Seven (+) Sentence Sunday
Tagged by the very lovely @rainbow-nerdss, @fortheloveofbuddie @wikiangela @evanbegins and @daffi-990. Thank you! Can't wait for all your upcoming works!
In honor of the NFL regular season coming to an end today and the beginning of the playoffs, I'm sharing a part of a fan favorite. That's right ya'll, its an NFL Buck snippet! WOOOOO! (And I know this wayyyyy more than seven sentences, but are ya'll going to complain about extra NFL Buck?)
Eddie wasn't lying when he told Chimney he loved football. He just didn't say how much. When Chim invited the newest member of the 118 and his son to a kid friendly sports bar to watch the Rams play the Colts in Indy, he was expecting to be turned down. Hen encouraged it, "He needs friends that enjoy what he does. And I really can't listen to another rant about football stats or how Dustin Watson isn't taking the Texans to the tournament." "Deshaun Watson." Bobby corrected from the kitchen, "And its the playoffs." Hen rolls her eyes, "Whatever. You both have Sunday free and Buckley is playing, Christopher's favorite player." "How do you know the Ram's quarterback is playing, but not the name of the man who got Buckley kicked out of Texas?" Chim teased. "Denny." His friend answers simply, "You know he likes all things LA Rams." "Then why aren't you inviting Eddie and Christopher to your place to watch the game with Denny?" "Because Howard," Hen remarks a little sharply, "I'm not off Sunday and Karen has yet to meet Eddie, so it would be uncomfortable for everyone to have him in our home without me. Why are you arguing about this? You were just complaining about how Eddie and I are all buddy-buddy the other day." "You two have a lot more in common and somehow I always seem to stick my foot in my mouth whenever I talk to the guy. I freaking outed the dude!" Chimney reminds them. Bobby steps away from the stove and joins the two paramedics at the marble island, "Eddie wasn't making it easy for any of us to get to know him. Hen was just braver than most to actually approach him. Now its your turn and football is a good jumping point." Chimney opens his mouth to try objecting again, "And it will help in making up for the whole outing incident and interrogating his kid."
Cap had him there "And you'll pay." Hen demands and when Chimney arches a brow of slight disagreement she just shrugs and states, "It'll help dispel some of the notion of being his boyfriend's sugar baby and his birthday is the same week, making this an easy gift." And Hen made the kill shot. So Chimney awkwardly approached Eddie in the locker room at the end of their shift and invited him and Christopher to watch the game. He was happily surprised when Eddie said yes and brought an equally ecstatic Christopher with him without hesitation. Chim was additionally surprised with Eddie's total enrapture of the game, even more so with his undivided attention to the Ram's new quarterback, Evan Buckley. Every play the man made, Eddie was on his feet making some sort of comment. Good plays came with shouts of, "Good boy Buckley!" and "Great throw man!". Poor plays, interceptions, or missed opportunities, were met with, "Shake it off Buckley!" and "You got this Evan!" And any missed or bad calls from the refs... well Chimney knew foul language when he heard it, no matter what language. "We have a swear jar at home. It gets donated to Evan's charity at the end of the season." Christopher explains when he catches Chimney's questioning side glance after his father's latest f-bomb. Ah well, at least there's some sort of consequence to cursing in front of a child. "I have to pay up too if I say anything like my dad does, but I've never come close to his number." Chris adds on with a giggle and Chimney joins him with a low chuckle of his own. A niggle of curiosity has him asking, "And what about Buck?" The younger Diaz gives all his attention to what remains of his fries and shrugs with one shoulder, "Um... well I've never watched a game with Buck, but he does always double the jars total when we donate it." Chimney really wants to push on the whole matter of Eddie's partner of 10 years never once watching a game with the kid, but he knows interrigating Chris (again) about Buck (who is off limits unless otherwise brought up) would probably put an end to Eddie and Chim's burgeoning friendship. So he goes for a joke, "He must live with soap in his mouth if your dad is to go by." Earning a full belly laugh from the teen and Chimney counts it as a major win when Eddie glances back with bright grin.
I feel like Eddie and Chim have the whole, I'm friends with you because of a Buckley and because we work together thing. So take away the Buckley and its a bit of an awkward friendship, which I wanted to highlight and improve. Hope you all enjoyed!!!! More NFL Buck can be found here.

Additional Speculation On Season Storylines (Listed by team) List does not include all NFL teams
Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders fire Josh McDaniels after starting 2-10 and losing to the Chiefs Week 12 in Las Vegas, and promote defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to be their interim head coach.
Patrick Graham will finish the season with a record of 2-3, leaving the Raiders with a final record of 4-13.
The Raiders will fire general Manager Dave Ziegler, interim coach Patrick Graham, and a majority of the rest of McDaniels' staff after the regular season is completed.
Tennessee Titans
Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill gets injured early in the season, and the Titans allow scond-year QB Malik Willis and rookie Will Levis to struggle for the starting spot before Levis wins it outright after during Tennessee's bye week in Week 7.
Levis then manages to lead the Titans to an 8-3 record from the bye week on, putting up Rookie of the Year-worthy numbers... if he had started the full season.
The Titans still manage to fall in the Wildcard Round to a tough Browns team, but this year still cements Levis as the starting quarterback going into 2024, with Tannehill likely to be moved by the front office in the offseason.
Washington Commanders
Ron Rivera is fired after a Week 16 loss to the Jets, finishing his season in Washington with a record of 4-11. Assistant head coach and Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is promoted to be the interim head coach.
Bieniemy then coaches the Commanders to a 2-0 record in the final games, and after the season, his interim tag is dropped in order to make Eric Bieniemy the full-time head coach of the Washington Commanders in 2024.
Aside
Originally, I had afew wonkier predictions, namely the Cardinals and Colts trading their respective picks to quarterback-needy teams so those unnamed teams could select one of USC QB Caleb Williams or UNC QB Drake Maye.
My only reservation was that by the time October comes around, we're gonna have seen a much better sample size of football in 2023, so I'm certain I'll have opinions on it. I'd just like to save some for the wilder stuff for when there's a clearer picture to expand upon.
Ideally, I'd like to do one of these at the end of every month of the season, so we'll see how that goes.
End of the way, I wanted to put something out to reign in the new year, and I hope you're along for the ride.
Now who's ready for some mothafuckin football?

Around 10 of the women who accused Deshaun Watson of sexual misconduct expected to attend his Cleveland Browns debut vs. Houston, attorney says | CNN
Around 10 of the more than two dozen women who accused Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson of sexual misconduct were expected to attend his game in Houston on Sunday, according to their attorney.
Watson returned to the field to a mix of boos and cheers Sunday for his first NFL regular season game in two years to play against his former team, the Houston Texans, after serving an 11-game suspension without pay following sexual misconduct allegations.
