the past few days i had been toying with the idea of writing wanshi from p.unishing g.ray r.aven. ( he's a war medic, and a sniper. yes. you heard right. ) with him gaining his new frame, i feel like he's someone i want to explore in terms of mentality. him loving & cherishing life, wanting to cure and heal people but in the dystopian setting he's in, he cannot save people fast enough with his hands as healer and a medic. ( not to mention limited resources and him being forced to prioritize some lives more than others and it TORE him apart. ) him taking it upon himself to fight, to protect instead of simply heal. to make sure he doesn't watch the precious lives being wasted away when he could have. the sacrifices and pain he witnessed, the blood he has on his hands, the patients he failed to save and lost ... i don't know ... he just speaks to me SO MUCH in this newest update and i find myself wanting to take him up. the problem is that no one knows about p.unishing g.ray r.aven setting / universe. maybe i could make a wuwa verse for him since they're both developed by kurogame & are similar in terms of being post-apocalyptic setting ? i'll sit on it a bit more.

cool epic guide on how to unlock Barry in DTM for free without needing other people to download the game!!!!

exactly what it says on the tin, a little step-by-step guide on how to unlock the goober himself without having to harass five friends (and then lose five friends) to download the game!!!

what you need:

two mobile devices that can run DTM (both can be real phones or one or both of them can be emulated; either will work as they function exactly the same). one of them will be your main device that you want to unlock Barry on, while the other will function as your "friend"'s device.

at least five separate gmail addresses that do not have any Google Play Games data related to DTM (protip: you can just keep making as many new gmail addresses on your main mobile device through the Google app as you need without it eventually asking for your phone number)

(oh and make sure you're logged onto your Google Play Games account on your main device before you do this. also: this guide only works with Android devices. i don't have an ios device to test this out with im sorry apple users)

step one: open your "friend" device and create a new Google Play Games account using one of the five gmail accounts you made before doing the process. make sure that you set it so that account can be searched via its associated email (meatball menu -> settings -> "Let others find your profile using your email address" under Profile and Privacy). on your main device, open the Google Play Games app, tap on your profile, search up the email address of the friend GPG account (located under your tag) and send that account a friend request.

step two: on your main device, tap on Barry in the character selection menu, tap the "OR GET IT FOR FREE" button on the purchase popup, tap the "INVITE NOW" button on the invite popup, then tap the "INVITE WITH EMAIL" button on that popup. it should directly open to gmail for you to send a referral link to your "friend" account (if it doesn't, the "MORE" button should let you open gmail there). send that email and hope it finds your "friend" well.

step three (very important): on your "friend" device, open up gmail and install the game directly using that link. it won't work if you install the game from google play without clicking that link. wait for it to install and make sure to sign in with your GPG account before doing anything in the app. if all is well and you're signed in, play through the prologue in its entirety.

step four: if this works correctly, you should be able to open DTM on your main device and see that you have received the King's Goon reward.

step five (also very important): on your "friend" device, exit out of DTM and go into the GPG app, go to your profile settings and delete all of your data associated with Dan The Man, then uninstall it. you can delete your data from GPG's settings. the reason this is necessary is to prevent any data fuckery with the game thinking you've already done the prologue even if you're signed in on another account, as that data is also stored locally on your device. delete the game and its data, and then log out of that GPG account as it will not be needed from now on. you can also delete that account too if you want to, but it's not super necessary.

step six: go all the way back to step one and create a new Google Play Games account, this time using another email that hasn't been used for this before. repeat this process until you receive Barry Steakfries on your main device. if you mess up, create a new gmail address and delete all your DTM data on the "friend account".

this process is kinda long and tedious, but it works really well and is pretty much the only way i can think of getting Barry for free without needing 5 other people and having to rely on a modded apk that doesn't even work when you install it anyway. this SHOULD be all the steps needed.

also V's scene can't be triggered if youre playing trans!mc. I ran a V only save 3 times to make sure i wasnt crazy and I only get the kiss. I ran a new save cis!mc (for lack of better wording) and got the scene just fine

i'm not able to recreate this bug on my side at all, i'm able to trigger all versions of the scene just fine... last anon said they cleared their history to get it to work so idk if that's what you have to do? it seems to be a problem on itchio's side not updating. and especially for the trans mc those variables aren't even linked so i'm really baffled about that one not triggering for you but the other one did... my only suggestion is to try and refresh again or clear your cache or something 😭 i'm sorry. you can send me a more detailed "report" if you want and tell me what choices you made and i can try and see if there is some weird code happening but like i said i was able to trigger all the scenes myself so it makes me think it's the itchio issue, especially if you're playing on mobile.

edit: someone pointed this out in the replies & i should have mentioned that clearing your cache will wipe other saves you have on itchio so be careful!

