Howdy everyone!! I got super inspired by @a-scary-lack-of-common-sense class swap au and wanted to try my hand at it!

I really love these designs!! If people like them too I’ll make some full refs and make some more content with them. I probably will anyway because I have so many ideas.
Under the keep reading I added wayyy too much description if you’re interested. You are interested you will read I’m using my evil mind magic to make you want to read
(I’ll address them by their names to make it less confusing btw. Pyro and Spy are called Demonan and Soldier though. I’ll name them one day probably)
For Medic and Heavy I kinda swapped their backstories and personalities. Misha is an only child who comes from a family of, fucked up to say the least, doctors. He lost his medical license for stealing the entirety of a patient’s skin. Misha is much more of a hardass with a superiority complex. Cold and callous. He takes himself and his work very seriously,, thinks he is very scary. The other mercs don’t really give a shit, which infuriates him to no end. He cares about his teammates! somewhere deep down inside ,, like really far down. Probably. Really attached to his tools, names them like how the original Heavy names his guns. He’s pretty fluent with English.
Ludwig is much more silly and caring. He’s the youngest sibling out of his 3 sisters, and took this job because he feels obligated to pay back his family for protecting him and helping him go through college. He’s not sadistic per se, more just, really loves the blood, guts, and carnage of war, and has a very morbid curiosity. He often accompanies the Medic when he's doing operations, if he's not already the patient himself. Misha adores how fascinated he is by all of it, and gladly answers and questions he may have. Very loud and extroverted,, his laughs can be heard from miles away. He kinda scares the other mercs, but he’s trying his best to tone it down. He has a horde of pigeons that just ,, follow him around. He doesn’t really know where they came from. His favorite is named Euripides. He’s intermediate at English.
For Sniper and Scout I kinda kept their backstories the same, they just had different personalities and life circumstances that led to them taking their respective jobs. Jeremy is the older brother of 7 little sisters. His mother had him when she was 16 and going through college, leading Jeremy to have to grow up fast. He and his mom have always had to pick up odd jobs to help pay the bills. One of Jeremy’s bosses took him out onto a shooting range one day and noticed he was a natural. He encouraged him to take up predator/invasive species control to help pay the bills and helped him get started, Jeremy eventually saved up enough to move to the northwest. As he got more skilled, some shady people took note and offered him some more,,, lucrative opportunities. He’s a hick with a slight Boston accent, making him all the more awkward. Pretty introverted, the only friends he's ever had is his little siblings. He’s quick-witted when he wants to be, but usually stays quiet. He seems pretty cold tough, but will change really quickly around little kids. Drinks way too many energy drinks to compensate for his insomnia.
Mick is an only child and basically the Australian version of Scout. Which is a terrifying concept!! he scares me. He’s a pretty extroverted guy, but was still bullied for his scrawny appearance and a lack of mustache hairs when he was little, so he devoted himself to becoming the best track runner in Australia. Also he couldn’t win a fight against anyone and he tended to piss off a lot of people, so running was a necessity. He doesn’t have any siblings, but he has a lot of older friends who treat him like a little brother. He likes to paint in his free time. Took the job to help support his parents and to explore the world, or just New Mexico. Annoying jock bastard. He wears those tank tops with the holes at the sides that just go all the way down,, not even a shirt at that point. Still throws piss at people because I think its really fucking funny.