“They thought it important to make clear that they are still here and that they matter. I was proud of them for that,” Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing the accusers attending the game, told CNN in a statement. “I have made that opportunity available to them. I haven’t been to a Texans game in many years. But, because they are going, I will go too.”

Derrick Deshaun Watson (September 14, 1995) is a football quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. He played college football at Clemson, where he led the team to a national championship in 2016. He was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
He was born in Gainesville, Georgia to Deann Watson and Don Richardson. He attended Gainesville High School, Gainesville head coach Bruce Miller had planned to start a rising junior at quarterback to execute his spread offense, but he won the starting spot, becoming Miller’s first-ever freshman starting quarterback.
He set numerous state records, including those for total yards (17,134), total touchdowns (218), career passing yards (13,077), and career passing touchdowns (155). He rushed for 4,057 yards and 63 touchdowns. He excelled in his junior year, winning a state championship and earning accolades such as Junior All-American, 2014 Player to Watch, and 2014 Top 100 Recruit. During his sophomore and senior years, he led Gainesville to the state semifinals.
He received offers from numerous colleges before committing to Clemson University. He was ranked as the top quarterback recruit for the 2014 class by ESPN 300.
He guided the Texans to consecutive division titles in 2018 and 2019 and led the league in passing yards in 2020. He received Pro Bowl honors in each of his three seasons as Houston’s primary starter. He has the highest career completion percentage of all time and is second in all-time career passer rating.
Disagreements with the Texans’ front office and multiple sexual misconduct lawsuits kept him out for the entire 2021 season and led to a trade to the Cleveland Browns. In March 2022, he signed a five-year contract worth $230 million, one of the most expensive contracts in NFL history.
He is a Christian and converted to the Southern Baptist Convention after coming to Houston. When he was 11, Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn donated a home to his family. He donated his first NFL game check to three cafeteria employees affected by Hurricane Harvey who work at the Houston Texans’ NRG Stadium. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Fantasy sports community after the reality television star won $1 million in a DraftKings NFL contest over the weekend.
Roper Tolbert confirmed on Twitter that she won the top prize of $1 million in DraftKings’ $2.25 million Fantasy Football Millionaire Maker competition, which was based on the four NFL playoff games held on Saturday and Sunday.
Roper Tolbert’s winning entry scored 180.78 points to eke out a win over the second-place finisher, a competitor by the user name “spclk36” whose entry tallied 178.16 points, good enough for $100,000. Roper Tolbert finished fourth on season 19 of “The Bachelor,” and she would later appear on “Bachelor In Paradise,” where she met her husband, Tanner.
This Bachelorette and her husband and both max enter the milly and not share Qbs?,” said Twitter user “gravycakesDFS.” “Her insta and twitter don’t have a single sports post prior either.”
What that poster and others are referring to is data indicating that Roper Tolbert and her spouse show little overlap across their 300 entries at the vital quarterback position.
Collusion Calls Roper Tolbert’s $1 million win has left a bad taste in some DraftKings player mouths, with many saying collusion between the winner and her husband was at play.
For example, Tanner reportedly used Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the Seahawks’ Russell Wilson on 108 of his 150 entries, while his wife didn’t use those stars in any of her lineups. Conversely, the winning wife used the Texans’ DeShaun Watson and the Titans’ Ryan Tannehill a total of 96 times, while her husband didn’t “draft” those players at all.
Internet chatter was strong enough to spark a response from Boston-based DraftKings.
“We take the integrity and fairness of our contests very seriously and are looking into this matter,” said the company.
Still, Roper Tolbert garnered plenty of online support, particularly when posting a tweet revealing that she opted to use Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf in some of her lineups against her husband’s advice. Metcalf, a rookie out of Ole Miss, had seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown, the equivalent of fantasy sports gold at that position.슬롯사이트
Odd Timing Allegations of collusion against DraftKings come less than two weeks after the company announced a merger with investment firm Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ:DEACU) and SBTech, setting the stage for an initial public offering (IPO) later this year.
DraftKings and rival FanDuel dealt with a major scandal in 2015 when then-DraftKings employee Ethan Haskell, who had knowledge of users player selections, would use that information for profit on FanDuel because he was forbidden from participating in his employer’s contests.
That controversy caught the eye of federal regulators, sparked class action lawsuits, and got the two daily fantasy companies banned in Nevada.

Andrew Berry sees 'big year' for Deshaun Watson in year 3 with Browns
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Andrew Berry isn’t interested in what the eyes of others outside of the Browns’ organization have to say about quarterback Deshaun Watson. The only ones that matter to the team’s general manager are his own. Berry’s admittedly biased in some regards there, having been the general manager who swung the 2022 trade with the Houston Texans to bring Watson to Cleveland.…

Exes Gone Wild: Which Jilted Parties will have their Revenge on Wild Card Weekend?
Ah revenge games. The age old “I’ll show them they were wrong” narrative that makes football almost as good as a parlay with a full paycheck. This narrative becomes even juicier when it occurs in the playoffs. Not only can you deal an L to the team that dumped you, but you can ruin their season, their Super Bowl hopes, and a year’s worth of hard work in the process.
This year’s Wild Card Weekend contains not one, not two, not three, but you guessed it FOUR postseason revenge narratives. Today we’ll dive into each one of those, explore what makes them so damn compelling, and give our thoughts on who will prove they were the one that got away and who will prove to be complete losers that don’t deserve love at all.
Texans vs Browns
Despite the Houston Texans’ leadership shamelessly covering up Deshaun Watson’s rampant predatorial tendencies and rewarding him with a life changing contract while he sexually violated every masseuse he could find on Instagram, Watson just wasn’t all that appreciative and tried to force his way out of the organization via trade demand at the conclusion of the 2020 season.
The Texans dug their heels in determined to get what they viewed as commensurate value for a Quarterback of Watson’s caliber despite mounting civil lawsuits. Eventually, the Texans struck a deal that resulted in 3 First Round Picks for Houston and an unprecedented fully guaranteed $230 million for Watson. That deal largely shaped the current Texans which find themselves in the postseason after somehow striking gold on another Quarterback in the draft and enlisting hometown hero Demeco Ryans as their Head Coach.
This matchup would have been so much more tantalizing were Watson starting, but alas, he is done for the year once again as that trade continues to age horribly for Cleveland. Still, since enlisting the services of Joe Flacco, the Browns look like bonafide Super Bowl contenders and nobody (well besides every woman in America) wants to see Watson get a ring less than the Team he so publicly embarrassed. Having found something stable with a nice guy who has everything in front of him, Houston would love to give the middle finger to the scumbag who took them for all they were worth.
