Sam Darnold and Vikings win seventh straight, clinched playoff spot by embarrassing the Bears 30-12

Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings have earned a playoff spot by winning their seventh straight game, while Chicago has lost eight consecutive games.

Minnesota beats the Bears 30-12 as they sweep Chicago for the first time since 2021, 

The Vikings scored quickly on their first drive, as Will Reichard kicked a 52-yard field goal, taking advantage of the Bears turning the ball over on downs. On the next drive, Darnold found Justin Jefferson in the endzone for 7 yards to take a quick 10-0 lead. They ended the half with a 13-0 lead.

The Bears had the opportunity in the third quarter to score their first touchdown of the game, with D'Andre Swift running it in from the one-yard line, but Doug Kramer failed to report as eligible, and the touchdown was taken off the board. Chicago then had to settle for a 29-yard field goal.

Chicago went 1-13 on third down and 1-3 on fourth downs.

Aaron Jones scored late in the third quarter, giving the Vikings a 20-3 lead. He carried the ball 18 times for 86 yards and caught 2 passes for 20 yards. Sam Darnold completed 24 of his 40 passes for 231 yards, throwing one touchdown and an interception.  

Chicago struggled, Caleb Williams completed 18 of 31 passes for 191 yards,  lost a fumble in the 1st quarter, and a touchdown, D'Andre Swift ran for 79 yards on 19 carries, while DJ Moore caught 8 passes for 46 yards. 

The Bears' only touchdown came off a blocked punt by Dominique Robinson with 6:17 left in the game. Caleb Williams then found Keenan Allen in the endzone for 16 yards with 5:24 remaining in the game. 

Minnesota continues its playoff search as it flies to the northwest to play the Seattle Seahawks, while the Chicago Bears continue their hunt in the basement of the NFC North as they host the high-powered Detroit Lions.