Nobody quite knows where Soldier came from, not even herself. All she knows is that she’s a General, and a damn good one at that. Although his team would like to suggest otherwise. She’s loud and erratic, missing quite a few cogs in her brain. Not lead poisoned like the original soldier, I’m leaning towards a lobotomy that really melted his brain, soupe de cerveau or somethinf. Even though she lost her mind, she kept her great commanding skills and leads the team in attacks. He can be found planning and strategizing for the next round, or hanging out with the other team’s Demo. A bit silly, a bit goofy. Comically patriotic like the original Soldier. Parleys-tu Français, DO YOU SPEAK FRRRENCH ??? Non tu ne le fais pas, you don’t? FUCK YOU
Tavish and pyros personalities are a kinda combined? I just took little bits from both of them and squashed them together. Tavish is a pyromaniac hailing from Scotland. There’s rumors that he was the cause of the fire storm that rained down on Scotland for about a week, but he’s never confirmed or denied this. His voice isn’t all that muffled, his Scottish dialect is just so thick that nobody can understand him, except for Ms Pauling and Engineer like usual. Tavish can be pretty unstable and hyperactive, but an overall happy-go-lucky guy. Drinks responsibly most of the time! Still depressed! Lots of Molotov cocktails. His favorite animal is the Pegasus, and his life's goal is to find and tame one some day.
Dell is the same personality wise, just more like spy. So a bit more stuck up lol. He also shares the same care that the original spy shows for his team, as long as it benefits him along the way. Dell comes from a long family line of Spy’s that all worked for the Mann brothers, they stole Australium for them and kept them safe from other entity's that wanted to have control over the Australium too. His goggles have all that super cool spy stuff in them, night vision, cameras, a radio. Jane helped him add some new features as of late, . I'm not sure how to incorporate Dell's fascination with trans-humanism into this Dell quite yet. Maybe something to do with his senses? Name’s Spy. Spy Gaming.
Jane is pretty much the same silly little guy,, but now with 11 phds! And he’s not lead poisoned anymore! Nobody’s quite sure where Jane comes from, every time he’s asked he always changes up his backstory. He tends to slack off more than the original soldier, "A good hard-working American always knows when to take breaks!" He's also built a variety of raccoon-themed machines that get into mischief around the base. He and the Pyro are good buddies! He likes reading their stories, and gently encouraging them to write more. He's pretty strict when it comes to safety, and will come down hard on his teammates for messing around. THAT IS NOT OSHA APPROVED HEAD-WEAR MAGGOT!
Demoman is more like Tavish backstory-wise in this. They’re a midwesterner with way too much free time who blew up their family’s corn field by accident when they were little, oh and their parents. Their bio family crawled out from the remains of the farm and took them in after they proved themselves, even with their lack of tentacles and wings. (yeah their parents are the Great Old Ones, cthulhu guys, for sillies :3 ) They still like to do creative stuff (but adult-ified because adults are insecure about having fun for some reason.) like adult coloring books, or oil painting, or having adult tea parties. Demoland is a book that they're writing, and will TOTALLY 100% work on this weekend. They hate eye contact and have never been seen without their bombsuit on, except for Scout, but he can comprehend these otherworldy horrors perfectly fine so idk maybe you have a skill issue or something.