Who wins:
While we love CJ Stroud and think the future is extremely bright for the surprise AFC South Champion, the Browns have been winning IN SPITE of Deshaun Watson who is a shell of his former self. This team has never looked better since bringing Flacco out of Daddy Day Care, going 4-1 and scoring 28.6 PPG with him as the starter while boasting the league’s top Defense. The Texans will absolutely make noise in the years to come, but it’s hard to imagine they’re ready to take a team this complete down just yet.
Tyreek Hill vs the Chiefs
In his two years away from the Chiefs, Tyreek Hill has proven both why you trade your super star receiver and subsequently why you don’t trade your superstar receiver. Chiefs’ kingdom basically reached Civil War level division on this subject as they debated whether Mahomes could carry this team without a clear cut top wide receiver.
Despite the initial results of that experiment being mixed, the defending Super Bowl Champions undoubtedly feel they made the right decision and will find receivers who can catch eventually. On the other side Hill, who was just named First Team All Pro, has had an MVP caliber season netting 1,814 all purpose yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. The first time he saw his former Kansas City flame, he nervously fumbled and basically threw up all over himself whilst representing the greatest Country on Earth on foreign soil.
He’ll no doubt be looking to redeem himself in their next encounter with the type of performance that can fast-track him to the second ring of his career and the first in a teal and orange uniform.
Who wins:
With -21° wind chill temperature expected, it’s hard to imagine a team from Florida seriously competing in this game. Couple that in with the loss of two of their premier pass rushers and a Kansas City team that can run the piss out of the ball, play mean defense, and oh I don’t know, has Patrick Fucking Mahomes, and it becomes very hard to envision the Dolphins winning this game. The most likely outcome is Tyreek confirming the Chiefs we’re right to move on from him until they lose in the AFC Championship because they can’t pass the fucking ball.
Mike McCarthy vs the Green Bay Packers
As hilarious as it is to poke fun at Mike McCarthy’s complete lack of situational awareness in tight games, he did what the Packers’ new flame has yet to show he can do and brought Green Bay their last Lombardi. And while it’s easy to give Aaron Rodgers all the credit for that, Matt LaFleur had the 4 Time MVP/sworn enemy of Jimmy Kimmel PLUS Davante Adams and back-to-back 1 Seeds and still has yet to even make the big dance. Still, there’s a reason LaFleur was brought in and it had a lot to do with Rodgers’ constant questioning of McCarthy and the franchise being middle of the…..Pack towards the end of Big Mike’s tenure.
The most damning aspect of this transition was the Packers’ immediate ascension to the top of the NFC with three consecutive 13 win seasons. So how has McCarthy responded in his second go round as HC? With three consecutive 12 win seasons! That’s right both these coaches have reasons to puff their chests out and Sunday’s Wild Card matchup will undoubtedly be a nationally televised dick measuring contest.
The key difference here is Green Bay’s new beau is playing with house money. Rodgers and Davante are gone, half the Packers’ roster still carries fake IDs, and McCarthy is under more pressure than ever to deliver the goods at home with the best Cowboys’ team he’s had and coaches like Belichick and (most likely) Jim Harbaugh back on the dating scene. Green Bay has also had Dallas’ number as of late ESPECIALLY in the playoffs (just ask Dez). If he lets Green Bay’s new man come into his house and give his ex a night she’ll never forget right in front of him and all his fans, he’s as good as gone.
Who wins:
While it would undoubtedly be hilarious to watch another early Dallas collapse in the postseason in a game they should absolutely win, this feels like too tall of an order. The Packers have played well and will be a lot of fun to watch in the years to come, but this years’ Cowboys play too well at home (16 straight wins in Jerry World) and are too well rounded with All-Pros in all three phases, while the Packers’ are woefully inexperienced on this type of stage. It would take a cataclysmic meltdown for this upset to occur and while we won’t totally rule that out, our money is on the home team winning a game that is probably closer than it should be.
Jared Goff vs The Rams
Of all the exciting revenge narratives of Wild Card Weekend, Goff’s Detroit Lions vs Matthew Stafford’s Rams IN DETROIT is the Super Bowl of axes to grind. It’s not every day that number one overall picks are swapped, let alone face each other on their respective new teams in a do or die game. Matthew Stafford was basically the Tom Brady of disappointing his fanbase during his tenure as a Lion, going 0-3 in the playoffs with Detroit. He’ll look to keep that streak alive and ensure another playoff loss for Detroit this Sunday. He finally popped his cherry with the Rams who did things with him his former flame never would. To make things juicier, the Rams left Jared Goff, a Quarterback who had taken them to a Super Bowl, to be with Stafford.
When Goff was dumped, everyone assumed him falling into Detroit’s arms was a meaningless rebound that would flame out in no time. But lo and behold, this dynamic just works with Goff doing things for this Lions franchise that Stafford never could such as winning the NFC North for the first time in three decades. Still, as much as Goff has satisfied Detroit, Stafford gave the Rams the night of their life bringing them the Super Bowl Trophy that Goff never could.
Ignore the sportsmanship diatribe in the press conferences leading up to this one. Both these guys have something to prove and both will be looking to put on a show in this awkward AF reunion. Stafford will be looking to display the caliber of play that made him the home team’s top pick in 2009 and further demonstrate what could have been with a better supporting cast. Goff will be looking to show McVay he was wrong to give up on him and that they still could have won it all together if they’d just stayed the course. Campbell will be looking to show Stafford how different things could have been under his leadership and that he never had to leave to be successful. In the end, both these squads have flourished despite the stir this move created. But only one is going to move onto the divisional round while the other takes a very personal loss and an agonizing blow to their ego.
Who wins:
As feel good as the Lions’ story has been this year, this one just feels like the jocks are going to come in and rain on Detroit’s parade all over again. Sam LaPorta, who’s been a revelation, fucked up his knee and the Rams finished the year as one of the hottest teams in Football. Couple that with LA’s postseason success (7-3 with two Super Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl Championship under McVay) and Detroit making their first foray in the playoffs behind Goff and Dan Campbell, and it seems more likely that the Rams bite off the Lions’ kneecaps while Stafford rips Detroit’s heart out one more time.

Browns place QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson on injured reserve
The Cleveland Browns have had a plethora of injuries throughout 2023. Quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Nick Chubb suffered season-ending injuries, which has been a devastating blow to the team’s offense. Now, the Browns have suffered another season-ending injury at quarterback.
The team is placing quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson on injured reserve for the rest of the season due to a hip injury he suffered in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. Thompson-Robinson came into the game for Joe Flacco after the team took a massive lead in the second half, but exited the contest after suffering the injury.
This is not the first injury the quarterback has dealt with this season. He suffered a head injury back in week 12 in the loss to the Denver Broncos. P.J. Walker will be signed to the active roster from the practice squad to backup Flacco.
