Under the water, it is a different world. The ice is floating now above him. It glows like an overcast sky, but the light loses its strength and thickens into darkness within a few fathoms. Below him, it is black as outer space.

Attention, terrors! It's time again to rev your engines for this year’s The Terror Sci Fi Fest! Loneliness, wonder, horror — it's all the same whether it's in the thick of the arctic pack or deep in space. Sci fi themes emerge throughout the whole of AMC’s The Terror (2018), and what better way to commemorate that than an event for The Terror sci fi AUs!
Sci fi here is loosely defined. It can be set in space, or an England with robots, or in canon with something weird going on. Don't worry about it, kitten—as long as you have fun!
All media types are welcome. No word count required. Remember to use the tag #theterrorscififest2024 when you post your work, and mention @terrorscififest so we don’t miss it!

Happy creating and see you in the bridge!

"What was it like?" "Like a dream, sir."
A painting for @terrorscififest, shown two different ways up as I couldn't decide which looked better. Medium: oil on canvas.

:taps microphone: Ahem.
For this year's @terrorscififest it's my delight to bring to you:
Post-rescue sci-fi AU of AMC's The Terror (2018) -- Part of The Terror Sci Fi Fest 2024 -- Sequel to CONSUMED (though you don't need have read it first) After their rescue by the handsome and dashing James Clark Ross, the surviving crew members of the Terebus mission do their best to re-integrate into society. Some attempt to pick up the pieces of the lives they left behind more than twenty years ago. Others choose to leave the Imperium and create new lives entirely. Only Steward Bridgens seems unable to let go of the Terebus. They insist there was an eighth pod. One more crewman, lost somewhere out there in Itijuk space. Dear reader: Bridgens is correct. --
Chapter 1: DOORS In which: Ross instructs Little on the proper technique to coax a sleeping mind out of long-term stasis, and Jopson finds themselves engaged in an act of eyebrow-singeing bravery. Again. Mild peril. Cross-steward bitchiness.
-- Chapters added daily through sci-fi fest, and then weekly thereafter. Summaries and CW in each chapter introduction.

my entry for @terrorscififest because ever since i went stargazing last weekend the thought of tozer being the type of guy to drive out to an abandoned field to look at the night sky has been driving me insane
2k words, rated g, can be read as either platonic or romantic
tags: space au, discussions of grief, lovingly bullying your mates over radio: the fic, sol tozer being a flirty big hearted idiot, space geographer ned little my beloved, this is just tenderness actually

We've got astronauts on Mars, we've got Silna being a badass, we've got so much forbidden romance and dumb space show references, we've got desperate reunions! Kissing! A Creature! Kind of a lot of blood! Enjoy!

fitzier in a ghost in a shell-ish au, where James is presenting like a cyborg, (human brain in a robot shell) but in actuallity is a full a.i., and his mechanic that he wishes he could tell is Francis, one of the last unmodified humans out there.
(this is *not* a commentary on our current ai woes, i just love ghost in a shell)

what makes a (good) man
Graphics by @noeavoiding <33
Written for @terrorscififest
Chapters: 1/2 Fandom: The Terror (TV 2018) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Thomas Armitage/Solomon Tozer Characters: Thomas Armitage, Solomon Tozer, Harry D. S. Goodsir, Lady Silence | Silna (The Terror), Henry "Harry" Peglar Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Post-Apocalypse, Permawinter Post-Apocalypse, Slow Burn, Trans Male Character, Horror, the inherent homoeroticism of sharing a smoke, Solomon Tozer's banging mixtape, Internalized Transphobia, Other Additional Tags to Be Added Series: Part 2 of until the ice begins to thaw (A permawinter post-apocalyptic AU) Summary:
Tommy remembers the lads back home being interested, girls too, feeling the pull of that charisma every time a small circle gathered around Sol after dinner to hear him talk about the snow and the wild gangs and wilder creatures that could be found outside. Tommy remembers those nights, waiting in the wings, hearing his stories, feeling the pull of open air again before he felt the pull of the man himself.
After running away from an overcrowded London shelter in search of his mother and a taste of what lies on the surface of a frozen world, Tommy Armitage is forced to face two realities: One, that the world outside has changed beyond anything he knew before, and two, that the man he has been looking up to all these months has a lot more going on than he had ever given him credit for.