notes: I was thinking of making Dell Jeremy's father, but I didn't want to change up Jeremy's facial features too much, so Spy remains. Mick has that neck-mic thingy that soap from COD has because I was scrolling through soapghost on pintrest help. Soldier wasn't actually a general, I was thinking he was just somebody who knew too much. But after she got the lobotomy, I'm thinking she did something similar to soldier and tried to get into the military, and failed. Ludwig is the biggest on the team, with Misha having a more agile body type. Still a bear!! Just a bit smaller. This art is a bit old because I've been working on this since MAY?!?!??? ough. Maybe I'll swap some side characters as well! Pauling with Bidwell, Saxton with Helen, if ya want you could give me some suggestions 👁 👁 This is all Merasmus's fault some how, babygirl messes up the timeline for the sillies, the funny haha even. I love her <3333 Also sorry if the info for Jeremy is incorrect, I just thought it would be neat idk a whole lot about hunting.

Gray Mann's daughter Olivia took over his position as chief executive officer of Gray Gravel Company, and conducted the army of robots to take over Mann Co.
Miss Pauling is the Administrator instead of Helen. She was the one who recruited the mercenaries for the fight against Olivia Mann's army
Mortician's father-son relationship with Kickboxer is a positive one.
Timebomb makes all of his explosives himself and rigs them to have timed detonations or manual ones
Alistair is the only one who knows his real name. Whenever someone asks for his name he provides a different one every time
Alessio is from a former mafia but escaped and took refuge with Miss Pauling
The stitches on Warhorse's face were done by Mortician after an incident on the field that almost left him dead
Welder helped install the sniper eye into Headbuster's eyesocket. It acts as a scope so he doesn't need to use the ones on sniper rifles
Wildfire was a former firefighter who combatted wild forest fires with new fires (a method called backburning)
Will do more doodles of this AU and they'll be on my AF as well! 🍰💖

Ah yes, Sniper likes a partner who can just kill him. (literally). Sorry it isn't that long, that was mostly just me spilling thoughts on the idea like most of my concept. There isn't much plot-wise. Don't worry, you don't get jarate thrown at you (THANKFULLY).

Everyone knows an infamous pair in TF2 is Sniper and Spy when it comes to playing the game.
Snipers often fall victim to spies in the game due to getting tunnel vision from their scope.
So the dynamic between Sniper and a darling actively trying to kill him is funny to think about.
Especially if it only seems to make him fall even more in love with his obsession.
You, as a spy, have one job.
Take out the enemy group and aid your own team with the objective.
You're normally very skilled at taking out your targets.
Then you met the RED team's Sniper.
He's usually calm, quiet, collected, focused...
But you also catch him off guard.
The dynamic between you two is very... strange to put it simply.
At first you start as enemies.
Sniper knows damn well you seek him out and he knows the reason.
You want to kill him, and at first the feelings are mutual.
This is about the only time any feelings between you two are mutual.
Although, in true spy fashion, you end up flirting with your target...
Something that no doubt seals your fate.
Your attempts to kill one another make you see each other often.
Soon it becomes routine.
Sniper already knows to keep an eye out for your decloaking, he already expects you.
Even to the point of greeting you before you two fight.
Out of all the classes on both of your teams, you two have the strangest dynamic.
Especially when Sniper starts viewing it in a different light.
It takes you beyond off guard when Sniper attempts something new during your little "meetings".
Flirting... He tries flirting with an arrogant little grin just to see you falter.
The feeling is not mutual.
You're here to kill him.
Meanwhile he's here falling for his potential murderer (or if respawns exist, someone who he killed him countless times).
He finds it amusing how you look at him when he flirts with you.
You find it downright odd and perhaps even uncomfortable when your target tries to seduce you.
Granted... you're a master of seduction... but when you flirt back you do it just to make him drop his guard.
Sniper no doubt either thinks you reciprocate his feelings or knows you don't and messes with you anyways.
Even if you try to kill him, he still manages to find it... pleasing?
The pain means nothing to him as long as you do it.
Sniper would no doubt swap your roles as his obsession grows.
You may think you're playing hunter, you aren't.
No, as time goes on you become the hunted, not Sniper.
Sniper knows well how to deal with spies.
To the point he may even start wearing the Razorback to dissuade you just enough to speak to you.
Normally he'd like to watch you through his scope... but you're just about always cloaked.
That doesn't stop him from trying, however...
You only decloak around other teammates, only then can he watch you.
Sniper even gets better at seeing through your disguises.
Aww, trying to pretend you're someone you're not to kill him?
That disguise and attempt is quickly gast aside when he pins you.
You become less and less of a threat the more Sniper learns to read you.
Soon he's reading you before you have time to react, pinning you to a wall with his kukri at your neck.
You see, Sniper's always been a hunter.
You may think you're so skilled at the work of assassination, well, he is too.
He knows about you enough to read you, to show you he's the hunter here.
You, as a spy, are no longer a threat.
Sniper can't help but grin when he sees you against the wall, unsure what exactly to do now that he's caught you.
He's a sadistic man, especially when it comes to you...
You've teased him enough with your encounters, always flirting just to shove a knife into his back.
Jokes on you, he's prepared now.
Now you're the one in danger, you're the one at his mercy.
"Oh, love... I think it's about time we had ourselves a genuine little chat. You have no clue how much I crave you when I see you...."
It's all an odd turn of events.
Your target is completely infatuated with you, not afraid in the slightest.
No, instead he holds a sadistic glint in his eyes as he eyes you up and down.
He's never wanted someone more in his damn life.
"I've always found our little games cute... you're a cute little thing, really. You try so hard to kill me, even playing with my feelings. You really know how to play a man, don't you?"
Your little flirtatious game of murder was no doubt going to have some consequences.
By the peak of his obsession, Sniper is deeply in love.
He doesn't mind if you want to play your little sadistic games, as long as it's with him.
Yes, an odd thing about Sniper is the fact he probably gets jealous when your target is anyone else.
He's so obsessed with your flirtation that he finds himself jealous of you trying to attack others.
He's sick in the head, that much is obvious.
Sniper likes having you under his control.
It pleases him to see you powerless before him, completely at his mercy.
All so he can kiss you, murmuring about how much he's fallen for you.
While Snipers are typically the ones who fall victim to Spies...
It appears the tables have turned for you.
"Surely you feel the same, yeah? I can tell you do... you enjoy this game just as much as me, love. No need to hide it."