Thompson-Robinson played in eight games for Cleveland this season (three starts) before the team brought in Flacco, who has solidified himself as the starter. Thompson-Robinson has 440 passing yards, a touchdown and four interceptions. He has not put up impressive stats but has won four out of five games he has played in this season.
The Browns are 10-5 and in second place in the highly competitive AFC North. They will host the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football this week, then will finish the regular season off against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cleveland has the top wild-card spot in the AFC and will solidify a playoff birth with a win this Thursday. The team is in good shape to make a good playoff push, but if Flacco were to go down with an injury, their chances of winning in the playoffs would be very slim.

[ad_1] NFL Nation, ESPNNov 5, 2023, 11:46 PM ETThe Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off Week 9 of the NFL season on Thursday night with a comeback win over the Tennessee Titans. On Sunday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins played the first-ever regular-season game in Frankfurt, Germany, with the Chiefs jumping out to a 21-point lead and hanging on to win by seven.Later, quarterback Joshua Dobbs made his Vikings debut after rookie Jaren Hall was ruled out early, Ravens RB Gus Edwards and Texans QB C.J. Stroud powered their teams to wins and Deshaun Watson returned as the Browns' defense posted a shutout. On Sunday evening, interim coach Antonio Pierce led the Raiders to a blowout win over the Giants, and Jalen Hurts and the Eagles held off the Cowboys to move to 8-1 on the season. In the final game Sunday, Joe Burrow led the Bengals over the Bills as Cincinnati is beginning to build momentum. Our NFL Nation reporters reacted to all the action, answering lingering questions coming out of each game and picking out who -- or what -- is rising and falling for every team. Let's get to it.Jump to a matchup:TEN-PIT | MIA-KC | MIN-ATL | ARI-CLELAR-GB | WSH-NE | CHI-NO | SEA-BALTB-HOU | IND-CAR | NYG-LV | DAL-PHI | BUF-CINSundayBengalsDoes Joe Burrow belong in the MVP conversation? It may seem early, but the answer is a resounding yes. Now that he's back to full strength following his right calf injury, Burrow has steered the offense to two quality performances and helped the Bengals beat two division winners in back-to-back weeks (San Francisco and Buffalo). Burrow was 31-of-44 for 348 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills. Burrow and the Bengals have now won four straight and are building momentum as they enter the back half of the regular season. If the success continues, he'll continue to garner MVP buzz.Stock up after the win: Bengals tight ends. After being criticized for a lack of production this season, Irv Smith Jr., Drew Sample and Tanner Hudson combined for 10 catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns.Stock down after the win: Joe Mixon. After a great week in San Francisco, Mixon gained 28 yards on his first 10 carries and had minus-25 rush yards over expectation, per NFL Next Gen Stats. He finished with 37 yards on 14 carries and a TD. -- Ben BabyNext game: vs. Texans (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)BillsWhat's wrong with the Bills' offense? The Bills don't seem to have an answer. While getting off to a hot start wasn't the issue vs. the Bengals -- the Bills averaged 12.1 yards per play on the first drive that ended in a touchdown -- that quickly fizzled with four straight drives that lasted five plays or fewer. The Bills tried to establish the run game, but that was quickly abandoned with James Cook averaging 3.3 yards on six carries. While quarterback Josh Allen is dealing with an injured right shoulder, this is an offense that doesn't have answers and isn't able to get into rhythm consistently.Stock up after the loss: Dalton Kincaid. While his fourth-quarter fumble as he was flipped in the air ended a big drive, Kincaid continues to flash and show why the Bills traded up to select him in the first round. He had 10 receptions for 81 yards on 11 targets, becoming the first rookie tight end with 10 or more receptions in a game since Jace Amaro in 2014. Kincaid has 23 receptions the past three games, tied for the most in NFL history by a rookie tight end in a three-game span.Stock down after the loss: Defensive backfield. After leading the lead in takeaways from Weeks 1-4 with 11, the Bills now have three since Week 5 and zero in the last two games, including against the Bengals. And while the Bills have a variety of injuries at linebacker and in the secondary, including starting corner Christian Benford not playing in the second half due to a right hamstring injury, being able to take the ball away was key to the defensive success early in the year. -- Alaina GetzenbergNext game: vs. Broncos (Monday, Nov. 13, 8:15 p.m. ET)EaglesDo the Eagles have a legitimate challenger in the NFC? The Eagles (8-1) head into their bye with breathing room over the Cowboys (5-3) in the NFC East, and to this point, look like the class of the conference, with Detroit, San Francisco and Dallas bunched in a tier right below them. It's no time to get comfortable -- their next five games are against the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, Cowboys (in Dallas) and Seahawks -- but if they can get through that gauntlet with minimum damage, they'll be in good position to secure the NFC's top seed.Editor's Picks2 RelatedStock up after the win: The QB Jalen Hurts to WRs DeVonta Smith/A.J. Brown connection. Over the past two weeks, Hurts is 24-of-25 for 343 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions when targeting Brown and Smith. Hurts threw a touchdown to each receiver Sunday.Stock down after the win: S Kevin Byard. He gave up a team-high 71 yards on three catches when targeted, per NFL Next Gen Stats, and committed a personal foul in the fourth quarter when Dallas was in the red zone that could have proved costly. -- Tim McManusNext game: at Chiefs (Monday, Nov. 20, 8:15 p.m. ET)CowboysShould the Cowboys be considered a viable threat in the NFC? The loss puts the Cowboys 2.5 games back in the division, but only two teams have more wins than Dallas (Philadelphia and Detroit), and they play four of their next five games at AT&T Stadium where they have won 11 straight games. The loss has minimized the Cowboys' margin for error, and they will need Philadelphia to help them in the final nine games in order to compete for the division title. It might be a wild card-only path now.Stock up after the loss: K Brandon Aubrey. The kicker set an NFL record with his 19th consecutive made field goal to open his career, a 51-yarder late in the second quarter. And to think Aubrey missed his first kick of his career, an extra point against the Giants. He's been perfect since.Stock down after the loss: The Cowboys' "elite" defense. The Cowboys want to believe they have one of the best defenses in the NFL, but in the second half, the Eagles had touchdown drives of 60 and 87 yards, and the defense committed three penalties that saw Philadelphia take control of the game. -- Todd ArcherNext game: vs. Giants (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET)RaidersWas this a one-off performance, or is this sustainable? No doubt the Raiders rode the emotional wave created by this week's firings of general manager Dave Ziegler, coach Josh McDaniels and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi. The key, then, for interim coach Antonio Pierce is to harness that fire -- without letting it burn out or burn them -- going forward, especially with another national television game coming up against the Jets on Sunday night. Quality offensive playcalling, proper game management, a return of running back Josh Jacobs to his All-Pro form (he rushed for a season-high 98 yards