Note: The reasons may vary, but I personally think none of these men care about their spouse's body type or beauty standards in general. So I wrote about body parts instead, hope that's alright with you. 💕
gn! Reader I not all of those are sexual
Featuring: Alucard, Anderson, The Captain, Walter, Maxwell, the Valentine Brothers, The Captain
Alucard
Tumblr media
Neck obviously, since it's something so symbolic about you willingly exposing this vital spot to a monster like him. Loves digging his teeth into the tender flesh, mesmerized as he watches the liquid cascade from your collarbone down to your breasts/chest (his second favourite part).
If he feels like it he'll play with your blood as well, painting it across your skin and then licking it off, eager to not waste any drop.
Too shy to focus on inheritly sexual bodyparts, would always gaze away (even though he's craving to look, it just goes against his teachings). Since he's used to be surrounded by fully covered women, he gets excited by the smallest amount of exposed skin. Indulges in the soft feeling of it against his rough hands.
Anderson
Tumblr media
Also, the size difference (idc how tall you are, it will be there) wakes his protective instinct. Cradles you in his arms as often as possible, putting his head on top of yours.
The Captain
Tumblr media
Thighs and ass definetly. Will act chivalrous and open doors for you or let you go up the stairs first just to see it wiggle. It's driving him crazy. Digs his fingers into them at every opportunity, leaving marks with his bruising grip.
Also anything that's sensitive to his touch, not only during intimacy. Believe me he'll find out your weak spots. Man has a map of your body drawn in his mind.
Walter C Dornez
Tumblr media
Hips, as well as good hip dips and belly. He's most likely responsible for them growing on you, since he likes you well fed. Loves kneading them or seeing his wires lace into the cushion of your plush.
Got stretch marks? Even better! Absentmindedly traces them with his fingers or rubs oil onto them...for skincare purpose and not his own satisfaction, of course.
Enrico Maxwell
Tumblr media
Your hands in general, will always want to hold hands or feel them somewhere else on his body. At the beginning it shot pleasant tingles through his nerves, unused to closeness. But later on it becomes a soothing and reassuring sensation to always feel he's not alone anymore.
Will demand lots of massages or for you to run your fingers across his scalp while his head is in your lap, his favourite spot.
Luke Valentine
Tumblr media
Anything about your hair, from color to it's texture and smell. Enjoys twirling it around his finger, playing with it, combing and styling it, or tugging on it during the act.
Prefers you (at least partially) dressed rather than naked, especially if he gets to choose outfits for you to wear. He's a man that likes to let his imagination run wild.
Jan Valentine
Tumblr media
Literally anything, this guy's a freak. Doesn't matter at all, you could wear a fucking potato sack and he'd get aroused. If you ask him he'd just say anything works as a hole if you try hard enough. Sorry, he's not that romantic.
If you catch him at a good moment he'll babble something about how you're just so gorgeous that he simply can't decide on a single feature of yours.
The Major
Tumblr media
Eyes are the windows of our soul, or so he says. Gets captivated by yours each time, his intense stare searching them whenever you're in the same room.
Usually at some point his gaze always wanders down to your lips, relishing the way they move as you speak and running his thumb across it before relishing in the taste of you.

I stole a page from Wu Xie's private notes because I thought it was pretty.
[CW: insects, tryptophobia, harm to a human]

[ID Landscape page showing 'pencil' sketches of a moth and web, some small with folded wings, one large with outspread wings partially drawn in mottled glory. Centre bottom is the sketch of a hand with mysterious pockmarks. There are spots and scrapes of a red-brown substance. Title reads, 'Ghost Moths (avoid)'. End ID]

[ID Close-up of spread-winged ghost moth, in bright colours and wide 'brush-strokes' like oil paint. End ID]
Tumblr media
[ID Version of the painted moth, now looking like pencil on a white background. End ID]
I'm not going to say there's not stuff about these edits that isn't insanely nitpicky, frustrating, and tedious, but also a big chunk of this is knowing which filters can be slapped onto what and what effect they might have. The 'pencil' is directly derived from the 'oil' with some clean-up with the eraser tool and then copy-pasting some of the left wing to fill in a gap in the right that didn't convert well (that shadowy bit at the bottom.)
Tumblr media
[ID 'Sketch' of a hand held palm up with alarming smudges and small pockmarks dotted all over. End ID]
I got those crater textures by converting a picture of a wasp nest to 'pencil' and pairing it down until I got those alarming circles, and then played around with placement. Also... this started as a photo of a hand but I lost the tendons and the palm crease in conversion and rebuilt them from spare parts.
I'm. I'm pretty sure a real graphic designer would be Very Unimpressed by what passes for technique here, but it gets shit done and certainly entertains me.