I've been ranking all my Doom projects by how hard they'll be to make.
I have A Thing about talking about planned projects (mostly because some stuff might be hard to deliver on) but I guess I'll summarise each concept below. Warning that I use the term "Metroidvania" like four times, so if you're someone who doesn't like that for some reason, be warned. And a lot of them are "inspired by" other things.
WJB's Custom Difficulties - a bunch of silly gimmick difficulties.
Mixtape - mapset where every level has a hidden cassette tape that, if found by the player, allows them to access a "B-side" version with a different aesthetic, a reversed layout (starting at the exit and ending at the entrance), and has a slightly altered layout.
Shuffled! - mapset where every map is based on a random song from my Spotify likes.
Endings and Possibilities - mapset inspired by the "Star Trip" mode from the 2005 Nintendo DS puzzle-game Meteos; every map has an easy and hard route, and depending on which one the player takes in each, there is a different ending.
Reversenal - every hitscan weapon is projectile-based, and the fist and chainsaw swap attack-styles.
Demonic Arsenal - replaces the entire Doom arsenal with custom, biomechanical-looking weapons based on demon attacks (e.g the rocket launcher fires Revenant missiles, the Plasma Rifle shoots a three-round burst of Arachnotron plasma, the BFG is based on the Archvile's flame attack).
Hell Frozen Over - monster and texture replacer that makes the demons and hell-textures ice-themed, with the former even having unique attacks; the Wolfenstein stuff is also changed to be Halloween themed, with the enemies all having pumpkins for heads (referencing the Game Dungeon episode on Wolfenstein 2009) and the wall textures being spookier.
Doom Throwback - a monster-replacer that essentially demakes every monster from the modern-era Doom games in the style of the '90s ones, complete with new designs that look closer to the original games' sprites.
MOOO: Absurd Warfare - extremely silly weapon-mod about a cartoony semi-anthropomorphic cow that uses things like throwing-CDs, walking missiles, and a tooth-firing sawfish as weapons.
TF2-Inspired Class Mod - class-mod inspired by the Team Fortress games, primarily TF2, with each class having a loadout of four weapons (primary, secondary, melee and super) that start with different amounts of ammunition, plus a bonus inventory item that has unlimited uses but needs to recharge after use; features 9 "main" classes that are heavily based on the Mercs (Scout, Security, Pyro, Demolitionist, Heavy, Engineer, Scientist, Tracker and Agent), as well as 9 "bonus" classes that are either original (Demonologist, Brawler, Gambler, Pilot), references to the Doom franchise (Combat Frame, Sentinel, Marine), or based on/inspired by other media (Ranger, Specimen).
Hard Reset-inspired mod - weapon-mod inspired by the game Hard Reset; rather than the player picking up weapons as they progress, they start with two weapons (a hitscan SMG and a projectile-based plasma gun) and can use points to unlock alternate firemodes that function as extra weapons.
Plastic Beach: the Unofficial Mapset - a 16-map mapset based on Plastic Beach by Gorillaz, with each track inspiring a map.
Spirit Phone: the Unofficial Mapset - a 26-map (13 main and 13 secret) mapset based on Spirit Phone by Lemon Demon, with each track inspiring a map (with As Your Father I Expressly Forbid It and I Earn My Life being one map that's split into two sections with an autosave and music-change script in the middle).
B-Movie Mod - total-conversion mod inspired by '50s sci-fi B-movies, complete with ROTT-style actor-photo sprites, cheesy FMV cutscenes, and props that are clearly random junk stuck together.
Doom: The Inferno - 9-map mapset with custom enemies, based on the ordering (but not actual theming) of the layers of Hell in the Inferno; each layer has a unique variant of an existing Doom monster (e.g gluttony Cacodemons that bite the player).
