Terushima week day 1 friends and rivals. I love the idea of Teru purposely choosing to run the same route as Kyoutani. So he can tease him.

All The Reasons - Day 1
@terushimaweek
April 12: Day 1: Friends and Rivals
The great thing about going to the same college as your boyfriends, Yuuji thinks, is that you’ve already got both friends and rivals already built in. And while they don’t exactly have to compete to get positions on the team, there’s plenty of other opportunities for good old fashioned competitive fun. They have a running contest to see which of them can eat their ramen the fastest at their after practice snack stop, which Daichi happens to be winning at the moment. (Kuroo claims it’s because he can’t eat hot foods quickly, and Daichi always teases him about having a delicate cat’s tongue. The playful bickering usually ends when Kuroo offers to prove how else his tongue can be delicate.)
There’s the ‘who can eat the weirdest food combination’ contest, which Kuroo wins by a landslide one day with a bowl of rice, spinach, some kind of leftover gravy, wasabi, pork from some random meal that may have been made a week ago, and frosted flakes. Daichi gives in right then, walking out of the room with his hands raised, and Yuuji only lasts one crunchy bite before he has to follow. Neither of them can look Kuroo in the eye the rest of the day. An extremely childish burping contest was brought to a resounding close after two months of being tied between Yuuji and Kuroo when Daichi accidentally walked in and promptly burped louder and longer then either of them had ever managed.
With that done, they moved on to seeing which of them could stack the most weird stuff in a pile before it fell over, which Kuroo claimed the winner title, and then to seeing which of them could pile stuff on one of the others while they were sleeping without them waking up. Daichi won this one, with an almost alarming number of stuffed cats piled on Kuroo during his afternoon couch nap. Yuuji was the undisputed winner of the handstand contest, managing to hold it with little trouble. Kuroo had fallen over almost immediately, and had proceeded to try and explain that his height wasn’t conducive to handstands. Daichi’d fallen not long after, too busy laughing at Kuroo’s pathetic excuses to keep his form.
Yuuji’s favorite, though, is the one where they see who they can get to blush the most. Kuroo usually loses that one, because while most people think he’s some sort of smooth sex god, the truth is pretty much the opposite. It’s almost cruelly easy for Daichi and Yuuji to drop a few honeyed words and a glance or two Kuroo’s way, painting his skin pink and then bright red the more they compliment him. They abandon the usual rules of ‘every man for himself’ just to turn Kuroo into a whimpering, blushing mess, and it’s almost the best use of teamwork Yuuji’s ever been involved in.
The best thing, though, is being able to live with two of his best friends, even when they’re all determined to win whatever stupid contest they’ve come up with. They’re always there to cheer each other on, to drag each other out of bad moods, to care about each other unequivocally.

Terushima Week-Day 3
Prompt: Angst & Hurt/Fluff & Comfort
This hurt me to write....but please enjoy!
A balled-up pile of tissues and a brand-new box already mostly empty sat on the edge of a bed. A bed covered in a sunny yellow bedspread that seemed to mock the painful atmosphere that had the darkened room in a choke hold. A sniffling, tear-stained figure was wrapped up in blankets, face down on a pillow. Muffled sounds of crying could still be heard, and when his door creaked open to reveal Hannah, his manager an older sister figure, he barely moved. “Teru…” she sighed out quietly and walked into the room, closing the door softly behind herself. She swept the used tissues into the trash bin and sat down somewhere near the torso of the figure. She smoothed a hand down where the shoulder should be.
A head poked out, just barely. Dyed blonde hair cut into an undercut and pretty black piercings in his ears. His face was puffed and red and splotchy and Hannah felt her heart break a little at the sad, lost expression in his eyes. She wasn’t quite sure what to do. Surely anger would be easier to deal with? But nevertheless, she stroked his shoulder in comfort and waited for him to be ready to speak.
“We were at a party. I told him that I loved him, on the roof. It was a little windy, but I was so sure that he heard me. But then we...we..” he started sobbing again and Hannah moved to cradle his head in her lap. He let her move him, completely boneless. Her heart shattered more, another piece chipping away.