Hi I love your style! Can I ask what brushes you use for procreate?
Sure! I use a lot of the default brushes so they should be available to anyone with the app.
For thumbnailing I like Calligraphy Pen and Gel Pen since they dont need a lot of pressure and you can easily hack out a little thumb without worrying about detail.
For pencils I use 6B Pencil and Charcoal Block for loose large sketches. To erase I use Airbrushing > Medium Hard Airbrush and Soft Brush.
Inks, The G-Pen (downloaded, dont know source) for smooth lines and Mercury for a little grit - my recent WIP and pageform BG3 comics use Mercury, but it's also kind of fussy in terms of size and pressure.
Dove Lake is my favourite texture brush for thinks like the partial illithid skin.
I tend not to do finished colour work in Procreate but if I do some go-tos are Painting > Round Brush, Flat Brush, Gouache, Fresco; or Artistic > Larapuna.
I've used Max Packs Oil Brush set before and really like it but I kinda just forgot about it since I shifted to Oops All Comics lol.

do you have a favorite physical art medium? what do you like the most about working with it?
hi friend, thanks for the ask! 💕
i love oil painting most of all because i think it's a considerably easier medium to work with than most. not to get on my soapbox bc every artist should use what is best and most comfortable for them, but i find that other physical media (esp water-based media, like acrylics or gouache) can be extremely punishing to work with if you're not busting out a piece in one sitting.
oils love to take their time to set, which means you can take your time with them. i've worked on big oil paintings over multiple weeks and had them remain completely workable without any need for solvents, which is lovely if you need to step away from a piece for a while, or just need a lot of hours to finish it.
also, as somebody who loves very gradual blending, oil is the way to go imho. you can get very smooth gradients (partially because of their drying time, but also just because of their texture) that i personally find very difficult with other media.

I love your art! It’s so high quality. What program(s) do you use to achieve that effect? And what tips do you have for aspiring artists wanting to reach such levels themselves?
Hi Anon!
Thanks a lot for the lovely compliment.
I mostly create my art using a technique called overpainting where I paint over reference images. I have an art background (took art at school and at college), but it was focused on abstract art so my experience with realistic proportions is exceedingly terrible and I've just never had the patience or put in the time to learn proportions from scratch. I've always admired artists who put in the time and effort to learn how to do that!
As for what programs I use, I tend to stick with Photoshop since that's what I was trained on and am most familiar with. I use a combination of brushes, filters and textures to give my art the look that it has. I tend to work at a resolution of about 3000px for height or width (whichever is the largest for the layout I'm going with) and a fixed brush size so that I can add a lot of detail and that it looks consistent throughout the piece. I also use tons of layers so that the lining, shading, colouring and any extra adjustments are all separate from each other and easily changeable. My PSD file usually averages between 300mb to 400mb in size because of all the layers.
The tool I probably use most outside of Photoshop is Color Cop. I'm partially colourblind, so when I want to use specific colours I need the hex codes or RGB codes otherwise it takes me ages to get the colours to blend right.
Below are some progress examples (from the "Sacrifice" theme for Sterek Week '23) of how I usually start out when I'm creating something. I go hunting for images and make a collage/edit of what I'd more or less like the finished piece to look like. Usually during this part I also play a lot with different ideas to see what works best. (Sometimes the final result ends up looking how I wanted, sometimes it takes on a life of its own and goes in a completely different direction!) The "Sacrifice" piece is made up of a promo shot of Stiles from Season 6 and a screenshot of Derek from Season 3 (I think). The background is made up of official images from Stranger Things that I blended together and added colour filters to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once that's done I start painting with pencil brushes to get the lines, then follow up with texturing and shading. I like to use a soft neutral colour like a beige as a base canvas so that I can paint with black as well as white. Lastly I'll paint in the colours and then finish off the piece by cleaning up the linework and by adding filters to adjust contrast/balance or colouring. Occasionally I've worked "backwards" by roughing painting the shading and some of the colours out first before adding linework.
As for specific tips, I think mindset and believing in yourself is important. It's very easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning, so don't compare yourself to others. If your art makes you feel something, then you're on the right track. Regardless of whether or not you work professionally as an artist, if you express yourself creatively in a visual medium - whether it's an oil painting or making lewd doodles in a sketchbook - then, in my opinion, you are an artist.
Once you're over that hurdle, the next part is just to keep at it. I hate using the word "practice", so I'm rather going to say keep making art consistently, and - most importantly - have fun while you're doing it. If it's fun, you're more likely to stick with it and improve. If you're trying to go in a specific direction with your art, I think there are two important areas to focus on: expanding your creativity and your familiarity with the tools you use. The latter especially will make your life a lot easier.
For me, being familiar with Photoshop is what allows me to make digital art the way I do. I've used it for a long time so I know a lot of tricks and shortcuts to help me achieve what I'm going for. This goes for any program you choose to use, though. And you don't have to limit yourself to one. Play around with different tools and programs and see what works the best for you. The internet is also a fantastic (and often free) resource, and YouTube especially has a lot of tutorials that can help you get started or help you build on your existing skills.
To expand your creativity with regards to your art, I recommend studying other artists - and not just one specific kind of artist either. Look at the old masters, look at modern art, look at fan artists, look at photographers and cinematographers. (And, of course, Mother Nature - the greatest artist of all.) Look at how they use composition, how they use colour, how they use lighting and shading. Try and incorporate some of those aspects into your own work and see what works for you.
TL;DR - Experiment and play… and most importantly, have fun!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