Dual-World Mapset - every map has a "dark world" version with different textures and alternate versions of every monster (including barrels!) with different attacks and stats; the player has to go to the dark world to find switches that do things in the normal world.
Halls of Jupiter - pastiche of "DOS Trash" like Corridor 7 or Island Peril, but like actually good.
UAC Microbot Co-Operation Testing Initiative - a brand new crossover with Pikmin and Doom Pikmin-style "command a swarm of creatures" thing with a Portal-inspired aesthetic and sense of humour; the player is a UAC-built robot that commands an army of smaller microbots to fight (comparatively) giant demons and solve puzzles.
Griefbreaker - Deltarune-inspired episodic TC about entering peoples' minds to fight antagonists based on the stages of grief.
Hellshock - "Shocklike" set in the Doom universe, specifically on a UAC space-station that's been pulled into Hell.
Six Chambers of Chaos - a repurposing of an old game idea I had; a first-person shooter where every weapon, including melee, is a six-chamber revolver with each shot having a random effect (the melee doesn't use ammunition but still does this).
The Enceladus Incident - really complex story-driven mod about an agent being sent to a UAC colony on Saturn's moon of Enceladus to steal a superweapon, but ending up stranded there when the demons invade.
UAC: Project N.E.O.N - basically Hotline Miami but it's set in the Doom universe and first-person rather than top-down.
Atomwalker - atompunk mech-game set in an alternate 1950s England; it takes some inspiration from Shogo: Mobile Armoured Division (being an FPS where you play as a mech and mostly fight other mechs) and Brigador (there are human enemies that mostly exist to be a minor annoyance, as well as passive human NPCs that the player can optionally - and most likely accidentally - kill).
Brutalist SOMA - combat-free horror/puzzle mod heavily inspired by the atmosphere of SOMA, but set in a brutalist research facility in the jungle.
Doom-Life - Doom remade with the narrative, gameplay and structural style of the first Half-Life; it also includes things like friendly NPCs, overhauls of the Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind to make them function more interestingly (the former can only be killed by explosives or certain setpieces like the Gargantua, while the latter has a proper boss-fight that includes several phases and a chase through the streets of Dis), and a few new weapons and enemies.
Federation of Fear - this.
ICHOR - Blood spiritual-successor, but it's set in the 1960s rather than the 1920s, and rather than Victorian-era gothic horror it's based on sci-fi horror (specifically alien-based examples like Alien, The Thing, and Attack The Block).
Mechaniacal - fast-paced atmospheric mod about a treasure-hunter entering a vast, ancient industrial megastructure filled with killer robots.
Bionicle: Legend of the Toa Khera - Bionicle Heroes DS spiritual successor featuring a secondary-element Toa team.
Untitled Princess Mod - first-person platformer with a Mega Man-style nonlinear progression system, mild (and optional) Metroidvania elements, and a Mario-inspired aesthetic and artstyle.
Doom From the Deep - another "shocklike", this time set in an underwater UAC biological research facility; the player has Bioshock-style body-horror superpowers that can be activated with alt-fire.
Starminer - another retool of an old game concept; a Metroidvania about space-mining, where you go to various planets with themes ranging from normal things like "magma", "ice", and "ocean", to more outlandish stuff like "food", "toys", and "digital", unlocking new mining tools and finding rare minerals and valuable treasure.
Voidlunch - wacky first-person adventure-game about an alien trying to make lunch.
Dieselpunk Bloodborne - first-person Soulsborne with a dieselpunk aesthetic and also it's like really Bloodborne-inspired, but with giant body-horror cyborgs instead of werewolves and evil AIs instead of cosmic horrors.
Surreal Strifelike/Metroidvania - Strife-style open-world RPG but it has Metroidvania elements and a surreal aesthetic somewhat inspired by the Zeno Clash series.