“Teru...shhh...it’s ok.” She knew she was lying. Right through her teeth, but Hannah couldn’t say anything else. She ran her fingers through his hair and tried to soothe the broken boy. His tears stung her like acid.
“Suguru….he dumped me… said... s-said…” He tried to explain again and was once again overcome by emotion, breaking down into another round of sobs. She passed him a tissue and held him to her chest. God. She wanted to kill that Tokyo brat. Even if Terushima was too stunted by the break up to feel the anger, she certainly did.
“Hey, if he can’t see how wonderful you are, if he found a reason why you two shouldn’t be together, than he doesn’t deserve you. I’m not saying you can do better, although you can, but I’m saying he’s a blithering idiot.” her voice was soft and gentle, yet even she could hear the steely undertones.
“College.” Terushima choked out, a bit of time later, as the tears slowed and his breathing evened out. Hannah wiped his face clean with tissues and he sat up. She left the room and shortly returned with a glass of water. He drank it all without being asked. “He’s going to be busy. And I’m only a second year.” He explained. Hannah ignored the twinge of guilt that she would also be leaving the team. They’d be fine. She just knew it.
“That may be true. And hey, at least it’s over. There wasn’t a prolonged experience with you both trying to make it work only to watch it slip away.” Her voice was bitter now, her personal experience talking. She watched his eyes widen.
“Hannah...I’m-” he started but she swiftly cut him off.
“Nope. Today is your day to be mentally unstable, I can wait another week or so, honestly I feel pretty good.” She reassured and then put an arm around his shoulder. “So I can tell the guys that anyone who shows up in a green uniform with a too-long tongue is blacklisted?” She teases, trying to bring back his smile. His beautiful, beautiful smile.
It works, enough. His lips quirk up a little and she feel less like her heart is being strangled. Hannah has always hated Terushima being sad. He’s like her little brother and he’s just so genuine that it hurts her when the world is cruel.
“Thanks.” He whispers and she hugs him tight.
“Not a problem. I can even send a letter to Karasuno telling them that if they play Nohebi to kick their sorry asses.” She offered, and that brought a slightly wider smile. If only because she had a sneaking suspicion that Terushima was picturing the kinda terrifying Karasuno rounding and beating down Nohebi, who are also rather high on the Scary-o-meter. She presses a soft kiss to the top of his head. “You’ll be fine. I know it. You learned about being a captain, and your team loves you.” She reassures, aware that this had been bothering him as well and most certainly gone through his head as he waded through puddles of self-hatred.
Terushima nodded and leaned into her. “Can you look over my biology homework while you’re here?” he asked quietly. “I think I got it all right, but it was essentially the review for the test and I….” she cut him off with a hand wave.
“Of course.” She smiles brightly. And when Terushima gets out of bed to fetch his homework, he pulls back the blinds and Hannah knows that despite the hurt he’s carrying around in that big heart of his--Terushima Yuuji will be just fine.

Terushima Week Day 2: Childhood/ Growing up
Yep, I’m still PartyBoy
Be honest guys, you had me pictured like the kind of guy who’d have partied like in college till his forties didn’t hit him too hard, hadn’t you?
Well you weren’t totally wrong. I still definitely know how to bring the party where I go, but I’m a kinda responsible adult, more or less. My friends can confirm that, but I’m not sure how much are they reliable. But you were curious, weren’t you? So let’s just start with the biggest thing ever: college!
I applied to this well known uni, mostly for their computer engeneering program, but also for their volleyball team. I wanted to play in college, but unfortunately, just a few months in my second year, I had to give up volleyball due to a nasty fall on my shoulders (I swear it didn’t seem that bad, at first). I neglected it initially, until it became clear I couldn’t play anymore.