a few people have asked about the brushes/program i use, so i'm just making a post on it! i mainly use clip studio paint, and am currently trying out photoshop. some brushes i like are:
frenden's csp brushpack, great for texture and stuff! it's $15 but you get 800 really nice textured brushes to choose from, so i'd say it's worth it lol. there aren't any specific brushes i would recommend, as i'm still going through it and trying different ones out, but at the moment i'm quite partial to the 'hawley', 'swirl merl' and 'thwomp stomp' sets from v15 paints. the inkers feel quite nice for lines and effects too artemus pencils are amazing and i use them for all my sketching (and when i'm lazy they make for nice dynamic lineart too) oil small tip from this folder that's great for lineart these brushes by automeruz this rake brush that i like a lot the oil pastel brush from loish's brushset that i am obsessed with. i treat it more or less like an all-purpose brush - i've used it for lines, rendering people and backgrounds, everything this csp square brush that's fun for painting loosely for photoshop specifically, i really like these brushes by shiyoon kim, they're great for sketching and more gestural loose lines; they're $10 but very much worth it there's also the runny inkers by kyle webster that i love but that can sadly only be accessed through creative cloud (good news is that if you have creative cloud you can access all of kyle's awesome brushpacks for no extra cost!)
i'll probably add on to this post (when i have more time a little later) with some sketches using these brushes, just to illustrate :)

Apply the Vinyl Start applying the vinyl from one end, slowly working your way to the other, ensuring it lays flat and smooth. Use a heat gun to soften the vinyl as you go, allowing it to conform to curves and edges more easily.