Meet my idea for a 10th class, The Hazmat ! Will post my rambles about him under the cut:
He runs around the match either cleaning up body parts or sentry parts, his special ability allows him to (after filling up a meter) pass his bucket to either Medic or Engineer and give them small charges of either Übercharge or metal to aid both of them as a "true support" class
His main offensive ability is literally splashing enemies with whatever chemical concoction is in that hazards bucket, good luck. (It would in my head apply some form of damage over time mechanic) (This mechanic also covers enemy models in a green texture like Jarate's yellow, and can be used to spy check)
His melee is just a bloody mop, but he can use it to remove sappers.
Default movement is 105% but this is reduced to 100% when his bucket is swapped out Some more general headcanon-y stuff:
He's very overworked from lugging around buckets full of acid to aid dissolving the random chunks of teammates lying around
Decided to make him Hungarian as TF2 already has representation of both Western and Eastern Europe (Spy and Heavy respectively) (in my head Medic is an enigma idc if Germany counts as central)
Given his job, he's very cordial with Engie and Medic, and to an extent Pyro as a fellow masked merc
Doesn't talk much outside of the needed stuff, but is more open to talk about his own interests, of decomposition and the science behind dissolving stuff in acid
Prefers tea over coffee, hard liquor over beer or wine

wrt last reblog its actually so funny to me how overwatch kind of fucked themselves by trying to have their cake and eat it too and in the process made the characters into like, tools to be wielded instead of classes that fill roles.
like to try and elaborate on this (and this is why im making this my own post instead of going off on a tangent on someone elses post), overwatch has hero switching. as of [current date] there are somewhere between 20 and 200 heroes in the game and any time you are in your spawn room you can swap to any of them within your role that your team doesn't already have.
so this means that when dps hero A is hard countered by hero B, who is countered by hero C, one team is going to play hero A until a B appears on the enemy team, at which point the A player is going to swap to C, and then the B player will die and swap to whatever counters C, etc.
the maps are compact, the respawn timers are short, mobility is high. you have time to respawn on the counterpick and get back in the fight and make a difference. so, if you want to get past a certain rank of play, you have to learn how to hero switch- onetricking a single hero stops being viable. you need to know how to play not just one dps character, but all the dps characters, or at least the ones that are relevant counters to the things that check your preferred hero.
this is in contrast to something like a MOBA, which overwatch obviously borrowed a lot of design ideas from. in a moba you're (usually) stuck on the same character for the entire match. hero B being added to the game has no effect on a match where they're not one of the 10 characters picked. in contrast in overwatch hero B existing can prevent hero A from being used at all, just because the hero A player knows that the second they try to do anything they'll just get countered. and in that way the heroes can affect the way a match is played without ever even making an appearance.
then of course we've got tf2 which made so little of an attempt at balancing for 6v6 play that without player imposed restrictions most 6v6 matches would just be like, 2 medics and 4 demomen.
i'm exaggerating a bit- maybe it wouldn't be that bad- but the design philosophy is just completely different. 6s maps tend to be pretty big. respawn timers are way longer. not every class in tf2 is relevant for 6s. a lot of them are EXTREMELY niche. you're not going to see a 6s team swapping to heavy unless they're desperate to defend a choke in a relatively close quarters environment. if you try to run a heavy for the entire match, you're just going to get flattened- he gets counterpicked out of general relevance the same way overwatch hero A does.
tf2's response to this was not to try and make spy have the same level of impact on the game as the scout and soldier, but to just design an alternate competitive mode where each team has 1 of each class, and then those classes have to find ways to try and make themselves as useful as possible instead of competing to get playtime. the spy immediately becomes more useful in highlander than he does in 6s because the enemy team is guaranteed to have an engineer and a sniper for him to fuck with. the pyro in turn is also more useful, because they have an engineer to protect, an enemy spy to check for, etc. the classes get to exist in a mode where they are interacting with every class on their own team and on the enemy team in every match.
i don't think the differences in design philosophy are inherently good or bad or anything, to be clear. i just think it's interesting.
ok, overwatch hero pool bloat is maybe a little inherently bad, and the most fun i ever had in that game was in the modes where you were locked to one team comp and had to play around that fact. but still.