It wasn’t one of my happiest moments. I wasn’t ready to leave it behind me. I never realized how much volleyball was important to me, until I knew I wouldn’t be able to play anymore. Oikawa, one of my roommates, was the greatest support ever in that moment. I would have never imagined I’d be able to relate that much with that guy, but surprise surprise I was wrong. And boy I’ve never been more happy to be wrong! The months after I left volleyball were savage glimpses of Suga, Oikawa and the usual suspects at weird parties, college shenanigans, and night study sessions ended in much more interesting activities, if you know what I mean Don’t sweat it: Suga wasn’t with Daichi at the time, and I was as free as a bird. We just had a really funny semester, let’s say, and volleyball became enjoyable even from the bleachers, cheering for others.
After college, I actually got to work in my field of studies. A real luck, cause I wasn’t alone. Who would have guessed Kenma was this sassy? I knew him from college, but I barely had ever talked with him, cause whenever he visited from his uni Kuroo was glued to him for days. Let’s just say that the addition of Bokuto, Akaashi, and Tsukishima to the pair didn’t make the situation better, but anyway. I just got to really know Kenma when we started to work together on this huge game designer project. At first he was reserved, but after I helped him sending Tsukishima’s nudes at the whole team as a revenge for the theft of his last pudding, we became friends.
A few years later, Keiko entered my life. She was unexpected, to say the least. Let’s just say that, until she was born, I had no idea she existed. Her mother, the lover of a night, called me from the hospital, thrusted the little bundle made of covers and screaming Keiko in my arms, declaring she couldn’t, didn’t - I don’t really know the full story, not even today - want to raise a child by herself and since I put her in that situation I had to take responsibility. To say I was shocked didn’t even come close to what I was feeling at the time. But somehow Keiko went home with me that night, and since that moment I started the struggle to become a dad. With time, and the help of the best people life gave to my - my friends - I learned. And even if sometimes everything was too much for me, they didn’t leave me alone. Whenever I needed it, someone was there. Even Tsukishima babysitted Keiko a few times. Daichi and Suga became her favourite uncles, Oikawa and Iwaizumi were close seconds, though.
I learned to be a Dad, the coolest Dad as Bokuto sometimes loves to tell her, and at the same my friends helped me to not lose myself in the process. That’s to say: I’m totally comfortable going to pick my little girl up from preschool with my bike, but I have a cute pink Hello Kitty helmet for her. Mine his Pokémon themed, of course. I put her asleep with poorly singed versions of some ROOKiEZ’s songs, but make sure she has Mr. Bunny by her side every night. I’m that kind of dad.
I’m not in my forties yet, fuck, I’m just barely in my thirties!, but all this it’s to say, I’m still me. Even though I grew up, I had to be responsible, face problems I didn’t want or choose, I didn’t lose myself. I fought, I lost, I relied on friends, and fucked up sometimes but in the end, i found out the truest truth about growing up. It’s a process made for exploration, expansion of one’s truest self and to find your own balance. It’s not meant to wipe away what you’ve been before. Terushima Yuuji is still the same PartyBoy, just a tad taller.

Terushima Week-Days 4&5
Day 4: Trust/Captain
Day 5: Fantasy/Sci-Fi
I may have decided to skip a few days due to the inability to find motivation, so here’s a make up. This one is a lot longer than the other three I’ve posted. I may or may not have fallen into the endless pit that encompasses Naruto, and, because there can never be enough of my love Genma, so here’s a Naruto au that features very little Haikyuu and a lot of Terushima regretting his choices. And fight scenes cause I’m like ultra weak for that stuff.
Let it never be said that Terushima Yuuji backed down from a fight. Seriously. If it’s ever said and goes uncorrected the shinobi will surely turn in the grave he’s about to land himself in. It wasn’t his intention to pick a fight with one Shiranui Genma, he just rolled his eyes a few too many times at Namiashi’s scars and then laughed a touch too hard at one of Yamashiro Aoba’s jabs. So now he sits, a captain of an ANBU team for Christ’s sake, in an empty training field, in full gear-mask and all, about to face down Shiranui-san. While Kakashi-san  watches-slash-proctors, really only there because he’s easily one of the strongest of their age, if not the strongest. Kuroo Tetsurou, Daishou Suguru, and Bokuto Koutarou, his squadmates, also watch on, all sporting varying grins of amusement. Well, to be fair, they had warned him about Shiranui-san and his downright creepy knowledge of when someone disrespects his partner. Terushima sighs and turns to his squadmates, the recruits he was given to lead, mess of a group that they are, and nearly pleads.