"Sabel" by: BenCab (Benedicto Cabrera
by: Alibaba
Tumblr media
Benedicto "BenCab" Cabrera, a national artist of the Philippines, is showcasing one of his most well-known series, "Sabel," that illustrates his famous muse and investigation of social problems. "Sabel in Motion," a painting that represents BenCab's unique style with its strong, flowing lines and vibrant colors, is the focal point of his artwork. This specific piece, which was done in 2008 using oil on canvas, is a part of a series that was sparked by an actual scavenger lady the artist saw in Manila. BenCab uses abstract forms and vibrant color to represent the beauty and struggle of neglected people, transforming this figure into a symbol of survival and resilience. His work is still challenging and inspiring that art enthusiasts and cultural historians never wanted to miss.
The figure of Sabel is covered in a variety of vibrant, flowing textiles, most of which combine softer tones like white or gray with bright colors like blue, red, and yellow. Because the fabric frequently hides or partially conceals her face, she has an ethereal, enigmatic appearance. Usually figurative or unclear, the background highlights the texture and movement of the fabric surrounding the figure. The bold colors give the picture a bright, dynamic energy, and the flowing patterns of the cloth give it a sense of motion and fluidity.
First, let’s talk about the color. BenCab uses color in a very beautiful way in the Sabel series. Sabel stands out as the main character due to the vivid, striking colors of the materials contrasted with the calm, nearly monochromatic background. The figure, however solemn, is given life by the colors, which express emotions. And next is the composition, the cloth swirls around the figure in many of the series' powerful vertical or diagonal compositions. As a result, there is a sense of movement and the viewer's attention is drawn to Sabel's elaborately dressed figure in the center of the canvas. Moreover, line and form is also present, BenCab places a strong emphasis on flowing lines, particularly in Sabel's clothing folds. The woman appears both ethereal and grounded due to the abstract handling of her shape, with her face sometimes covered or indistinct. Lastly, the texture, the way the fabric is painted creates the illusion of texture, as if the person viewing it can actually feel the cloth's weight and movement. The painting's tactile quality is further improved by the contrast between the painting's smooth and rough strokes from the brush.
Benedicto "BenCab" Cabrera's "Sabel" can be situated within the context of Contemporary Art (Late 20th Century to Present), this was created in 2008. This artwork is composed of three varieties of style; modernism, expressionism, and social realism. BenCab's work often incorporates elements of modernism. He combines representational forms with abstraction, as seen in the way he uses flowing lines and vivid colors to depict Sabel's figure. This synthesis is representative of a modernist methodology that prioritizes personal expression and perspective. The expressiveness of the colors and shapes in "Sabel" is consistent with expressionism's principles, which emphasize expressing subjective experience over objective reality. This style is typified by BenCab's use of vibrant colors and a dynamic composition that evokes emotions and response from viewers. "Sabel" is situated under Social Realism due to its subject matter and its viewpoints on social issues, specifically poverty and marginalization. This art movement seeks to draw attention to and offer criticism on social issues, frequently concentrating on the hardships faced by the working class and other marginalized populations. This idea is embodied in BenCab's portrayal of Sabel, who uses art as an instrument to bring attention to societal injustices.
Even though BenCab's paintings are abstract, Sabel has a strong emotional impact. The underlying societal commentary on poverty, dignity, and survival is meant to be considered by viewers in addition to the visual appeal of the colors and lines. The Sabel series has a captivating visual aesthetic due to its vivid colors and dynamic compositions. The combination of vibrant, vibrant shades and a careful balance between abstraction and realism invites the viewer to examine the figure in greater detail. BenCab's Sabel, who symbolizes both the perseverance of the Filipino spirit and the suffering of those in need, has come to be recognized as an iconic figure in Philippine art. As a reminder of the nation's socio economic difficulties and the dignity of individuals who are frequently marginalized, it continues to have significance with viewers in today's society. It really moves me deeply especially how this artwork interprets the social struggles that we are experiencing today, thus, this artwork represents the boldness to strive and survive.
In conclusion, BenCab's "Sabel" goes beyond the boundaries of portraiture, turning a humble scavenger into a legendary representation of strength, determination, and dignity. The artist produces a powerful visual narrative that celebrates the unwavering spirit of the less fortunate while commenting on their marginalization through his dynamic brushwork and rich use of color. "Sabel" is a significant and enduring piece of contemporary Philippine art because it combines modernist abstraction with social realism elements. This allows the viewer to contemplate on larger social themes while also capturing the emotional and physical weight of the figure's challenges.

Exploring the Divine Realms: The Art of Crafting Heaven, Earth, and Hell in Hindu Mythology
In my recent artwork, I set out to bring to life the layered landscapes of heaven (Svarga), earth (Prithvi), and hell (Naraka) as envisioned in Hindu mythology. This piece is a textural journey into these realms, each distinct in energy and ambiance, rendered with expressive knife-painting techniques. Through this blog, I’ll take you through the materials, techniques, and thought process that shaped this artwork, capturing the essence of Hindu cosmology in vivid textures and colors.
Tumblr media
Conceptualizing the Painting
The inspiration for this piece came from the intricate depictions of Hindu cosmology. In Hindu mythology, each realm holds a distinct presence:
Heaven (Svarga) represents divine purity and is often associated with light, gods, celestial beings, and palatial splendor.
Earth (Prithvi) embodies life in all its forms, from mountains and rivers to flora and fauna.
Hell (Naraka), in contrast, is a realm of dark tones, symbolizing suffering and purification.
The aim was to create a layered effect, with each section visually separated yet cohesively linked, symbolizing the journey through these realms.
Materials Used
Canvas: I chose a textured, heavyweight canvas, ideal for supporting the thick layers and strokes typical of knife painting.
Palette Knives: A variety of knives—some with rounded edges for smooth clouds and light, and others with sharper edges for flames and jagged terrain—were essential in creating different textures across the realms.
Oil Paints: Known for their richness and vibrant hues, oil paints allowed me to blend colors seamlessly and layer tones for depth. The slow drying time also facilitated detailed work across each section.
Texturing Mediums: To add depth, especially in areas like rugged mountains on Earth or the flaming caverns in Naraka, I mixed some of the paints with a texture medium, providing a three-dimensional effect.
Creating the Layers
1. Heaven (Svarga)
Color Palette: Soft golds, whites, and light blue tones dominated, creating an ethereal look. Touches of pink and silver added to the otherworldly feel.
Knife Technique: Using rounded knives, I gently layered the paints in sweeping motions, blending white and gold to form the radiant clouds and palaces. The strokes were light and airy, creating a divine, uplifting ambiance.
Highlights: Small dabs of gold and white were added to create a glistening effect, mimicking the sparkle of celestial light.
2. Earth (Prithvi)
Color Palette: Rich greens, blues, browns, and earthy tones reflected the vibrancy of nature.
Knife Technique: For Earth, I used a mix of rounded and flat knives, moving with more pressure to create dense forests, flowing rivers, and mountain textures. Layering was key here, adding depth with each stroke to bring the landscape to life.
Blending: To achieve the seamless flow of rivers and forests, I blended green and brown with gentle, fluid knife strokes, creating a sense of life and motion.
3. Hell (Naraka)
Color Palette: Deep reds, blacks, and fiery orange set the tone for this ominous realm.
Knife Technique: I applied paint thickly here, using sharp and jagged knife strokes to depict flames, caves, and tortured spirits. For added intensity, I layered red and black heavily, creating a sense of depth and darkness.
Texturing Mediums: Mixed with paint, the medium added a tactile, almost chaotic feel to the flames, enhancing the overall intensity and rawness.
Final Touches and Drying
To ensure the layers stayed distinct, I allowed the paint to dry partially between each realm, adding final highlights and shadows to emphasize the separation. Heaven’s bright highlights contrasted with Earth’s lush, rich greens, while Hell’s dark shades were pushed to the background for a balanced composition.
Reflections on the Process
Creating this artwork was a journey through each realm, with the knife-painting technique allowing me to explore contrasts in texture, color, and energy. The knife work enabled bold textures and added depth, making each layer feel tangible and alive. From the divine glow of Svarga to the grounded beauty of Prithvi and the harrowing depths of Naraka, this piece symbolizes the full spectrum of existence as seen through the lens of Hindu mythology.
This artwork serves as a testament to the beauty and complexity of the Hindu cosmological vision, a landscape where the physical, divine, and underworldly realms coexist in harmony and tension.

