking at me...headlights so bright...is this another vision of Optimus, perhaps? No. Looks like it's not. Guess I'll keep moving.
This storyboarding of this show is so good.
Bumblebee doesn't think twice about anything; he just knows that Optimus needs him—so he goes for it with everything he's got. Whether that's leaping at Skyquake despite being told to stay hidden, soaring over the Omega Lock with Star Saber in hand, or bolting across multiple lanes of oncoming traffic to get to the the building that Optimus pointed him to...Bumblebee will do it. No second thoughts.
I really admire his character for that faithfulness to Optimus Prime...and it pleases me to no end that it displays itself so clearly even in Bumblebee's very first moments in this series.
Buford from Phineas and Ferb always reminded me of someone, and I could never put my finger on who it was. Like, it was driving me crazy.
But I realized: It's TFP MEGATRON. They have THE SAME ENERGY. Like, he's a bully, but also he's weirdly formal and businesslike about it, and low key just wants to vibe.
I was going to say Baljeet would be Starscream, but, no, I realized: Baljeet is OPTIMUS.
It's secretly super interesting and fucked up how Optimus in the tfp au is functionally immortal
Ratchet clearly knows about this, but do the Decepticons know. Does Megatron know Optimus alwats comes back? We know there's a bunch of reasons why Megatron doesn't try to like actually kill Oppy, but in addition could this be one of them?
I can see him early in the war not expecting a shot/blow to kill Optimus, then panic like pits thinking "oh frag oh frag oh frag have I actually offlined him? Dear Primus no I didn't want this please wake up no no no—" then Optimus just onlines and gets right back up again. Now it'd be kinda funny if Megan's first feeling upon seeing that is relief, then logic kicks in and he's hit with this wave of shock. Like Holy Fuck his nemesis ex just came back to life and that's not supposed to happen.
I'm betting Megatron would call for a retreat, and the entire trip back and medical check over he's in this state of denial. He's probably making excuses like perhaps Optimus wasn't that badly injured and he missed something, maybe the entire thing is a recharge flux, ohhh Megatron would seek out information and confirm that yes Oppy is currently alive. That's gotta be a fucked up scenario.