“Just burn all my effects. All of them. And tell Daichi’s squad that I was thinking of them in the end.” He grins a little cheekily at them and tries not to swallow too loudly when he sees Shiranui-san’s careful look of disinterest. He highly respected the other ANBU, honestly Shiranui-san, Namiashi-san, Yamashiro-san, and Gekkou-san were one of the most terrifying teams in the organization. With the exception of some veteran members, Uchiha Itachi, and Hatake Kakashi they are probably the most powerful. High chakra reserves, stellar control, an assortment of weapons and specialties, really, Terushima is brilliantly screwed.
He hadn’t even meant to fight the other ANBU. He just got a sharp, witty, stinging comment from the hazel-eyed man telling him to “knock it off, please, Terushima-kun, you aren’t as funny as you must think you are in your head.” In that smooth, velvety, deep voice of utter boredom. And he’d been so disappointed and embarrassed he’d just sorta shouted “FIGHT ME!” in a panic because Shiranui-san still had those eyes fixed on him, daring him to say something. Okay, so Terushima might adore his senpai a little too much, but the man and his teammates are all just so freaking strong. How does one not just want to--- he’ll stop. He gets the same way about Kakashi-san. He shakes his head slightly, clearing it of useless thoughts just in time to see the moody silver-haired teen barely break monotone as he explained the rules to the “spar.”
“This is a standard type 3 spar. All weaponry and jutsus are allowed, but no fatal hits. If your jutsu only has a fatal outcome, then don’t do it. Aim your weapons lightly and far from vital organs. In the event of accident, a draw is called and medical attention will immediately be sought. It ends when one party can no longer get up or calls a submission. Or if myself or Raidou calls the match as over.” He explains dryly and then steps back. Shiranui-san chews on the senbon he has between his teeth as Terushima frantically thinks up a strategy. He’s about to settle for the classic “Run for the Hills and Pray to Kami”  method when his opponent speaks.
“Terushima. You aren’t scared, are you?” he taunts casually, raising one slim brow into the bandana that is his hitai-itae. Terushima takes a short breath and summons courage like a nin-pet.
“No. Shiranui-san--” he’s immediately cut off by the man opposite him.
“Please, call me Genma. I’ve told you this before.” He almost sounds friendly, which means that he’s actually being super friendly to the bottle blond. Terushima nods his head slowly in apology.
“Genma…-san, I’m perfectly ready. The nin from Suna were far more terrifying.” He brags, trying to bluff his way through the exchange. It must show, he must have some tell that Genma picks up on because after one last soft look to Raidou-san the senbon Genma constantly has between his lips is spit out towards him, aimed at his neck, moving with considerable speed. Well shit, he barely has the time to think before he abruptly leaps back and pulls his katana out in one, not-so-smooth motion.
It is at that moment he realizes how poor of a match their skill set is. Terushima specializes in his swords, both long like his katana and short like his tanto, and is good with genjutsu of the sensory kind, meaning he has to get close enough to his opponent to touch them. He fights up close and dirty, his fights are in short, explosive bursts. But Genma, see Genma fights with senbon almost exclusively. Senbon almost always work at a distance and he knows from a mission completed together that all of them are coated with at least a mild sedative. Genma himself is immune or very, very slightly affected by almost all poisons found in Fire country and a few from Suna and Iwa. So you put a distance fighter up against a short range fighter. This won’t end well. Couldn’t he have picked a fight with a Hyuuga or someone who he’d actually be able to get close enough to strike at least one hit on? Of course not. Whoever he pissed off in a past life wasn’t done tormenting him yet.