on 26 carries with two TDs) and a stingy defense are the keys to making it sustainable.Stock up after the win: QB Aidan O'Connell. The rookie made his regular-season home debut and was more than up to the task. He didn't have to win the game by himself; he just had to play error-free. In completing 16 of 25 passes for 209 yards without an interception, the fourth-round draft pick, who was named by Pierce as the QB going forward, was confident, comfortable and in control.Stock down after the win: The run defense. Yeah, we're picking nits here in a game dominated by the Raiders in all three phases. But Giants running back Saquon Barkley gashing the Raiders' base nickel defense to the tune of 90 yards on 16 carries could provide a blueprint for run-heavy teams going forward, as the Giants rushed for 121 yards as a team. -- Paul GutierrezNext game: vs. Jets (Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET)GiantsHow bad can this get for the Giants? The Giants are now 2-7 after getting blown out by a Raiders team with an interim coach and a rookie quarterback. New York's quarterback, Daniel Jones, also appears to be out long-term (knee injury). It's likely only going to get worse from here. What that means is this team could be headed for a really high draft pick, and a quarterback has to be in the mix, especially if Jones' injury is serious. We're going to find out a lot about coach Brian Daboll, and if he's capable of keeping this team from completely falling apart in the second half of this season.Stock up after the loss: The offensive line. We always point out when the Giants' offensive line is a liability. With Andrew Thomas back at left tackle, Justin Pugh now at left guard and Ben Bredeson at right guard, this is the best version of the line they've had this season. No wonder Barkley averaged 5.6 yards per carry Sunday.Stock down after the loss: CB Deonte Banks. He was having a solid rookie season ... until Sunday. The first-rounder was picked apart in the first half, allowing big plays to Raiders receivers Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker. Overall, he allowed three receptions on five targets for 83 yards as the nearest defender in the first half alone, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. -- Jordan RaananNext game: at Cowboys (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET)play0:31Dolphins' mishandled snap seals win for ChiefsTua Tagovailoa has trouble with the snap on fourth down, giving the Chiefs the win in Germany.ColtsWas this a turning point for the Indianapolis defense? The Colts have been on a particularly disconcerting defensive streak, giving up point totals of 37, 39 and 38 in their three previous games -- all losses. The New Orleans Saints compiled a stunning 511 yards in Week 8, defeating the Colts 38-27. On Sunday, Indianapolis showed moments of dominance in their pass rush and limited the Carolina Panthers' receivers -- two areas they had grossly underperformed in recent weeks. They forced Carolina QB Bryce Young into three interceptions and harassed him throughout. But whether a commanding performance against one of the NFL's worst offenses is a sign of a turnaround remains to be seen.Best of NFL Nation• Jets' playoff hopes fueled by '22 rookies• Why Chargers traded J.C. He had a franchise-record two pick-sixes, returning interceptions 49 and 66 yards for scores. Moore had just one such touchdown in his career before Sunday, but the 2021 Pro Bowl selection made history in Charlotte.Stock down after the win: OT Blake Freeland. He had some rough moments against Carolina's star edge rusher Brian Burns. Freeland committed two false starts with Burns lined up across from him, undoubtedly feeling the pressure of Burns' fast get off. -- Stephen HolderNext game: vs. Patriots (Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET in Germany)PanthersDid the Panthers make the right move trading to No. 1 with the Chicago Bears, up next in a Thursday night game, for QB Bryce Young? It's still too early to make that case -- understanding the dreadful first-season history of quarterbacks taken No. 1 -- but Sunday's performance by Young was a bad look for him and the organization. His two interceptions returned for touchdowns, and three overall were a huge reason for the loss, Carolina's seventh in eight games. He had only 35 yards passing at halftime and continued to dink and dunk his way to mediocrity that has defined this offense. Obviously, the protection and lack of talent around Young is a factor, but opponents now have 45 points scored off turnovers against him.Stock up after the loss: RB Miles Sanders. He lost his starting job to Chuba Hubbard a few weeks ago, but he started a case to get it back in the second half with four solid gains in a six-play stretch to help the Panthers score a touchdown. He finished with six rushes for 39 yards and three catches for 22 yards.Stock down after the loss: OC Thomas Brown. He got a game ball last week after calling his first game, a 15-13 victory. But in two games with Brown calling plays, Carolina has only two touchdowns. While you can't blame Brown for poor decision-making, turnovers and penalties, Sunday's effort was particularly lackadaisical against a Colts defense that had given up an average of 38 points the past three games. -- David NewtonNext game: at Bears (Thursday, 8:15 p.m. ET)TexansHas the passing offense snapped out of its funk? The Texans' offense averaged 24 points (15th) and 368.5 yards per game through the first four weeks. In the past three games, the offense averaged 17.3 points and 279.7 yards. On Sunday against the Buccaneers, quarterback C.J. Stroud produced his best game as a pro. Stroud threw for 470 yards with five touchdowns for a 147 passer rating. If Stroud can continue this performance, the playoffs are possible.Stock up after the win: Stroud. He is the sixth player in NFL history to record at least 450 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and zero interceptions in a game, and his 470 passing yards are the most for a rookie in a single game.Stock down after the win: RB Devin Singletary. He had 13 carries for 26 yards, while the Texans as a whole finished with 53 yards, their second-lowest total of the season. -- DJ Bien-AimeNext game: at Bengals (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)BuccaneersIs this the way the rest of the season goes? The Bucs' offense finally managed to put up 30 points for the first time this season, but the defense blew a 20-10 lead in the second half and then a late lead with 10 seconds left as Tampa Bay lost its fourth straight game. Even with Vita Vea back and the defense generating three sacks, the Bucs weren't affecting quarterback C.J. Stroud, defenders were getting beaten and there were too many missed tackles.Stock up after the loss: TE Cade Otton. He hauled in a 14-yard grab over the middle with 49 seconds to go -- his second touchdown of the game -- as the Bucs took a 37-33 lead, although it would be short-lived.Stock down after the loss: First-down defense. They tried something new with their third-down defense Sunday by inserting Dee Delaney for Ryan Neal, but four of Stroud's five touchdown passes (14-, 75-, 29- and the 15-yard game winner) came on first down against the Buccaneers. -- Jenna LaineNext game: vs. Titans (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)VikingsHow were the Vikings even competitive today? By the end of the first quarter, the Vikings were down to their No. 4 quarterback in Joshua Dobbs. They were playing without two of their top three receivers, Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn. Running back Cam Akers left because of an ankle injury, and left tackle Christian Darrisaw was inactive because of a groin injury. To have scored 31 points and have a fourth-quarter comeback in that scenario is one of the most impressive moments in coach Kevin O'Connell's tenure. Dobbs