Sonder Sketch (June 11, 2024), Prompt: Cheap
This is a digital sketch/painting done using a watercolor brush and a pen brush. It was drawn in the free Sketches app on Android with a generic phone stylus, for a prompt from the Sketch a Day app/site that provides daily drawing prompts and has a generally supportive community.
The prompt was "cheap," and my family has a small flock of chickens (and a turkey, part of a mated pair) who lay eggs for us daily. I joke that these eggs are their rent, allowing us to have cheap eggs in exchange for them having a safe and healthy environment. I didn't trust myself to make lineart over oil paint clear in this one, knowing I'd need to draw ovals repeatedly. I cut back on lineart by using the watercolor brush instead, and tried my best to remember the exact colors and patterns of the eggs without checking -- mostly out of laziness and partially because it was the middle of the night and I wanted to be considerate about leaving lights off. The brown eggs are more beige and/or tan in reality, the green eggs are lighter in shade, and the turkey eggs are also tan and have brown spots rather than black. The egg carton itself is also slightly disproportionate to the eggs I drew, and while I wrote the words "good morning" to fill in blank space they could centered better.
I do like the letters themselves, I think my penmanship looks good here. I also like the texture of the watercolor paint, which gives the eggs an illusion of dimension. The colors aren't accurate, but they're nice shades that work well against the background. The background color itself is also sunny and warm, which creates a positive association with my family's chickens and the eggs they provide us. I like that I pulled that off. Also, I like that the "cheap" and "cheep" audio pun just barely works with this piece.
Bonus fact: the birds in our family that don't lay eggs include our male turkey, our male emus, and my pair of budgies who live indoors and are discouraged from egg laying for their health.

i fucminf LOVE ur art i want to devour it. do u mind me asking what brushes u use
Oh my god. I have... SO many brushes lmao. And i change it up a LOT because it keeps my art fresh. I use procreate is the first thing
Tumblr media
(this is maybe half of my folders not including defaults)
The main brushes I use are from my LOVE Maddie Bellwoar who prices her stuff way too cheap for how quality they are. i cannot express how much I love these brushes. i use all of them all the time. and have for years now.
The other pack i have been using a lot is this Elizmils Sketch & lineart brushes
I have dozens and dozens that i use for so many things but I tried to narrow it down to my most basic used ones:
Tumblr media
1 is the elizmil pack. I use these for my linearts, my sketching & my color fill
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then #2 i use maddies hand painted gouache brushes for my coloring lately. I like the texture of it
Tumblr media
#3 I use it less now unless i'm painting foliage but her Ghibli Set is a CLASSIC and I still use it to do hair more than any other brush. She came out with a second one that I have yet to explore
Tumblr media
#4 Then finally I have an airbush i made myself for rendering. It's just a hard blend that I overlaid a rust texture with to give it some texture variation. it's subtle once you blend but adds a lot of subtle detail.
Tumblr media
You'll see I have duplicates here and that's because I will have versions of a brush with a hue shift on it. This basically slightly changes the color with every stroke. You can see it most on my skin/coloring brushes. There's multiple because some have more of a hue shift than others. But it mimics partially blended oil paints and just adds even more texture. which I love.
Tumblr media
Specifically the setting to tweak is the Stroke color and BE conservative with it unless you want some crazy changes. I don't ever go above 8% really