Terushima whirled into action and pulled his other katana from the crossed sheath he had attached to his back. He was wearing his porcelain mask and Genma slipped his on as soon as the senbon had left his mouth. Terushima’s eyes flashed behind his mask of an orca. Genma’s wasp stared back at him, carefully watching his every move, every twitch catalogued and analyzed. Genma flicked his hand and another senbon flew at him. He deflected it with his sword and then he shunshinned to directly behind Genma, not using handsigns. The one thing his mother taught him was how to control his chakra with enough accuracy not to need the signs for basics. He sent a thanks to her soul and then slashed at Genma’s arm. He dodged the blow and kicked back and turned in a mildly impressive taijutsu combo. Terushima used the broad side of his sword to deflect the sandal and he launched into a flurrying combination of short slashes, aimed at Genma’s arms and legs. Using two swords at once meant there were a lot of blows and he felt a ring of satisfaction when he lands a glancing blow to Genma’s thigh. Even if he very nearly misses getting hit by a senbon in a place that would most certainly hurt very much and that senbon is probably laced with something that would knock him out or eat his chakra or something else equally nasty.
Genma pulls a kunai out too now and Terushima switches to defense as Genam throws it and uses the distraction to pull back, out of range and Terushima curses fiercely under his breath, he had a chance to cast a genjutsu but he chose instead to attack. Well nothing to do now but defend until a good moment comes along to fly forward again. He really wishes he could use the Hokage’s Flying Thunder God technique, it would be useful, but he hasn’t quite mastered it. Not enough to use in a fight like this. So he swipes away senbon and long flying kicks and a few kunai here and there, desperately scraping along, looking for an opening. There! As Genma shakes his sleeve to dislodge the senbon hidden there. Terushima slides one sword away and mentally visualizes the genjutsus he wants to cast as he shunshinned behind Genma again and grabs the wrist about to flick a senbon into his shoulder, sending Genma reeling into whatever dream he had the night before. He steps back to let it really take effect before he attacked. If only to regain his balance. Two jutsus back to back always left him shaky for a beat.
“Rai~” Genma practically moaned out and his eyes closed slightly, head tipping back. Terushima raised a brow before swiping a kick to the back of Genma’s knees and the man went crashing down, waking from the dream. Terushima manages to straddle him quick enough that by the time Genma sticks a senbon into his thigh, Terushima’s sword his pressed to the wasp-masked man’s throat.
“I won.” Terushima said triumphantly, if a little shakily because whatever was coating that senbon started flowing into his bloodstream. His vision started going double but before he can sway to the side to vomit maybe, or just pass out Genma has him flipped, hips pinned by Genma’s own, sword across the field and wrists restrained.
“You were saying?” Genma taunted and Terushima could practically hear the arched brow and crooked smile. He was still very woozy and he distantly heard Kakashi clear his throat boredly.
“Shiranui Genma is the victor.” He says and then Raidou-san rushed forward along with Daishou. They collect their significant others from the ground, and Raidou takes off Genma mask. The man still looks a touch glassy-eyed from the genjutsu.
“Dreaming of me?” The brown-haired ANBU teased, helping the other to his feat. Genma flinches very slightly, ducking his head so his long hair covers his blush. Terushima chuckles until Daishou gets his mask off and he promptly turns to the not-Daishou side and hurls up his lunch. It’s Genma’s turn to chuckle and some of the surrounding spectators offer calls of sympathy for Terushima. Most ANBU in their age group ends up on the receiving end of Genma’s poison at some point and it is not pleasant. Daishou smooths his hair in comfort and helps him stand.
Terushima stands opposite Genma again. They were both faintly smirking and looked a touch unsteady. Terushima bows to Genma, a sign of respect and acknowledgment of superiority. “Good spar, Genma” Genma laughs, flashes that crooked smile of his and ruffles Terushima’s hair when he straightens.
“Yeah, Terushima. It was. You’ll do very well.” The words are fond and Terushima glows.