accounted for three touchdowns and the Vikings' defense forced consecutive turnovers in the third quarter that accounted for 10 points.Stock up after the win: QB Dobbs. He started last Sunday for the Cardinals, was traded Tuesday to the Vikings, participated in his first full practice Thursday and managed to keep the Vikings within striking distance Sunday. He is the first player in Vikings history to throw for and score a touchdown in his debut with the team. Entering the game, Dobbs was 1-9 in his career as a starter.Stock down after the win: The running game. We've been here before, but never has the Vikings' running game been more sorely missed than Sunday. With three quarterbacks injured, Vikings running backs Alexander Mattison and Cam Akers combined for 69 yards on 23 carries. Fortunately for the Vikings, Dobbs managed 66 rushing yards on his own. -- Kevin SeifertNext game: vs. Saints (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)FalconsShould the Falcons stick with Taylor Heinicke next week? Heinicke, the veteran quarterback who made his first Falcons start Sunday, did enough to earn a second start next week against Arizona. He ran the offense well, although there were fits and starts, and he threw a bad interception in the third quarter. But Heinicke -- who completed 21 of 38 passes (55.3%) for 268 yards with a touchdown -- provided stability and appeared to get more comfortable as the game went along.Stock up after the loss: TE Jonnu Smith. His continued production hit another level Sunday when he took a screen pass 60 yards -- the longest play from scrimmage for Atlanta this season -- and had five catches for 100 yards, his first 100-yard day.Stock down after the loss: CB Mike Hughes. A week ago, Hughes' decisions as a punt returner caused Atlanta massive field position issues and he lost his job. On Sunday, when forced into the game after an injury to Dee Alford, Hughes appeared to lose Brandon Powell in coverage on what ended up being Minnesota's game-winning touchdown. -- Michael RothsteinNext game: at Cardinals (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET)play0:25Cowboys come up short on potential winning driveDak Prescott and the Cowboys are unable to pull off the comeback as CeeDee Lamb is tackled before the end zone on third-and-26.CommandersHave the Commanders really found their quarterback? Washington coach Ron Rivera said they have, and Sam Howell has provided plenty of signs lately to believe him. Howell threw for 325 yards and a touchdown one week after 397 yards and four TDs against the Eagles. He made plays with his legs, both running and throwing. Howell made a bad decision on a late first-half throw that was intercepted. But his poise and playmaking ability are why the Commanders are sold on him.Stock up after the win: The offensive line. The group functions better with center Tyler Larsen; it handled New England's blitzes and stunts, and the running backs powered their way to a combined 97 yards rushing.Stock down after the win: The linebackers. They allowed one touchdown pass in coverage and a botched run blitz led to a big hole and Rhamondre Stevenson's 64-yard touchdown. -- John KeimNext game: at Seahawks (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET)PatriotsWhat does a second straight loss with a positive turnover differential mean? With two takeaways and one giveaway, the Patriots cleaned up an area that has been giving them trouble. But their inability to drive the field on offense and score points showed up once again. Major special teams miscues in critical situations and defending against the big play were also issues Sunday. At 2-7 and with a game against the Colts in Germany next Sunday, the Patriots enter the second half of the season essentially playing for pride.Stock up after the loss: RB Rhamondre Stevenson. His 64-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was a career high and the team's longest rushing TD since Damien Harris had a 64-yarder on Dec. 6, 2021, against the Bills.Stock down after the loss: The defensive backs. Commanders QB Sam Howell threw for 325 yards and it seemed like it could have been more. The pass rush wasn't consistent, but the Commanders receivers created separation on a regular basis -- especially on big plays down the field -- and tackling by defensive backs was shaky for extended stretches. -- Mike ReissNext game: vs. Colts (Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET in Germany)play0:23Josh Dobbs finds Brandon Powell for a TD with 22 seconds remainingThe Vikings take the lead with 22 seconds left as Josh Dobbs hits Brandon Powell for a touchdown.RavensWhy are the Ravens the most dominant defense in the NFL? The Ravens lead the NFL in fewest points allowed (13.8 per game), Baltimore's best mark in that category in the first nine weeks of a season since its historic 2000 defense. Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald has Baltimore attacking from all angles. Baltimore finished with more sacks (four) than points given up, and defensive tackle Justin Madubuike now has 7.5 sacks, setting a team record with at least a half-sack in six straight games. Safety Geno Stone made his NFL-leading sixth interception.Stock up after the win: RB Gus Edwards. In scoring two touchdowns, Edwards continues to be a touchdown machine, tying a Ravens record with six touchdowns in his last three games.Stock down after the win: LT Ronnie Stanley. Struggling against Seahawks outside linebacker Boye Mafe, Stanley missed a block on him in the second quarter, which led to a strip-sack of Lamar Jackson (his ninth fumble of the season). -- Jamison HensleyNext game: vs. Browns (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)SeahawksWhat's wrong with Geno Smith? In what may have been his worst game since he became the Seattle Seahawks' starter last season, Smith completed fewer than 50% of his passes (13 of 28) and threw another interception, his sixth pick in the past four games, compared to four touchdowns in that span. He also lost a fumble, had another errant pass that was nearly picked and finished with only 157 passing yards. The Baltimore Ravens may have the best defense in the NFL, and Smith's O-line did him no favors, but his play of late has to be a concern. It isn't time to turn to Drew Lock, but Smith has to play better or that will soon become a move that Pete Carroll would have to strongly consider.Stock up after the loss: LB Boye Mafe. Mafe's strip-sack was one of the few bright moments for a Seahawks defense that couldn't stop any facet of Baltimore's offense. He now has at least a full sack in six straight games, tying Michael Sinclair's franchise record. Mafe also recovered the fumble, but Smith and Seattle's offense couldn't do anything with it.Stock down after the loss: The O-line. It has fared remarkably well this season under tough circumstances, with several injuries forcing different combinations of starters nearly every week. But it got manhandled by Baltimore, which sacked Smith four times -- three coming via standard four-man rushes -- and pressured him into several hurried throws. Charles Cross and Jason Peters were flagged for false starts, while Evan Brown was penalized for a hold. -- Brady HendersonNext game: vs. Commanders (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET)play0:21Sam Howell converts ridiculous third-and-23 with legsSam Howell runs through the Patriots' defense for 23 yards and a first down.PackersDid the Packers show enough on offense to turn this into a winning streak? It might be a reach, but there are a few reasons to be optimistic: They finally got Christian Watson the ball on a deep route with a 37-yard catch in the fourth quarter (although he got banged up on the play) after Jordan Love badly underthrew him, and Love was a little better on deeper throws (6-of-8 on passes with 10-plus air yards after entering the game with a league-worst 