if i ever get around to making a flcl themed cosmetic for tf2, i know the perfect thing to reference that both:
fits the art style / setting of tf2, and would look snazy as fuck

yeah my boy Joseph canti ( according to the wiki ) has just what i'd want to reference >:D
firstly, the jacket itself. the jacket is an ma-1 flight jacket ( specifically, the vietnam era type ma-1 flight jacket ( specifically SPECIFICALLY the japanese replica. )) tf2 takes place around the 1960's, meanwhile the jacket was produced around the 1950's, if my information is correct :p
this would fit for both the setting and art style, as i don't see the jacket itself obscuring much, nor being too small of a change. also, due to the jacket being mostly a sage-greenish colour, then it'd be easy to swap out for ( perhaps ) a mellow red colour
( actually, the jackets were initially produced in midnight blue and sage green, with blue being the original colour for the military. then it was replaced by the sage green )
secondly, the jacket is a jacket that was primarily worn by pilots during wars. this would fit with the pvp-styled gamemode that tf2 is known for. personally, i would see this being a cosmetic for scout, soldier, and demo. however i don't think it'd be out of place as an all-class cosmetic
all in all, i think this would be a good cosmetic that would fit the game, while also being a fun, subtle reference to flcl. i know the jacket itself isn't a reference to flcl, but if i were to theoretically Make this and theoretically Name this, then i'd imagine the name would be a subtle ( or not-so subtle ) allusion to flcl. maybe something like "fool's cool flight jacket" or some shit like that lol. idk i'm not clever, tell me if u got ideas tho >:J
ok little ending thing: if i were to make a cosmetic that references flcl without caring about the art style and setting of tf2 i would make pyro wear mamimi's uniform because firestarter >:D
that or give scout / demo a rickenbacker 4001 that makes a loud BWAAAHHH bass noise on hit, so its obnoxiously loud like the frying pan

this guy was complaining about our team not doing anything when he had 7 kills 35 deaths. i know not everyone who follows me here actually plays tf2 but this is actually abysmal for heavy. (he played a bit of spy and engineer too, but that was later in the round after he racked up like 5 kills 23 deaths as heavy.)

(mine ^. i joined late and played medic for a little bit when i first got there, but swapped to heavy once someone else swapped to medic. even when i was about to swap off medic, i checked our stats and i still had more kills than he did at one point. i think he was 5-23 and i was 7-8.)
i understand not doing well because you're new to the game and not used to the classes, but what i don't understand is shit talking your teammates while contributing nearly nothing. i tend to go easy on new players because i know tf2 is hard to learn but that all goes out the window if you start being toxic. you don't get to bark insults at your teammates and try to boss everyone around when you're 11-40 on a combat class and still have your fov set to 70.

Honestly i've also been thinking about it, but i think Donnie is like a switcher class, he can be Medic or an engineer.