Recreation of elven painter Alois Vidius' "Unnamed", by Ezra Shaw, half-elven painter. (Image is AI Generated)
---
33 Taurid 229
Dr. Hart,
I am writing you concerning a peculiar oil painting that has recently come into my possession. I have heard, on many occasions and oft in accompaniment with great commendation, that your portion of the Empyrean Academy deals in the collection and preservation of historic and noteworthy artefacts, and thus upon my acquiring this painting, my first thoughts turned to you. It is a painting whose nature I think you will find most exciting, as unless I was mistaken on my first appraisal, I believe it to belong to the lost paintings of Alois Vidius.
As best as I am able to, I will describe the painting to you now. It is a depiction of a sky filled with fields of clouds, which stretch into the far distance where they are lit by a golden light from somewhere behind. The sense of depth Vidius conveys with his brushstrokes is one that I have not seen paralleled in the work of any other artist. This appears to be achieved partially through the physical construction of the painting, where the canvas has been layered with some other material, which gives the painting not just a depth but a fullness and texture to it. It is like looking into an entire other world that Vidius has built from scratch.
If you will oblige me, I find I am entreated to speak also for the painter's attention to detail, which is utmostly impeccable. From afar, it gives the illusion that you can see the brushwork of the artist, swept hastily across the canvas; but upon approach, one finds fractal-like detail, which only contributes to rendering the painting's subject more distant and looming than it otherwise would seem to be.
The painting positively lightens up my estate, and I would be inclined to keep it. However, if I am correct, and it is indeed one of Vidius' paintings, I must endeavour to transfer it to your Academy's keeping, where I understand it will be best preserved and protected. Assuming the Academy is able to spare the funding, I would be willing to part with it for perhaps 200,000 Silver Libra, and I am well sure the painting is worth that sum, if not more.
Awaiting your consideration,
Mr. Pedigree Shrew Chief Barrister of Standard Holdings, LLC. 36 Whitbury Park Silomouth, Reseggia

The Empyrean Academy's Head of Artefact Storage is sitting in a quiet room. And, despite the fact that she is holding a quill, and that she had sat down with the intention to write, the sheet of paper on her desk still remains blank.
Her head rests in the hand not holding the quill, and her eyes stare across to the other side of her desk, where beside the blank sheet of paper lays a creased piece of parchment. The letter had arrived on her desk last night.
It is at this point that the door behind her creaks open, casting a quadrangle of light into the room. As the woman straightens herself, she is struck momentarily by the thought of how dark it had been in here before, lit only by her candlelight.
"Goodmorning Belle," the young man in the doorway says, as Dr. Hart pushes away the letter and swivels around in her chair.
"Mornin' Cillian," she replies, relieved for the distraction. Cillian was one of those students that Belle almost considered a friend. He didn't study under her, but a while back he began taking an interest in the things she kept in Artefact Storage, and she was more than happy to tell him all about them. A year later, and comes by most afternoons.
"What's got you down here so early?" she says. "Do you need me unlock the door for you?"
Cillian sniffs the air. "Nah, just thought I'd pop in and say hello. Awful musty in here, isn't it?"
"Yeah. How're your studies going? Marlin treating you to harshly?"
"He's not too awful, but you know him." He laughs. "Actually, I'm out on a field mission next month, down in Reseggia. First time on my own, actually."
"Excited?"
He smiles. "A little."
"Who's the old spymaster got you snooping on this time?" She grins.
"Oh, it's various people. Hey, what about you? What's got you up so early, huh?"
She glances back at her desk, and sighs. "I... got this letter last night."
"Oh, is it from Abigail?" He perks up.
"No, there's still no word from her. It's this guy from down in Reseggia. Pedigree Shrew. Wants to sell us a painting. Thinks it's a Vidius."
"Well, is it?"
"Well, that's the thing; I don't know. I'd have to see it, and it's all the way down in Reseggia. That's the issue, really. If it is a Vidius, it's paramount we get it into the collection before anything happens to it, but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable blowing the Academy budget on this guy's hunch." She swivels back and faces the letter. "And now, I have to make the painful decision of whether to risk it."
"How much is he asking?"
She turns back to him. "Two hundred grand. Silver."
He whistles. "Hmm. Can't say I'm envious of your position."
"Yeah, I can't say I'm envious of it either." She chuckles.
After a moment, Cillian seems to remember something.
"Wait, where did you say the guy was from again?"
"Silomouth. Works at 'Standard Holdings', apparently."
"Oh, hey!" His face lights up. "Silomouth is one of the places I'm going next month."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, yeah. Say, would it help if I paid our Mr. Shrew a visit and checked out the painting?"
She thinks about this for a moment. "Do you think you could tell if it was a Vidius? I suppose you could, you've seen the ones in storage plenty of times, right?"
"Would it be alright by you? If I did that?"
"Of course it would! Takes a load of my chest, anyhow." She smiles.
Cillian is beaming now. "Can I have the letter?"
She passes it to him. "I appreciate the help."
He holds the letter firmly. "Just glad to be of service."