36% rate on such throws). Then, rookie tight end Luke Musgrave, who was supposed to be a big part of this offense, caught his first NFL touchdown. Oh, they also rushed for a whopping 184 yards. It was enough to end a four-game losing streak, but let's not talk about a winning streak yet with the Steelers, Chargers, Lions and Chiefs coming in their next four games. None of them have Brett Rypien playing quarterback.Stock up after the win: WR Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers need more playmakers, and perhaps the rookie (four catches for 49 yards) has some potential as long as he doesn't have another fumble like he did in the third quarter, when the ball popped free while he was trying to reach out for extra yards.Stock down after the win: G Jon Runyan. He was flagged twice for offsides on fourth-and-1 plays in the first half (although one was incorrectly called on Yosh Nijman), for lining up with his head past the football on what would've been successful conversions. -- Rob DemovskyNext game: at Steelers (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)RamsWill be the Rams be competitive if quarterback Matthew Stafford misses more time? It has been only two games (and one start) but it hasn't been pretty for backup quarterback Brett Rypien. In Sunday's loss to the Packers, he completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards and an interception. Rypien went three straight drives without a completion in the first half, and the Rams' offense was held under 100 yards in each half (91 in the first, 96 in the second). According to ESPN Stats & Information, it was the 11th and 12th times the Rams have been held under 100 yards in a half since 2022, the second most in the NFL in that span. The good news for the Rams? They have a bye in Week 10 before they host the Seahawks in Week 11, giving Stafford more time to recover from a UCL sprain in his right thumb.Stock up after the loss: OLB Byron Young. The rookie third-round pick had two sacks Sunday, the first multisack game of his young career.Stock down after the loss: The offense. Rams coach Sean McVay has been preaching complementary football for weeks, but it wasn't executed Sunday. The Rams opened the second half with two takeaways and did not score a point off either turnover. -- Sarah BarshopNext game: vs. Seahawks (Sunday, Nov. 19, 4:25 p.m. ET)BrownsWith Deshaun Watson back, can Cleveland make a run? After essentially missing the past four games with a rotator cuff strain in his throwing shoulder, Watson finally returned. The passing game mostly sputtered, but Watson saved his best throw for the final quarter: a 49-yard strike to Amari Cooper in stride. Watson's return comes in time for a critical two-game stretch against AFC North foes Baltimore and Pittsburgh. If the Browns can somehow sweep both, they could take command of the division. Watson had plenty of rust to shake off, but he gives the Browns the upside to make such a run.Stock up after the win: The defense. After giving up the game-winning touchdown to Seattle last week, the Browns responded with an overpowering outing, pitching their first shutout since 2007.Stock down after the win: Offensive tackle. The Browns lost left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. to what appears to be a serious right knee injury. -- Jake TrotterNext game: at Ravens (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)CardinalsWhen is Kyler Murray coming back? The Cardinals' quarterback position is in a state of uncertainty. Rookie Clayton Tune struggled, but he isn't to blame. He made his first NFL start in Cleveland and was shut out. With Murray's window to be activated to the 53-man roster closing Wednesday, it looks like next week could be the week he's back. There's always the possibility that Murray is activated but doesn't play for another week or two, but with three straight winnable games that happen to all be indoors, the stars could be aligning.Stock up after the loss: The defensive front seven. This unit, especially the defensive line, did everything it could to keep the Cardinals in the game, holding the Browns to 113 yards rushing, far below their 148.6-yard average coming into Week 9.Stock down after the loss: The offensive line. It struggled to open holes for the run game, with eight of the Cardinals' ball carriers getting hit at or behind the line of scrimmage. Tune was also sacked seven times. -- Josh WeinfussNext game: vs. Falcons (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET)play0:27OBJ scores 1st Ravens TD on his birthdayOdell Beckham Jr. dances in the fourth quarter after scoring his first touchdown as a Raven.SaintsCan the Saints' defense keep up this turnover streak? The defense has forced a turnover in every game this season, and it was especially needed against the Bears with both the run defense and offense struggling. Cornerback Paulson Adebo had two interceptions, a forced fumble and recovery, safety Marcus Maye had a pick and linebacker Demario Davis had a fourth-quarter sack/fumble.Stock up after the win: CB Adebo. He was the star of the show against the Bears with first- and fourth-quarter interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. And the Saints needed every one of his impact plays.Stock down after the win: The run defense. The Saints allowed 156 net rushing yards against the Bears (after giving up 164 to the Colts) and struggled to contain quarterback Tyson Bagent, who scrambled at will. -- Katherine TerrellNext game: at Vikings (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)BearsCan the Bears win with Tyson Bagent at QB? Starting quarterback Justin Fields began throwing at practice 19 days after dislocating his right thumb, and the Bears say there's a possibility he can play against the Carolina Panthers for their Thursday night game in Week 10, but with the short turnaround, Bagent may start again. The rookie QB had good moments (two touchdown throws to TE Cole Kmet, along with 70 yards rushing) and some really bad ones (two of his three interceptions were the result of throwing behind his intended receivers), and he's now 1-2 as a starter.Stock up after the loss: OC Luke Getsy. Getsy's game plan kept his rookie quarterback on schedule and looking efficient, and it gave the Bears a chance -- despite Bagent's four turnovers -- with a healthy balance of run and pass calls. The Bears' 156 rushing yards marked the second most the Saints gave up this season.Stock down after the loss: CB Tyrique Stevenson. The first nine games of the season have been boom-or-bust for the rookie, who appeared to be benched late in the third quarter. Stevenson was the nearest defender on four receptions, including a touchdown, against the Saints and entered Week 9 having allowed 42 receptions on 62 targets (69%), six touchdowns and zero interceptions. -- Courtney CroninNext game: vs. Panthers (Thursday, 8:15 p.m. ET)ChiefsWhat does the Chiefs' victory over the Dolphins mean in the big picture? The Chiefs are 7-2, which guarantees they will be no worse than tied at the end of the day for the best record in the AFC. They also have wins over two of the other top contenders in the Jaguars and Dolphins. Tough games remain, including matchups against the Eagles, Bills and Bengals, so they still don't have much wiggle room.Stock up after the win: CB Trent McDuffie. His strip vs. Tyreek Hill late in the first half resulted in what was eventually the winning TD when Bryan Cook ran the fumble back for a touchdown.Stock down after the win: DT Chris Jones. His roughing penalty after the Chiefs appeared to have stopped Miami on a key third down led to a Dolphins TD. He also didn't have a pressure, though he was double-teamed frequently. -- Adam TeicherNext game: vs. Eagles (Monday, Nov. 20, 8:15 p.m. ET)DolphinsHow much stock should go into the Dolphins' performance against teams with winning records? In their third game against a team