Both roles just matched him so very well, if you look very very closely at it.
Medic: This matches Donnie mad crazy scientist heart of vibes so well, his personality is very similar with Medic and his passion of unethical experiment just matched him so well. Although its nowhere implied in the show they knows any medical experience, i like to think if Donnie would still be a medic although he has no experience in it whatsoever, he's just wingin it, "erm yes this organ goes this way, err yeahh."
Engineer: Listen, engineer are silly little guy and Donnie is a silly little guy. they love making machine that would kill people and also support his allys. but engineer can also be a sassy lil guy and a bastard. u ever in TF2, at low hp and then theres a fucking engineer drinking his boozes, u ask him to build a dispenser, but he didn't he just kept fucking drinking their goddamn boozes, eventually a spy backstabbed you and the goddamn engineer.
but then as i started to think more about it i began to sweat, fuck this role matches him more, no this role matches him more! honestly i still dont know on what role he would be. but i like ur idea and ur so right we were robbbed of brawn and brain, they are my favorite duo ever, i wish we got that stake out episode.
also got me thinkin on medic donnie and heavy raph, they would be the duo ever. Raph would feed and heal Donnie with sandwiches while donnie shoot everyone with needle and stab everyone with the saw, honestly their role would swapped like wtff ur supposed to be the attacker not the healer. but some times, Raph can be feral as a little treat, when Raph and Donnie goes into the natural order they instantly wiped the other team out, Donnie will contstantly seemingly endlessly have ubercharge, and Raph aim might not be as good as donnie but he makes up with his awesome skills and the contstant ubercharge, every enemy instantly explodes n Raph line of vision and Donnie cheer's from behind encouraging him.

Still trying to put together my class/hero shooter concept and getting irrationally upset that each character doesn't feel perfect. y'know, in the video game that exists exclusively in my head.
Bold giving Overwatch credit for much of anything nowadays, but it does exceptionally well in having such a large lineup of characters, all of which have distinctively defined ability sets that consist of unique abilities with very minimal overlap. Even when abilities do overlap, usually the context makes them distinct. Rein and Brig have very similar shield mechanics, but the fact that one is a massive ultrawide rectangle on a massive tank character and the other is a slim shield that only covers the body of the marginally above-average-sized support character means they don't feel redundant (in addition to the additional mechanics unique to each of them).
Going back specifically to my project, still tentatively titled "War Bots", there's the benefit of having a smaller roster (15/20 characters compared to OW's 21 on initial launch and 38 as of this moment). Plus, considering it's an original cast, there's not just free room but a necessity for basic "genre standard" archetypes like "the rocket launcher guy" and "the basic healer". However, War Bots has the distinct issue of its Loadout system. To paraphrase, imagine Overwatch hero kits, but you can swap weapons/abilities to customize your playstyle. somewhere between TF2's weapon system and something like Smash 4's custom special moves. This allows for more niches to be filled with a smaller roster (for instance, instead of having Soldier 76, Widowmaker, and Ashe all be separate characters, just have one character who's just "the rifle guy"), but it also means more creativity is needed to make every single aspect of each character's kit feel distinct not just in its own context, but in all the options for all the characters.
There's also the fact that I don't think the characters feel cohesive with themselves enough. The gameplay identities don't feel strong enough, and the abilities put together don't hold to the same scrutiny as, again, something like Overwatch. Once you've played the game for even a modest amount of time, you get into the natural flow of how abilities in a hero's kit synergize with each other and can be paced out in a way that leaves you with minimal downtime if you play properly. Even as a fairly average player, it's easy to find those moments where your abilities click together and you can time them just right off of their cooldowns, hopping from the safety of one action to another just in the nick of time, in a way that feels almost effortless once you get even just a decent grasp on it. The few abilities that stick out from this are notable, like Venom Mine or Petal Platform, being too niche to really warrant using as much as possible. Not saying there's never room for those kinds of abilities, but they need to be accommodated for. Venom Mine works on Widowmaker, a character who's not exactly hurting for a secondary means of damage output, while Petal Platform is/was arguably the biggest thing holding back Lifeweaver, since its utility is so comparably specific compared to what most other Supports offer.
To summarize: I'm rambling. To summarize a little better, there's a lot to designing gameplay for characters for a game like Overwatch, and those examples like Overwatch are admirable in how well they design characters as both parts of a larger cast and self-contained cohesive experiences. Which is why it's daunting to try and design a roster like that myself, even just in the current stage of theory because my ability to commit to projects is atrocious and Unity is still spooky.
In the most sincere summary: I should probably be thinking about something else right now.