This is so interesting. I only knew a little of this.
My current routine is based on a tight budget and working around chronic pain and fatigue.
Face and Teeth:
Wash face, brush teeth, floss, mouthwash and clean my facial piercings daily
Dentist every 6 months
Avoid facials because my skin reacts badly to almost anything besides my Clean & Clear face wash and Nivea face cream
Hair Removal:
Shave ideally 3 times a week but possibly only once depending on how I'm feeling
Partially shave brows every 2-3 days or whenever I go out, whichever comes first
Use Nivea and Bath & Body Works Sweetpea body lotion
Use raw yellow shea butter on dry skin like feet and knees
Nails:
File nails into an oval shape (greatly reduces risk of breakage) every 4 weeks, not letting them get too long
Re-paint nails every 1-2 weeks, using both basecoat and topcoat and moisturizing nails beforehand
Hair:
I have afro-textured hair so I wash it once a week with Head & Shoulders (I used to use Stopitt but can't afford it anymore) and rinse and comb it twice a week
I towel dry my hair but leave it as wet as possible so that when I put in my Lush shea butter and African Gold castor oil, it seals the water in so my low-porous hair can absorb it
I wrap my hair in a satin wrap before I go to bed and I have a satin pillowcase just in case I forget to put it on or have too much of a headache to wear it
I comb it about every other day or whenever I go out, whichever comes first, to avoid over-manipulating my hair
Re-dye my hair (colour only) with Splat dye every 4-6 months (it fades really slow and pretty) and bleach & dye my roots every 6-12 months
After bleaching and dyeing my roots, I smother my hair in water and oil and keep it in the satin wrap for a whole week, still combing it every 2 days or so
This is a perfect example of the range of things you can do with your body if you want to, versus the bare minimum.
Beauty Diary
Chapter 2: Building A Maintenance Routine
Let’s girl talk about how to build a maintenance routine, how to schedule, when to book appointments + understanding medical esthetic procedures.
How to Build a Routine:
Understand yourself and your beauty needs/desires. Do you want to start getting manicures? Are there any skin concerns you want to address + treat? Any enhancements you want? Are you ready to start keeping up with your hair? Once these questions are answered you can start building a routine!
Know what services can be done at a salon or at home.
Research for the best salons and spas near you
Take note of what you learn about yourself from your appointments so you know how to keep up at home. Ex.) Your skin type, curl pattern, hair porosity, ingredients that work best for you + your skin undertone.
List out what services you want done, how often you want them done and what you’re looking to achieve after each service.
Set beauty goals and plan to save for special beauty services.
Facials:
Basic facials should be done every 4-6 weeks.
When it comes to medical spa procedures they should be done at least once a month!
Here’s a short list of my favorite medical spa treatments to gain an understanding of what they are and how they benefit you.
Hydrafacial: a non invasive procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection by removing dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously delivering moisturizing serums into the skin. (Skin type: ALL) should be done every 4-6 weeks.
Chemical Peel: a solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. (Skin type: ALL. Darker skin complexions can experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) should be done once a month.
Microdermabrasion: a minimally abrasive instrument is used to gently sand your skin in order to remove the thicker, uneven outer portion of skin. Best for light scarring, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks. (Skin type: Skin prone to acne scars, age spots, unevenness, discoloration and sun damage.) should be done very 4-8 weeks.
PRP aka Vampire Facial: a procedure that involves drawing the clients blood, spinning it and injecting it through microneedling to increase collagen, reduce fine lines/wrinkles, improve moisture retention and enhance skin tone + texture. (Skin type: typically ACNE PRONE SKIN) should be done every few weeks and maintenance sessions are done 2-4 times a year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hair Removal
There are many types of hair removal procedures to invest your time and money into. Waxing, sugaring, threading, laser hair removal and electrolysis. It’s best to go in for a hair removal service when your hair is the size of a grain of rice.
Waxing: every 2-5 weeks. face, underarms and bikini can be done every 2-3 weeks. hair length should be 1/4 of an inch.
Sugaring: every 2 weeks. hair length should be at least 1/8 of an inch.
Threading: every 2-3 weeks.
Laser Hair Removal: every 4-6 weeks done in about 4-6 treatment sessions. maintenance treatments can be done once every 6-12 months.
Electrolysis: every 2-4 weeks done in about 8-12 treatments. can take any where from 8 months, 12 months and 2 years to complete the treatment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cosmetic Injections
Cosmetic injections tend to be a yearly treatment routine. I recommend investing in packages in order to get more treatment sessions for a certain amount of money. They can also include a free treatment. Packages can be used for medical esthetic procedures such as laser hair removal packages, body contouring packages and tattoo removal packages as well.
Participating in Botox parties are also a good way to get a discount and purchase Botox packages. I used to assist hosting botox parties which included champagne, mimosas, cute desserts and discounts for clients if they brought a friend!
Botox: once every 4 months.
Lip Filler: once every 12-18 months.
Chin Filler: once every 1-5 years.
Non Surgical Rhinoplasty: once every 6 months.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nails
During the summer time is when I go into the nail salon more often than usual to keep my nails and toes ready for the sunshine.
Gel Manicure: every 3-4 weeks between fills.
Gel Pedicure: 2 weeks to 1 month.
Acrylic Nail Set: filled every 2-3 weeks. every 8 weeks to replace fake nails.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hair
Your hair should be healthy and kept in good maintenance by using an effective salon routine.
Hair Color: every 4-6 weeks between each hair coloring session.
Haircut: every 6-8 weeks or every 3-4 months.
Extensions: glue and tape extensions every 4-8 weeks, sew-in extensions every 6-8 weeks and micro-link extensions every 2-3 months.
Wig Installations: every 1-6 weeks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other
Lash Extensions: every 2-3 weeks.
Lash Lift: every 6-8 weeks.
Lash Tinting: every 4-6 weeks.
Bow Tinting: every 4 weeks.
Brow Lamination: every 4-6 weeks.
Microblading: touch ups 1 or 2 times a year.
Appointment Layout:
Week 1: hydrafacial & extraction session.
Week 2: eyebrow wax & tint.
Week 3: hair cut & color.
PSA:
How often you get any procedures done depends on you, your budget, your skin, your hair, your nails, your stylist, your esthetician or your health care provider. Please build a beauty routine that fits you and your life style the best!