with a winning record this season, the Dolphins suffered their third loss. Their offense looked jet-lagged (despite being in Germany since Tuesday) and took far too long to get going. It might've been Miami's best defensive performance of the season, which was critical as it attempted to mount a 21-point comeback. The end result proved the Dolphins can compete against good teams; losing to the Bills, Eagles and Chiefs is far from embarrassing. Miami still has games ahead against the Bills, Ravens and Cowboys to turn the narrative around.Stock up after the loss: The Dolphins' front seven pressured Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes 11 times and had a strip-sack, forcing a turnover for the third straight game.Stock down after the loss: The offensive line. This is mostly from a health standpoint; already playing without starting right guard Rob Hunt, fill-in Robert Jones went down with a knee injury late in the fourth quarter and was carted to the locker room. -- Marcel Louis-JacquesNext game: vs. Raiders (Sunday, Nov. 19, 1 p.m. ET)play0:22Browns sack Clayton Tune for seventh timeThe Browns' defense comes up big again as it sacks Clayton Tune for the seventh time.ThursdaySteelersIs winning this way sustainable? The Steelers have gotten comfortable playing in uncomfortable moments. For the fourth time this season, the Steelers eked out a win despite trailing after three quarters, this time thanks to a game-saving interception by inside linebacker Kwon Alexander. The offense was also outgained 340-326, making them the only team in the NFL that still hasn't outgained an opponent this season. And according to the Elias Sports Bureau and ESPN Stats & Info, the Steelers are the 34th team in NFL history to be outgained in their first eight games, and they're the only one out of that group to have a winning record in that stretch. Of those 33 other teams, only one ended the season with a winning record: the 2022 Steelers. Impactful Additions Shaping the AFC South Landscape
Tumblr media
As the new NFL season approaches, the AFC South sees a wave of changes that promise to redefine the division's dynamics. With the Titans' reign being challenged and new forces emerging, it's essential to highlight the ten most impactful additions that will shape the fate of each team by the end of 2023. 1. Texans HC DeMeco Ryans DeMeco Ryans' arrival as the Texans' head coach brings renewed hope to a franchise plagued by years of disappointment. Having played for the team from 2006 to 2011, Ryans' return to Houston resonates deeply with the city, elevating expectations for the future. With a history of leading strong defensive units, his expertise could be the key to transforming the Texans' struggling run defense. 2. Colts HC Shane Steichen Following a tumultuous 2022 season, the Colts seek stability with Shane Steichen as their head coach. Renowned for his offensive acumen, Steichen's task includes nurturing the development of quarterback Anthony Richardson. Drawing from his success in developing past talents like Jalen Hurts and Philip Rivers, Steichen's impact on the Colts' offense will be closely watched. 3. Texans QB C.J. Stroud The Texans' fortunes at quarterback take a hopeful turn with C.J. Stroud, the second overall pick. As Houston's potential long-term solution, Stroud's success could be instrumental in lifting the team from its prolonged rebuild, especially after losing Deshaun Watson. Read the full article

After an explosion of wideout scores last week this week wasn’t so ambitious. We actually had our lowest output of the season with only five players having 100+ yards receiving. This weeks wideout of the week is no other than the man leading the NFL with 1500 yards receiving Justin “The Man” Jefferson. Jefferson had a monstrous day at the office catching 11 passes for 223 yards. He didn’t score but what he did Sunday was nothing short of amazing. Jefferson is faster than I originally thought and his route running has improved tremendously over the season. Justin Jefferson needs to average 125 yards to break 2000 in a season and wideout fanatics like myself are on the edge of our seats hoping the young man breaks the record.
This is my first time hearing this name all season. And I’m sure when your record is 1-11-1 I for damn sure wouldn’t not be paying attention to the losers that the Houston Texans are. Despite all that Chris Moore had a game worthy of being mentioned this week. The wideout showed toughness and playmaking ability all afternoon while catching a bunch of flat routes. He even had a 1-hand highlight catch along the right sideline against the Dallas Cowboys and finished with a deep post late in the game to push him over 100 yards receiving. Moore finished the day with 10 catches for 124 yards and zero touchdowns.
Ja’Marr “Chase Your Dreams” was back in action. Chase caught 10 passes for 119 yards and 1 touchdown. On that lone score Chase got a great inside release and when he made his post step the ball was right in his lap for the score. I noticed he caught a lot of out-routes from the slot and had a really nice back shoulder catch late in the game. The Cincinnati Bengals are trending upwards and having Chase back in the line-up will give them another chance to return to the Super Bowl.
These last two names haven’t been called all year. Mike Williams of the San Diego Chargers had his first 100-yard game of the season. Williams caught 6 passes for 116 yards with 1 score. Justin Herbert looked like the best quarterback in the NFL with some of the passes he completed to his wideouts. Hopefully Williams and Keenan Allen can stay healthy because with those two plus Josh Palmer the Chargers are damn near unstoppable.
Donovan Peoples-Jones had a really good game. Jones caught 8 passes for 114 yards with zero touchdowns. I like the physicality Jones played with. He took some big hits on a few of his dig routes. I liked the way he didn’t back down and stayed playing strong throughout. I know Cleveland is out of the playoff hunt but Deshaun Watson is back and I believe they can win three out their final four games.
With 4 weeks in the season remaining I’m exuberant to see if the wideout record will be broken by either Justin Jefferson or Tyreek Hill or both. Either way the wideouts will bring some excitement to end out the season. Wideouts Let’s Go and Finish Strong!

Expect a slugfest in this AFC North matchup
Expect a slugfest in this AFC North matchup
With college football on hiatus until the bowl games kick off, it’s an opportunity to target the NFL Week 14 slate. Here’s one wager option to back. Sticking to just football talk, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was rusty last week against the lowly 1-10-1 Texans. Watson went 12-of-22 for zero touchdowns and one interception. Cleveland still managed to win 27-14 but not from offensive…

Texans Owner’s Wife’s Treatment Of Deshaun Watson Goes Viral (Video)
Texans Owner’s Wife’s Treatment Of Deshaun Watson Goes Viral (Video)
The Houston Texans fell to the Cleveland Browns this past weekend. With the loss, they are now 1-10-1 on the year. Adding insult to injury was that this marked the first game back for former Houston quarterback, Deshaun Watson. Although he had trouble shaking off 700 days worth of rust and did little of note in the outing, his mere presence created something of an uncomfortable dynamic. One ESPN…

Questions remain as Deshaun Watson debuts in Browns-Texans
Questions remain as Deshaun Watson debuts in Browns-Texans
HOUSTON — At 10:08 am Houston time, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson walked onto the NRG Stadium field to warm up for his first regular-season game in exactly 700 days. Within minutes, the gates opened and a smattering of Watson’s No. 4 jerseys, in Cleveland and Houston colors, dotted the stands around him. One of those blue No. 4 Texans jerseys, however, had been repurposed. Stewart…