I feel like we collectively all moved on from Manjusaka's obsession with Seven a liiiiiiiiiiiittle too fucking fast because what the FUCK was that about my sister in christ what do you mean crush that man was a TEENAGER

No but actually; most of the Shadow Killers - at least the ones I'm about to name - really had an obsession with Seven in one way or another. Also by the way there's a 50/50 shot there's an edit underneath all of this

But a solid amount of them were either thrown off, threatened, or otherwise got themselves involved because of Seven joining the Shadow Killers. Redtooth, evidently, felt a bit threatened, I think. When Redtooth was Seven's age he was being kicked into the mud and being told how pathetic he was, and Seven has never killed a soul and he's suddenly a Shadow Killer. Redtooth claims their fight was him just "hazing the newbie" but he wanted blood the way he broke Seven's sword, and his forced manic laughter and attitude after staring down Green Phoenix really feels like Redtooth's affinity for trying to put on this show of someone to be terrified of, and Seven was someone who nobody ever got a reaction out of.

Green Phoenix took an interest - and intervened between Redtooth and Seven because of his revenge plan. He knew really early on Seven was what could make everything fall into place for him, even if it took about eight years since that day. It's hard to know exactly what he was thinking when he first said to Thirteen to kill Seven and get the blade in season 1, but he's like, ALWAYS planning around Seven.

White Fox I don't think we know enough yet, and Blackbird I think his hatred of Seven that would let him so much as fork over the highest reward for his death stems from the fact he HAS to always see himself as this 'hero in the dark.' Which, not only does Seven kind of challenge that a little bit, because he's far more known for being silent and swift and that, but to Blackbird killing him is the heroic thing, practically, and he'll let his reward be taken away just as all his other rewards for his other actions because he'll only find comfort in being a black bird. He has to kill him and win and be that hero, and that's probably why he switches so fast from "I want him to die painfully at my hands" to "Your death will be quick, I promise you."

but It's not really clear what's the deal with Manjusaka, but she has such an emphasis and presence throughout all of season 3 and she's hardly even there for more than three episodes. She's this looming threat but we don't know why she takes this interest too, and she's also willing to fork over the reward to Shimen. And she tells us directly she's had a sort of twisted interest in Seven since the day she met him, but never why? And it's so much more of an emphasis on her view on Seven than her general sort of attitude she takes on with fights and co-workers, where she INSISTENTLY brings up Seven as a crush it's her turn to kill, but she doesn't even think about it ONCE when it comes to Green Phoenix even though she also comments on a previous interest in him. And we never see them once interact in the past. I mean, the Shadow Killers aren't inherently close or social, but evidently a lot of them have interacted before because most of them have been working together for eight years or more, but we've never seen Manjusaka interact with anybody aside from Shimen and Blackbird briefly before the fights in seasons 3 and 4.

And specifically, she's really prominent in the intro to season 3. She's the one who plays the stringed instrument in the intro - fuuck I know it's not a liuqin I can't remember the name someone told me I'm so exhausted as I write this - and she's got a really close connection to the instrument, which is like the calling card for the most serious and detailed, high stakes battles in season 3 when it comes to the music in the show. Why is she the one who plays this instrument and paints us a picture of this season? She's practically some sort of silent narrator, plucking the strings and letting us watch like she does, but like, why? Why does she watch? What's her reason for this interest in Seven? She's so prominent in the saeson 3 intro and just generally and I can't really tell why. Anyway here's the edit now

The designs are so pretty, it's simple but fun and there are no sexualizing characters just pretty girly pops. Granted it's not perfect but honestly when I heard the people who made BOTW are involved in this game I'm like 😆

If you want an aesthetic healing game that doesn't involve wracking your brain and just chilling this is great. (Although if you're a hardcore gamer who likes games that has a complex fighting mechanic, then I don't think this is for you, even tho yes it does have a battle mechanic it's really simple. But it doesn't hurt to give it a try)