I've got an heirloom leopard rug+head mount attached onto a felt base that's absolutely /fucked/ - literally tattered and got patches missing and nearing if not past its 100th birthday but my dad desperately wants it to be salvaged. I can get some photos but it's not on me rn, but I'd really appreciate either a ballpark quote for what a professional may charge to do a facelift or what can by DIY'd bc we're on a very tight budget. I was considering just finding a similarly textured fur or material and airbrushing in the missing parts but I'm no taxidermist. I was given my dad's blessing to whatever I want to unfuck it and I feel partially responsible bc I definitely wore it out by wearing it around as a kid 💀💀
I can't remember the exact price but when I asked a local taxidermist about getting my lion pelt felted it was between $200-$400. Restoration with hides like that is tricky. Never seen or felt leopard fur in person so I'm not certain what would be the best hide to texture match or use as a basis for patching (likely goat, cow, or whitetail if they have similar fur texture to my lion). The hide would have to be de-rugged, conditioned with tanning oils assuming the leather is still in ok shape, then sewn, patched, airbrushed, and re-felted. Faux fur would work as well so long as it's painted/shaved to match the hide, but it's easier to attach leather to leather due the the oils and adhesives you can use to patch things. It's a lot of time and work, so likely in the ballpark of around $800 or so depending on who you ask. Since leopards are CITES I, you'd have to find a taxidermist in your state to do the work. Even if it's just for restoration work, I'm fairly certain they can't be sent across state lines.
The easiest thing to do would be to remove and store the felt and flat hide together (maybe in a frame so it at least stays in the condition it's in while still being displayed) and then have the head mount cleaned and restored so it can be displayed separately. Leather just has an expiration date unfortunately, even if it's constantly conditioned and stored properly it just eventually gets old and dries out :c
